People are saying pattayas beaches are filthy. What beach in Brazil blows out Phuket? Ipanema to Leme beach is pretty much the same except for the size of waves. Are you talking a different city in Brazil. I'm up for checking out a different beach for a couple days when I go in a few months.I would say some beaches of Buzios (3 hrs north of Rio) if not most, are more beautiful than what I saw on Phuket. Same goes for many beaches of Angra dos Reis (3 hours south). Lopes Mendez on Ilha Grande is simply spectacular, although it's not easy to get to. One day I took a boat tour from Ilha Grande and they took us to several beaches, and I would describe every beach as being better than Phuket.
Then I remember a gorgeous beach in Cambariu, Santa Catarina. Another one in Salvador, Bahia, which was simply amazing. I'm not good with the names, but it's hard not to find a nice beach in Brazil if you stay close to the coast.
Then there are beaches I know by "reputation" only. Like Mr. E said some of the best beaches are in the Northeast. Another city for excellent beaches is Florianapolis, which is in the south.
Now a disclaimer: I don't hate Phuket. I actually had a good time there, but I don't remember my mind being blown by the beaches or natural beauty or mongering opportunities. I remember crowds everywhere and not much more. Then again, I only stayed there for 4 days, so I'm sure I missed plenty. I'm just saying, I don't see Phuket as a single travel destination, especially if you're based in the States. If you go to Thailand anyway, then Phuket makes sense.

Best mix from super blond loira blond (barra) to mulatta and negra (rest of rio, especially vm, centro, and the hidden gems are in niteroi).

For the veteran mongers that have traveled to Thailand and Brazil, which country wins as the greatest mongering Destination in the world. You have to count service, looks, beach in the day, and sucos bars vs thai food. Add it all up in a pot and what country comes out on top.A lot of reports I read in this section about Thailand seem to be based on intel and experiences pre-Covid. Covid has changed things everywhere, and the Asian mongering scene has not recovered either. If we are talking Thailand in 2005 still, then it was the best destination in the world. If we are talking Thailand today? It would struggle to make my top 5 at present.
Thailand has fallen off a cliff and its changing rapidly. The quality of the women has declined noticeably for one, as has service quality. Bars and gogos are really struggling to attract girls, and that has only driven their wages and barfines up even further. Its so bad now that in certain bars, and even the hardcore areas of Pattaya like the famous Soi 6, a lot of girls are only working purely for drinks. I have no idea who would want to travel to Thailand to speak broken english with some fat bar girl, but this is where things are at there. A lot of women have moved online too, and the tourist demographic is changing with a ot more Koreans and Indians only adding demand.
The cost of sex in Thailand is more expensive for women who on average are not as attractive as Latinas and service wise are not on the same level. If its sex alone now, Thailand is not even top 10 in the world anymore that's how badly service has fallen off a cliff there. The days of the long time, overnight GFE is rapidly declining too.
Hotels and safety. Its all Thailand wins out on. Brazil has it on women, cost of sex / value, food and things to do outside drinking at a beach bar all day. People can talk about the beaches of Thailand all they want, you need to travel to get to them. Brazil has amazing beaches too, which you need to travel to. But you can't tell me that Barra or even Ipanema are ugly beaches. I would much rather walk down that strip than ANY strip in Thailand. Any day.
Brazilian cities are like European cities surrounded by slums. Thailand for the most part is one big strip mall / industrial hellscape in-between hotels, resorts, beaches and shacks / developments.

Only visited DV once last trip and never tried Kalabria. Going to focus on them more this time around.

But then again I don't know what the cabin option is like. A cabin might be just a closet based on what a suite was. The suite is 100 r more expensive.
4 x4 - Two level, weird setup. They might be owned by different owner or something. But the place is generally clean and nice. Again a large range of girls. 4-7 and about 15 girls at around 11 pm. Didn't session but just drank and sat around. A lot slower and emptier than I thought it would be for a Friday night.
Mosaico. Went at around 1 am. Around 10 girls while I was there ranging from 3-7. Didn't session. Just chilled for a bit to check the scene.
I was unimpressed by the quantity of and quality of the girls in Rio but the one that I did session with was fun and GFE and was willing to please.
I'll check out some other places tonight, Saturday and maybe there will be more chicas. Recommendation welcomed.

As I get ready for my first trip to Brazil, I'm shopping online. Looks will always be subjective. But I'm not totally enamored with the darker skinned Brazillians. Don't get me wrong. My last few chicas in both Tijuana and Medellin were very dark. (Cuban and Colombian, respectively but could very well be mistaken for African) But the Brazillan morenas just aren't super attractive to me. I imagine in person, I'll feel very differently. LOL (Don't flame me. It's just subjective).

Yep, I experienced the same thing, many full moons ago in Thailand and most recently in Phils.
In Subic City/Olongapo/Barrio Barretto and Cebu City (Phils), Macatan beach, I couldn't stop laughing at many of the young and older adults (some almost fully dressed in the sun...kkkk!), all trying to take in a beautiful hot day at the beach, by hiding in any shaded nook or cranny they could find. It was just hilarious. Picturesque sandy beaches, blue waters and blue skies, while most of the locals are hiding from the sun, because they don't want to get any darker then they already are.
On Alona Beach (Bohol/Cebu, Philippines), it was the exact same thing with my Filipina girl (and the locals), ducking and hiding out of the sun. Well, I guess that's just more beach for the me, the tourists and the kids, who were a joy to watch, still playing on the beach without such "sun phobia" hangups.

If things like service and predictability are more important, stay at a hotel.
Both, hotels and airbnbs, may or may not be affordable or guest-friendly, so you must read airbnb listings carefully. As for GF-friendly hotels, there is plenty of info in this thread.
For limited budget, look for hotels or rentals 2-3 blocks away from the beach, they tend to be considerably cheaper. Also, if you're not crazy about the beach, stay at a Centro hotel instead of Copacabana.
But nowadays we're in the revenge travel mode, so expect to pay more than you would've a few years ago.

Accommodation costs will eat a lot of it.
$300-$400 a day is the rough number. That is including hotels but excluding flights. Less than that and the quality of your experience is going to be lower.
I would rather go for a shorter trip if the budget is that tight.

I forgot to describe myself and my preference to serve as a reference point in the last post so I'll do it here.

I went to Centauro terma Saturday afternon. The reception was helpful and explained the system to me. I paid 140 reais for the entrance. Showered. Another great day.

A while back, a fellow monger put out his budget and I thought the responses were helpful. So I just hope for a general reality check on my own budget.

A while back, a fellow monger put out his budget and I thought the responses were helpful. So I just hope for a general reality check on my own budget.

I flew from SP to Rio on Latam. At first booked a ticket from GRU to GIG, realized that is stupid.

Guys when in Brazil don't "trip" on tipping. Bottom line just don't do it in most circumstances. There are three Brazilian carriers: LATAM, Azul and GOL. Some folks prefer one over another, I personally don't care. To me, they all offer nearly identical service.
If you're using Google Flights, try the following combinations.
SDU-CGH -- this is ideal, from the center of one city to the center of another.
SDU-GRU.
GIG-CGH.
GIG-GRU.
There is also a "secret" Rio airport RRJ in Barra the Tijuca that you can use to fly to CGH on Azul. Never tried it myself, though.

You can buy it or you can find it on the high seas. This immensely helped me out on my very first trip. It literally starts with a man trying to speak to a Brazilian woman.
For Google Translate, I suggest downloading the required dictionaries for offline use in the app. You might not always have a good enough signal inside a room.
Once you are there, you will be immersed so you will pick the language up faster. The slang will be slightly harder to get but you can find resources recommended by Vagabunda (a few youtube channels with subtitles etc). In this board.
A good connection might be hard unless you repeat. An interview beforehand will help you reduce bad connections (please check Bubba boy's guide here or Bwana Dik's on the web). Always say you are there for 3 months etc for work.
You might have to try a few and where you think there is a connection, you can repeat. Or you can get their number after the first session and pull them for daytime or weekends. 2. AFAIK, you can't buy a SIM card at GIG, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.
3. I sometimes do have issues connecting to free WiFi at GIG, so I intend to travel with an international E-Sim card from now on. Costs less than $10 and perfect for emergencies.
4. Should you not be able to connect, you can catch a cab on the departure level for a little less.

F.1. Unfortunately, just having SPF is not enough. I tried using it two years in the row in two different malls, and every time they 'rerouted' me to use a time-consuming estrangeiro path: buy a SIM card, make an appointment in the store with your passport, a clueless agent calling for a supervisor, and a phone line with an English-speaking agent (I used TIM because VIVO didn't provide service to foreigners at all). Still, to me all was done in one day but took about 2 hours all in all.
I'm also thinking about getting an eSim service but, unlike Europe, the backwater country of Brazil doesn't have any prepaid eSIM voice plans, only data. Still, if it works with Zap, that should be enough, I think. And yes, it costs too much, although three.com/ hd is slightly cheaper than Airalo.
3. Did these terminals ask for the pin number? I always take a Barclays card with me that allows you to preset a pin number for these occasions. Never had to use it in Brazil though, only in Europe.
CPF is required to purchase a SIM and activate a SIM card at any store. I bought mine off the the streets of Copacabana, on Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana and it worked fine. It was by those little roadside stalls that sells magazines and groceries.
