This off topic perhaps, but just my two baht worth on medical. Am a huge medical tourist . Whenever I head to Thailand (or RP / Indo), twice or three times a year I always get my teeth cleaned for about 800 baht. Often swap a filling for about the same price. As I posted before, one of my bar gals had a molar which was black. I paid a dentist for her molar pulled, x-rays, and medicine (800/b to pull, 200/b for X-ray, and 200/b for medicine for total 1200 baht). Cost in the States ... completely nuts!
Here an example how I compare the US and Thai medial. Whenever in Thailand, get some Diclox. Sometimes I get skin problems which can get serious. Cost is figure 2 baht a tablet, so whenever I get an inflammation, cost in the 60 baht range. Few years ago in the States had an inflammation. Of course, cannot get generic diclox over the counter. So appointment to see some damn doctor. They wanted to know my life history, and of course the most important: medical insurance. Finally out the door. Got the diclox prescription. Go to pharm. Not only lost a day, and cost was over $200.
So I do ask ... which system is better. Gee, I wonder: 2 minutes and 60 baht or loss of a day and cost over $200. Cost of medical in the States would kill anyone. And now under Patriot, anyone who brings diclox / any medical scripts back to the States is practically considered a terrorist !
Anyway, don't get me started. Point is that am a huge proponent of medical tourism, and Thailand is a great place for it.

Your insight regarding this topic of being a big fan of " medical tourist " and your above opinion is only a small percentage of what the dental and medical is all about.
My views are from living here studing their system and have studied all the major medical insurance policies that are offered. I have visited Bumrungrad posing as a writer so that I can get a free tour of their entire facility and have visit all the major hospital in Pattaya, Chon Buri, Sattahip and BPH, and have personally been raked over by BPH and insurance companies.
Regarding Dental, there are many facilities to choose from and when it comes to Thai own and run many don't use proper cleaning methods products and nearly all can give you a cheap cleaning but rarely do they even polish your teeth or give your a proper preventive examine like dept measurements for your gums. Even many of the western foreign owns have their short comings and the many that I have visited I have narrow down to two that I feel comfortable visiting in Pattaya. My views are from having worked in a family dental lab on and off and from a few of my cousins being dentist is the U.S. the general consenses from them is that if there is one good profession to be in that is dentistry since it is a " license to steal " . But in the end in Thailand it is still cheap enough that is it cheaper than the deductiable you have to pay in the U.S. for the same dental work.
Now when it comes to medical the great thing about Thailand is you can get lots of pills and if you needs pills like antibiotics, lipitor, it is available and many are cheap. But as noted it is a very small percentage of what the system is all about! You will find it nearly impossible to locate a medical building loaded with all kinds of specialty doctors like in the U.S. in which you can be refer too! Here you go to a nice big hospital see a Internal medicine doctor and most likely will learn as they go along. When it comes to prices yes I will join you in beating down the U.S. for it's high cost but when you hear people say the U.S. has the best medical system and research and you live, see experience what I have here in Thailand, particularly here in Pattaya you won't convince me in a million years that it isn't! There are only two hospital I would trust in Thailand in general and that is Bumrungrad and the hospital the King stays other than that most are all show and no go. But if I got sick or hurt and have no say in the matter I will save my energy and just pray for the best?
You quoted only one point of view in a topic that was discussed back in late September. More reading and RTFF is necessary but if you are a tourist and know what kind of pills you want you are in good hands other than that start praying if it becomes more than a pill!

Can anyone recommend a good dentist in Pattaya?
I used to visit a dentist in the building complex next to McDonalds on 2nd Road, but on my last visit I found that it had closed down.

On this thread go back to 8/6/10 19:31, these are two of best I have found.
Particularly if you are in a hurry and need a root canal, crown etc... they have a on-site lab and could do crowns in 2 days use German etc..

Just to warn you guys, this weekend is a large Buddhist Holiday. All Bas will be closed and beer sale will be stopped so stock up. You can still buy beer at Mom and Pop Thai stores but there are not many around if you’re staying in the heart of Pattaya. Government offices will be closed on Monday so if you need a visa like I do think ahead. 500 Bath fine if you go over.

Evian, The Coconut Bar, alias Beach road, there will be plenty of girls there for you.
Also many of the bars will have girls there but not selling alcohol, just cups of coffee.:)

Keep in mind that while the numbers of girls available overall is fairly 'normal' (not what it once was years ago, but not terrible), there will be very few girls after about 11:00 or 12:00 PM. At around that time there is a regular crackdown and roundup, which results in a 500 baht fine for the girls (or presumably some time in the jail), so most girls disappear around that time. If you watch at that time you can often see them running away from the beach rapidly in fear of the cops.

In any case, be warned. I've often found myself unable to get laid after midnight, which is really my main time for the practice.

As Bumholes knows very well. It works in reverse too! Innocent girls gets pregnant in the village same things happens the Thai man or usually boy takes off. The girl has the baby and leaves to work in P4P, the parents are left with the child to raise with the promise they will send money back. Basically the child leaves the child it is a sad revolving door! With very basic education the parents in their hearts know whats the new profession but the culture allows it to slide as long as the money comes in. Years down the road the child knows who is the real mother but in their hearts feel more attached to the grandparents than to the birth mother. ( Clarification not always the case ). There are some evil hearted grandparents that take advantage if the girl is successful and start sending money. They use the child to obtain more money each month using excuses that they are sick etc,,,etc,,,so they don't have to work! you get the point. And god help them or you if the grandparents found out that they latch on to a Farang!

It IS Chulalonghorn Day, which itself has no bearing on alcohol sales. However it it the night of the full moon, and the end of Buddhist Lent - a very special religious day, and it is for this reason that alcohol sales might be banned in various places.

Actually it isn't that unusual for them to go back to their hometown for a couple of weeks or so. But mostly if you don't see your favorite girl, chances are very high she's in jail.
Under the new crackdown, when the girls are rounded up they get drug tested and sent to jail for around 1-3 months if found positive, and merely fined 500 baht if negative. This is the main reason the numbers, quality, and service levels are down so much from the old days. It is quite natural for parents of any girl to see their daughter well settled with money and family. It is also natural for the girl to fool around in teenage years and try to find one or many boyfriends depending on how her sexuality is. Along the way an uncle or neighbour or local money man will hit the jackpot and get into her pants. Locals are not bothered with age or minor problem. Once the girl gets pregnant most boys leave them although some will marry and have a family life. Grand parents in asian culture are quite happy to raise the child. I have heard even from people who are married and working in BKK saying their children are at home in the provinces raised by grand parents.
As for P4P girls once the child is born she is literally pushed out of home to find a job to support her child if her parents are poor. Once out there is no ready employment. But many start out working in factories under dingy conditions for small money. Some not all get into the P4P trade. Once they see the good money it is very unlikely they will leave the business unless she finds a foreigner who marries her and takes her out of the country.
Western people compared to asian men have no qualms about marrying a girl irrespective of her past.

When I was going to pay my bill I mentioned it to the waitress and asked if I needed to pay for the lady drink. Another girl corroborated, and the waitress said no problem and didn't make me pay.

I found myself sitting at her Bangkok Bank branch as she asked me how to invest the 100’s of thousands she had in the bank. We started talking about that she intended to stop working in January for good(she actually showed me a notarized agreement that she was buying some land in her hometown in January 2011 to build her house on). I started planning a future with her that included sharing our lives. Ensuring we would be happy here and overcome the pitfalls that most relationships in Thailand experience. Loving and sharing but keeping our assets separate.
Then it happened.
She went to work one day and for some reason I found myself on a baht bus there to the massage parlor she worked at. I don’t know why I did it. As I stood in front of it my throat closed and my stomach turned to knots. I knew that this women I cared so deeply for was inside doing BJ, FS, Doggy etc with countless men that day. And the day before. And for the previous 12 months. I thought of how many men she had slept with and what specifically done with them to accumulate the hundreds of thousands (if not more given she has two new motorbikes and is buying a new care next month) of baht she had accumulated. As time went one(I must have stood in front of this parlor for 30 minutes with this pit in my stomach) I saw countless man-Indians, overweight Germans, loud Americans and Japanese-all streaming in and out. And I saw this women I cared for being fucked by each and every one of them. She had explained to my previously that she was careful with her work-no anal, no kissing, no DATY and no BJ sans condom. Yet for some reason that did not soothe my pain at all.
I suddenly felt the cold chill of the human side of prostitution. The thrill of the 500 baht FS girl, the anal, facials all suddenly disgusted me. I was disgusted with myself. The women I cared so deeply for was a pawn to men just like me. When I had sex with her I was always careful to ask her if it was ok-after all she was having sex all day(the girls work 11 hour shifts at the high end parlors) and she could be sore etc.
I then saw myself getting on a baht bus, going to my hotel and leaving Pattaya. Something changed in me. And I don’t think I will ever return to Pattaya or speak to her again. Not because she is a bad person. But because it is impossible to love one of these women when they are doing what they do. Even after they stop (and I wholeheartedly believe she was going to stop in January as she said) to live with several more months of her being fucked to death by countless men is too much for me.
The moral of the story is to not fall in love with any of these girls. You will wind up broken hearted, disgusted with yourself and a changed man. The whole problem with your assessment is you saw 100's of men Indians, Arabs, Japanese, and over weight Germans going after her. Now the ignorance is you don't know any of them...you assumed all men that she had are bad and low life's.
If only you knew any of the guys better...most of them probably will be better than us in behavior and respect to the girls. I have met iranians, Japanese, Americans, Thais, english, filipinos, chinese etc mongers and all guys were top notch guys who respect women...mongering is not a bad choice or hobby...

I do not know why you worry about how many guys she slept with. It is her job. She survived and made money before you came along. She will survive long time after you are gone. Unless you meet and marry a virgin girl you are not sure how many guys any girl slept with or continue to sleep with even if they are not working girl. When you go out on a date in your hometown do you ask the girl how many men she slept with? Even if she slept with you and you like her are you going to analyze her sex life before you?
If you really and truly in love with girl knowing what she does for a living you should be thankfull if she loves you. Why didn't you give her money and take care of her so that she can quit her job and be with you. I do not think you are thinking of long time married relationship with her. You just want to use her services like everybody else and dump her. First of all you knew what she does and knowingly wanted a relationship with her. It is not like she conned you into thinking she is a different type of girl. Nobody knows what stupid empty promises you made to her. You knew her job when you met her. You knew what she was doing each day she went to work. OK, you kept your head in the sand and kept yourself in denial. BUT, she is still the woman you loved so don't be silly with yourself.
Rationalise it logically. She fucks for a living and comes home to you. It is her job; she has no emotional attachment. Is that better or worse than the millions of woman round the world who go to swingers parties and get gangbanged and still have a happy loving marriage? For your lady to be in the open with you is a thousand times better than the millions of women who have affairs behind their partner's back.
Bear in mind many of the working girls in Pattaya and all around the world have a partner and family in their private life.

First to the poster who called me a low life-you are perhaps the worst of them all. My reaction as I stood at the MP was one of shock. I never claimed to not know what she did for a living-but rather when the true reality of it hit home it was a serious jolt. Personally if you GF is genuinely up for it (and some will just talk about it as a fantasy but not be so keen in reality), i would go for it. I think it can potentially be alot of fun. 1. yes, you should read TFF as you already know, and if you are not now in Pattaya, there is no rush to get this info.
2. If you are in Pattaya, I am surprised you don't already know how to accomplish what you are asking about.
3. And I am serious here: If your hotel is in Pattaya, just walk outside and look around. There should be a decent collection everywhere. I have never gone more than 2 minutes without coming across a "decent" lady in the game.

If you are prepared to excersise patience and put your percieved beliefs in SW`s aside you may just find what you are looking for. Think of the Beach road as the Coconut bar. There are many gems out there, night and day. Simply take their number and give them a call whenever required, as i do. I`m no expert on Pattaya, the girls in the clubs and bars are no cleaner than your average Beach road freelancer(my opinion)
Apart from this head to Walking st(night). Be prepared to pay more, many girls about circulating (hot-lapping), sit your ass on a barstool and watch the parade, from there you have a world of choice.
On making my way home to Soi 6 from Walking st, exhausted, i still think ahead and take numbers, each afternoon i simply get on the the blower, the girl is here at my hotel in minutes. Try Tehitian Queen on beach road. Open from early afternoon. In fact the daytime girls are much nicer than evening in my opinion. Good atmosphere. The girls only dance in underwear or bikinis and not topless but there are usually a lot of nice girls there.

Spent 10 days in Pattaya with my nephew, son, and two friends, playing the tour guide.
Pattaya is simply unfathomable, the changes that take place over a few months, indeed, weeks, are amazing. For my own purposes, I have broken it down into Glitz (hyped up go-go's discos), middle of the road general fun places (e.g., Soi Metro, Soi 6, Beer Bars, etc.), and of course the discount section i.e., Coconut Bar (Beach Road).
Visited Champaign on Soi Metro to see if my "Uma Thurman" was there (gal looks just like her), and she was. What a transformation. Last time I saw her she had been working there about 2 months, shy, tentative, and somewhat sweet. Now, she was up on stage shoving her derriere into the face anyone sitting at the bar. Evolution, or devolution, take your choice.
On this swing, I probably had the most fun on Soi 6. Met a voluptuous, and I mean voluptuous, gal in the third bar on the right as you are walking toward beach road. Her name was Nit. It depends. I've had 2 shots without asking at some Petchaburi Rd soapies. At Catherine it's actually standard.

We chit chatted a bit more and I gave her 100 Baht for her time. She was very surprised and refused to take it. But I insisted saying that I appreciated her great candor and she literally made my evening very memorable.

The wait is over... finally hit Pattaya!!
Day 1
Landed at BKK at 20.00. Had a pre-arranged cab waiting at Gate 4.
Driver spoke very little English, so on with the iPod and settle down for the 2hr drive.
Got to my guesthouse about 10.30. Had a quick beer and up to the room for the triple S.
By now it was midnight and I was jetlagged upto the eyeballs, so decided to leave the mongering until tomorrow...or so i thought.

So I'm on my frist trip to Asia, and from reports I chose Pattaya. I've only been here for 2 days, and this place is amazing! I've been to brazi, Dominican Republic, etc. And they don't compare. This forum has helped me quite a bit for this trip. So I knew what to expect, but I didn't realize how sweet this place is until I got here.
This is day 2. 5 out of 16 and I'm love'n it!
A few observations:
-Bring your own condoms. My luggage got lost (which they payed me 2500b for), and I had to buy from 7/11 and the very first girl I busted right threw the condom. 20yr old thight hot Girl freaked out. I had to then hear about her kid, and a bunch of other shit. She wanted me to go to the hospital to get checked, but I wasn't spending my first full day in Pattaya in a hospital, in the same cloths I traveled in. There's a Barber Shop on the South side of Pattaya South Road just a few steps off 2nd road. I've never tried it, but passed it every day on my way to the internet cafe next door.

My friends and I have always gone to the beauty salons to get a hair cut, shave, wash, or nails. It's really fun to be around those chicks plus I like to hit on them so it all works out. I always go for a store that is a bit away from the beach and that I pick out, not that some tout talks me into going into.
It is not the Indian guy (saying Indian since 99% of them are Indian) in the store with all the material that makes the suit, he gives the material to a Thai tailor that takes it home and makes the suit there.
They should at a minimum do three fittings of the suit for you, better if they do more.
...I also still cannot find a barber [on Soi Buakhow]...
There are two barber shops on the North section of Soi Buakhow near Pattaya Klang. One is located directly across from the Bank of Ayutthaya branch (the bank with the all yellow facade), and charges 60 baht for a standard haircut. The other one is on the same side of the Soi a few hundred meters closer to Pattaya Klang that charges 70 baht for a haircut or shave. I've been satisfied with both.

If you have a bit of time in SE Asia, and don't mind a week mainly not mongering, do a quick side trip to Hoi An in Vietnam.
The 2 suits I got 'tailored' in Thailand many years ago for over $100 Aus (admittedly, it was Bangkok not Pattaya), and all inexpensive suits (less than $250 Aus) I have seen from Thailand were not well tailored, had tacky buttons etc. On the other hand the two I got tailored for $50 each in Hoi An still look sharp, and are in good condition (ok, the pocket lining has busted in one - but externally looks good still). I got this price because a few of us ordered suits (8 all up), shirts (for $10, 9 all up), coats (for $30 - $50, 3 made), some ties etc, then did a fair bit of bargaining.
It is fairly inexpensive to get to from BKK - around $40 - $50 from Air Asia, BKK to HCMC, around $20 - $30 Jetstar from HCMC to Danang, $15 taxi Danang to Hoi An. Although there is no p4p in Hoi An, Danang is (apparently) one of the places in Vietnam it is fairly easy to find. More importantly, the culture, food... and young tourist party crowd, are spectacular.
I was in Rolling Stone Bar on Soi 8. One pretty girl caught my eye and she grabbed me. I took a drink and asked her whether she wants to go with me. She was quite attractive and had a good attitude. Can anyone advise on whether the condo rental market is hot or cold. I need a place for 2 months, Dec/Jan, and wonder if I am taking too much of a chance not booking in advance. Stayed at White Inn on 2nd same time last year but by the end of the 2nd month was way too loud. Great place for a couple of weeks though. No hassle bringing in 2 girls at a time. It would be pretty difficult to pick a WORST time of the year to visit Pattaya than on New Years. It is the biggest holiday in Thailand and somewhere between 25% to 50% of the girls goes home to visit their families for a few weeks, months or never return at all.
Also around this time of the year the bars try to make a lot more money and double their bar fines and the girls are also a lot less negotiable. You would certainly be better off here before Christmas, they for the most part do not know what it is or celebrate it.

Absolutely correct. Prices are up accross the board during New Year when demand peaks, so expect to pay more for hotels, flights, girls - while the quality of service tends to nosedive (no pun intended) during the same period. You can still have a great time but be prepared to be more selective and spend extra money.
I have the luxury of spending ten months of the year in Asia and I hug the low season as a rule because costs are down and the quality of service is generally better. Luckily the high season in Thailand and the Philippines (Nov-March) is the low season in places like Vietnam (outside of the Hanoi and HCMC) in my experience, so bargains are always available and the girls a little hungry.
The other non-mongering factor to bear in mind is that the "high season" in Thailand reflects demand and not necessarily the weather. The weather is hot and fine in Pattaya in December but down south in places like Samui and Koh Phangan the monsoon kicks in around November just when the so-called "high-season" begins. Consequently a lot of naive Europeans end up experiencing a very soggy, expensive holiday simply because they assumed the high season correlates with good weather. Not always the case in LOS.

AGREED! Songkran is terrible! One day is fun, everything else after that is not as fun as it sounds, luckily Songkran in Pattaya starts the day after it ends in Bangkok. So if you can only go during this time you can avoid it by splitting time in Bangkok.

AVOID.Its an experience. Soi 6 on Songkran can be nice, semi-wholesome fun. Unless your in a BKK shopping center, BTS, your likely to get wet during Songkran in Thailand or you will be crossing the street often to avoid groups of kids/people stationed at street corners and riding in roving pick ups.

Thanks all, I think I will buy a Kodak Touch Pocket 1080p Camcorder before I leave for Pattaya in a couple of weeks.
Buy a better camcorder would be my advice, it is an investment that is worth it if you want to get some good movie clips for your collection. Also, get one that has internal memory rather than one that records onto discs since switching discs in the middle of the action is no fun.
Get a tripod too. They are a bit costly but critical for good angle filming and holding the camera during the action yourself is really hard and takes away from the enjoyment of the activity.
You get much better movie clips when it's daylight outside and you have the curtains open than if you turn on every single light in your hotel room. Obviously, always have the light behind the camera and no strong lights in front of the camera. I can't emphasize enough how important good lighting is to making fun home movies.
The easiest movies to make are stationary camera BJ clips and reverse cowgirl. How I miss this city eagerly looking forward to visiting in 2011.
This is a delayed general report of my last two visits in 2009 March and October.
My experience always has been best at soi 6 for daytime fun. The quality of girls and the relaxed atmosphere make it a lot of fun! Also if you reach at 2 pm you find the girls fresh and a lot more responsive in bed. The rates are also very standard 700 + 300 baht.
Sabai Dee massage always finds a place in my trip one visit for a soapie experience is a must. 1800 baht is also quite cheap as compared to some parlours in Bangkok.
Evenings are spent in Beer Garden in a very relaxed and fun atmosphere. I love the feel of the place and the food is also top notch. You occassionally find a good looking girl at the bar but again great place for conversations and relaxed fun.
At night I head out to Lucifer, Insomnia, and Marine. Have really fond memories of some amazing girls I ve met in lucifer gyrating to great music. Love buying beers for women at this place. Just make sure that you like the girl by feeling her up and check the vibe before taking her to your hotel room at night which again is optional. The standard rate is that you pay 1000 baht in the morning for sex. Have met some lovely non- pro semi-pro girls here.

LT depends on the girl. If she is naive, horny and likes you she will stay LT. Many will stay LT if they think that you are going to be a repeat customer for the following nights. Generally they ask how many days you are going to be in town. As for me I always say a week even if I am leaving the next day.
Remember most of these girls are sexed out to start with. They are tired as well. Usually you get a pop at night and one in the morning. After that if the girl stays with you that means you may get one more. There are exceptions ofcourse. Some are real runners while others are more GFE.

I wouldn't know. Perhaps it's just poor maintenance, in that case? The fact is, neither the rooms, nor the pool, nor the breakfast restaurant, looked particularly appealing when I was there. I assumed that this was because the hotel, whilst well maintained, was a bit dated. But perhaps it's the other way round? Perhaps the hotel is relatively new, but sloppily maintained? In that case, the tropical heat and humidity quickly take their toll.

I often order a bottle of light beer at go gos since I also feel a bit full and bloated after a few days of downing loads of regular beer at go-gos and beer bars.
If I am go-go hopping one evening I will usually do the following:
1. Go in, stay standing and look around to see how many girls there are and how hot they are.
2. See if the farang crowd looks decent or if there are a bunch of loud and obnoxious people in there
3. If test 1 and 2 aren't met, then I will just walk out without sitting down. If not then I will take a seat and order myself a drink.

(There are loads of dive shops in Patts so take your pic. I do diving myself but don't go when I am in Patts since scuba diving boats usually leave at 9 in the morning which is too early for me after a night of partying, plus the diving of Patts is supposed to be poor since the water has bad visibility. Waters are calm though, so guess that it can be a good place to learn.
Be careful, there are loads of unserious dive operators in Thailand. Horror stories abound of faulty equipment and diving guides that know nothing about safety or how to put the assemble the diving equipment. It can't be much fun to be 60 feet under water (which is how deep you usually go on your second open water dive before you are certified) and then have your airflow abruptly stop and do a real emergency ascent to the surface.
Try to find one that is run by an ex-pat, and one that is sober, if that can actually be found in Pattaya... However, most scuba diving instructors are, IMHO, often a bit crazy. Make sure you meet the person that will be teaching you also before you pay. It might not be the owner.
Sign up for private classes rather than a group class since then you can have your lessons at a time that you chose, and you can learn quickly at your own pace rather than having to wait and learn at the pace of the slowest member in the group.
Also, get the book before you go so you can do the theory learning at home before your holiday. It's about 20 hours of reading and you can have more fun in Patts than reading about how a regulator functions or how to establish bouyancy.

...Only problem is it's damn expensive there to do Padi open water course in Pattaya. 14000 baht ($463!) compared to a little under 10,000 in Ko Tao. Sure, it might be cheaper to take the course on Koh Tao, but by the time you factor in the time to get there, the cost to stay there, and the lack of willing beautiful women to rub your tired muscles at night, Pattaya at 14000b for a course does not sound too bad.
However...
While the first part of the course is fairly pedestrian -- if you are serious about learning how to dive and earning the certification -- I'd be more concerned about the quality of the instruction and eventual diving locations than the price.

if you are a fan of body paint i guess this could be entertaining. to me, it was no big deal. one thing that detracts from the body paint show is that a guy comes on stage at the start to finish painting one of the girls. at first i thought they were just running behind in their preparations. but it's apparently part of the show. perhaps the theory is that some customers find it erotic to see the paint being applied. to me, it just a distraction. when i'm doing the sip and stare thing at a strip club or go-go bar the last thing i want is any male interruption -- whether it be yammering djs exhorting me to tip well, or waiters in lieu of waitresses.
after the shows the painted girls retire to the shower to wash up. in the champagne club, however, there is a plate glass window that allows the patrons to watch this from their seats. it usually seemed like there were two or maybe three girls in the shower following each show. so it would appear they take turns providing the post-show sudsy seduction. i don't recall that there was much girl-on-girl interaction during the showers. but it was still worth a look. the girls are of course hot. and the lighting inside the shower is such that their skin looks very nice indeed as they soap and scrub.
even though i visited early in the week the club was full. granted, it's not a large venue. but it's off the beaten path. so the crowd suggest to me that pattaya punters favor the place. bottled beer was 120 baht and there was a commendable lack of hassle. the waitresses didn't pressure me to buy more drinks, and the girls were willing to let me sit undisturbed. nice!
it has been reported there are short time rooms upstairs at the champagne club and some patrons were offered the chance to take the dancers up for a spin. supposedly this irked the authorities and sparked the recent raid. not sure why that would be. the "choose lady, have drink, go upstairs for short time" business model is well-entrenched on soi 6.
in any event, i didn't observe any customers headed upstairs during my time in the club. as a matter of fact, i didn't observe any customers headed out the front door with girls either. granted, the beer and the view drastically reduced my powers of observation. but i think it's fair to say there was a fair amount of "just looking" going on the nights i visited.
to be sure, i was new in town and definitely not up to speed. but it seemed to me the club attracted groups of guys who were well familiar with the scene in pattaya. they seemed to fit the profile of the long term resident or guys on extended holiday. watching them share a drink and a laugh i got the impression the club was a nice place to start the evening with a little "tune up" while enjoying some spectacular scenery in a low key environment. turnover seemed to be brisk. that said, nobody ever did or said anything to me that suggested i was not welcome. indeed, even though i was very new in town i had a great time.
i didn't pull from this club, so i cannot comment on what short time hotels might be available in the vicinity. nor can i provide any data on the bar fine or the going rates for the girls.
finally, i never stayed until closing time. but i was in a bar very close by (the oasis club - worth a look too) when the clock struck 2:00 a.m. the lights came up on the second and it was clear that it would not be wise to tarry.

i'm definitely a regular of champagne and i reckon, while not every girl is, there are some real stunners here, and the stunners are as good as some
of the 'jap' bars in ws. good naked shows too. some of the coyotes are lovely too. good atmosphere too. i wouldn't travel here if not in the soi diana area but worth a look if you are.
and i'd agree that oasis on a good night has some lovely girls too.

Yes, I've never understood why Jackson is prohibiting links to the other sites. Those of you that scuba dive will know that diving usually involves a long boat ride to the dive site, then a wait between dive 1 and dive 2 while you decompress, then a long boat ride home.
That time can be, well, put to productive use if you have taken a girl along with you on the boat I figure. Does anyone know of a scuba dive operator that is cool with this? Or even cooler, one that has a female diving assistant that comes along on the boat ride and as a special service blows the diver(s) during decompression time... :)

On Dec 5, it seems all the go-go bars were closed. Some convenience stores did not sell beer; some did. Restaurants were selling alcohol. Most open air bars were closed; Some of the open air bars were open with girls and alcohol, but the lights and music were turned off.
Other Bangkok post said this closing was due to election. Anyway, go-go bars were closed which sucks!
I hope everything goes back to normal on Dec 6.

I was in Pattaya earlier this year and remiss in posting my report. This was my first time in Thailand and first time mongering. I had less than a month to plan the trip so and was new to the forum so I took the easy (but more expensive) way by booking a couple of girls from Devil's Den.
I used their internet form to request Cake for an overnight (3, 500 BHT) and Rose the following 24hrs (7, 000 BHT). I wanted Cake for a "break-in" experience following a long trip and Rose had some great reviews. Unfortunately Rose was unavailable (she's gone from their site now) and I chose Bang instead based on her profile.
I also asked them to quote me have a driver and Cake pick me up at the airport given I was arriving at midnight, Cake was on the clock starting at 10pm, a beautiful welcome would be great, we could spend some time together during the long drive, and I wouldn't have to wait for her to arrive after checking in. I believe they quoted me 1, 800 BHT for the driver to pick Cake up in Pattaya, get me at BKK, and take us back to Pattaya (compared to the standard one-way 1, 200 BHT taxi fare). Seemed like a good deal to me for just an extra $20.
Night 1
Cake was very reserved in the car and I wasn't sure if that was because the driver was there. The next day, Bang told me that Cake was very nervous because this was her first airport pickup. So I'm not sure how the drive might work with someone else but we just cuddled and did some light touching.
We checked into the Tim Boutique together without incident (I set up my reservation for two people) and had a couple of rounds before crashing. We had one more round in the morning before she had to leave. Overall, she is attractive (as all DD girls) but definitely more nurturing and reserved, which is how she was described on their site reviews. In hindsight, perhaps I should have gotten someone a little more aggressive but I thought I would want her personality my first night.

I crashed and woke up around 5am for another round – she wasn't too happy about this round as she had only fallen asleep a little earlier as we were on the noisy bar side of the Tim hotel. It hadn't bothered me but then I can fall asleep with noise.
I managed a final round before we got some food at the great breakfast buffet and then she left. Maybe expensive by Thai standards but I certainly felt like I got my money's worth and had a great time before heading to Bangkok for some sightseeing and work.

What I am asking for is if anyone knows a dive shop in Patts that caters mainly to mongerers and is cool with you taking a girl with you to play with on the boat ride out, decompression, and boat ride back.
I have done loads of diving, and I agree that when you first come out of the water what you want to do is sit down and do nothing, then eat and drink something, but personally I find that decompression time gets a bit boring after I have had my lunch and then you have BS conversations to try to pass the time until it is time to get back in the water again. That time could be put to better use I think, but if someone wants to sit around and listen to boring stories about how some fat diver almost got trapped in a wreck while diving of Gallipoli instead of enjoying a BJ,"up to you mister".

I have been to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil many times over the last 6 years and I thought that it was heaven on earth. I loved the food, the termas, taking girls home, etc and when I first went there it was fairly cheap ($40 / termas session, $60 take home). Over the years though Rio has had massive inflation and the dollar has collapsed against their currency. For example 60 minutes at 4x4 went from R150 to R240 and the dollar went from 3. 15 to 1. 65 so in US$ prices have basically tripled from $47 to $145. I have always thought about going to Asia (either LOS or PI) but had heard some bad things from guys that had been there. Girls too shy, girls too small, no variety in ethnic types, flight too long, discrimination against farangs, etc. I also had spent a lot of time and money teaching myself Portuguese and did not know if I wanted to make the effort to learn another language (or languages since the providers in Asia tend to come from the provinces with their own dialects different from Thai or Tagalog).
Finally this year I bit the bullet and went out of my comfort zone and booked a trip to Thailand. I had a hard time at first because I was solo and the rules here seem to be different than Brazil but by the end of my week I was loving this place and already trying to figure out when I can come back.
I took girls from Walking Street beer bars, Walking Street go gos, and Soi 13/2 go gos. I also made a trip to Devil's Den. Other than DD I exclusively went LT. The beer bars are an interesting phenomenom to me. I like the fact that basically everyone is available. I had often wanted to bang waitresses, counter girls, etc in the Rio termas but that was not allowed. Taking girls home from termas was also not allowed although often done in secret. It was refreshing to go to the Thai system that is basically designed for takeout.
Like I said I had some issues in the first few days. I would go to a go go and try to talk to a girl and few flat out refused saying "I have period!" I estimate the 40% of the girls I spoke to those first few days had their period. Obviously some of them were lying but I could not figure out what the problem was. In all my trips to Mexico and Brazil I never had any sort of rejection like that at all. As it happened in order to find a taker I had to bar-hop to 3 or 4 bars before I found a mutually compatible girl. I also found it frustrating that when I took a girl they did not want to go straight back to get down to business but they wanted to go to the disco or another bar first to have a few drinks. Pricing was reasonable though. The go go bar fine was either 500 or 600 and the girls went LT for 1500-2000. I had thought that the girl fee was totally up to she and the client but some bars actually had a piece of paper with the girl fee written on it. 2000 for ST and 3000 for LT, for example but I found that I could just say to the girl or mamasan,"No. That is too much," and get significantly less.
I also got some frustration with pictures. I would ask girls if it was ok for me to take some. Some allowed naked shots with face, one allowed an underwear shot, some clothed. That was the girls that I took home. In the bars, however, one go go and one beer bar girl refused to talk to me any longer once I brought up the subject. Note I assured them no internet (sorry fellas) and even offered that they could leave their face out or remained clothed but the deal was off at this point.
I pulled my first beer bar girl a few nights into the trip. It was not from one of the screaming beer bars that seem designed for bar fines but a restaurant where they did not explicitly advertise that they wanted barfines. She wanted 1500 but I managed to get her out for 1200+300. We went to my hotel and she was very shy. She came out of the shower and into bed with a towel on. When I asked her to "smoke" (BJ) she flat out refused saying she did not do that. It took me at least a half hour to get her to kiss me. However once we got going it was very nice. We got off a session and then fell asleep. She cuddled very tight and did not mind me seeing her naked now even when we pulled off the blanket when it got too hot. We woke up in the morning and had round 2. I even got her to do a little female superior in that round. We laid around cuddling for a while and then did round 3. I was feeling very good. When she finally left at 4PM she asked for 1300. I happily gave it to her and considered giving her her initial offer of 1500 but she was very happy with the 1300.
To straighten myself out a bit I went to Devil's Den one day. That place was pretty good although pricey for Pattaya at 3600 for 2 girls and 90 minutes. This is actually significantly less than the price for 1 girl for 40 minutes in a Rio termas. It was the closest thing that I could find like a Rio termas although it was missing the element of being able to mingle with and feel up the girls for an hour or so before a session. I took 2 girls for a session and they were excellent. No shyness at all, both did anal, lesbian show, CIM, load swapping, etc. DD has a nice set-up. Although it is not an every day place for me I will definitely go back as maybe a once or twice per trip luxury.
My trip improved after the DD visit. When I went to the beer bars and go gos the girls seemed to start liking me and I was able to get some good sessions to finish the week. I paid between 1200 and 1500 + 300 barfine for beer bar girls and between 1500 and 2000 + 500-600 barfine for go gos with the closer to Walking Street ones getting more. It was some pretty good GFE and they usually stayed until quite late in the afternoon. I also starting picking them up later so there was less ability to bar-hop.
Overall by the end of my trip I was in a good groove and enjoying the place.
My thoughts about why it is better than Rio:
1) Price. Hotels a third the price of Rio apartments. Girls half the price or less.
2) LT option. Rio has no real LT option. Termas and agencies are basically ST. To get LT you have to get freelancers. I don't like freelancers. I like to have some accountability and some health checks.
3) Safety. See #2. Also, the streets were full of people 24 hours per day and walking distances less. I never felt in danger. Even the stray dogs were polite. Rio, however, sometimes resembles a war zone. Muggings and carjackings are common. Petty thievery, especially on the beach, is rampant. There have been several publicized hostage situations in Copacana hotels, a restaurant, and on buses in the last few years.
4) Go gos. These were great. Although I missed the groping ability of termas the go gos were a close second. Buy a girl a drink and you can grope her all you want. I had some that refused to leave me alone after one drink. I had to send forcefully send them away. Note I came into this bar with another girl so they knew they weren't going to be barfined. These were just having fun, giving me lap dances, letting me feel them up, etc for 20 minutes or more all for a 110 baht lady drink.
5) Beer bars. A nice cheap alternative to go gos. The girls were only slightly less attractive than go gos but much shyer. Sometimes shy is nice.
6) Along with #5 it is nice that almost everyone is available.
7) Numbers. Are there hundreds of go gos? Thousands of beer bars? I don't know. It seemed that way. And all in walking distance to each other. Rio has about 8 main termas. 2-3 main freelance bars, and dozens of low level termas that I have never been to because I like quality in my vacation. Plus in Rio these venues are spread out and require transportation to reach.
8) Niceness. The Thai girls were truly nice and aimed to please in every way only limited by their shyness. A 20 baht tip usually brought a big smile and a wai. As of late the Rio girls have gotten spoiled a bit.
9) No shirtless Brazilians. That is the biggest annoyance in the biggest termas in Rio. 4x4. It is full of loud, drunk Brazilians walking around with their robes down. I do not go to a termas to be rubbed up on by shirtless men. There seems to be more space in the go gos too and people where regular clothes.
10) Very few beggars. Copacabana is full of beggars.
11) Although I do find the double pricing annoying no one short-changed me that I am aware of. That happens all the time in Rio. In fact the last Brazilian I dealt with in the USA short-changed me $1 as well. And this was after we had a long conversation entirely in Portuguese.
Things worse than Rio:
1) No termas. This is only a minor criticism because most of the elements of a termas are available. Go gos replace the groping. Devil's Den replaces the sexy incall. ST and Soi 6 (which I never did so I can only speculate) replace the aspect of a quick shot.
2) Territoriality. Most of the bars are small. When I hang around a small bar the girls grow on me. Once I pulled a girl from a bar her friends would often refuse to go with me. The opposite usually happens in Rio. Girls will recommend their friends, sisters, cousins, etc. This is also a minor issue as well since there are so many bars and it was not universal. Sometimes girls did recommend their friends or friends wanted to have me barfine them. This problem was the biggest in the restaurant where I got the very shy girl. Unfortunately the next day a VERY attractive friend of hers showed up and flat out refused me out of respect for her friend.
3)"Period". Early on I got a lot of refusals from girls on their "period". This was not an issue later in the trip though. I think the girls were already spoken for or had other issues or maybe even had their period. I was able to mitigate this later on by not just picking girls by their appearance but by how they reacted to me and by talking to the mamasans. In Rio, however, you can do quite well picking girls by their appearance because mostly they are trying to maximize their clientelle and duds are rare.
4) Shyness. Sometimes shyness can be cute but I did miss the open sexuality of the Brasileiras. Almost every one of them is a gamer from the start. They dance sexy, dress sexy, fuck sexy, and genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs. Their word for bikini is the same as dental floss. I took a sexy Thai girl to the beach one day and she wore a suit that had a skirt on it like she was a fat old woman.
5) Performance. Continuing #4, in Rio anal and CIM are commonplace. They also give as good as they get. Rio girls are masters at combining GFE with PSE. The only girls I met that would entertain anal and CIM were from Devil's Den. Performance-wise too the DD girls were close to the Brazilian standard.
5) Smallness. I had a few girls complaining that I was too large and was hurting them. I even let one girl go early (with a discount of course) because she was grimacing the entire time we were screwing. She was about 4 foot 10 and 90 pounds. After her though I got a tube of KY and no one complained after that so hopefully I solved the problem.
6) Stickiness. A few times I would call a girl over and buy her a drink but then on closer inspection I decided not to take her but another girl in the bar. Sometimes it was very tough to get the first girl to go away. Some demanded another drink or tip. Rio girls usually take this rejection better and go away without a fuss.
7) Bar hopping. Since the bars are small I often had to hit a few bars to find a mutually compatible girl. I assume that it is frowned upon to enter a bar and not order a drink so I always did. I do not like to drink much when I am mongering but since draft beer is cheaper than water I drank the beer. Hitting several bars this can add up monetarily and physically.
8) Double pricing. I know locals often get a discount in many places but Thailand is the first place I have been that actually codifies it. I went with a girl to Lucifer's one night and they actually have 2 menus. Local's beer cost 90. Farang's 170. 170 is outrageous for a beer in the US let alone Thailand. I won't be going back there or at least I won't drink. A girl alerted me to this and she wanted to get her own beer but since they saw her with me they charged her the 170. Then they wanted a tip on top of that too.
9) Racial variety. In Rio you can get white, black, Indian in every combination and even the occasional half-Japanese. In Pattaya it was either Asian or overpriced Uzbek.
10) Ladyboys. Mostly they kept away but occasionally they were annoying.
11) Indian tailors. No. I do not want to buy a suit. Stop asking me.
Bottom line, will I go back to Pattaya? Hell yea.
Will I go back to Rio? Only on someone else's dime or if the Real collapses which is unlikely before the 2014 Olympics and 2016 World Cup.

The only time I have ever went with a bar girl I had that exact same experience. She actually came to the hotel after work so I would not have to pay a bar fine. Plus in Rio these venues are spread out and require transportation to reach.If you look in the Rio thread you will see people are always looking for a replacement for the FL disco Help that was closed down by the government in January. Well if they would just go to Pattaya they would see there are about 10 Helps and the girls there for less than 1/3 of the minimum a Help girl would accept. Also in Pattaya you can rent a scooter for US$5/day. It beats taking the bus and the train around all over Rio or even worse the amount some guys spend on taxis there.
8) Niceness. The Thai girls were truly nice and aimed to please in every way only limited by their shyness. A 20 baht tip usually brought a big smile and a wai. As of late the Rio girls have gotten spoiled a bit.Of course. These days the Rio girls want to be the boss and call the shots when you are the one paying them. No termas. This is only a minor criticism because most of the elements of a termas are available. Go gos replace the groping. Devil's Den replaces the sexy incall. ST and Soi 6 (which I never did so I can only speculate) replace the aspect of a quick shot. You didn't mention the soapies so I assume you did not try them. Although I stay away from them it is the closest thing you will get at 1/3 of the price. But as everything else groping is not included because they are actually behind a glass wall for you to pick them out.

There are big differences to me.
Bottom line, will I go back to Pattaya? Hell yea. Will I go back to Rio? Only on someone else's dime or if the Real collapses which is unlikely before the 2014 Olympics and 2016 World Cup.I used to go to Rio every month and highly recommended it. Now I tell people not to waste their time or money if they are going for mongering. The good old days are over there and greener pastures are in Thailand.

finally this year i bit the bullet and went out of my comfort zone and booked a trip to thailand. i had a hard time at first because i was solo and the rules here seem to be different than brazil but by the end of my week i was loving this place and already trying to figure out when i can come back.

like i said i had some issues in the first few days. i would go to a go go and try to talk to a girl and few flat out refused saying "i have period!" i estimate the 40% of the girls i spoke to those first few days had their period. obviously some of them were lying but i could not figure out what the problem was. in all my trips to mexico and brazil i never had any sort of rejection like that at all. as it happened in order to find a taker i had to bar-hop to 3 or 4 bars before i found a mutually compatible girl. i also found it frustrating that when i took a girl they did not want to go straight back to get down to business but they wanted to go to the disco or another bar first to have a few drinks. pricing was reasonable though. the go go bar fine was either 500 or 600 and the girls went lt for 1500-2000. i had thought that the girl fee was totally up to she and the client but some bars actually had a piece of paper with the girl fee written on it. 2000 for st and 3000 for lt, for example but i found that i could just say to the girl or mamasan,"no. that is too much," and get significantly less.
i also got some frustration with pictures. i would ask girls if it was ok for me to take some. some allowed naked shots with face, one allowed an underwear shot, some clothed. that was the girls that i took home. in the bars, however, one go go and one beer bar girl refused to talk to me any longer once i brought up the subject. note i assured them no internet (sorry fellas) and even offered that they could leave their face out or remained clothed but the deal was off at this point.

to straighten myself out a bit i went to devil's den one day. that place was pretty good although pricey for pattaya at 3600 for 2 girls and 90 minutes. this is actually significantly less than the price for 1 girl for 40 minutes in a rio termas. it was the closest thing that i could find like a rio termas although it was missing the element of being able to mingle with and feel up the girls for an hour or so before a session. i took 2 girls for a session and they were excellent. no shyness at all, both did anal, lesbian show, cim, load swapping, etc. dd has a nice set-up. although it is not an every day place for me i will definitely go back as maybe a once or twice per trip luxury.
my trip improved after the dd visit. when i went to the beer bars and go gos the girls seemed to start liking me and i was able to get some good sessions to finish the week. i paid between 1200 and 1500 + 300 barfine for beer bar girls and between 1500 and 2000 + 500-600 barfine for go gos with the closer to walking street ones getting more. it was some pretty good gfe and they usually stayed until quite late in the afternoon. i also starting picking them up later so there was less ability to bar-hop.
overall by the end of my trip i was in a good groove and enjoying the place.
my thoughts about why it is better than rio:
1) price. hotels a third the price of rio apartments. girls half the price or less.
2) lt option. rio has no real lt option. termas and agencies are basically st. to get lt you have to get freelancers. i don't like freelancers. i like to have some accountability and some health checks.
3) safety. see #2. also, the streets were full of people 24 hours per day and walking distances less. i never felt in danger. even the stray dogs were polite. rio, however, sometimes resembles a war zone. muggings and carjackings are common. petty thievery, especially on the beach, is rampant. there have been several publicized hostage situations in copacana hotels, a restaurant, and on buses in the last few years.
4) go gos. these were great. although i missed the groping ability of termas the go gos were a close second. buy a girl a drink and you can grope her all you want. i had some that refused to leave me alone after one drink. i had to send forcefully send them away. note i came into this bar with another girl so they knew they weren't going to be barfined. these were just having fun, giving me lap dances, letting me feel them up, etc for 20 minutes or more all for a 110 baht lady drink.
5) beer bars. a nice cheap alternative to go gos. the girls were only slightly less attractive than go gos but much shyer. sometimes shy is nice.
6) along with #5 it is nice that almost everyone is available.

11) although i do find the double pricing annoying no one short-changed me that i am aware of. that happens all the time in rio. in fact the last brazilian i dealt with in the usa short-changed me $1 as well. and this was after we had a long conversation entirely in portuguese.

i am a decade plus long fan of rio and the wonderful brasilieras, but pricing has gotten out of control with the strong real and local inflation. if money was unlimited i would still take the rio termas over any other place in the world. they are just amazing places to meet young, attractive and sexually skilled ladies.
about two years ago i went to pattaya for a few days as i was passing by thailand on the way to australia and have been back a few times since. your experiences are very very similar to mine. gogos & bars are very much hit and miss for finding a great lady. my pet peevee in the gogos are that the ladies are too often very unreliable with regards to services offered and time spend. most if not all will try to change the deal once you get back to your hotel.
as you mention devils den is the only place that comes anywhere near the brazilian standards we all love and crave. for my upcoming trip to pattaya i have decided just to stick to dd for all my lady needs. the only thing they miss is the pre session interaction you get in the termas. few things in this world can beat having a few dozen scantily clad young ladies competing for your attention.

LPThat is the main reason I avoid FLers wherever I go. I do not mind paying a bar fine or termas fee in order to have some accountability. That and for the health checks. Even if they are spotty and easily faked they are still better than the nothing you get with a FLer. I wouldn't know. Perhaps it's just poor maintenance, in that case? The fact is, neither the rooms, nor the pool, nor the breakfast restaurant, looked particularly appealing when I was there. I assumed that this was because the hotel, whilst well maintained, was a bit dated. But perhaps it's the other way round? Perhaps the hotel is relatively new, but sloppily maintained?
