I tried a Canon PowerShot A85 again for action photos in the car and I am very disappointed with the results, again! I didn’t get any photos that were worth posting. They are all out of focus, even though I spent time waiting for the camera to focus (a pain!!!!!) before taking the shot. It seems that I have a depth of field of about 2 mm. I don’t have that trouble with my Nikon F60 film camera so until I can afford a Nikon D70 (or similar) I am not going to use that digital camera again unless it is in good lighting conditions like at my place.

I thought that I would post hear about a cameri I just bought. It is about half the price of a Nikon D70 and it doesn't have a changeale lens though.
It is a Lumix made by panasonic and the 12x lens is a Leica. It takes great pictures and has all the features that a pro would want.
Check one out at a local dealer I think you will like it.

Your camera is not that bad. Try switch the lens to widest angle. In the focus mode, turn on the AiAF function and turn off the redeye reduction.
Your pictures are mostly out of focus but the camera should be able to focus at that distance.

I am not a novice with cameras as I have been using them for over 40 years and an SLR since 1975 with the Olympus OM series. More recently a Nikon F60. I have tried other peoples digital cameras and all except one have been CRAP! Most built in flashguns are near to useless (I think the Canon A85 has a guide No of about 8) my my Olympus had one of 34. My F60 has about 12 with its built in flash but works well so until I get a REAL camera, I will not use one that isn't an SLR with interchangeable lens. Sure it is more expensive but it does a lovely job. Also for close work, you really need a 28 mm lens but most toy ones don't go down lower that a 35 mm equivalent.
They don't take movies but if I want to take movies, I will use a video camera. Just like I wouldn't bother with a cell phone take takes pictures, videos of surf the web. all crap functions on the phone they them makes are trying to get all these features that you will hardly ever use, does a poor job (2" screen as appossed to a 17 or 19") and their pictures and videos are small quality and short.
The main thing I couldn't tolerate was the shutter delay. I have tried my brother's D70 and you turn it on point and shoot and the shutter fires. NONE of the toy ones do that. Of course I use the camera for other thing other than what I post and when I get a digital, I will probably take more "photos".
Actually, digital cameras don't take photos, they take digital images and until you get them printed, that is what they remain. So looking at a silly little screen to me is not natural and gives me less control.
When I used the A85, I had it set to 35 mm (wide angle, which is what the default setting is when you turn it on) and I wasn't using the red eye reduction. Why the pictures were out of focus, I have no idea. I think the camera was outside its range of picture taking abilities. It was almost total darkness and the flash was the only light source.
At the moment, I am working on a plan to get a digital SLR, either a D70s or a Canon Rebel, but with the better 17-55 lens (28-82 equivalent) but the Nikon has the better lens here, 18-70 (28-105 equivalent) so it includes a portrate focal length, even if it is a slow lens (F5 to 6.3 or something at 105).
Panasonic? I thought they made Hi Fi, TV's etc. It is not a know camera manufacturer so I wouldn't buy any of their cameras. Just like Sony as none of theirs have appealed to me. I may have to wait a little longer, but I will eventually get a real digital camera. I could love the top of the range Canon SLR but at NZ$8,000.00 for body only (& no card) I can only dream. In the mean time, I will continue using my F60 with 400 film. Hopefully, I will have one this year. But thanks for your comments for Magna White & Imaletcher.

Firstly a little background. I suffer what is called satyrisis, which literally means half man, half goat, but describes a condition that some men “suffer”. It comes from the ancient Greeks. How you treat the girl can sometimes effect the service you will get. Some workers, especially street workers, are just out to get as much as they can for a little as possible. In other words, they will try to rip you off without giving any service at all. You will only find this with street workers as at parlors you can complain to the management. With a street girl, especially if you are having the service in the car, if you don’t have certain rules THAT YOU STICK TO, you can easily be ripped off.
I have been ripped off in the past, mainly because I am too trusting of people and expect them to behave like I do. They don’t and you have to accept this and be prepared for what could happen.
In my experience, I find these rules stop me from being ripped off.
1. NEVER have a wallet or valuables in the car where they can be easily grabbed or accessed by the worker.
