I plan on doing 2 nights in Manila, 2 nights in Bangkok at the Admiral Premier, 3 nights in Pattaya LK Renaissance, 2 nights back in Bangkok and another 2 nights in Manila before I head home. What do you guys think of my plan?As others have noted, the ratio of travel time to play time for this itinerary seems high. We don't know where original poster is coming from, but unless he's starting in Asia there is jet lag to consider. I know he loves the Philippines, but my counsel would be to save that destination for another trip and add the four days to his Thailand stay. With nine nights in country, he should start in Pattaya and stay for, say, six days. Then back to BKK for the final three days. This results in a trip that's 2/3 Pattaya and 1/3 Bangkok, which is my preferred ratio. It also makes it easier to fly out of BKK, especially if he's departing late at night or early in the morning. As for the LK Renaissance in Pattaya, it's a fine hotel, but it can be noisy.
I was also wondering on how I should get to Pattaya from my hotel and back to Bangkok after I'm done with Pattaya.The Bell Bus is an option:

But it's a *bus* and it doesn't run 24 hours a day. So it's not the most comfortable ride and depending on when you want to travel the schedule could be a problem. Finally, there have been anecdotal reports of the police at the bus station hassling guys they size up as sex tourists by searching their belongings, ostensibly for kiddie porn. But if you can live with those drawbacks, the bus is economical at 200 baht each way.
If you're willing to spend 1000 each way you can hire a car. From Pattaya back to Bangkok you might be able to hire a car for 100-200 baht less than that.
Mr. T's taxi service gets rave reviews, but I've never done business with them. I have used the VR Taxi Service:

Since many other vacation spot, especially in the North are flooded, lots of locals came here to Pattaya for the weekend. No problem in Pattaya and Sukhumvit was OK when I left yesterday, but high tide is late next week and that's what everyone is worried about.

I usually hightail it Pattaya every trip, unless I have an real early flight out of BKK, like I did my last trip.
There are more venues in Pattaya, and Pattaya's weather seems to be better because of being located on the beach. I agree, packing and unpacking sucks! Skip BKK next trip, explore what Pattaya has to offer.

I'm actually forced to stop in Manila for at least a few hours and on the way back a day. So I figured I'd just make it a few days. I'm coming from the States and there's no direct flight from where I'm coming from. I usually run out of things to do during the day and so I begin to monger earlier then I want.
I'll probably go your taxi route because it seems easier. I wouldn't mind a tour of the islands around Pattaya LOL

Sukhumvit seems okay for now. Even if there's minor flooding down some of the side streets during heavy rain it shouldn't bother you much. Not so sure about Pattaya. There was some flooding there a month or so ago when it rained heavily, and there might be again this time around. Pattaya also gets dirty and muddy when it rains much more than Sukhumvit does.

Just got back from Patts, the prices you mentioned are correct. St and LT are almost the same as the girl usually want to stay overnight in your place. I had to asked them to leave on many occasions.
I would usually negotiate 2-3 hour ST.
Some beer bar girls ask 1000 baht for ST. Actually about 80% of them.
The quality on the beach road went up a lot! You can walk for about 20-30 min and find a real gem. Go-go quality!
I would stay away from Walking street, it became a real tourist trap. Prices in go-go's are 700 BF plus 1500-2000 for ST.
The best deals are on Soi 6 and 7.
I am home now, I find myself looking at the girls and thinking if I would barfine them. LOL. The answer is mostly no.

Am about to head to Pattaya, haven't been back for about 18 months, but reading back on the forum I wanted to get a sense of price inflation which seems rampant.
My usuals:
- Beach Road: S / T 500 Bhat (I don't L / T from Beach Road)
- Beer Baar: 300 to 500 Bhat for Bar Fine, Bhat 500 S / T, Bhat 1, 000 L / T.
- Go-go: 500 to 700 Bhat for Bar Fine, Bhat 1, 000 S / T, Bhat 1, 500 to Bhat 2, 000 L / T.
In terms of go-gos, I was often pushing up against the Bhat 2, 000 for L / T on my last trip, but that was eighteen months ago. Reading back through this thread it sounds like either there has been massive price inflation, or, someone is payint too much, or, whatever.
Can I get a sound check on going rates for L / T in particular for Beer Bars and Go / Gos please? (For someone who can say saw-dee-cup, etc but doesn't speak that much Thai.)

It appears to me as if those who previously visited Pattaya, now can't afford it. The economic decline of the West is a fact. The USA is certainly going down the tubes, and I don't see that changing with the clowns who are running things in Washington. Much the same can be said for England and much of Europe. I booked a business class air ticket on ANA connecting in Hanada to Thai Air's Royal Silk Class for only 75000 United miles. For those with airline miles to use and a flexible schedule, this seems like a really good deal.

Over 150 Officers took part in the operation and were confronted by over 500 revelers inside the club. Everyone was searched, including foreign patrons and random drug testing took place which resulted in the arrest of 14 women and 2 male employees of the club. Drug taking paraphernalia was found in the Men's Toilet and a large quantity of pain relief tablets were seized, even though managers claimed they were given to staff who suffered from headaches caused by the loud music. A quantity of anti-histamine Chlorphenamine Tablets, were found and seized for now. No illegal narcotics were found and all licenses were found to be in order. The suspected drug users were sent to Pattaya Police Station and Lucifer's is expected to be open as usual over the weekend.

People that live in non flood areas are bricking up their doors, and packing their belongings into plastic boxes. I have some friends that live in a shop house and they moved everything to the second floor, they are not near any water source, but the television coverage has them convinced that they will drown. It is hard to find bottled water or soup because people are stocking up for the great flood.
At least it keeps them busy.

I arrived in Pattaya this morning and am staying at the Pattaya Bay Resort for 999 baht per night including breakfast for 1 or 2 people. The weather is good. It was clear all morning with no signs of flooding. There was a flash rain that lasted for 20 minutes while I was getting a 200 baht massage. I met up with AMEX SPG last night to check out a couple go-go bars. We went to Windmill and Alcatraz. Both places had no cover charge and 99 baht drinks. No the sky is not falling. Bangkok and Pattaya are dry as a bone. There is no one in chest deep water or in boats unless it is in the ocean. By the way my first time in Thailand we took one of the airport "limos" that the people get you to sign up for right after leaving customs. That was because we didn't know any better. And at 600 baht to go to Nana; now THAT was a SCAM!

Well following the advice earlier in this forum I took myself and my girlfriend to Devils Den during our Thailand holiday. She is very open minded and happy to try things and is OK with my being with other ladies as long as she is there with me.
Walked into DD and was greeted by John. I think, is he american? Anyway, very nice guy and talked us through the options. We came with the view of taking one girl but he explained that since we were a couple, the price for one or two girls is the same (since the one girl have to serve two clients?) The logic was lost on me but hey, why not two girls!
Nice reception area with mutltiple computers where one can review the girls, turned out there was only 4 availble at that time (7 PM) , and none that both of us liked so we picked two girls for the following night.

I found another hotel that is only 1 or 2 minute walk from Beach Road, just around the corner from Royal Garden Plaza. Pattaya Nobel Place 1 is very clean & very new. 700 to 500 baht gets you a room with a / see, private bath, lcd tv, wi-fi, safe deposit box, & refrigerator but no elevator. It might be cash only. Cheaper by the week. Because there is no elevator. 700 baht for 2nd floor & 500 baht for 5th floor, obviously NOT ADA compliant. The location is very hard to beat!

At that time the weekly rate was slightly better than the daily rate, provided that you went every day. The staff at the front desk was somewhat dodgy and not very friendly at the time. There was more than one occassion when I paid the entry fee and they told me to start the workout and promised to bring the change later, but practically everytime I had to remind them that I still had some change coming. Not many babes frequented the gym at that time, but things may have changed since 2009.

I ran into a guy today at Big C extra off Pattaya Klang with his suitcase he seem lost so I offer my help. He said he had a reservation months ago at a small hotel but when he showed up they play dump that they didn't have a reservation. Basically from what I have heard in the last few days some hotels have given their rooms to people from Bangkok because the people have offer to pay a higher place. I was able to help the guy get a room at a more local place close to transportation.
Today I was also at Lotus north to get some KFC, when I walked in most of the items had a sign showing " out ". I assume that there will be no flooding in Pattaya. Is this correct?Because Pattaya is on the sea it never gets the kind of sustained, chronic flooding that the Chao Phraya River basin gets. There are a few areas that have drainage problems, so there can be some standing water after a really big rain, but usually for no more than a couple hours.

I tend to go native when I'm here and couldn't get into any of my "usual" places. High season started 1 NOV, too, so the prices went up a bit. I'm going home 7 NOV so it doesn't matter much to me anyway..

Delivery is slow but the 7/11 and shop in the tourist area I heard are getting the most water. Since the other parts of town or non-tourist Thais and Farang have no problem buying their water from the reverse osmosis machines located throughout the neighborhoods. One baht for a small bottle. 4 baht to fill a large bottle the same bottle that cost your 45 baht at 7/11.

I flew back from Pattaya yesterday, and I can confirm what others have already posted: There was no issue getting from Pattaya to the airport, and while there are a bunch of sandbags on the streets in Pattaya there is no flooding there (nor in Jom Tien).
They are starting to run a bit low on a lot of things in stores, notably cigarettes and some food products, but that's not really a concern. More of an issue is that a friend of mine that owns a beer bar told me that they are starting to run low on beer and they are having a lot of difficulty getting ahold of some beer brands. However, this is more of an issue with suppliers hoarding things to drive up the price and it's not a genuine shortage.
It rained quite a bit while I was there, and not as hot and nice as it usually is, but that didn't stop me from enjoying my trip.

You have to go till the end of walking street, then pass the marina, then turn left and pass the kart circuit.

i'll be leaving two weeks from tonight for 6 days in pattya. 3 in singapore, and the final 2days in bkk. in the past i've used a sim with an older unlocked, jailbrokej iphone. i still have that phone but am wondering of its worthwhile to just use some sort of data plan this time with my newer (last version) iphone. i guess i should add that i'm from northwrn california and i
also plan on taking my ipad.
any opinions / suggestions would be welcome. i'm thinking maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to try and unlock and jailbreak my newer iphone but i'm not sure it'd be worth it to get a data plan for it either. maybe just get a sim in thailand and in singapore for the old iphone?

1. got an gevey pro card at fortune tower (with that you can use any provider) , saw also in mbk etc. so better ask if you don't want to jailbreak.
2. got a "true" high speed micro sim.
3. topped it with 800 bath, and bought one months data plan (3g+gprs+wifi) , as it is limited in data transfer for 3g+gprs, but have unlimited wifi.
heard from locals true have the fastest mobile internet, at least it was faster than ais, and in best cases i got almost 1 mbit.
for me it was worth it, but total cost was something like 1800 bath. the good is that i didn't need to buy internet at my hotel.
if it works for ipad, have no idea.

Can anyone there now on the ground verify just how bad it is? Is it just too much of a hassle there to be enjoyable? Or is it business as usual?

- Bottled water is easy to find. If one 7-11 doesn't have it, go to the Family Mart next door or a mom & pop shop and they'll definitely have it.
- P4P prices are about the same. High season's around the corner so expect negotiating ST / LT rates to be more difficult.
- Really, it's just another day in LOS Patts.

It is much cheaper to call a US # from Thailand than to use a US # in Thailand. He is looking at about $3 just for the thing to ring, while you are looking at 3 cents / minute to call the US with True Move.

I am now considering going straight to Pattaya from the airport as soon as I land in Bangkok LOL. Instead of doing the 2-3-2 plan, I might do 4 days in Pattaya and 3 in Bangkok depending on how much I like Pattaya? Could somone sugest a 550 baht hotel that's next to tons of gogo's where I can do plenty of ST butterflying? I'm thinking soi 6 post office would be a good start from what I've read on the boards. Maybe I can find a hotel in soi 6 and just take a taxi to babydolls when I'm feeling even more frisky.

They will charge you 1000 baht deposit plus 150-200 baht per day for the bike. Make sure you always have your driver's license when you are riding the bike or you risk a ticket from the cops. You can find maps in the back of any free guide book that you may see in hotels and travel agencies. Or you may look online at one such as.

I was just about to buy plane ticket and make hotel reservation for my holiday in Pattaya in early Jan 2012 when I froze hearing critic news.
May thai flood jeopardize it all now? I know bad weather didn't affect Pattaya at the moment, but would clouds and rains move there in the next weeks?
It seems it has been raining for months in Thailand, how long is it going to last?
I don't want to run ten thousand miles and concern about the weather. I want my sun!
Anybody got a link to accurate wheater forecast in Pattaya in order to monitor situation there?
I'm also scared of price hikes and I wouldn't like to wait for weeks before buying my plane ticket to see if it's getting better because I'd rather avoid possible further increases.
