Long story short: I am going to stop using this website due (Photoacompanhantes.com) to an incident that happened tonight at 3 am in Copacabana near my place and for all the fucking bait and switches I've experienced the last 2-3 weeks here. Yes, I am in Rio now. I arrived here yesterday (Good Friday) morning.

Brazilian Immigration and Customs was fast too, except they questioned every passenger in the "nothing to declare line" and a few lucky passengers had their bags scanned. Not me. So, in and out of the RJ airport in 15 minutes. My hotel had my room ready. They even upgraded me to a room with a view overlooking Copacabana Beach. Since most restaurants are closed by gov't order, I had lunch by the pool at my hotel. The grilled Octopus was great. That's most of the good stuff for day 1.
Oh yeah, Copacabana Beach was not empty. I walked from the Fairmont to the Marriott or about halfway. There were a lot of people out walking, running, and in the ocean. I plan to post a review of all the hotels I stayed at on this trip at the end of my trip report. As to the Fairmont, their protocol is simple: masks are required in the lobby, but not by the 2 pools, he outdoor patios or in the restaurant once seated. There are soap dispensers everywhere. More ominous, there is a digital hand thermometer next to the front door. It scans a instant temperature reading from the palm of your hand. You can't enter the hotel without getting scanned.

I like 13 the best personally but heard 119 has been good lately. Don't like their steep ass stairs though, fall and break your neck like at 03 Leandro Martins. Better not come out of there drunk LOL. There's a newer place at Praa Monte Castelo 26 where I've seen some nice ones. There's a Smart Fit gym on the same street and a per kilo restaurant that's decent.

Found some flash drives in an old backpack I used to take to the beach.They would be in the triangle 7 days a week. Its amazing to see who many are still working, how many moved the the states and some who just faded away. I've run into to former Helpee girls in Washington, DC, at Brazilian restaurant that was a few blocks from my house. Have also run into them in the NJ area. The NYC Brazilian Day Festival is like a freaking Help reunion!
