OK, here's my patrol report with my best wingman yet.

I will use the numbering from the previous Barra patrol, which is reference below:

We went first to checkpoint 1 where we started, ie Transamerica.

Next we went to checkpoint 4 and 7, which is Perola Negra boate. It is simply the best boate in Brazil. OK, every man with a penis and fingers loves to debate this shit, but it just is. My wingman, mandingoblack agrees, though Vila Mimosa, which I call checkpoint 8 has better young girls, and of course at a better, lower price point (more on that below). Wingman was not in favor of going up to the 5th floor, so I agreed to head back to the street, and patrol to Posto 12. The hopping bar there is the package store / ice (gelo) store on the corner. We spoke to some obvious garota de programas on the street, but my wingman not wanting to ask for numbers from certain targets, we refrained, then ubered back to.

7. Checkpoint 7, paris cafe, which was closed, so we ubered to.

Checkpoint 4, where we foot patrolled to perola negra boate, which was also closed. From there I ubered back to checkpoint 1, and wingman ubered to Copacabana.

If you are mongering at Vila Mimosa or the darkside (north of Av Getulio Vargas in centro), you need a love motel to go to (instead of the shit room at VM), you can go to Motel San Diego, which happens to be closest to the central transportation hub.
In the case of VM you also have Hotel Canario on Rua da Cear, very close to VM.

Sperto is right, and I appreciate his detailed reports with maps, which I learned to be a RIo monger from in 2011, which was my 4th year coming to Rio and Brazil.

In fact, after my wingman and I left VM last night as I detailed in another report we walked up north on rua ceara, as can be seen on some of the maps I have screenshotted.

We walked towards rua Jose Eugenio, which is where that hostel I detailed in a report is located. THis route of walking north out of Rua Ceara, then left on Rua Jose Eugenio until the hostel has many many many very good quality street walkers (who if they find a client on the street, most in cars which pick them up, do not have to pay half of the money their pussy or ass or mouth makes to the casa in vila mimosa). Many of these street girls are "on their way" literally to VM, but stay on their feet for that extra 50% of their salary which is hard earned of course. The other motels near Vila Mimosa can readily be seen. My favorite always is Malaga, which has the best ambiance with the excellent restaurant, Aconchega Carioca, just down the street.

4 x4 Termas.

Went back a few times here as many poster's have stated it's their favorite place and I can see why. I actually went here on my 3rd day here but it seems I went to the bar area on the first floor instead of the actual terma which is on the second floor and who's door is on the left side of the building. Big difference. Same set up as Monte Carlo or Solarium but is pretty cheap or in my opinion best value for money. It was 70 BRL (drinks are included with the price I believe I only ordered water and some soda so I didn't see much of bump in the total) for entrance and 230 BRL for 30 mins with a girl. No difference if you paid cash or card which is really handy as I hated having to carry cash around all the time. The amount of girls in the place seemed to always be +10 but I went around 6-9 pm which I've been told is the best time to go from other posters and seems to be true for all termas. The girls here are pretty decent and very nice. A good amount of decent to hot girls in this place. Had 3 girls in one night here a thick redhead branca, a tall skinny loira and a petite brunette so the variety of girls here is really good. With everything it came to +900 BRL which is pretty good since all the girls I was with were all good performers. Rooms are ok but kinda odd as the toilet is with the shower so if you need to do some business use the bathrooms on the 3rd floor beforehand. Came here my last day as well and again was a good time although I had to leave early to catch my flight back home. I can see why this place get's alot of recommendations.

Solarium Termas.

Went here once but really liked this place. It's out the way from other termas but worth the uber trip. I forget the pricing here but I think it was 90 BRL entrance and 260 BRL for 30/40 mins so just a bit more than 4 x4 but not by much. You can also order some sushi / appetizers so that makes it a bit different from other places. The girls here are really relaxed and two girls came up and chatted with me to explain how the terma worked. None of the girls were asking for a drink or any of that BS. There was a good amount of girls and I had a hard time choosing so the quality was also really good here. I ended up picking this blonde girl with big TA (enhanced. SP's not worth your time unless you really do your research, you got to really look for your proverbial diamonds in the rough.

Plus, all the super hot working girls in Sao Paulo can be found partying' in Rio on the weekends!

Rio on the other hand is totally different animal, I'd take a fucked up day in Rio over a halfway decent day in Sao Paulo anytime!

About 7 years ago a gate agent was scrutinizing my visa, when I asked in anything was wrong. She explained that if they allowed someone to fly to Brasil who didn't have a valid visa, they would be fined 25,000 dollars for the infraction. I am sure there is some sort of penalty in place for the covid test as well.

IMHO: Sao Paulo only works if you live here and you've cultivated your own fav spots (which can take years). I'd give Sao Paulo a night or two or three, if you don't know the ropes you'll just be spinning your wheels for a week, you'll be bored AF. SP's not worth your time unless you really do your research, you got to really look for your proverbial diamonds in the rough.

My local contacts like IT pros say there will be blocos under the radar trying to party. I clipped the below from a local website, which my contacts suggested. Of course, they think the beaches will be open.

In any case my favorite time is after the carnival, and so I am not that concerned, and in fact, my rent at Transamerica was not increased for ano novo or carnival, so I am not that concerned on that score either.

If anyone has better websites and / or information with local blocos I would be interested; or anyone with information about the location or translation of any of the below.

I echo the points about RJ being better than SP because of beaches and hiking to locations like waterfalls on the transcarioca trail which is in Floresta Tijuca, IE the forest on the hills going up from gavea to christo redentor. These are truly awesome hikes and experiences which most tourists miss. I am on my 27th trip over 13 years and I am just scratching the surface.

Tenative plan. Closest country that has access to Colombia. Panama, peru etc.

The border closure took place Jan 29th. I purchased my ticket post 29th with expedia. Yes, they let you buy tickets to Colombia, absolute nuts. Comped a 1 year credit.

I finished it, on google play books. It's a fun fast read. As a PSA to we few, I have gone so far as to cut and paste Bubba Boy's guide. I concur with all his wisdom, with some notes of my own.

I also prefer the local places which are 1/4 the price of the tier 1 termas.

There are also a heap of Termas in centro ("center of the city" – about 8 kms or 5 miles north) area. Quatro por Quatro (4 x 4) is the biggest Termas in Rio and has 100+ girls at peak time, a sight to see. Centro Termas are about 40% cheaper than L'uomo and Monte Carlo, with the exception of Termas 65, which as of this update is just a little bit less. There are also a heap of smaller places in Centro that are 1/3 the cost of the big Copacabana places. There are also prives, which are like small brothels, and a bunch of other stuff. A Termas works like this: You get greeted by a receptionist at the entrance, they will speak English at the places mentioned above, some in Centro may not speak as much but you will get by. In really busy times, you may have to wait for a cabine to become available; this will give you another few minutes to fool around with the girl in the Boate before sexo (yes sexo=sex in Portuguese). I never mind the wait. After all I am on holiday, and it is not as if I have to rush to a business meeting. Waiting in the Boate, hanging with your friends and drinking is actually half the fun. . . Some would say it is more than half. After your interlude you can go back to the Boate and grab another one or just hang out (thank you lord for Vitamin V & see! In any night, a busy girl will only see 2 or 3 clients maximum over an 8-hour period, unless it is Carnaval or another busy time, hence there is a lot of down time built into the equation for fooling around. Less busy girls will only do 1 a day, if they are lucky. These girls work 6 days a week and it is part of their social life, hence fooling around is fun for them to. Most fellow mongers are quite friendly within a Termas, I have had many a good conversation over a few beers, just remember if you speak to a fellow monger try to keep who you nailed at other Termas quiet in front of the other.

Girls, they are severe gossipers. If a girl asks you where your fellow monger has been over the last few days, the correct answer is I do not know. The girls inside are on a "need to know" basis, they do not need to know anything you or your buddies get up outsider the Termas.

One thing to note: if you intend to see the same girl more than once be prepared for her to consider you her boyfriend. You don't believe me? Just wait! She will often be way more intimate during subsequent encounters, perhaps doing things she doesn't normally do with one-time punters. However the downside to this is she will be jealous as hell if you dare look at another girl within the Termas. You cannot officially take a girl out of a Termas, but you can do deals with her to see you after the Termas closes or before it opens. Be discreet when hooking up with them, they can officially get sacked for seeing clients – although I have only heard of this being enforced a couple of times and I think it was due to politics rather than the actual act itself. Many will literally insist you take their number. I have had many a girl hangout with me for gratis after or before work, but then I had seen these girls a few times in the Termas and intended to see them again within the Termas and of course there has been some kind of connection there. They also like going out with Gringos because we can actually afford to take them to places the local guys either cannot afford or just won't take them to (and I don't mean ultra expensive places, just normal restaurants). The girl will only agree to see you after work if she feels comfortable with you, this will be based on your past behaviour within the Termas and the amigos you associate with. If you can get her to agree to take the day off from work she will be fined at least are $ 100 (up to are $ 500 at some Termas on some days) from the Termas so you will have to build this into the equation if you are negotiating on a purely price basis, which could be up to are $ 150-are $ 400+ her fine (think are $ 200 as a good number). Its better to just hook up with them on their days off or outside work hours. For girls at Centaurus allow for higher figures – they tend to have it driven into them that they are worth more than other Termas, which of course is not the case.

To work in a Termas, a girl has to agree to work 5 or 6 shifts in the week, so you may get her to play with you on a night off; surprisingly I have found they are almost always available to fool around on their day off unless they have children etc. Some of course, never see any clients out of the Termas; however this is the minority. I don't mind buying an "expensive drink" for a girl, I can afford it. I just don't like the idea of being taken for a mug. There were also a few other positive things which led us to relax a little, we knew we were going to have a good time with those 2; sometimes everything just clicks and it did!

All the stuff Bubba Boy wrote was true. For example, I've had one wingman last week take a girl home from a terma and then complain that she had a big see section scar when he got her home and wasn't so psyched about that experience. Security is getting worse, especially in Copa:

3 weeks ago I was with a ISG member, walking back from Arpoador to COpa p5 for a meal. Along the way, aggressive panhandlers came up to us and put their hands on us, which I hate. I was wearing: Rio Fire Department shorts, Rio FB bought (casa bombeiros) red rash guard shirt, red boonie cover also bought at casa bombeiros. WHen the panhandlers started putting their hands on us, I put on the leather gloves I bought at the Fire Department store. It was for deterrence. Makes the other people out there more attractive victims. My ISG member buddy who was with me said he had been assaulted coming into a favela where he knows some people. Practice very good situational awareness, gents. I see the trends getting worse.

6 weeks ago, a similar thing happened late at night, on a short walk on av nossa Copacabana from posto 5 to 4, roughly, when I was going for an uber by myself after hanging out with a ISG member. Again, I put on my gloves, which are local bought. A bunch of agro pan handlers came up on me, and started following along the street.

This never happens out at Barra posto 6, never. The locals tell me this is the best 'hood in Rio, with strong law enforcement. This is another reason this is the best area to live IMHO.

So, in summary, I highly recommend avoiding copa especially, but also Ipanema, and choosing instead Barra posto 1 - 6, or in Zona Sul, Botafogo or Jardim Botanico. These are upper middle class areas where law enforcement is strong and there are fewer gringo tourists, which you as a traveler want to avoid.

On the discussion of latest intel about which places are open (luomo closed, etc), I welcome all the criticism and input. This is a great source of up to date intel, and it's great to have all the critical eyes to get up to speed. Thanks.

Rio has a great selection of young women on the sites we all know. I am curious where to find older ones. Is there a site or a location to find such? Thanks!In 4x4 today a couple of chicks appeared to be about 50 years old.

Security is getting worse, especially in Copa:

3 weeks ago I was with a ISG member, walking back from Arpoador to COpa p5 for a meal. Along the way, aggressive panhandlers came up to us and put their hands on us, which I hate. I was wearing: Rio Fire Department shorts, Rio FB bought (casa bombeiros) red rash guard shirt, red boonie cover also bought at casa bombeiros. WHen the panhandlers started putting their hands on us, I put on the leather gloves I bought at the Fire Department store. It was for deterrence. Makes the other people out there more attractive victims. My ISG member buddy who was with me said he had been assaulted coming into a favela where he knows some people. Practice very good situational awareness, gents. I see the trends getting worse.

6 weeks ago, a similar thing happened late at night, on a short walk on av nossa Copacabana from posto 5 to 4, roughly, when I was going for an uber by myself after hanging out with a ISG member. Again, I put on my gloves, which are local bought. A bunch of agro pan handlers came up on me, and started following along the street.

This never happens out at Barra posto 6, never. The locals tell me this is the best 'hood in Rio, with strong law enforcement. This is another reason this is the best area to live IMHO.

So, in summary, I highly recommend avoiding copa especially, but also Ipanema, and choosing instead Barra posto 1 - 6, or in Zona Sul, Botafogo or Jardim Botanico. These are upper middle class areas where law enforcement is strong and there are fewer gringo tourists, which you as a traveler want to avoid.

On the discussion of latest intel about which places are open (luomo closed, etc), I welcome all the criticism and input. This is a great source of up to date intel, and it's great to have all the critical eyes to get up to speed. Thanks.What about Leblon? I never seriously considered staying there before because I thought it would be boring. But, there appears to be more going on there than I thought. All I know is that I'm tired of Copa, and won't be staying there the next time. Barra is out because it's too far from most places I will want to go to. Thinking Ipa, Leblon, or Botafogo.
