Recent change to the P4P scene are insane. Scort Show and L'uomo are long gone. Balcony is full of creeps and finding a doable there is like looking for needle in a haystack scenario. I'm a bit frustrated because I'm making my next Rio trip in two months and trying to find a descent plane fare. I wanted to make a full two week trip like I have been doing during end of the year. I honestly suggest you opt for an apartment. Then, you have the freedom to bring in whoever whenever, as long as you're having fun within your private space.
If not, and the hotels are not girl friendly, then you can rent a love-motel room for 3h to 6h. You can find some starting at less than R$40 to super luxury ones at R$300+ (VIP Suites).
Some of the rooms in the VIP Suites are so cool, in addition to the ceiling and wall mirrors, they have a camera that you can use to watch yourself fucking the girl on the big screen TV.

Ironically, the upcoming World Cup and the Olympiad has caused several of the love motels to refocus their target markets to the legitimate tourism industry and they have converted back to emphasize daily and seasonal rates to tourists rather hourly stays for lovers.

I have been following this thread for years, and it has been my understanding that :
* In Rio de Janeiro, almost NO hotel is Girl Friendly.
* In Sao Paulo, almost ALL hotels are Girl Friendly.
In any case, call them or email those specific hotels and ask if bringing in a guest is accepted or not. I do this with apartments, and until now, they all say that guests are accepted. Some say "Just don't choose a girl that is a screamer" LOL.
I honestly suggest you opt for an apartment. Then, you have the freedom to bring in whoever whenever, as long as you're having fun within your private space.
If not, and the hotels are not girl friendly, then you can rent a love-motel room for 3h to 6h. You can find some starting at less than R$40 to super luxury ones at R$300+ (VIP Suites).
Some of the rooms in the VIP Suites are so cool, in addition to the ceiling and wall mirrors, they have a camera that you can use to watch yourself fucking the girl on the big screen TV.

So inflation in Brazil has been 8% on average the last 2 years. Guaranteed raises (per the union) have run at around 7-8% last 2 years for software engineers. It's probably closer to 15% in terms of real prices in the big cities like RJ and SP. That is, base inflation (national) plus prices continuing to surge in the high-demand areas (Zona Sul, etc.). This is because prices take a while to cool off even if the economy itself is slowing down (which it is). In fact, the software union tried to get a guaranteed raise this year of 7. 5% and the businesses rejected it as being too high. So it will probably be around 6. 5% instead.
This hit home when one of my amigas, who I hadn't seen in a few months, pro-actively called me to schedule a get-together. And subsquently asked for a raise in my house rate LOL. From R$200 to R$250. She flat out said she was broke, and I kind of believe her. R$220 / hr at 502 plus $20 entrada. So kind of in the same ballpark, I guess.
I need to get out and hit termas some more and refill the sales funnel LOL.

So, I've got a Brasileira living with me in my condo in the states now. Friday, Saturday NO sleep, techno funk 8 hours straight of dancing at house parties by the beach with her friends; I don't do the same stuff the Brazilians do to get that effect. Finally got off my ass and left work "early" to go to Centro. Hit 4x4 as I hadn't been there for a while and wanted to see the situation.
Arrived at around 7pm. It was *PACKED. I was concerned at the line of dudes going in, more concerned when they gave me a key for the 2nd locker room, even more concerned at the crowd in the bathroom / showers, and then finally when I hit the main boate, just pissed off LOL. I kept on walking to the bus stand to catch a bus back. The second time, I went to MV30 but got lost and then wandered back to the candelaria at the end of Vargas. Without going into too much detail on this thread, as there is a separate thread for accommodation, a simple answer is to use a motel. There's a shitty one in north Centro I've used that's very handy but of course Copa girls look aghast at the thought of going there. There's a very upscale motel within walking distance of VM that will impress anyone (except a non-pro, who generally thinks motels are no-no's unless she's married, in which case they're a yes-yes). But Centro is less attractive if you want to spend evenings in Copa. For Tijuca, if its a short time (eg I'm just off the plane and want to go to VM without bringing home a carry-out) there's a first-rate Tijuca hostel that's walking distance from VM and easy connection to central Tijuca. In Centro, for reasonably upmarket, either of the Ibis hotels allow visitors with no questions (unless you push it too far). The Formule next to the Ibis just off Carioca, by Lapa, is slightly cheaper but not worth the savings. The traditional cheapo hotel opposite both costs next to nothing, is seedy, but costs next to nothing. Be careful in the main street going past the cathedral to Lapa if you stay in any of these three of course. Great location otherwise, next door to cheap termas, near shops markets bars restaurants nightclubs, Carioca metro, easy bus to VM.
For safety in north Centro, I practiced getting to know the area by day until it was second nature. It's essential I feel not to look as if you are lost when walking around there at night - both for how one feels and also how one looks.

IMHO, the sweet spot for the "market" for P4P since 2008 has moved to the proximity of Red Light District "terma" (how it's listed on brazilian boards) and the Tijuca prives, like Annes, Mix, and Massagem Tijuca. The motel that you reference would be within a healthy man's daylight walking distance of all of the above (and Mosaico, VM). This is per the brazilian boards. Always doing internet recon for my next RJ trip!
There's a very upscale motel within walking distance of VM that will impress anyone (except a non-pro, who generally thinks motels are no-no's unless she's married, in which case they're a yes-yes).

It's a self-contained village and a lot of people are very proud of it. There is no pre-screening that you get elsewhere so you will see hundreds of very ugly horrible women. It's a free market and only suitable for those that like to dig for the gems. It is dangerous if you are a big loudmouth. There are no concessions for gringos. I'm not recommending you go there or don't go there. But it is misleading, based on inadequate knowledge, to say it is dangerous when we talk all the time about Copa (which looks safe and isn't). Some of the streets nearby are not recommended. The one or two girlie bars immediately outside of VM are not recommended. But for experienced mongers who know how to navigate cheaper areas and have at least an idea of how to blend in, there is little or no danger. Ironic that someone uses the name as their handle and doesn't know the place well enough to have a good time there.
You don't need to tell anything to the owner. I have used AirBnB in Rio for two times over the past three months and it's a great option. Specially compared to hotels, which are more expensive and have a lot of limitations.
Just find something that suits you and rent the whole apartment. Whatever you do in the apartment is up to you. Had a short walk, paid 50 R$ and got in. (part of the fee gives you free drinks)
My first impression was – ugly ladies night. But slowly the pretty girls (not too many) came in and I started to feel better &61514;

Neither am I averse to supporting the community as long as I am not being ripped off.
I mostly find it a reasonable balance time-wise with Centro for daytime and VM for evenings / nighttime, and Maua plus the north-of-Vargas cheapies as alternatives if they happen to be hooching.
No denying the glitz of Copa or attractions of other areas but I mostly base where I am in RJ on factors other than p4p anyway. I just like it to be available as required, inexpensive and without too much hassle.
I've only ever stayed at Canario by the hour, and agree with Carlos about the cleanliness. Some of the casas at VM are intentionally cramped and off-putting and Canario offers good value. I've also had girls unwilling to go there though. Not just economics but Canario is also in between of several regular Fri / Sat night busy places so not exactly discreet for the 'part-timers. ' Gallant however is like a proper hotel, beautiful reception, spacious breakfast room and all the facilities of a good hotel, and good rates if you stay for several days or a week.

Should you decide to stay in one, you'll be required to pay the FULL rental fee upfront, plus AirBnB fee. All well and good, when things go as planned. However, should something go amiss with your trip, where you have to cancel or postpone, the most you can hope for is 50% return of your rental fee. (IF, the property owner agrees to it.) Owner CAN return 100% but that's not going to happen. AirBnb, keeps their fee, of course. You'll be paying with your home currency too. There may also be a departure cleaning fee depending on the property. The accommodations are run like hotels, with check-in and check-out times. If you have a late departure flight, you maybe Shit out of Luck, unless you come to an agreement with the property owner. On the plus side, it's all done very efficiently. Proceed with caution.

Had a free night so decided to revisit some old centro favorites.
Hit Cancun around 6. 30pm on a Tuesday. Tuesday and Friday nights are Pagode (Brazilian folk / jazz) nights with live music. Entrada is R$60 that goes to consumption. Other nights the entrada is just R$40. This Tuesday it was PACKED with dudes. Seriously probably 40 dudes in the boate when I get there (thankfully only 1 with his robe down to his waist) and then up to 50+ when the music started at 7pm. The selection of girls was meh. I'd say 20 girls at first rising to 30+. Girls were cycling up from the whiskeria (you can tell because they are wearing dresses. Every other girl in the boate was in bikinis, and the whiskeria girls later changed into bikinis). Saw some ex-MC girls there. Nobody really to write home about. Maybe 1-2 doable in a pinch but a lot of thicker, big-butt types. Not a ton of young fresh talent either.
I know Bubba Boy loves Cancun's "facilities" but honestly they have never done it for me. There is like 1 bathroom per floor / 1 toilet. The one on the floor above reception is perhaps your best bet to find a clean stall that's not a disaster. The shower situation is weird. As far as I know, they only have showers in their SAUNA on the 3rd floor above receiption. There is 1 hot / cold shower and 3 cold ones. So there I am naked waiting for 2 dudes to finish using the one shower with hot water. Meh. Plus there was a pretty strong "locker room" smell in the locker rooms, and definitely mold smell in the stairways. I think time is taking its toll.
Anyway, I'd go back another night that's less packed (like Mon / Weds / Thurs) but the talent level wasn't awesome. If there was a girl I liked there, I can see why the Pagode would be fun. It's great to watch if you're just killing time and / or you have a girl there to squeeze. I saw several guys leaving to go up with chicks during the show. But when you only have 1 night free, you need to make every minute count.
Headed out around 8pm to T65, just 1 block away. The street that 65 is on is a bit safer / better lit now due to night classes at the marketing college on the corner near the Devassa, and the opening of the renovated Sul America building. There were still people chatting on the street and at Devasa at 9. 30 when I left.
I hadn't been to T65 for 4+ months maybe 5-6. Prices have gone up R$30 for 40 mins or for 1 hour, with the extra going to the girl. All-in with entrada, room, and girl, it's now R$360 for 40 mins and R$430 (!) for an hour. Zona Sul prices.
I really like T65's facilities. The lockers are good, the attendants there are nice (one dried my clothes for me after I arrived in a downpour) , the bathroom is clean and well maintained (3-4 showers, at least 2 of which are hot) , and I really like the steam room. Which like nobody uses so you can have it to yourself. I like the boate as it is not too big, there is good viewing of all the areas, and the music is never so loud that I can't talk to the chicks. If it wasn't so expensive it would be a good place to hang out often.
However T65 has suffered always (since I got here in 2010) from not having a lot of HOT girls. It has a number of thicker-butt Brazilian chicks, and some that I saw were roundly absurd. It has been missing younger and / or thinner chicks. I showed up with some trepdiation as a gal pal of mine recently returned to work there, and I was hoping to check out some other chicks there. I waited about 30 mins in the boate without seeing any new reasonable talent, and my friend showed up. She looked super hot, especially compared to what was available, and well let's just say the Cartman is a weak, weak man. While we chatted and fondled, I did see at least 2 very doable specimens enter. But I was already committed at that point. A fun time was had in the loom (as they say in Thailand). Total bill was R$464 including her drinks (which, honestly, sometimes you have to suck up once you know the chick and she gives you good service). I may have to put her back in my home rotation (at R$250 a throw). If 65 would just staff up with hotter girls, it would be worth the price and high on my list. As it is, you can roll the dice at 4x4 or 502 and probably come out 70% as good for like 60% of the cost.

t502 was sort of scraping the bottom today and there were a lot of office workers and quite a few milfs, one of which asked if i liked blondes.
i was able to to diplomatically push her away by saying i preferred morenas and mulatas.
rates are t502:40 minsatr$140, 60 minsatr$170, r$ 200/220 respectively for a suite.

True Balcony fashion the GDPs post up in front of them, show their wares front & back, and they go NUTS. To their credit it wasn't because they were stars, it was because it was their first ever buffet. Mine too, but I read about it and I'm not an 'attention monger' like them. So they are very reserved and even push back the aggressive mongers. Until alcohol reared its head. They start letting chicks come over for interviews but they heeded my advice and didn't buy girls drinks. I am the translator in my 1% Port. Prices ranged from R$150- way up to R$600. I shit you not. Average request is R150-R200 for an hour, R300 for all night. Those prices are meaningless to one of them so I struggled all night holding him back.
So after a couple of hours they decide to session. BTW we got there about 10, maybe 25 GDPs that doubled later. We go back to the apartment and session. They both had a great session from start to finish. I didn't. My session went great at first. 2 on me sucking with no condom (I don't have the useful abbreviations handy) , multiple positions and contortions, sexo anal for both, and then 1 did the weirdest thing. I give the chic R30 cab fare and after she loudly talked on the phone & to her friend at 4am she leaves. Didn't take a taxi, the other didn't either. I go back and continue. She's pleading for me to be quiet while I'm doing just that and this mean Carioca is really getting loud talking trash. I snapped. Told her very nicely but forcefully to get out of my face. She did. Argument over but I'm fuming. And I still have to interview chicks. By now my boss is flat out toasted and gets mean with some of them who aggressively get in his face. This time I don't intervene I let him continue. In comes a solid and beautiful 8. 5. She stays to herself looking like a young angel and my boss spots her first. I agree she looks like an angel. After watching her for about 10 min he requests an interview, she didn't. R600. Laugh. While she's in his arms he tells me to translate back, tell this B she can take a hike. Mean I know but I'm fuming and ready to leave. She stays and negotiates down to R200 but not all night. He declines because he's too hammered. We leave. As we are walking to the rental car here comes my GDP who told everything. She's pleading and I don't give a F and keep walking. She continues to walk and a nice 6 passes us and my boss pounced. After negotiations she wants R200 for all night but no sex until in the morning (he's hammered). They agree but she says she has to leave before 7am. All agree. Except my boss likes my GDP and wants me to take her home too so we can 'all party. ' I relent.
That was dumb but it continues. Thanks again Erecticus for nudging me to post a full report with truth. So we get back to the apartment and I start drinking Vodka and she goes outside and smokes marijuana. (I smell it on her) I get toasted and argue with her on google translate til 6am! I see the sun coming up and go to sleep. My boss wakes me up after a reported ok session, BTW she banged on our door at 7am, an hour after I was sleep, to wake him up so she can get paid and leave, to go to a conference. At about 9:30am. I get up groggy and tell the GDP she has to leave. I give her R100 for nothing. I know. She asks for cab fare. I erupt. I said I'm going to either take my R100 back or she's going to STFU. She takes it and leave with a garota kiss at the door.
Now, this is a truthful report and one I didn't want to do. I read everything and hit the ground running IMO. I hit 4x4, about 10 massagems, and everything else available is still on the list. The problem was two things: Balcony and alcohol. I'm a hard drinker and struggled at 4x4 to simply drink water as others recommended. After a lot of patience and sessioning with a nice 7. 5 I went back to the main area and had some beer. Say what you want. I'm having a blast away from Balcony. In Lapa there are several modest motels on Av Gomes Freire between Av Henrique Valadares and Rua Rio Branco (Shiek and Encontros are two of them.) There is the Andorinha on rua Rezende just off rua Mem de Sa. For better quality try Fluminense on the corner of Mem de Sa and Rua dos Invalidos. They have been remodelling and converting rooms to full daily rates but they still have rooms with hydromassage. Another option nearby is Snob hotel on the corner of Av Henrique Valadares and Rua Riachuelo. Also check out Diamond in Gloria, which has been converting to daily rates. They may still have a few half day rooms. Nearby in Gloria is the Love Time, another modest unit. I have patronized all of these, Fluminense more than the rest.
I've been in love motels in Lapa that should need a extra large dose of viagra and a blunted sense of smell to do anything. Some are superbly disgusting, fit for little other than the unpleasant specimens living on the street near Praca Tiradentes; or the TVs the other side perhaps. Yet you have to go past respectable places to walk in so one hell of a walk of shame. Lapa is the only place I've looked at normal small hotels that have prominent anti-p4p 'family hotel' signs as you walk in. But unless it is really the jacuzzi you area after, the Ibis, a 100yds from Scenarium, is ideal (rent by the room, not by the number of people). Lapa does have access to the best and worst districts on its doorstep though, and PoucoLouco sounds like he knows more of them than I do, so maybe check out his leads first.

This is the most detailed report about my happiest place on earth in a while. I can explain to you what the Colet means. This is basically your swing room. I don't consider anything I spent there (time or money) too bad compared to US, European, and UAE prices, but if you guys are complaining that it's expensive and the selection is poor compared to "back in the good 'ole days". Geez, I can't even imagine what it must have been like! I literally fucked my brains out while I was there both with "working" (GDP) and non-working girls! For the GDP's I met and picked-up at Balconey, I never paid more than R$300 to take them back to my place all night, which was usually two pops and a pop in the morning! Now, I would tip them R$50 for breakfast and a cab in the morning so all and all. I'm out R$350 ($175 USD) to spend anywhere from 8-12 hours with a girl (sometimes more) and basically fuck as much and as crazy as I wanted. I thought that was a hell of a good deal, at least for me! sorry for such a late report but after getting back to the lone star state a mountain of problems were waiting for me. i've posted some bits and pieces before though about balcony. anyway, it was my first rio trip and i got all the intel off of this forum before heading down and completed 52 of the 60 pimsleur port lessons so i was ready. made plenty of rookie mistakes but had a blast. went with my boss and another guy so couldn't go where i wanted but i did ok.

YGTbh you have to do some homework and RTFF because your question is too big to answer in a short paragraph. Just too many variations. It's not pigeon hole-able the way many Asian or European cities are. For Rio, read Bubba's Guide and then Spertos listings, which you can find easily enough on the forum.
SP and RJ are very different. I find SP more intense in an international-city-sort of way. Rio is intense but in a fun way. People in SP work hard. If I dare generalise, one might say people in Rio work in order to go down to the beach.
I've been going to Rio for years and it is an easy city to love. I am still trying to get a grip of SP, but my enthusiasm for the place is different. Rio has the power to transport you to a sort of Disneyland where reality takes on a whole different meaning.

Brazil continues to be great with the same scene and excellent selection. The only exception is Copacabana.
Unfortunately Brazil has become more expensive. Not a big problem if you skip the expensive termas etc.
