I want to book a condo from this agency but don't know how good they are. I looked at dance watchers and honeys coffee house but didn't see any thing I liked. The website I did find with nice condos for rent is www.viewtaley6.com. Just like to know if anybody has used them. I assume you mean http://www.viewtalay6.com/ They are legit and I have used them many times.
Pekkakoo, I didn't read your list carefully but I believe View Talay 6 fits your needs as well.
I've stayed at several rooms at Baywalk Residence and I didn't find it noisy. Then again, I stay out quite late.
I think Areca Lodge is a great location. A 2-3 minute walk to the main baht bus route on Second Road, 5 minutes more if you want to cut through to Beach Road. You're literally steps away from LK Metro and closer to some of the fun on Soi Diana, Soi Buakhao, Third Road, and Soi Full Love Inn.

I did not rent via VT6.com people though. They do have an office onsite for check in, unlike Dancewatchers.
Do look carefully at each unit, as they are all different based on the owner. The bathroom set-up, ,kitcehette, balcony, view, ceiling fans (or not) wattage of the AC unit, quality of bed, furnishings, wifi and TV channel set up etc. Daily or every other day type for cleaning is additional. Also, you have to pay a non refundable deposit. The size of the units, are mostly the studio set up (45 sq m) or the larger one which I believe is about 100 sq m.

Then the next thing you know 4 of them are staying there with you. I've rented the 2 bedroom 153 sqm unit several times. View is unbeatable. A bit pricey but doable if you're only there a few days.

I feel much better now knowing they are legit. Just hope unit is still available when I'm ready to book. Seen same unit on airbnb but its a little cheaper thru viewtalay6.

And, you'll wonder if the 4 of them chatting away in Thai are actually hosting you as their guest?
I'm not sure you realize it, but I think you just put out a great advert for the 154 sqm unit! Haha.
As for me, I don't like letting the girls know I can afford a place like that. Their mind takes a logical journey up the magic dollar tree!!

You book it from this page. Yes, after booking you may have to follow up with them for a confirmation email but if you recheck the site soon after the booking you will notice your dates are no longer available.
Hopefully they have replaced that white sofa. Even in March it was getting a bit beat up.

I'm looking for a nice hotel for less than 1000 baht per night. I'd like for it to be easily accessible to the baht buses and somewhat quiet during the night.
I'd also like to book it now, but not pay until I arrive in Pattaya.
Fast WiFi and and a pool would be considered strong pluses.
Any ideas?

Pattaya hotel prices and availability can vary. In high season hotel prices can increase significantly, and lower priced category rooms can be scarce.
At your price point the Lek Hotel gets decent feedback: http://www.lekhotel.com/.

Had a 34 sq 1 bedroom apartment at 22th floor with amazing sea view. Found on Airbnb and Wimdu, only 1000 baht a day incl. Elec and water, no deposit. Motorbike 200 baht a day. Wifi work very good. The Condo is new and quiet, with 2 swimming pool and gym. No ID check for the guests, seems have very few monger here. Discret entry from the garage next to the lift, so no walk of shame in the hall LOL.

Do the security guards take the girl's ID?
You could check Sutus Court in soi Buakhao.Nice very clean hotel, good 2 pools, 2 bottle water a day, mini fridge in room, all good; however I hated they had no safe in room, but security (made of wood) boxes in open air lobby, never felt quite safe having my stuff their, I think I paid 999 bt a night, another note I can't believe until this day people recommend the biggest roach hotel, the penthouse dump, horrible been mentioned here numerous times how bad service and full full of roaches it is.
Greetings fellow members.
I am thinking of visiting Pattaya in the 1st week of December and was looking for a 4 or 5 star hotel near to soi 6. Looking at a map, it is not that clear.
The key points for me would be cleanliness, girl friendly, swimming pool and of course a decent wifi connection with good speed.
I am looking at the following hotels and was wondering if any board member could either suggest which is the best option or alternatively if I they can suggest something from experience that fits the bill.
Trio Hotel pattaya.
Tsix5 Hotel.
Many thanks in advance.

Soi 6 is not the greatest area. What comes to mind would be Centric Sea condo and Siam@Siam Design hotel. Soi 2 is a 5 minute walk from soi 6 and a better area, closer to the soapies.
Not sure if you have been to Pattaya before. Both Tsix5 Hotel in Naklua and Trio hotel are no where close (I would actually consider them far) to Soi 6 and not easily accessible without a motorbike. stay along the baht bus route like the rest of us. Wave hotel or Baraquda hotel will be close to 5 star quality.

Any other suggestions.
How about.
Amari Garden Pattaya.

Many thanks again.Baraquda, without hesitation (Accor hotels group.).
Does anybody have experience here? How's the place? Is it girl friendly? It's GF if you book and pay the double occupancy rate.
I've never stayed there, but others on this forum have noted that the Hard Rock is marketed toward families and group tours. The front desk / staff can make it uncomfortable for you and your GF guest if you're not discrete. A THB 1,200 "surprise" might be on your bill even if you paid the double occupancy rate so be prepared to fight the charge.
Guest Friendly policy reply by the Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya: Rocking greeting from the most happening hotel in Pattaya, if the guest booked his/her reservation under double occupancy rate, but staying as a single use during stay. The hotel honorably waive charge 01 joiner for the first person during the night; if the guests bring visitors more than 01 person, the hotel honorably waive charges only for the first person, and the others are chargeable at THB 1,200 net/person.

Hard Rock Hotel is guest friendly. But if someone has any difficulty bringing in guests in this hotel, there are so many other hotels of same or even better quality which will allow guests. So why worry?

Can't comment on breakfast since I never woke up on time. Location is one of the best for a decent hotel near WS. The more expensive room with the large sofa is much bigger and a better stay with the girls. Staff is good. Corridors can be a bit dark at night depending where your room is. Compare it to Aya Hotel and take the one which is cheaper.

Has anyone stayed at Baywalk Residence hotel? The locatio is close to walking street. I am considering this hotel for my next trip to Pattaya.Stayed there early 2015 and for the price it was a very pleasant experience and I like the fact that it is so close to walking street. And last week just booked again for (a too short) 6 nights for February on agoda / priceline!
Breakfast is up on the roof with nice views and the food is average. Not bad and it exceeded my expectations for the cost. However this time I decided not to get the breakfast included in the reservation.
There was an issue with ants in my room but the staff handled it quickly and the problem never came back. For my short stay I had, the 'night' staff barely looked up from the desk when I came home with a girl-- so they never collected an ID. Not sure if one would describe that as good service or bad service. Things may have changed since.
Has a surprisingly decent gym which I used a few times if exercise is part of your routine:).

Looks like I am just finalising my air travel and can now go ahead and book hotel.
As mentioned, I am looking for something not too far from soi 6 with good wifi and preferably a pool and of course G / F.
The hotels I am now looking at are.
Amari garden pattaya.
Bayview hotel pattaya.
Aya boutique hotel pattaya.
Just wondering if anyone could confirm if these meet the criteria.
Thanking you all in advance.

All the hotels that you have shortlisted are GF. They have a pool and good WiFi but none are near to Soi 6. Amari Garden Hotel is near Soi 1 at the entrance of Beach Road. Bayview Hotel is near Soi 10 whereas Aya Boutique Hotel is near Soi 13. If walking is not issue then you can reach these hotels by foot. You can still hire a motorbike or use the Baht bus.
However, I would suggest Pattaya Discovery Beach Hotel, a little expensive but nearer to Soi 6. Now, it's up to you.

My favorite Barakuda is sold out for 27-30th Dec. Can you guys suggest equivalent hotel for 100 bucks for night.
I am so disappointed with high season in Pattaya. Not sure if it's worth the visit this time.

From Christmas to New Year is a very busy period because of high inflow of tourists. It's advisable to book a room through the online booking sites to be sure to have a room. The distance is not a problem as you can reach anywhere by foot, bike or Baht bus.

I am so disappointed with high season in Pattaya. Not sure if it's worth the visit this time.Siam at Siam Design Hotel appears to be similar to Barracuda in that it is high tech and modern. I wandered through the hotel a few months ago but did not stay there. The hotel is further north on Second Road but baht busses are easy to catch there. There are less monger guests and more tourists at Siam but that should not be a problem. I didn't inquire if the hotel was guest friendly.
SamWise1 are you concerned about not liking Pattaya during high season because your favorite hotel is booked? Worried about crowds? I am curious why you feel visiting in high season may not be worth it.

The girls have to leave ID at concierge and you have to sign a paper that hotel doesn't take any responsibility if your gurst does harm you, but that's all. Even 2 girls were no problem.
I posted a full a full review with pics about this hotel in a forum with pattaya addicts.

You may never see them again. Also, the Japanese have no morals and will barfine a girl even if she is sitting with you having a drink. If you're interested, let mamasan know you are at least considering barfine.
I've already noticed a huge influx of girls in the gogo bars. Yes the bars are much busier with men now but the girl selection is fantastic.

I'm looking forward to book a Hotel in the first week of Jan for 5 nights. Here are my thoughts:
1-I've a budget of around 50-60 USD per night. GF environment is expected since I might bring a lady.
2-Previously I've stayed in Premier Inn and Areca Lodge and both of them were good stays. Want to try somewhere new this time.
3-Siam Design Hotel looks appealing but just thought to have a quick suggestion from others.
Of-course my review would be on it's way after my stay. TIA.

First week of January is still high season, not easy to get a very good hotel at that price. However, you may try: 1. The Stay Hotel on Soi 10 or 2. Encore Seaside Residency on Soi 12. Siam Design Hotel will be more expensive.

Someone here one said they liked to be dropped off on Soi Post Office and look around for a room. I ended up in Pattaya without reservations for lodging just before dawn (long story. I will spare you as it would be of little value to the forum) The proximity to Beach Road as a hunting ground for freelancers made that a good choice. Picked up two freelancers off of Beach Road in the general vicinity of my hotel. Oh yeah, I was going to do a review of the hotel.
So, I had a moto taxi drop me off in the center of the soi. I had done a brief bit of research on the neighborhood and saw something about Max Hotel and Italian Restaurant. Walked up to the desk and was quoted 800 for a standard and 950 for the superior. We are at the lower end and fearing the worst I sprung another $4 for the Superior. It was 6 am by that time, but the young Thai dude behind the counter mentioned nothing about any additional costs. I paid for the first night plus a 500 baht deposit, for which I was given a receipt. There was a drink cooler behind the counter, but he pointed out there was a lock on it and directed me to the 7-11 across the street for beverages. Walked up to the second floor and passed a tatted up woman looking worse for the wear. I guess she was someone's LT on the way out.
The room was actually nice, though the bathroom small and the shower stall was tiny. There was a small, shallow balcony but I never bothered to go out on it. What good is such a small balcony really except for smoking a cigarette on? This was one of the places where there was no electricity in the room, unless the card key is in its slot by the door. It also controls the electrical outlets as well as the lights. I was wondering why my phone wasn't charging when I left. LOL. And the AC isn't going to keep your room cool when it is gone. A small torn towel was thrown on the bathroom floor. I didn't realize that it was the only towel in the room til I stepped out of the shower. Not good.
I slept a few hours and caught the chambermaid in the hall and explained that there were no towels. She took care of it promptly and I slipped her a 100. She definitely liked that and she took care of me afterwards as far as keeping the room all tidy and stocked with fresh towels. However, I had trouble working the safe. Apparently so did another farang. He was at the front desk talking to the young woman who was now working the front desk. She came to my room after visiting his, but could not get the safe to take my code properly. I don't know if she just didn't know how to operate it or she lacked the English skills to explain how. (there was no instructions like the safes at the other hotels I have stayed at). That was a deal killer for me. I was planning on bringing freelancers into the room and not being able to lock up your valuables was a deal killer. Later that evening I saw an older farang man reviewing some documents at the front desk. I presumed this to be the Italian owner. However, when I tried to voice my issue about the safe, he pointed to the lady working the desk without a single word. One bad black mark there. Ineffectual ownership.
Nonetheless, I managed to stash my cash, cards and documents discretely (something I am good at).
Brought a cute Laotian girl up from Beach Road, and she was checked in with no problem after offering her ID (she had a Thai ID but identified herself as Lao). She looked really young, but the girl at the counter had no issues, so I guess she was actually 22 like she said. Photo below.
The next day, the young guy who was working the front desk on my arrival asked me if I was staying. I said I was checking out, and disgruntled due to the inability to operate the room safe. He didn't understand English well, but the chambermaid translated for him. Her English was much better. I don't know why she was cleaning rooms, as she wasn't half bad looking. She always smiled at me. I thought it might be the nice tip I gave her, but it occurred to me just now that maybe there was a ST opportunity for her to make a small stack of 100 baht bills from Mr. Nice Tall Farang. He told me there was a 400 baht charge for the early check in. Fair enough, as I checked in 8 hours earlier but I would have liked to have known that up front. I later noticed a sign at the desk that stated a 400 baht late checkout charge, and also stated that TWO GIRLS in your room was free, but each additional girl was subject to a 300 baht joiner fee per head. And I must emphasize the sign used the word "GIRL", not "guest".
I ended up staying the second night. It would be a waste of time and hassle to move given that I was leaving for BKK the next morning. I sucked up and paid the second night. The second night I picked up a girl off of Beach Road. When we got to the hotel, she didn't have her ID. There was some discussion with the young guy who was working the front desk (yeah, the same young guy) that was alternately joking and serious in tone. She asked me if I could buy her one of the beers from the cooler behind the counter. However, it was after hours to sell alcohol at that time. But, there was a legal workaround. Max has a Bar and restaurant that is basically the same as the lobby. The waitress brought us out two bottles of LEO and sold them to us as a restaurant purchase. When I got upstairs the girl said the guy at the front desk stipulated without her ID she would need to pay him 200 baht! She asked for another 200 baht but I said I would take care of it with the dude at the front desk when we finished. When we did finish and go downstairs, he was not there. Another lady, who was really cute and nice was now working the front. I explained the situation and asked if I owed her anything on account of the girl. She smiled and basically said something to effect that I wouldn't owe her anything until we started breaking things in the room. In which case it was going to cost me a lot more than 200 baht if we did. We laughed that off and my "beach girl" disappeared into the night.
Next morning the young dude was working the front when I checked out. I gave him the deposit receipt. He reminded me of the 400 baht charge for the early check in and went through the stack of deposits, which were literally currency attached to paper clip to their copy of the receipt. He reached in his deposit and gave me a hundred baht bill from his pocket. Only later did I realize what he was doing. He was going to pocket the 500 baht deposit I had given him. Likely he was the only one who knew about the early check in. What a scammer! Not only did he try to shake down the girl I brought in, but he was cheating his employer.
In summary, I would like to be able to love the Max. The location is perfect for picking up girls on Beach Road. Its easy walking distance to Walking Street and not too far of a walk to Soi Metro, Soi Diana, Soi Honey. Soi 6 was more of a walk but the baht bus at the top of the block would get you there quick enough. The price is okay and there are amenities nearby, as well as ample bars and in necessary, a post office. But, the integrity of the men working there spoiled the deal. I sense if the ladies ran the place, it would be cool, though they would need to learn how to operate the safe.

A friend of mine is currently in Pattaya and stay at Penthouse Hotel (I honestly do not understand why he chose this old hotel). Anyway yesterday he took one girl back at hotel for ST in the afternoon, then he took another lady back in the evening and the reception staff stop him and ask 800 baht for guest fee and they explain to him that they allow only one guest for day. He was shocked and bitterly surprised, complained a lot but they were adamant about, pay or go to ST room.
This is a first time I herd that PH have this bad policy about guest, just curious to know if is normal routine there or he just got a scam from reception staff.

So, as in the case of room sharing (room packing) the normal joiner benefits of the Penthouse will not be enjoyed in full, logical if you think about it, don't you think?

We used it for just a fuck base for the day time STs. They allowed 2 girls max the whole day and if we brought back a 3rd then we had to pay the joiner fee. We did not sleep in the shithole but we did use the room for the tub, open shower, sex swing. Etc.
So if you know going in that there is a 2 girl MAX per room per day then it works. Personally I would not stay there again.
Stay safe.

Let me guess, your friend is from the sub-continent and is sharing his room with another, correct? You guess wrong man, my friend is a caucasian man from Europe like me and he is in Pattaya alone, no share room.
I have stayed at the Penthouse Hotel several times and have never run into any joiner restrictions, although reading the policy it looks like it has changed a bit: https://www.penthousehotel.com/guest_friendly_hotel_in_pattaya_city_on_beach_road_near_walking_street.html.
From what I remember it used to be a limit of two outside joiners gratis at a time; now it appears to specify two outside joiners gratis for the entire day.
Sad if this is the case because 2 times with a BR freelancer and a DD overnight outcall would not be an uncommon day in Pattaya for me.

You guess wrong man, my friend is a caucasian man from Europe like me and he is in Pattaya alone, no share room. That's cool. Then, your friend should be well aware each guest is allowed two joiners, I used to read reports online and stayed away from PH for a long while, but I have now personally stayed many times, only had to pay for the third or more. My personal total is eight so far. Certainly my favorite hotel as a monger and a great place to stay in Pattaya. Must have stayed at least a dozen times.
Their joiners policy is stated on their website, I remember first not understanding it as I was in a hurry to book, I emailed them and they gave me a simpler explanation.
Manager is an English, Australian or maybe American fellow, I don't remember for certain, just ask for him if there's a misunderstanding and help is required. Although all their reception staff are quite good in communicating too. Or email 'them.
Anyway, Happy New Year to you and your friend.
Have fun guys, its the New Year!

SL.SL, don't worry, still two at a time. I can assure this as I have stayed at the Penthouse just as recent as early November.
Happy New Year.
Staying at the LK Empress. Good hotel and is girl friendly. Close to everything. Soi 6. LK Metro. And walking street. The breakfast is OK but nothing special. If you want 2 girls it is 500 baht for the second girl. Rooms are clean and has good AC.
Hi guys,
Any comments on Avani resort.
Planning to book terrace suite for mid January.

Any suggestions.

Anyone know of a hotel not too far from the action but QUIET. I saw a place called the Mind Inn, looks nice, but sure if girl friendly. The Sabai Inn on Soi 2 is my go-to hotel in Patts. Good sized rooms for around 800-1000 baht / night and you can use the very nice pool at the Sabai Lodge across the street, and while it doesn't have a restaurant on the grounds, the very good Sabai Lodge's Sala Thai restaurant is actually closer to the Sabai Inn than it is to most of the rooms in the Sabai lodge. And the location is very close to the Big C mall, and the Baht buses go right past the front door of the hotel, so you can easily get to whatever lady venue you wish and just as easily bring the lady you choose back with you for 10 baht each of you for the ride. Totally girl-friendly, of course, as well.

IMHO, The superior rooms are worth the premium over the standard rooms, because they have a window that faces out doors, whereas the standard rooms are on the inside of the building and don't look out on daylight.

During my trip last year in Feb I stayed at a Tweet Tweet Nest Inn, though the name is a little weird, the hotel is awesome with spacious rooms, wifi and definitely girl friendly. Its on Soi 8 and near to the Beer Bars, also its like a 30 second walk to the Beach Road from where you can catch a quick ride to Walking Street. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant but there is one right next door.

I wouldn't consider tweet tweet nest a quiet hotel. It is a great place though. Nice large rooms in an excellent location. Friendly staff. Girl friendly but girl needs to be over 21.
Also won't be anywhere near the 1000 baht price tag the poster is looking for.
I've stayed at the Sandy Spring a few times for short stays of a couple or three nights, but no more. It is a bit basic and tired now, even the revamped rooms on the upper floors, but I kinda liked it. The location is great on Soi 13, halfway between 2nd Road and Beach Road and close enough for me to walk to places that took my interest or to hop on a baht-bus for those a bit further afield.
It was quiet and the rooms were OK. But the noise coming from Hooters now is just too much in the rooms at the back overlooking the pool and Hooters itself.
Extreme bass seems to be the current favorite, moves the earth and not in a good way. Stayed early December 2016.

I didn't hear much noise from Hooters but that hotel is protected by the AA Hotel. I would say if staying in Sandy Spring Sea / Pool view rooms the noise would be unbearable. I noticed the Haven Hotel & Restaurant building was demolished, probably the noise from Hooters drove them out of business. I used to really like getting breakfast in the Haven but now it's gone!

Hey guys,
I will be travelling to Pattaya soon. I love BJ bars, so a collection of them is a jackpot for me. After several research I found out that there are several BJ bars next to each other in Bang Lamung. The cluster of Club 4, 007, Pirates etc. The problem is there are no nearby hotels or condos that I can find. The nearest was a resort that looks shady? And the Full love Inn hotel which is a short time place. I will be in Pattaya for 2 weeks. If anybody could suggest decent nearby places to live, it would be great.

But I will be wanting to go to the BJ bar multiple times a day at random times (basically whenever my mood wants to), so I don't want the hassle to get a motorbike taxi to drive me to the BJ bar every time I feel like getting a BJ. I would rather just walk 3-4 mins and be there. I hope you do understand that the main reason for the trip is to just get a shitload of BJ's from BJ bars and almost nothing else, so I would prefer to take the motorbike taxi's to other places (like beach road, rather than live opposite beach road and take the motorbike taxi to the BJ bar). Thank you for understanding and possibly helping xD.

Thanks.1 - Not a good choice to stay near Soi 6, it's too crowded except morning hours. Best place is to cross the Second road and stay somewhere walk-able from Soi 6.
2 - It'd be real hard to get a nice hotel in this budget. Search for "Premier Inn" which is not so far from Soi 6. Apart from there are some properties which aren't listed online but can go and make the booking on demand. May be you can book a nice hotel for a day or two and after reaching there can roam around to find a nice place as per your budget near Soi 6.

Thanks.Use Google to search on Pattaya Hotels. Then switch over to maps view. Find Soi 6. Zoom in a little. The map shows hotels and prices. You will for sure find small guesthouse properties in your budget and all hotels are girl friendly. I was staying in Centara Pattaya for about 1,700 and there are many in that area across 2nd road.

Hi Guys,

Cheers Del.It is a fine hotel in a near ideal, quiet location. I have stayed here each time I go to Pattaya. The rooms are a good size and the staff is friendly. Only real downside is that the rooms are dark due to the wood paneling and the lighting not being the greatest. The hotel is a you shape, and every room I have been in faces the interior of the you where the view is of the rooms on the other side, plus you get little sunlight coming in. But if you are out all night, this is all a good thing as it is easier to sleep in a dark room.
But yes, a good place to stay for being relatively cheap.

Extreme bass seems to be the current favorite, moves the earth and not in a good way. Stayed early December 2016.I have stayed there the last few times. True, an upper, ocean facing view will provide the full onslaught of Hooter's booming disco from maybe 7/8 pm until 2 am. However, unless you nap up until the time WS starts to wake up, or go to bed before WS starts to die down, it is not a concern. Staying on a lower floor is not much of a problem.
I have, thus far, only stayed here or at the nearby Dynasty. Dynasty is a bit cheaper for a room that really isn't much different. The room is painted white so it is cheerier than the Dynasty, but if you use a laptop for surfing or writing, they have no writing desk or chair with a back. You use the side table and effectively have to sit on a stool. The Dynasty has a proper writing table and chair. That is important to me as I spend a few hours each day documenting my experiences for your all's reading pleasure.

Hi,
Is it a roll of dice getting girl friendly room w no fee? Are most places non fee? I'd like a Bayview room walking distance to walking street. Anyone stay at either Amari hotel? I know its not walking distance but rooms look sweet and great price.
Great hotel, perfect location, just a short walk to WS. Nice rooftop pool, average breakfast buffet (I'd recommend not paying for it and grabbing your own). Sadly I'll never stay here again, all of my buddies including myself had trouble connecting to the WiFi. And you can tell the guy in charge of helping you get connected is being run ragged from room to room. I have free data on my plan so it's not a big deal for me. Until I try to chat with my friends in the other rooms. Book the baywalk at your own risk.

Most of the hotels on HW and Priceline name your price / express deals are name brand chains, that tend to have restrictions on bringing unregistered guests. I'd just book a known guest-friendly place directly.

Camelot hotelI've always been curious about this place as a ST hotel or for a quick night near WS. Is it clean (ie. No bugs, clean sheets and towels, bathroom clean, bed is decent, etc.)?
My first trip to Pattaya (2 days only unfortunately). Would love to stay walking distance of action (especially FLs). Prefer WiFi and in-room safe. Suggestions up to 2000 range?I chose Dynasty Inn on Soi 13 based on recommendations from this board. It's close to the Beach Road FL's, but a bit of a walk to WS and the iBar / Insomnia FL's but easy to do unless you have a girl in tow. Easy to use baht bus or moto taxi if so. I use the walk to scope the FL's on Beach Road. Hotel is also a short walk to LK Metro and Soi Buakhao. Just head up Soi Diana, you can check out beer bar action on the way.
I got it for about $40 US per night on Agoda (1400 baht). WiFi works well, in-room safe, refrigerator, balcony, hotel staff is nice, guest friendly (additional charge for more than 1 girl though) I would add my recommendation, only knock I have is that rooms are a bit dark, but the Thai girl you bring back will appreciate (they are shy and always want to keep it dark).
Have fun.
Far from the least expensive hotels (roughly $120 or so per night for a non-jacuzzi room on Expedia), the Baraquda served me well for four nights. Fantastic front staff was respectful of the ladies (held IDs and consistently followed up with calls upon their exit). One doorman / bellhop in particular was keen to follow along in the fun of discussing dealing with Pattaya's No. 1 specialty. Lovely pool area and the adjacent, airy restaurant serves a nice buffet breakfast at roughly US $11 (not included in my rate).
The location is ideal, on Pattaya Road 2 (with the baht bus running north; easy returns on the Beach Road run going south -- just cross through Soi Post Office, as I think it was called, and enjoy the "yoo hoo sailor's" from the massagee girls.
Now where the Baraquda really went beyond the call was when a barfine and I woke up to shower for a morning session. The girl (early 20's, from some Japanese-oriented gogo on Walking Street), sweet and honest thing, emerged from the shower to tell me she needed to "go to 7-Eleven". WTF? She pointed out the blood on the hotel bathrobe, looked like a Manson crime scene. (The bed, fortunately, just had one spot; she had slept in the robe) Right here I'd say "shit!" except that would be a story for another night (to follow) She agreed that since no long-term benefit would be coming my way was that I'd be paying the short-time rate. No issues there, and upon reflection, she was a good provider and I'm firmly of the belief she had intended to fulfill her morning duty. Had I had time to burn, I'd have shown up at her gogo to hand her a little more money. But back to where the Baraquda came through was their complete understanding about the bathrobe, which I feared was a total loss and would be billed to me. (This I explained to the poor girl, too, hard case that I am.) The cleaner was over the moon with a hundred-baht tip.

Can I check which websites people recommend for hotel price comparisons? I have used Agoda religiously in the past but am finding it a bit hit and miss recently.
Probably no point in checking it as much if most of the hotels are advertising elsewhere.

JoS.Trivago ofcourse. Checks almost every booking site and gives you the best price.
Then don't book through them but through a cashback site or your Airline FF e-store. Use always hotels.com and not booking.com because with every 10 nights you will get 1 free at hotels.com Plus they have 'best price guarantee'. So if you see better price somewhere else you will get the difference refunded. As well: if prices drop after you book they give you a voucher you can use for your next booking.

Not sure if this has been reported or not. I heard yesterday that you can store your suitcases for free at Areca Lodge in between visits to Pattaya. Not sure how many days you need to stay or how long between trips but this sounds like a decent option for those who visit option and like the LK Metro area.

I've searched this thread and couldn't find any mention of it. Location is not exactly ideal but I don't mind that too much. I have searched the net and it's supposed to be guest-friendly. The reviews sound OK but I wondered if anybody was aware of anything detrimental?
Many thanks in advance.
Hi all,
I read back about 15 pages but I can't find any mention of this place http://www.meramarehotel.com/.
It's right next to the Hard Rock not sure if it's a good spot or not but the main question is if I'm ok bringing girls back? I am going for Christmas and New Years and I want a nice place, most are pretty booked up already but this place not only has a no charge cancellation policy, you don't have to pay until December 21 which is nice. It's about $110 USD for a sea view rooms which seems reasonable?
Any advice is welcome if this place isn't GF.
TIA.

TIA.There are so many to choose from it makes me wonder what led you to this one. I guess it is the "already booked up" aspect. I often get a very good room closer to Soi 6 for about half that price at Centara Pattaya or Nova Gold for example. They are not on BR but suit me fine for the comfort level, price point and ease of mongering. Then I scout Soi 6 on foot and continue via baht bus on beach road if I'm still exploring. I have no interest in a sea view room but I know that some do for their holiday. You will have to inquire directly with the hotel to know for sure. If they are not GF they will certainly be unusual. Basically all hotels there are GF especially if you book for 2 guests. The unknown is the policy if you want to do a threesome. Before you book there I would recommend that you find a "monger map" online and decide what area you want. Then use a site like google maps to see your hotel choices, then go to hotels, com to find good review info, pricing, booking etc. You stay 10 nights through them and you get 1 night free. I also wonder what booking site you used that showed so many already booked up. I'd check that on another site to be sure or if you follow my listed technique for locating a hotel try to make your booking directly with the hotel and you might find that they have not shared all of their inventory with the booking site that you searched with.

Mera Mare is a first class hotel and it is indeed guest friendly.
Hi all,
I read back about 15 pages but I can't find any mention of this place http://www.meramarehotel.com/.
TIA.Do you need a sea view room? If not why not look at Baraquda on Second Road? I stayed there and loved it. Service is fantastic, girl friendly, modern rooms, great walk-in shower, Accor hotel chain, outstanding location--closer to the action than Mera Mare. Price looks to be equal to or lower than Mera Mare. I like staying on Second Road. It is convenient for you and your girl to take a baht bus down Second Road very late at night from Walking Street.

Maybe it's just me but I thought Mera Mare rooms were every bit as nice as Baraquda. A different style for sure. Mera Mare is a newer hotel. If you're really looking for a high end room try Wave Hotel on Beach Road.

Happy Hunting.I stayed five nights in late February-March, and I've praised this hotel here before. Great location, great staff (girl-friendly; be sure to book a double as per SOP, and they uniformly will call after you toss the girl back into to sea to ensure that all is well in the world with you and your security), nice buffet breakfast, and the pool area is an oasis a minute away from the action on Soi 13. Fantastic locale for catching the baht bus north to Soi 6 and the major soapies. Baht bus return along Beach Road to the McD's on 13; Walking Street is a quick hop. If I have any regrets it would be that I didn't find something in this area sooner, having stayed previously at the Hard Rock and at the former Furama (now called the DVaree or somesuch; now the haven of Russians and Chinese and it has slipped, and hard) in Jomtien (it's a calmer scene, yes, but just too far removed) before. If you think the Barraquda fits, book it on the Accor site directly (versus Expedia, which I had done) and you will save significantly.
Thanks guys, I booked through Agoda and they were showing a fair amount of places were near booked up. 2 main reasons I went with Mera Mare were that it looked new and higher end in the pictures, since I haven't been on a holiday in ages I like the sea view idea and something a bit out of the way so I can just relax in the hotel for a day and recharge if needed, and they also had a no charge cancellation that you don't pay until just before you go. I thought best to grab something to make sure I have a nice spot and it's easy enough to change later if needed / wanted.
Is it really that inconvenient just to hop a cab back to the hotel with a girl? I am not going with limitless funds but at the same time I don't really care about a 100 baht here and there either. Being a noob in Thailand I'm figuring on 4 to 5 thousand a day on top of hotel / flight, I have traveled a lot and know enough to avoid most scams and not to get overly attached. That being said if I find one I really like I have no problem hanging on to her for a few days, going to be fierce competition for all you guys that time of year for the hot ones LOL.

You definitely won't be disappointed at Mera Mare or Baraquda as a hotel. The taxi mafia will charge you 200+ baht from Walking Street to Mera Mare for you and your girl. Baraquda will be 20 baht for 2 of you. Getting to walking street will be 10 baht from Mera Mare. As a tourist staying 1 or 2 weeks I am sure that will not matter one bit.
Glad you have budgeted 4-5 k per day. This may or may not be enough for LT for a top gogo girl on WS. Depends how much she wants to be with you.

Obviously 10 and 20 Baht fees are not what we call taxis in Bangkok, since taxis have a minimum charge and a meter. I assume they are actually "Song Thaews" (means "two rows" of bench seating) right? With two rows of seats on the back of covered pickup truck? Do people actually call them taxis? In other parts of Thailand I have never heard them referred to as taxis. I thought they were normally euphemistically referred to by tourists in Pattaya as the "Baht bus"? Even though not actually a bus either.
The Thai word for proper taxi (taxicab) is "thaek-see" same as English (but emphasis shifted to last syllable), but not normally used for other types of vehicles. Thais would not understand the short word Cab in general unless have excellent English, and certainly not "Cabbie". For Thais, each different style of transport vehicle has its own particular name, usually, e.g. Motor Cy(cle), Tuk Tuk, Samlor, Rot Dtuu, etc.
I have not been to Pattaya for over 20 years, you can probably tell. Perhaps I will go next week for a look.

You have to negotiate a rate before the ride. It's my biggest pet peeve about Pattaya. The trip from Mera Mare to WS is a convenient one on the baht bus at 10 baht per person.

Likely not the best week to go. Girls are still with their families after working all of high season. However, if it's the only time you can get away go for it.
I noticed the Haven Hotel & Restaurant building was demolished, probably the noise from Hooters drove them out of business. I used to really like getting breakfast in the Haven but now it's gone! It's not gone. They have moved to Soi Lengkee. Just google it.

I just returned from a quick 4 day trip to Pattaya. I stayed at Areca Lodge on Soi Diana Inn, just off 2nd Road.
I checked the prices on Agoda a month ago and it worked out to SGD 60 for a deluxe room with pool view, including breakfast. I wrote directly to the hotel stating this and asked if they could better the offer. They offered SGD 58 per night including breakfast and threw in two complimentary cocktails per day. And they agreed that I would pay at the hotel directly. Check in was handled smoothly by a very courteous staff. The room was very good, quite spacious at 32 sqm, well appointed with all necessary amenities. The balcony was a bit cosy but the view is great.
The property is very large and has two pools. The one at the back across the Evergreen wing is massive and has an adjoining bar. The one in front is relatively smaller and quieter but has bar service at the poolside as well. The pool is great, not too deep though. Very well maintained. Clean pool towels readily available in abundance. Comfortable sundecks too with nice shady parasols.
The hotel is definitely girl friendly. Bring as many girls as you want in a day. They won't bat an eyelid. I have not tried bringing in more than one girl at at time but I am quite certain it won't get their panties in a wad. Housekeeping staff and very efficient and flexible about when they clean your room. I did not call for any room service or have breakfast during my stay, so I have no comments about that.
The hotel is very accessible. Getting to WS will need a bike taxi, while getting back can be a baht bus ride. 2nd Road, Soi Diana and Soi Buakhaw are at walking distance. Soi 7, Soi 8 and Soi 6 are all accessible by baht bus. Getting back from those places would need a bike taxi though.
So in summary I would highly recommend staying here. This will be my hotel of choice for future visits.

The alternative is to walk to Soi Buakhao and take a baht bus to the end at South Pattaya Road and 2nd Road. WS is a 1 block walk from there. Be warned that on Friday night the baht bus stops near Tukcom due to the night market.

Both involve walking a bit more than what I am used to. 5555.
Clearly I am not in the same physical shape you might be in.
It's not gone. They have moved to Soi Lengkee. Just google it.The original discussion that my post pertained to was for hotels on Beach Road Soi 13, I was referring to the Haven that used to be on Soi 13.
I'm not like some of you guys, doubt I'd get more than 1 girl a day, I'm there for the party and experience as much as anything. Plus I won't be drinking a ton and I'm there a long time, I'm sure there will be some 8 k days and some 2 k days, it all evens out.
Stayed at the W14 for about a week. It's on Soi 14 off Walking Street.
Pros: Nice, new hotel on a quiet side street, steps away from Walking Street and 2nd Road. Friendly hotel staff, small, but adequate roof top pool, okay view depending on which room you get, quiet (maybe 20 rooms total) and girl friendly with ID check and phone call.
Cons: No elevator, so be ready for a workout if you're on floors 3 to 4. Soi 14 closes and has limited access so for shuttles, cars, and taxis, it's not the easiest place for a pick up or drop off. The breakfast buffet is in the hotel next door, Grand Hotel.
Conclusion: Great hotel, great location, just ask for a room on the first or second floor.

Not being difficult, just trying to help in making the report holistic.

Not being difficult, just trying to help in making the report holistic.1575 baht per night. Yes, there was a safe large enough for a laptop. My room did not have a balcony. My room did not have a bathtub, but there was a large glass rainfall shower. Yes, they provided basic toiletries but refilled only the soap and shampoo (no toothbrush, etc.). It felt like a nice 3.5 star Western hotel. Large room, nice shower, nice sized bathroom. My main issue was that they did not have any nightstands. The bed was on a platform and the lamps were on the floor. I did not eat at the hotel and there's only a small coffee bar in the hotel, so I'm not sure if room service is an option. Hi,
Does anyone really know why it's now closed, it was good spot, but could see it going down the s bend once the America owner sold it a few years ago.The following letter was posted here about 2 years ago. It seemed that they intended to close the entire hotel to remodel and rebrand, but I have a feeling that the money for such an undertaking just wasn't available, and the building was boxed in by the new hotels and condos surrounding it. The Premier Inn is just a few feet away.

Do you use taxi to bring girl back?
It seems taxi very exp. In Pattaya. Does it still cost at least 10 dollar even very close, say less than 1 mile?

The greedy taxi may require a flat 250 baht fare min. Fare even if it is close. You can always take motorbike taxi which is cheaper. This is less of a problem in BKK.

I NEVER use the taxis in Pattaya, except to the airport (1000 Baht) or to BKK.
For local journeys they are a complete rip off and will NEVER use the meter.
Book your hotel on Beach Rd or 2nd Rd and you will have no transport problems.
With the Baht buses and motorcycle taxis being so plentiful there is absolutely no necessity to use the Maffia controlled taxis.

Grab works quite good in Pattaya without the usual scam, still songthaeo IMHO usually is the better option (dependingon where you stay or where you want to go).

The greedy taxi may require a flat 250 baht fare min. Fare even if it is close. You can always take motorbike taxi which is cheaper. This is less of a problem in BKK.It depends on the taxi driver. Surprisingly I have had a taxi driver take me from WS to Tukcom for only 100 baht. I know it's a short distance but it was pouring out. I was shocked when he countered my 50 baht with 100 baht. He was moving, not parked. However, most around WS especially the parked taxis want your left nut to drive you 5 minutes. Always try grabbing a moving taxi rather than a parked one. Sometimes I Line one of my girls to pick me up. I offer free food and they come drive me. Their somtam and water or Thai BBQ is cheaper than the taxi.
BKK is a non issue since it's all metered. Never ask a driver how much. Always just say turn on the meter. Still remember Uncle V and I hopping into a taxi at Patpong and the driver wouldn't turn on the meter. He drove a block or so until I told him he had better turn on that meter or we're paying 35 baht. Oddly the meter got switched on immediately.

I hail one going past always in suspect locations. A taxi that has stopped very briefly can be OK in the right locations where a lot of Thais are picked up. If they offer me a satisfactory price I will take it. However they usually try for at least double my max price. In that case move to next taxi passing.

Stayed at these 2 hotels at 2 different instances lately. Following is the Feedback.
Areca Lodge. Pretty close to Second Road and Walking Street is within walk able distance. Lot of Food options nearby. They are expensive unless you book in advance. I reached there morning at around 10 AM and had to wait 1:30 Hrs to get check-in. Unfortunately the A/C in my Room broke in within 5 minutes of me switching it ON, they took almost 1:30 Hrs to fix it. They are quick to customer issues but sometimes have to tell them twice to get something done. Nice girl friendly hotel.
Siam Design Hotel. All good just a bit away from Walking Street but near to Honey Soapy massage parlors. They take a deposit of 500 bahts when you check-in, which will be returned back while checking-out. Nice roof-top pool, the tallest building in second road I believe.

I'm staying here now. The room is very nice. I've brought a couple girls back with no issues. They check and take her ID at the lobby, and when she leaves they call to make sure you're OK. I haven't found any girls along Pattayasaisong Rd but there is a lot of action there and plenty of bars nearby. The Sois right across the street are loaded with MPs, but that's not really my thing. I really could use a massage but I don't want to waste a load on anything that isn't closer to GFE. I've been walking the block to Beach Rd and finding freelancers. It works fine, but I sure liked have a balcony overlooking Beach Rd at the LK Empress last week. That was convenient. I'm headed over to Soi 6 in a bit to see if I can change my mind and try something other than a Beach Rd girl.
Plus: Very nicely located towards all establishments, room large, there is refrigerator and air-conditioner works well. I had King size bed -- very nice bed. Has separate door (suggested after 3 AM when Bell desk closes, but works 24/7) leads to the hotel in a semi-private manner and you have your own key and let in anyone you want without hotel staff requiring. Hotel Staff is very welcoming, supporting, and helpful. Price 800 baht per day. There is pool, but I never played it so I do not know if it is free for customers. Dennis answers on e-mail messages within 15 minutes -- very nice when I communicated about taxis.
Minus: constant noise from Go-Gos outside until 4 AM -- if you are sensitive to noise, this is NOT place for you. Only 2 towels, I had to pay for 2 more 100 Baht per day so I have 4 -- 4 is okay. Only standing shower, no bath-tab. 2 small pieces of soap, no shampoo or anything else (7/11 within 100 feet and everything can be obtain there).
I really enjoyed my stay: noise does not bother me, location is unbeatable. Laundry is ran by a British men, breakfast next door. Next to Soi 11 aka Soi Honey with massage parlors all over.

Can you please shed some light on the name of the hotel and how you made the reservation?
I am looking at standard sites like agoda / booking but not finding any great deals. My trip is in mid June and the rates I am getting are around 85-90 $ a day. Baraquda is the one I am zeroing in on at the moment but any insights would be greatly appreciated. My budget is around a $100 bucks a day.
My guess is he got a room at LK Metropole which is basically a 15 second walk to the LK Metro gogo bars through an alleyway. I just checked on hotels.com for you for a 7 night stay in mid-June. You can get the 740 square foot suite for $500 USD taxes in. I have stayed in the suite and the room feels large. Otherwise you can get the 400 square foot standard room for $300 USD taxes included. No kitchenette though. Dirt cheap for this hotel during low season.
In comparison, Baraquda's 400 square foot room is $708 USD for the same period. Imo LK Metropole is a better location, closer to LK Metro and baht buses along Soi Buakhao. Walking down Soi Diana to 2nd Road isn't all that bad. Bump into girls I know all the time.
For a further 10% off you can sign up for Hotel Rewards on hotels.com. One night free for every 10 nights you accumulate. I didn't check the many other hotel sites. May be a few dollars cheaper than hotels.com but no rewards program.
Thank you for the info. Very valuable for me.
Does LK metropole has any restrictions on the lady guests?
Cheers,

Sorry LG, I did not wanted to seem rude in the other section.
I'm staying at the Nova Express, 4 "thai" stars, currently $28 per night on Expedia. Very happy about it and location is great if you have a bike but even without it, is maybe 50 Bt. Motorbike taxi from anywhere. No hassle or issues of any sort.

Anyone happen to know whether this one is GF? I'm needing to get something in Patong (I'd prefer something closer to the agogo action, but this looks like a lovely property to chill at).
Thanks.

Thanks. It is indeed posh but. It takes 15 minutes from Bangla Road, taxis are pretty merciless is Patong. Money is better spent renting a car or bike.
I didn't had a girl with me but you can play cool reserving for two and not move from your rights, or call and ask in advance.

I stayed at this hotel February. Yes it is over the hill in Jomtien but 10 min Baht Bus is not bad and if there is desire for lower key, this is a great community- in the Jomtien Complex it is in the heart of the Gay district but it is only flamboyant after 8:00 or so, the hotel of about 60 rooms is newly remodeled- physically would be rated 4+ in US terms, price about 1500 Bt including breakfast for 2. Breakfast was a 5+ breakfast with high high quality. Rooms with big beds, two pools, guest friendly- both male and female, good staff but as at many english is not great- close to beach, baht bus, multiple bars, restaurants, markets. Would recommend highly, and I will rebook for next trip.
Stayed for a few nights at this hotel. Booked a slightly larger room and it was fine. Bed was very large and room was also large. Bathroom was tight and showing age. However the hotel was girl friendly and I saw many mongers late at night bringing back their catch.
Staff not overly helpful but not rude either. Only in the hotel to play and sleep so it did not bother me much.
Overall the hotel is on walking street next to Mixx nightclub making it easy to walk your catch back early in the morning.
Would recommend this one but get a larger room.
Happy Hunting.

Just a few blocks from Soi6 down a side road. Nice and very reasonably priced, good sized rooms with a king sized bed, balcony if you're a smoker. Very girl friendly. They take the girl ID when you arrive and give you a call when the girl leaves to make sure everything is OK. Its a 10 min motobike taxi ride from walking street.
Is Ibis Hotel girl friendly?? I have stayed there but never taken a lady back and never saw much of a bargirl scene, it was all families and there was a plaque on the reception desk that said something about not supporting "[CodeWord908] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908). " I'm guessing they aren't girl friendly, but wouldn't be surprised if they do allow girls back in the room.

Very good hotel, haven't been able to book it (other than 1 time) since because they rarely have near-same day vacancies. Decent memories there, and the mammaries weren't too bad either.

Decent memories there, and the mammaries weren't too bad either.April Suites got a stellar review by Bangkok112, a very popular Youtube Vblogger. I've read other great reviews of the place elsewhere, touting it as an excellent mid-range budget option, offering extra value for the money. When the word gets out about a good deal, this is what happens. Based on my past experience in the lodging industry, the logical nextstep is that they will raise prices until reservations drop off. That's known as "inventory management" in the lodging industry.

Happy Hunting.Stayed here as well recently and want to add: if you get the biggest suites that they have (which I did) they are literally on the front of WS so it's boomboomboom in your room with bass / music coming from the streets and also in the morning lots of noise from lots of sources. So it's not the best for those that want to sleep early or sleep in longer in mornings. I also thought the rooms showed some age and for the price it def. Wasn't the best value. Def girl friendly tho altho if you come In late you can count on it that you need to register her. In the morning it's a long walk then to the other part of the resort where a security guy will return her ID. They aren't kept at the central reception. Bit awkward always there but he can order a motorbike for the girl there at least.
Location wise of course the best for WS! All on your doorstep.
Based on my past experiences, I don't like noise, I go to bed early for Pattaya and so book a hotel far from Walking Street. Add 2 or 300 baht for taxi from WS as girls won't want to wait for ubers, but the hotels are usually cheaper anyway.
Hi Guys!
Am heading over there in August for some fun. Would like some recommendation of hotels that is walking distance to the agogo bars / etc. Will be concentrating on South Pattaya.
Thanks.

When I take my girl back to the hotel, we walk to Second Road from Walking Street and take the baht bus to the hotel for a total of 20 baht. I would never take a moto taxi. I'm too big, too old, and too afraid.

Am heading over there in August for some fun. Would like some recommendation of hotels that is walking distance to the agogo bars / etc. Will be concentrating on South Pattaya..If you mean gogo bars near Walking Street, 4 good hotels between Soi 13/2 and 13/3 are Baywalk Residence, Aya, Avani, and ISG favorite Baraquda. There are many cheaper and IMHO far lower quality hotels literally on Walking Street itself or on the side sois like Soi 14.
If you mean gogo bars near LK Metro, good hotels literally steps from LK Metro are LK Metropole, Areca Lodge, LK Renaissance, and Centara Avenue hotel. You can also airbnb many of the new condos near LK Metro.
Best way to get from LK Metro to Walking Street is a 10 baht bus on Soi Buakhao. Takes you to 2nd Road and South Pattaya Road, except on Tuesday and Fridays when it stops near Tukcom due to the night market. You may choose to opt for a 40-50 baht motorbike ride on those nights.
Walking Street to LK Metro is to take the always interesting baht bus from 2nd Road and South Pattaya Road to Soi Diana (Kiss restaurant) and take a quick walk to LK Metro.
As Allover says, as long as your hotel is one of the 100's anywhere along the baht bus route you're good.

Thanks.FYI, Avani just finished a remodel. Centrally located between LK and Walking street. After months of narrowing down my search I tried to decide between Hilton (that pool though), Barracuda, and Avani. All pretty close to each other. Started plotting the places I wanted to check out on google maps. Top go gos, massage parlors and top restaurants on a map. Including beertopia craft beer spot, Beefeater steakhouse, windmill and Benjamit coffee house to name a few best reviewed. I pulled the trigger on Avani. Bit more expensive vs barracuda but seems worth it. Way better pool with swim up bar and lush green environment IMO. It was hard to not take the communities Barracuda favorite. It is my first time so others here would have better advice. I will be arriving August 28th at Avani. After 3 nights in BKK.

I wasn't aware of this when I booked my room.
Last year in July when I stayed here last, there were no joiner fee. It was still a Marriott hotel at that time.

Last year in July when I stayed here last, there were no joiner fee. It was still a Marriott hotel at that time.Unfortunately, I read this post about 10 hours too late. Earlier today I saw a pretty good deal on the Avani Deluxe Garden room for $92/ night on Agoda and booked the room (advance purchase / no refund). And even though I have stayed at this hotel before when it was a Marriott a number of times in the past, I did check with a guest friendly hotel website to see if the Avani was girl friendly and that website confirmed that it was. So I am pretty pissed off.
Furthermore as some have aready said, the rooms here are ok, but not true 5* unless you are talking about the suites. But what I like about this hotel is the pool / garden area, the private back door onto Beach road, the location and it seemed like a good deal for $92/ night. But with a friggin' 1000 baht joiner fee, the rate becomes $121/night which is no longer such a good deal, but its not just about the money. In high season the Marriott was often $120/night or more. The issue is; I don't want to stay at "guest unfriendly" hotels. I don't feel the love, LOL, or the respect.
So tomorrow I think I will contact Agoda and try to cancel the reservation with a full refund. If that fails I will email the hotel manager and request either a refund or a pass for my "guests" politely informing him that he really does not want me to stay unwillingly at his hotel. And my third option is to go nuclear and dispute the charge or extra charge on my Sapphire Preferred Credit Card. I think I would probably win in a Credit Card dispute.
But what a needless pain in the ass. Vacations are supposed to be fun. I don't want to fight. I want to have a good time. So I hope they either refund my money or guarantee my sexy little friends a no hassle, guest friendly pass.
I will let you guys know how it works out.

Unfortunately, I read this post about 10 hours too late. Earlier today I saw a pretty good deal on the Avani Deluxe Garden room for $92/ night on Agoda ./You're a frequent flier here, so we'll assume you booked for two guests, in which case the Avani / former Marriott (I've thought about booking this place, which has a nice location) is way out of line. I haven't used Agoda recently (too much trouble trying the reach them from the States when I've needed to alter plans), but Expedia will credit $50 US without batting an eye (typically as credit toward a future booking; my typical complaint with Expedia is getting two twin / double beds instead of a single queen or king). Any hotel in Pattaya ought to know better than to force a joiner fee when a room has been booked for two, and you are right to warn us off of this place for violating the time-tested protocol.
TQ all for the recommendations.

Viper Z.Staying within walking distance from Walking Street is not really that important. It's more important to stay within walking distance from a baht bus route (the 'public' transport system). The most important route (from a mongering point of view) is Beach Road, South Pattaya Road and then Second Road (Pattayasaisong Road) all the way up to North Pattaya Road where they turn left to Beach Road again. Most of us are staying somewhere within this area.
You have to keep in mind that most Thai girls hate walking so when you have barfined a cutie from an Agogo she will accept that she has to walk 'all the way' to the end of Walking Street (where vehicles are not allowed at night) but from there on she will expect that you either take a motor bike taxi or a baht bus.
The Boutique City Hotel is not such a bad choice location wise, since there are also baht buses running along South Pattaya Road, but personally I wouldn't want to stay there. It's a bit out of the way and it doesn't really get good reviews on Tripadvisor.
If you read through this thread (and I mean not just a few pages but dozens of pages, because that's what a forum like this is meant for after all: not asking questions that has been asked many times already but reading, reading, reading) you will find many hotel recommendations.

Maybe try giving nuengruthai a bad email or two. I recommended the hotel to a friend only for him to find out about the joiner fee when he arrived. We have been ganging up on him. Maybe if a few others join in they will rethink this change. We have also made some comments on other traveler forums and booking sites they watch. I've labeled it as a scam. I actually called before I booked and they said no fees. So pretty angry about it. This was after months of planning it out perfectly I thought. But if anyone else has some time please join in on the complaints. With my planned itinerary this could be 2 k a day that wasn't in the budget.

The baht buses waiting at the beginning of WS are not 10 bhat. For the buses we are familiar with, you have to take a right (east) when you exit WS and walk down to 2nd road, then cross the street to the right and, on 2nd Road, you will find a line of baht buses who will transport you away for the customary 10 baht. They load up to capacity before leaving, so you might have to wait a few minutes and get squished a bit.
A WS girl showed me this and this is how I usually take a girl back, thinking it was the normal, expected way to leave. But last time, the girl requested a motorbike. I said ok, and it made me think that maybe I had been a Cheap Charlie. Seems like the bike fee was not much more than 100 TB to the Dynasty on Soi 13, but I really don't remember. Compared to the cost of the girl, it was tiny, so maybe this is how I will go back with a girl henceforth. Thoughts?
Hi guys,
Me and a friend will be doing our first trip to Thailand early next year and are seriously considering staying at the Penthouse Hotel. The concept looks great but does it live up to its hype? We like the idea of being close to Walking Street but in other members opinions is it worth it. I'm open to other suggestions that would suit a couple of newbies to Pattaya.
Thanks in advance,
Rob.

This should be 'then cross the street to the left'.
And these days the baht buses are not lining up right around the corner anymore but about 100 metres down the road on Second Road.

I wouldn't make a big deal of it, taking the baht bus is very common.

Well this morning I recieved an email reponse from Avani Management:
Dear Mr. Bummpo,
On behalf of Khun Somsak.
Thank you for your email and reservation,
If you made the reservation for two guests and check-in together there is no companion fee. Should you wish to bring a companion after you have checked in and registered, we charge a companion fee of THB 1000 per companion per day.
This is in line with most upscale hotels in Pattaya and in accordance with guidelines we have received from the Thai government and their efforts in changing the image of Pattaya by restoring safety and happiness for all visitors. This new policy is not related to the change from Marriott to AVANI, but based solely on the instructions from the Thai government and has been enforced since 1st May 2017.
Should you wish to cancel your reservation based on above, please contact agoda and we will honor a free of charge cancelation fee.
Best Wishes,
Torgrim

I thinks this email states Avani's position on "guests" quite well. I could argue with the truth and logic of their explanation of the new policy, for example the Hyatt, another upscale Pattaya hotel is still girl friendly as far as I know, but that would be a waste of time. Avani has every right to run their business anyway they want. I say good luck with the new policy. I no longer want to stay at this hotel and I will cancel my reservation with Agoda this morning and get a full refund.
It is a shame, however, and perhaps another sign of the shifting times in Pattaya like the change in Soi 6 bar buisness hours. I will always fondly remember the good times I had at the Marriott Pattaya and the wonderful girls I brought back here in days gone by. I am now undecided on whether I will visit Pattaya this next trip. I very well might book another hotel if I see another attractive deal, and who knows, this may be the beginning of the end for Pat, so there is a real incentive to visit one last time before more changes come down the pike, but on the otherhand, I am perfectly happy to stay in BKK, my prefered destination, and not give it a second thought.
They weren't as kind to me. Hoping to get a full refund but seems he is bulking. Hopefully, he comes back with a refund offer after I made it clear I had recorded call and paperwork doesn't state it. This is email from this morning.
Dear Value guest.
Please accept my apology for the delay in responding to your e-mail. As part of the government (National Council for Peace and Order) efforts to clean up Pattaya and eradicate prostitution in the interests of public safety and to restore "happiness" we have been instructed by the Thai Hotel Association to enforce a stricter control with "visitors". Therefore the following rules will be effective 1st May 2017;.
• Visitor must be registered at the Front Desk. ID card or passport will be checked for the correct name, picture and age of the visitor.
• Hotel will not allow any person who is less than 18 years of age and those who does not carry an ID card or passport with them to visit the guest rooms.
• A "visitor fee" of 1,000 Thai baht nett per visitor per day / night.
• Guest will be able to settle the fee by cash / credit card or charge to guest's room and settle upon check out.
• Visitor will be escorted to the guest's room if he / she is arriving alone.
• Visitor will be required to leave the hotel premise before noon, and he / she is not allowed to use any of the hotel facilities.
If the reservation is made for two people and you check-in together and register together upon arrival the above (except point 2) will not apply.
Above is in line with the strict rules and regulations we have to follow, common practice in Pattaya and also helps us better ensuring guest safety and security which remains our paramount objective.
If we can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact us.
Best regards.

Best regards.I just don't get it. If the objective is to clean up the image and rid the city of prostitution, would it not be logical to completely stop visitors altogether? It does not take a degree from Harvard to determine if your companion for the night is a hooker or not.
By charging 1000 baht "joiner fees" they are only filling their fuckin pockets. Now that makes sense. This is about profilts, not about culture or image.

That is assuming you have one companion in your room per day. Given our preferences this sort of joiner fee can be crippling. The nightly rate I originally locked in was $93 (3154 baht) which is a very good rate for this hotel. Add in the 1000 baht joiner fee and the rate becomes $122/ night (4154 baht) which is the average rate at the former Marriott in late March / April. Bring in more than one girl a day and the hotel rate balloons, but I believe another clause in Avani's new policy is only one girl per 24 hours and a third clause is no swimming pool access for female "guests" that are unregistered at check in. So as I said earlier, its more than the money. Its having to register your girl every night at the front desk instead of going straight to your room or fooling around in the dark by the pool in the garden. It's not being able to invite your girls over for afternoon Tequila pool parties. And it's not being able to bring back 2 girls at a time for threesomes. All of this makes the Avani at the present time an unviable hotel for me.
I don't think it is a money grab, but if it is, it is not a very well thought out one. Net, I think Avani is going to lose money with this new policy. But apparently corporate Avani in their infinite wisdom has decided to focus almost exclusively on the family and the young international couples market. I give them the benefit of doubt that they have analyzed the market data and know what they are doing. The mistake they may have made is assuming a static response of their punter guests to the new restrictive policies and incorporating that incorrect assumption into their profit maximizing algorithms. The other possiblity is Avani corporate doesn't care if they lose their share of the punter market. They have decided it is not worth holding onto and they want to take the hotel in a new direction. Hell, I hear even the two resident pet Macaws have been removed from the pool garden area. What can I say? New owners, new management, new direction. Time will tell if this new direction was a wise business move or not.

New owners, new management, new direction. Time will tell if this new direction was a wise business move or not.Certainly appears to be a new direction, not just for Avani. A wise business decision. Not, me thinks! That said, it appears there is a new direction for Pattaya in general. Who would have ever thought of keeping bars shut till 6 pm. That one was real left-field.
I have a trip coming up in August but I am thinking of making a good back-up plan.
More importantly, I am curious to know if it is only Avani pulling this trick on its (relatively) affluent patrons or is this so called new Govt notification being followed by all hotels. If it is a Govt notification, then it should be prominently displayed at the reception. Anyone on ground see anything like this? Obviously it is in Thai, so does the hotel provide a copy of the translated version for patrons as reference?
Even if the Govt were to make such a notification, I am certain they would NOT be advising a 1000 baht joiner fee. That would be preposterous. So in conclusion it is in all probability the hotels trying to fatten their bottom lines.

I remember a few years back when the Reds and Yellows were going at each other, I made back up plans then to get out of Thailand fast in case the BKK airport was shut down. LOL.
But in this case, I think you will be ok and you will have a lot of fun in Pattaya this summer. And who knows what's going to happen in the future, thus after these recent unfortunate changes, I am more motivated to go to Pattaya now/soon, one more time, before any worse substantive shit changes occur that might seriously affect the 50-year-old party.
Having just made and then cancelled a reservation at one of Pattaya's best hotels, all within 24 hours of learning of their new girl un-friendly policy, you can bet that I will make absolutely certain that my next reservation is at a Pattaya girl friendly hotel by sending an email to the manager asking explicitly about his hotel's "guest" policy. Even with a fully cancellable no penalty reservation, I would still call the hotel and speak to the manager a few days before my arrival in Pattaya to make sure everything is good to go.
My belief is this policy change is case specific to the Avani, so I would be surprised, if for example, Baraquda or Hilton had instituted a similar policy change. But having been burned once, even if ever so slightly, I won't make the same mistake twice.
This is correct except for where you say 'then cross the street to the right'. This should be 'then cross the street to the left'.Duh, you are quite correct! I pictured it correctly in my mind! Thanks!
Maybe some of the girls think you're a cheap charlie but OTOH is 100 baht quite expensive for that short ride to Soi 13. It's a tourist price and some girls might think you're a fool for not taking the cheap baht bus.
I wouldn't make a big deal of it, taking the baht bus is very common.Actually, it was worse. I looked up my report and I see that I spent 150 baht. I travel very little by motorbike and have not learned what is a fair fare. And thanks for saying I am not a fool for normally taking the baht bus. In this particular case, as I said, the girl wanted to take the motorbike, so I agreed, but I guess I will continue to use the bus based on what you say is a fair fare. The more I think about it, 150 TB (roughly $5), was a bit of a ripoff, wasn't it!
Checking with a few hotels. Hilton is still guest friendly with no fees. I almost didn't even check Areca but thought I better. This is what I got back from them. I will report back when I receive email from others.
A maximum of 2 people are permitted to be registered to a room and must provide valid identification: passport, ID card or driver's license.
Any private visits from unregistered persons, in hotel guest room, is not permitted unless his / her real identification card is given to the front desk.
According to Thai prostitution act, all entertainment establishments, including the hotel, require proof by national ID that any lady or entertainer is at least age 18. The hotel is not responsible for loss, damage or theft of cash, jewellery or other valuables done by the person guest brings in together.
The hotel has the right to prohibit a joiner to enter the hotel if he / she shows the intention of disturbing any other hotel guest.
Extra person is charged THB 500 per person per night and is exclusive of bed & buffet breakfast.

However, it is not clear if the THB 500 is a charge for the extra (as in third) person. I have not indulged in a threesome at Areca, but I suspect the charge may be for the second girl.

Staying within walking distance from Walking Street is not really that important.

The 500 bt surcharge is for the 2nd girl (as in third person) in the loom. This is the same policy that was in place when I stayed at the Areca (Evergreen building) hotel back in spring 2015. In practice, I was never hassled about showing a girl's ID and I just walked some of my girls right past the front desk, through the open-air lobby to the elevators with no interference at all. On this same trip, I was reunited with the Princess, a girl I first met in What's Up in 2011. She had her own motorcycle and she drove us all over town. At night, she parked the bike in the Areca Evergreen garage and we came up the stairs right by the elevators by passing the front desk completely. On one night, we arrived back at the Areca after dinner with a girl friend of hers that I had barfined as a favor to the Princess. All three of us went up to my room by way of the garage entrance and that was that. I just mention this now in case it might be useful to anyone at a later date. So, Areca is very informal about girls. I recommend the Evergreen building to anyone planning on staying at this hotel. It is the newest building in the hotel complex. There are 3 buildings with 3 swimming pools and at least 2 restaurants. I stayed in the super deluxe room. That's how you will know the room is in the Evergreen building if you book through Agoda or some other internet outfit. The price of the room for 2 persons (555) breakfast included was $49/ night. I liked the Areca. It is definitely not as fancy as the Marriott (Avani), but its good and the room was clean and comfortable / the pools were refreshing.

Thanks for posting the Hilton's reply to your inquiry, ThatGuy. Since receiving my money back from Avani, I booked a few nights at the Hilton Sukhumvit for a very good price of $93/ night. As I was about to book the room on the Hilton website, I was offered to sign up for the Hilton Amex credit card to pay for the room. I was already a Hilton Honors member although I rarely if ever stay at Hiltons. The CC offer was too good to turn down and included 60,000 or 80,000 Hilton points and a $50 credit as soon as I spend $1000 in the first 3 months and pay for my 1st Hilton reservation with the new card. So, I agreed and I was immediately given temporary card status to complete my reservation. Anyway, with Hilton points coming my way and the $50 credit, I am thinking the Hilton Pattaya might be the way to go. The moral to the story is all's well that ends well. I am looking forward to going back to Pat. I have been away too long.

So from this statement can one infer that prostitution is not illegal and prohibited, but only subject to a few rules? Thailand never ceases to amaze me.I was wondering the same when I got my response from LK. They stated 3rd guest I invite is 500 baht. But what if I booked 2 night. 3rd invited guest would be free if on the second night?
Here is the email.
Dear sir,
The joiner is allowed in hotels sir. However there will be a charge applied for 500 THB to the 3rd person invited to the room sir. Smoking is allowed at the balcony sir. It is not allowed at the bar or pool.
Regards.August Suites states 500 baht for 3rd occupancy which would seem like it's what you was saying. Threesome is 500 baht extra which seems fair. Intimate hotel answer was the same. Anyone stayed at Intimate hotel? Looking for clarification on LK Empress or Metro. Probably stay 3 nights there and spoil myself last day or two at the Hilton. And head back to Bangkok few days early. Going to do as suggested and leave it open. I was really looking forward to Avani. It sucks! But glad it's giving me flexibility in my schedule.

I stayed there in April when I visited for Songkran, and each day I would have at least two women visit me (not together, sadly). I like the Areca poolside, very relaxed. The Long Island Ice Teas are great too, if you fancy a refreshing afternoon drink. Never woken up in time for breakfast, but I am told its pretty decent.
I just don't get it.
As a frequent visitor to BKK and Pattaya, I am leery of any "upscale" hotel as being "guest friendly. " There are plenty of 3-4 star hotels that are guest friendly that suit my taste. Just MHO.

For those who want 3 somes can't you book a room for 3 guests? How can they then add a joiner fee for the 3rd guest?
LK is pretty lax when it comes to girls coming and going. Just don't make it obvious and all come in at once making a lot of noise.

But if I am on a week's holiday I am likely to engage in a ménage à trois perhaps once or twice. Thus, booking a room for 3 persons for the entire stay may not make sense.
I think you have made a very good point about being discrete and not attracting a lot of attention through boisterous behaviour while arriving at the hotel.

If you're booking a larger than standard room most hotels don't charge extra for booking 3 people rather than 2.
Condos like vt6, the base, centric sea, etc likely aren't going to stop you from bringing more than 1 girl to your room. I've brought 4 girls to vt6 several times without any security guard asking.

As for your first point. Many hotels stated registered guest. I'm a newbie to the international forum so I guess that could mean registered after bar per say. Avani went so far as to say they must check in with you to use a joiner as a guest. Idk. It's all a bit confusing to me. Before booking I thought I had a excellent grasp thanks to you guys and other forums. I researched it and double checked with phone call then boom. Now they are all not being clear. Using little words as possible and just not being very clear. Except for Avani. They laid it out really clear. Here is the clip from email I shared.

If the reservation is made for two people and you check-in together and register together upon arrival the above (except point 2) will not apply.
Any thoughts on which might be better? I have read that VT6 is getting a bit worn / rundown.

Some rooms at VT6 are still very well kept. Others are in bad need for new paint and furniture. All depends on which company you are booking through since there are many who rent solely vt6. If you get a well kept 48 sqm studio unit at vt6 with the walking street side Seaview it's very nice.
As for the base I really have little positive to say about it other than it's new. Rooms are tiny at 30 sqm. 30 sqm isn't super small but the problem is that the kitchen is glassed off and it is a 1 bedroom meaning you have 4 rooms kitchen bedroom washroom and living room all averaging 7. 5 sqm each. Just not comfortable especially if with a girl. No space to run around. The shower is about the only nice thing there. Also the brilliantly designed echoing marble hallways means you hear every single person as they get off the elevator all the way to their room. Then the boom of constant door slamming. Also be warned that some units are literally 20 feet from LK metro so if noise bothers you base isn't good. Vt6 is quiet. The base does have amazing amenities like the rooftop infinity pool, sauna, gym, basketball court, always full of men only.
If you don't have a budget get the 2 bedroom 153 sqm room at vt6. Last time I booked it I think it was 45,000 for the night. Great 180 degree panoramic view of pattaya waterfront.

I used Dancewatchers and they have at least 3 48 sqm units which are in good shape. They will be about 2,000 to 2500 baht / night if you are renting for a min of 10 nights. As for the 2 BR units they start at about 4500 baht per night I believe (BB's 45,000 baht was either per month or a typo but its best that he clarifies that).

Hi,
Yesterday I sent an email to Amari ocean to check if they are GF. And this is the confusing response I got. Is this hotel girl friendly?
I Thank you for showing interest in Amari Pattaya. As for your enquiry, please note for additional guests that are not registered at time of arrival will be charged a supplement at THB1,000 net per person per time. However, if you book the room for 2 but stay only you. The local girl can stay without supplement charge.

So hopefully it's no surprises.I have stayed at LK Empress past few trips and I have had no issues with upto 3 girls visiting a day, not together but individually. Never had more than 1 girl at a time hence wouldn't know about their policy regarding 2 girls at a time.
If you follow Banana Bois suggestion and keep it hush hush then I don't think that would be a problem getting girls to your room. LK also 2 more ways to get to your room, one is from basement wherein you can take the elevator straight to your floor however this entrance is closed around 11 pm. Second one I haven't tried but seems there is also an elevator to the right once you step inside from the Family mart. You can take this to your floor and walk back to your room. You skip the reception when using both these routes.
My personal suggestion would be to use this only if you know the girl and have been with her few times and have your important things stored in the safe. ID check is skipped using these options to get to your room. If you are with a girl or girls for the first time it would make sense to get their ID deposited at the counter and if required pay the additional joiner fee for the second girl. Needless to say prevention is always better than cure.

Buddha, Amari's response is not cryptic. In fact it's how most girl friendly hotels in pattaya and Bangkok work. If your room booking is for 1 you will have to pay 1000 baht for a guest. If your hotel booking is for 2, then no extra charge. If your booking is for 2 and you are bringing 2 girls, then you will have to pay 1000 for 2nd girl at the same time. Read my post yesterday on possible alternatives to avoid extra cost for 2nd girl.

If you book on a hotel site through the companies that have offices in the building like vtsix and honey you will be OK with nice units. If unit is bad they will have other units.
The sketch ones are these companies that list through sites like booking. I booked one once for a night since it was dirt cheap. Arrived at vt6 and address was for main office. Then I got the condo office to call and they denied any booking I made. I assume they double booked. I was never charged. Luckily I live in pattaya and wasn't in dire need for a room. Moral is If the rate is tgtbt then it is.

But, from what I can tell it is only available second half of July, August or September. Since I have personally stayed at this unit, PM me and I will give you the unit number. It is owned by an Aussie who lives in VT6 and owns 3-4 other units there. But Dancewatchers is the one renting it out with optional maid service (I have always opted for daily premium maid service).

I'm likely going to stay at Baraquda in August but the idea of having to give the ID card every time I bring someone back is something I probably prefer not to do at a high frequency.
Say if I meet someone on beach road, there are "short time" hotels in the area as well right?

The hotel staff has done it so many times that within 30 seconds, your date will be back at your side. The staff won't even flinch if you bring a LB or man back to your room. They've seen it all!
The I. The. Card situation is actually a great thing for you too. It ensures the girl is over 18 and it gives you a fail safe in case she tries to steal from you on the way out.
Stay where they card, it might save your life!

Has anybody actually stayed overnight at the Queen Vic Inn or Sandman Hotel on Soi 6? Exactly how crazy would one need to be to stay in those hotels? Are they even worth trying out?

I wish I could follow you around Pattaya with a camera and film your adventures. You are going to have the greatest time of your life.
If you are worried about hotel staff, I can't wait to see how much you blush when girls are screaming for your attention on Soi 6 or at massage parlors. You'll be blushing for your entire stay.
Bro, strap in and hold on. You are going for a wild ride. Don't worry about carding or anything, just go with the flow, don't fall in love, and try to pay what the veterans pay or you'll end up broke.
Have fun!
Hi guys,
Sorry to butt in, but I was wondering if anyone had stayed at the sandy recently?, I have always stayed here when visiting Pattaya, and I noticed on google earth the restaurant has gone next door, and the bar. Hooters - has been reported as making the hotel a noisy place to stay?
So I was hoping someone could give me a and update, as I like the hotel. If anyone else can suggest a similar girl friendly one, that is quiet and convenient that would be cool.
Thanks.
I wouldn't worry about it at all. They have all been desentisitized and would not spend a moment thinking of you and your chicas (unless you are a well know celebrity) .
People like Uncle V and many others have trained them very well with their romps in and out several times a day, over the years, to a point where they won't even bat an eyelid. You are in good company. Just don't do anything I wouldn't do!Hah OK thank you and makes sense!
LOL, man that made me laugh out loud for real.
Have fun!LOL I've done similar stuff in other countries but admittedly I've been with a group friends so just not sure how I'm going to feel about when I'm there. I guess we'll see hah I'll make sure to follow the advice and I'll report back after my trip in August.
I'm using my points to book a hotel in Pattaya and I was considering Hilton for a nicer room / hotel but I was wondering about the ambience. I understand that it is GF but wondering is the hotel usually packed with tourists. Mostly families etc.
The only other hotel that is on my radar is Baraquda but I see mixed things about the hotel in terms of the room themselves. That things may not be so nice looking in the room themselves. Read even issues with smell from AC, bed not comfortable.
Stayed there 2 days last week. Very well located, nice and clean room but small. I was in the second building and 2 girls came in my room (not at the same time), and there was no problem at all with the reception. For guys that don't like the walk of shame, that place is perfect especially if you can stay in the second building as there is not reception desk in that building and no security guard to look at you when you come back with your girl. The place is still secured because you need the card to use the lift. It is also very well located. My only regret was that I didn't book for more than 2 nights, once I realised the place is great they were already full.
Hi guys,
Sorry to butt in, but I was wondering if anyone had stayed at the sandy recently?, I have always stayed here when visiting Pattaya, and I noticed on google earth the restaurant has gone next door, and the bar. Hooters - has been reported as making the hotel a noisy place to stay?
So I was hoping someone could give me a and update, as I like the hotel. If anyone else can suggest a similar girl friendly one, that is quiet and convenient that would be cool.
Thanks.Yes, the restaurant has gone and they are demolishing the last remains (in a very slow pace) and Hooters indeed makes a lot of noise.
I've never stayed at the Sandy Spring so I don't know if it's similar but I would suggest the Dynasty Inn in the same soi. You don't hear any noise from Hooters there, I guess because it's blocked by either the Whitehouse Condotel or (yes indeed) the Sandy Spring.
However ask for a room at the back side otherwise you'll be in the noise of the beer bar at the corner of Soi 13 and Second Road. You can hear the bar at the back side as well but only faintly.
There's construction work going on in Soi 12 so I wouldn't recommend any of the hotels on that side.
Thanks for your help much appreciated, it looks like it will be August next year now before I can get there so might have to pester the forum readers again before then. I will take a look at the Dynasty inn.
Thanks.
What happened to Roof Garden Inn? It used to get good reccomendations hre, but looks like it went out of business. Is it another name? Just as good?
Thanks.

Thanks."Hotel Closed Down".
"Hotel Closed Down".That's what I found. Did it just change names or get a new owner? I stayed there and at Mr Chan's Art House, next door. I can't find either one online.

Thanks. My second stay there was last November. I had an ocean-facing room with a balcony, and it got pretty noisy at night. If you will be out until 2 am or so, you may not ever notice it though. If you take a nap in the late evening it may wake you up. If you get an east-facing room you may not notice a problem.
I also like the Dynasty, though the dark wood paneling gets a bit depressing. The Sandy Spring rooms are more cheery. And the last time I was there, the AC in my room seemed to have an issue in that while it would cool, the room felt clammy. I was ok as I was so tired each night, but two girls complained and left early because of it. That may have just been that one room, as I don't remember that being an issue on my first stay.
But Soi 13 is a great location.

1. Great pool and pool bar.
2. Great all round service.
3 happy hour 2 for 1 in roof top bar everyday.
4. Wonderful all you can eat (different theme every day ) for about $15 pp with a huge spread and great indoor and outdoor view options with indoor ceiling greater than 20 ft. I have tried all their buffets with one of my girls who came and stayed with me from Isaan for 10 days. Great mall attached to the Hilton. And you are in a very central location. But rooms are on the smaller side.

I'm quite often having a coffee at the Starbucks right next to the path that leads to the entrance of the Hilton, and all I see are Russian couples, Chinese families / groups, wealthy looking Thai, families with children etcetera. Only occasionaly I see guys, with or without female company, who might be mongerers.
After all Central Festival is not really a mongering area, is it?

Hi guys,
I am planning to visit Pattaya in the first week of September and have booked my stay at LK Empress.
-In terms of quality, how is the hotel compared to the other four star hotels?
-Is it guest friendly?
-Also how is their breakfast?
-Considering our flight is departing at 8 pm and their checkout policy time is at 12 pm, do they let you keep the room longer?

They are guest friendly. They also have one of the best American breakfast. Great American bacon I'm told. Reviews back it up. When I booked it had a option to pay more for late checkout.
Greetings, I have stayed in BKK several time but have decided to spend a weekend in Pattaya. I have been reading past posts and found lots of good info but I am not sure which area is best for me. When I go to BKK I usually spend more time at the Hillary bars then at the gogos and stay at Dynasty Grande. I am looking at Baywalk Residence or Areca Lodge. I was leaning toward Baywatch because of its location but Areca looks like a nicer hotel. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I'm likely going to stay at Baraquda in August but the idea of having to give the ID card every time I bring someone back is something I probably prefer not to do at a high frequency.
Say if I meet someone on beach road, there are "short time" hotels in the area as well right?Pointless using ST room is a short walk to Baraquda, they take the ID, isn't an issue at all, if you want they will also call you when your guest leave see if all is OK. I escorted one guest out and there were loads of ID, which explained at breakfast when guys had 2/3 guests, the only issue here was the had two breakfast included and had to sign for two more.

I'm having a hard time choosing between places so I may just book a few nights at Baraquda and Hilton. See how I feel for the inevitable next trip.

Read even issues with smell from AC, bed not comfortable.General advice: hotels in Pattaya (and Thailand) are relatively inexpensive, especially during low season. Unless you have points to burn or are points rich / cash poor I would save them for use when visiting more expensive locales such as New York City, Sydney, London, Tokyo, ect.
Don't know the rules of the Hilton Honors program but you can always book a reward room to secure something, look for decent cost local alternatives, and cancel it later.
Then in Thailand I prefer unique mid-range locally owned one-off accommodations. Stayed at the JW Marriott in Bangkok once and it was nice for sure, but I don't need all that. And I certainly don't want to give the ladies the idea I am made of money LOL. I am there to fuck them, not to impress or romance them.

Under some way, given the Pattaya factors is similar to majestic grande in bkk, albeit MG has a solid business customer range you will not find at Areca.
But, Hey, pattaya is no business city vs, bkk.

Ensure you get a Super Deluxe room in the Evergreen wing and you will not regret it.
If you have a bit more budget and are keen for a sea side location, LK Empress is the one to go for.

Thank you everyone for you input. I booked a reservation at Areca using Agoda. I was able to book the Super Deluxe for 48 USD a night with free cancellation although you could get the same room for 43 but that rate is non-refunable. I am not sure which wing I am in as it didn't give a choice for choosing. I will try to post my thoughts on the hotel after my stay in September. Thanks again everyone.

I've read Areca requires guests be 21. True? Most hotels and even discos and GoGo bars have an age policy. If this is going to hold you back from booking a good hotel, that is your call.

They are very prompt and responsive.
I'm guessing Pattaya's get's more and more fully booked. Mid-August a Monday to Sunday (6 night) Baraq is 850 +150 fees. Wave 820 and Hilton 1400. Pretty steep.
I feel Pattaya is one city you DO need to book further in advance as prices do raise pretty fast the closer it get's to your visit. As it's obviously not the biggest city it can get pretty extreme for what you get. I. E. Wave is def overrated. I stayed there a few days and altho nothing bad can be said about the place (super lovely staff) the prices they dare to ask for ordinary rooms is hilarious (from our point of view then. Business wise probably very smart as there might be a market for it).

The hotel where I'm staying right now, a popular mid range hotel in a good location, is only half full and I was able to get a 15% discount.

I guess you mean USD. Please quote prices in Thai Baht, that makes much more sense in the Thailand thread.
I know you're not the only one so this is meant as a kind reminder to anyone quoting prices in USD.

I know you're not the only one so this is meant as a kind reminder to anyone quoting prices in USD.Apologies, sorry was actually quoting Euro's haha. Didn't think of doing it in THB as booking sites always quote in USD / Eur / GBP. Will do thb next time- makes sense.
Yeah Baraq has a 1000 baht a day resort fee (according the the booking sites).
I feel Pattaya is one city you DO need to book further in advance as prices do raise pretty fast the closer it get's to your visit. My first trip is in August. So I'm a noob but can add some of my findings to this subject.
After Avani changed guest policy and with the changes occurring I've left the last 4 days of my trip open. Since then, I've been worried about prices going up or no rooms should I decide to stay in Pattaya. But I've been doing lots of checking into tomorrow pricing of various hotels daily. I've found they have plenty of rooms and in most cases cheaper than if I booked August rooms in advance. I'd assume this may be a different story in December or in high season in general. I've had my eye on spoiling myself at the Hilton and Siam Siam last few days if I stay in Pattaya. Yesterday Hilton quoted me 7300 baht for end of August but I could get a room today for 5600 baht. That's actually closer than most of my quotes. I've been told they get even cheaper the day of. But is it worth the risk of missing out? Idk.

Hi guys,
I'm planning a one week trip to Pattaya and I'm thinking to book either LK Residence or LK Metropole Hotel. As far as I understand both hotels are girl friendly which is condition #1. Also I found the Thai climate too hot and need a (clean) bathtub and both hotels have that. Also the bathtub can be interesting place when you came back with a girl for the night. The location also seems very good. I have never been in Pattaya, but it seems that around there is a lot of party streets. LK Metro, Soi Honey. Please can someone confirm me if my observation and expectations about the location are correct.
Both hotels seems perfect choice based on my criteria but what about the noise? I can not sleep when it is noisy and I'll need that to restore the lost energy So if you have been at LK Residence or LK Metropole Hotel can you comment on:
- noise.
- is it clean.
- is it a good location for the purpose of the trip that every one of us visit Pattaya. I mean libraries, theaters, galleries, etc.
Cheers,

I did like the Baywalk's location but didn't care for the rooftop pool. Not many hotels, if any, mentioned here can beat Baywalk's location. Decent rooms when you get the larger ones. Areca's location is good. Easily get to Soi 6 and the Soapies with 2nd Road baht bus, to Walking Street with Soi Buakhao baht bus, and literally steps away from LK Metro. Beach Road FL's would be a pain though.

Cheers,If you read the reviews on tripadvisor.co.uk and filter on 'noise' you will soon find out that the LK Metropole is your best bet, as the LK Residence is right in front of a bunch of noisy beer bars.
You can use the same reviews to filter on 'clean' and uhm... libraries, theaters and galleries of course.

Been to Thailand / BKK several times, but never got to Pattaya! This time in September, I intend to change that and spend 8 days in Pattaya, as well as BKK.
Looking at hotels, and after a lot of reading reviews, very much interested in Hotel Mera Mare. Modern, good reviews and a reasonable location. However, with all the recent reports of hotels changing their "Girl Friendly Policies", I wondered if anyone had any recent experience of this hotel, especially their policies on being girl friendly!
Thanks!

LK Residence is right in front of a bunch of noisy beer bars. It's one single beer bar who hires the absolute worst singers Thailand has to offer. Agree the decibel level at that bar should be controlled by police. Doesn't bother me a lot since I am not usually home when the bar plays its screechy music. Even the loudest LK Metro gogo bar facing LK Metropole isn't half as loud.
Anyone have recommendations for a hotel that allows 3 guests in one room without having to pay for an extra joiner? Any recommendations for a hotel that doesn't check the id's?
