I would write your experience off as a combination of a rare electrical & communications fuck up unless it happens to you again.

Interesting intel, where are you talking to these girls who refuse airbnb? In person you should have no issue convincing them to come to the airbnb, especially at places like dolce vita. Hotel generally if you have your own room and book for 2 in a decent busy hotel you'll be able to bring one up. You just never know when you run into hater security though. This is an excellent highlight comparison of the 2 cities. Girly wise, SP has clinicas and boates. RJ has prives and termas. It is hard to predict which town will capture the heart of any 1st time traveler, they both have their positives, so if one has the time, I think it is best to check out both places to see which town you prefer. Best neighborhood is Centro or one of the favelas like Rochina. You can just walk out some random days and times and the girls are just walking around for their new guys. We only like going to the termas because we don't like bringing them back to our places so much.

I am not a Prive fan either. Plus 1 for Sao Paulo which has some worthwhile clinicas that I like which are located in reasonable residential neighborhoods. Advice when in RIO?CC, either approach you mention will work when it works. I personally prefer the let it play out and see route because 1. I really do not like to negotiate specifics up front and 2. I do not necessarily want to bareback every girl I shag. The closest GF hotel to Ipanema seems to be Fairmont. Otherwise, JW Marriott and Hilton in Copa are GF, too.

Is this still the best advise or is it possible to get a tourist sim for a week by going to a store in rio sul shopping mall?

Landed in GIG, caught an Uber from the Airport to Copa. Cost $80, but gave him $90 since he waited while I searched for the pickup location. Taxis sent me to the wrong location of course LOL. The main things are.
1. Learn as much portoguese as possible before coming to Brazil.
2. Shorter term trips less than 7 days are going to be difficult because the girls are going to gringo you, ie, jack up the prices. Ideally at least 3 weeks, better yet 3 months is the right length for a trip.
3. I have been recently to Rio de Janeiro and met Vagabundo. It was a great time. It is my 4th or 5th visit to Rio, so check out my other reports. This report is only an add-on to my previous reports and some insights. Also please note that it is for someone that spends a bit more than just a short fuck in Centro Prives. I was looking for a girl to stay with me for longer time.
Hotels:
I stayed in Copacabana, I like it. It is close to Dolce Vita and Mab's and nicer to stay next to the beach. It is also 35 minutes drive from the center.
Be careful, most of the hotels does not like that you bring visitors. Although I had a room for 3 people one of the receptionist have made be some troubles but most of them were ok with me bringing girls. Make sure the girls are not dressed as hookers but dressed a bit more nicely and you will be able to let them inside the hotel.
DO NOT book and apartment from Booking.com - they don't let you talk with the owner before. I had lost money there.
Girls:
Had nice success in 4 x4; beautiful girls although a bit too much of cheap look. But that's the place I liked most.
Vagabundo took me to another Terma which was quite interesting.
Best way to find girls is to find a good girl that will bring her friends. Do not try to book a girl that your other girls is not familiar with. I made that mistake and I almost lost one of the girls I like. A 21 years old mulata with dreamy eyes.

It can be quite disgusting to see how the customers overindulge.

This is written for 1st timers trying to decide whether to visit Rio. My perspective is tourist first; monger second.
Rio itself -.
* Crime and personal safety concern I found to be overblown. You need to be careful of surroundings and stick tourist beach areas at night, but unless you're visiting a favela you will be fine.
* Stayed at JW Copa. Better than I expected. Had section on beach as well with security. They do register girls at front desk but it is no big deal.
* From tourist perspective, while the city isn't much, the surrounding scenery of Rio I was pleasantly surprised about. Hiked two days and saw great views of mountains, city, beaches. Hiked to Christ Redeemer on sunny day and it was magnificent. Did tandem hang glide on another sunny day and same. So, Rio is a 3–4-day trip for me from tourist perspective.
Girls -.
* If you like girls with some curves and ethnic flavoring (white / black mix and all between) then RIO is a ++. Who doesn't like that?
* Almost none spoke English, so it is wise to be at least a little conversational. I was and goes long way.
* I found most to be accommodating with some money thrown at them. I was BBFS most of the time.
* 60% from website -- Rioladies, Riossexsite and PA to my hotel. 30% two spas in Copa. Eden and DeliRioOriental. 10% from Bumble. Yes Bumble. This mix was mostly due to my specific needs (BBFS) and fact that I did mainly tourist stuff during day.
* Online. Generally add 5-10 lbs to any pictures they post and you have an idea who shows to your hotel. Online girls are hustlers. Even more so than SE Asia. Most will try to renegotiate price set upfront once they arrive. Simple no usually stops that, but it can ruin the mood. So be upfront before they arrive that you don't want to speak about money anymore. With that said 2nd best fuck came from 19 year old from Riosexiste. I had to pay for BBFS and generally it ran between 600-1000 reais for couple hours, multiple finishes.
* Spas. Both were good IMO. Eden 302 was 19 yr. Old but she wouldn't go unless covered. So BBBJ finished with her. $220 R. I left ate lunch and went back to Eden 402. Beautiful built black girl right out of the favela. She was $220 R house fee + $500 R for BBFS. Went to her next day as well. DeliOriental was again same story. So your 30 minutes are likely at the lower end of an incall. I don't know how much most people are paying, but likely your sweet spot should be around 120 reais for 30 minutes.

Its the rare exception that will charge extra for kissing. Please don't bring tipping for extras to Brazil.

Thanks in advance for any intel.Rio Othon is definitely guest friendly. But unless money is not an issue, I suggest not wasting your money staying there as it's way overpriced for what it is. The rooms are run down; you are pretty much paying for the ocean views. I would rather use that money on some close up Brazilian bunda views.
Ibis CC Posto 2 is guest friendly. Book for 2 adults, when making the reservations to be on the safe side.

This is written for 1st timers trying to decide whether to visit Rio. My perspective is tourist first; monger second.
Rio itself -.
* Crime and personal safety concern I found to be overblown. You need to be careful of surroundings and stick tourist beach areas at night, but unless you're visiting a favela you will be fine.
* Stayed at JW Copa. Better than I expected. Had section on beach as well with security. They do register girls at front desk but it is no big deal.
* From tourist perspective, while the city isn't much, the surrounding scenery of Rio I was pleasantly surprised about. Hiked two days and saw great views of mountains, city, beaches. Hiked to Christ Redeemer on sunny day and it was magnificent. Did tandem hang glide on another sunny day and same. So, Rio is a 34-day trip for me from tourist perspective.
Girls -.
* If you like girls with some curves and ethnic flavoring (white / black mix and all between) then RIO is a ++. Who doesn't like that?.That is a really nice concise report!

But I have had good luck with seeking.Def generally agree w CC. But safety can be a little dicey at night. If you are walking down Atlantic (main copa beach street) late night then stay on the beach side of the road near the restaurants. On the other side there can be people you would rather not meetup with. We had two of our phones pickpocketed by prostitutes that came up and engaged us. We fended them off quick and only found out later our phones were gone.
Also def do Sugarloaf. It's pretty amazing. There is a restaurant at the top that has a great view.
U can def score hotties on Seeking there. Got a bit lucky but found a gem last time and have flown her a couple places since then. Total sweetheart and stunning.

To sum, was RIO worth visit? Yes but 3-4 days is enough. Take advantage of beautiful tourist things to do and not just punt for an hour and sit in your hotel. Would I go back? Probably not.
Personally, Thailand is still by far #1 for vacation + mongering. No place compares.I've spent a lot of time in both Rio and Thailand. It really depends on what one is looking for in a travel destination. It also depends on your affinity for Brazilian women versus Asian women.
I'm mostly a beach and chillin' guy. You sound like you like to be more active. When I'm not at the beach in Rio, I can explore Centro (daytime only) or go drinking and dancing in Lapa. Senhor Vagabundo will tell you to check out Barra. I do like the beaches in Thailand, but there is something about being in a big city and walking to the beach. And I like the authentic Thai food very much.
It used to be easier to build a rapport with a Brasileira and have her hang with you / show you around Rio. That's probably a true statement for Thailand, but it's relatively easier and Thai girls usually know some rudimentary English. It's still not impossible to hire a sex pal / guide in either destination.
Rio and Thailand are just so different.
