Nice reports. Listen, I don't mean to incite a riot but is the norm for ST now 2000 and in some cases 3000 out there? While I have only spent a day at best in Bangkok last trip and usually do not spend more than 2 on a week long trip (last trip was new years of 2004, usually frequent Pattaya), I paid 1500 AT MOST for long time in Bangkok. Mind you, I usually frequent the freelance areas (Nana Disco, Grace Hotel when it was in action etc., never pay barfines). Also I usually took women in the 6-8 range where performance is usually better than the 9-10 women. I am also 33, am mistaken constantly for 28, slightly built and relatively handsome IMO. Just to give you some background on myself and a possible cause for my payment habits. I am also black and don't know if this lessens "expectations" or not but I am putting all my cards on the table in order to be fair and honest.

I understand that you got excellent service in the 2k, 3k instances. I have gotten those types of performances also, in some cases from the 8-9 range. But IMHO this is what I come here for and that is great service. I remember the expat stories of the past where bad service was almost unheard of and you had to basically find a way to get the girl away from you in the morning. I won't even quote the prices that were normal back then because I understand inflation. However, I am very worried that I may well be priced out of the market when I go back. You also paid barfines for the girls in the gogo. Sheesh man, if you have it like that more power to you but if this is the norm I might be sitting on the edge of my hotel bed with cheap Panthip VCD's in the player with Mrs Palmer and her five daughters! It will be all I will be able to afford to do!

No offense to you Traveler but I was just wondering if you bargained at all, are a big spender with dough like that or if you included a premium for something else that may be instrumental in paying that type of price (besides performance). I was trained by several expats and vacationers that there is no need to pay over 2k longtime for a stunningly beautiful woman. Is your payment in the reports an aberration or is this is what I can expect to pay on the norm next trip? I remember that girl asked you for 2k short time. I would have laughed at her so hard I would have busted my spleen.

Don't worry, you can easily get laid for 1000 ST and 1500 LT, no prob at all.

Nice, you call me a *#@! (whatever it is). I do not take it personally, but do not understand why to call someone bad names who pays over the standard rate.
I heard it so often, that this is raising prices. Total nonsense in my opinion. Japanese and others who overpay are visiting the kingdom for decades but never caused an increase in payment. It's more inflation than any other thing. During my first years the standard rate was 300 LT for young and 500 for older cutomers. Sure, rates trippled but exchanges rates trippled as well. All in all not much change over the last 20yrs.

So what's your point ?
Maybe you think I am stupid, but I am not. As said before, I did not agree on any specific amount, only payed for delivered services and the amount was absolutely up to me.

I guess you sometimes take a cab instead of the bus. Even though a taxi is more expensive but more convienient as well. Are you a fool because of that ? I guess not.

I agree with your comments regarding prices. You will always be able to get short time for 500 baht but if you are, like me, into very pretty girls who speak college quality English then you have to pay a premium. I am happy to pay a stunner 3000 baht for all night, the same thing in the UK would be £700 or more. Some of the pictures I have seen on here explain why the girls only charge 500 baht. Day 5

Tried to catch up with mother nature and slept the day over. Did not get much sleep during the last few nights :D.

I made an extensive survey at Soi Udom Suk, the Thai local monger paradise off Sukhumvit Road near Bang Na. There are basically 2 types of entertainments. Karaoke and Thai massages.

My Thai friend lead me the way and it was very helpful because many store signs are only in Thai language. I and my Thai friend spent 2 nights making good survey of all the areas. There are some very very cute karaoke girls which really surprised me about the high quality at this kind of local establishments.

I checked out a few karaokes. Overall the price for pounding babe is much more expensive than Nana or Asoke.

I list some karaokes I surveyed which have very sexy babes.

1. The Corner. Lady drink 150. Take out fee 1800 bahts. Has 2-3 very cuties.

2. Star Karaoke. Lady drink 150. Take out fee 1500. Very nice karaoke house. A few very young cuties.

3. Master Karaoke. Lady drink 150. Take out 1500. Some cute babes.

4. Betty Entertainment. Lay drink 150. Take out 1500. Very nice babes wear sexy skirts.
Also went into a few more store but the signs are in Thai I cannot read it. But the above 4 stores are enough. The first night we checked out several places and I finally took out a very cute babe from Bette Entertainment.

Total pounding cost. 2 lady drinks 300. Take out fee 1500. My beer 150. Short time hotels. The biggest one which I went to Udom Suk Hotel 2 hours 250. Gave the babe 1200 for body fee. I think thats the average in these karaokes around this area for tatal cost of one shot. Much for expensive than Silom or Nana areas. But there are some astounding cuties which will surprise you. Also we checked out many Thai massages. There are quite a few but we checked out a few big ones. I cannot read these Thai signs so I cannot tell you what their names. But you can know from outside they are Thai massages. The price is about the same everywhere 200 for Thai massage 2 hours plus private room 1 hour 100. We ordered massage from a big establishment called Udom Suk something massage only Thai sign the biggest one as my Thai friend told me. So many girls and I ordered 2 to private room. Total damage 200+200 for 2 ladies. 200 for room. 150 for drinks. Paid 300 each for getting naked and hand job me. 50 tip to papasan. 1400 Total cost. The massage itself was good.

I think you can get laid in all these massages for extra 1000-1500 at most depends on the babe. If you look around a few the Thai massages there are some very cuties as well.

If you mongers are tired of Nana, Silom, Asoke, Ratchada, Petburi, those popular areas. Udom Suk is a nice place for change. The 2 nights I surveyed there I only saw a few foreigners here and there. It is still a basically Thai monger zone. but there are very sexy nice cuties in some of the karaokes. If you don' have car you need to take tuk tuk or sontel to move up and down the soi, a long soi.

Take the bus to either Khao San, or Sumhumvit for only 100 bahts. These are airport buses. The taxis driver will tell you that there are no buses. Don't believe them. I think the buses stop at 1am. I may be wrong.

Taxi to Bangkok is no more than 30 min, and the cost is less than 300 Bahts. I think the cost is around less then 200 bahts. Expect them to burn you, like all taxis in the world.

I am living in Bangkok since years, reading this forum sometimes to keep on track with the latest developments in the entertainment areas of the city. Bangkok provides very different entertainment options, and it depends very much on the personal preference of each single person where to go. Most of the posts in this forum are referring to the well-known tourist areas Nana, Cowboy, Patpong and Sukhumvit. But there is much more to explore in Bangkok.

If I go out in the nights I think about my special preference for that day. What's in my mind, was it a hard day, and I need to relax with a massage/fun, do I want any special experience I cannot get easily within a relationship, do I want a GF like experince, but only for one night, do I want to simply dring a beer? It is the variity of options which makes Bangkok so interesting.

Massage/Fun ------------- I tried the big massage parlours in Ratchada Road (Poseidon, Emanuelle, Nataree, etc.) and the quality of a massage depends a lot on the selected girls. You can have different experiences there:

1) Girls, just make money, no good massage, no good sex

2) Girls, giving a good and long massage, trying to avoid sex

3) Girls, really caring about a customer with good massage and sex

You will find a lot girls fitting into the first two categories, and very few of category 3.

My experience is that the older girl generally deliver better service, may be because they are not selected so many times. The younger and prettier the massage girls are the worse is their service.

I nowadays prefer more specialized massage places:

-> Barons: (Sukhumvit, close to Emporium) Oil massage and additional HJ/BJ/FS

The massage is OK most of the times, and a nice introduction into what comes after. If you are not in the mood to get any special service you simply skip over it.

What I like there is the special way of taking a shower in the beginning:

it is done lying on a table, followed by a body scrub with lots of salt. That makes you feel clean as never before in your life.

The special service is limited to HJs, as I know now more service is available. But - they use a special technique for that HJs, and everybody who likes HJs should try that. Udom Suk is a very long soi off Sukumvit. You need to go pass On Nut and keep going pass soi 101 and the next big soi is Udom Suk. This long soi and around the soi has many Thai karaoke, Thai massages, Thai cafes. A lot of signs are in Thai so sometimes have to go in and see what kind of store. There are some really killer beauties I saw there. But for karaokes to take out a babe is not cheap. And have to pay her body fee as well. So I said about 3000 up for all cost of pounding a karaoke babe there. But some girls are really cute, worth it.

well, after the interesting report last week, i had to check out bill healthy massage (next to world inn) on soi 7/1 sukhumvit.

now all of you know i don't have the highest standards when it comes to working girls. if they look like they might know how to suck good, they usually pass the test. this one got an extra helping of ugly, and missed out when they handed out tits. i decided that i'd bite the bullet on this, so i could offer a complete field report.

since the bars are closing at 2 pm the sukhumvit area has turned into a big open air street prostitution zone. may be i did not realize it before, but it is now clearly recognizable for everybody who is walking there in the late night.

you can find nearly everything you want there, and you can talk very clearly about your special preferences. it is not easy for the girls on the street to find customers, and there is a lot of competition. so they are all used to deliver special services, whatever it is, and they are also used to customers which directly talk to them about their special requests.

since working on the street is considered to be one of the lowest ways of making money in thailand most of those girls are desperately looking for customers. some have lost their pride already and are actively approaching all men walking on the road (which is an extremely un-thai behavior). for men who like this kind of contact it is easy to find somebody there, after 10 pm until 4 am in the morning.

the area is widening, it is starting at soi 4 (nana) and reaches all the way up to the westin hotel, and the action is now on both sides of the road. it is furthermore a cheap hunting ground, you should not need to pay more than 1000 baht st / 1500 lt. there are only very few good lookers which work there.

if i go there i am looking for those girls which obviously are looking for customers, but do not directly approach me, girls which still seam to be a little shy. the combination of both, the girls experience of the street and the maintained rest of pride can then lead into a very special experience( if you are lucky). but you must be aware that 2/3 of your attempts will not be like that.

Very interesting post, I always stay in the Sukhumvit area. One thing you seem to have missed is Nana Hotel car park after the clubs close. The selection of girls has to be seen to be believed, from stunners to downright ugly. Prices vary but you are not going to get the pretty ones for 500 baht, they tend to ask 1500 ST, no problem if you don't want to pay that much as they know by experience that if you don't pay it someone else will. Bear in mind that you are saving up to 600 baht bar fine plus no lady drinks to buy. Watch out for the Katoeys though!

I was already thinking of elaborating on this subject. If you speak Thai and already know the scene, is it preferable that you pretend to be a novice?

Especially in Pattaya but in Bkk too you may have noticed the girls shouting at you: "pai nai?" (meaning "where are you going"). In fact they are just trying to measure you up.

According to your reaction from there on are two possibilities. Either you answer back in Thai or you pretend to not understand (or genuinely not understand).

Just a warning: it's not easy though. First it seems that you are hitting a cold hard brick wall. But if you persist for a few weeks you should be right. A good lesson is if you venture in to Isarn armed with just a phrasebook or dictionary. There you will be FORCED to learn or otherwise perish. A potentially painful but good kickstart.

Correct, if you come from Nana the ST hotels are behind Grace hotel, in a small side road of Soi 3, opposite the entry alley of Bumrumgrad hospital. Most taxidrivers will know if you ask for “PB Hotel” in Soi 3.

President Airlines usually have the lowest fares from Bangkok to Phnom Penh. They fly a Boeing 737 that's fairly comfortable for the one hour flight. You can get fares as low as 3200 baht one way and 5800 round trip. The best fares are gotten from the agents near Khoa San Rd. Some of the agents near Nana will match them. This is good since it usually takes several hours for them to actually get the ticket and if you are staying in the Sukhumvit area the agents in the area can just send the ticket to your hotel.

President Airlines only have one flight a day so check their times.

Bangkok Air tickets can be as low as 7000 baht round trip but you will have to go to an agent that has a good working relationship with them.

There is an agent near Nana that is pretty good. I think the office is on Sukhumvit Soi 3/1. It's in the area that the arabs stay. As you walk from Sukhumvit it will be on your left next to a laundry/dry cleaners.

Thai Airways usually has the highest prices (approx. 10,000 baht) but you never know when they may have a special so always check.

Most of the time I didn't even know their names (cos' I don't wanna know). And I got the most amazing performances ever. Those women still thrive on even the smallest sign of kindness. (Which is a tiny smile from me, at most!). Simply because they are still fucking UNSPOILT!

No doubt it will all be destroyed within a few years as the "Nice Guys" move in from Pattaya and elsewhere. They will give them gold, gifts, motorbikes, take them on trips and it will all be fucked like Thaisex has become.

So, as to find consistent good performance with minimum effort and cash outlay: you can forget Bangkok or Thailand. You had a chance 15 years ago but not any more. Sorry.

Devil-Travellers checks get the best return, but you pay a fee per check, so I think it comes out about the same as cash. Bring only $50 and $100 bills as these get the most money. Clean bills help too, as they may refuse to take ripped or worn out ones.

Remember if you change at the airport (at a exchange booth), you usually get nailed for 50 baht per $100 exchanged. ATMS are usually a good choice. I haven't found any that are better than others. Just check your bank to see what they'll charge.

Exchange rates have varied a lot this last week. I've seen from 40.32 to 40.57 to the dollar.

Went to Star of Light in Patpong on Saturday. The girl I went with last time, Ai starting rubbing me up as soon as I sat down. Something you may wish to consider in the event that you can sleep on the plane coming in and leaving:

Check your bags at the airport and do not book a hotel. Take the money you would have spent on an airport area hotel, and take a cab down to Nana Plaza for the last of the goings on there. If you find a girl you like, take her to a short time hotel where you can have a shower and the use of the room (and girl) for about two hours. After that, get back to the Nana hotel and find another, or if it is past 3 a.m., walk down Sukhumvit until you find some one, hit the short time hotel, spend two hours. Clean up, shave, dress in travel clothes and head up to the airport in a taxi (about 20 minutes on the tollway at the times you will take it) and check in for your flight. Sleep pleasant dreams on the plane after getting laid all night.

I've been reading the forum and am thinking of a trip. I've been a Costa Rica traveler for a while. My daily budget for food, room, and ladies there runs around 200 per day. Could do less (could do more especially considering my love of threesomes).

I've been reading, and adding costs, but am wondering if any of you would mind sharing what they use for budgets. Everyone's taste is different, of course, but I'm always wondering about hidden costs.

I don't require star quality, nor luxury accomodations. Warm water, not many bugs, and a place where the ladies aren't ashamed of for a room, food would probably be along the native lines. Spice and noodles work I'll save the 16 oz Ribeye for the states.

If you are talking 200USD (about 7,800 Baht) a day budget you would have a good time in Bangkok. Consider this:

A decent/clean hotel: around 1,200-1,500/day
Thai food in Thai restaurants: 400 or less/day

With this budget so far out of the 7,800 you have spent around 1,600 for food/hotel which leaves you with 6,200/day for mongering. The average cost for a girl is around 1,000 to 1,500 for short time (2 hours) for freelancers and about the same for a bar girl but you have to pay the bar fee which is around 500.

If this is your first time to Bangkok I would recommend you stay at the Nana hotel which is fuck central and in the middle of lots of pussy possibilities. If you make it to Bangkok you will be hooked. Good luck.

A lot of the short time hotels have those stirrup chairs, but I've never tried them. Many short time hotels, all over the city, are just hotels with numbers. For example "Hotel 69". Many people just pay for ST and leave, but all of them will rent you the room for the whole day. usually there are rooms on an upper floor for this. Most prices around the city are around $450-550. Very basic rooms, but serve the purpose. The money you save on the room you can use it to have more fun with the women. AND, as an extra bonus, when you take your girl back to your room and she sees that you are staying in a low priced hotel she is less likely to hit you up with a scam to get more money out of you. I've never even been asked for a tip when I've stayed at these kinds of hotels.

Many taxi drivers know where they are, just tell them what part of the city you want to stay in. Also, many of the girls know them as well, especially the ones that work for the Thermae.

Cleaner 2 star hotels (maybe 3 star) close to the action is the Parkway Hotel rooms 700 to 1000 Baht a night, one block from Nana. Short time hotels are good for a short time, but not to stay for a week. Did, done it, will not do it again. Parkway is not a S.T. Hotel.

Costa Rica can be fun, but your money will go a lot further in Thailand. The main differences between Costa Rica and Bangkok is the cost of the plane ticket, the difference in time zones and the pussy is cheaper in Bangkok, with a lot more to be had!

Once you are there, Bangkok is way better then San Jose. Del-Rey Hotel in C.R. and Nana Hotel in Bangkok, the Hotels are equal, but downstairs at the Nana; there are about 5 fold the girls in the Disco, another 5 fold in the parking lot at closing and across the street are 3 stories of clubs and pussy to be had.

The cost of the girls in Bangkok are 1/2 the price of the girls at the Blue Marlin or Key Largo in C.R.. The girls in C.R. are on more of a race track to get back to the club for the next guy then the girls in Bangkok. To compare the amount of girls in Bangkok to San Jose, you can not even think about compare them, Bangkok has 1000's more.

Do not get me wrong, I like both places. Costa Rica is good for the long weekend, but Bangkok is the true Adult Disneyland! Thailand is still a lot better than Costa Rica for fun! The girls are better looking in many ways in Costa Rica, because of variety and the fuller body, than in Thailand. In Costa Rica; there are girls of all size, colors, and body types. But Thailand the girls are small and petite. The girls in Costa Rica are more about the business than have a good time. This is good for playing with a lot of different girls in a short amount of time. You get truer GFE in Thailand, than in Costa Rica. I actual had one of the girl in C.R. ask me why I only had 2 girls that day, and why I was not rushing back to B.M. for another girl. It is a true place for 3f’s (find, f*ck, finish). Also in Costa Rica the girls are not stuck to you like glue, once you take them back to the room. The scene in Costa Rica with the monger is mostly American; I would say average age mid-forties. I would say there are a few hundred people playing there at one time in San Jose. Compare to Thailand being more world wide with a wider age group and thousands of people playing there everyday. Costa Rica has less than 10 enterment places for foreigners in San Jose, compare to 100’s in Bangkok. Bangkok has many different style of bars, Open Air Bars, Discos, Cornor Bars, Night Clubs, GoGo's, Pubs, Sport Bars, etc; not wide difference in the bars in C.R.

San Jose is a good place to go for a shorter periods than Bangkok, because it is closer and in the same time zone. But Bangkok is cheaper and better once you get into town. It is a lot easier to use English in Bangkok than in San Jose. If you do not speak Spanish in San Jose it is very hard to get around. Bangkok is easy to get by without speaking Thai. Bangkok is a lot more modern compare to San Jose. Bangkok has a lot more to do in the city than San Jose for other than monger activates. Outside of the cities both countries have great things to do!

In San Jose, you are always worried about walking around, you are ever comfortable. Between Presidente and Del-Rey at night, there are many beggars/muggers hanging out at night. I am younger guy that is bigger so they ever bother me, but I would not want to be small older guy with one to many drinks under your belt, you would be done. Even during the day, you can feel un-comfortable walking around. I have been going to Bangkok for 20 plus years and have ever felt un-comfortable walking during the day or at 3 in morning in any part of town.

Both places can be fun! But if it was not for the distance and the time difference I would ever go back to Costa Rica for Bangkok and Thailand. Thailand is still the best to play! It is still the Adult Disneyland of the world with a lot of fun to be had!

Taxi: 300B and change (about $8) via superhighway. I don’t remember how much change.

This fare was more expensive than necessary, but I was a newbie back then. It included all tolls and also the 50 Baht airport charge. There are cheaper ways to get a taxi from the airport, as explained on WSG, but at 300 baht and change you are paying a reasonable price.

Bottom line: $24 from the airport is three times higher than you need to pay.

worse case scenario, you will pay 300 baht to get into town.
You should be able to get it for less than that. Some will tell you to go upstairs to save 1$, bla bla bla, just pay the 300 and go find a girl. Do not accept offers from people inside the terminal.
Walk outside, down a small ramp, and there will be the booth for taxis. You will get a metered taxi, and you will pay an additional 50 baht airport waiting time, and also 70 baht for tolls.

This is what I am normally looking for, so I will split up this part into sections. There are too many places in Bangkok you can go to look for girls for GFE.

-> Bars / Billiard Bars

> Gulliver’s (Sukhumvit Soi 5)

Gulliver’s is a huge relatively new bar in Soi 5. It offers all kinds of entertainment: sports monitors, a huge screen, billiard tables, music, internet, a restaurant, etc .. Very modern style. I heard it is somehow connected to the Gulliver’s in Khaosan Road. Drinks are still cheap in there, I thought the prices would rise stronger after the start up promotion period.

Basically all action is around the billiard tables, the place starts to fill up around 8 PM in the early night. Freelancers go there, playing billiard and looking for customers. You will find all better looking girls there which before worked in Beergarden Soi 7. Later in the night many of the girls are shifting from Gulliver’s to CM 2, Silam, Novotel. Don’t go there too late, around 8.00 PM is the right time to be there.

It is a nice and easy place to go. You can go for beer only, just hanging out there, you can try your billiard abilities, you can meet people or pick up girls. The girls in there normally do not approach customers. They will not come to talk to you. You have to make eye contact, meet them on the billiard tables or invite them for a drink. Many girls are over-average good looking, good bodies, nice faces. Most of them have at least one baby, but you normally would not believe that, if you see them playing billiard.

Gulliver's is IMO the best billiard bar to go to.

My own experiences with girls in Gulliver’s are mixed positive. I found some very nice GF’s for one night, and I also had some negative experiences with too much professionalism.

The Blue Wave is a new billiard bar located between Soi Nana (Soi 4) and J.W.Marriotts Hotel, on the side with the odd soi numbers of Sukhumvit. The bar shines blue in the night, it should be easy to find.

The bar is very modern, and a good starting point if you want to go to NEP later in the night. Sometimes a life band is playing. That bar has very good pool tables, compared to other billiard tables in the city, which sometimes are very difficult to play. There are always girls around, playing pool, drinking, waiting for customers. Average lookers.

No experience with the girls there up to now.

BTW: Next to that bar is the No-Hand restaurant – if you come in a group of some people it can be fun to go there.

> Pickles Cocktail Bar (Sukhumvit Soi 22)

Pickles bar is located in Sukhumvit Soi 22, in the ground level of Regency Park Hotel. It is a medium sized bar, quiet, not too many customers, with an internet corner and two billiard tables (too small). You can also get some good Thai food there. Music and drinks are OK. You should try that bar if you don’t want big numbers of people around you, just a quiet evening enjoying with a girl. The bar is nothing for people who like a lot of action.

There are around 15 – 20 girls working in that bar, but you never see all of them, because they go out with customer very often. Most of the girls speak English quite well. I could observe in that bar, that many customers return to the girls and take them out for longer periods. That means that those girls obviously deliver good services to the customers, and taking care quite well. This surprises me a bit, because there are not so many good lookers in there, it is quite average what you will see. It confirms my theory that you get better service from girls which are not too gorgeous.

My own experience was very good in that bar up, the girl I took out did not let me sleep all night including all services and positions I wanted, and she enjoyed, too. She left next day at noon, without any rush, after giving me a last service and at least one hour over average massage (not like Hattusat, but OK). I always take her again, if I come back from business trips and really need to “relax” more than usual.

> Billiard Bar (cannot remember name in the moment) (Corner Sukhumvit / Soi 22)

There is a smaller Billiard bar directly on the corner from Sukhumvit Road and Soi 22, with a number of billiard tables. Nothing special, also a more quiet place to go. Anyway it seams to me that the Soi 22 area is a good area to go, because not so many tourist knows those area around Soi 22 / Washington Square.

The bar is specialized on billiard, all tables are busy after 6 PM in the night, and some girls are present, playing billiard and looking for customers. Contact is generally made with playing billiard or inviting the girls for a drink. Not all girls go with customers there.

No experience with the girls there up to now.

Down the Sukhumvit road direction Emporium there is a small Thai restaurant, which is opened 24/7. Food is good, and it really gets busy after 1 AM in the late night. Also a place where left overs can be found, and a late pick-up can be done, in connection with a late night meal.

> New Wave (Sukhumvit Soi 7)

New Wave has a major reconstruction half a year ago, to compete with Gulliver’s. The bar much larger now, has a bigger number of billiard tables, and sports monitors and screens. What I like there is that the music is not so loud, it is always easy to talk.

The bar is located opposite Beergarden Soi 7 next to the open air restaurant. It is a bar to go in the afternoon up to latest 9 PM, when it gets really empty there. It is a kind of modern Beergarden with billiard tables and sports bar features. Some girls shift from Beergarden to that bar and back, for getting a break to the boring waiting sessions playing some rounds of billiard.

No experience with the girls there up to now.

-> General hunting advices for bars/billiard bars:

The problem of those places is, as in many other places like this too, to find the right girl amongst so many. Some of the gorgeous ones can easily make money there, and they are really picky. Most of them know the market, and have different strategies to optimize their profits: Either the customer pays over average (> 2000 baht), or they only go ST and try to return as quickly as possible. That’s why I never go for those very pretty ones.

The second line of girls is often the right choice. Have a drink with them, talk and check out their attitude. If they are interested, continue a conversation, answer your questions you can proceed. If they are quite uninterested, looking around, but not in your direction, and the conversation always stops after each of your question, you should better look for somebody else.

In billiard bars you can watch the girls playing the game. If they work longer, and have a basic understanding of billiard, they are playing quite well. You can make some conclusions about their intelligence and the length of time, they play that game already. The better they play, the longer they work.

Many of those girls understand their job, and they know that you will come back if the service / experience is OK. The level of those girls is generally higher than that of girls working on the street or in beer- or gogo bars. Most of them are more serious than the groups of joking girls you can find in gogos. Many of them speak English quite well.

I disagree completely, it is actually very easy to spend 9,000baht a day in LOS, especially if your a social person.

When i used to come here on holiday i would invariably blow 10,000 baht just of an evening, holiday is holiday, you save up for the damn thing most of the year, of course your going to enjoy it, buy the girly drinks, some BBBJ here, lots of drinks, cabs between nightspots, into Nana disco, bird for the night. 10,000baht goes quickly if your having fun. Of course you could also budget on half of that and still have a great time, its up to the type of person you are.

These days, now that Thailand is my home and i'm no longer on holiday, i spend no more than 75$ on a night out, and thats taxis, drinks and girls.

- 250 to 300 baht plus 70 baht expressway toll

- take the expressway, it saves time

- take a cab with "taximeter". Just say "Meter" if you enter the taxi. Most of the taxi's are yellow/green.

- watch, that the meter is switched on AFTER you enter the taxi, it show 35 baht then (some taxidriver switch it on before)

Bits and pieces from my several days in BKK - great time, but first time in SE Asia - I OVERPAID BIG TIME.

At the NEP, I dropped by a bar by the name of Mandarin, I think. Nice girls in there, I rushed and barfined LT the first girl that came up to me - she was REALLY cute - Porn (or Pon) was her name. Great attitude, very friendly, probably an 8-8.5 on my scale. Paid a 600 Baht barfine. Had to pops (one before sleep, one after) - this girl wears you down - prepare to battle it out for over an hour - she was almost berserk! I collapsed after the first pop (around 2 a.m.) or so.

I asked how much she was charging back at the bar and she said "you decide". I decided 2,500 Baht (okay, I know I am an idiot - first trip). On top of that, I have her a 500 Baht tip. Great experience, but also a great lesson in how to overpay. Lesson learned.

Beergarden - still haven't learned the lesson by then, paid her 1,500 Baht and 300 Baht (ST), pretty girl, mediocre experience, what was I thinking by paying 1,800 Baht.

Thermae - was NOT impressed. Came in for a bottle of beer and there were 12-15 girls, mostly 3-7 on my scale, there were two guys only (incl me). The place seemed dead.

Barfined a girl at Voodoo's - also overpaid, she wasn't too impressive.

It was only in Koh Samui where somebody knocked some sense into my head re. paying, etc.

I loved the country (and not the just the girls, everything else was great too) and as one of the fellas send in one of the PMs, my next trip will be more fruitful now that I sort of had a preview of how things work.

Hua Hin is a nice get-a-way from Bangkok for a couple of days and is hardly overpriced unless you stay at one of the Chain Hotels or the new spas.

Cheap places can be had both in the town and just outside, the markets are Pratunam pricing and the food stalls in the market are good value.

I think that you guys are letting your playground pettiness get in the way of the facts.

In the area around Soi 33 you can find many hostess bars. Hostess bars have a completely different style from normal, beer, billiard or gogo bars. This are places where normally the business community of Bangkok goes for a beer / bite after work. Most of the bars there have names of painters, though especially during the past few months many new bars opened which select different names. There are at least 20 bars there now, may be more.

> The Office Bar

The Office Bar is clearly the market leader in Soi 33 since at least a year. It is located in a side road of Soi 33: If you walk from Sukhumvit into Soi 33 you pass Novotel Lotus (on the left), and after approx. 100 m you will reach a small side road on the right hand side. In there, at the very end, left hand side, you will find the office bar.

The office bar contains a huge bar table area, restaurant style chairs/ tables, an area with cocktail chairs/tables, a separate billiard room and a more private area upstairs in the first floor (haven’t been there long time, I really don’t know for what it is used now), sports screen, TV. Most of the interior is wooden made, and the ceiling in the bar area is very high. It is really a great bar, very good style.

Music is a good mixture, sometimes also Thai music. Drinks are OK, over average. But – expensive. There is a happy hour, but I don’t know details about that.

There are around 60 girls working there, different styles, some younger some older, something available for sure for everybody’s taste. There are some really gorgeous girls working there. And – you can find some gorgeous AND CLEVER ones, which is a real dangerous combination. Most of the girls speak English fluently, and are experienced how to deal with business people. They are always well dressed, try to behave like ladies (more or less successful, depending on the girl). That makes the difference to other bar areas in Bangkok.

As in all successfully operating bars there are some negative developments visible. Girls tend to drink fast, in order to make the customers buy more drinks. Girls tend to get other girls involved in discussions with customers in order to make the customer buy a drink for that girl, too. About 1.5 years ago there was the strict rule in that bar, that a girl which is asking a customer to buy a drink for her was immediately to be kicked out. It was really up to the customers to offer a drink. I am not so sure, that this rule is still valid.

Furthermore I see in the later nights nowadays more kissing / touching activities in the bar than before, which really dont fits into the general style of the bar. Most of the time the customers drank too much, but it is also up to the girl (and the bar owners) to let something like this happen.

It gets busy in The Office Bar around 5 PM, and there are always more people during the week than on weekends. It gets less crowded around 9 - 10 PM due to the fact, that the business guys are then going home of shifting into Cowboy, Nana or their preferred clubs. This time rule is valid for nearly all bars in Soi 33.

I had some great experiences with girls from that bar, not only taking them out, also sitting with them trying to discuss more serious issues. It can work there, if you are lucky and pick the right girl.

> Renoir

Renoir is one of oldest bars in Soi 33, the market leader before the office bar was opened. The bar is still crowded and well known, and No. 2 in the area now. It belongs to a Thai business man who started that area (Soi 33) and owns many of those hostess bars.

Renoir is located on the right hand side, in between “van Gogh” to the right, and “Degas” to the left (if you stand in front of it).

In front of the bar there are chairs and tables, and there is a BBQ grill where you can get steaks etc. . The food is average, nothing special. I never see many people sitting outside the bar.

The interior of the bar is quite dark, wooden made, too, but the ceiling is low, the bar seams to be small. Sometimes I feel uncomfortable, everything is too narrow, especially if it is crowded. But that’s up to everybody’s taste. Music is OK as well as the drinks. The service is very good, you never have to wait to order something.

The girls there are a bit more “Tizian” style (bigger), and a bit older than in other bars. Some gorgeous ones, but not as many as in The Office Bar. I guess there are at least 50 of them, may be more. But for sure experienced, most of them long time in the business, and most of them have long time customers from the business community who return again and again. You have to work hard (serious face, looking not interested, not answer questions) to sit alone there, as soon as you enter the bar girls approach you and want to sit with you. That’s what I not like, I want to be the one who selects a girl of my choice, I am old enough to establish eye contact and make somebody sit with me.

I have no experiences with girls from that bar, they are not so much my style. The girls are approaching too aggressively, so I don’t go there many times.

> von Gogh

van Gogh is located to the right of Renoir. The bar is smaller, contains a bar area and some cocktail chairs and tables. Music is OK, sometimes too loud, drinks are average. For my taste there is too much light in that bar. Not really comfortable.

van Gogh was operating quite successfully 2 – 3 years ago, in my opinion it is now very quite. The girls in there change a lot, which is normally an indication that something is wrong in the bar. But it can really be fun sometimes, especially later in the night, I had some very good drinking sessions in there with some friends.

There are not so many girls inside, may be around 20, also mixed style, and due to the permanent change some of them don’t speak English so well. But it remains a place where you can go.

> Degas

Degas is located to the left of Renoir. The bar is small, contains a bar area and some couches/sofas you can sit on. The best place to sit is directly on the bar. Music and drinks are OK.

I go to this bar if I go out with one (not more) friend. A good place to sit and talk.

There are approx. 15 girls working in there, some of those already long time. Mixed style, and some very special ones. I had a very good experience with a girl here.

Degas was the first bar in Soi 33 I was going to when I came to Bangkok first time for a business meeting. May be that’s the reason why I still go there sometimes. It is really nothing special on that bar.

> Napoleon

Napoleon is also one of elder bars in Soi 33. It had life music some years ago, and was very crowded. It’s more quiet in there today.

The bar is located on the left hand side, 200 m after passing the side road to The Office Bar.

The bar quite big, is separated into many sections, 2 bar tables, sitting areas, billiard tables, separated billiard rooms. The wooden made interior is designed nicely, its quite comfortable in there. Music is over average, drinks are OK. The service is excellent, some very polite waiters (!) are working there.

There are around 40 girls working there, it is one of larger bars in Soi 33. The last time I was there (2 months ago) there were two real stunners, but they seamed to know that they are gorgeous, quite a “high-nose” attitude. The other girls are average, up to everybody’s taste.

I was quite amused about one I talked to last time, she offered me services for US $ 200,00. I smiled and left.

> Blue Bar BQ

This is a smaller bar in the second side road of Soi 33, turning right at “Wall Street” (a bar, too). The bar was owned by an Australian up to now, and therefore it offers Australian steaks and wines. The ownership has recently change to an American.

The bar is small and quite dark, with a small corner in which the steak grill is located. Nothing special to mention.

I go there for a very good steak, Australian sirloin and the salad (baked potatoes are dry and too small). The steak size is OK for medium hungry people, this are not huge American steaks (which you can get in Bourbon Street, Soi 22, Washington Square). But the steaks are really good – the chief knows the difference between medium and medium-rare, and that is quite unusual for Bangkok.

10 girls inside, average, I never saw anybody go with a customer there, some dancing sometimes, a bit fun, never many people.

> Something new

When I walked through Soi 33 I saw something very new right now under construction. Two giant elephant teeth have been built exactly opposite the side road which leads to The Office Bar. It seams to be a steak house, Timevati Lounge is the name (or something similar).

It looks huge, with several areas, restaurant part, bar tables, kitchen area, outside area around a swimming pool. African style, very nice interior, within the ground floor of a villa, which must have belonged to very rich people. It’s opened in the back of the building and you have tables and chairs around a pool, too.

No people inside.

There were some girls around, but I don’t know whether this will be hostess bar or only a restaurant.

Will go there again and let you know.

> Other bars

“Santana” – an attempt to establish a South American / Spanish theme bar, which failed. No real concept, only sometimes South American music inside … not interesting.

“Wallstreet” – a meeting point for Australian and NZ people in Bangkok, a huge sports screen for showing cricket (or rugby???) … nothing special.

“Dali” – big hostess bar with a huge bar in the middle, billiard rooms, a dance floor (for whatever used, never saw somebody dancing there). Approx. 40 girls there, average.

“Mojo’s” – a new bar, opposite Office Bar, it has life music, but no ambiente. I don’t feel well in that bar.

Some more bars there. Many new ones which I did not check up to now.


-> General hunting advices for the Soi 33 hostess bars:

Girls working in hostess bars belong clearly to the upper market segment of the prostitution scene in Bangkok. You will find out that many (40 %) of those girls in Soi 33 will refuse to go out with you – they are only working there to keep customers happy, keep them drinking, and make money with the drinks. They simply do not go with customers. Another group of girls will go out, but only for dinner and dancing, they will not go to hotels or apartments.

But - I believe that all those girls will go out, also to hotels or apartment, if you can touch their hearts. This needs time, and drinks, and talking, and sometimes dancing, dinner etc. etc. . Some of them will strictly not go out in the first or second night you meet them, and they are not so much interested in money for one night but finding a boy friend of sponsor.

To get the girls BEHIND the bar to sit and drink with you you have to buy at least at least ONE drink (150 baht). But there are different rules in different bars. Sometimes you will experience, that the girl will not come to sit with you, because she only works behind the bar as bar tender.

Many of the girls working there are studying and making the money for their living. They study in the day, and work in the night. Those girls are strong, they know what they want, and they have no illusions about what they are doing. They are very realistic, they know what many men want when they come to those hostess bars. They can play that game, they are much more experienced in playing the game than many of us.

If you want to take a girl out there it only works about buying drinks for that girl, talking, making her smile, laugh, feel good, establish some connection, and then finally ask her to go out. It needs at least 1 hour, normally longer, sometimes all evening, sometimes days. If you are successful then go to a disco afterwards for dancing, Hard Rock Café, CM 2 or Spasso, may be also Gulliver’s, do not ask her to directly go to your hotel or apartment. But – talk clearly about what you want later.

There are of course also very professional good looking girls who intend to go with customers, and they are making a hell a lot of money there. Soi 33 is not cheap, the bar fine is already between 800 baht and 1500 baht, depending on the time when you take the girl out. The prices for the girls are varying between baht 1,500 – 3,000 for ST and 2,000 – 5,000 for all night. But I am quite sure, that some girls get more than that from regular customers.

Most of the girls are semi-professionals, so don’t expect them to be as experienced as a gogo girl or a street walker. If you want a BBBJ or other special services you are absolutely wrong in Soi 33. If you want a GF experience, and a girl which wakes up smiling in your arms next day, then you have a good chance to find it here.

In all of those bars you will destroy your own reputation immediately of you take out one girl one day, and take out (or try to take out) a different girl the next day. The girls will notice that, and they will change their behavior. Sometimes they will even know what you did in other bars. Soi 33 is a small area, and everybody know everybody. And – as you all know – girls are talking a lot, they have nothing else to do most of the day.

Your talk of the hostess bars reminds me of the Korean ones I've been to in S. California. The first time I asked the lady, who spoke good english, what were the rules. She said there is no guarantee of sex, but dancing, touchy feely (no bras on the girls) were the menu. As I got more familiar the rules here in Calif. are the same as you describe there. They want the repeat customer since they get a pay based upon the customer consumption (and tips). I found the girls would go with you (for free) if you became a regular customer, and/ or they liked you.

I'm american, but speak enough Korean to get them to giggle and relax, plus I wasn't the normal Korean male customer (which is 99.9% of their customers) so I actually had pretty good luck with getting phone numbers and seeing them outside without paying the very high drink rates.

Anyway enough with memory lane, soon I'll see the promised land over there.

I am also very fond of soi33 and had a great time there a few weeks ago when I was in BKK. I looked in to almost every bar there ( except the Office, damn !) but felt comfortable only in Renior and Dali to stay. Dali had some cute girls one night and had no one attractive on other nights. Found two stunners at in Renoir on two seperate occasions. Bar fine was 1,600 bahts which is quite steep compared to the gogos. But like your posts mentioned, girls there at soi 33 are more " semi-pro"s than the gogos and thus less " hardened" which is to my liking. But unlike your experience with these girls, both of them agreed to go LT with me for 2,500 on the same night I met them( gave them 500 bahts more for tips since they were so sweet ). And the mamasan even went out and got the condom for me when I mentioned I did not have any if I took the girls back. ( what service ! I love this country ) So I don't know if I was lucky or it was my charm ( haha ) that I did not experience difficulty getting these girls back to my hotel on the first night. Definitely will go back on my next trip there and will try the Office for sure. O, BTW, the owner of Renoir is actually a Japanese Thai with some American tie who speaks very good English. I will be coming over to Bangkok next week. At of last time when I was in Hatyai, I went for a modelling show, the models was so beautiful and sexy. Then I asked Person in Charge there whether are they up for sale and they are for 5000B for a nite. It was the highest quality I ever tried.

About someone says not easy to spend 200USD a day in Bangkok. That really depends what kind of place you hang out and pick up a lady. In lots of higher end executive clubs, lots of cutie in these places will ask you 4000-6000 for a shot. Some stunner will ask you around 200USD (8000).

But these that ask me 6000-8000 before are all really dead gorgeous. I think in London, NY, Tokyo, Paris these babes at this level will cost you 2 times more or up. These 200USD Thai babes appear on TV and magazine before. Sometimes mamasan will show you. And sometimes in these higher establishments ,they have foto albums. Some babes you need to make a reservation a few days before.

But in my experience, do not reserve lady from foto, they all look better in the fotos. So you should pick from real things whoever in store in real person. I did reserve a few times but never really fully satisfied. They were still real pretty but somehow the pics are always look better. So when I want a very nice babe now I always pick from the store, no more from the foto album.

For those of you looking for Viagara, the best place I found was a little pharmacy near Nana. If you start out at Soi Nana and cross the parking lot of the gas station (never sure if that's N E S or W) keep walking and within 2 or 3 doors you'll come upon a little pharmacy that's maybe 10feet wide at the entrance. This place sold me 400mg/1000BT, quite the gem considering every other place I went wanted a minimum of 1800BT. They will give you the little blue dynamos in the original packaging, but will remove them in front of you and cut them for you if you ask.

Also, don't go to far, there's another pharmacy, maybe 2 shops down. It's a big shop, but the owner is a total mother fucker. He wanted to sell me some shit in an unmarked bottle at 400mg/2000BT and even said that there would be an extra 100BT/pill charge to cut them.

This is in addition to PurpleNGold's fine suggestion. His approach will work well. My approach is almost the same, but designed to cut out complications and maximize time spent.

One caveat: This procedure assumes you are arriving in Bangkok at night when Nana Plaza is in full swing and traffic is low.

1) Take a taxi from the airport to Nana Plaza (300 Baht - 30 minutes). You might want to munch on a Viagra at some point along the way. If so, I recommend you pick up a bottle of water at the airport. Add an additional (15 Baht).

2) Go to a gogo bar and get a girl for short-time (600 Baht barfine and 1500 Baht for the girl (this is overpaying for the girl). Don't spend more than an hour on this or you might get too drunk, (about 400 Baht for beer).

3) Take your girl to the short-time hotel on the third floor of Nana Plaza (300 Baht for two hours)

4) Have as much fun as you possibly can!

5) Take a taxi back to the airport (300 Baht - 30 Minutes)

Totals: 3,415 Baht, four hours time, at least one pop, and let's not forget those three beers either!

It's a little more expensive than PnG's plan, but the premium is worth it for the reduced hassles IMHO.

Either approach will work.

I was in San Francisco with a friend for Hong Kong, and we went to a place called Showgirls on Broadway to watch the Basketball game. I have been to BKK four times now and did explore all the places you mentioned : (from lowend to highend in roughly that order) :
Nana car park ( SW haven ), beer bars ( Biergarden, Asoke..etc), discos ( Hollywood...etc ), gogo bars ( Nana, Cowboy and Patpong ), hostess bars ( soi 33 ), G-men clubs ( Orbits, Onze, Bed, Carribean, Pegasus, Piano ....etc ).

I have yet to find the quality I am looking for at the price you mentioned in your post. I suppose if my mission in BKK is to fine the cheapest pussies then maybe I should follow your advice. But to me, it's the entire package of " having fun " that's important and price for the "deed" itself is a factor but not the only reason why I enjoy BKK so much. Sorry to dispute you, but I think there is a " market " for you and a " market " for me because obviously we treasure things differently.

After reading PosterLion's report, I need to adjust my suggestion to reflect the cost of the taxi back to the airport (don't know how to get back by bus, but it might be possible, Freeler?)..

After tip and tollway fare, it does come to about 300BT. Also, I forgot the 200BT entrance fee to Nana (pay once per night). This would appear to raise the price to... 3000BT (~75USD)

I was quoting LT prices, but, by only taking the girl ST (make sure to negotiate for 2 pops), you could drop the price down anywhere from 700-1000BT/girl, and thereby return the quoted price to 2500BT.

And, since PL definitely has the better idea to just rent a ST room, you could further reduce that to 2200BT (~55USD).

Either plan is fine, the 1000BT difference isn't really a big deal. The major differences are taking a taxi (slightly more convenient) and gogo vs. freelancer (again PL's play is slightly more convenient, but I like the interaction at the disco much more than the gogo).

One group (let's just call them the " Lonely Planet " or the " Cheap Charlie " group) will shop for the cheapest of everything, including transportation, accomodation, drinks, eats, pussys. I am not a psychologist, so I don't know why they equate " Cheap " to be " Best ". But that seems to be their quest for being in BKK. They usually don't take into the account of time wasted (which in my book is a sin because time is the most precious commodity in life because it's so finite and so unnegotiable), comfort of the surroundings, quality of service/product. etc. Because if their idea of fun is to do something the cheapest way they can get away with regardless of all these other considerations, then what's important to them are usually the followings: How much per pop? (Ugly, no problem, it's her 3rd date tonight, fine! ) How much per room? (who needs comfort or a view of the city, let's just stay as close to Nana as possible 'cos we are here just to fuck! ) how much for the bus ride from the airport to Sukhumvit? (and do you really want to do that after a 20-hour flight from the US? Pls, pls take a cab, it will not bust your budget unless you work for MacDonald's back home), where is the cheapest toilet (squating on a hole and then wash my ass with a hose with my other hand is not what I want on my vacation). etc.

It's not about being able to afford the taxi fare. Why pay 300BT when 100BT gets you to the same place with nearly the same efficiency? 200BT is a couple beers. Would you buy two beers and pour them down the drain without nary a sip just because it's only 5USD?

As has been pointed out, the airport buses are aircon, leave every 15minutes, and drop you right in the middle of the action. Unlike the taxi drivers, who will try to up that 300BT to 500BT or more by taking you round-a-bout paths, the busses follow a set route, so, for newbies, this is even better. If you're on a brief layover, you shouldn't have baggage to worry about, so, there's no need to cab it.

I'm the first to hop in a cab if there's reason to. Hell, I was cabbing it to Halem from Nana (definitely walking distance in a reasonable clime) just because of the heat/humidity. However, that's a different case, and the arguments are not about saving money.

Soi 33 is NOT an area for mostly Thai clientele. Thai men like to go to MPs and Thai Style Karaoke's (girls singing, getting some flowers from customers etc.). Farang and Japanese go there, Japanese, because there are some condos close to Soi 33 where mainly Japanese people live. But 80 % (may be more) of the visitors are farang.

I would like to make a point regarding overpaying. Some members seem to feel that when punters are paying above the average they are causing economic damage to other punters. Take for example, PNG's earlier comment :

Although I can understand why he thinks this way, IMHO, the opposite is true and overpayers actually improve the situation for others. Please allow me to explain.

We are all familiar with the concept that in an open market, with competing buyers and sellers, the average trading price occurs where the market clears, matching aggregate demand with aggregate supply. Using this model in the simplest way, it seems as if overpayers will force up demand and thus force up price. However this is a muddled use of the model. Although the average price is determined by supply and demand, in individual trades, price depends a lot on the information held by the parties involved. There are what I shall Regulars, who are very familiar with the market and who know that they can receive the service for 1000 baht. Then there are Suckers, who are perhaps short-term sex-tourists. They are less familiar with the market, probably not very good at bartering and probably not that price sensitive. They pay 2000 baht for the same service.

Now, let's look at a simple economic model for the service provider. When a TG is enticed into the industry it will be by some periodic income, for example 10,000 in a week. If she estimates that she can hook up with a sucker three times a week, then she will meet her goal if she goes with a Regular the other four nights of the week. If she considers this sufficient compensation, there is every reason for her to continue to work this way. Even though one group of clients pays her more than others, a night home alone is simply lost income so she will take a regular rather than nothing, even if an income from regulars alone would not be enough to entice her to work. This is a simple model but it shows how, effectively, those paying over the average are in fact subsidising others that, in the end, get away with paying less than the average.

If you're not convinced that this model is realistic then try thinking about it this way. Imagine that you succeed in educating all Suckers and get them all to pay only 1000 as Regulars do. If Suckers are a significant fraction of punters (as it seems likely they are) you will have succeeded in significantly reducing the amount paid to the labour force providing the service. It's easy to see that this will have some effect. The service provided will also have to reduce, whether it be in terms of the number or quality of girls or the quality or duration of the service provided. Since the market has found it's own natural clearing level, to receive the same service at a fixed rate, it's logical that Regulars would actually have to increase the rate which they pay to compensate.

So if Suckers aren't increasing rates, what is? Changes in aggregate demand and supply will affect prices. If more or richer sex tourists arrive then the average price will rise, and this is inevitable. It is not related to the fact that there are Suckers and Regulars in the market. Likewise as Thailand's economy goes stronger and other jobs compete better for TG's labour the supply seems likely to fall and the price to rise also.

The Thai sex industry is massive and I don't really believe that prices could be affected by comments on this forum. Still, it seems strange to me to be angry with overpayers when there are good reasons to believe they subsidise the industry for many others. By the way I've really enjoyed everyone's posts, especially PNG's ones about his experience with Joy, and I don't mean this post as a criticism. Apologies if it's a bit off the point also, I just thought it was an interesting topic.

In many of the gent's clubs, the mamasans or sometimes they were called PR, have a few foto albums. Its true that these ladies are mostly part time models on magazines or small time actress or extras.

But if you hang out these places long enough and spend enough money to gain your VIP status, many of the mamasans may intoduce to you some of her very personal contacts.

But I like to reveal how much they ask for and how this things works. There is no short time in this case, usually a night. For a current easily recognizable magazine model, these PRs usually ask for 30000 to 50000 a night. I think these PRs maybe take 20-30% for commission. And for a reconizable current TV acctress, price is 30000 to 100000. If the arraggement is made, you do not meet the lady in hotel or your apartment. You meet the girl in some club house or party house. The lounges I go often all have private party house in La Prao or Ramkanhang soi in places like this. This is one of the purpose of these club houses besides real privete party. And thats how it works. Personally I think its ridiculous to pay 30000 to 100000 for a night with a reconizable face. To me I don't need that crap. But there are so many rich guys into these for personal satisfaction.

Some foreign companies even treat their VIP customers with a night with movie stars. 5. Poor Joe has now overpaid by 1000BT and misses out on a second encounter: TL and RK have cost him an opportunity.

You're probably right; You've definitely presented a more sophisticated model. Not knowing much more than the simplistic supply and demand model you describe first, I'm probably pulling a George Bush (though not maliciously). Still, I think it's important for us to step up and call bullshit on the TL's and RK's of this forum.

20 yrs ago the going rate for a ST was around 300 baht, today it's 1000 baht. Prices have trippled. But exchange rates trippled as well from approx. 14 to 46. If you take that in count we do not have to pay more than 20 yrs ago even though all those guys were overpaying. How do you explain that ?

I won't try to dispute the argument's format. However, I think the the numbers you put into it are incorrect.

The going rate was probably less. Yet, I'll spot you the 300BT as a 'non-negotiated' rate because you're on record saying that you don't negotiate..

Reading the board, I'd guess that a lot of guys are paying at least 1500BT ST (plus a bar fine of 500-1000), and, during my negotiations, I lost a lot of girls who wouldn't budge below 2000BT because they were sure some sucker was waiting to approach. I'm figuring the guys who are not negotiating are probably averaging about 1750BT ST.

Now, your inflation factor is ~3, so, if the current, non-negotiated rate were only influenced by that, the current rate should be 900BT (still less than your 1000BT). Going with my numbers, which I think is far more accurate, based on the shit posted on this and other boards, we're seeing a factor of ~6, twice what we should see.

Now, assuming that 300BT was an unnegotiated rate, let's, just for fun, figure that the true rate was 250. An inflation factor of 3 would mean that I should be able to negotiate a girl down to 750BT these days. I found one girl out of Nana Disco that I managed to talk down (with the help of my girly) to 700BT. Against that one exception, I negotiated hard with at least 10 other girls who wouldn't drop below 1000BT, and 2 out of that 10 wouldn't get below 1500BT (I never paid more than 1500BT after hooking up with my girly :)) Still, let's say that the number for all 10 was 1000BT. That's still 10:1 that are at a price gouge factor of 4. So, based on the numbers, as I see them, there is certainly an increasing trend in cost that is not due to inflation and exchange rates.

I no longer want to live in Thailand, but, I've got the Post-LOS Depression so badly that I told a former client that I'd take a 50% pay cut to be able to work remotely. Foolish fucker turned me down, so I'm stuck stateside for several months as opposed to galavanting around SEA sowing seed into rubbers inside LBFM's of Thai, Viet, Cambo, etc nationalities. :(

I was out there yesterday, to check that new bar/restaurant, as mentioned before.

Timbevati Lounge is located in Soi 33, left hand side, opposite the side road which leads to The Office Bar.

Yesterday was the grand opening, the place was packed until around 11 PM. A band was playing, a buffet prepared, free drinks until 9 PM. The object is interesting. African style, the name means “Place of the Lions”. The place is huge.

In the moment it is only a steak house, with a nice interior, some bar areas, it doesn’t seam to me to be a pick-up joint for girls. I spoke to the owner: There will be a sports bar soon, in which you will find hostesses, and in the upper part of the building the construction work for a hotel (20 rooms) is already ongoing. It’s a quite unique place with this open access to the swimming pool area – haven’t seen something like that in Bangkok up to now.

Will go there sometimes and post news.

the given numbers were prices payed in Pattaya, not BKK.
Barfine was 100 at a bar and 300 at a gogo. Salary for the girl (bar and gogo) 300 LT if customer was young (I was :)) and 500 LT for older customers.
There was no real difference between a ST or LT as far as I remember, but surely you could bargain and get a ST for 200-250.
Today the barfine in Pattaya at a bar is 200-300, gogo 500-600 and a bar girl will be satisfied with 800-1000 LT, gogo girl 1000-1500.
If your assumptions would be correct the impact of overpaying should be much bigger, if there is any at all.

I don't want to discuss about a fraction of a percentage, take in count that exchange rates have changed in our favour and add a bit inflation, nothing had really changed over the past 20yrs.
