Wow! Prices are high! I've not been to Rio in 5 years, but I think I will stick to the clinicas in Sao Paulo at 150-250 per hour.As far as termas, seems like 4 x4 is the better deal of the major termas. I took a pict of their price list a few days ago and it's as follows: 270 r -30 minutes Cabine, 390 r-1 HR Suite, 450 r-1 HR Super Suite, 520 r- 1 HR Colectivo, 600 r- 90 mins Suite Rei, 650 r- 90 minutes Suite Sultao, 700 r- 1 HR Suite 2 x1. $60 r entrance waived if you take a girl before 6 pm. I have no idea about any of those suites besides the basic cabine for 270 R, so don't ask me what they mean. LOL. They also don't charge extra if you use a card like other places do.

That's it?Besides Dolce Vita, there is Casa Blanca on Rua Duvivier, which is around the corner from Dolce Vita (opposite of the corner where the park is located). There is also Kalabria on Belfort Roxo, across from the park that's between Dolce Vita and Mab's, next to the Bob's. Barbarella's, Sensoo and Ciccolina (has a new name now that starts with M) are all in that general vicinity close to Mabs. If you are in that area, plenty of dudes passing out flyers trying to get customers to those spots.
I don't have any experience at these spots, but those are some of the available night options in Copa, beside Mab's.

1. Quatro x Quatro (aka, 4 x4). (centro area).
2. Monte Carlo (Copacabana area).
3. Centaurus (Ipanema area).
4. Solarium (Jardim Botanico / Lagoa area).
Read up in the RIO forum for other places to enjoy.
5. Copacabana area Late night stop by Mabs (something to do, Quality may not be there but YMMV) or La Dolce Vita Nightclub.
Escorts or twitter / Instagram providers are something to consider but may take time to develop or may not show up on schedule or pictures not representative of current look. In my opinion you want to look at and interact with and negotiate directly hence suggestions 1-5.

After 4-5 trips to RIO I just happened to end up at an airbnb apartment at a place called Real Residence Hotel, 500 ave princess Isabela. Its like 4 long blocks to the beach. Its defiantly visitor friendly. If I am there 2 weeks and bring a different girl 14 nights nothing is said and more than once I have brought in 2 girls with no problem. They don't check ID but I think if instead of walking straight to the elevator if I would stop at the counter and tell the chica they need your ID they would check it. When going to RIO I go through the airbnb 2 hundred or so listing and look for an apartment at the real resident. If memory serves me right (ha that's a joke, I can't remember what I had for breakfast) I think only 1 time I have paid over $50.00 us per night. This place is big it must have at least 500 rooms. All I know for sure is it has 7 elevators. I would guess that airbnb has access to 15-20 apartments. Who knows. One thing I like about it is it has a restaurant. The food is not that great but if you wake up in the morning with the need for a little food, breakfast is about $5. 00 for all you can eat. It has a website but you will need to do a little research. Good luck.

They don't check IDYou do realize this is 99% of the apartments that you will rent in Rio don't you? Only thing about this one is that it is pretty far from the beach. For comparison, I was going to rent one at Princesa Isabel 7 the other day. I could see the Hilton and the beach out of the window. It was 250 reais / night. I had to turn it down when they told me I would have to be out by 2 pm because another person was coming the day I was leaving. I do not usually leave until after 6. But I happened to go to the lady I normally use and get a way better apt for the usual 220 reais / day 1 block from the beach (not that it mattered since it has been raining everyday.).
Talking to the girl for a couple of minutes is in your best interests. With the clothes change and small talk, you can be in the room in 10 minutes after entering the terma.They would like you to be decisive. My last trip girls did not receive drink commission so they would appreciate a programma over a redbull. I was generous with drinks my last trip. Not so much in Sampa considering the high end places were 80 R.

Of course I have known this forever so I stopped by the grocery store and bought me a bottle of 51 cachaca before leaving town. It was 12 reais. A buddy of mine came into town saying how he needed to go to 4X4 because he told some chick he would come see her. I am like dude if you already know the chick why do you still want to go through the middle man? He insisted though. He was going to take an Uber from Copacabana, but I told him that I should show him how to take the metro. Hell, the metro is only R4.15 ($1) and way less traffic. True, most Duty Free prices suck, as duty is only relevant when comparing prices; but in some cases purchases make sense, like in Singapore. So, $100 USD is more than BR $400 today. The question is where in the world would you prefer to spend $100 USD on short-time defined anyhow? You can't pay less or more, and travel costs are out of equation for the purpose of my question.

I just came back from a week in Rio. This time, I stayed in Copa and had a mix of civilians and pros. Didn't even make it to Centro.
Hotel: Pestana Atlantica. Honestly, this wasn't my first choice--I booked because everything filled up for the Rock in Rio Fest. It turned out to be a gem. I had a nice, clean room with a sliver of an ocean view. Breakfast included, though it was the same good every day. I didn't even know it was girl friendly until I read it here today. There are a lot of tourists in and out, so it shouldn't be a problem. I had no trouble at all bringing a civilian in. There is a cool bar with rock music and live bands just down the street. I think it is my go-to place now.
The Girls: First, I went to all three places in Nossa Senhora de Copacabana 583: on the 2/3/4 floors. The one on the 4th floor is like the places in the office buildings in Centro. Got the line-up, picked a girl who was just my type: tall, full figured, big boobs. She was professional--CBJ--but we broke the bed. The 3rd floor was a local's place with one big room--missed it. There could be many reasons for people to buy at duty free shops; they are lazy, they are afraid the bottles may break in their suitcase (never happened to me), most people are already up to their free baggage allowance limit, they finally remember the cousin who takes care of the cat etc.
I calculated that my next trip every waking hour (just airfare and hotels) cost me 56 reais, meaning every hour I waste doing some stupid shit, I pay 56 reais to do that.
It tickles me that some people go to extremes to find the currency exchange where they can get 50 reais more for their euros or dollars. If the exchange rate is in the right ballpark, I just change my money and don't think about it anymore. This of course is not applicable to cachaca, which you can find in every corner store in Brazil.

If you make caipirinhas, the sugar will mask any harshness. However, I do like sipping on a smooth cachaca.
Sperto must know muddling the mint with sugar releases more oils from the mint. There's a bit of natural chemistry in a good caipirinha. I've tried sweetening caipirinhas with Equal. Stevia works better.

There is a thread called Portuguese Words and Phrases at the bottom of the forum to discuss the Portuguese language. Also, I can correct the above translations or if someone else has the time.
I visited both 65 and Cancun while in Rio. I did not session at either termas, although there was some talent to be had, especially at Cancun. Termas 65 used to be my second favorite termas in Rio. It never got too crowded, but some really hot girls providing outstanding service used to work there. The place had a reputation for being a little bit more on the expensive side where middle class Brazilians would go, and I never had a bad time at 65.
That's why I was sad when it closed briefly, but it's been back in operation for awhile. Unfortunately, it apparently has not returned to its prior form though. There were maybe only about 12 or so girls on duty, with maybe a couple of them being attractive, and only a handful of clients in attendance maybe. One of the less attractive girls approached me, but I was more interested in fiddling with my smart phone LOL!
I stayed for about an hour plus or so before walking over to Cancun where the scene was better. More energy with more girls and clients. I saw at least two or three girls who I thought were very fuckable (maybe more depending on your tastes). I had a nice conversation with a cute blonde who approached me, but still I didn't pull the trigger. Don't recall why, but was probably because at that point of the trip my batteries were running a little low.
Anyway, it's funny how things can change. Termas 65 used to be the club with a vibe while Cancun was usually dead. I think 65's closing really hurt it, and so far it has not fully recovered. In fact, if I recall correct, several 65 girls moved over to Cancun when the former closed. In any event, on any future trip to Rio, I would definitely stop by both again to see what's on offer.

My biggest fear in BA85 (or U24) was that I would secure the handrail with my hands. I always picked up leaflets at a close by pharmacy before entering those places. Leaflets on the handrails to avoid the dirt of... you name it.

The people that worked there, from the receptionist to the girls, were top notch. There is this one girl I sessioned with nearly 3 years ago who I still think about frequently.
I hope they decide to rebuild 4 x 4, it has a special place in my heart.

I am sorry to hear about 4 x4. When I use to visit Rio frequently during the Club Help days. I use to love going to 4x4 before hitting club help at night. That was always my concerned about 4 x4. One way in and one way out. If there was a rear exit to the building, it wasn't marked well This fire remains me of the fatal night club fire in Santa Maria that killed over 200 people. The front entrance was the only way in and out of the night club.
Really sorry to hear about the fire at 4 X4. I used to frequent and really like that terma back in the day. My favorite memory was 12 years ago and involved a garota who gave me superlative service. It's closed on Saturdays, as are most Centro termas. Monte Carlo, Solarium, and probably Centaurus are open on Saturday. With much apprehension I decided to try Cancun for the 1st time last Tuesday. I've narrowed my next trip down to Rio or Bogota, I loved Medellin but it's like three flights each way for me.

Monte Carlo was amazing. With this being my first trip to Brazil, I was pleasantly surprised to see how the mongering scene is set up here. By trying different methods, using an ATM connected to a major bank (not a stand-alone ATM at a hotel, for example) will net you the best bang (sic) for your buck. Even my regular "jewelry store / travel agent" sources came up woefully short compared to bank ATMs.

Kiosk next door to Bradesco Bank: 3. 67:1.
ATM at hotel: less than 3:1 (for use in emergencies only).

*My bank adds a $5. 00 out of system ATM fee, which knocks the rate down to 3. 90:1, but still significantly lower than any other option.
I still use a credit card at hotels and restaurants because I don't have to pay foreign currency exchange fees, and I get that day's exchange rate. But at Termas I use cash to take advantage of a fairly significant discount.

Just finished an incredible first time tour of Rio de Janeiro. Here are some things I wish I knew as a newbie.
The Sunday is a total dead day in Rio. All money exchanges, massage shops in Copacabana are closed! Nothing was open. It was a horrible situation as I didn't exchange money on sat which also happened to be a holiday. The only place to exchange money was Rio Sul shopping centre in afternoon which offered 375 for 100 USD. Luckily I managed to exchange at Real Palace Hotel in Copacabana at 390.
I should have made prior arrangements for Sunday. Ended up sleeping alone.
Rio does not have freelancer scene, Mab; s was dead or hopeless on 3 nights I visited before Sat. Had 2-3 fuglies outside with may be 2-3 inside. Nothing that I would like to put my paws on. May be it picks up a bit around midnight but I don't see the attraction to wait that long.
Despite trying hard, I could not get a tourist sim. It was very frustrating to find even Tim stores refusing to sell tourist "chip".
Some Taxi drivers are scoundrels, an asshole charged me almost 35 Reals extra during a short ride from Ipanema.
Uber is excellent in Rio and the way to go. Make sure to download offline translate which comes in very handy.
Saturday and Sunday Copacabana beach was full of predominantly black families, other days it was mixed and not so busy.
Rio is a safe city, the whole unsafe thing has been blown out of proportion by a factor of 10000. I travelled alone in Copacabana, Ipanema, leblon, Rio sul right upton 9 PM. No problem at all. Tons of peeps looking at their phones on streets. One needs to be careful as it is abig city but I found it to be safer than NY.
English is not widely spoken but people are friendly and sign language works well.

I asked few questions on this forum, you guys were very helpful in making my trip a memorable one so here is something from my side.
I arrived in Rio early morning and took uber from airport to Copacabana. About are 30 due to rush hour traffic. Checked in and went to Copa583 around 11 which became my default go to place. There were about 10 girls in line up, they all enter rooms, introduce themselves and kiss on the cheeks. All were quite enthusiastic. However about 70% were black, not my cup of tea. Settled on a slim beauty, Marcelli for an hour 170 or 180. The room was very clean and decent with a massage bed and a regular queen sized bed with glass shower. Excellent way to spend quality time with chicks without worrying about them going through your pockets when you are taking shower. The trash places in both cities have treated me very well, and I have found the true diamonds there.
This is a decent boate. No cover charge. R15 sodas. The chicks weren't my taste. Silicone, muscle, tats. OK crowd for midweek. I can't really compare to other nearby venues since it's not weekend. I really like Mab's because it's low cost. I haven't been to their competitor that starts with a M. They charge R100 for drinks.

If you have a small amount to exchange, do it where ever you like.
If you have a larger amount of cash to change, my advice is to do like this:
1. First check the rate on PM Turismo website:

The rate on PM Turismo website is decent, but you can expect a clearly better rate if you negotiate well with the cambios mentioned below.
2. Then you'll get an idea what's the going rate in the casa de cambios.
3. Go to centro and check out Casa Behar and PMTurismo on Av Rio Branco. Check the rates.
4. Then you head to Rua Xavier da Silveira in Copa. On that street you have 3 cambios and around the corner on NS Cop you have 2 more. In five minutes you can check the rate at all the cambios. BlameitonRio-Bobby will give you a bad rate. If you go to Berthas make sure you speak with the obese guy (the owner).
P.S If you change Euros you get a extra good rate if you have very neat and new 500 Euro bills.
Always negotiate with the owner. In Brazil everything is possible to negotiate.
When I arrive in Rio I usually end up with gaining R$500 just by comparing the rates.
P.S If you have really large amounts of cash you should find a doleiro.

P.S If you have really large amounts of cash you should find a doleiro.For large amounts I exchange far from Zona Sul.
Pretty much all tourists stay in Zona Sul so there is a large supply of dollars there. Go to non-tourist areas and the exchangers see hardly any dolar supply and need to get their dollars somewhere else.
When I exchange larger amounts outside main parts of the city I typically get 10-20 centavos more on the dollar over the best rates in Zona Sul.

Well this is a continuation from my report when I was there last month. This is help fellow first timers who are curious and / or need some help. After RTTF I went to other termas. The main one I hit were close to Copacabana area. I went to 4 x 4 it was OK didn't have much of selection. They were aggressive but no where near like Monte Carlo. This may been due a lot more guys being there. The 4 x 4 is in the centro area and was comparable in lounge area to the Monte Carlo. The entrance fee was 60 R compared to 120 R for the Monte Carlo.
We left went back to Monte Carlo same girls from previous night with a few more. As soon as we got in and like before girls were aggressive. I ignored them but they are persistent to make that paper. I finally settled for one after 20 minutes. Same routine as before they lead you to their locker room to change before going to room. I can't remember her name but she was a little older but Had a bigger ass. The session was good more GFE like and stayed the entire time. Tried to get a second one out but couldn't.
Our last night there we tried centaurs yes it is expensive. We went because a friend of a friend who lives there recommended it saying it had the hottest girls.
