I was sitting at home back in early November making plans for this 'trip' lets call it, maybe 'this move' better describes the situation. Started to downsize my life, look at what I really needed and I must say 'girls' was high on the list. But at the prices they were asking back home it made no sense to consider sticking around. Friends bid me farewell, drank too much on several occasions and I'd hear all sorts of comments from 'your nuts' to 'man I wish I had the guts to do that'. I knew I couldn't jump right into the hobby full blown, wanted to take things slowly. Tried to import a working girl but that fizzled out pretty quickly. I realized very quickly I was just the bank. This should 'slow down' the spread of Omicron I would guess but eventually it will overwhelm hospitals since Thailand only has a 65% vaccination rate. Then my extra 30 days I get added to my visa might turn into even more time in Thailand. But there are tons and tons of girls in need of money down here, some even coming back from the province.

Now I tried the bar scene here and there even though I decided not to stay in the heart of the action, wanted a good reason not to go out and spend extra money on lady drinks and all of that. I'm trying not to be the weekend millionaire and keeping to a respectable budget. My money is reaching the local economy, it just might come from a cuties hands who had to spread her legs to earn it. I will admit that at times there were so many hot looking girls on offer on TF that I'd just stay home and order takeout. And you know these girls aren't like 'escorts', they won't show up on time hardly ever and the times they must have walked out of the condo as the next was walking in happened a few times. Taking extra covid tests as a foreigner is a bit like playing Russian roulette, eventually your going to bite the bullet. Day after that announcement I remember reading 68 farangs tested positive. Do you really think a gov't employee in a hazmat suit who told you that you have covid is really going to just let you walk away? There are camera's everywhere, eventually they will track you down if you try to run (or walk away). In one stroke of the pen the Govna stopped most foreigners from spending money at the bars. Yeah you can still see some guys hanging around but you'd hope they were smart enough to test themselves at home first before going out to the public testing areas.

Now would I rather be home than stuck in a foreign country having sex with all sorts of hot young women for what amounts to a few beers back home? Not a chance. I'm just glad I got here right before things started to go south. My hope is they do shut down the country. Right about when my visa is coming due. I'd gladly stick around and help out the women who proved their worth, not the ones who no showed and now send me messages that they miss me LOL. Is Pattaya still a paradise? Not so much but it sure beats being back home.

Sure there are another couple of dozen who are good enough for a try, 6 of those too will be on their periods as well. They say the real number is 9 times higher than the registered number. 468,000 were infected with omicron yesterday (Friday 7 Jan) alone (although "only" 53,419 cases were registered). They do antigen tests in Bangkok as well if you want to enter Soi Cowboy. And now also in the entrance of Nana Plaza. I asked the staff what do they do if the test shows positive result. The answer was they will recommend the person to go to hospital for PCR test, which is more accurate. Nobody is forced into hospitalisation at that point.

They want the money and foreigners are now demanding these Thai insurance companies pay the bill. Imagine paying a Thai insurance company double what a normal travel insurance might run you and then being told you had to pay up front and then try to get back your money. You'd say no. That's what's happening all over the world now it seems. Those hospitals are just money grabs by the governments.

Something to consider. I remember booking hotels in the states when we were allowed to book them again, you'd go to check in and were told they were only renting out a third of their rooms and they wouldn't even clean them for two days in case someone had covid who stayed in the room. They'd let them sit for 2 days for any virus to die on its own. Have to wonder if these SHA hotels are doing the same or are they turning over the rooms as fast as they can for the money?

Took a run down to soi 6, arriving at 2:30 pm since they are now closing the bars at 9 pm. Not much talent I'm afraid but I did stop by 3 bars for a beer each to check out the girls. Right around 4 pm it really seemed to pick up, maybe all of the late girls came to work. I do look for jems to be found and was suppressed to find several worth considering. It just can't compare to pre-covid levels but there were a few gems here and there worth considering. I didn't see anyone ever check to see if you had a clear covid test, it was business as usual with managers and girls all walking around without masks. I had some fun with one of the girls and then headed out around 6 pm before any police checks might happen.

As mentioned below, there was a raid by Pattaya police last night of several bars who were serving alcohol in jugs after 9 pm. The bars had appeared closed as there were canvas material covering the opening but the police were not duped by this tactic and a number of owners were arrested. Apparently, quite a few of the bars had customers inside but they were not arrested. The bell slowly toils for thee, Pattaya.

It sounds like no one on Soi 6 was requiring customers have a recent ATK test.I did a self test at my condo and put it in the included plastic bag and took it with me to show if I was asked to show a negative test. And I'd even put it on the table next to my mask and nobody looked at it or asked about it during the day at any bar I visited anywhere from LK metro to Soi 6 bars. Its possible at night they are asking but I really doubt it. Temp gun sitting on a booklet of tests that never get touched. I am curious what an official test should look like, my guess is there is something written inside with a date and signed by the tester? Anyone know?

Almost as sad as things it's seems have become again in Bangkok flesh spots.

It will get better again, but I do note that a lot of the talent that fled Pattaya before, then returned, are leaving again.

And turning back up in Phuket, posting such in their online social media.

And, if you believe the crybabies bemoaning the high prices and lacking of quality (online) in Phuket.

Well you wouldn't go there either.

Thankfully, they don't know the rules of the game and how to play it, like you, others and myself do.

And it seems they'd rather yak yak than adapt their games.

I would have kept my January-March travel plans if the Thai government clearly allowed me to opt to quarantine in my own hotel room when I test positive.There are very few good outcomes from catching Covid. I will return to Pattaya when the chances of catching Omicron in a bar are not so high.

Meanwhile, I am asking those in Pattaya to report on the extent of the spread of Omicron there, and whether those ATK tests are still required to go into a bar.

Initially, all indications were that this program would not be reinstalled for at least several months and there was no way as a fully vaccinated individual I was going to submit to a mandatory quarantine of seven days at one of their expensive hotel alternatives. However, it appears that the Thai authorities realized that many potential visitors, like myself, felt the same way and cancelled their plans to come to Thailand this winter.

Now, they are doing a rather dramatic reversal and all indications appear to suggest they are going to allow Test&Go to resume beginning in February (though so far it's unclear when in February). However, I still have concerns mainly that a potential remains that I would test positive upon arrival, either on the arrival date or five days later, and even though asymptomatic may find myself facing a hospital stay or a longer stay in their designated hotel. That's a non-starter in my opinion. Also, I am still fairly certain I would not come if the 9 pm drinking rule stays in effect. I could live with the non restaurant bars and night clubs being closed, but I can drink at home after 9 pm so why travel half way around the world to face this restriction.

Finally, the Thai authorities were quoted as saying this change in policy to allow Test &Go will increase tourism by 8 million pax through the year. Perhaps, they are forgetting that many potential visitors have already changed their winter holiday plans, the now high cost of international flight travel that will continue to defer travelers, and the possibility that a positive test whilst in Thailand will result in an enforced hospital stay? In fact, only two months are left of their traditional high season.

I did a quick kayak search of flights to Bangkok from London and from LAX. Though more searches would be necessary, fares look ok and airlines who want to stay in the game are desperate for $$.

Smaller countries like Thailand cannot be the first to blink or they will suffer retaliation. My advice to you would be to book a deal if other variables are ok as carbon taxes are on the way. Western governments have printed and spent money like drunken American sailors in Pattaya for Operation Cobra. There is a huge hangover on the way.

I don't know but part of the issue of flights is the amount of time it takes to get from PointA to Point be. For example, I usually fly United or Eva from the US West Coast to Thailand with a stop in either Japan or Taipei, Taiwan. However, Eva is currently not flying to most of their usual international destinations due to Taiwans draconian Covid policies. In better times, they offered a reasonable alternative to United with better planes, prettier and more genial flight attendants, and perhaps a few more empty seats. On a few occasions, I was able to commander an entire row in economy to lie down for the long haul portion of the flight. Not so with United. Nevertheless, United flights for one way are for the most part now over 1,000 one way where they used to be $700 or thereabouts. One could always fly their Japanese airline partner but that mostly seems to lead into Japan for the first stop and longer layovers. It's still possible to use award miles and lately a one way with United will cost you between 44 to 48 k miles from US west coast to BKK or even vía Frankfurt with the last leg covered by Thai Airways. This mileage change assessment came about after Test and Go was suspended so I suspect it will revert back to a higher cost in mileage in short order.

EVA Air was to open up to international transit on March 1. I booked a flight to SEA for the 1st week of March. Because of Omicron EVA Air nuked all transit flights from March 1-31,2 days after I booked! They are now booking flights from April 1 but if I were you I wouldn't book because there is a very good chance these flights will be cancelled as well. You'll be stuck trying to get your refund back like me.

Traveling is no longer fun. I remember the good old days when I lived in Thailand. Woke up in the morning, thought what should I do today. Let's fly to Phnom Penh or Jakarta this afternoon! Booked a flight, packed a carry on, taxi to airport, and I would on Street 136 or Kota Indah by dinner. Now you have to spend hours doing paperwork get PCR tests before you leave and arrive. Countries changing their immigration rules by the second. Worry about cancelled flights. Worry about being one of the unlucky 1 in 25 who have to stay in hospital for 10 days upon arrival. Not relaxing at all.

You'll be stuck trying to get your refund back like me.Over the last 2.5 months I purchased 4 roundtrip flights to Thailand and have cancelled all 4 (each for different reasons). Refunds came easily from the first 3 (Cathay Pacific, British Airways, and Lufthansa) and I'm now waiting for the 4th (Qatar). In each case I bought tickets that allowed full refunds with no penalty. Some airlines have unlimited refund policy now (Qatar) while others have a tiered system where the most expensive option allows unrestricted refunds, medium price allows refunds with penalty, and lowest price does not allow refunds (Lufthansa). Be sure to carefully read the fine print before you purchase.

For my travel locations, economy class tickets are as cheap as I've ever seen. Premium economy is extremely expensive (more than business class for some routes). Business class is a little more expensive than I've seen in prior years. I'm too cheap to even consider first class so I can't comment on that. In the case of Qatar, it is much cheaper to purchase online than to purchase over the phone, think 20% difference.

As soon as Qatar gives me my refund for my latest tickets, I'll buy tickets for travel from early March until late April. Advanced ticket purchase often saves money (but increases headaches).

Could not agree more. I also used to enjoy my stay in Bangkok immensely, not just because it was a great place to be, but also due to its proximity and ease of travels to other Asian locations. From BKK, I flew to Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and Indonesia with barely a ruffle. Since I usually had to leave Thailand after my 60 day visa expired, it only enhanced my justification for leaving. But the cultural and mongering aspect of each country were vastly different and not certain that option will avail itself anytime in the near future.

I did not know that Eva had started flights again, nor did I know they cancelled them shortly thereafter. I guess ignorance is bliss as I would have tried to make a reservation with them. I have little interest in going to Thailand after April 1. April and May are the hottest months of the year there and those months lead to rainy season too.

April and May are the hottest months of the year there and those months lead to rainy season too.

Rainy season has never bothered me much. When it rains it's much cooler which I like. Sure you get caught in a heavy downpour on Walking Street daily but it's just a 50 foot run to the next gogo bar. One of my most memorable nights in Pattaya was trying to walk through Soi Diana to LK Metro in thigh high water. I happened to bump into a very cute girl doing the same but the water was over her waist. She was having problems even moving in the water so I piggybacked her. Since my condo was closer than her destination she came over.

Agree April and most of May are not the most enjoyable time to be in Thailand.

Woke up yesterday with the need for a good long BJ so hopped on Thai Friendly and got a girl to come over before breakfast. Funny thing was she was new to Pattaya and just hopped on a motorbike who took her for almost three times the money just to make 1000 baht from me. I then had to show her how to use Bolt to get a 60 baht motorbike back to her place. Unfortunately she didn't know exactly where she lived, finally got her friend to send her location on LINE chat and I got her close to where she lived. I was then going to hit some of the bars like camel toe on the way to soi 6 but having to take those antigen tests just to get in for a beer made me just head to 6 again. Its still a fraction of what it used to be but there are some gems here and there. The problem with Pattaya is that its such a large sprawling town and its impossible to navigate it at times. I'm on those Pattaya line chat bar groups and they post tons of photos of the girls, they are out there but the issue is showing up just to hear the girl say "I have period" and then right after 'you buy me drink? You end up spending what you'd pay a girl for ST in drinks just to find out she's not wanting to open her legs.

I assume he is vaxed or he could not have entered Brazil. For vaxed and otherwise healthy individuals an Omicron infection is flu-like and does not kill and does not require hospitalization. The risk in travelling to Brazil is the slight possibility of catching a crossover Omicron infection and feeling bad for a few days. Nobody want to feel sick while on a trip, but it happens even in pre-covid days. For example, I remember sitting behind a Chinese National who was coughing his brains out on a flight from HKG to BKK. Sure enough I came down with "Bronchitis" 2 days later in Pattaya and lost all desire to shag for 6 days! It was a bummer. I felt miserable, but then I recovered and spent the next 6 weeks having a great time.

The current risk in travelling to LOS IS mandatory testing, possibly testing positive for the Omicron, and subsequently being forced by Thai authorities to quarantine in a Covid ward or special Covid hotel for a prescribed length of time against your will. That is unacceptable to me.

BTW, one of my favorite girls, Mini, felt sick upon returning to BKK after her New Year's eve visit back home, and so she voluntarily got herself tested. BIG mistake! She tested positive and was immediately placed in a Covid hospital ward for 14 days. She had previously been vaxed twice. She told me that she felt bad for 3 days and then she fully recovered. She feels fine now, but she is still in the ward! The hospital will not let her go home until her 14 days are up this Monday. She has to wear a mask 24 hours a day, she is surrounded by really sick people, and essentially she is incarcerated and has had nothing to do for 14 days. Poor Mini! I feel sorry for her. But it was her own fault for getting tested. This sums up the risk in travelling to Thailand under the current measures in place. It is unacceptable!

Since the last 8 years (until2019) I've been frequently visiting Thailand, specially Pattaya and Phuket. I fondly remember my first trip with my school friends where we visited the fish bowls and it was a dream from the bath to the massage and then the unforgettable banging.

I really enjoyed the casual pickup from clubs, there was a time when the girl I picked up was really horny and I didn't pay her (except for her taxi).

I wonder how things will be in a few months. Had it not been for omicron, I would be in Pattaya this month end!

I have three credit cards, two with United miles and one card affiliated with Southwest Airlines. All the cards initially came with miles, which I have used thru the years mainly for emergency purposes or when the cost for a flight is outrageous when compared to using miles. In April of 2020, my United card was especially handy because I booked a one way flight back to the US from Bangkok for a low mileage charge. At the time, flights were being cancelled everywhere due to Covid and the airfare price shot up dramatically. Of course, your miles are also credited based on your credit card purchases but it's also important to consider the yearly fee you are being charged. It can add up if you have a lot of cards, plus your credit rating gets dinged every time you apply for another card.

As a result, I use my cards judiciously and on occasion cancel a card in order to get a card with a better mileage deal. Sometimes, they require you spend X amount within a one or two month period so if you have some big purchases or expenses coming up, keep that in mind when you apply for a new card.

Still trying to decide if Thailand is worth the bother, won't be the place I remember, but if I didn't have such a hard on for it, ID just go to Mexico. No hassles currently, other than test 24 hrs before return to USA.

Also, can anyone confirm the rumor that you can buy a couple test kits from the local pharm and keep your neg result to show saying that it was taken that day instead of testing at every single bar? This will be a big decision for many, as nobody wants to risk a false positive in front of anyone. And hear that some don't press. Like masks, although now I hear they are going to crack down. But all rumors for us now on this side of the pond till we get there and can report-but changes by the day anyway. Damn youtubers everywhere, and can't keep it low key.Well most youtubers make their content by doing those walk along, they normally don't stop at a bar and then film. The signs are all up in front of the bars requiring covid tests but the ones that do ask are accepting the take at home tests that have no date written on an official declaration card that's filled out by a health worker. All bars have those temp scanners of some kind to see if you have a high temp, some bars ask for a negative test and have accepted an undated one I keep in my pocket. Have to be careful with this test because the 'biohazard' emblem on the packaging is almost all worn off. Some places do offer to have a test done for you by their staff and won't call the hotline if you test positive. Personally I don't think I'd ever take a test by a gov't health care worker for a few beers in one particular area because there are thousands of bars out there who won't ask.

I do wonder who 'enforces' this rule? Is it the police? Do they show up to the bar and ask everyone to present an official valid test? Some bars need to make X amount of money every day to pay all of their expenses which might include bribes. If the police come to their bar and scare away all of their customers the bar won't make the money to pay the bribes. So the police stay away. The rules are a joke is what it comes down too, the governor makes these new rules which affects everyone's income. There are some foreigners who just don't see the downside of doing one of these public tests, I met one guy here who just doesn't care and will keep taking them. But he was also forced to pay a 3500 baht bribe when driving drunk on his scooter without a helmet.

Well most youtubers make their content by doing those walk along, they normally don't stop at a bar and then film. The signs are all up in front of the bars requiring covid tests but the ones that do ask are accepting the take at home tests that have no date written on an official declaration card that's filled out by a health worker. All bars have those temp scanners of some kind to see if you have a high temp, some bars ask for a negative test and have accepted an undated one I keep in my pocket. Have to be careful with this test because the 'biohazard' emblem on the packaging is almost all worn off. Some places do offer to have a test done for you by their staff and won't call the hotline if you test positive. Personally I don't think I'd ever take a test by a gov't health care worker for a few beers in one particular area because there are thousands of bars out there who won't ask.

I do wonder who 'enforces' this rule? Is it the police? Do they show up to the bar and ask everyone to present an official valid test? Some bars need to make X amount of money every day to pay all of their expenses which might include bribes. If the police come to their bar and scare away all of their customers the bar won't make the money to pay the bribes. So the police stay away. The rules are a joke is what it comes down too, the governor makes these new rules which affects everyone's income. There are some foreigners who just don't see the downside of doing one of these public tests, I met one guy here who just doesn't care and will keep taking them. But he was also forced to pay a 3500 baht bribe when driving drunk on his scooter without a helmet.It's not clear from your post how many restaurant bars are asking for ATK tests.

Girls seemed down to earth and happy for what ever tips you gave them. And service was quite good.My last trip was in January 2020, and before that I was going every year for a total of 25+ trips. In my experience, Thai girls are still down to earth and happy to be with you. Nothing has changed really, and I don't see how Covid would change that.

Maybe 100 baht more barfine on Soi 6 and the introduction of staggered barfines and the model scam in gogo bars. What has changed are the amount you pay for lady drinks. Walking Street gogo bars used to be 80 baht a ladydrink in 2015 and 200 baht pre-COVID. Post COVID there are far fewer customers so you can negotiate with girls much harder to get better rates. Use Fiwfans as a comparison where you can get gogo girls at 1200 baht per hour now.

About a year ago tons of bars started rebranding themselves as a Gentleman's Club. Golden Time is one and imo it's a gogo bar. Explorer can confirm if Camel Toe has rooms for sex and a pool. I've never been to Beach Club since it just opened but from YouTube videos it looks more like an open air disco.

Yes your process on Soi 6 is what most guys do but it's not mandatory to buy yourself or the girl a lady drink. You can just take her straight upstairs. Some bars may charge you a mandatory drink for yourself though.

It all depends on where you want to pick your girls from. Soapies, Oilies, discos, beer bars, BJ bars, FL, gogo bars, etc. Pattaya gogo bars barfines are nearly twice as much as BKK. For a budget conscious monger, no area can beat Soi 6 pre-COVID. Just for the quantity or girls. Other than true G Clubs in BKK the rest are a nominal difference. Most guys on here don't do true G Clubs in BKK as they say it's of no value. I can't afford them.

Pre-COVID, as for rent, I think if you rent a monthly place for 10 k in both cities they will be similar. Same goes if you are paying 15 k or 25 k. The difference is Pattaya has a ton of places you could rent for 5-6 k per month pre-COVID, none of which I would have stayed in personally. I'm not a fan of crunchy pets.Utter nonsense on Pattaya gogo barfine being double that if Bangkok and in Pattaya you don't need to deal with the anti-white culture. About half the gogos on soi Cowboy had girls who would only take Asian customers.

Man had a good time here, girls were playful without being pushy and the drunker they got the better the night went on. About a good 15 girls, some pretty good looking considering its a BJ bar. Went on a bumble to the bars next door. They had a few girls but absolutely no customers. Did take a cutie in the back at one for a nice 500 baht BJ, worth every penny. Ended the night at Club 4 with more girls drunk and going naked on the stage. They were also doing live video chatting with guys I'm guessing for money. It was an interesting night.

On a side note I grabbed a private taxi from Jomtien into Pattaya at 4 pm and the driver said I was his first fare and this would allow him to grab some food. That shows just how slow things are here. Tons of police checkpoints reported now in odd places, looking for their extra income. No way its advisable to drive a motorbike while drunk or without a license here now.

It possible that High Season will come now, because of Test and Go allowing more tourists to come to Thailand.Test and Go was lukewarm. The original scheme was better and more economical. There are more girls in the LK Metro gogo bars than I expected to see but really a gogo bar is nothing more than an indoor beer bar without the loud music and drunk girls dancing. I don't see it booming with customers. It's the equivalent of what girls would have said the worst day in low season would be like. Personally I don't care about the number of customers. The fewer the better. Bar owners, managers, and girls care about number of customers. Customers don't.

Most men under 40 don't have the liberty to spend 4+ weeks to burn in Patts.

With many people now working from home permanently only having to show up for meetings in Zoom calls it's not difficult to have extended trips. I know a few guys doing this. Only problem is 9-4 in the USA means you may have to be available for meetings from 9 pm to 4 am Thailand time. That would suck but doable.

So I'm staying out in Jomtien, I like the laid back atmosphere here and since the gogo's aren't letting their girls dance and soi 6 is a shell of itself I figure I'm not missing much. I did make it out to Viper Bar, a new gogo in Jomtien and was sadly unimpressed. You'd think a new gogo would go out of their way to hire in some lookers at least for a few weeks, instead it was filled with very average looking girls too desperate for lady drinks. The plus side is the beer I bought and the ladydrink I bought for one of the few 'ok lookers' only cost me 240 baht. Won't be heading back there again.

Today I decided to see just where the baht buses on Jomtien Beach road actually ran. Climbed in one and it went down and down, turned left up past the Viper Bar and kept going another block until it turned left. Didn't stop until I hit the buzzer to get off at soi 6. Best 10 baht I've ever spent. So I'm walking down soi 6 and it seems like more bars are opening but maybe only a few guys in each bar. Made my way to Playpen which seemed to have a good amount of girls and there was only 2 guys in the place when I got there. Girls were having a fun time dancing to the music so I stuck around and gave one of the girls a covid injection just to help out the Thai economy. A good two hours had gone by when I decided to call it an early night, decided to take the baht bus down beach road and see what there was to see. The beach road girls are out again, not in numbers but a good 30 or so from soi 6 to walking street. Talent was mostly the dregs unfortunately. On the bar side there were a few bars spread out with a ton of girls but again not too many guys. Made my way to WS and hit the buzzer to get out and walked up the road a ways to catch another baht bus back to Jomtien. One came by 10 minutes later and took me almost to the door of my condo. Not a bad roundtrip for 30 baht.

I just really enjoy the atmosphere and loud dance music in gogo bars. Others don't. I'm going to a gogo bar as entertainment and to kill time. I'm not rich and I'm pretty cheap but buying a gogo girl a lady drink here or there doesn't bother me as long as I get a heck of a lot of entertainment value for my money. I used to easily justify lady drinks in a gogo bar when they were 80 or 100 baht but now they are 160 to 220 baht. I now cringe if my bar tab is over 2000 baht and that's even if I'm in a gogo bar for hours and have 5 girls with me. I'd rather buy myself a drink and tip the 5 girls 100 baht each. Much cheaper that way. If girls still want drinks over my tip I send them away to another customer to get a drink and they return within 15 minutes. I treat it like a game. I am not hurt if one of the girls I'm with goes elsewhere for a drink or gets barfined. Everyone is replaceable and if there are no girls at that gogo bar for the night there are over 1000 other bars in Pattaya I can go to..Don't the girls have drink quotas? Drink quotas depends on the bar and if the girl is on a contract. Most girls I sit with never worry about meeting quotas as they are the better looking ones. Yes there is the odd girl who prefers a drink to meet her quota. I just tell her to keep moving and come back in 15 minutes after she got her drink. Never had a mamasan/manager/waitress confront me with what I'm doing but I'm a familiar face in Pattaya gogo bars.

My understanding from talking to expats who have lived in Thailand for many years was the owners have not allowed Thai men in bars for many years as they frequently misbehaved and many of the Thai woman did not like it because they were exposed to possible revealing of their occupation and place of work leading to other unintended consequences. Also, in the past there were potential violent incidences between Thai men and ex pats and other farangs due to cultural and language differences.

So what has changed since Covid? Nothing! So this is not a positive development.

Feels like the bar owners are so desperate for customers that they have eased their stance on this long held position. No good will come of this.

Ladies working in Thai bars either don't go with customers, or their Thai boyfriends don't care if they go with customers. You might get some resentment from Thai customers that you have the money to buy lady drinks. And that resentment might, in rare occasions, lead to violence. But the odds are much lower than if a Thai boyfriend saw his bargirlfriend going with a Farang customer in a Farang bar.

If you work for a USA company and have technical information, you might need to deal with export control laws. That is important and can be a pain in the ass. I don't know if other countries have similar laws.

Not so much because of face-to-face meetings, as the majority of them can be done with Zoom, but it's more a 'social cohesion' thing. He wouldn't like it when a part of his employees would work abroad, a part of them at home, and another part in the office. Ideally he likes all of us to come to the office as much as possible. Pre-Covid anyway. In the past two years he didn't mind, and even encouraged people to work from home, but now that the restrictions are lifted more and more, I'm sure he expects us to come to the office again in the near future. If we're lucky we are allowed to work at home for one or two days a week.

And the tax reasons that SinfullyKorean already mentioned, could also be an objection.

It can create frictions HR don't want to have to deal with. One must be in a very special situation or status to do so, as well as outperforming so bosses close eyes (up to a certain extent). I had such sort of privilege but always worked out not to show off and looked after business even if I was on short holiday breaks during overseas trips, for instance.

Pre-COVID I think it was difficult to find employers who allowed digital nomads. Now with offices closing everywhere things have changed. I'm sure we all have enough transferable skills that if we really wanted to find a job where we could work digitally from Thailand we could.

In Pattaya, things are way different than in BKK. I ended up walking and walking all the time on the first day. 10 Baht bus is superb too.

Yea everything (Food, Room, Girl) here is super cheap. I paid 500 bar fine and 1000 to the girl last night. They agree to 1000 right away as 800 is also offered to them by some. I like this pricing for sure. In BKK I had to pay up 2000 + 700 barfine. Street hookers are a way different story but I have had very bad experiences from street hookers (you can read those adventures in Bangkok thread) and so I will stick to Bargirls only.

Can someone give me better suggestions about things? Where to get better girls? I am picking them from the 4 to 5 open bars on Soi 6. I know Soi 8 is also open. Anything else I am missing?

I certainly hope you don't go to Soi Kophai 10 to find Camel Toe. You may not find it. Camel Toe is on Soi Suk Sabai Villa. It's on the other side of Pattaya. Unless there is something new there are no other clubs or bars anywhere near it. Just a bunch of run down houses and a sports field.

Over the next three weeks I'll be posting a diary of my time in Thailand. I chose to fly in to Phuket and stay in Krabi under the sandbox scheme.

I had to have a negative PCR test within 72 hours of travelling to Thailand and then I had another PCR test on arrival at Phuket Airport. It was extremely efficient and quick. Then I got taxied to my hotel in Krabi where I had to stay in my room for 8 hours waiting for the result with my fingers crossed. It came back negative which meant I could holiday as normal.

If you've never been to Krabi. I couldn't recommend it more, it has some of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. I stayed in Ao Nang where there's even a small beer-bar scene called RCA. I even had a 'happy ending' massage on my final night, to get me in the mood for my time in Pattaya.

Then on day 5 I had my third PCR test at the medical centre near my hotel. The whole process took about three minutes and again I tested negative which meant on day 7 I was allowed to travel anywhere in Thailand.

February 21.

I flew with Vietjet to Bangkok and descended down to level 1 at Suvarnabhumi Airport, turned left and walked all the way down to exit 7. There is a booth selling bus tickets to Hua Hin and Pattaya and my ticket cost 130 baht for the 90 minute journey. I'm staying at LK Metropole, right in the heart of the action, and my room was 1000 baht a night. I've got a huge bed, a balcony overlooking the pool, a safe, cable TV and a fridge.

It was 6. 30 pm by the time I unpacked and after a quick bite to eat at Subway I was ready for my first foray in to Pattaya's nightlife since my last trip to Thailand seven years ago. I started on Soi LK Metro, a favourite of mine pre-pandemic. It's an L-shaped road of gogo bars but most of those on the road leading to soi Diana seemed closed. My favourite though, Crystal Club, was open and there were six girls sat on stools outside, including one that had a spectacular resemblance to the lovely Aom, who I bar-fined from this very same establishment seven years earlier. It couldn't be her, surely?

The road leading to soi Buakhao was much more lively with lots of bars open. It's worth pointing out though that although these gogo bars are open, they aren't operating as gogo bars. They are essentially beer bars with girls available. Certainly there aren't the number of girls before covid but there aren't the same number of customers either. I saw a few pretty faces as I passed each bar.

A few bars on soI Buakhao had lots of girls outside, screaming 'velcommmm' to any passing men. I turned left in to Tree Town and was very impressed. When restrictions are lifted, this will be the place to be. There are lots of large beer bars and a big central food court in the middle. Most bars had maybe 10 girls but because they were so big, seemed empty. When all of the girls return soon, this place will be buzzing.

As is always the case, there were some nice ones. The prettiest I saw were sitting with customers though. What are the odds?

The time had come to choose a bar to go to. I decided to backtrack to LK Metro and go to Crystal Club. I didn't see the Aom lookalike and the mamasan showed me to a seat inside. There were only two girls, both sat with customers. No girls followed me inside, so I sat alone like Billy-no-mates! Since there were no girls dancing, I was tempted to ring the bell to buy all girls on stage a drink! I suppose when the number of girls is down, the bar needs them all out front to attract customers.

I went outside and sat on a stool. I got chatting with the mamasan, who introduced herself as Mama Boom and the Aom lookalike walked past and beamed me a radiant smile. I didn't hesitate and invited her over for a drink. My Chang beer cost 80 baht and her ladydrink was 175. I no longer use girl's real names to protect their innocence, but Aom 2 was lovely up close and had a knockout smile. We went inside and at 8. 30 pm four girls started dancing on the corner stages. They weren't wearing skimpy gogo outfits, they wore dresses but it was nice to see. Ironically Jesse J's 'It's not about the money, money, money' song was playing, perhaps the least appropriate song for a gogo bar ever!

Aom 2 was a sexy mover and smiled down almost constantly to me from the stage, a promising sign, so I decided to barfine her. The barfine was an eye-watering 800 baht and she quoted 2000 short-time and 3000 long-time. I countered with my usual 1500 'plus good tip if you make me smile' and she agreed.

It was early so we decided to go to a few more bars. Sugar Sugar is another popular gogo bar on LK Metro that is masquerading as a beer bar. I saw a big-boobed hottie walk past but of course she didn't have eyes for me as I had a female companion. Aom 2 then marched me to Pattaya Beach Club, which is an open-aired nightclub, surrounding a pool, right in the heart of Tree Town. It was heaving with people and Aom 2 and I spent the next two hours dancing. There was a live DJ and fantastic lighting. I noticed a lot of single girls sat around too, so I suspect this place has pickup potential.

What a place! And what an enjoyable first night in Pattaya.

But it wasn't over yet. Despite the short walk, Aom 2 insisted we get a motorbike taxi back to my hotel as her feet hurt. I bet that's the easiest 60 baht fare that driver has ever had! Back in the room we showered and only then I noticed what an amazing body she had, with full breasts and nipples like bullets. The sex was good. She rode me Asian cowgirl to start, then I flipped her on her back and fucked her in mish, her theatrical groans loud enough to wake the first four floors of the hotel at least. I slept well and woke to a ping from my mobile phone. It was Aom 2 asking what I was up to. Last night she told me it was her day off today and although it was tempting to meet up, I didn't want to focus on just one girl.

I had a few chores I needed to do. Get some cash out, drop some laundry off and record some videos for my friend's 'Eyes of Owen' channel.

My plan for the afternoon was to go to soi 6. I've been off-the-radar for six years because I was in a long-term relationship. Even though the girl was gorgeous and 15 years younger than me, I often craved for just one more afternoon on soi 6!

Now it was about to happen. At 2. 30 I walked up soi Diana to 2nd Road and had to wait all of 30 seconds for a songthaew. I was excited as I rang the buzzer and stepped off at the top of soi 6, next to Corner Bar.

For those of you who have never been, soi 6 is a long street of short-time bars. Girls usually sit in front of the bars on stools and if you see one you like, you can take her upstairs to a room. Although it has a reputation as a seedy anything-goes place, I went with one of the most beautiful girls I've ever been with in Thailand on this very road.

As always, I started with a recce, walking the entire distance of the street to get a feel. The first half of the road still feels sleepy with a lot of the bars closed. I passed Tomcats, Showgirls, Soho and Smoke & Mirrors. Normally there would be lots of girls but it was almost empty. But things rapidly improve when you get about halfway down, to a junction with Spider Bar. All of a sudden, for about 50 meters, you're transported back in time to soi 6 pre-pandemic. The bars are busy and there are lots of girls out front trying the seduce you inside their bar.

A few of them shouted 'Hello, hansum' to me as I walked past, despite the fact I was wearing a mask!

I continued walking, past bars called Lust, Illusion, Lollipop, Hotshots, The Pussy Club and Wicked until I reach Beach Road. Generally I was impressed. Things are picking up and I saw some pretty young girls.

I back-tracked all the way up soI 6. 1 which is an alleyway where ladyboys hang out. A particularly masculine looking one with tits like bowling balls seemed to be a big fan of poultry because she boasted about the size of her cockerel.

So which bar would I go to first? Repent had a lively group of about 15 young girls outside so I walked in claimed a table. My Chang beer cost 95 baht and I was soon joined by an older girl with temptingly large natural breasts. My last day in Pattaya would prove to be a frustrating one with one of my worst experiences at a bar in SE Asia.

But first I met Sam for breakfast at a place he recommended on soi 13 called The Sportsman. I had a decent full English and two cups of tea for 170 baht.

We had a nice leisurely walk along the beach, past 'the oldest bar in Pattaya', Tahitian Queen, and had a cold beer in a nice relaxed beer-bar complex overlooking the beach. Sam then walked me around Central mall which struck me as a good place to take a girl. There is a cinema on the top floor, a bowling alley, arcade, lots of places to eat and of course plenty of shops. On second thoughts, maybe it isn't a good place to take a girl.

I said 'maybe in a while' but she kept pestering me for one. She was cute but far too commercial, so I paid my chit and left. The bars were closing down when I stepped outside.

What a disappointing night. Fair to say Sunday night is sleepy at the moment but I think it was just one of those nights we chose bars poorly (especially the awful Sexy Bar).

Tomorrow I go to Bangkok and then I plan to head up Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. I'll post reports on their respective pages. Afterwards I hope to return to Pattaya for at least another week to end my trip. By that time the bars will be able to stay open until midnight I believe, which will certainly help.
