Well curry comes to mind.Well my friend, that's such a generalized statement.
It's like assuming that every Brit smells like beer or every American smell like Hot Dog / burger / doughnut.
No Indian smell like 'Curry'. The truth is, a stinking man smell like shit. Indian or westerner or no matter who it is. But I don't know why people brought our humble curry into picture. Go to any bar in Thailand and you are bound to find a cheap stinking Charlie (let's not assume any nationalities over here)
Although I do agree that many Indians are involved in indecent activities. But who isn't. Haven't you seen the Russian groups haggling in a single place and treat the local people like dirt.
It's very simple. Thailand is white skin obsessed country (BTW. India too is a very white skin obsessed country). So a prank / In-decent behaviour done by any white guy will be taken as a joke and if the same is done by South Asian / Arab it will be taken as downright cheap act.
People is every country have their own perception about every nationalities. (Indian too have their assumptions. Like all white people coming to Goa only do drugs / All Black guys are either gangsters / infected with HIV and all Chinese looking people eat dogs. You simply can't change them.
Even when I am traveling in Europe. People only assume that Indian and can only be an IT Engineer or Grocery shop owner.
The thing is. India is a growing economy and since Thailand gives visa on arrival to Indians, many first time foreign travel by Indians is done to Thailand. And if you leave aside the Go-Go bars, Indians are welcome almost at every place. Go to any mall in Pattaya / Bangkok. Most of the shopping is done by Indians / Arabs. Especially check out the electronics sections. I was surprised to see that sales guys actually speaking Hindi in order to cater to Indian customers. Now can that be done for any other nationality in Thailand?
So a lot of mix variety people from our part of the world are visiting Thailand. Some are very educated and have traveled all over the world whereas foe some it's a first time air travel.
But what Go Go bars are missing out is their Business. If some bars are not accepting Indians, there are 20 times more bars who are more than happy to accept us. BTW I was so surprised that they don't even allow Arabs. I had my colleague with from Oman and he too was denied entry in Alcatraz. But that guy spent around 15K bhat on drinks only in a single night at Shark and Sweet Heart GoGo. So you can guess whose lost / gained the money.
The bar owners must understand that they needs Indians / Arabs to take their business forward. If they are not able to see the long term picture, that's a wrong business sense. It was always about the money. It doesn't matter what the colour of the pocket is. Its a wrong assumption that only white guys can pay (come on. I bet every 1 has seen their fair share of cheap westerns at every Go-Go).
Also BTW I found the whole Thailand Story too hyped. Although pussy Is available in bulk, the quality of girls is nowhere near Japanese's or Korean Girls. It's a OK place for some 1 who needs to relax and get some vaginal activity all at a cheap cost.
For me. I think I will stick to Brazil / Germany / Singapore for my piece of action

Correct me if I'm wrong? But I would like to add my 2 plus cents in this matter. This conversation regarding Indians have come up in the past. When we speak of the smell or bad attitude are we really talking about racism? As noted other race can smell and act badly when in Pattaya too! I do understand when these sterotypes are applied and refusal of admission then it does become rascism.
Not being a world traveler and from my limited experience around Indian this is my view and experience regarding Indians in Pattaya. I put Indians in two catagories those who wear the original garments and those who wear western garments. I stayed once at the Marina Hotel which is behind Walking Street in the 90's as many of you know this area is visited by many Indians and Mid-Eastern. It was my first and last time staying in the area but I do venture to the area weekly to park my bike while I visit the go-go's. Whenever the conversation comes up like now my sterotype views about Indians are mainly those in the original garments that stay around the Marina Hotel area and search for freelancers on Beach Road. The negative remarks regarding Indians seem well deserve for them as this is what I have experience and seen as they smell and are loud and rude in groups. In a separate experience on a Flight in 2006, I was told by the station manager in Hong Kong for Cathay Pacific these Indians are from the country. Right or wrong I classify these Indians as being from the country / uneducated and have no manners. I believe these Indians are what all the negative remarks are being directed.
Being a regular visitor to some of the go go's being mentioned as to denying Indians entry these aren't the ones being denied. Sadly the one's being denied and paying the price are the ones that look educated, well dress in western style shirts / pants and shoes also most likely loaded with cash? I have seen many well dress Indians turn away but never have I actually seen Indians wearing the old garments trying to enter any of the clubs being mentioned. Another sad observation is that the well dress one are allow to enter whenever the clubs aren't seeing lots of customer. Just the other night being low season now at Bacarra their were a few.
Personally, I don't have a problem with anyone and being a minority myself I don't like to see it since I grew up being discriminated. But as mentioned I stayed a week at the Marina Hotel in the nineties and that was enough for me. The Inidan were loud and rude and the Mid-Easterner were worse espesically at the all night club in the hotel. And things haven't change much today when late a night I go to pick up my bike to go home. There is a reason why the BIB are setup at 2nd Road and Pattaya Tai, the Mid-Easterner drive like madmen on their rented motorbike and its is easy money for the BIB.

Personally, I do feel that while Thailand provide easy access to mongers, it is bit overrated and has become quite costly as well. I found some of the other options in SE Asia more attractive.I'm curious as to what options you have found more attractive. Are you referring to Angeles City, in the Philippine Islands?

I like the Indians, they're always telling me it's my lucky day and I've bought nice suits and luxury watches from them at wholesale price! They pose no competition with the Thai babes, (unlike all the hansum Falang seducing them with sweet lines or romance) I've yet to see them with one.

I'm curious as to what options you have found more attractive. Are you referring to Angeles City, in the Philippine Islands?It is a matter of personal choice. While I like Thai girls but sometimes good quality can be bit difficult to find (probably for me). I tend to prefer fair Viet or Chinese looking girls. Even in Thailand, there are some part Chinese looking girls and I like them.
I also find some Phili girls very attractive thanks to Spanish mix. It just gives them amazing skin and features.
I do admit that mongering is most easy in Thailand with easy access. So for a quick and easy access, nothing can beat Thailand. For varied taste and quality, Phili and Viet are good options.

Plenty of Indian, farang and Thai friends here. Say what you like about them, I don't know a single Indian who owes anything on a home mortgage. Can't say that for my farang and Thai friends.
Also I was denied entry to 4 GoGos stating that they were for members only. BACARA, Alcatraz (Or Caucasians only). Maybe I was denied due to my skin colour (I am Indian) but heck it. If the bars are not able to see my loaded cash, its their problem. There are many place in Pattaya which will welcome me with their open arms. The bars need to understand that the only colour that matters is the colour of Money. Racial profiling is so OLD School.
Nevertheless expect this 4 bars, faced no problem anywhere.Well what can I say? I too am of Indian decent but British by Nationality, I have been allowed entry in to Airport, Baccara, Whats Up and Alcatraz on a number of occasions. However I was in Pattaya in March, that time only Baccara let me in, only because the one of security outside recognized me. At the Airport AGoGo I was refused initially and I told them that I was there two weeks earlier and asked when they started the "member only policy", no answer, no surprise there, so I went on to describe the layout of the place and showed him my UK drivers license, lo and behold the entry was granted, same scenario with Whats up and Baccara. Alcatraz would not budge.
I agree, the bars need to understand that the only colour that matters is the colour of money and I for one will no longer go to Alcatraz and spend my hard earned cash in there.

Today was a bad day. I was in organic chemistry lecture and had the great misfortune of having a stinky Indian show up late and sit directly behind me. I could not breathe for the whole hour. I could not take notes because I had to hold my hand up to my face in a futile attempt to attenuate his nefarious stench.
Most of the indians and punjabs I know are at least decent and do not give off a smell. In fact, quite a bit of them take care to have a pleasant scent about them. While sitting in class with your loathsome musk crawling through my sinuses, I soon found myself desensitized to any other smell. Although the Chinese economy has grown more and more people who couldn't travel before are now just like the indians. Although to many of you whites we all look alike there are many more Chinese now visiting in place of the Japanese and Koreans at clubs like Happy and Bacarra. The big similarity is that all of them like to smoke and by percentage will be struck down with cancer in the lungs or throat. Oh, back to topic! As many of us know the Chinese can also be loud, pushy and lack mannners and do travel in large groups to Thailand and don't seem to get the same reputation as the Indians?
Its a shame but I can't see any Indian travel agencies telling or coming out with a guide to teach Indians how to travel? Don't carry heavy smelling oils or curry in your luggage. Take a bath and tone down your heavy scent. Don't put you feet up on the airplane tray table. Don't pick you toes when in a go go or bar especially when you are sitting next to someone that you don't know. Don't be cheap and loud. It really comes down to manners and consideration and from what I'm hearing and I myself have sterotype the Indians in general as not having any?

Well! Songkran is coming just another week and things will start? Waterguns and flower shirts are being sold for the event. Still not sure what will happen April 8-10 when they bury the Princess. I ask a few Thais and all I got was either Who diied what you tallking about? Or don't know?

And it is usually for two reasons.
1) Working ladies don't want certain groups.

I keep rising fairly early and napping in the afternoon until I'm adjusted to Thailand time. I realize some guys prefer a nocturnal schedule, but I enjoy getting out and about during the day.
Do you suggest staying in BKK for a few days first? I'd also like to get some kind of a tan so what do you suggest? Never been to Jomtien, is it enough to get tanned? Cause I don't do swimming or diving. Just beer and girls is my plan. I was also thinking of flying to Phuket for beach for a few days, does it make any sense or too much traveling? Any ideas? But when my home town is covered in gray slush and I'm freezing my ass off, Pattaya is just fine. Phuket is OK, but if you're on a budget and you've only got two weeks I'd recommend giving it a pass.
Bottom Line: I think you'd be happy going straight to Pattaya and spending at least ten days there. Find a hotel in the central part of town so you can easily use the baht buses and walk to Soi LK Metro. At the end of your trip, spend three or four nights in Bangkok, preferably near Nana Plaza. Bang a few go go hotties from Rainbow 4, then get back on the plane to Europe. Then starting counting the days until you can return.

Natty Bumpo filed an excellent report, has reported on a trend, and its obvoius this girl had probably both looks and a bit of charm and that impacts price, and neither he nor anyone else on this site could possibly have an impact on prices. The upcoming low season probably won't sustain such premium pricing in most bars, unless the girls are all top shelf, which would be virtually impossible.

(A good example might be paying a Beach Road girl 2K when the going rate seems to be 500.)

Things have changed a lot in Pattaya since last year. I stayed at Nova Platinum Hotel which was nice, good location and very GFly.
But prices have changed a lot. I mean went up in a crazy way. Especially food, I paid something like 50$ in Sizzlers at festival mall. At Mixx disco Bacardi lemon was 120 last year but this year it is 190 Bahts. They are

I never understood the negativity some members showed to ISG contributors. Either contribute positively, or at the minimum keep your negativity off the ISG forum.
- I've been guilty of overpaying and underpaying SPs but of course I try to pay reasonable market prices or below that. Overall, it maintains a healthy supply / demand equilibrium for the Pattaya P4P market if there are Johns who underpay and overpay. High ST / LT payments entice more, ideally good looking, SPs to come to Patts in the hopes / illusion of earning big bucks. Johns who manage to get cheap ST / LT keep the market prices reasonable. Since coming to Patts in 2007 I've always found adequate availability of SPs ranging from dirt cheap ST / LT to the ST / LT stunners at steep prices.

What I have reported so far is just the tip of the iceberg. I toured South East Asia for 46 days this year. I travelled to HKG, Macau, AC, Cebu City, Port Barton – Palawan, Malate, Pattaya and BKK in that order. By my calculation it added up to 39 sessions with 27 girls and 12 repeats. A very lively debate was conducted in that forum thread that went on for 5 pages. You should check it out. It is very interesting. No flaming is allowed and many different opinions were heard from. At the two extreme ends, some hated the very concept of the bar and vowed they would never step foot in it and others loved the place and said they went there every night.
Here is my list of pros and cons:
Cons:
1. The high prices for lady drinks, bar fines and ST/LT. The 2000/1000 barfine & the 2000/4000 ST/LT service charge.
2. Waiting around until 1am to take your girl out. Delayed satisfaction. I hated this.
Pros:
1. Some of the very hottest looking girls in town. A personal opinion, but wow!
2. Because they keep their girls in the bar until 1, What's Up A Go Go gets better and more lively as midnight – 1am approaches. When all the other Go Go's are winding down and their best girls are gone for the night, a new customer walking into What's Up can barely find a seat after midnight. Circuses 9 stars.
3. The staff is very friendly.
My Conclusion:
Take it or leave it, this bar is enjoying tremendous success and is here to stay. No boycott is going to be effective. Dream on. Fahrenheit Go Go down the Soi employs the same business plan and agency girls. I sure hope this does not spread to Bangkok, but it probably will. I wonder how the bar operates in the low season? The pressure on the girls to lower at least the 2000/4000 ST/LT is sure to get heavy. I will find out in October.

I just returned from my first time to Pattaya on my own. I am not sure about the gogo scene but I did go to airport disco one night and the going price for one of the dancers was 600 and 2000 for long time. I didn't end up taking. My thing is more the freelancer market.
I spent most of my time in the early evening at the Beergarden and then after 11pm at the Bamboo Bar (about 3 shops away from the beach when you looking at the start of walking street). At the Bamboo bar there are many freelancers and the going rate for a sleepover is 1000baht. No bar fine.
Ok, they are not gogo girls but there are some 20somethings but generally in the mid 30s to 40s. Hey I had some great shags! And a top night out as well.
The coconut bar is alive and well and you must be spoilt if you can't find something there to get ya rocks off.

For most freelancers (e. G. Beach Road) , the going rate is still 500 ST. Few years back that used to be a universal rate 99% of the girls accepted, but lately some girls ( 30%) have been asking for more, and not going down. Oddly, this is not correlated with good looks (and especially not with good service) , but rather with experience / cheekiness. Walking Street freelancer rate seems to be 700-800, I believe it's the same in discos, maybe 1000 in exceptional cases. Outside of agogo bars, there should be no need to pay over 1000 for a ST in Pattaya. Higher payment does not equal better treatment.
As for LT, many girls are becoming increasingly reluctant to accept it than few years back. So the price spread between ST and LT is growing. I feel that 1000 for LT is acceptable, but on the low side. IMHO, the best deal is probably some an ST+ hybrid where you get to come 2-3 times (for maybe 700-1000 baht) in the space of 1-4h, but she doesn't sleep overnight.

LBMI jut found a site called "A Guide to Buddhist Monasteries and Mediation Centres in Thailand" that identifies some what is with English-speaking Monks, and offered classes. There are no web links provided but there are phone numbers, so I'll probably call a couple of them when I get in country. I'll let you know if it works for me.

Yes totally agree I can't believe the prices now, I used to find quality on the streets off soi buakow before they went to work get there numbers and hook up later for as you say 1, 000 st it's finished here, totally finished, but like I say it doesn't help with the money some of the guys on this board are throwing around.Thailand is now pushing the minimum wage to 300 odd baht per day, say $10 and the businesses are screaming blue murder. That is for a very long, hard days work, maybe 10 hours of back breaking rice planting. Now think how this translates into bar fines and LT ie 1500 = 5 days work on full pay. Or at whats up a 140 bt drink translates to about $80. And it was nice of someone to blow the lid on Agency girls, a nice way of saying everyone is getting a cut! So remember when you negotiate, and on that multiple. There are many other fish in the pond.
I always ask to feel the hand, and pick the ricecropper sorts, as the city ones are spoiled brats. I also don't understand this thing where girls try to sleep in bed, in their street clothes. Can't afford pajamas or sleeping attire that fits their 'rate card'.

But I hear you. I hate tourists too. I live in South Florida. Every winter these “snowbirds” fly down like hordes of locust. They drive like shit, bring the flu, and thanks to them I can’t go out to my favorite restaurants on a Friday or Saturday night without a 2 week reservation. That is why I get out of town in February/March every year and fly to Asia. But, without them the local economy would suffer - property values down, taxes up, and a not nearly as many good restaurants to enjoy. Damn!

What I have reported so far is just the tip of the iceberg. I toured South East Asia for 46 days this year. Be your own judge and avoid stuff that you feel is a rip off. I have not seen a single bar, be it in Pat or BKK that is different. They are all guest friendly but has an eye for your wallet.

Landed ahead of schedule in Bangkok, got my bags and headed downstairs to catch the Bell Bus to Pattaya. I highly recommend the Bell Bus over a taxi. $200 baht to Pattaya and it only took 1. 5 hours. You arrive at a central bus station and they have vehicles waiting to take you to your hotel. No extra charges! You can book online at http://www.belltravelservice.com
I'm staying at the LK Metropole on Soi Diana. Second time staying in this hotel. It is set back from the Soi so noise is not a problem. It has a nice pool area and everything looks well taken care of. The room is nice, clean, quiet, has free internet, fridge and a balcony. Nothing spectacular, just a good place for my money. Breakfast is included with several choices as well as fresh fruits, breads, coffee, juices and cereals.
Pat – Bliss Lounge.
I headed out to Bliss Lounge after hitting TukCom for a few things. Bliss is on 3rd road and not hard to find, if U-turn the right way when you get to 3rd road! The first time I went there I didn't, going right after hitting 3rd road from Soi Diana when I should have went left. It is across the street from a huge open field / parking lot.
Arrived at Bliss and there was only maybe 4 or 5 girls there. I went in and not much had changed since my last trip. There is a pool table, a couple of tv's, and your choice of sitting on couches or bar style chairs at tables. Chatted with Pat for a bit and she remembered me from Dec / Jan. I remembered her face but not her name. I most certainly remembered her when she started the BJ though! Bliss has rooms upstairs, private with a bed or a comfy chair. Primarily a BJ bar but full service was also available. Walking upstairs and past all the rooms I saw why there were so few girls when I arrived. i'm staying at the lk metropole on soi diana. second time staying in this hotel. it is set back from the soi so noise is not a problem. it has a nice pool area and everything looks well taken care of. the room is nice, clean, quiet, has free internet, fridge and a balcony. nothing spectacular, just a good place for my money. breakfast is included with several choices as well as fresh fruits, breads, coffee, juices and cereals.

i headed out to bliss lounge after hitting tukcom for a few things. bliss is on 3rd road and not hard to find, if u-turn the right way when you get to 3rd road! the first time i went there i didn't, going right after hitting 3rd road from soi diana when i should have went left. it is across the street from a huge open field / parking lot.

I usually stay on Soi Diana and have stayed at the Areca Lodge as well as the LK Renaissance and LK Metropole. LK M this trip was under 1500 per day. I use Agoda to check prices and availability.

I went down to Pattaya on Saturday 14th of April for a few days. Decided to take a taxi and with the meter it came to 1, 200 Baht and took just under 2 hours. I stayed at the Galaxy suites in Soi Diamond, which I would recommend, the rooms are not very big but they are very tidy and they seem to clean the rooms and change the beds regardless of what time you decide to go out. I know a fine young lady who I met / bar-fined from Soi 3 some time ago and arranged for her to come to the hotel shortly after I arrived. I keep rather unusual hours. Where does one find FL's between 2am to 7am? Discos are normally open until daylight, but those chicks are normally worse for wear; had one throw up in the room, a repeat is not too appealing.

Crackdown is taking its toll on Beach Road. Decent girls (i.e. not complete skanks) are only available in a fairly narrow window between 19:30 and 23:30.
After midnight, police comes out and the road becomes virtually a desert. I've never seen it so devoid of working girls at night. Earlier crackdowns have been a nominal affair, police coming in at random times, swooping up several girls, extorting their 500-1000 baht bribe and letting them go straight back to work (including at the area right in front of the police station). The girls hated the loss of income, but never seemed too perturbed by the trip to the station. This time it seems more serious. One of my regulars complained about the cops, and was in a great hurry to get back home around 23:30.
I hope this is just one of the cyclical things and not a permanent turn for the worse.

Nor is there such a thing as a "buddy network" for bars in Pattaya. I am a member of Pattaya Talk and have been for many years. I post a lot of the photos I take in the bar on P-T because, unsurprisingly, a lot of the board's members are fans of FLB. I've posted very little about FLB on ISG. By the standards you apply, anyone who writes favorably or posts photos from a bar is promoting it. The photos I posted from Songkran at FLB were an accurate depiction of some the celebration that night. Nothing more or less.

Most pleasant surprise was Sabai Room. It's been sold by the HK Chinese owner (who the girls all hated) to the Sabaidee Group. They've rennovated the place, finally finished the 3rd floor, and generally made the whole operation much more professional. The selection is bigger and of higher quality than I've seen there in some years.
Even Soi 6 has turned up some gems. Two of whom I met a few months ago but were too busy with their high-season regulars to have time for a transient like me. Now they're all over me. Prices for the really good ones are now pretty much up to B1000, but again, better quality than I've seen there for quite a while. You've got to love the low season.

For my money the go-go bars are the best and most economical option for the kind of entertainment I like. You can't beat the happy hour prices from 8-9:30 or 10pm. I can arrive at a bar at opening time and enjoy two hours of lovely naked girls showing off their goods and go home having spent only 200 baht.
If I want to splurge a bit I can buy lady drinks and have a young beauty sitting on my lap for awhile which is well worth the price of a lady drink. In Bangkok my best experiences were with girls I took from an agogo. There are so many variables to consider. Even if you take the same girl twice from the same location, nothing guarantees the same performance. Maybe her favourite waterbuffalo just got ill now and she needs extra money to get "into the mood" this time.
You guys are making this discussion more painful than it needs to be. The gogos in Pattaya have some of the finest women in SEA dancing (IMHO) , even though most of them can't dance worth a shit. But when it comes to places that I know the Mamasans, such as X-Zone, Babydolls, and Champions, it is a different story.
