Some areas along Walking street have lots of ladyboys. Make sure they don't hang around there or you WILL get harrassed. There may be a ladyboy bar downstairs? Another member needs to chime in because I can't remember that area. That and making sure it's quiet and that they don't charge for joiners are all I care about.

Can recommend Soi 2 Inn, newly opened Hotel (serviced appartements). Price is negotiable, for al longer stay about 1.000 B. Rooms are spacious and you can even have a look at the sea from 6 or 7 floor. No problem bringing two ladies.

Anyone been here?

Looks pretty cool at a reasonable price, just a bit worried about the area, mostly gay surrounding and staff I've read, anyone been there or has any valid/similar alternatives?

The Sunshine Hotel sucks. Under renovation and over priced. Avoid.

SunLover+1

There is constant noise either from construction or music from the bars! Oh and they charge joiner fee now! There are security guards standing by elevators. The rooms are 35 years old. That's the age of the hotel.

Spending a week in Pattaya and looking for a reasonable hotel with bath tub that is close to the action, but not too noisy.

Currently veering towards the Residence Garden in Jomtiem, but interested in the views/experiences of others. Stayed at the LK Renaissance last time. Crap breakfast, but otherwise OK. The reduction in the £ value makes me look elsewhere - prepared to pay up to 2k baht per night.

Sandy Springs Hotel on Soi 13 has a bathtub. If you book it through www.scandibar.com you'll get a free Tiger Draft at the Scandi Bar on Beach Rd (per day).

I'm all booked up and ready for my next Pattaya trip.
Now only the accommodation left.....

Was thinking about Le-Katai, as it seems to tick all the boxes:
Balcony
Free Wifi
Close to Soi LK (my fave)
Easy access to baht bus
Good menu and drinks variety
...and most important...GF with (i believe) private entrance.

Have RTTF, but hardly a mention.
Anybody stayed here, or have any knowledge about the place.
Can somebody please confirm if they do indeed have a private entrance, as conflicting info on the net.

As always, any information would be most appreciated.

My friend stayed here while I stayed at Areca. He had a bad experience- paid 650 and got the room facing the street which was loud until 2am and then loud from 6am with people setting up stalls. The rooms were dirty, air con weak and no security on the door. No safe box and the downstairs one you need to bring your own lock.

Pass on this one. Plus the reception wasn't that friendly or customer friendly

Thanks LBM for your input on the Nova Gold location.
Their website says 10 minutes walk to the beach. I'd say that is possible but you'd be really moving. For those who like the Soi 6 area, this hotel is not a bad location.

While I did like the hotel I will never go back and not recommend it because the staff has no clue about service.

It went like this.
On my first night, of 5 booked, it was raining hard when I returned to the hotel. They assured me on check-in that the shuttle would pick me up any time day or night from 2nd road. I called for the shuttle and it never showed. When I sloshed into the lobby totally drenched from a motorbike ride in the rain, I was not happy.

A couple of days later I asked to have my room made up while I went out. Returning 4 hours later it was not.

On checkout they pulled the minibar scam on me. I was not so opposed to paying for the opened mineral water that they claimed came from my minibar, but the desk clerk asked me 5 times if I consumed it.
She really pissed me off because she insinuated that I was lying even after I told her what I really wanted was to checkout and be on my way - pay for it if need be. Also, when she asked me how was the room, I truthfully answered that it was great, except the hot water sometimes was in short supply.
She suggested that I did not let it run long enough rather than acknowlege the problem.

So, it's very nice at 1350 on wotif but the staff knows nothing about customer service.

I stayed recently at the Mercure - can endorse most of the comments of Ryo below and in the full post. Got it a fraction cheaper on wotif

Nothing much more to say but I got advice on the Mercure before I went so am reporting back..

My first time in Pattaya, I stayed at the Mercure for 3 nights on two separate stints.

I took their internet deal for a regular room at 1800 baht, and upon my arrival both times I got a free upgrade.

Both the room and the bathroom were not the biggest, but very clean and comfortable.

Looking for a place with a fitness center/weights and pool (not just pool) in addition to all the usual girl-friendly qualities and free wifi etc.

Would like to spend around 50 dollars a day.

Ideas?

I just walked past it and it's more than a BIT rundown. It's on top of a seedy third rate shopping stall. I don't think you'd really enjoy it. There are SO many better choices.

The Citin Garden Resort is having a special promotion with rooms under 1,000 baht/night.

It's seldom you find 38-sq m rooms which hold such a high standard at such a low price. Check out the details: Citin Garden Resort (http://www.citingardenresort.com/offers.php). You have to stay three nights to get the low rate.

The hotel's location is a bit out of the way (off Pattaya Tai not far from Sukhumvit Road, maybe five minutes' walk from BigC), but it has tuk-tuk service and it's really not a long walk to the baht bus routes.

I haven't stayed at the Citin Garden Resort, but I have stayed at the Citin Loft and it was an excellent hotel. It's the same chain.

Is there such a thing? I like a place that's quite between midnight and 10AM. I'm thinking the LK Renaissance looks nice, but I'm worried about the noise which seems to be everywhere in Pattaya. Also just contemplating paying up to stay at the Marriott.

I am staying at the LK Renaissance now there are no problems with noise, I always stay in one of the studio rooms at the back, (1800 Baht all in) The hotel is great service is excellent free breakfast, I stay in Marriots and Hyatts world wide TH LK is just as good but much better value. My girl friend at the moment loves it she said the staff are nice with her and make her feel welcome. She was in Areca lodge before and says the staff there look down on bar girls and won't speak with them but they are allowed in.

If it wasn't for the bar girls the would be a lot of empty hotel rooms in Pattaya.

A while ago I went to Jasmine Hotel for a short time around 5am. She said "Do you want short time or long time" and I said "Short time" to which she replied "Sorry, all full." I wondered why she even asked me. Instead of questioning or being sarcastic I said "Okay no problem, give me an overnight room" and it was 450 baht. The room had good lighting but smelled a little like mildew. It was odd that there was a kitchen area, hot plate to cook, but no dishes.

I will soon be travelling to Pattaya for the first time and I plan to focus on freelancers. I understand that the freelancers can be found along Beach Road. However, Beach Road is a pretty long street and ideally I would like to be able to walk back to my hotel after finding the girl for the night. Referring to the street marked on this map

http://chmai.loxinfo.co.th/~summer/pattaya-map.GIF

Can somebody point out where most of the freelancers are to be found? Then I can used agoda.com or hotels.com to find a hotel nearby.
They're all along the beach, but you'll find a lot between 13/2 and Central Pattaya Klang. Mikes Shopping Mall (Soi 12) is about the middle I suppose.

I've stayed at the LK Renaissance numerous times over the past few years. I only have good things to say about it except for the lower price rooms don't have a "true" shower. Staff, facilities, pool, etc have always been great.

My other choice recently has been Sandy Spring on Soi 13. Great location with the only drawback, no safe in the room (except the top tier rooms). Though they have a very convenient safe deposit box at the front desk.

Both of these hotels are quiet as can be (if you stay on the backside of the Renaissance).

I am used to take a garden suite at the ground floor. Also, the entrance from the walking street is good for privacy.

By the way, I'll be there from Nov. 15 till 21.

As I said earlier I have been staying at the above hotel, The rooms do have a jacuzzi by the way. One small complaint was I wanted a late checkout, the only offer they would give me was 900baht for a 18:00 checkout (half price) I wanted to leave at 22:00. I had the 18:00 check out but on reflection I should have gone across the road and paid for all night 600baht it is called small home or something similar my girl at the time said the rooms were good there, I only wanted somewhere for my farewell fuck.

Showdown,

I can recommend you Citin Loft Pattaya. Although it's "not" close to Beach Road – about 10 to 15 minutes walking – it is new, has free wifi in the room and also free use of their two computers in the lobby, has an electronic safe inside the room and is girlfriendly.

I've stayed there last July in a Superior room. I've booked it a few months in advance, using their "Early Bird Promotion". I think I've payed something around 1169,- baht per night, including breakfast for two. A plus, at least for me it is, it's quiet in the streets around this hotel.

Citin Loft Pattaya is located between Soi 14 and Soi 12 of Pattaya Klang (= Central Road).

Followed up on a report here and it worked out really well.

Driver took long time to find it but at check in they actually say "there is no charge for bringing girl back" and they have condoms on the mini bar.

Room was comfy - big bed - all very clean and even had a bit of a sea view despite being behind 2nd Road.

The bus to 2nd road works fine but if you get to Avenue you can walk through in 2 mins.

So overall very enjoyable stay - just check their own website as it was cheaper direct than through Agoda.

If your a fan of Walking street area & will spend most of your nights there, Ibis is out of the way. But if you prefer north Pat & sois 1/8, then its ideal. Rates are really good + clean rooms etc.

Dear fellow mongers

I am fairly familiar with Pattaya hotels, but have always traveled there solo and will be going with a group fairly soon, and the profile of the group is a bit different than mine would be solo.

Basically, I'm looking for a few suggestions of places where we could have big private parties with 4 to 8 guys and at least that many, if not double, girls.

I also thought about renting a house but a bit hard to find a good one close by, and since different people are coming and going on different days hotel rooms probably work best. However, if anyone knows a great villa option please suggest! btw, the Secrets villa is already booked (checked months ago,) unfortunately.

Budget not really an issue. Ideal case would be connecting rooms with a sea view and nice balcony, and short baht bus ride to walking street (if not walking distance.)

Certainly highly GFE is a must.

Thanks in advance for any good suggestions!

only other request is some very group- accommodating hotels in the Walking Street or Beach Road area, since a) good to have options in case this is booked, and b) location would be better.

Stayed at Dynasty Inn on my last Pattaya trip a few months ago, same place I usually stay. I like it's location on Soi 13 since it is a pretty quiet Soi and not that much hassle walking up and down it, and easy access to the Beach and all fun within walking distance except Soi 6.

Paid 1,680 Baht for a room, looking at Popper's Hotel Guide this was probably too much. Totally girl friendly, no raised eye brows or anything no matter how many times I came back with girls.

For two girls there is an extra charge of 300 Baht, even if she doesn't sleep over.

Pretty much only mongerers stay there.

Get a room that faces away from the street since the Beer Bar across the street can be a bit loud if you want to sleep before 2am when it closes.

Room service is actually pretty decent and food not too expensive if you get hungry late at night. Try the spicy seafood salad, yummy.

We had this hotel overcharge discussion a while ago with the guy who promotes the Devil's Den and it's sister operation.

In Pattaya, of all places, this 'hotel sets the rules' nonsense is exposed by Popper's thread.

Hotel: Bay Breeze Hotel
Website: http://www.baybreezepattaya.com/
Dates of stay: Oct 12 - 16, 2010

This was my first stay at the Bay Breeze. I reserved a “standard room with balcony” for 800 Baht (US$27) per night. This was a low season rate.

I liked the location. It’s down Sai Song Soi 11 off of Pattaya 2nd Road. When I got off the BKK to Pattaya bus, the baht driver said he was familiar with the Bay Breeze. I even gave him the map that I had printed off the Bay Breeze’s website. I soon learned that he didn’t know where the Bay Breeze was located. He kept stopping at every hotel that had the name “Bay” in it and insisted that it was the Bay Breeze and I kept telling him “NO, WRONG HOTEL.” After the third time he stopped at the wrong hotel, I realized that Bay Breeze was only a block away so I gave him 20 Baht and decided to walk the distance since it would be quicker than having him drive down Beach Road and back up 2nd Road.

The hotel is in a fairly quiet location, i.e., no nearby go-go or beer bars blaring loud music. Soi LK with the Devil’s Den, Billabong and a number of other similar clubs is a short distance away. There are other go-go clubs and beer bars nearby, and the Walking Street is within walking distance. Across the 2nd Road, there’s Mike Shopping Mall and the modern Central Shopping Mall. Trying to walk across 2nd Road while dodging traffic can be a life and death adventure.

The street that the Bay Breeze Hotel is located (Soi 11) turns into Soi Honey and about 1/2 block down the street from the hotel is the Honey Body Massage Parlor. About three blocks away, Dream Teen Massage is on Soi 21 which runs between 3rd Road and Soi Buakaow. A little further down Soi 21 is P.P. Body Massage Parlor which is touted by taxi drivers since they pay a commission for customers.

My hotel room was small, but clean and comfortable. There’s 9 floors. I was on the 8th floor. The hotel has only one small elevator so it can be slow at times. If the elevator ever breaks down, there’s no alternative except to hoof it up and down the stairs.

The hotel does not offer free breakfast, but there is a restaurant in the hotel. I never ate there. Breakfast is also offered at a small restaurant across the street on Soi 11. If you want the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, the Apex Hotel and Diana Inn are a block or so away. Further down 2nd Road, the Lek Hotel has a breakfast buffet.

The hotel is girl-friendly.

There’s a dick-head who wears a baseball hat with “security” on it. When I checked-in, he grabbed my one bag to take it to my room. I tipped him 15 baht and he pissed and moaned that it wasn’t enough so I gave him 20 baht. He still pissed and moaned so I took 10 baht away. I told him that I needed the 10 baht. He grabbed my bag as I checked out to load it into the van, but I ignored him when he had his hand out for a tip.

The room had free Wi-Fi and I had no problem with access.

My only significant complaint is that the room had a safe, but it didn’t work (why I don’t know). I was told that I had to use the safe deposit box at the front desk. I saw other guests using them so I guess I wasn’t the only one who had a room safe that didn’t work.

The hotel has a swimming pool, but it’s located under an overhang so there is very little sun exposure if you want to sun bath.

The hotel has cable TV with limited English channels. Instead of CNN, it had FOX (or faux) News.

My room’s air conditioner got my room too cold at nights so I turned it off and opened the window. Since I was on the 8th floor, there was a breeze and the street noise didn’t keep me awake.

The hotel took my reservation without any pre-payment or credit card hold.

For the low season rate, I would stay here again. If you’re looking for a place that’s more expensive, cheaper, has better amenities or different location, your choices of hotels in Pattaya seems endless. Bay Breeze Hotel is a good option to consider.

For breakfast, the German steakhouse right opposite is perfect if you don't need it before 11am.

Hi guys,

My hotel I used up to now is having construction the next months, so I am looking for another place.

Like to stay close to some action, but want to have a quiet room (more or less).

Now I am looking at the LK Renaicance Superior room or the LK Metropole, both on Soi Diana.

Any Inputs? Which one is better? Metropole seems to have balconies, Rennaicance not.

Are they totally GF without joiner fee? Under 20 allowed (but 18+ of cause)?

Hope to get some info from you guys,

In the past I have stayed at Tims's Boutique Hotel, Whitehouse Condotel and last year I stayed at the Best Beach Hotel on Soi 5 (http://www.bestbeachpattaya.com/EN/IndexEn.html ), but unfortunately, when I enquired this year, I am told they are fully booked and can only offer me a Superior Twin Room, but its not really suitable, as I need a double room!

Can anyone suggest an alternative, of a similar hotel, along one of the Soi's except Soi 6?

My budget is appox B2,000 per night. I am planning to be there between 19 Dec through to 4 Jan

Is Pattaya really so busy that the hotel is telling me its fully booked?

Beautiful rooms with big beds and free minibar. 5 min walk to soi 6, 5 min to Walking st by baht bus, and you can check out the action on beach rd from your balcony. Very girl friendly, took 2 girls back a couple of time, the night security would even have a joke with me if I had a quiet night an came back empty handed!

Currently 2200 for seaview or 1700 for studio room. I had the deluxe seaview which is now 2700, but Im sure it was closer to 2200 when I stayed.

Michael
I have stayed at both the above and both are girl friendly. Renaissance is the newer of the 2 hotels and closer to 2nd road, I mainly stay here pool is small but very rarely busy. Jacuzzis in room and good beds, staff are also good.
When I was there a month ago I also checked out Sabai Empress this is newish and looks good but in a different area (soi6 vicinity)

May the force be with you

Areca is also OK but prior reports had the staff being a bit nasty (dunno myself, I usually go native and stay in the cheap places)

I'm going to be in Pattaya for 7 nights beginning January 11th, and wanted to get some feedback on a couple of hotel options I'm looking at. My wish list would be:

Under 3000 baht/night
Separate bath tub/shower stall
LCD/Plasma TV with VGA input
Pool
Tile/Wood floors (no carpet)

I'm a little undecided as to location, as this is my first time in Pattaya, but I would lean towards something closer to Walking street / Beer bars than Soi 6 I think.

From looking through the thread it seems that LK Renaissance would be a good choice, and they have rooms available for 3000/night which is fine, however I'm wondering if it's a little out of the way for a first visit (maybe a good thing?)

Another option is the Page10 Hotel (www.page10hotel.com) which I can't find any reviews of in the thread, but it looks like it would fit the bill and it advertises on the website as no joiner fee. It's available for 2530/night, and the location may be better? (between Beach Road and 2nd Road)

The last option I'm considering is a Super Deluxe in the Evergreen tower at Areca. This is available for 2050/night, and it looks like the only thing missing is the separate tub/shower.

I'd appreciate any feedback on the above choices, specifically concerning location, and if there are any other options you think I should consider just let me know.

Fritzy, the Whitehouse is a great choice in what I believe is the best location in Pattaya. It's an extremely easy walk to the services, shopping and restaurants of Second Road and a new mall 1 minute away from the hotel. It's also easy to walk to Beach Road and jump on a baht bus to Walking Street. Personally, I would not stay right at walking street. It's noisy and the hotels aren't very modern. I go there every night and it's incredibly easy to get there from the Whitehouse. If you want a huge room, check out the Whitehouse suites. Personally, I stay at their mid level rooms.

I had the deluxe seaview which is now 2700, but Im sure it was closer to 2200 when I stayed...Wanting to stay across from the beach, based on this report, and reading a a lot of other good reviews, I booked three nights in a Seaview Room, (on Agoda for $220+ us), at the Baboona Hotel. Upon arrival in a taxi from Bangkok with my GF at about 3:30pm, I checked in with no issues, and was taken up the lift by a bellman. We were shown to a very small room on the 2nd floor with two small twin beds. I immediately said that I could not stay in the room as I had booked a room with one large bed, as shown in the photos on the Agoda website. I'm 187cm tall and I like to sleep with my GF.

The bellman, a nice woman who showed us to the room, then called the front desk and they said basically, "sorry we don't have any other rooms for tonight, but we could move you to another room tomorrow."

After a bit of discussion, the front desk person did admit they had other rooms with big beds, "but you will have to pay more." I told her I had booked the room 10 days before and why was there not a reasonable room available for me.

She said my problem with the booking was with Agoda and not the hotel. I asked to speak with the manager and was told I could send an e-mail. I asked for the manager's mobile number and was told, "no." At that point I decided to just leave the hotel as I know in Thailand it is often impossible to creatively solve a problem like this.

At that point, I called my regular hotel up on Soi LK Metro and asked if they had any rooms. I was told, "no problem for a standard." After a combination of a baht bus and motorcycle taxis we were at the hotel, however we had to wait four hours for a deluxe room to be available due to a late checkout. Finally in a room at 8pm, we showered and went out to eat. Later, I canceled my credit card payment to Agoda for the Baboona.

Bad travel day. So much for my seaside holiday...!

Baboona Hotel : Three thumbs, and a limp dick, down...I stayed at the Baboona a few months back, and while I had no problems like yours, I saw nothing to recommend the hotel. My room was large, but with only one window looking out on a concrete wall no more than 1 metre away. Service was OK but hardly warm. I haven't gone back.

Conversely I am very impressed with Agoda. When I have had problems or needed to change my booking they have been consistently helpful, either by phone or email.

Soi 10 near 2d road, they're currently running a pay for 6 nights and get one free (1500 to 1800B per night) promo. You'll get better rates on Agoda if you you're planning on stay for less than a week. If you end up staying there, check out the bar beer complex at the intersection of Soi 10 and 2d road, they put on a pretty good show.

When I spoke with their representative, they immediately canceled the booking and said they would make a full refund. As I had already done this through my credit card company, it was unnecessary.

The lesson for the Baboona Hotel is that they should make an effort to keep customers happy. In this particular case, for the negligible cost of a one night room upgrade the hotel lost three night's revenue and received bad reviews in several online forums. Bad reviews by unhappy customers on Internet forums (e.g., TripAdvisor) do influence future customers.

I've been very happy with my stays at the Padadena Lodge on Soi LK Metro, and will continue to stay there. Now, only if I can move the beach over a few 100 meters...

I am coming to Pattaya and have a reservation at the Jasmine Mansion where I have stayed before. The rate is 650 bhat per night which I thought a bit high. I was hoping to find something nice for 500 bhat but I am reading reports from many people who are in a higher income bracket I think.

Anyone know of a nice clean place for around 500?

Stayed at the HR earlier this week. Despite its efforts to push family-oriented fun, I encountered no problems getting girls in. Dates must leave their I'd at the counter. Just be sure to book a double room. Agoda offered a relatively decent rate of about USD 100 per night including breakfast buffet. Not that the buffet will matter if you BF a gogo dancer. The ones I met weren't into breakfast. Rooms are a tad small, but mine had a nice beach view from the balcony.

Joked with a girl at the front desk about the "walk of shame" but she didn't even bat an eye. Said she's seen it all.

It is a jaunt from Walking Street, though public transit is frequent and plentiful at 15 baht per person each way.

' Secrets Pattaya. Scabies report taken down? Reality Bites?

Jan 01, 2011, 5:07 AM.

I made a review about Pattaya Secrets Hotel on 11/20/2010 and it was first published and then taken down immediately after a couple of days.

Over 40 days on, since the review and three attempts to report on secrets forum that got me banned from that pathetic forum, we are still suffering with the effects of scabies which we contracted from Secrets.

If anyone else has contracted scabies after staying in this rundown and unhygienic place then please make your voice heard and let the world know.

Below is my original report and I am going to try to post it again today as I have had the worst new year of my life because of this incident:

I have been a customer of Secrets for years. Moreover, I even met my girlfriend in their nightclub so I became a patron of their guesthouse.

This time, just 4 days through our 9 days of stay, both me and my girlfriend had suddenly developed a terrible rash. My girlfriend had it on her legs and hands although I was just fortunate to have it on my legs. One of the staff even giggled upon looking at us in that condition and they closed the case by handing us some talcum powder. Luckily, I stopped my girlfriend from using the talcum powder, cut short our stay and there was no refund for remaining 5 days either.

When the itchiness and the rash didn't vanish for two more days and just got worse, we had no choice but to visit the hospital and were diagnosed with Scabies.

Secrets is not what it used to be, yes, you might have heard this a few times by now but maybe the owner needs to concentrate more on cleanliness as maid services in this place are provided every 2 to 3 days whereas other hotels provide maid services daily!

Apart from being short changed from the Secrets Bar at least twice during our last stay, this time, they just pushed the limits by infecting us with scabies due to their carelessness and unhygienic surroundings. We stayed in the Superior Room priced at 995 Baht, not their cheapest range of Rooms. Way too over priced for such low class service and poor hygiene.

Scabies is hard to get rid off even after a month.

You have lost my business, Secrets!

That was my review.

Secrets is way overrated IMHO.

Secrets' "nightclub," if you can call it that, is just an ordinary bar with over priced drinks and a few very ordinary looking coyote dancers pestering customers for drinks while offering nothing in return. Seating is arranged so that it is difficult to watch the "shows," and the music is so loud you can't hear yourself think.

Secrets is the last place in Pattaya to have a drink and enjoy some entertainment, much less book a hotel room.

They've even opened up a small store next door selling t-shirts and hats. This shows you how commercial their interests are.

I also agree that the girls in their are nothing special, but they sure think they are!

Stuck up (marginal at best) girls, overpriced drinks, and poor customer service.

On my 1 trip in Pattaya I did stop into the bar or whatever you want to call it in Secrets and wasn't impressed. I didn't like the setup and the women are average at best. I do admit that I did look into the hotel on their website and decided against it. Goyave gave me some other options to look at like Vault, Galaxy Suites and Diamond Beach which I will look into further when I know for sure when I can go. If anyone can comment about these 3 hotels I have mention I would appreciate your reveiw or any other hotels you would reccomend in the Walking Street area.

Have read too many bad things about Secrets on here.I have not checked recently most of those places (I usually favor another establishment nowadays when I am in Pattaya that is not located in the Walking Street area) , but all these hotels should still be girl friendly (no joiner fee). Among those, my personal choice would probably be "The Vault", but I mentioned several other hotels because we don't always have the same taste (and that's a good thing) nor the same budget.

Thank you for this report, but Secrets isn't one of the places considered because I have read the hotel is very popular and you have to book early. Now that you have reported about Scabies I know to not even consider the option. I still havn't been given my vacation dated for this year and eagerly waiting.I haven't checked Secrets recently, and mentioned this place mainly because of its location and fame (and because it was not bad at least several years ago).

While I don't believe too much a second-hand report submitted by a newbie (Aussie Stu has not posted any "real" field report yet) about scabies at this place, I must say as a general advice that you should rather trust the information provided by ISG senior members with a history of valuable reports, therefore, as this place is not recommended by Daddy07 and Amjeck, it's probably wiser to avoid it.

As stated in a previous post, my personal choice among these hotels would be "The Vault", but you may find another hotel more convenient if, for instance, the location is your most important criteria (several hotels are located a bit more in the heart of the Walking Street area).

Does anyone have any experience with this hotel, either good or bad. Good reviews, close enough to beach and walking street. It's listed on the search for guest friendly hotels in Pattaya. I wanted something with a balcony and bay view and this place fits the bill for that.

Of the 2 or 3 is the one below on your eye? Cut and posted from another forum.

That sucks. I stayed there a few years back and liked it. Really comfortable beds and seemed very clean to me. I have really bad allergies to dust mites and mold and didn't have any problem there. Management seems really cool there. Larry is a good guy but from the sound of it they did not do a good job taking care of you after you brought this to their attention. Hopefully I will not have to scratch them off the possibility of places to stay. As far as the bar goes though I like it and I like some of their girls. Top spot for afternoons IMO. They had a crackin line up for afternoons last time I was there with Mon, Alis, Fim, and Joy. I think Joy is the only one left there now but I am srue there are some good replacements. Drink prices are high but not outrageous for an air con go-go. Nice place to get out of the heat and relax. I usually just get Lipo their and I think I pay 80 baht. Barfines are steep there though at 1000 before 12 I think. I really wish they would change that but I go there every trip to at least have a drink or two and get some grub as I like their food.

I haven't checked Secrets recently, and mentioned this place mainly because of its location and fame (and because it was not bad at least several years ago).

I believe Amjeck commented on the t-shirt shop not the bar. He said it was "too commercial," or something like that. Daddy's been in there one time (I know as I was with him and I asked him about his comment), and he didn't like it. That's his opinion based on his taste in going out, and I respect it as that. He's the hot go-go bar and “9+” girl expert.

However, I've been in there many times, had a lot of fun, and I've always been treated well. Sure, it is definitely run to make money for the owners, but I can deal with that, actually I respect a well run business. I don't mind loud music, and you can find good spots to watch the coyotes if you want. Bargirls ask for drinks in lots of places, why shouldn't they in Secrets. That's how they make money.

Personally, I prefer older, curvier, Thai women (25+) who like to really take care of a man, so many of the hostesses at Secrets are perfect for my tastes. I often find many coyotes and go-go girls to be in too much of a hurry to get to the next "tip."

As far as the Secrets Hotel scabies report, it is not unheard of for someone to post a false report. Do you believe everything you read on the internet? Any pictures of the nasty little scabies, or the host's bad rashes?

So, how about a real report from an ISG member who's stayed there recently?

I don't know why you quoted my previous report on this matter, because that's exactly what I did say. I wrote that I don't believe too much a second-hand report submitted by a newbie about scabies at this place.

I also said that as a general advice, one should rather trust the information provided by ISG senior members with a history of valuable reports (than a second-hand report posted by someone who has not yet submitted a real field report). Isn't it common sense?

Of course, recent reports about Secrets, especially if they are written by trusted members of this board, are welcome. I already stated that I haven't checked recently this place myself but that it was not bad, at least several years ago. But at the moment, we can only base our opinion on the few reports that are available here, and that's why I wrote (before you submitted your own report about Secrets) that it's probably (not "definitely") wiser to avoid this place. My opinion might change, especially if several other trusted ISG senior members start to post positive and recent reviews after having actually stayed there.

I quoted your post as that was the one that brought the discussion back into mind, prompting me to write mine. I wasn't responding to your post directly, as much as I was chiming in with my two bahts worth (not much, really) on the cumulative topic.

People can either go to Secrets and make up their own minds, or skip it and go to any of 3000+ other Pattaya bars. It really makes no difference to me. It's all about having a good time.

Hemp. I love a little known hotel called the Viking Hotel. Look it up online; I think you can just book without paying in advance. It is about a mile from the action though, on the main road Easterly out from Walking Street, toward Sukhumvit. It's worth it though, IMHO, because it is quiet and off the beaten path. Way inexpensive with a nice, clean pool, seldom used. Loads of cool rooms, old school thai-style. Wood floors, wood furniture, fans, some Aircon rooms. There is wifi internet. Check it out. Nice people, locals running it for an out of town Swede, I think. A motorbike rental right across the alley. Be sure to print a map / sketch for the Taxi guy. Most won't know this place, even though it is just on the edge of downtown Pattaya. Good luck.

I guess I'm staying in the old bit. I have a 'deluxe' room with pool view and balcony. Room is OK, but I hate the shower over bath thing. Minibar is well stocked. Wifi is OK but fairly slow. Air con is a bit savage and I haven't yet managed to figure out the best setting. I paid £240 for 7 nights, including breakfast. A bit over-priced in my opinion, but it is high season, and the hotel is pretty much full. I have low standards but breakfast is vile, and I usually head down to the Beergarden. Hotel mostly populated by large middle age couples, and a few large middle age men.

The Shrimp stayed with me for 4 days, then headed back to BKK leaving me 3 days of fun. No hassle from hotel staff. I have only brought one girl back and they wanted to see her I'd. There was some confusion over my existing guest until I explained that she had left. Otherwise I think there may have been a charge.

Would I return? Only if I could get a better price next time.

I am not sure if this fills your needs. I booked on-line but some 5-6 folks walked in and booked while I was with girls leaving IDs. It is on Second Road near The Avenue and behind the Mike Plaza that opens onto the Beach Road. There is no girl charge, unless you have more than one. They do hold her I'd and call when she leaves to make sure all is well. It is clean, has non-smoking rooms, and a nice roof top pool.

Reading more negatives than positives about Areca so will avoid. In my previous visits I always stayed around walking str. VC (shithole) & Nova but now I will stay around sois7/8 or Tops area. Budget 1500/1700, pool's a must. I shortlisted to Flipper lodge & August suites so will book in one of them.

I stayed one night at the Hard Rock Hotel and, although the hotel was OK, by this point in my vacation I was tired of paying joiner fees. This time the fee was 900 Baht and really my fault as should have done more research. The location is very good with easy access to the beach and within walking distance to all the action. They had some construction going on and I think they need this as the condition needs improving. My room seemed a bit small but the bathroom was OK with good water pressure. I didn't get to try the food.

I am polishing my light sabre for my next visit, the LK Renaissance hotel I normally use has put up it's prices by 800baht compared to what I paid in November last year. I have written to the following 3 hotels asking about their guest policy; Naris Arts, August suites and Nantra de boutique this was 3 days ago, none of them have replied so I suspect this means the guest policy is not favourable for our hobby. If anyone can tell me otherwise great, I have searched and found nothing. I am leaning towards the page 10 at the moment or LK Metropole where I have stayed before.

There was a report somewhere about scabies. Seems to me it takes weeks to develop, not days, and that body to body, not bedding is usual vector.

If you look up wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scabies And http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permethrin.

Mothers advice is correct: Stay away from ugly people and anything icky looking people. And oldies. Surround yourself with beautiful women.

Looking at timeframes. The blame may lie elsewhere, not the claimed establishment.

If I read correctly, a $2 can of fly spray kills on contact, so if paranoid or cautious, just spray a bit around, around bedding, the bed posts, and when leaving on bag / suitcase. As bedbugs are on the rise. DDT kills those suckers (easily gettable in Iraq as uncle sam uses it to control sand fleas). Your suitcase goes on the plane, baht bus, everywhere. Who knows what can attach to it. I stay in sub 700 bt and below places, and shared dorms, so I guess I got to be wary. Also cheap mosquito insurance. Many places mosquito proof the rooms, then allow the mossies into the bathroom.

Don't know what they call the tropical heat related rashes you can get, but I alternate medicated soap and coal tar soap, ensuring that I am very clean. Seems to keep everything at bay. Never have issues.

And if you wanted to know the most ikky germ infested thing: it is a woman's handbag.

Any other hotels I should consider? Are you really looking for 5 star? All of these are great hotels, but since most of us never stay in a 5 star, it will be hard to know if it is a guest friendly hotel. You can get a nice hotel further down the beach near walking street for 1/3 the price of these hotels.

Look at the Residence Garden. They have a coupon at the flb website for 1450 bt per night. It is not 5 star, but very good quality. Unless you are wildly rich, look for something cheaper. The cheaper hotels are all guest friendly, no joiner's fee, most have pools, decent breakfast, good TV, FREE internet. Etc. The big hotels add a joiner's fee and charge a fortune for WIFI.

The joiners fee is to discourage a little fun, but standing in the lobby in their 5 star hotel with its crystal chandelier and everyone looking at you and the 19 year old babe in the hooker outfit is just not fun.

If price is no problem and you don't embarrass easily, I would say the Dusit Thani is fantastic. It is easy to catch a Baht bus on the corner outside the hotel too.

http://www.jasminehotel-pattaya.com

Jan 20th. Feb 6th.

Deluxe Room on the 2nd floor.

Cost : 850 baht. 10% discount: 765 baht per night.

Pros:
Great location near Walking street.
Good value.
Very guest friendly. No joiner fees.
Excellent FREE Wifi.
Low noise levels.
Quiet aircon.
Good comfortable bed.
Friendly staff.
No deposit needed when booking.

Cons:
No in room phone.
No bar.
No restaurant.
No decent nearby breakfast buffet.
Useless indoor pool.
Room a little basic.

I stayed in the Jasmine for 17 nights from Jan 20th to Feb 6th, and I was pleased with the hotel overall. If you plan to spend a lot of time around Walking street then it's a winner, and I found it an easy stroll back with freelancers both from Walking street and the Beach road.

The only real difference between Deluxe rooms and Superior rooms is that Superior have a balcony, but many of these Balconies don't have a view, and as I couldn't get a balcony with a view I opted for the Deluxe room. Make sure to ask for discount, as they give it If you stay more than a week. I got 10%, and so ended up paying 765 baht per night.

I also checked out the Superior plus rooms on the 5th floor that cost 1300 baht per night, and I might have thought about upgrading but they were all booked out. They are nicer than the cheaper rooms of course, and I might consider them next time.

I was very impressed with the Free Wifi, there are no passwords, you just connect your device and its worked perfectly all over the hotel, all the time. It's the Best hotel Wifi I have ever encountered in any hotel anywhere. Also I use the wifi a lot, as I like to surf the net on my iPhone in bed.

The overall security of the hotel is good, and I didn't have any problems at all. The girls are required to leave their I'd card at reception where the reception staff scan it. Since there are no phones in the rooms, when a girl leaves she just collects her I'd card, and there is no way for reception to know if you are happy or not. Again I had no problems.

The safes are in the computer room near reception with the 2 house computers. You are given a key, and when you want to open the safe you must get the receptionist to also open the safe with a second key at the same time. She then takes her key and walks away. Inside the safe, you have a box that you can also lock with your own padlock if you wish. I didn't opt for this and I didn't have any problems.

If you lose the key to safe, there is a 1000 baht fine for a new key. I decided to keep the key on a shoe lace around my neck, and I also kept a key for a locker in the room also on the lace around my neck. I kept my laptop in the locker in the room.

There are also bigger safes downstairs, big enough for a laptop and more but I didn't use them.

I had a room on the 2nd floor near the back, and it was impressively quiet. You could hear a faint bass sound from one of the nearby clubs from 11pm to about 4 am but it certainly didn't stop me sleeping.

The bed was comfortable but the I thought the old blanket was a bit dated, and some sort of light duvet would be more acceptable. As had been reported the towels are old and a bit hard, but they are not as bad as I thought they would be. The shower is a bit basic but the water was hot all of the time. Also they could have a little more furniture in the rooms.

When booking the room, you don't need to send a booking deposit.

The downsides of the Jasmine are:

No restaurant or bar. They used to have a restaurant and bar, but gave up this service, and have put that useless indoor pool in the bar area. So its just bedrooms only now, and If they had a restaurant I'm sure I would have used it. There are no cheap buffet breakfast options nearby, and I used to sometimes go to the buffet at the Apex Hotel on 2nd road, when I was up in time to make their 1. 30 pm deadline.

The swimming pool in the Jasmine is a joke, too cold and too small.

Verdict: I would recommend the Jasmine overall, for the location, the price and the helpful staff.

Thanks for the heads up Hillp44. I have taken showers in probably worse situations maybe they fixed it by now. As far as there are alot of families being there, giving that it is a stones throw from walking street I would imagine that I won't be the only Monger in the hotel as well as what do the families expect being so close to one of the worlds most famous red light districts. I question the parents judgement of their hotel they choose.

BeaverhunterNot exactly a stones' throw from the Walking Street. You might find the girls needing a taxi. Definitely is a stones' throw from the beach and all the free lancers. Not sure how many Mongers you will run into. The ones I ran into were really pissed. They had their wives and kids with them. They were questioning their own judgment.

BeaverhunterThis is a good point!

Have you ever been in the Amsterdam's RLD? There is a tourist line up through the alleys, with families.

I reckon walking street and other similar areas in Thailand are far better "clean".

I think it was 1890 Bhat (not inc. Breakfast.)

But, if you buy some card from them for 375 Baht it gives "some" discount at this and other group hotels in Pattaya. So if you stay 3 days or more it saves you money!

Oh yes, the card is valid for 2 years (they say!)

I just thought it looked rather good, as it is so new, so would try.

Sorry, can not tell you much more but will post a short report after my stay.

having studied this thread at length, i'm still not clear about where to stay in pattaya, so does anybody have any recommendations for hotels (or possibly 'apartment-hotels') which meet the following criteria (in order of importance) :

- clean (!)

- girl friendly for up to 2 girls (but don't mind paying joiner's fees, unless they are unreasonable!)

- up to 3000 baht per night.

- ideally somewhere where the rooms are not too small. a suite or studio would be a bonus, but again it's not essential

- not too noisy.

- not too far from the action (say 15 mins walk, or alternatively a short ride)

- reasonable tv (possibly flatscreen?) and choice of channels.

- reasonable internet speed.

- preferably with a pool and gym, although these are not essential.

- not really bothered about room service or a restaurant.

i was going to add 'not normally full of guests who are a-holes' (yes, i know this can't be guaranteed, but hopefully you know what i mean!)

many thanks in advance. oh yes, forgot to mention that this is for a short stay only (one week).

Online research only. Haven't stayed at any of these places:

August Suites. 2d Road. at Central Road, just south of the Hard Rock. Executive suite looks big, with contemporary decor and white marble floors. Refrigerators in rooms, but no kitchenette or wet bar. Internet rate is 3,600 for a city view PLUS service charge and VAT.

April Suites, next door to August Suites & under same ownership. Same room types, so executive suite is the way to go. However, here it's smaller and no kitchenette or wet bar.

Tim Boutique Hotel. 2d Road at Soi 14. Excellent location, and 650 sq ft executive suite has kitchenette and separate seating area. Extra charge for internet? Unknown.

Pattaya Resort, behind shopping center next door to Dusit D2, or just east of 2d Road and Soi 13. Deluxe room looks nice, at a high season rate of 2,138 per night (including DSL and all taxes).

Eastiny Inn on Soi 7 between Beach Road and 2d Road. Looks to be just south of the Hard Rock complex. Walk to Soi 6! Crummy web site, but junior suite looks like a decent value at 2,650 in high season, including service charge, VAT and breakfast.

Just stayed again at my normal hotel, everything OK apart from a major change, the forum is now blocked at the hotel on their Wifi message comes up "403 forbidden" every time you try and load the page. I also tried going through my company VPN and that was blocked also but not sure if our IT guys set that up.

One thing good about the LK when I had a regular girl they would let her up alone, however as soon as I started butterflying they spotted it and wouldn't let her up unless I okayed it.

If you search previous posts, you'll see lots of positive recommendations for the LK Renaissance. The location is very good, whether you fancy hanging out on Soi LK Metro, Soi 6, Beach Road or Walking Street. There are ton of photos of the rooms on their web site, which should give you a feel for the place. Looks like both the Deluxe Room and the One Bedroom Suite both come with kitchenettes. The suite looks to be very large and at least in the photos it looks like it might have a balcony. (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.) I personally do not like the overstuffed Victorian decor. But I know many punters do.

Looks like a high season stay at the end of 2011 or the start of 2012 will set you back 3100 baht per night for the deluxe room, and 3900 baht per night for the one bedroom suite. The web site says that includes all taxes and service charges. But I can't tell if there is an extra charge for wi-fi. Also, I don't know if the LK Renaissance has a restaurant, so no idea if breakfast is available. There are plenty of places to find breakfast around there, including the excellent buffet at the Apex hotel.

So a friend and myself will be making the trip to Pattaya in June / July for the first time. I've been studying this thread and haven't been able to find the answer to my question. Hoping some of you guys can help me out.

Is there anywhere I can stay close (walking distance) to walking street and the action, that has a beach view. Doesn't have to be on the beach, but I'd love to have a view of the water. If so, could I do it for around 1, 500 baht?

Where would you guys stay if you were looking for a place like this in the 1, 000 to 1, 500 range. Must be girl friendly and no joiner fees.

Thank you in advance for you're wisdom on this matter.

Hi David2,

The restaurant in the LK is very good, had room service a couple of times and it was very reasonable. I had a suite whilst I was there for a couple of nights then a deluxe room and finally a studio. The suites are too big, the deluxe rooms are nice but not worth the extra cost as opposed to a studio room. I would probably prefer a studio room irrespective of costs, I checked out some other hotels during my stay, found the Chada thai which is in the same area this looks good and much cheaper.

On the Bell travel bus from Bangkok got talking to a yank who always stays at the VM terrace on soi buckhao, he has been going there for years.

May the force be with you.

BigJSo the answer is that there is no easy answer.

Why stay within walking distance of Walking Street? There is plenty of action everywhere. But if you must be within walking distance you're talking, what, half a mile?

The only hotels with a good sea view are along Beach rRad, and only those with rooms that face the sea.

So you're limited to a strip about half a mile long (where actually there aren't many hotels) , looking for one with a sea view, for under 1500 bht.

Pretty unlikely in my opinion. But there probably is one.

If so, could I do it for around 1500 baht?If you've never been to Pattaya before, you probably don't understand how small it is. You can stay at a hotel with a beach view that's at the north end of town and get to Walking Street on the baht bus in about ten minutes. And that's when traffic is at it's worst. Unless you're a shuffling old geezer, you can easily walk from, say, Soi 6 and Beach Road to the heart of Walking Street. (While leering at the Coconut Bar freelancers along the way.)

I recommend reading the traffic in this thread going back a year or so. You'll see lots of hotels in your price range. Then use your favorite search engine to see the proximity to the beach. Eventually you'll find a good hotel. Agoda has a pretty good map feature. And it's never to early to book your stay for the upcoming high season.

As many have already told you and since many aren't giving you your answer the chances for 1500 is slim and none but never say never!

You want a beach view, the question is do you just want to stand at your window and just look or most likely you want to really enjoy it and that is with a small balcony or a chair or table. If you start at North Pattaya top of Beach road working your way down for 1500 baht unlikely, getting to Central there might be one or two and sorry I can't remember the names right now you might but there is no such thing when you check in that you won't get the bait and switch.

The Baywalk is near WS, but to get a beach view you have to pay for a suite, even a small one is over 1500 baht, and although the location fits your MO, there has been report nagative ones for the price. Depending on when you are coming. This weekend for checking is bad since it is freaking cold here and there is heavy traffic on Beach road due to the Music festival.

You might give View Talay 6 condo a try since it is located on Soi 9/1 and 5 minutes or so on the Baht bus to, you can give them a try and see what they have small facing the beach, 24/28 Sq/Meter studio....

Thanks for the input guys, I've been reading up on this thread trying to get a feel for where I might stay. Another question I have would be has anyone ever booked a vacation home / apartment / condo? I found quite a few nice ones, but I can't help but wonder if they are GF? My main problem is not being familiar with the area, so when I look at a map I'm not really sure how far way I actually am from the action. Anyway the search goes on, still taking input if you have any to offer. Thanks again for the help, BigJake

Can anyone tell me if the Holiday Inn in Pattaya is GF. This will be my first time out to BKK & Pattaya & was hoping to use free hotel nights but if the joining fees are too high then I might try another hotel metioned in the forums.

Thanks again for the help, BigJakeGo to Page 18, report by Johnthescot, regarding the View Talay 6 Condos, this place is centrally located in the middle between Beach and 2nd Road. You can walk out and catch and get off the baht bus on either side and next door to Central Festival shopping center. You can eat expensive on floors 5/6 or cheaper in Basement which also has a super market Also your exit on 2nd road across the street and little to the right is Soi Diana which leads you to LK Metro or Soi Buakhao area ( Devil Den ) The condo in my opinion is centrally located to 90% of the action in Pattaya, excluding Jomtien Beach and the Darkside.

Good luck and stop thinking about location and move on to your next agenda which is the ladies?

Pattaya is about 50% cheaper on average than Bangkok. On average, the quality is about the same, but in my humble opinion, the best looking girls are in working in the higher-end places of Bangkok. You can check both places, it's not a bad idea.

Thanks" I have stayed here 4 times in the last year and every time it was GF. Due to it being a new hotel, the rooms are clean and modern. The swimming pool is also very nice and it overlooks the ocean. Every room has a sweet balcony and it is pretty quiet at night because it is on the north end of town. Also you have a Gulliver's directly next door for pool and sports. In terms of your second question; there are good and bad girls everywhere. Pattaya seems to have a denser population of them, where Bangkok is more spread out. Depending on how much time you have you need to think of whether it is worth the time to pop back and forth. In my opinion, better opportunities arrive if you stay in one place."

Queen Victoria On Soi 6. If you interested in girls rated between 2 and 4 out of 10 this could be the place for you. It's a short time street and full of low grade girls.

Secrets. Much more chance of finding higher grade girls here. Possibly 6 to 8. The Walking Street is a big attraction.

But if you're patient, and you check out all the bars, you can usually find a hottie. I am *VERY* particular about looks. But with some effort I can always find a Soi 6 girl I think is attractive. In my experience the selection on Soi 6 is best in the late afternoon and early evening. It's a great place for a post-lunch quickie in advance of your afternoon nap prior to a late evening on Walking Street.

As for the Queen Victoria, it's a British style pub with rooms on the premises. I have not stayed there, but online reports indicate the rooms are rather basic. I prefer nicer accommodations somewhat removed from the action. So I'll give the Queen Victoria a pass. If I had to choose among the three, I'd go with Secrets. With a little effort you can find another board sponsored by Secrets, with lots of photos and reviews of that hotel and the associated club.

BunkyI stayed in both of these hotels during my last trip over a year ago. Both were basic and clean; both had free wifi, iirc; I would stay at them again unless I want to try other places. I don't think Secrets is much better than Queen Vic. The Secrets room was just a little bigger, that's about it. Had 4 nights in Patts that time so 2 nights in Queen Vic to check out Soi's 6, 7 and 8 (also the beer bar at the end of Soi 5 across from McD's was fun too) ; then 2 nights in Secrets to check out Walking Street. Both places good rooms are on the higher floors so you got to walk up those stairs.

One tip: the cheapest rooms in both of these places are always fully booked, not going to get them if you are walking in that day. So if budget is important to you, book the cheap rooms in advance if you can. Or go somewhere else where cheap can be had that day.

One more tip: Queen Vic has a penthouse suite on the top floor which is quite spacious and includes a jacuzzi tub. Last year I think the room was normally 2100b / night, but they gave it to me for a discount because the jacuzzi was broken and all their other rooms were booked. That was a decent room though not my budget. The 2nd night I moved into a cheaper room downstairs.

Hotman. Despite your experience, I booked this hotel through Agoda. I figured that way I would have hard evidence of a paid-for booking.

I paid about £40 per night, which is a little more than I normally pay. The hotel is new so the price will rise quickly I'm sure.

First impressions: rooms superb. Large, modern, with separate bathroom with large walk-in shower, plus bath and wc. Balcony, minibar, TV, etc. Rooftop swimming pool which closes at 7pm, just as I return from my 1 hour run. No free water, no breakfast included. Great location.

I'm assuming gf, but last night I slept alone so can't confirm.

They write :

We are GF and there is no joiner fee. But 300 Baht for overnight guest.

I have booked a room for 2 people so would take strong exception to being charged a joiner fee. I check out tomorrow so I'll let you know if the issue arises.

I just recently decided to spend the Christmas / New Year's holiday in Pattaya. I realize it's peak season and the place will be packed. Is it too early to book a hotel room now?

I tried to price a room at a couple of places mentioned in this thread and they came back as "dates not available". I can't tell if that's because they're really booked this far advance or if they just haven't released rooms for those dates yet.

Stayed at the Billabong for three nights earlier in the week. Had a ringside seat for the outdoor Songkran party at the Office a Go-Go. Big fun, lots of wet ladies letting their hair hang down.

Their basic room was a little worn, but adequate (650 baht night). Food is good at the Billabong, great 100 baht breakfast. Their bar ladies looks are so-so, but they are friendly bunch. Wi-fi was a bit erratic. At check out, they tried to charge me for a mini-bar beer that I did not drink. After some discussion I did not pay. I think the maid must have pinched it. I might stay here again.

After a three-day trip upcountry, I'm now over at Pasadena Lodge for a couple of nights. Mid level room (1200 baht) is comfortable & quiet. I've stayed here many times and have always been pleased. This is a good hotel for the money. No restaurant or bar. The big rooms in the front (more expensive) can be noisy late into the night.

Just ate at a little Thai restaurant on Soi Buakhao (across from Good Day Massage, next to gold shop). Great chicken rice for 30 baht.

Spent time at Champagne a-Go-Go last night. It's a fun bar with friendly ladies (if you buy them drinks). I had three of them 2/3rds drunk and wrapped around me. Their night shift girls (after about 9pm) are hot. Happy hour from 2pm to 9pm. Well drinks & beer 65 baht. With a couple of exceptions, the early dancers are not very pretty.

Anyone had any experience at the Furama Jomtien? Agoda did have a guest review by a fellow from India who said it was not guest-friendly, but who knows whether he booked for two guests or used the right approach. I find it hard to believe a hotel in patts can survive not being gf. This hotel is new and has great rates on agoda, though is apparently a 15 ride from the action.

Don't waste your time and why consider the 15 minute ride to the action? This might be a lot longer if they havn't fixed the road yet.

I can't tell if that's because they're really booked this far advance or if they just haven't released rooms for those dates yet.I ran into this problem as well. There are several workarounds. Try booking via the hotel's website, if they have one. Sometimes the room inventory is more expansive than what they release to the consolidators. If that doesn't work, try e-mailing the hotel directly. Be specific about the room type you want and your dates. Be prepared to put down a deposit. This worked for me booking a suite at the Whitehouse Condotel almost a year in advance. You'll probably have to pay the rack rate, or close to it. But that's the price you pay for a high season holiday.

Finally, keep looking on the hotel booking web sites. Lately I've been seeing more rooms open up in December. For example, using the Booking dot com web site I plugged in a 30 day stay starting in mid-December. Got 43 hits.

This hotel chain is reliably 4+ star and w / breakfast included would be much less than half the price of a comparable place, so the ride might be worth it. If I get any warnings on the GF issue, though, all bets are off. I know ISGers have many different ideas on the issue of accomodations. I like nicer places, and the girls who give the GFE like a better hotel, too. Last trip to patts I stayed at the Hard Rock, which has a great pool area. It was GF despite uptight guards and a "family" atmosphere. Now it just appears to cost double the price of Furama. Adds up over six nights. Thanks again.

Visiting in early October and wondered where to stay. I'd like to be in a quiet hotel, pretty close to the action, with a tub for under 2k baht per night with free internet.

Any thoughts?

http://page10hotel.com/

This is a new hotel that opened in the fall of 2010.

It's located on the north side of Soi 10, just west of Second Road. That's a pretty good location in central Pattaya, with easy access to Beach Road and a short walk to the scene on Soi Diana and Soi LK. You could also walk to the beer bars on Sois 7 and 8. And Soi 6 could be reached via the baht bus in minutes.

Not many photos of the rooms on the hotel web site. But what they do show looks nice. The reviews on the Tripadvisor web site are mixed. Some say it's a nice place and a decent value. Others say it's poorly constructed and the noise from nearby bars makes it tough to sleep.

Do any of you guys have an opinion on this place? I'm particularly interested in the top floor suite, which they bill as "Suite 808." I'm a sucker for a nice suite in a high rise location, and Suite 808 seems to fit the bill with lots of room to spread out and a terrace. If anybody's stayed in Suite 808 I'd appreciate a report.

There is one entrance door which is some way from the reception desk, so you can just stroll through with your girl straight to the lift and not be noticed if you want to. Alternatively you can go through the main door if you want the girl to leave her ID.

(I wish Jackson would fix this ID : I'd correction)

- AC did not work right. No thermostat. Either too hot or too cold. My GF got sick. They could not fix it.

- Construction appears to be done by blind illegal workers from Easter Island. The worst I've seen in a new Thai hotel.

- Staff was unresponsive to most requests.

The bed was nice, though. Good luck.

May the force be with you. I had that problem while I was mongering in November, seems some of the Thai ISP's are blocking Sex sites that pertain to Thais. I use scoobynet. Com as a free proxy server to surf out. I have a list of paid subscription ones that are better but you pay. I will try my update list when I go back for holiday at the end of August.

Enjoy.

Got clued to Chada Thai from SkyWanker's post. I'm staying there now for a few days, and so far so good.

Hotel is family-run, and only a five months old according to the receptionist. Prolly true, most furnishing are new and quite solid by Thai standards. Clean room, all the basic amenities there.

Minibar (fridge) is there but empty, no biggie for me since I seldom use minibars. Great bathroom, even if it is smaller than I am used to at LK Renaissance, but since I'm paying 1370 a night compared to nearly double at LK, I think it is acceptable.

The most important part: Had a girl with me last night, and no problem at all. Just left her I'd at reception.

Area is quiet, since most bars are further up the street (Soi 14, off Second Road). Chada is at the end of the same road as Tim Boutique, and the surroundings are not the most glamorous, but I guess that is true of most of Pattaya.

Staff very friendly, got some fruit on arrival, and was offered a tour of town, but I can feel that they are trying a bit too hard. Can't blaim them though, they started recently and are naturally desperate to create a buzz / start things going.

So all in all: go for it, if you want a good budget option, that still has the new feel.

/D.

My personal view is that I need to spend at least 1000 Bht in Pattaya to have an acceptable hotel room, but of course everyone will have their own standards.

Not even a mention on Popper's hotel thread.

However, I have have found perfectly adequate accom in Pattaya for under 1000bt. I suppose it depends on your definition of 'adequate'.

If it's clean, secure, wifi, room to swing a cat and in a decent location, it's adequate in my book.

I have stayed at hotels that charge way over 1000bt only to discover I have paid for services I did not require.

Pool, room service, gym, conference rooms. Etc.

Of course I understand that 'a sea view' will push up the price over 1000bt, but will gladly pay for a this 'extra'.

In the middle of Walking Street, busiest middle bit, where there is a walthrough to clubs, upstairs I noticed cheap rooms for rent. But it would have to be the noisiest place imaginable.

Sorry 1000 bt is a bit rich. I found Soi Yen Sabai 3 up near Third st, Pattaya Cantina a safe bet at around the 700 mark. But near identical places / buildings all around it for around the 450 mark without the friendly proven reception and reputation of above. I presume the cost should be higher, but market supply / demand means they have to take whats on offer. For High December a real option if 'walking' is not something you are into.

Must be cheap / value area because 3 busloads of Indians had meals / accom package deals practically opposite.

There are some interesting ex-pat restaurants that gourmet people should check out. Not so cheap. It has the makings of a future posh area, but not now. Its a new area and 9/10 mototaxi drivers don't know the street and need directions. And if the arab st becomes less arabish. It brings down the tone of the neighborhood.

Ok the location towards Bali Hai is NOT hot, and a big hike on foot from WS. But the rooms are big, newish, no complaints. But towards the end of my last trip, I found bhtbus going to Bali Hai passed close by along 3rd road. Arrgh if only I knew! So if WS beach becomes pricey, especially around Christmas / NY, check out the complete unknowns around this area. Lots of empty apartments around here too, so I guess deals can be done.

I an American who lives and works as an educator in Japan, so I am lucky to get to spend about 2 months a year in Thailand while on school breaks. I always stay at the Pattaya Bay Resort, and can highly recommend it. Off season they have great weekly and monthly rates, the room service has the exact same prices as if you went upstairs (and is pretty tasty as well) , and they are VERY guest friendly. The staff always takes their I'd's, and gives you a call to make sure everything is cool before they hand it back.

The hotel itself is located right behind The Avenues Shopping Center, which has a Starbucks, Supermarket and many other places you might like to check out when not mongering. Also, they just added a 7-11 right next to the place, so 24/7 goodies as well.

After seeing the LK maid thief video (very sorry it happened to you, very happy you posted it) I would like to add that I have NEVER had an incident myself, but I always keep things of value locked up in the in room safe or inside my bag. I also tip 100 baht a day and they tend to give me extra water and towels and excellent service.

They also have a Tuk Tuk that can run you down to second road, cutting your walk to Walking Street down a lot and also can run you to Soi Bukuwa (excuse the spelling, I know it is not even close) If you get a phone or sim card, you can call the hotel and they will come pick you up as well if you want to save on the price of a moto taxi.

Will be their from July 29 to September 2, so if any of you guys in town, let me know.

I will consider this hotel for my first visit this summer to Pattaya. I was reviewing their overnight guest policy for those interested and it say's the following in there FAQs:

Q: Are you joiner / over-night guest friendly?

A: Yes, all joiners or over-night guests are always welcome with a smile by all of our staff.

Q: Is there an additional charge for joiners / over-night guests?

A: All of our rates quoted are for 1 or 2 persons sharing the same room. Therefore, if a single guest brings back a joiner, there is no additional fee. If you have a third person in the room, there is an additional charge of 500 baht per person, per night.

Going to Bangkok soon, actually first time I have extra time to stay there and to taste the nightlife there.

I was going to book a room in Citadines Sukhumvit 8 because of one recommendation I got from an old friend.

What do you guys think about this, is it a good place to stay? The price seems to be ok and the room pictures nice and of course free internet is always a plus. I think that you should post this in the Bangkok Hotel Thread instead of the Pattaya Hotel Thread

I think the Pattaya Bay Resort is located in a good area and a short walk to many things. The Tuk Tuk service is free and is offered as an amenity to guests because the hotel is off of the beaten track. Many hotels in Pattaya offer similar service if their location is seen as a disadvantage by prospective guests.

As always in Thailand, tips to the driver are greatly appreciated and graciously accepted.

Ok I am here at Baywalk now as I type. Hotel and accomadations are fine. Only problem I had encountered was at check-in, they wanted to stick me in a room with 2 singled beds and told me to just put them together at night to make 1 big bed. I basically told them they were nuts and to just keep looking for a room with a bigger bed and of course they found one. Free wifi in the room, internet in lobby which you have to pay. Shower and hot water is fine no problems. If your a smoker, I would advise to get a room with a balcony cause I am almost positive they don't allow smoking in the rooms. Other than at check-in they have been accomadating to me, but they do not take or photo copy they girls I'd when going into your room. So be careful when bring girls back!

Hope this helps some of you. Beaverhunter

I basically told them they were nuts and to just keep looking for a room with a bigger bed and of course they found one.I hate it when they do that. I had a problem with a Pattaya lodging, the Baboona Beach Hotel, last Fall. I had booked a double room for three nights and when they did the "put the beds together" act, I refused and demanded a big bed. After the rude desk clerk told me a few times that they had none, she said they did, but would have to charge me more than I had already prepaid through Agoda. I walked out, and stopped payment on my credit card for the room, and immediately called Agoda to explain the problem.

Later on, the Baboona Beach Hotel lied and told Agoda that I stayed there for the three nights, so my credit card was charged again. I fought it and got my money back. Probably took me more than an hour for phone calls to the credit card company, to write the letter, find the e-mail trail, etc. It's the principle, right, and the 7500 baht!

Buyer beware:

I hate it when they do that.

Buyer beware:

http://www.baboonabeach.com/Wow, I was planning on staying there in September, do you know if all the beds are 2 singles thrown together?

Has anybody stayed at 'Mike's Beach Resort'?

Tried using the search facility on this forum, but no results.

Google has provided some information, but not enough.

Any info from you lovely chaps would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Thank you in advanceS.

I haven't stay there myself but recently visited a friend and saw the setup. It is located behind the Avenue shopping center which is on 2nd Road. You can walk to Soi Buakhao or to second road unless you are one that just can't walk. Because it is off the main road the evening I went by it was very quiet. The staff were very polite and I believe they offered a free breakfast and guest on the roof restaurant with your stay. The room I saw was large and setup nicely and had free wifi in the room and girlfriendly.

My friend stays there in the low season and move during the high because of the price difference but if given the choice he would like to stay even in the high season. Located in a good location that you can get to transportation without a problem.

Good luck, LBM

Google diana-oasis, Pattaya. You will love the place. Will soon report more. Just moved from another hotel over to Oasis on advise of a fellow traveler. Right where the action is, very good value for my weak US$ and very friendly staff. No trouble bringing visitors of any kind day & night. Love the place so far and will report later. Just getting ready with a couple of fellow mongers to hit the bars in Soi LK! Low season and tons of talent around. By the way, Secrets is noisy and overrated and in the middle of the Walking Str. Rip-off action, about LK Metropole there is some nasty stuff on Youtube. Tons of empty hotels, as always in Pattaya. No problem to find a room anytime and for any budget. Life is great. Jackyboy.

Thanks for the info, only issue, is that this place is cash only, prefer something that takes credit cards.

Guys. Never been to Pattaya and have decided to come downfrom BKK tomorrow. Looking for a good place to stay reasonably close to action but not so on top of it that thumping music at night will keep me awake. Midrange price (up to 1500) pool would be nice. Enjoy walking places. Into nightlife scene, to beach, etc. Can my requirements be met? Have searched quite a bit but not yet clear enough about which places make sense inthese terms (ESP. Not being so much in the thick of nightlife that I cannot escape it in my room). Thanks for any tips.

Thank you in advancePattaya Bay Resort is an ok place to stay. It's located right behind "The Ave" so easy for shopping and food. The Hotel is ok. Rooms are ok. And not expensive. Guest friendly, wifi and have tuc tuc to drive you to 2nd road if you don't want to cut through "The Ave". It's located on a quiet road at night and not the safest sometimes, but if you cut through the back entrance of "The Ave" you can avoid all of that.

I have searched the thread, but haven't really found a yes or no answer to whether the Holiday Inn is in fact GF or not, does anyone know?

Also this will be my first trip to Pattaya, have been visiting BKK for years, but never hard the time for Pattaya, is the Holiday Inn located in a conveniant location for access to everything?

ThanksYou can e-mail the Holiday Inn in Pattaya and just ask them and they will tell you. They get e-mails like that all the time so it's normal. It's Pattaya. I used to e-mail every hotel before I booked to see if they were GF friendly or not and all kindly responded. As for location, it's close to the beach and beach road in North Pattaya. Easy access because you can hop on the Baht Bus and go to all the nightlife. I do know the Holiday Inn is a new place and pretty pricey and geared more towards families.

I wrote a lukewarm review of the staff at this hotel last year and their attempted minibar scam. But I did love the room. I stayed there again with a good promo through wotif. Com about a month ago (1200 bt?) and the room would easily get 2, 000 bt in BKK.

I got an email from them on a 20% off deal booking through their own website.

http://www.oamhotels.com/novagold/?promocode=20PERCENT&utm_source=eflyer&utm_medium=b2c&utm_content=booknow&utm_campaign=WGP_booknow_discount

It is guest friendly.

The room is clean, quiet, well decorated.

The location is a 5 minute walk to soi 6.

They claim to have tuk tuk service but it was out of service a month ago.

Becoming spoiled by real comfort. I'd stay again.

Thanks for your assistance. I can't tell you exactly if " Everything " is closed? In Pattaya, I don't think " Everything " will ever be closed? There is always options and something open. Even when they are suppose to be close they have the lights out and glasses are replaced with paper cups?

At the LK you should have no problem finding something open?

And it's an awesome hotel! Really nice rooms with see through shower from the bed area.

I stayed there for three night about a week ago & all they require is the girls I'd when you first come in. Restaurant, pool, lobby all excellent! I will stay there again, especially as I used points & it didn't cost me a penny!

It is however at the other end of the beach to walking street so if you intent on bringing multiple girls back over the course of a night, it might not be the best bet. But it's not far from Soi 6 so you could bring a couple from there back for ST fun, then head out to the discos to find that one lady for LT.

Hope this helps. Enjoy!

EB.Yes, rooms are very nice but just a little boring for me and the location is not great. I found all the families rather off putting. Not an ideal situation for a mongerer to be picking up his key and some kid asking his mum and dad what that old man is going to do with that young Thai girl. Lots of Arabs all dressed in their traditional dress were also there. Now, maybe I did something wrong, but I had to pay 1,000 Baht joiner fees. Great for wife and kids and certainly not cheap.

I am heading to Pattaya for a week stay the first week of July. I just found out (actually forgot) that I can get a free room with my points. I have available the following: Frasier Resort Pattaya, Garden Cliff Resort and Spa, Hotel Vista Pattaya, Pattaya Discover Beach Hotel, Sunbeam Hotel and the Hard Rock. I will be meeting a friend there which she we just hang out but I do have my free time to have fun and bring back girls. Any of the above worth staying at? Last year I was at the Hard Rock which was cool but a kind of strange bringing back friends.

Thanks for the help

Apeman, I will be spending 5 weeks at Pattaya Bay Resort this August and September and was a bit distressed to see that they are pile driving right next door. Is this on the front side next to the Avenues or on the back side where the trees are? Also, have to totally agree the coffee tastes like absolute shit the last time I was there in March, it tastes almost salty for some reason. It has been going down on my last couple of stays, but at 5, 000 a week for my five week stay, hard to beat price for quality. Plus, the girls at the front desk are very friendly about you bringing guests back.

Please let me know which side the noise is on, so I can request a room on the other side, if that will be able to help at all.

This place and others in this area are being totally overhyped. When I stayed there the Wi-Fi was terrible. It kept crashing and I kept calling reception who kept sending some supposed IT guy to help. He seemed a good guy but didn't really have a clue. On his name tag it showed he worked in Accounts. Hate to think what kind of state the accounts are in. Finally I got fed up and started to press the re-set button outside my room. This worked. But then I had a phone call. Some American sounding guy said he would chuck me out if I touched the button again. I asked him what the problem was and he said 'You are in Thailand'. One of the standard replies I have had from foreign hotel owners during my stays in Thailand. Well this standard reply doesn't wash with me and I never return to a place where I hear this statement. If you do stay there remember to close your balcony door if you sit on the balcony. I forgot and all kinds of bugs flew into the room.

As for the area (Soi Diana etc.) and other establishments I would have to say this is very much D list and if you are into D list girls (maximum 4 out of 10) then this might be the place for you. The really hot girls are all in the Walking Street where they know they can make decent money.

Ask for a room on the Reception side, The noise is next to the pool (they say it will only last for 3 weeks, but this is Thailand and anything could fucking happen). True about the cost and the front desk girls, but a couple can be narky. Have fun.

Thank you in advanceStayed there last year (Aug 2010).

Room was spacious, having taken the superior room at the rate of 1300 BT / night incl. Breakfast.

Girl friendly, I spent 3 nights, and I had 2 experiences, no hassle, just asked for the girls' IDs.

Pool was refreshing and offered good quality reasonably priced cuisine, v. Tasty.

Location was so so, behind the Ave mall.

Shower also was not that good as there was no curtain and the water would just mess up the toilet paper and e. Thing else.

Internet connection was OK.

I am going to Pattaya in a week or so, but still didn't know if I'll go there, need some place closer to the action (walking street and beach).

Hi guys,

Coming to Pattaya in early August for 5-6 days and am looking for a place on either the Soi 6-9 area or in the LK Metro area. Criteria are:

Kitchenette (so I can sleep in and make my own breakfast and coffee)

In-room safe.

Good (strong & stable) Wi-Fi in room.

No joiner fee.

Budget is TBH 2500 / night. Any and all suggestions will be highly appreciated.

I've taken a look at Eastiny on Soi 8 (stayed there back in 2000) and they don't meet all the criteria. I've also checked the Flipper website and I can't find any information regarding in-room safe or Wi-Fi.

Peace.

After reading about the Sea Me Springs Hotel, I decided to pay a visit last week. I didn't stay there since I had made previous arrangements at Whitehouse Condotel. I've always recommended Whitehouse but the rooms are showing wear even though the hotel is only 5-6 years old.

I was extremely impressed with Sea Me Springs. It's located on Soi 10 between 2nd Road and Beach Road. The best rates are the low season walk up rates. All rooms are the same; prices are based solely on location. They are having a walk up special now that is even better than their website rates (I was told). Lowest priced rooms were B1250 and highest were B1690 (good ocean view). Rooms are good size, walk in shower, inroom safe, internet is free. American style breakfast costs B100. The hotel appears to be about 6 months old. Furnishings are new and modern which is hard to find in a good location at this price point.

I don't know what pricing will be in high season but I think this is a very good bargain for a good, new well located, hotel. I'll be staying here on my next Pattaya visit.

Your right and your wrong! Walking Street action is at night, with L. K. It is 24/7, but of course it is a personal choice?

LBMWhen you say 24/7 do you mean 7/11? LOL.

OK – When you make a general statement like this LBM you need to add a little more clarification as we could end up miss-leading people. There are different levels of action. For example if you watch a soccer game you should enjoy a game between two top sides like Chelsea and Man Utd. Rather that a game between two sides in a much lower division. You have Premier League and you have other leagues.

For Premier League see the Walking Street. Even though this doesn't run 24/7 this is where you find the quality action. Some people prefer a small dose of quality action rather than a large dose of action that doesn't quite match the same levels.

I do know that a number of farangs, many who live in Pattaya or who are on extended vacations; do like the kind of action that you mentioned. It's a chance for them to get together and talk about the old days and about the problems they have with their Thai wives / girlfriends. A bit like an ex-pat social club.

So for people visiting Pattaya on vacation. If you want the hot action you will find it in the Walking Street. If you want a more laid back social club type of action then follow LBM's direction. As he says it's all about personal choice?

for premier league see the walking street. even though this doesn't run 24/7 this is where you find the quality action. some people prefer a small dose of quality action rather than a large dose of action that doesn't quite match the same levels.

i do know that a number of farangs, many who live in pattaya or who are on extended vacations; do like the kind of action that you mentioned. it's a chance for them to get together and talk about the old days and about the problems they have with their thai wives / girlfriends. a bit like an ex-pat social club.

so for people visiting pattaya on vacation. if you want the hot action you will find it in the walking street. if you want a more laid back social club type of action then follow lbm's direction. as he says it's all about personal choice?let me clarify my statement then, so not to confuse anyone! the question was very simple so was you response! we are talking 24/7 and not 7/11 lol!

no where was it mentioned " level of action " " soccer league " no one was asking the " leve of action " i believe if the question ask " action " most would generally believe or think " sex " where one can find it and where can one have it the most? one would assume why there is this board?

i believe your statement are a contradiction. between the two area's of walking street and lk. hot action can be debate but as i noted in general the majority of people would tell you that walking street is happening at night that is why the street is closed to traffic during the evenings. when it comes to l. k. althought as you stated " get together and talk about the old days etc." you have a greater amount of people checking out the bars, massage parlor, [CodeWord900] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord900), d. d. and countless small open bars for action than you will see on walking street during the day. to end we are simple talking about sex and not soccer or the level of soccer? we are also not talking about food or the level of food.

regardless, we do agree that it is a personal choice let the readers decide and get back regarding out statement but lets not bring soccer into this. personally soccer is boring to me but being in pattaya i'm trying to get into it but i always fall asleep before the game even gets to half time?

Peace.I am still at Diana-Oasis (LOS) , keep extending. These guys are so nice, they don't mind you come late for breakfast, just tell them when booking. Rainy days, but action LK-area close by. Half the price of your budget. Check it out. Their website gives you all the info you need.

I like their T-208, but as they seem to be very busy they have moved me a couple of times, as I had no prior long-term booking. Now in C-Block, which are very nice and clean studios. These studios have HDMI LCD's. Today opening of the new SUGAR Gogo, just down the.

Road. Seen some hot dancers applying the last few days. Party-time! JB.

Since I am going back to Pattaya in a week or so, and having previously stayed at Pattaya Bay resort, experience was good, but location was a turn off.

I found attractive offers from Ambiance Hotel, which is supposed to be a gay hotel located in boyztown.

I am staright, no gay no LB, yet the offer is interesting.

Has anyone been there before?

Thanks in advance.

CiaoThe last thing you would want to hear in the next room is two dudes getting down.
