View Full Version : Pattaya Hotels
Have just returned to boring New Zealand after one month in Pattaya and can reccomend the Dream hotel (previously known as Nice Hotel) on Second Rd just around the corner from Soi Diamond. Great location if you need to be near Walking St but without the noise. Only 100 yards or so from all the go go's in Soi Diamond. Good value for 600 baht, Girl Friendly, management don't allow arabs to stay there and baht busses right outside the door. The hotel has recently been renovated and all the rooms are clean and tidy, half them were empty during my stay so I could take my pick. I can reccomend not to stay at Windy Inn at the other end of Walking St, worst beds ever and couldn't get out of there quick enough. Straight back to Dream for me.

Dear Zicorulz,
By the way, how do you book the rooms at Nice Hotel? Is it a walk in rate or thru' internet? Any contact no. or email address available.
TQ
Alias - don't so upset - _I_ consider 20 minutes very acceptable "walking distance" (I NEED the exercise, but, hell, if I'm too polluted or accompanied, it's "baht bus" distance for sure) - great exercise. It was more of a question about where to set the UPPER limit than to criticize. 30 minutes is about where I would set the "limit" (and after sundown, it's not nearly so important)
The "to" walking street time isn't so important (I usually do 8+ km when I'm in Pattaya, drink 4+ l of water and lose 1/2 kg/day average -- but the loss usually finds me again when I return home) :-)
BTW - I seem to stay where you stay - off 2nd Road or Buakhao (in what I refer to as the "cheap sleeps") Also - I'm sort of reluctant to cross ANY street in LOS 2 sheets to the wind, let alone 3 - I can't run that fast. Ever notice how there are lots of Mercedes in LOS - must be the "gunsight hood ornament" for aiming at pedestrians.
I can reccomend not to stay at Windy Inn at the other end of Walking St, worst beds ever and couldn't get out of there quick enough.
I liked the Windy Inn, though there are better options for their rates. I think it used to be under French management. The mattresses were a bit hard but I liked them that way.
Anyway, I haven’t stayed there any more for years.
Gladiator,
Windy Inn is still under French management and most people staying there were French. For 700 baht I didn't think it was worth it, and the walls and floors seemed thin to me, a bit too much noise for my liking.
Member 2065,
Regarding Dream Hotel, I just bowled up, there was no discount for long stays and I don't know whether they are on the net, there's no internet address on the hotel card I have. If you go in low season I reckon you can just bowl up, there's plenty of rooms there. The beauty of this hotel is the great location to Walking St. I sweat like a pig in the Pattaya heat and would often duck back from Walking St to change my shirt.
Happy Hunting,
Zico

Going next week to Pattaya and looking at the Mercure Hotel (usually stay at the Lek) and can't find any info on the forums whether they are girl friendly (Lek definetely is) or do the charge a fee?
Anyone stayed there that could answer?
Mahalo!
Could someone tell me which would be better to stay at the LEK Hotel or the Sunshine serviced apartments? Which is the best for the money and location.
Thanks,
Stubby694
I contacted the Hard Rock Hotel in Pattaya last Summer and inquired about bringing guests into their hotel. The reply I received stated that an additional guest charge of B700 or B900 per guest per night would be charged to the registered patron. Caveat Emptor!

I sampled a list of hotels with joiner fee as far as I know them.
A1 Hotel up to 500 Baht
Amari Orchard Hotel up to 500 Baht
Asia Pattaya Hotel up to 600 Baht
Bayokee Hotel 300 Baht
Beverly Plaza up to 300 Baht
Botany Beach Hotel 350 Baht
Camelot Hotel 300 Baht
Ceasar Palace 200 Baht
Central Pattaya Hotel 300 Baht
Central Wongamat 500 Baht
Cholchan Resort 700 Baht
Cosy Beach Hotel 200 Baht
Dusit Resort 1000 Baht
Garden Seaview Hotel 800 Baht
Hard Rock Hotel 900 Baht
Jomtien Palm Beach Hotel 500 Baht
Pattaya Center Hotel up to 300 Baht
Pattaya Garden 400 Baht
Royal Cliff Beach Hotel 600 Baht
Royal Palace Hotel 300-500 Baht
Sawasdee Sea View 200 Baht
Siam Bayshore 800 Baht
Siam Bayview 800 Baht
Sunbeam Hotel 300 Baht
The Montien Hotel 1000 Baht
The Regent Marina Hotel 500 Baht
Tropicana 500 Baht
White House Resort 700 Baht
Woodlands Resort up to 500 Baht
Some of these hotels don't always charge the joiner fee like the Central Pattaya, Sunbeam and Pattaya Garden for example. Don't know why, maybe it depends on the impression you give them, the clerk, sympathy, occupancy or whatever.
If you check in with your girl then no joiner fee has to be paid !Fellow Travelers,
While searching the forum pages (all 19 pgs!) for girl friendly Pattaya Hotels (ones that do not charge joiner fees), I came across Traveler's excellent list of Hotels that do charge joiner fees (Thank you T!) and decided that while I was at it I'd do a list of places that were mentioned by fellow posters in this section that are reportedly as being "Girl Friendly" / GF / Guest Friendly"
Appears to be an oft asked question: "Is this ____ Hotel girl Friendly?"
The list is by no means complete, just a beginning really - feel free to add to it and update it.
And as Traveler points out some of the "non" Friendly Hotels don't always charge fees (making them Bi-Friendly?), and yet another poster points out that even after checking in with his girl (and thus no joiner fees) that the staff were still "unfriendly" to his guest.

Stubby,
I can't comment on the LEK Hotel since I never stayed there but if you want to get an impression about the Sunshine Vista Serviced Appartment read back in this section. I posted about it incl. pics around January 2004.
To all of you who have contributed. Almost too much info. I'm going through posst (ReadingTFF) and going to web sites. May try a couple places this trip. I've done, and like, the Areca. But it's time to try something new.
I'll post my two bits upon my return.

I was not charged any joiner fee at the Sunbeam for 3 encounters.
I will be going to Pattaya on my first trip in November. I've look at this board for reviews and it has been real helpful but most of you seem to stay in a standard room, since this is my first trip I want it to be speical so I want to stay in a more deluxe room. Now it doesn't have to be real close to the action but that would be nice. I almost picked an Excutive room at the Areca Lodge but then I found out it's a non smoking Hotel, yes it is a bad habit.
So what I'm looking for is a nice room that is quite I'm a lite sleeper, must have frig so I can bring my own refreshments, large bed king would be nice but a queen would due, shower, and seperate tub would be nice. A clean Hotel without bugs, and of course GF friendly. In room safe or a lock box down at the desk. For around 2000 baht.
Also I've read different things on money, should I bring USD cash or travler checks. If travel checks are there certain kinds that are accepted more then others, American Express or?
Thanks,
Dapar
I will soon be visiting Pattaya on my "Newbie" trip and have heard many good new apartments are to be had in this area, particulary on a monthly basis.
I would appreciate any information regarding this area,in particular recommendations and prices etc.
I thought it would be a little longer before I would get to say RTFF, but jeez...
Have you done even the most basic of homework ?
Don't be so f'n lazy.
One thing. Forget travelers checks. Just get a good ATM card.
What ever you do do not bring 1996 USD they will not take them anywhere.
Travelers checks got a little better rate, but the ATM card is probably the best way to go.

I have the same problem on 1995 and 1996 US $ 100 bill. I heard have is a counterfeit problem on that 2 yr. I only have problem in China, Penang and Jakarta before.
In Thailand, The Phillippines and Hong Kong I never have problem. I think they are
just being too careful. As far as I know this is old news.

Dapar,
Go to www.hotelsthailand.com, check out the rates at the Pinewood Residences, they have nice rooms with a kitchen, full sized refrigerator, safety box at the front desk, includes free breakfast (if booked on hotelsthailand.com). If you travel back down Pattaya 2nd, you’ll find a grocery store right on the corner (3-4 blocks, names is Tops). That’s where I buy my soda, soap and snacks. The area is very near Soi 6, Soi 2, Big-C, and three of the better soapy parlors (all of this within walking distance). The area is fairly quiet, the hotel sits back off of Pattaya 2nd. I'd not take travelers checks, take cash (small amounts) and your ATM card and a credit card. I'm going to try the AMEX travelers cheque card (a credit card like device), it can be used where AMEX is taken. I used Bangkok Bank and Thai Military Bank ATMs without issue. One warning, call your card company(s) and tell them you are going to be in Thailand, AMEX cut me off on my second transaction once a few years back, now I call in advance, no problem since.
Later.

My query is about Sawadee Seaview. Traveller lists it as Girl-unfriendly. You do not list it as GF. However, there is a report in the Pattaya Report Section a couple of days back, saying it is totally GF, based on his multiple visits. Am confused. Should I book there? Prices and location seems very good.

Enjoy,
Taking into account the sheer endless number of totally girlfriendly hotels, why would you even consider going to one that might not be girlfriendly?
To clarify the confusion, I had written to Sawasdee for a clarification. The apt reply is quoted:
"Dear Sir, At hotel not charge you bring lady back to the room. Regards."
I suppose this clarifies doubts regarding the hotel's GF status. Thought I will post this for everyone's benefit.

Enjoy58,
hotels sometimes change their policy (low/high season, change in management) and even girl-unfriendly hotels do not always charge a joiner fee. Best is always to ask the hotel directly before you book a room.
Almost time to booking a room for my next holiday in Pattaya.
25 january-07 february 2006
Been in Sunshine once and i think it's maybe a good thing to change location even I was happy with my room and all the bar around.
After some research the House Inn soi 13 seems to be a good deal.
http://www.innhousegroup.com/home.htm
Anyone been there once?
I look for a room in the 800-1k range.
Any advice for a room Soi Bukhow ? it's look like the future nightlife in Pattaya will move there.
Thank's
Marteau,
The best deals Bt/Q-wise are probably in Soi 7&8, the Flippers and Sunshine, that lot.
Soi Bukhow is a klong turned sewer turned road. It has no sidewalks. It twists and turns and has a high accident rate and a few too many people get robbed and/or gunned down in SB. It also has cheaper rooms. It doesn't take a big brain to figure out why.
OTOH, just off SB you find long-term-stay places and 'friendly' hotels and guesthouses and cheap internet (B30/hour).
25 january-07 february 2006 isn't the time to mess around in Pattaya with no room: VERY crowded!
Why not book a room at the Sunshine again and look for another room while you're there so you know where to go on your next next trip? I always follow that mo in new towns and it usually gets me a nice list.
You're probably right!
Will booking the Sunshine again and looking around for a future room!
Thx's
Myself and a buddy will soon travel to Pataya for mongering. After scanning through this forum, I have yet to see a reference to a unit with two seperate bedrooms. Does such a thing exist in Pataya (and for less than 1800 baht?)
Our plan is to switch off girls yet fuck privately.
Thanks!

I clicked online booking on their site and it brought up an email window, so I requested a room. I never heard back.
On arrival, they said, no room, full. I said, did you get my email. The man said, maybe the qirl did not read them. I said, maybe she did and I have a room reserved. He said, sorry full! So much for online booking!
I drove up to Eastiny and got the usual room. This is a nice hotel for 800 bhat. Only problem is getting back early to the hotel, it sounded like a war zone from the bars on Soi 7. The heavy bass from the rap songs sounded like artillary going off and the voices shouting above the noise sounded like panic in the streets. Otherwise, enjoyed the pool and the room, especially the cable choices.

I stayed at Keerati two months ago and considered it quite nice for 800B a day. Internet service is a criterion that is a must. I just return to this hotel 2 days ago. Price is up, 1000B for a samll room now! Quite noisy all day long due to construction and new bars across the street. Staffs are still friendly but the cleaning job is not as good as begore. Will change hotel as soon as I can find one with internet service and under 1000B.
You just brought up a good point. Who knows a good Eastiny class hotel (800-1000 Bhat) or any price with WIFI or a LAN connection to the internet. Sure would be nice to be able to get emails in Pattaya, seeing that I am oficially working in LOS. I haven't see a lot on this subject. I list should be compiled.
I will start. The Eastiny does not have in-house internet.
Hey guys a friend recommended the Dynasty Inn but i have not seen it mentioned here in quite some time. Do any of you guys in Pattaya have any comments about this hotel.
Oh yeah I will be in Pattaya the 13th of October and would love to hook up with some of the veterans to show me the ropes.

Info about this hotel has been posted before but since I've been staying here for the past few days, I must say its not a bad deal. The last two nights they did not even checked the girls ID that came back with me and one night, actually early morning there was no one even at the desk when I came in. Nice lnternet shop next door, but can't access certain sites, something with the IP addresses, the breakfast is nothing to get out of bed for but the All day cafe is right next door however they aren't that much better themselves. Nice small pool and the laundry service was good, even though they don't have same day service.
But for the 750B daily rate staying here is not a bad deal, I actually extended my stay here for two more days.

After a fow rounds of investigation at 3rd road, I found some serviced apartments can offer internet service on a monthly base (1500B per month). The problem is the location is far from action and no taxi service pass here (only occationally). You will need a motorbike to get around. Price for rent is usually 8000B per month, 6-800b by day. I was almost ready to book a room there, then came the shower (non-stop for two hrs). Even the motorbike can't get anywhere at this point. I moved to Apex afterward.

Hi all,
Was just wondering if anyone knows of a hotel around Bt 1,000 or less that has a sofa in the room? A swimming pool would be nice as well but optional.
I just love bending the girls over the sofa and doing what comes naturally - anyone else like that?!
I'll be in Thailand just for a quick trip next month and hope to hit Pattaya for a few days - suggestions would be much appreciated!
I've often wondered about staying right down the 'top' end of Walking St - it seems fairly quiet down that way. Anyone know of good places right at the bottom, or is that more of a 'family' area?
Cheers,
London Lad.
London Lad,
Try high five, Soi 8. Has sofas and would meet your price requirement.

I saw that Pattaya have 2 Flipper accomm.
Flipper Hotel and Flipper Lodge
Both seem to be about similar in price (seem I will be there during the high season so notice everything 2x the price starting Nov1--bummer)
Any recommendations as to which one is nicer hotel (fancier and cleaner)and if both are gal friendly?
Believe I read that Flipper Lodge is GF friendly.

Yesterday had a look at the new (about 1yr old) Sabai Wing in Soi 1.
Nice clean rooms with carpet, king/queen size bed, TV, minibar and in-room safe, shower (Deluxe with bathtub).
Superior 1250
Deluxe 1550
Deluxe Beachview 2150
The Beachview is at bit bigger than the normal Deluxe but not worth the extra bath. Nice pool, no gym.
Above prices are walk-in prices, not tried to negotiate them.
Tiger - depending on your expectations, you can go to one of the "lesser" hotels on 2nd road and save a bit over the "hi priced" places. Some of them dont even surcharge for hi-season (would be a guesthouse, though, and maybe a bit "spartan" for your tastes) check the forum - there have been reports about lower cost places.
Try Sabia Inn Soi 2. They offere the same stuff (except the tub) for 700 Bt. Well worth ther money. Price for a standard goes to 900 Bt on Nov. !

Today went to PIC hospital for a checkup and decided to have a look at the hotels at Soi 4.
Mike Beach Resort
Standard 800
Deluxe 1200
Superior 1600
Rooms look a bit worn down, ok size and seem to be clean, TV, air, minibar, big fridge, standard bathroom. The Standard might be considered but can't stand the comparison with the Sabai Inn. No in-room safe though, but ok pool.
Bella Villa Prima
Standard 1150
Deluxe 1500
Junior Suite 2000
Premier Suite 2500
Rooms are nice with the usual amenities and in-room safe. The only difference between a Standard and a Deluxe is a sofa/couch. Rooms are clean with balcony, kitchenette incl microwave and in-room safe, bathroom with bathtub.
The Premier Suite has a living room and two sleeping rooms but the second sleeping room is so tiny that it can only hold the single bed and a TV set. No space left to even stand or anything else, so forget about that. But living room, second sleeping room and bathroom are more spacious than the Deluxe. Didn't see the Junior Suite but I guess it's the better deal. Whatever, it can't stand a comparison with the Areca Lodge.
Again, all prices are walk-in rates and I didn't even try to negotiate.
Has anyone got any info on the flipper house hotel on soi 7 I haven't seen much info about this hotel on the thread

Hi! I'm coming back to Pattaya for the first time since 1998. I usually stayed at a hotel right in the middle of the Soi Diamond go go bars, but I can't remember the name of it. The lobby door was right next to a massage place and it had a small pool on the roof. Anyone know the name? Is it still a decent place to stay? What is the price? I think it was 1,000 baht a night in 1998.
Before that I stayed at a place farther north, around Soi 9 or 10 that had a nice room for 600 baht looking out onto the ocean. But I felt it was too far away from the action. As far as I knew back then, the most action was on walking street, with just some beer bars spread out farther north and south. But reading the forum now, it sounds like there is a lot more going on in the lower numbered sois? So do I not even need to worry about staying near walking street anymore?
One of my best experiences was bringing a girl from a beer bar, and my worst was bringing a girl from a go-go bar, so maybe I should base my self closer to the best berr bar compoounds.
Any recommendations for sub 1,000 baht hotels that have a view of the water and are very girl friendly? I have made the mistake of staying in places where I felt uncomfortable bringing in a girl. And what I want is the opposite!
If you are interested in bear bars staying in around soi 7,8,9 is fine with plenty of action near by. Pattayaland ll has some gogo's that are closed to walking streat.
Keep in mind the baht bus is really convient, so you should have a problem getting to Walking street if needed.

Soi Diamond is named after the hotel, so the name of the hotel is Diamond Beach Hotel.

Thanks for refreshing my memory! Yes, that is the hotel I was looking for, Diamond Beach Hotel. I remember it was a decent place to stay, really close to the action, and had a pool on the roof. It looks like it has now updated the roof pool and added a jacuzzi and garden on the roof as well. Seem like a nice place to stay for 750 baht for a standard room and 1000 baht for a deluxe (ocean view) room. But I have not seen it mentioned anywhere in this forum, except as being girl friendly. Anyone stay there recently?

Some prior reports have recommended the new wing in the Sunshine Hotel and Residences on Soi 8. My addition to that recommendation is that you should request a room ending with 6 or 7. The reason is that these two rooms (on each of the 12 floors) are the furthest away from the street noise but have balconies with great views of the street action. If you picture the wings connecting like the letter "U", these two rooms are the little connector part.
I am there now. My room smells a little mildewy but is clean and quiet and has a firm, comfortable bed. No joiner fee, of course.

I just finished my stay in Pattaya. I stayed at two hotels in S. Pattaya, Royal Twins Palace and The Vault.
The Royal Twins is a huge hotel, the poolside rooms have a good view of Pattaya Bay. I stayed in a standard room for 1300 baht, the room was big, but they had two twin beds put together to make a king bed. Never had the free breakfast because I don't wake up before 10:00am. They have internet computers in the lobby that you have to pay for. One you bring a guest to your room, they have to fill out a little form, kind of inconvenient. They only have 1 computer for check-out so don't check-out at a peak hour.
The vault http://www.thevaultpattaya.com/ is right by the Camelot hotel and Marine Disco. Nice rooms with plenty of amenities, I stayed in a standard for 1000 baht. I liked this hotel for the privacy, location and nice room. There wasn't too much noise from the traffic outside. My only qualms were the walk upstairs and that the in-room safe is opened by a key. It's kind of more like a serviced apartment, because you carry your bags to your room, and there is no security other that the in-house owner. He has a menu from a delivery service that picks up food from your favorite restauraunt and delivers it to you for 40 baht. Also, very friendly atmosphere amongst the guests and owner.
It seemed like all the guests had the same taste in clubs because all our barfines new eachother. Never seen that at another hotel.

The Eastiny does not have in-house internet.Gaolei,
I had the same question. I also checked out stickman's guide to free wifi in Thailand http://www.stickmanbangkok.com/wifi.htm (this is okay to post here, right?)
However, at the end of the day, you can find an Internet Cafe on almost every street in Pattaya. Most will let you hook up your laptop for about 30 baht/hour or 1 baht/minute at the high end.
If you don't need total privacy, it's easy to stay connected in Pattaya.

Hey TB and Gaolei,
Get a KSC Onecard at Pantip or some 7/11's for about 300 bht and use dialup from your hotel or use the same password from Inet cafes. You don't need a LAN conection, KSC supports VPN so you can connect to a secure work network. You get a local Pattaya number.
I used KSC dialup all month in august to work from Pattaya from my hotel room (Bahn Boonah, soi 4) and it worked great. It worked in Starbucks too, but the minutes you get on wi fi aren't worth it if you can work from dial up from your room.
The conections in Pattaya were good and its really easy.
One huge factor in using your laptop from a hotel is to establish how your hotel phone is billed; be sure to ask whether local calls are billed by a set 5 baht per call (or whatever) or you get billed by the minute.
Cheers,
Sean
Here's the KSC link: http://www.ksc.net
I stayed there on my 1st visit, it's a very nice place, very well run and quiet.
I don't recall the exact price but it was very cost effective. I had a 2bdrm apartment, just got charged for the one I used.
Try it, hope you like it as much as I did

The Royal Twins Palace is guest friendly, it's just inconvenient that your guests has to feel out a small form. It's kind of a receipt for her ID card and I think they keep a copy in case you have any problems after she leaves.
The Vault is very guest friendly as they have no security, your girl could probably come and go during the night without being seen. The owner, Michael, named it the Vault. I didn't ask him why he chose that name.
Thanks for the report. I considered the Royal Twins, but wasn't sure if it was guest friendly. So, can you tell, were Royal Twins and the vault guest friendly?
And who named the Vault? Not a friendly name.
scandalic (soi 9 off 2nd road) has a wireless system (and assuming it is working - they have been having some "problems" with the phone lines) is included in the room price. adsl with 10mb connection speed - but expect about 1mb because of line traffic. you need to get the access code from the manager
Tried to book a room at The Vault today for the first week in November.
Unfortunately they are that busy they need two months notice. Pity, from the web site, they looked like exactly what I was looking for.

Any one know anything about the Grand Sole Hotel?
My query is about Sawadee Seaview. Traveller lists it as Girl-unfriendly. You do not list it as GF. However, there is a report in the Pattaya Report Section a couple of days back, saying it is totally GF, based on his multiple visits. Am confused. Should I book there? Prices and location seems very good.
Thanks
I haven't stayed at Grand Sole for 10 years but I still would not recommend it. Its far from Pattaya's walking street and bar/go go scene and rooms were quite worn. The hotel exterior is fairly impressive though. I doubt they've done much remodeling. Grand Sole pays taxis a heavy commission so you may get a hard sell for it if a taxi driver knows you need a hotel.
One nice thing about my Grand Sole experience years ago was that the hotel had an in house fishbowl and massage. I'm very curious if the massage is still open there. I haven't heard about it in years.
Forgive me but I was referring to Grand Sole in BKK. I didn't know there was one in Pattaya.

I did an extensive search but only saw several post on Apex Hotel.
Notice good price in good location, but still unsure as this place is gal friendly or not? Saw post here that bros never stopped for "joiner fee" even though sign at the entrance, but on other forums, some post suggest some were stopped from time to time?
Any further words on this place as I plan to be there in Mid Nov and will consider Apex if truly no problems with any joiner fee surcharges (despite the sign at the door).
Thanks for any info.

Last stay there 4 years ago! I like the rooms in the back beyond the pool! The room was given the last time I stayed was upstair beyond the pool and the room had tile floor which I like! Smelly carpets is not my thing! The rooms were cleaned for the money. But I like to swim and did not care for the pool being next to the eating area. All you can eat breakfast and dinner for the price of the food and hotel not bad at all. Good location!
Depending - if you stay in a lower price place off second road, go up Soi Honey Inn (soi 11) a ways toward soi buakhaow and there is a swimming pool on the right side.
They will charge you if you don't buy someting there, but the beer is reasonable, the water clean and the food decent (also an availability of street vendors right outside) Good sun exposure, larger pool.
Consider this as an alternative if you don't stay where there IS a pool.
For those going before 10/31, Sawasdee Court (soi 10) and Mansion (soi 11) have 3 nights for 1000B (no lift, though) and access to the Sawasdee Siam pool (corner of soi 11 and buakhaow) - you would need to walk to Siam, though
Personally, I avoid the "all you can eats" because I tend to
Has anyone had any experience with SA apartments (I guess its located above three ladies bar).
I've just booked for Xmas there for average 1150B a night. Within seconds 2 emails arrived replying to my enquiries over 48 hrs previous, offering rooms at the Winner INN (price tbc) and Shagwell Mansions (800B a nt). Peace resort looks pretty good, I'm tempted to just leave it at that, but the miser in me says go for the cheaper option.
Anyone have any experience of any of these hotels to help me decide?
The hotel is situated between Pattaya and Jomtien.
This is the 2nd time I have stayed here and I can only say that it was great.
Lets put it this way 700.- baht per day for a hotel that is better than some of the so called 4 star crap I have seen in BKK.
An excellent addition is the internet cable connection in all the rooms which made working a breeze.
Many would say that its a little far from the action but its really only a 5 minute baht bus ride away from walking street and a little longer to Soi 8 where I was hanging out. Baht bus is 10 baht to Big C and anything before that.
There is an inhouse safe and also one at the reception desk, a mini-bar/fridge,
linen is changed daily on the bigger than double bed and a laundry service with prices that are a joke. A TV hangs from the roof and there is enough clothing space for 4 people
If you want a quick bite in the morning there is toast and coffee for 60.- baht.
If you bring a lady friend to the hotel her ID will be checked and kept at the reception desk until she leaves. This really makes girls think twice about getting overly devious.
The hotel works with reliable drivers that can pick you up at the airport or take you anywhere that your heart might desire. Booked through the hotel airport to Pattaya is 1450.- baht including tolls -perhaps a tad expensive but very convenient after a long flight and the hoards of waiting Taxi drivers trying to get your business.
The hotel owner, a nice Scottish laddie will be more then happy to update you on the latest scams.
Cheers.

Cheers. The Scottish guy's name is Arnold and Mani (front desk girl) is awesome too. Really friendly and very clean. You're bang on with your description. We also took the hotel's driver to and from BK and it was no problem. We got a Mercedes leaving and a Corolla on the way in. Would definitely go that way instead of dealing with taxis and buses.
By the way, did you see the lady roasting chicken across the street? It smelled great and looked ok, but all the baht buses driving by spewing diesel into the air sort of turned me off that idea. Also, right next door at "Mr. Chan's" art gallery they also serve food and the owner speaks great english. We ate there almost every day.
Definitely can't wait to go back.

I stayed at both Roof Garden and Mr Chan's. Mr Chan's was cheaper than Roof Garden but the mattress was terrible. I liked both places. Roof Garden is an excellent place and is better overall than Mr Chan's as a place to stay. If money is tight Mr Chans is cheaper and still a good place with the exception of the mattress. Roof Garden also has a better shower and bathroom.
Communication was more of a problem at Mr Chan's. The woman there during the day spoke good English but not excellent. At Roof Garden English was not a problem at all. I wanted hot pepper sauce for my rice at Mr Chan's and could not get my point across and ended up with black pepper on it.
Dont misunderstand this though Mr Chan's is a good inexpensive place and I will happily go back there.
Regards Horatio
The next time I will stay at Mr.Chan's if my budget calls for cutting 200.- baht from room expenses.
I ate chicken and l(r)ice (120baht = $3.-) from across the road-can't beat that with a stick, until that dude died from bird flu. Then I ate at a very non-descript farang restaurant about a 150 metres from the hotel on the right hand side walking down the hill - the only place that I could ever find a green garden salad. Whats with the Thai's and vegetables ? The food was pretty darn good seeing that Thai's do Thai food very well but not as well with the farang food.
Don't worry about getting ill from eating on the street but of course use
common sense. The only places that I have become very sick, besides being charged 10 times the street price, are from the ex-pat places, go figure. One of these paces is called Shanaigan's near the Royal Beach Plaza, which just by the way sometimes has some very nice spinners walking its floors.
Cheers.
A polite request to the verterans out there.
What decent (but not overpriced. Ok, downright economical) hotel is there in Patong Beach that has either DSL/Broadband connection in some of it's rooms, or access to decent Wifi connections.
Its amazing why many of them don't list it on any of their websites.
Please advise. I am headed there mid-Nov. (darn soon!)
Thanks in advance.

yes- advice would be to always eat street food. it is fresh and tasty. locals don't patronise stalls if gastric upset... unlike falang who happily pay huge amounts for questionable, invisibly prepared food. this is true all over the world -gastric problems from restaurants and "fancy" hotels with freezers -food out -on buffet- back to freezer -out on buffet - looks wonderful, but! avoid salads - only eat what you can peel yourself - or if worried take vit pills.
price is certainly no guarantee of quality or hygiene! for the best - ask your lady companion - she really knows the bast food stalls!. and she'll get the best for you at the correct price!

Hi all,
Another damn guy planning his first trip. Looking for a hotel with a good ocean view, balcony and fairly near the action. I attempted to book a room at the Flipper Lodge for Jan 13-18 but they are sold out. Did RTFF and found mention of the Sunbeam (GF- some say yes, some say no), Diamond Beach and Sabar (seems to have a big premium for ocean view) hotels as possible ocean view choices. Any other suggestions?? I really wanted to be closer to the Flipper location (I think).
Was I just unlucky at the Flipper or have I waited too long to book?
Thanks, RMW
Anyone know of a good corporate rate at the pattaya marriott,,does anyone have a corporate rate that I could use ,willl be happy to buy dinner or a bar fine at he gogos for a good rate or any suggestions ,,I have to book thru marriott rather than a travel agent
Hi,
I'm planning a trip on 6th - 13th December, and just checked the calendar for public holidays.
The 10th is Thai's Constitution day, and I would like to avoid closed bars etc.
So, the places are still open this day?
Normang I don't know of any BKK hotels that have this service but there are internet sites that might help. All the Starbucks are WI-FI compliant.
http://www.wi-fihotspotlist.com/ and http://www.wififreespot.com/
Now if you want a decent hotel in Pattaya with cable DSL,the Roof Garden Inn is your best bet. I was able to upload 500 mega files in 15 secs a piece.
Not bad I would say at 250.- baht a day, which I was not charged and I can only figure it was because I was there almost a month.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
You all know the advantages of the Diamond Beach Hotel:
Girl friendly and good location.
The disadvantages are:
Bugs/cockroaches in the bathroom and from there going to the room.
Everything is old and a little dirty.
This hotel really needs a complete renovation.
It is not that bad that I have to go looking for an other hotel but I will certainly not return there.
Frimu,
"Bugs/cockroaches in the bathroom and from there going to the room."
Proceed as follows:
Turn off light in bathroom
Turn on light in other rooms starting as far away from the bathroom as possible
CRs will run for dark spots
Use turning on of lights to get them in the bathroom (still dark!)
Turn on the light in the bathroom
CRs will disappear down the drain, under things...
Close bathroomdoor leaving bathroomlight on
Other lights can now safely be turned off
CRs will not reappear
I know it’s a small detail but I’m confident that some of you little rascals will be able to help nonetheless.
I have at the Flipper House in Soi 7, spent 750 bath per night, very nice hotel, relatively spacious and clean room and it’s got a swimming pool on the roof, 8th floor, not exactly huge but good enough for a dip.
The problem is that the building beside the hotel doesn’t bloody let the sun through after 2.30pm, and you know how hard it is to wake up early in Pattaya, a real shame.
Does any of you know a hotel with a decent-sized pool, possibly in the same price range, but with a better located pool?
Thanks anyhow and Merry Xmas to you all.
Sorry I'm quoting myself but I realised I posted this in the wrong thread, a few guys replied me already nonetheless, thanks for the well appreciated info.
I'm adding now a few pictures of Flipper House, to the benefit of those who might be considering going there.

Happy Holidays,
I haven't posted for a month and a half or so because I've been in Thailand with my TGF who never seems to let me out of her sight. I got laid constatly, but couldn't do any mongering at all. What the hell, it was a different sort of experience, not entirely bad ;-).
I was working from BKK so managed to go to Pattaya for three day weekends. Earlier in the year I started staying at BaBooNa (soi 4 Beach Road) and haven't seen anything on it in the forum. Its a nice place, good location right across the street from the beach, with a very good restaurant. Totally GF, I had to ask.
The beds are new and really comfortable, very nice bathroom etc. Its considered a "serviced apartment," but operates like a regular hotel. Cosidering its location and quality I think its a great value; nice place, good vibes.
1200 bht per night double with breakfast
Its 1400 bht in high season which started dec.1, but they gave it to me for 1200 anyway.
The only thing that bugs me at all about the place is that they charge 1bht per minute for local calls which is a bad deal if you're using a dial up internet connection from your room.
Cheers,
Sean

ok just to follow up. just returned recently from pattaya. stayed at the siam sawasdee hotel instead for 3 nites. the outside purple building looked alright, but,
dont let the pool or nice lobby and restaurant out front fool u. the rooms on the other hand are very worn and run down, cracks on walls, peeling paint , very dim lighting in room, etc.(guess to cover up flaws in the rooms) etc.
rooms there are in need of major renovation.
only advantages are gal friendly and decent room prices but still think there are better options out there at siam sawasdee prices.

always good to know new hotels in case your preferred one is fully booked, so I have a few questions regarding the below mentioned BaBooNa :
Did the traffic noise bother / disturb you ?
Did they have an in-room safe ?
Did they have a parking lot for motorbikes / cars ?
What about a swimming pool / sun deck ?

Traveler,
Your questions are good ones. The strength of this hotel in my opinion is it location, nice furnishings, good food, and a sort of newness. The price is good and if you can get one of the 4rd to 6th floor rooms facing the water seems like a great bargain.
Now to your points:
1.) I've stayed in four different rooms facing Beach Road and the traffic noise has never been really noticeable, however on some nights the noise from the two clubs on the corner below has been loud and continued until 4 or 5am. Try to stay on one of the upper floors.
2.) No in room safe, key boxes at reception.
3.) Roped off area for motorbikes in front with a pretty much 24 hour security guard. They've kept a good eye on my motorbike. I don't know about parking for cars, but it appears that there is parking behind the hotel.
4.) To my regret there is no swimming pool. That'd be a deal breaker for me in BKK, but for me in Pattaya doesn't seem to be as big a deal.
Cheers,
Sean

thanks for the additional info.
Will have a look at it during my next trip or might even give it a try.
Nasty,
You will have to search and search hard! Been there, done that...
Prepare for a cheap room rather than an expensive one.
Expensive ones are full for sure.
Nasty - and what you will find is walk-up on the 5th floor (6th to US types - 5th to Europeans)
So I have been staying at the Roof Garden Inn here in Pattaya.
The rooms are clean and spotless, the staff here are great. I love the bathroom, Still got to get a girl back there tho!
They are girlfriend friendly and the one time I did bring a girl back, they took the ID which was a nice touch. Also the safe was nice and strong.
You do have to catch a bus to get to the action, but I dont mind.
Highly Recommend it, also very popular as its always full.
Good price. Check it out.
Can somebody please confirm this: That the Areca Lodge hotel is girl friendly BUT I have read that you cannot bring back two at a time. Is this true? Are there any other upper-class hotels close by that I should look at. I'm in need of that double fun!

during my last trip I had a look at their rooms and also asked them about their guest policy. Rooms are decent and they are guest-friendly but I wasn't asking if they will charge you for a second "guest". Usually guest friendly means as many as you can bear.
Why not ask them directly ?

Can anyone give me some first hand dealings with these two hotels in Pattaya? I'm looking for location and being able to walk to bars and the beach. I think both is no problem with bringing back guest to the rooms.
Thanks so much for your help here.
When I stayed there last year I had a couple of girls up to the room on several occasions and never had any problem.

FWIW arrived this week at the Sawasdee Seaview. Had a confirmed reservation for a large room in the new wing. They only had a small room in the old wing at an inflated price over the Internet price and no hope of getting into the new wing.
I checked out the next day and moved to the Eastiny closest to Beach Road on Soi 8. Actually worked out well. I walk out of the lobby of the Eastiny and I'm in the middle for the beer bars on Soi 8 :-).
Oh, and there is very little sea view from the Seaview.

Hello,
I am thinking about renting a moped when I will be in pattaya next month (one week stay ...). Should allow me to visit a little bit better the city and its surroundings for the daylight activities.
My question though is about parking the moped at night. I assume that it will be cheaper to rent for the whole week but where do you park safely the moped at night ? Last time I stayed at the Dynasty Inn and they had a roped area to park the moped, this time, I am planning to try the Diamond Beach or the Vault ...
Any advices?
Thanx

BTW, what is the room rate at present movement?
Gypsie,
Most hotels have parking spaces for motobikes.
The general advice on renting motobikes/mopeds in Pattaya is: DON'T!
Let me just point out a few reasons for that:
Scams, accidents, fines and bahtbuses provide cheap transport throughout the city and into Naklua and Jomtien.

Freeler,
agree, but you forgot to mention rain.
It can be a huge pain in the ass to have to ride back to your hotel in a thunderstorm.
I also heard that some people who rent out motorbikes will "steal" them to collect some extra income. They have the keys and that stolen motorbike can easily be sold upcountry where many bikes are driven without a licence. It's also no big deal to change the number at the frame and engine block.
Many people also never drove a motorbike and even if it's a small 150cc, the traffic is the same. And those who aren't used to drive at the "wrong side" (British and Singaporean, you too :D) are definitely looking for trouble.
There is absolutely no need to rent a motorbike in Pattaya, except for the purpose of moving out of town. I own one there, but often use the taxis because they are more convienient. Think about it.

Gypsie King,
don't worry, at least all middle class hotel and up have security who will have a look at the bikes as well. But buy a strong chain and a lock, don't only use the one which was provided - if any at all - by the guy who rented it out to you.
Also only use it if you want to move to Wat Yan, Nong Nooch, Khao Kiauw or other places out of town. If you aren't used to the traffic it might be a dangerous game and a taxi is usually more convienient anyway.
I usually use my bike during daytime to move through the town or for sightseeing and cruising to Sattahip, Rayong or Chonburi, but at night I often use taxis for a simple reason : only two persons allowed on a bike (late at night no prob), so you got to hire a taxi for the "additional" girls anyway :)

Thanx for all the informations guys. I still plan to rent a bike for my daylight visits around pattaya. I am an experienced bike driver (europe, africa and south east asia). The proof that I am experienced is that I don't plan to ever drive a bike in India (I thought I was a tough driver, changed my mind after having visited India).
Also I am used to drive on the right AND left side of the road, with enough traveling you have to anyway.
Anf finally, when I drive I don't drink alcohol, but I will keep in mind your advices about buying a good lock. I read a lot about the scams and that's what worry me the most in fact.

capt jb,
yes i stayed there once and i didn't like it.
you have a iving room with small balcony and a bedroom. the latter is quite small and facing the street, so you hear the traffic which runs from pattaya to jomtien and vice versa. remember, motorbikes aren't muted in los and people like to speed there. furniture is quite basic and a bit worn down, bathroom quite small too. better stick to the marriott, it's ten times better than the residence garden. location can also be a prob late at night because not many taxis drive that way en route past dawn.
JB I will respectfully disagree with Traveler since I prefer to stay at RG. The rooms are suites with a living room/dining room/kitchen combo and a bedroom. All of the bedrooms I have had have faced away from the street.
Each room has my favorite accessory, an in-room safe. You also get a good size refrigerator and stove in the kitchen area. There is a TV in both the living room and bedroom. The shower is a walk-in shower (no tub) that is easily big enough for two. The staff is friendly and the 1350 Pattaya Pages special rate makes it an excellent value.
Location is a slight problem. You'll need to take a baht bus to and from town to get there. But the ride is less than 5 minutes to a drop off point where you can walk one minute to Walking Street. At night I never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus to return to RG. I think its a great value with far more space than most other Pattaya rooms. I've never been to the Marriott but I'm sure Marriott is nicer. But the Marriott probably costs 5 times more.
Gypsie,
When police put a chain around your bike, don't get mad, just proceed to Soi 9, Beach Road end, pay the fine and return to your bike. If the policeman with the key is in the right mood, he will then unlock the bike for you.
There is a nice hospital just off Second and Central (Sai Song and Klang).
ATMs give out B20,000 max. So keep your credit card handy when your bike is 'gone'...
PS Havrum thought he was experienced too. Welcome to Pattaya!
I agree with Allover: RG is a deal by Pattya standards. It is a bit away from the fray -- and, even at its worst, quieter and more sane than many of the "closer in" places. [Nice pool and handy drink-and-food adjacent]. Walking Street is, as AO said, only 5 mins away [I didn't mind the walk - 10 at max. ]. The far end of the main drag in town is only 10 away. Jomtien is 5-10 the other direction. There are some less-attractive [older] rooms at RG -- the building farthest away from Reception; don't accept those lodginbs. So, too, ground level. The newer addition [above reception] and upstairs is what they usually put you in if you reserve online at the special rate. Staff is helpful and totally non-judgemental, as are the savvy guests [many Germans and spouses]. No walk of shame. One night last winter with I returned with my guest for the evening, I needed ice and the night watchman fetched me a LARGE bucket- -and some sort of tea that my lady friend wanted. If you want center-of-action stay on or near Walking Street [Eastiny is a good buy]. But, if you want a little distance and a lot quietude, the inconvenience of to-and-fro jittney [I can never remember what they're called in LOL] is very, very marginal. Finally, do the numbers: For the difference of what you would pay between RG and Marriott, you can have an entire day of pleasure [on those your cake and eat it to sort of arrangements. ] Have fun!

Gypsie,
as long as you park your motorbike according to the rules, police won't lock your bike. Have a close look at the traffic signs, in some streets it's only allowed to park at one side on even days and at the other side on odd days.
In case you have an accident, try to avoid the Memorial Hospital which Freeler just mentioned. The PIC in soi 4 or the Bangkok/Pattaya at Sukhumvit highway are much better. I have heard that the Memorial rejected even an emergency case because that guy had not enough cash or a credit card on his body.
And ALWAYS wear a crash helmet and long pants !

Allover,
taste differs and everybody has different needs and expectations. I know some people like the Residence Garden, but of course not all.
I have the great advantage of having met Capt JB in person. We have spent some time together and I believe to know what he expects from a hotel room.
Residence Garden is far below his standards.
The pics on their website don't show the current state of the rooms, furniture is a bit worn down or maybe I was just unlucky with the run of the house.
http://pattaya-hotelrooms.com/TheResidenceGarden/i_Hotel.htm
I think it would be of great help if anybody would provide up-to-date pics. I have been staying at the Residence Garden about 3-4yrs ago, so my info might be outdated in case they have renewed the furniture and renovated/refurbished the rooms.
Handing out MIS information again, huh?!
You know damn well that Thai police chain up your bike after any finable mishap. And then it's the walk to Soi 9.
You know damn well that the Soi 4 Hospital is on the NO GO list of all major travel insurers. They are a fraud.
I've seen people getting very good treatment at Memorial, even when they couldn't walk out and get the cash to pay the bills.

Freeler,
why so aggressive ?
Do you believe that flaming me makes any of YOUR info more valid ?
Or do you believe to have final wisdom ? Why not let the reader decide ?
Police doesn't always lock your bike up, that's complete nonsense !
How do you know, due to your own posts you don't drive there but I do !!!
I have been caught several times for not wearing a helmet or having more than one chick on my bike. They either order you to park the bike close to them or if you give them anything as a guarantee (e.g. the girl :)), let you drive with that bike to soi 9 to pay the fine there (usually 200 baht). Have done that everytime, no big deal.
I have been to the PIC several times, it's a private hospital and my favourite, clean and professional. It might not be the cheapest one but I don't care a few extra baht when I am sick or want a good checkup. I want to get the best treatment possible.
Regarding the Memorial : I have heard what I said, that they rejected to treat a foreigner who had an accident because he hadn't enough cash or a credit card with him. The emergency finally brought him to the Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. As far as I remember it was even printed in one of the local farang newspapers.
Just returned from Pattaya. Strong recommendation for the Areca Lodge at Soi Diana Inn near Pattaya Sai Song Road. Girl friendly, but don't know about 2 or more. Rooms start at 1090 baht. I stayed in the deluxe room at 1290. This was during the Lunar (Chinese) New Year, which is a high-season week, and finding rooms at nice mid-level hotels was tough. Rooms are good size w/ balcony. Excellent pressure hot shower. In-room safe & also security boxes at front desk--bring your own lock. This is a no-smoking-in-the-room hotel (500 baht fine), but you can smoke on the balcony. Two nice pools; the back one has sun all day. Also has small but decent exercise room and sauna. Good buffet breakfast for 2 included. Prices for food & bev are fair. Very short walk to the Kiss Restaurant, which is one of the best cheapie places in Pattaya. Good location as it's a short walk to Beach Road at Soi 12. I will stay here again. I don't know if I can put a URL for the place in the report, but you can google it.
Also stayed at J.A. Villa, Pattaya 3rd Road between Central & North Pattaya Road--much closer to North Pattaya Rd. This was an overpriced disappointment that I booked in Bangkok when I heard from a friend the Pattaya hotels were booked. Rooms at 1500 baht, but have varying discount rates through the year. Room was large, but shower pressure was weak. In-room safe. House keeping service was very poor. Small pool only has sun until 10 AM and after 3 PM during this time of year. Breakfast was crap. Hotel guests seemed mostly to be Chinese package tourists. Hotel is far from the action, and a lot of the bus/taxi drivers didn't seem familiar w/ the place. It is beside a driving range w/ PGA pro at 700 baht for 30-minute lesson, which may be desired by golfers. The Tesco on North Pattaya Rd is about a 10-minute walk.
About golfing. Hooked up w/ the Fun Pub at Soi 7 and Beach Road. Golf outing at approx. 1500 baht. Includes proper English breakfast at 10 AM, minibus to course at 11 AM, green fee, cart fee, caddy fee, return to bar and free beer at bar upon return. Does NOT include tip to caddy, which is typically 300 baht. Many cash prizes given upon return. The typical outing is 16 to 24 golfers. It's much easier to golf through a bar that arranges everything rather than doing so yourself because courses tend to be far away and the taxi is expensive. Ask for Peter to arrange.
I was for a few days in pattaya late July, good discounts in hotels 650 bt insteas of 950 bt for example, no need to book a room many are available, wheather is quite ok but not many people, anyway!
I am planning on staying in Pattaya for one week during the last week in March '06.
In the past years in the March time period I have been offered discounts on weekly rates. The Sunshine used to offer pay 5 and stay 7 days but they are not offering such discounts this year. How much success have people had in negotiating rates lower for longer stays during non peak times?
I've read that the Dynasty Hotel may offer lower rates for even 5 days of stay. I wrote the Hotel an Email but there was no response from them.
How much success have people had negotiating lower rates in person? I really don't want to do to much of this unless I know what I should be able to get.
I noticed that the Sabai Lodge offers lower rates starting April 1. My feeling is that unless you show up, and they have empty rooms, the hotels may not have any incentive to lower their rates.
It seems that most of the Pattaya hotels are quoting about 20 percent or more from rates a couple years ago? Any recent deals on popular hotels which are not advertised? I just would like to know what price I might be able to get.
Anyone stayed here recently, is it gf?
And is it a good value (about 50$)?
I stayed in a room at the Pig & Whistle (a very good English pub on Soi 7) this weekend. The room was comfortable and very clean. Rate was 750 Bhat per night including English breakfast. More of a bed and breakfast type place than a hotel but extremely good value for money. They only have 17 rooms so you really need to book in advance. No reception so no problems with guests. Safe in room along with a big fridge (only water supplied). No out of hours room service but there are plenty of places nearby. The whole place is very well run by a Brit and all his staff speak good English. A bit noisy up until 2am when the beer bars quieten down.
All in all, the best budget place I have stayed at in Thailand so far. I think they give discounts for long stay but not sure.
Their contact details are as follows:
Tel: +66 38 361315
email: whistle@loxinfo.co.th
I stayed at the Apex Hotel, a short walk from Soi 11. Rates very cheap at 500 baht. Rooms fairly basic and the hotel is a bit run down but it is close to the action, girl friendly and the buffet breakfast is excellent. I stayed there in January and took one of many girls back. This hotel is very strict about checking the ID's of girls and they retain the ID card until the girl leaves. This particular girl wouldn't perform OWO and wouldn't kiss so I told her to leave early. The receptionist would not let her leave the hotel until they had phoned me up in the room to check I was OK. I think at that price it is very good value for money.
I had to make last minute hotel reservations for Pattaya as I was not sure on exact day that I would be able to leave Bangkok. Upon trying to book into the Marriott and other better hotels I found them to all be sold out.
I needed a place to stay so I booked a room at the Residence Garden figuring if it was not up to expectations I would look for another place to stay. I was somewhat supprised upon arrival as the place did not look bad at all.
I was given a 2 room suite on the back side of the hotel overlooking the back swimming pool. Room had a kitchen area with stove, fridge, & microwave as well as silverware and dishes. There was also a bar with bar stools seperating the kitchen and livingroom areas. A nice private balcony overlooking the pool. The room was very clean and in excellent repair. The bed was not quite as big as the Marriott's but large enough, Bathroom looked to have been updated. Cost was under one half of the Marriott price and I actually had more room.
Each night they have a Texas Bar-b-que with steaks, ribs, pork chops ect. which you select yourself then give them to the grill man with instructions as to how you want them cooked. They have a nice salad bar including soup and a selection of Thai food for your Thai girl. Cost is 350 bt per person.
The restaurant setting is next to the main pool and they have a fellow who entertains with an electronic keyboard and sings. I enjoyed this and found it to be a good value for the money.
This hotel is about a 10 min walk to the south end of Walking street but there are plenty of Baht Buses going and coming. I would stay at this hotel again.

The main reason for this is I'd like to bring a showgirl back and have her do a little dance for me.

Hi All,
Staying at the above hotel which is new and located on Soi Bucaow, the rooms are good and spacious security is excellent regarding visitors they are logged into a register and ID taken, logged out when they leave and ID returned.
I am paying 800 baht per night no breakfast I would not stay here again as it is too far to walk to 2nd road and the traffic on Soi Bucaow is dangerous as there are no footpaths. Next time I will return to Areca lodge.
May the force be with you.

How hard can it be to find a 'go-go interior making firm' that wants to work at your place?
Your chances to convince a go-go girl to do her moves at your place are pretty good, I'm sure.

Hi,
None of the Pattaya hotels I checked, all in the B250-500 range, changed their prices since July 2005.
You will still find good fan rooms for B250 and good to excellent aircon rooms for B350.
The worst one I saw was B550, had NO windows and smelt bad.
Mine was excellent at B350, tv, fridge, view, big bed, hot water.
So, for gawdsake, forget about paying B1,200 a night for a room!
Go cheap, live happy.

Marteau,
Please read what it says: ROOM, not HOTEL.
That is a very significant difference.
I've given advice on how to find hotels on many occasions: Get one for the first night and start fukken looking!
That's how I did it. That's how others do it. That's how you should do it.
Ok, more about the hotel: It's located in a rather busy soi off Sai Song. It has 15 rooms, half have fans, half have air. In fact, the air rooms have a fan too. All rooms have tv and fridge, but only air rooms have hot water. Every room has a balcony and depending on the location of the room in the hotel, you have or don't have a view. Some rooms are noisy, some are not. Good and bad rooms are the same price. Get it?
Which hotel to use when you have relatives along but want a convenient, FS massage at the hotel? (no, I'm not married but still...)
And are babysitting services reliable at Pattaya hotels?
Which hotel to use when you have relatives along but want a convenient, FS massage at the hotel? (no, I'm not married but still...)
And are babysitting services reliable at Pattaya hotels?Don't know of any such places. Have the hotel manager call an outcall masseuse for you.
Here my advice: Instead of a fancy overpriced place, get TWO rooms in a cheaper one and have your privacy.
I usually stay at the Royal Night in Soi 5 (they do not advertise on the net, don't have to, lots of regulars, mostly Thais and expats). Take only a bungalow at the S side of the street. Just like at a good old fashioned US motel you can walk/drive right up to it from the street. No problem with visitors.
Rate last time was 350 THB for BIG room with a/c, hot water, in high season. Maybe higher around holidays.
Which hotel to use when you have relatives along but want a convenient, FS massage at the hotel? (no, I'm not married but still...)
And are babysitting services reliable at Pattaya hotels?I don't know if I would entrust my own offspring to anybody in Thailand, but there will be plenty of volunteers to watch your cute ferang kid/s for a tip. There is a very casual attitude about children's safety though. You might want to hire a full time nanny during your stay (pay her 150-100 THB/day and lunch).
Marteau,
Please read what it says: ROOM, not HOTEL.
...... Good and bad rooms are the same price. Get it?Don't forget Serviced Apartments/Condos in Patty and Jomtien, there are tons of them, everywhere in LOS tourist destinations. Bigger, better and friendlier than hotels at a much lower price. Just google for them.
Fkk,
Serviced aps beat hotel/gh-rooms handsdown, if you stay a month or more.
But I don't think I can stand Pattaya that long - wouldn't have a dick left:(
OK (don't laugh) what IF I needed to hire a nanny (totally non-service) for an OLD (gao-sip bee) poo-chai? Someone to see that he didn't wander off (or at least wander with him and bring him back)
ducking and covering in expectation of the flak...
Can you tell us more about your good hotel for 350 baht, please.

Soi 6 has a lot of places in this price range, and you're on one of the most active Sois in Pattaya. Just walk along the Soi and ask to see a room. Avoid carpeted rooms as they're musty; tiled floors are best.
However, as FKKGuide rightly points out, serviced apartments/condos are the way to go for a long stay. I saw ads posted for places in the 4000-4500 baht range for a month, so that's approx. 150 baht per day. I did not visit any place, but there are so many long-term stay options it's probably best to hit the ground, stay at cheap place on Soi 6 for a few days, and look around for something that suits your needs.

Instead of "chaining" my bike, I only had to give the policeman anything that guaranteed that I will pay the fine. I choosed my international drivers license (have about 5 of them, so no prob) and paid a couple of days later at police station in Soi 9.

Alright, I have some experience with this. Don't ever let the police lock up your bike. If he asks for your international driver's license, tell him you left it in your room. Then tell him that you'll just pay the fine right now. Shouldn't be more than 200 baht. This is a bribe - he'll just pocket the fine and you can go. Works every time. Just proof of how corrupt the police are in this country. Also, don't ever let him get behind you - he'll most likely plant some drugs in your pocket and then the bribe goes up to 3-4000 baht. I'm always tempted to just take off - I mean, the chances of the guy going after me are pretty slim, but haven't gotten the chance yet.

Durianfan,
why so scared about police ?
And do you really try to tell me that a policeman once found some drugs on you that he placed there before ?
Or what do you mean by "I have some experience with this" ?
If not, it's just one of those stories that might have had happen once in a while during a raid, but in no way because you were caught for not wearing a crash helmet. Or do you really believe that most policemen who control traffic are carrying drugs with them ?
So, did something like that already happen to you or is that just hear-say and one of those stories to scare people who do not know better ?
Anyway, bribing was possible - or better standard routine - before Thaksin took over. Nowadays they don't dare anymore. It might still work with a few, but definitely not as many as in the past.
I most often drop my international drivers license with them, no big deal. Just a shitty piece of paper, easy and cheap to get a new one and I have about 5 of them. When I pass by Soi 9 the very next time - even a couple of days later - I stop by and pay the fine. Convienient and fast.
BTW, if you can't provide a drivers license, you might not only immediately have to park your bike/car (quite rarely but possible), you could also be fined for not having one and (in case you have one) must show it when paying the fine at the police station. Why applying for and carrying an international drivers license and not providing it when being asked for it by law enforcement is beyond me.
Also remember, if you park your bike/car at a place where it is forbidden, they lock it.

I stayed there about 4 yrs ago. Must be GF since the bell boy's first question (as we entered the elevator) was not which floor but did I want a massage girl sent to the room.
Rooms are (were) ok. Clean and comfortable. On the smaller size.
Stayed there 3 years ago? perhaps they thought I was a newb, they tried to charge a 400 'joiner fee' said screw u & went upstairs. checked out 2 days later-no further item on the bill.

Take the bus from Ekami (Eastern) Bus Station. I don't remember the exact cost because I drive now. But it isn't more than a couple of dollars.
The BKK BTS goes directly to the Bus Station.
Have you been to Thailand before, and if not, why do you want to go to Pattaya?
Why Pattaya?
It can't be for the beaches - the water isn't clean. It wouldn't be for the Tiger Zoo - it sucks! It has to be beause he heard / read about the hundreds of bars and thousands of girls there - all of them ready to fuck him silly until his wallet is empty. :-)

My point exactly! Why go to Pattaya when BKK is much better.

That's a good plan. Pattaya is easy to get to and can be interesting for a few days. Anything more than that I don't understand. I have friends who have retired in Pattaya because it is cheap to live, but I don't see how they can tolerate it.
Have you been following the Pattaya thread?

QUESTION:
Greetings-
I enjoyed your photos and would like your opinion of the Woodlands. Was it guest friendly? Looks nice. How was the location for access to the bars?
I have never made it to Pattaya but always stay at the SGS, Westin or Jasmine when in BKK.
ANSWER:
Woodlands - Some mongers have had trouble there in the past, but I have not. I have stayed there 3 times in the last 4 years, for about a week each time. I didn't bring in a girl every night but probably 4 - 5 times per week. When I did it was usually later at night (11-12) when not too many people were around. I don't know it this makes a difference or not. The front desk clerk will check / keep her I.D., then, check that I had paid for double occupancy.
I have never been charged a joiner fee.
I have heard that joiner fee problems have happened when people pay low rates via the internet for some hotels. I booked via walk in to the front desk this last time because no rooms were available via the internet.
It's a nice place so if she is dressed well enough you probably won't have any trouble.
As with any hotel, if you check in with your BG, then no trouble at all. Get her a room key if she ventures out by herself. All the rooms at Woodlands have in room safes so lock up your valuables then no worries. It was big enough to hold my laptop.
Woodlands is away from most of the action - it's in North Pattaya. There are some beer bars across the street but most of the action is on beach road Pattaya Sai 2 road and the soi's running between them. Take the Baht Bus to the action. It is a short walk to the bus stop and a cheap 5-10 min ride. (10 baht)
nocbj4me
I'll arrive Pattaya in a week and wonder which of the two is better.
I notice that both of them are in the middle of the action but got the impression ( from the posts ) that the Sunshine is a bit old...

Hi
Was wondering, any Pattaya hotels with free in room internet?
I understand both the Pentouse and the Vault offer this, but are there any others?
My ideal option is a hotel which offers free in room internet and a swimming pool!!
Another question, LK Mansions seems to be very well priced. Any reports of staying there? And off course the main question, is it guest friendly?
Thanks

The LK Metropole is 100% girl-friendly, otherwise I wouldn't have recommended it, so no need to worry.
Rooms and and even floors are very nice, electronic key-cards, electronic in-room safe, good gym, only the pool is quite small but all in all a very nice place.
Nope, mean LK Mansions. LK have three different properties in Pattaya:

The Areca Lodge is Girl Friendly. Yes, they demand the girl's ID for security reasons and this is left with reception and she can claim it back with the "white chit" when she leaves. It says clearly on that white chit that it's FREE OF CHARGE.
There are two pools in the Areca Lodge.
One of the better hotels in that price range for sure.

Traveler,
What is Areca like ? ....I am looking for a place with pool and also a gym...at a nominal fee.....Metropole looks great but a tad pricy.....The Roof Garden Inn at 700 baht a night with no pool and the surcharges like banking fees that this guy adds to the bill is a bit much. His ADSL is also 250.- baht per day where as other hotels are charging 100.- baht. Not a huge amount of money but its the principal. The Mansion at 600.- baht looks great. Are these places all GF or do they have add on fees ? The Roof Garden does not charge joiner fees.
Cheers
I'd give Areca Lodge positive review and recommendation for what you are looking for. Two very nice pools, and gym that seems pretty good, though I've never used it.
Stayed there three different times over past couple of years. Always girl friendly, even in multiples. Good location. Only negative experience was last May/June when it was full of drunk US military types.
What is Areca like ?
Buzz, the Areca is great. I posted a report at http://www.internationalsexguide.info/forum/showpost.php?p=432866&postcount=390
Right now Sawasdee is offering
stay 5 pay 4,
stay 7 pay 5, and
stay 15 pay 10
600B/night (you do the math)
There is an internet cafe corner of Buakhao and Diana where you can buy 840 minutes (14 hours pay 10 get 4 free) for 300B and USE YOUR OWN MACHINE (for those of us who LIKE travelling with the albatross around our necks)
Some other places are having specials as well. For those of you who want to do Roof Garden, they charge to RENT their ADSL modem (250 B/day) IF you have your own, bring it and use it - they won't know - no way to tell at all. I actually don't think their 700B rate is all that good with the other places available (closer in, walking distance) . Eastiny has several rooms with "free internet" for 1200B/night (right...). Unless you like the location, and the noise... well... "up to you".

Buzz,
all those you mentioned are girl-friendly, don't worry.
Areca is well maintained, nice and clean rooms with electronic in-room safe. Never used the gym at Areca, but it looked ok. Also don't know if they have Wi-Fi, since I don't bring my laptop anymore, cheap internet cafes are everywhere. All in all Areca is a very good choice.
Dinghy,
The purple hotel on Buakhao and Soi Honey Inn has a similar deal.
The Flippers will surely follow.
To first time visitors: book just one or two nights in advance and do some search and find other hotels once on the ground. Works everytime in low season!
Phantomtiger2
05-15-06, 22:09
I think the purple hotel on Soi Bukow and Soi Honey is the Sawasdee hotel Dinghy is referring to as this is the only Purple building I could think of in this area.
I've stayed there last year and the overall quality is not worth the price, but then I stayed in Nov during high season so value could be better in off season (but this still wont change the poor quality of the place)
Phantom,
Had I checked my pix better, has I seen:
Purple hotel = Siam Sawasdee on Soi Buakhao
The Sawasdee Sea View on Beach Road Soi 10 also has a stay 15 pay 10 and a stay 7 pay 5 deal.
Sawasdee Pattaya is also "purple" (light, faded purple) - didn't look at the others
All 5 of the Sawasdee hotels have the same deal - I usually get a fan room in a cheap charlie place (locals live there) but now that the price is 250 for fan or 350 for AC w/o TV or refrig, it just isn't worth it compared to the 400 at Sawasdee for the 15 night deal.
There is a slight advantage to Sawasdee Siam or Pattaya because they have LIFTS (and after last year's trudging up 12 flights of stairs to "chun hah" at the Court, I can do without climbing the mountain, thank you very much)
Areca looks nice but... <read my second paragraph> a little bit out of my desired price range - the location being almost up to Buakhao on Diana, it's a nice looking place and the "non-smoking" aspect is nice, too. <but I wonder if any of the girls don't want to "sa-moke" because of the "no smoking" policy > snicker
Sawasdee seems to be Thailand's version of "Motel 6"(this comparison will be lost on you "non-'Murcans" though)
Well I am gonna stay at the Areca in August as I swing back to Korea. I wouldnt mind staying at the roof garden inn again because their rate is only 700 baht which i consider a bargain. The staff at RGI was awesome, I loved the night manager. Always had a smile on his face and we used to stay up chatting about stuff and he would say that the girls I brought back were ok, but I could get prettier!
The only thing I didnt like about RGI was catching a Taxi down to the action all the time. Its not a huge distance or anything but if you try to head down to the beach at dinner time, its pretty jammed full of cars. Also the non pool thing sucks. But apart from that the places were well kept and nice view.
Cant wait to get back to Pattaya.

Bro Dinghy,
you are correct that the Siam Sawasdee do have an elevator--but it is old and broke down frequently when I stayed there last year. They originally had me in upper floor and when I got tired of all that walking up they finally allowed me to change to a lower floor room.
Also. I dont know how often they clean their pool but it was filthy and dont think that water could've supported any life--the water on Patt. beach was cleaner.
PM me if you guys need any more dirt on this place.

So I am in the process of booking a room at Areca. I did an email reservation and I got an email back saying to confirm my room I need to pay a deposit.
But the thing thats got me iffy is that they want me to photocopy both sides of my credit card and tell them my CV2 number on my Visa and fax that to them.
The point of having a CV2 number is to prove that you have the card in my possession.
I emailed them back and noticed it was from a different email address to the one on the site and the fax number they said I had to fax this to was different to the one on the website. So I am majorly iffy here. A credit card number should be enuf to book a room.
Anyone else have no problems with doing this sort of paperwork to reserve a room. I really dont want to give them a carbon copy of my credit card.

I have stayed at the areca twice confirming that way and never had a problem with it. The reason for the code on the back of the card is to make sure someone submitting payment through the internet or on phone that the other person has the card and is not just using a number he found on a credit card reciept.

I will do a tricky mongering experiment in Pattaya/Jomtien next august that is I will go on my own as a divorced father with my 2 kids.
I would like them to enjoy their holidays while enjoying my own mongering at the same time ...
I guess Jomtien is preferable to Pattaya or Naklua in that context ... ?
Does someone know from the selection below which hotels are girl-friendly and will allow me to discretly sneak my BG in my own room every night :-) ?
- Grand Jomtien Palace
- Pinnacle
- Jomtien Thani Hotel
- Sigma resort club and Hotel
- Sunset village
- Welcome Jomtien Beach Hotel
Any other suggestion ?
Which one would you recommend in my own setting (together with my kids) ?
PM are very welcome too.
Thanks and have fun,

For the newbies, here's a small range to choose from.
I personally like Soi 13 between Beach Rd & 2nd Road. The soi is "relatively" quiet considering how close to the action it is. Several newer hotels to choose from in a range from 800 to 1400. Inn House is 2 yo and got 800 in the past including bkfst. I see the little restuarant has been removed from out front, so maybe now there is no food. I checked in to the White House, almost to 2nd rd, still soi 13. Open since Sept '05. Very nice - std room 1250, adsl in room 100 more, includes bkfast.
If you want cheap but acceptable - try 13-1 also called Soi Yamoto, also between Beach rd and 2nd rd. SA Apartments, for example, has 400 bht room with air, hot water. If you want a room with a window - 500 bht. I think the initial odor is cockroach poison. Not so quiet here. I stayed in another new hotel for 400 bt per night - almost as nice as the White House. Here is what you give up - you are on 3rd Road, 20 min walk from the action. So, you can songthao or motorbike each trip. No internet, no restaurant, shower area in the "stand before the mirror area" of your hongnam. Had to put the shower cap over the toilet paper. I very much like new, nice, cheap but I could only do this for 2 nights. It's called Prima Palace. Not as quiet as you might expect either, but, this is Pattaya.

I stayed at the Inn of the Golden Crab on soi 13 and loved it. It's a modern serviced apartment complex with many long term residents. I had a one bdrm w/full bath, CTV, AC, kitchen and living room. it was around $20 a night. They have a small pool, a night guard and are GF, they just ask you to be civil.
It was a 5 minute walk to walking street.
Plenty of shopping, 7-11 on 2nd Rd, really good resturants on soi 13 also.
There is a beer bar with some good gals. I hooked up with one a few times.

ok I have a stupid question but here goes.
While in pattaya last year (June 20) we found a hotel a half block off beach road on one of the soi's. Problem is I don't remeber which soi it was and cant rember the name of the hotel. I have looked on the net and cant seem to find it.
All I remember is that it was close to the "subway" on beach road. I cant figure out on any map I look at what soi is close to the subway. Anyone know what soi's are between the subway on beach road?
Also perhaps someone will know the hotel I am refering to.
It was just being finished in June of last year when I was there. It is a "Yellow coloured" hotel with a outdoor pool on the third floor. Brand new at the time
Can anyone help. I really like the staff and the location and I am arriving in pattaya at about 2am so I would like to know where it is so I don't have to waste to much time trying to find it.
I know this is a vague as it comes but hey! You never know. One of you guys out there might know what the hell I'm talking about.
Any help would be much apreciated!
Subway is in Tipp Plaza between 10 and 11. Obviously, from your description, the hotel would be on 10 or 11. The only place I remember being constructed is next to Sawaadee Seaview on 10 - away from Beach on the left side of the road just beyond Sawasdee. I seem to remember 10 is one way going toward Beach.
ok I have a stupid question but here goes.

Would that be 10 or 11?
It was actually closer to road 2 than the Beach Road.
Thats 10 - subway is on Beach, turn left and you will get to 11

I have stayed at this place the last few visits to Pattaya and I really rate it. If you are looking for somewhere secure, safe, friendly and clean then Apex is the one. Only 450-500 baht/night. This includes good cable TV, aircon and a great mini-bar which is actually the size of a conventional kitchen fridge which is fully stocked with lots of beautiful goodies.
The place is cleaned everyday and a good en-suite bath/shower. It is girl friendly too with ID's always checked, and I even saw one time, the guy behind the desk stop a 'girl' and talk to the guy to warn him that it was a 'katoey', and check to see if he was aware and happy with it.
The breakfast buffet every morn for 105baht is excellent, and a great way to stuff ya face for the day.
It's on 2nd road close to the LEK Hotel which I think is near Soi Diana, but not absolutely sure of that. Apex is well known and all taxi/moto/baht bus drivers will know it.

See my previous post and that of other members on this hotel. Whilst I won't argue it is extremely girl friendly and well located, it is an absolute dive inside. The walls, carpets and rooms are generally very tatty and dirty although you wouldn't think so by the clean state of reception. For a couple of hundred extra baht you could stay in much cleaner establishments with all the facilities that the Apex offers. The breakfast buffet is delicious at the Apex but it was all the other winged guests that wanted to share it that put me off. I have used the Apex a number of times but would never go back there again, having checked out some of the other hotels.

Estiny at soi 10 is the hotel I was refering to!
I spoke with them and confirmed it. This hotel is brand new and very clean, has adsl as well as free internet use in the lobby, this place is girl freindly. The pool on the 3rd floor is excellent and the rooms are very nice.
The price I was qouted was 900baht. I think last year I paid 880baht, however the place was under construction. I think for the price it is a great place. If you don't mind paying that much then check it out.
We had a awsome pool party last time I was there with about 6 bg's and two of my buddies and myself.
Anyways I like the location and the quality of the place. I recomend it to anyone!
I previously stayed at both Eastiny Place & Inn, will be back sometime in Fall 2006, wondering why the different rates on their website (reg room/double occ) 1800-2000thb on soi 8. when I was there in fall 2003/4 it was about 750-850/night. I see some recent posters are still getting it about 900 - is this the walk in rate?

I stayed at the Inn of the Golden Crab on soi 13 and loved it. It's a modern serviced apartment complex with many long term residents. I had a one bdrm w/full bath, CTV, AC, kitchen and living room. it was around $20 a night. They have a small pool, a night guard and are GF, they just ask you to be civil.
It was a 5 minute walk to walking street.
Plenty of shopping, 7-11 on 2nd Rd, really good resturants on soi 13 also.
There is a beer bar with some good gals. I hooked up with one a few times.
Just my 2bt worth

I found this hotel/water park/crazy as phuck if you ride the wire down from the resturants place. Looks really interesting. Especially the 50+ story drop on a wire if you have balls enough. I don't, you may, but I'd shit myself.

Shamas O'DI am currently staying at The Vault in one of the penthouse suites. I will get back with a better report, but i can tell you that this place really rocks.!. Some of my friends are staying in the longrooms and are happy with them, but I would go for the penthouse (4 times bigger and has everything) There are som pictures at the www.thevaultpattaya.com, but it looks even better than i expected. The girls really LOVE the gogopole in the room, and I am very sorry that I will have to leave for phuket in a couple of days.

Marriott costs less than the vault, you're getting a great deal from JW, wish I could.
Best I can find is $109 USD per night at the JWM, the Vault is 2800Bt.
The Hard Rock Hotel around Soi 6 is really nice also.

BTW: the location you refer to indicates this hotel is the Eastiny Residence (ER) Hotel (just clarifying hotels so I don't make a mistake).
I am thinking of changing hotels for my upcoming holiday and want to "upgrade" in quality. I have usually stayed over on Soi Pattaya Land 2, towards Walking Street area. But I am growing weary staying at the same hotel (have been since 1997). So I'd appreciate any information you can share with me about the ER Hotel.
Also, I don't pay much attention to street signs, so about how far (time or distance) is Walking Street from the ER Hotel? Please advise.
Lastly, are the rooms plain and boring or do they have "amenities" such as mirrors on the ceilings, assorted "toys", and mini bar w/fridge? Please advise.
Thanks in advance.

Information Please: Does anyone have information on the Champ Pattaya Hotel?
It's located at Pattaya Land Soi 3 and Second Road? It's in the vicinity of the Bamboo Bar and Wat Chaimongkon.
The URL: http://www.thailand-hotel.net/champ-pattaya-hotel-thailand/
The photos on the website fail to really show the rooms, the pool, and any other amenities. Is it girl friendly? Good A/C? Clean? Mini bar w/fridge? Maids friendly?
Thanks in advance.

Nice staff, great service, great pool, great breakfast-the place was full when I was there in May!

Areca Lodge, I have good reports on other forums.
Spokane - GREAT PLACE!!! just a bit pricey for ME (up soi Diana between 2nd and Buakhao - that's to the east, actually ) Roughly 1200B/night and GF BUT NOT SMOKER FRIENDLY (I think they have a website)
I tend to go to Sawasdee myself if I want A/C - their "promotion" is 5 for 4, 7 for 5 and 15 for 10 (nights) at 600B/night base rate (no pool though except at Siam and no lifts except at Siam or Pattaya)

I was planing to stay there but emailed lk metropol and they gave me a deal off the daily rate. As was said before the lk is a place to stay for a long time as opposed to my week and a half stay as the prices drop dramtically...
But try email them and ask if they can offer a discount based on the length of your stay..

LK Metropole, which AliasDonkey recommended - just across the street is definitely superior to it and also girl-friendly.

What do you think of the following hotels...Jomtien Thani and Jomtien Garden? Are they good and girlfriendly? Does the girls find it a problem to go to Jomtien from pattaya or is that no problem?
Other hotels I am interested in...the Cosy Hotel and the Island View Hotel. Are these good and girlfriendly hotels?
Thanks.

The Sabai Lodge Hotel complex is a huge area with 4 Hotels inside this area. They are named after the 4 pools. So we have the Large Pool, the Dolphin Pool, the Ruan Thai Pool and the Sabai Wing Pool.
In the near surrounding you have the Big see, a large shopping centre with different kind of restaurants, the 3 Sabaii massage parlours, lot of entertainment like beer bars and the famous travesty shows of Alkazar and Tiffanies.
More information about the Sabai Lodge location and the different prizes can be found in the internet. Photos are available too.
I had booked the Deluxe Ruan Thai House via internet for 4 weeks and a prize for about 1. 950 Baht a day.
The description of the Hotel says:
Large Thai classical house, ground floor level at Ruan Thai pool area, double bed, luxury shower room, writing desk, private sitting area.
Opposite these houses is the Ruan Thai Deluxe see, a building with 3 stories.
That is the description of the Hotel in the internet. And the reality? Here is my answer:
Everything they described is true. The little houses are excellent, the chattels very comfortable. The room service worked well. Little problems we had with our private Ice machine – the air-condition – Sometimes ice-cubes were thrown out of the aircon without any order of mine. But one call to the reception and in a few minutes the mechanic came and tried to repair. In vain, as it seemed, because he had to repair that thing several times.
The breakfast in the Sala Thai Restaurant was good. As well American breakfast as also Thai food, European sausages and cheese and a lot of fruits. So I think the breakfast is acceptable for everybody. My steady Thai lady agreed with me. Finally I should say, that everything is ok with that Hotel
. BUT
Yes, there is a big but, and I can not keep quiet about that.
Opposite the Ruan Thai building is the Western and country club Kum Pann, mostly frequented by Thais. And only 100 meters away is the huge beer bar scene of the Soi 2.
That means: Loud, extremely loud music until 1 a. M. No possibility to sit outside your house on the terrace and enjoy the night and the weather and lean a little bit back and let your mind wander. Only chance to bridge that is: Every night party in the scene and don’t come back home before 1 a. M. Well, I have no problems with that, because I am on vacation. BUT
If I had known that before, I certainly had thought a matter about my decision to book that hotel.
So finally I can say: Good hotel, good rooms, good service, good breakfast, friendly and polite staff, and of course very girl friendly.
This hotel is good for everybody, who uses the daytime to relax and to charge the batteries for the next night. Then party or hunting until 1 a. M. Or make other good things, where loud music is not bothering.
My personal decision is, that the next time, when I come back to LOS in November / December, I will not book this hotel again.
Enjoy your life. You only have this one.

Thanks for the helpI have used them before and didn't have any problems. However, it seems as if prices have crept up on this websites in the last year or two. You might want to try www.asiahotels.com, www.globebookings.com to name a couple. You can do a google search and compare the different website because prices can be different for hotels on each website.

Stayed here for 6 days in the last fortnight.
Pool was still being repaired when I left.
While the hotel allows girls, I wouldn't say they are friendly, indeed from my observations, reception staff were quite frosty. Ok, they are obeying the letter of the law, but all that form filling is ridiculous.
Rooms are clean but a little shabby.
Food is average, but with great places nearby, no worries.
Bellhops etc are useless money grubbers.
Location is only so so in my view. Looked at rooms in LK across the road, much nicer but also much more expensive.
Can also recommend Eden Massage 100mts from Areca for genuine great massage and body scrub.

Just checked in there today and I'm afraid the pool is being worked on. Luckily

Have used Asiarooms.com twice. 1st time it was ok--no problems, 2nd time there was a problem with the booking--hotel charged much higher than asiaroom advertised price. Asiarooms said just pay whatever amount hotel ask and since everything done by CC--they will resolve and refund difference as I have the original confirmation and cheaper price. This happened last year and I am still in dispute for this "promised refund". They have since stop taking my calls and letters. Lesson here: if everything turns out right--they are ok. If there is a problem--your money seems lost forever.
