I agree the Miri forum is alot 'quieter' then the Kuching Forum. Maybe there are more members from Kuching? No clue. Went there to check out the place yesterday afternoon. Wanted to try the special package.
Asked for viewing but they don't let you view all in one go. They called for the MLs and they will come 2 by 2, one Tomyam and one PRC. A decent twin bed room with Grand O'lady view at Cosy Inn is 75 MYR. I think the single bed rooms are around 50 MYR. Down 5 meters is potentially a 40 MYR flop.
Further, there's a dozen 0 to 3 star flop options like Millenium Inn near or in the shopping complexes just south of Mega Hotel. If you stay within the area confines of Mega Hotel, Jalan Bendahara and Jalan Nahkoda Gampar you'll find something reasonable. Just stay away from the places along Jalan Brooke that charge you extra just for being on a main road.

Another afternoon while stuck in Miri waiting on CNY to finish for shops to open and get cycling parts so I can head out of town.
Golden Lily, behind Mega Hotel and across the street, isn't too bad of a place to visit. As others mentioned, they'll try to get you to take the VIP room. Why? You're only there for a short-time to release tension. 1-hour massage session is 49 MYR.

Stayed at the Kemena Plaza Hotel in Bintulu last night. You can negotiate an exec floor, but not exec room, down to 108 MYR if pleasant to the receptionist. It'll be a nice room with an airport view. No wifi, except in lobby.
While I didn't partake of anything specifically other than a real massage and no extras behind City Plaza from a cute Pinoy, I did find that the Kemena Plaza security guard acts as the hotel pimp. If you catch him before 7 or 8 PM, you should be able to get a gal to come to your room for a short-term. After 9 or 10 PM, the girls head out elsewhere.
