Jackson,

We need some senior member upgrades for Miami, FL posters. We have an influx of excellent mongers, who have helped me tremendously. The delay in the posting though is hurting the efforts. These guys really deserve it!

Jackson, congrats on the new format. I really like it and it looks great. One question: in the old program, I could click on Last 24 Hours and check out what's been posted recently. So far, when I click on Last 24 hours, I get the Forum Search page. Is something amiss or am I just being dense? (Wouldn't be the first time I wasn't paying attention!)

P.S. Thanks for all your hard work, it is very much appreciated.

Jackson,

I suspect that the new software will soon become well loved and accepted by at least 89.9 percent of the members. My many years of experience have taught me that you will find that ten percent will fight every step of the way and create 90 percent of your problems. I think it's cool and like the better linkage.

I do have a minor problem that perhaps someone can help me solve. I obviously put my finger on the wrong button (How many years have I been hearing THAT!) and now I am subscribed to a Photo Gallery thread that I really don't need to be subscribed to.

I went to the USER CP and got a box that said "New Subscriptions - 0" and I clicked on the "View All Subscriptions" link.

That gives me a box that says I'm subscribed to Photo Gallery. I clicked on the drop-dow menu and selected "Delete Subscription" but it doesn't seem to delete.

I obviously can't think sufficiently linearly to comprehend what I'm doing wrong, or not doing right. Can somebody teach this old geezer the secret of how to go through life without getting my finger into the wrong place only to be followed by an unending stream of e-mails to remind me of my indescretion?

T think that fellow Shakespeare was right when he said, "To err is human, to REALLY fuck-up requires a computer."

Thanks, all, for any help you can offer.

Randy

Randy, you've done everything right except for one thing. If you select the check box to the right of the notification info of the thread you want to delete, and then select "Delete Subscription" in the drop-down box and hit "Go" it removes the thread from the list. You can also simply change the notification option to "No Notification" and that will stop the emails.

What means the green spot beside my ID name?

Thanks in advance

Ray,

If there is a green dot that means the person is online, if it's not green then they are offline.

Go to the following Board here =

Site Administration > Forum FAQ > .02 User Name Questions

The Very Last Post there is titled =

" How do I change my User Name? "

»»» Yer Welcome , Dude !!

p.s. = Do you know my cousin , Randy Bush ??

Thanks, I confess, I had not read the FAQs. However, I did not realise that all posts on this site were spidered by Google.
Did you?
Do you know what that means?

So, as you so kindly answered half the question, how about the other half; the part that is the most important to all of us in respect of privacy, given that if it were not for the referencing by Google, the name change would not become a necessity.

These email messages are unwanted and unnecessary. Can this function be permanently terminated.

NYC Expat,

Please be patient with the new software, it needs a little bit of time to understand and to get used to the new functionalities, but they are great. Jackson must have spent a lot of time implementing them, I believe we can spend a little bit of ours trying to understand them. ;)

By default, you subscribed to "instant email notification" when you posted. Next time, if you don't want to, just change it to "Do not subscribe" from the "Thread Subscription" pull-down menu before submitting your post. I find this new function very useful and would be extremely grateful if it could be kept.

If you have subscribed unintentionally, you can easily unsubscribe. Click on "User CP" (meaning User Control Panel) from the menu at the top of this screen. Most of the time, a list of subscribed threads should show and you just have to click on "Unsubscribe" for the concerned threads.

If a list of subscribed threads doesn't show, but something else (like a list of PMs), click on "List Subscriptions" in the control panel on the left (alternatively, you can go to "Quick Links" on top menu bar and select "Subscribed Threads" from the pull down menu), check the box next to the threads you want to unsubscribe, select "Delete Subscription" from the pull-down menu and click on "Go". Believe me, it's easy and much faster for you to do that than for me to write it. :D

Dear sir,

Thanks for upgrading the software. I can see how it will be more useful in the future.

However, I do find that it seems far, far slower than it used to be. Part of the debugging process, perhaps?

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the instructions. I think the problem is solved. The thread subscription function is new and users must remember to choose "no email notification" before clicking submit.

Ebauche,

Jackson is working on it. Quote from WSGForum homepage :

"Greetings Everyone,

As you have observed, I am still working on completing the upgrade to the new version of the vBulletin software that powers the Forum. In the next several days my server consultants will be re-configuring and otherwise optimizing the server to eliminate the slow response times. Please have patience, the problem will be resolved as quickly as possible. However, until then I have temporarily limited the viewing of the Forum to registered Forum Members, which includes Viewing Members, Regular Members and Senior Members."

Well, it's more than several days now but, as he said, have patience :D :D :D

Is the "last 24 hour" feature gone for good? This was the favorite feature among members for conducting searches. It's a must have. Otherwise, the new forum is great! Photo improvement is outstanding too!

Hi Jackson,

First, I thank you for such a fantastic site! There is nothing else like it on the web.
When you first upgraded the site I was not happy with it. I am slowly learning and I believe you are correct, that in the long run it will be better.
Me, not having any computer knowledge I don't know if this is practical or not. My question is this; With this new setup can a spell checker be installed? I can see where it may help me with just my 3rd grade education and also, the forum members that are not native english speakers. It may even save you some time correcting some of the members' typos and spelling errors.
I know you are working on it but to give you some feed back, it is still very, very slow.

Thanks again,
Peterman

Dear Jackson,

You have removed Osama bin Laden's caricatures from the Afghan photo gallery on my complaint. My complaint was not because of my ideology but because you once expunged some of my anti Bush and anti American remarks under inappropriate political content.

Thank you for playing fair. This new look seems good and hitech.

Hi Jackson,

First, I know you are working on it but to give you some feed back, it is still very, very slow.

Thanks again,

PetermanI have a DSL connection and navigating the site is very slow. However, I had occasion to be poking around on at about 4am EDT on Nov 1 and the site was responding normally. Given that during the day there is increased traffic it makes me think that something has changed with the server over and above the new software.

Just a thought.

The new forum's format seems fine but the "click-till-page dispayed" response time is still way too slow compared to the former forum.

I am not sure if this is related to the Update, but for several weeks now I have had access problems to the site. Normally I use http://www.wsgforum.com to access the site. Sometimes I get:

We can't find "wsgforum.com" You can try again by typing the URL in the address bar above. MSN Search.....Or, search the Web:

or I get 404 page does not exist.

When I try http://wsgforum.com (without the www) sometimes it works. This has happened randomly, for example around 1pm Pacific Time today, neither of the worked. Right now only www.wsgforum.com works.

Anyone else having this problem?

Some feedback:

On occasion, when I read some threads, in the LA-USA section, the screen shows only 4-5 posts and the last post is cut, as in not complete and there is no bottom header at all. Also, sometimes, only the top header with the Welcome, Daddy Lows and User CP-Search-Quick-Links header shows up. Nothing else is shown beneath it. I know it's not a long loading time because when I click on New Posts, the page loads up within a minute (still much longer time than in the previous incarnation of WSG). Hope this helps. Thanks again.

Peace

i certainly do not want to come off sounding negative on this however my visits to the wsg forum have reduced substantially. since 2000 - 2001 i have frequented the site on almost a daily basis, i especially enjoyed the last 24 hours posts as it really made the viewing experience fun to whittle through the pages looking for my favorite country's posts.

again many kudos to jackson for keeping the site alive and allowing us all to view this for free. being in the computer/software industry i can certianly see the value of upgrading applications and introducing newer technology, new features and functions can ultimately improve the overall system, from user to operator/admin.

on the flip side, change is hard being the creature of habit i am, introduction of new things which may seem better could work both ways. the further you develop a product, the drill down progresses its all more to learn. although i am not impressed so far with the new sites modifications, maybe it might grow on me and during this time hopefully the sites speed will get back to normal.

Joecaddy, GettingTang,

The "Last 24 Hours" doesn't work indeed, but I'm sure Jackson will have a look at it when he will have a minute, the problem being already reported a few times.

In the meantime, you can click on "New Posts" on the blue menu bar at the top of this screen (User CP - FAQ - Members List - Calendar - New Posts - Search - Quick Links - Log Out). It will give you the posts since your last visit.

i'm not very happy with the upgrade. while i can understand the enhancements as described, the benefits of them are so overwhelmed by the slowness of the site, that i can't see any real advantage. in fact, where i would stop by once a day, now i think once a week is going to have to be my routine. i don't mean to be so negative, but even though i have a cable connection with good speed to other graphic sites, wsg forum is much like being back on a medium speed dial-up modem for me.

if others aren't having a similar problem, i would like to hear that. i don't think it is my system, since other sites work fine. but possibly it is. does anyone else find load time for pages slow and any photos downloaded just creep along?

I do not wish to seem unappreciative, Jackson. You have a great site & I've been a faithful follower of over 5 years & 3 different screen names. This change is sooooo hard to accept. I do realize that it's still a work in progress, but it seems that the entire board is suffering due to this change in by no other reason than the lack of posts. Posting in some of the more active forums has pretty much been reduced to nothing, & it's a pain just trying to get to the forums that before were so easily accessible. I'm not criticizing you. On the contrary, you've been a rock. It's just this new s/w SUX!!! The best news that I could hear at this point would be that this was a learning experience that didn't pan out, the old s/w would be re-initiated. Hey.... some of us are also old & wouldn't appreciate being replaced by newer, better performing "upgrades", either! :)

Well, I am still learning the new software and have two questions.

1. When I go into the United States forum, all the states down to North Carolina are the state name, from North Dakota down, the state forum is open, with the last posting information, who posted, and number of threads information displayed. The earlier states have what appears to be a double arrow up button that does nothing when clicked.

Any suggestions?

2. I thought this was posted once before, but a search doesn't find the information. So here we go. Opening many of the city threads, displays "Current Reports". Is there anyway to turn this off and go straight to the posts?

TIA.

i posted in here a few days ago and i have been unable to see it every being published. if i do a search on my nick, the new software shows that i have a post here (and other places too) but does not link to the post. i've gone through here three times trying to see it, but nada.

suggestion 1.

html suggestion for visited links, particularly in photo sections. while the active link is colored, a visited link returns to the same color as an unvisited hyperlink. please consider changing that. it means that with multiple photos being submitted, it is easy to end up clicking on a visited link inadvertently. waste of time and bandwidth for everyone involved.

suggestion 2.

modify the search by nick to connect directly to posts by that nick. not just show what forums the nick has posted in.

lasty, the new site is much improved now. my original "lost" post was about the extremely slow loading times. that seems to have been resolved after the forum was down for two days. i'm glad to see it back and running at a very acceptable speed.

Hi Guys,

I've been visiting DR for some time now and I'm looking for action in the seedier side of things.

I mean I'm looking for loca chicas that are willing to do anything
(including, but not limited to golden/[CodeWord135] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord135), young women - 15/16 yrs and bestiality).

If you have any information just let me know.

Thanks.

P.S: don't respond with judgements, after all this is a site supporting the exploitation of women.

This is unacceptable.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

...Modify the Search by Nick to connect directly to posts by that nick. Not just show what forums the nick has posted in.

In the Search window, at the bottom left, you have the option to "Show Results as ๏Threads ๏Posts". It is defaulted to Threads, just click on Posts.

BTW, on the top left of each post, if you click on the poster's nickname, there is a pull-down menu which will allow you to search for his posts directly.

Can you make it so the new posts in threads come up first instead of last?
There must be a setting somewhere. For me, the new posts always come up first.

Search and last 24 hour function not working........

I expect that I missed something that Jackson pointed out but perhaps he did not do it.

It would seem that the 24 hr function can now be found with the 'Quick Links' button at the top of the forum.

Whether this is well known or not I do not know but I suspect that there are many frustrated members still clicking here and not realising why they have been diverted.

Perhaps Jackson cound remove the 24 hour link and/or arrange a direct link to the Quick Links if possible?

Jackson,
While signing in on a remote computer I noticed that the box is checked for "remember my password".

I think this is a potential problem because if someone fails to check it on a public computer that member will automatically log in when WSG is brought up.

I suggest making the default on that box be unchecked and force the member to check it if he wants... not the other way around.

Seva Lurker

Like CA Traveller, I have noticed the check for remember me when I log in. The problem I have had with this, fortunately only at home, is when I uncheck the box, I cannot log in. I keep getting sent back to the sign in page until I check the remember me box.

Anyone else had this happen?

samus aran (of sa in thailand thread) has requested an upgrade to senior member status. as well as telling him of the form you now have for this purpose, i would request you to grant his upgrading so that he can speedily post and thereby relegate the serial spammers who post on his site to the backwaters where they belong. please do this for thanksgiving day for a little american boy all alone among the millions of pretty women of thailand.

also, it seems possible to get in and read posts from the old left hand frame without logging in. click 24 hours, then new posts, and voila. this might be important to you in controlling your traffic flow.

i tried pm'ing you but you have exceeded your pm allocation apparently. if so, naughty boy!

also, have i spotted some dude using blue on the test and other pages?

a few more days and i will be in thailand. happy thanksgiving day - but do try to eat earlier in the day:)

Jackson,

On the log in page(s) the 'Remember me' box is ticked.
At home, I don't care if I forget to untick that box. My explorer settings get rid of the 'sticky' info as soon as I turn off my IE, or my MyIE rather.

On the road things are different: I do not want to be remembered by ANY computer anywhere outside the beautiful house that is my home and it is quite easy to forget to untick boxes.

Can, could, would you please set that little 'remember me' box to unticked, please?

Thanks.

Meatman,

Yep one post and a loyal member ready to join the other "droves" in leaving the board. Strange thing though. When one enters the forum page, where we first see the new menu, down at the bottom there is a "Forum Stats" block. Well if members are leaving in droves, one wonders why the member count has gone over 100,000 since the middle of Oct's 97,000+ count.

Yep, they are leaving in droves, but not as fast as they are signing up (and running away? :) ).

Another stat derived from that statistics block. Over 300,000 posts and over 103,000 members. So averages just under 3 posts per member. Yet, using the four previous posts in this thread, you have over a 1,000, Freeler has over 800, Domino pushing 300 and I have just over 300. That is over 2,400 posts or something under 3% of the total.

Do I see a lot of lurkers out there? Come on folks, post. It won't hurt you and will help all of us.

The other thing for us to all keep in mind. Jackson is still MONITORING all the regular member posts, plus upgrading the system (working much better now Jackson, THANK YOU), processing new member applications and who knows what else. So folks if you don't like the way Jackson is doing things. Put yourself in his shoes for a day. If the worlds religions were more tolerant of P4P, I'd recommend Jackson for sainthood. He's worked enough miricles running this board.

Dear Jackson,

As the topic about posting rules was closed I hope to be right here.

This forum is called *************. I do not think that any report about a specific locations needs to tell me if a specific woman was rated a 10 or 8 (As being too many times a matter of taste as I had to find out in this forum), if the author was drunk or had 100 viagras or how many times she was banged. If someone wishes to share every little detail about in what way he fucked her, then it is much better off in a private message or in category like "Pornographic/Erotic Literature"
I wish to read some facts about the locality, the prices and general impression of appearance and service.

Suggestions:
1. Please think about a category for people who wish to share pornographic literature.
2. Instead of blank space for writing anything you could introduce some fact requirements. Already filled in keywords of "Adress/Locality:...", "Prices:...", "Quality/Quantity:...." This would remind authors what is a difference between an entertaining and usefull report.

Thanks for considering.
Regards,

Dear Jackson,

Let me tell you the story of this poor little "Regular member" who wanted to ask some questions and get some answers. He wanted to learn some stuff. He also wanted other member to read his reports and give back what he took out.

Since he had a 48 wait before his posts had a chance of appearing on the forum, by the time they did, they had got completely lost behind all the real-time posts of "Senior members".

Surely there is something wrong with that.

I've tried asking for senior membership whcih I believe I should entitled to based upon my track record but I keep getting internal server error asking me to contact 'ralphcarson1@yahoo.com' ,but yahoo keeps rejecting it, saying that that yahooID doesn't exists.

Jackson this is a real problem , you can try it yourself. Please look into this.

Otherwise, site is great and and you are doing a great service to mankind.

Rob,

Don't you think that would be a tad on the boring side? I realize that sum guys go a little overboard on the descriptions using rather colorful and poetic words, but the details are necessary.

The main reason being that I know how far a girl is willing to go by reading some of these posts. I don't want to have to PM someone everytime they report just to get the details.

It's all useful and necessary information and is important for keeping an adequate personality to the site.

Hi, Jackson. I thoroughly enjoy the board, and I thank you for all the hard work you put into keeping this thing running. In reference to Hizark21's post about the search function not working, actually, it does. But it is not working very well at all. I tried to search for Grace Hotel in the Thailand section, and it brought up 2 results. But the results weren't the posts, it was the actual threads. So I had to scan message by message through the Bangkok 2004 Reports section and the Bangkok Hotels section. Needless to say, I didn't get the info I was searching for. Another comment, I used to be able to go to the printable version, and show all 1700 posts (or whatever number) in a thread in one page, so I could copy the posts and paste them in MS Word, so I could search through Word. But now, you can only show 40 posts per page in the printable version. So it doesn't work for me at all. Any idea if you'll be going back to the old way of showing all posts in one page? I would appreciate that soooooo much. Thanks.
(Another reason I would like to show all posts in the thread in a single page is that I save the posts on my PDA so when I travel and don't have internet access, I have all the information right there with me.)

Phuquer, the trick is to use the "Search This Thread" function which will narrow things down as needed.

but the results weren't the posts, it was the actual threads.
this question has been raised and answered many times already, some in this same forum. in the search window, at the bottom left, you have the option to "show results as ๏threads ๏posts". it is defaulted to threads, just click on posts. it's a new version, please spend some time to explore and familiarise yourself with it.

hizark21's ,

problem concerning the search function returning only posts made in the last month has also already been reported here many times. it happens in some forums only. jackson is fully aware of it and just needs time to fix it. be patient and give him some air to breathe, i don't think people can speed things up by any means by reporting the same problem again and again.

Thanks for the replies, GandJim and JoeZop. Domino had pointed me in the right direction last night within 5 minutes of my post. Thanks, Domino. I currently have been away from home and haven't been able to check the board much these past few weeks. Since Jackson changed software, the board has been responding very slowly sometimes (an item he is working on), so I haven't had time to explore the many changes. I like some of the changes, but dislike others. Oh well, we will all get used to it. Once again, thanks to all who replied (GandJim, JZ, Domino, etc).

Jackson,

I mentioned this in a response to someone elses post on the login screen a week or so ago. I tried to log in from a friends computer yesterday and I unchecked the 'remember me' button. The system would tell me "welcome Seva Lurker" and then take me to a screen with no user name, and limited functions. I just tried logging on with IE (I normally use Netscape) at home with the same results. When I select the remember me button, then I can log in.

Many thanks for the work you put in to make this a great forum.

Hi Jackson, there's 2 of us with the same problem now. I have a messageboard on my own sites, so I know it takes a hell of a lot of work, especially upgrading them. I use IE, when that error comes up and that emailadress is either wrong, or the settings of that yahoo account are wrong.

This is the response I get from yahoo

Jackson,

The senior member upgrade page ( http://www.wsgforum.com/seniormembercriteria.html ) says to request upgrades by posting in the senior member upgrades section ( http://www.wsgforum.com/vforum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1505 ) but when I click on the link it says: No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster

I cannot find the section to post the request. Can you post a link to the section or has the upgrade procedure changed?

Thanks in advance.

Jackson,

I love the new format, however I do have a few comments.

1. When viewing the new posts a lot of the headers just say Current Reports while others are named. Is there anty way to get it to work like the old format did so when you view new posts you can find the ones you are interested in easier.

2. I understand the new format allows us to create different threads but it is not enabled for members. Any chance senior members will be able to create new threads? I think it would be helpful so we can create threads in our areas to seperate SW reports from AMP reports or even create a seperate Photos only thread in each area.

Thanks again for the great forum, and congrats on your engagement.

When the post reads Current Reports, it usually means it's a thread in the United States section. ALso, on the right hand side of the screen, there is an indicator of the place or country where the post is from. Personally, I think it's better for scanning since I'm interested in Photo galleries around the world and those are the headings that are in block letters on the lefthand side of the screen. Jackson's old format wasn't this organized! Trust me, it's an improvement.

The thread dealio is a separate issue. A lot of people here complained that if left to the idle whims of the general membership, threads would be popping out of the wazoo. In other words, the whole clean-cut organized look of WSG would be gone. From what I could gather, Jackson has reserved the right to make threads whenever the need arises. Remember, he couldn't easily do that with the old format. Also, could you imagine the difficulty of navigating all the stupid threads some idiot senior members here would think up of? Now, I'm not bashing Redbook, but its Southern California section is kind of sloppy. At least the sloppiness here is contained.

Jackson,

I was wondering when you would allow the search members posts function to return. You know the one where you right click on a member's name and there are several options to choose, one of which was "See member's posts" or something to that effect. Very handy indeed. Thanks for your consideration.

Respectfully yours,

That´s exactly, what I did - on Oct. 29th. No reaction...

Perhaps the best idea is to wait until Jackson has finished the upgrade process. Then the Membership Upgrade Procedure should work properly again.

When clicking on 'setting options' feature in UCP I am denied access to all three sections in that box. I think this is only occuring since the software change-over. Also when reading the forum, 'posting rules' box at bottom says I may post replies and attachments, but not start new threads or edit my posts. I believe I used to be able to start new threads and edit them. Are these two problems related, or separate? Have RTFF and RRTFF to no avail. Open to any and all helpful suggestions. TIA.

Daddy,

When you click on a member's name at the top left of his post (normal click, not right click), there is a pull-down menu and one menu-item is for finding all posts by that member. :D

Jackson, if you have the time to post some of the responses I have read as well as reply to my post, why then no time for an upgrade?
I follow the rules set forth in this forum.
The requests' I have sent you for upgrade were 10 months ago, 9 months ago, 8 months ago, etc. Every month your were posting ""X" amount of upgrades to senior member have been approved but my request never were.
I am also getting notification from WSG when new messages are posted. These notifications are filling up my in box. I need to turn that option off. I can't because I am not a senior member. I also can't update my profile for the same reason(s). Could you make some time for the upgrade?
Thank you.

I don't have the time to write a full explaination about how the server has been the subject of numerous deliberate DOS attacks, that I injured my shoulder and have been having difficulity using the keyboard, etc. However, here's a quick briefing:

Senior Memberships: There are currently more than 500 applications for Senior Membership. Each application takes approximately 5 minutes to be reviewed, effect the upgrade, and send the upgrade notice. With these figures, it's easy to calculate that I need approximately 42 hours to effect this task. I don't have 42 hours.

Membership Profile: I had to turn off the members ability to change their profile and other related settings because I need to modify the form because there are several settings that I do not want people to change. However, changing the forms are complicated in the new verison of VB because it uses so many variables in the forms that you can't easily identify the specific modifications that need to be made. Activating the Membership Profile Form is on my list of priorities, but I haven't had the time.

To solve these problems and complete the backlog, I am currently cunducting interviews to hire an editor. When I have selected the correct person, I am sure that this backlog will be address as quickly as possible.

Thanks,

Jackson

Not sure turning that option off has something to do with being a senior member or not, or access to User Profile. I suggest you check a couple of things :

1. When you write a post, before submitting the reply, click on the "Thread Subscription", "Notification Type" pull-down menu, which is located just between the window where you write your post and the button "Submit Reply". It is defaulted to "Instant email notification". Just change it to something else "Do not subscribe" or "No email notification".

2. For previous unintentional subscriptions, click on "User CP" on the left side of the blue band at the top of this screen. On the left, below the "Settings & Options" where you cannot edit your profile (and senior members also cannot edit their profile too, so upgrading to seniormembership wouldn't help you anyway), go down to "Subscribed Threads" and click on "List Subscriptions". Here, you may be able to select the threads you no longer want to subscribe to and delete the subscriptions (from pull-down menu just below).

If this doesn't work, just look around. Maybe there are other possibilities (I'm sure there are, I keep finding new things each day).

Dear Jackson,

I'm awefully sorry to hear that you have injured your shoulder. I hope it's not too serious and that you will recover fully soon.

I would like to take this opportunity to say how grateful I am to you for running this wonderful web site, and how I admire you for going on and on without being discouraged.

You certainly know that only unhappy people write to complaint, and happy one just remain silent most of the time. Well, I just want to tell you that I've found this site absolutely fantastic, that the new software is bringing more than welcomed improvements and that I am in full and total support for it. I'm sure there are tons and tons of other members thinking the same way I am.

So big big thanks to you again, and wish you a prompt and total recovery,

Jim

If there was anything I could do to help, I'd do it. Of course, being from the ass-end of the world, I guess there's bugger all I could do that would be of any real assistance to you. :)

You're doing a great job, gorgeous. x

Seeing as there's been literally tens of thousands of registrations in the past few months, I'd just like to say to those new members, in case some of them aren't aware...

The WSG only exists today because of one man's time, effort and dedication. Jackson runs this site alone, with (most importantly) his own money. In addition to maintaining the Forum, has a 'real' job and a life outside of the WSG that also needs to be tended to and maintained. If Jackson gets burnt out and walks away, this little community we have here will simply disappear. So please give him a break, let him work things out at his own pace and while you're at it...let him know occasionally what a bloody marvellous job he's doing and how grateful we are that he's doing it.

Excuse the blatant brown-nosing. :p

I have followed your instructions, verbatim. I still can't access the user CP options.
Here's why; Scuba, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?

If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

As a senior member, I take it that I have sufficient privileges.

Hi,

No Member, Viewing, Regular or Senior, can access the Control Panel functions at this time.

This limitation has NOTHING to do with anyone's status or value to the Forum.

I will post a notice when the CP has been re-activated.

Thanks,

Jackson

Jackson, sorry to hear about the shoulder and congratulations on the news from the Thanksgiving dinner.

I think a simple solution to the Sr upgrade problem is charge people for it. Keep the money, donate it to WSG charity's or use it for toilet paper at the Mansion who cares. I don't understand people who complain about a free service perhaps if there was a nominal charge it would keep the crybaby's at home.

This forum helped changed my life. It made me realize that the way I was raised in my tight assed society was incompatable with my personal values, got me to visit BsAs for the first time and has provided me with uncountable hours of reading pleasure. It also introduced me to my favorite companero (sp) Sr. Dickhead.

All I can say is thank you very much.

Sorry to hear of your injury. I frankly don't know how you find the time, (and the money) to keep the board running. I realize that it must be particularly difficult to balance new software debugging, the time pressure of the holidays, the difficulty of typing with an injured shoulder, and the demands of people who all seem to be convinced that they, individually, are the center of the universe, and that you have nothing better to do than to take care of their particular requests.

If I remember my middle school Latin, Illigitimi non Carborundum, which should translate to Don't Let the Bastards Wear You Down.

Have a happy new year.

Fondly, Randy

jackson, i've had the precise problem you describe, as well as some arm problems, stemming from the same thing. the solution that has worked for me was to track down a keyboard that had a touchpad built into it so i eliminated reaching for a mouse. unfortunately, those never got all that popular, so they're tough to find, but they're still around and do the trick. i prefer the ones with the touchpad in the middle, which makes them pretty much the same configuration as my laptop.

i wish you a swift recovery, and thanks and kudos again on the site. it seems from this end that you've got the server problems mostly licked -- nice speed, only occasional problems connecting -- and while i know there is still much to do i for one very much like the new version.

Seriously, I just wanted to add one more voice to the chorus: you're amazing, and here's to better health and more free time Real Soon Now. I know from experience that physical therapy is no damned fun at the time (unless you're a masochist, I guess), but going through it is better for you in the long run than blowing it off, I think.

Hey there,

It's me again. I would like to take this opportunity to compliment you on the new look and the function of the site. It took a little getting used to, but everything seems to be working just fine.

One question. With all the improvements to the software, would it be easier to add a photo section for every country now? There are quite a few countries that have no photo section (for no apparent reason). One example of this situation, Mongolia actually HAS a photo section, while Kenya does not.

Just a thought,

With 2005 rapidly approaching , now might be a good time to re·institute the old 'WSG Benefactor' Status

But while the previous designation denoted members who had donated money for charitable purposes , this time the funds should be used solely to support this site [ because it must cost you a friggin' arm and a left nut to run this place ]

Best Wishes for a Happy New Year to You and Yours !!

First, Jackson, let me congratulate you on the new forum. It is wonderful.

Today, I noticed a small problem. When I did the new posts search it came up with a list. One of these had "Current Reports" as the thread and the forum as "Other Areas." There was no way for me to know what part of the world was "Other Areas." Only after clicking on it did I discover it was Rhode Island, USA.

Perhaps you have a way to correct this small problem. My suggestion might be to change the name of all such genericly labeled forums to include the master forum name (e.g., Rhode Island Other Areas)
