I have been staying in Ningbo for some time now, and can provide some updated information.

Here as in most Chinese cities there are a lot of opportunities for mongering. Most any 3-4 star hotels will offer a spa or massage services including FS. Really it’s all about price and what you are willing to pay.

You can have excellent services at 5 star hotels as Nanyuan, Howard Johnson and Portman, but as always the services provided will depend on the girl. You can be lucky or you can get a lazy girl who only wants to finish you of as quickly as possible. You will have to pay between RMB 750 – 950 on such places.

Then you have all the back street BBS and Saunas, where the service can be ranged from very good to very bad. Up selling is common and you should be careful and fix the price in advance. Massage and oil massage with happy ending varies from RMB 100 – 150. There are a lot of Saunas offering FS, and you will usually have to pay RMB 200 – 400.

At the expensive end I can recommend the Portman Plaza who is usually providing very good services, located on 4th storey at the Spa center. Damage for FS is RMB 768.

Sauna recommended is the “Hidden Sauna” on Wen Jing Jie where you can find directions in this thread. Damage for FS is RMB 200.

Oil massage with HE on the south side street (Portman Boulevard) of Sheraton and a half block passed the Caichong Dong Lu on the right hand side of the street. Damage is RMB 108.

I visited the hidden sauna, only to find out that it has permanently closed. Too bad that I couldn't have witnessed the rope thingy.

There was no doubt that it was the right place, next to the big hotel looking sea food restaurant (which is on he cheng lu), right of it on wen jing jie there is this Chinese fast food chain and next to it the massage. The paper on the door says: redecorating. Not in business.

You are correct. Ningbo does have lots to offer in the past. Just about 4 months ago, there was a big crackdown and a lot of the red rope places has closed up. In Ningbo for business trip one night. Know nothing about Ningbo, so I checked out the place. It is a 15 minute (20 RMB) ride from the Shangri-La. Address is:

129 Qi Yun Lu (how can I enter the Chinese address here?) , phone 0574-88088518. When you stand in front of the Chenguang Garden Hotel, it is two or three entrances to the left. Red letter over a glass front to an entrance hall.

Procedure: Enter hall, go to counter on the left, leave shoes, wear slippers. Enter a doorway to the left of the back wall of the hall. Get a wrist strap with your customer number. Open locker with your number, take off all clothes, put all your stuff into locker, close locker door. (You can probably carry your mobile phone inside if you want.)

Enter the sauna area (sauna to the left, pool in the front, shower to the right, next to the towel area. Go to shower, then go to towel area and dry yourself. Get and wear a set of clothes: shorts and shirt (mine said "XL" and was okay for an average foreign body.) Take the stair up which is next to the entrance to the sauna area. Upstairs there is a small counter, they explained me that they only have full service (qiao bei, quan tao) , and I said I can deal with that.

Was brought to a room with TV and a clock. Girl was sent in (no. 17 from Hunan, not very slim. 19 years old, looks like 25). You can send her away and ask to see another one of the girls (total 10). I can recommend this hotel for two reasons. Number one is that it's a reasonably priced hotel with a great location -- you'll pay a fair bit more for the other hotels nearby, namely the Marriott and the Westin.
