I was able to catch the direct flight from New York to POP, landing around 2pm. I had previously talked with John over at Sosua Palace by email for reservations. Since it was off season, John was not in town and the Palace was occupied by 2 other guys.

The Palace had about 4 girls working at a time, and each day there would be new ones. There was probably a total of 10 different girls in the 3 days that I was there. Only 2 I would even consider to hook up with. I did have both, one being the bartender and one other that was laying by the pool. Both gave excellent performance, both ending in CIM. They both would rate a 6, with one having a better body and the other one have a prettier face. Both, as in all of Sosua, did BBBJ, and one licked whatever and whereever you wanted. Both charged the industry standard at the Palace of 1500 pesos. Exchange rate was around 28.5 when I went.

Next stop was Passions, which you have to take a left once you reach the Main Street from the Palace. Since I was with a buddy, we tested all the girls that were available throughout the 3 days. The going rate was 800 or 900 pesos. There they only advertise BBBJ and that is all you're going to get. Girls rated from 5-6.5's, with the bartender being the best looking. (She was not available, but did give her number out to go to the beach.) 3 or 4 girls worked at a time behind the bar. For me, this place was pretty bad. No girl that we encountered gave a good BJ. For a place advertising this kind of behavior, it was a shock when girl after girl gave bad BJ's and tried to finish you off by a HJ.

The main area to get the best ladies was the main disco in town. There was the 3 sisters working who all are absolute 9's. They give bad performance, but they were the best that Sosua had to offer. The top girls wanted 2000-2500, while girls that were in the next tier below accepted between 1100-1500.

If you're staying at the Palace, the best place to eat is the grilled chicken stand that is on the way to Passions. It is about a minute walk and will set you back 200 pesos.

Of course, the main street had all the bars that were lined up with girls. I found these girls not even acceptable to look at. One thing about the Palace is you will find very helpful guys that are staying there. One guy stated that it was low season and during the winter it really picks up. Also John was not there, so the spirit of the BBQ and girls just wasn't there at the Palace. For me personally, I would stay at the Europa next time. I had originally booked the penthouse at the Palace, but when I saw the room, I moved to the 2-bedroom which was much cleaner. The penthouse sofas had blood on them, and the place smelled. The 2 bedrooms ran $55 a night.

If you're goin to the beach, DON'T go the to the beach that is in town. Take the taxi to Cornada(I think) which is about 30 minutes away. It is a much better beach.

In all I had a good time in Sosua. The only drawback was the Palace not having their normal vibrant scene(from what I've read). One advantage is definitely the direct flights, but for me the San Nicholas scene in Aruba is much better(see my previous post).

man, that sounds like a horrible trip man, i'm going to caberete next weekend with 3 of my guys and i have a load of chicas coming down from santiago (summer school is out next friday in santiago and my chicas who attend school there tell me it will be rockin in caberete next weekend) to kick it with me at my beach villa (www.cabaretebeachhouse.com) so i wont be taking in the p4p scene.

i was contemplating between staying in sosua or cabarete but between the bad posts and reading about the desperate 5's and 6's and my friends in santiago telling me that sosua is basically a low-life dump with hookers everywhere i went ahead and made the move for caberete next weekend...

i will probably slide through sosua just to peep the scene there in a run to pop friday to meet some chicks there, i will let you guys know what it's looking like since some of my guys who will be there will maybe partake in the sosua scene... ciao

I live in Sosua most of the year, september to may, but I was there also on a short trip 3 weeks ago, and I think it was plenty of good looking girls around.
And whats your issue about Sosua Beach ? I just love it, no better place in the world for me. It's also a great place to pick up girls.

Hi Viper10,

I'm sorry you didn't have a good time in Sosua, but the "vibe" I have always gotten from the Netherlands Antilles, Curacao and Aruba (have been to both) is alot different than the atmosphere on a trip to the DR.

I read your post on the Aruba board but you left out a detail - were the girls you were with, Colombianas or Dominicanas? (They sound like they were Colombian)

just curious...........

Some friends and I have booked a trip to Sosua the last week of September. I have been to Brazil a few times and decided to try Sosua this go round. After doing some research on this board, I've narrowed my hotels down to Europa and Voramar. Can you guys give me the pros and cons of staying there.

Which one has the better rooms?

Best location?

Closest to the beach?

Three of us will be flying into Santiago(STI), and hopefully be able to take a taxi to Sosua for 1500 pesos. From what I gather, there are three clubs there, Classico, Latino, and High Caribbean Club. It seems like the massage palor mentioned most ofen is Passions. Are there any termas or strip clubs?

Also, where are the best places to eat? Having been to Brazil, I'm very intersted in my friends experiencing termas and great food in addition to the ladies. I promise to supply a great report and pictures for you help.

One last thing, are the clubs open and full of people every night?

Hey Guys,

I am looking forward to visiting Sosua. Will be staying in Europa the days of Aug 9-18 and wouldn't mind meeting up with some of you guys, this being my first time in Sosua. From the advice I got from Silver Shadow I'll be taking the Caribetours from Santiago. But on the way back I would need to take a cab since my flight leaves 11:40 in the morning. Any of you have any idea how much in US $ a cab ride would cost me from Sosua straight to STI?

Stay at Euroa, nothing to think about. It's in the middle of the action. It's a 10 minutes to the beach. The rooms is very okay.
Voramar is far away both from the action and Sosua Beach. If you stay there you will depend on motoconchos.

The only club open of those you mentioned is Classico, it's filled up every night. The Latinos might be open, and there is a couple of new clubs to be open soon. Best place to eat is Bailys, very good food and okay prices. La Rocka is also okay. Best restaurant on the beach is Scandinavian Bar. nr152.
There is a lot of placses in town to get a massage. One strip club, Flamingo, across the street from Europa, and there is a new one to open close by, at Plaza Allegria.

Thanks Vagabond.

I take it there are no termas like in Brazil. I've read about guys only getting bbbj in the massage parlors, and the cost being about 17 usd. Would that cost include bbbj?

I'm going to stay at Europa. Would you suggest the guesthouse or hotel?

Thanks again

I stayed at Europa hotel. I paid 35dollars per night, inculding cable. My room had a kitchen, a sofa with table, safe, refrigerator. It was like a mini apartment. I don't know if all the rooms are all the same. The rest is ok but, in Cabarete are better restaurants. It has a pool. The owner is a cool, european. He will help you with anything If you have a problem just go to him. His wife is just there for the money, so don't waist your time with her. Like Vagabond said, you are next to the action. There is a bar in the corner Domino and Flamingo strip club you will find there maybe a couple stunners. The best place in town is Clasico from 11:00pm to early morning. Plus you has many bars next to clasico. (latino club is great, but reports say is closed.)

I'll guess the room / app standard in general is a little higher in the hotel, but the guesthouse is quit ok also. 17$ is about 500 pesos, in general you have to pay a bit more in most massage places, it's 900 in passions. Prices and services differs from place to place.

You can probably take Caribe Tours back to Santiago from Sosua. I believe they start running from Sosua pretty early in the morning 6 or 7. Check the schedule in the terminals.

So say they leave at 7, you'll make it to Santiago by 8:30, and catch a cab to the airport, pull up curbside by 9 at the latest.

I believe Caribe Tours runs hourly, so you can push it back if you choose. Just an option and a way to save some loot.

Just to let everyone know that the new bar is open. It will be called 'R & B's Music bar'. I still have loads to sort out but give it a month and we will be there. It's just up the road from El Toro, so when your down pop in and say hi.

Congratulations, Bernie. I'm happy to hear that you have overcome the problems we last discussed and have been successful in opening the new bar.

I'll be there in October, and look forward to celebrating with you.

A new disco called Club X opened on Thursday night and, in the interest of research, I went to check it out.

It is located opposite Classico. There was a cover charge of 100 pesos and they gave you a bracelet that allowed you to get in and out whenever you wanted.

I went in at around 1 am and it was packed, there were hookers verywhere, I found some hookers even in the male toilet. There was also the typical all inclusive crowd.

The disco itself is nice, with a modern deco and a good sound system. There are 2 areas: one big area where the dance floor is and another smaller, quieter area. The dance floor zone was a bit hot but the smaller bar area had the right temperature.

They played different types of music: Dominican music, salsa, techno, trance, etc.

Apparently they had distributed quite a few invitations among girls for the first night.

The first night was great, it closed later than Classico, let’s see how they do in the future.

Flamingo Bernie - happy to hear your going to give a try to a "northcoast" based business! I think when a member of this board gets involved in a business venture we should all do our best to support him. :)

I should be down on the northcoast in the fall - will definitely make R & B's music bar one of my regular stops!

cheers my friend,

Are vitamin V and C available without prescriptions?

Absolutely yes! In every pharmacy, no problems and no questions.

Watch taking Vita C if you are a bit of a drinker though. Better off with Vit V if you like tipping back a good number of Presidentes every night. Just my little tip for the day...........

R & B's new musi bar/cafe in Sosua.

Well I am still here in Sosua, Dominican Republic. The new bar is just out of town, it's just up the road from El Toro on the other side of the road. You can come have a chat and a cold beer and just chill to all the music you miss from back home. There will be bar snacks availible in about a month or so, and if Verison can get there fingers out we will have internet as well. So when you next in Sosua come down and say hi.

Happy hunting

Bernie

Story from DR1, today (Fri Aug 5th)

The National Hotel & Restaurant Association says that the appreciation of the peso and the increase in taxes are the main threats for the well-being of the tourism industry. They warn that if the present trend continues, there could be a contraction of the sector and its capacity to generate hard currency. They criticized the government monetary policy to artificially bolster the purchasing power of the peso affects the tourism industry activity that makes up 20% of domestic consumption, as reported in the Listin Diario.
Asonahores points to the recent Technical Ministry of the Presidency (STP) study that indicated that the peso is artificially overvalued by 26.5%. Asonahores says that this acts like a tax on tourism receipts, affecting the sector’s profitability...........

* I think that in an effort to bolster its re-payment on debt owed to the IMF on the cheap, the Fernandez governement has artificially inflated the value of the peso by some %27. The all-in's I'm sure are taking it on the chin and for the rest of us- we're forced to pay prices on food, beer and other staples that are higher than here in the states! :(

while vacationing in sosua i met up with rick when he had just arrived from the airport. we were sitting by the bar at the palace and talking when he decided to go to the bathroom, but left his cigarettes and beer behind. i grabbed for the cigarettes before the chica behind the counter tried to take them. she was rather annoyed by my behavior but i was looking out for rick. when he returned i had to explain to him that he should not leave his cigarettes around because the chicas will take them and also not to leave his drink around since a chica could slip something into it. whenever i have ever accidentally left a drink behind if i have to go to the bathroom, let us say, upon returning i would not touch the drink but order another one!

as we were talking and drinking one of the chicas ordered a beer and pointed to rick saying that he would pay for it. i told her no and mentioned what happened, to rick, since he did not speak spanish and totally naïve about what was going on. the chica was again annoyed. several days before naomi of the palace and her friend tried pulling the same stunt on me and another monger but to no avail.

we persisted in our discussion and the conversation turned to him carrying original documents on him (his passport and driver’s license). i advised him that it was better to have copies and leave his originals secured in his room since an american passport, on the black market, could be forged (change the picture and go for some decent money. this is why sometimes it is a good idea, when in santo domingo to go to the ameican embassy and have copies made so they could keep in their folders just in case something happens. technically, in most nations, the law requires that all tourists carry original documents on them but i have never heard a tourist ever being arrested for carrying only copies. also, the price one pays for losing original documents is too heavy for a monger to be walking in the streets with originals. try leaving a country without documents and see how far you get. i’ve actually entered discoteques in other countries using copies and the bouncers will do a double take but eventually let me in anyway. if not i would just explain the reason for the copies and they would understand. sometimes people are more lenient to tourists than they are to their own people. even in new york city where i live if a tourist accuses me of stealing from him and i deny it the police would believe the tourist before me. tourists rarely go to other countries to commit crimes.

we talked about security and he showed me some of his expensive equipment, such as bose headphones (easily a couple of hundred dollars), an ipod, a laptop, and some other stuff. i was surprised to find that he did have locks but they were still in the packaging!(i don’t know what advantage this serves!). he asked me about trusting the chicas but i informed him that they were half the problem. the other half was the hotel staff. while he is out in the streets meeting babes they are in his room cleaning up and can easily pocket his ipod! if an ipod is expensive in this country can you imagine, with the exchange rate, the cost of one in the dominican republic! this is like striking gold to these people.

i invited him to my room and showed him the tsa locks i use. for those who do not know these locks have a red diamond or if i am correct sometimes a torch symbol on them (the package for the lock will tell you if it is tsa approved). at the airport when the cargo baggage is in question the tsa does not have to destroy the lock but use a master key to open it. after inspecting the luggage all they have to do is close the lock. this tsa lock is only good in this country. in other nations they will just break the lock if they need to inspect something questionable in your cargo bags.

from my previous trip i showed him a black cloth bag with wire mesh sewed inside the seam of the bag. i explained to him that when i come back to my room with a chica instead of waiting for her to turn her back and me trying to hide the key to my safe i simply place it in the bag, anchor it to a high cabinet, and close it with a combination lock. how many times chicas have seen me do this and they all say the same thing. they say that i could trust them and that they don’t steal. these are also the same chicas who start rummaging around my room when i turn my back. i recall one of my buddies inviting a chica to his room. when his back was turned she stole one of his shoes. what was she going to do with only one shoe!

i also showed rick the items i had in my safe. i explained that everything in it was in a secure pouch and anchored to the safe. most safes i have encountered have a standard lock with a regular key. nothing stops a worker from making a copy and taking stuff out of your safe when you are not there. if they opened my safe up they would need something that could cut wire. also, there were locks on the bags in the safe. for those interested check out pacsafe products. they do have a website but do not sell their products directly. they have a listing of vendors who do.

the best security i’ve seen was in the mercure hotel in santo domingo. i was given a key and cylinder to the safe box. when i entered the room all i had to do was put the cylinder in the bracket to the box. a supervisor at the job explained that this is called a removable core and since there must have been at least 40 if not more rooms in this hotel the cylinders would change randomly with every new customer. the key seemed almost impossible to reproduce and would be cheaper to get a new cylinder with key rather than to reproduce the key. a magnetic keycard was used for the rooms, which would limit reproducing anything to open the rooms with, since the keycards would expire after the customers stay. after this it had to be reprogrammed. research shows that theft decreased when a keycard system was used over a key system.

rick took some of my advice and did the smart thing of putting all his valuables in one room while sleeping in the other. when i left i later heard a knock on my door. it was rick and he had shut the door and was locked out of the room with the valuables in it! in other words, he did such a good job of securing his belongings that he himself couldn't get to them! it took us quite some time to finally get that room opened.

a group of us went to eat at o’shays in cabarete. rick shared the story that when he was in thailand that he picked up a girl and it appeared that she slipped something into his drink. when they returned to the hotel he was knocked out and she stole all his documents (he did not say anything about money but i am sure that some was taken.). when i heard this i thought to myself that this guy obviously does not learn from experience. even after thailand this guy still carried around original documents and did not secure them and would still leave his drinks unattended.

the story continues in that when he woke up he complained to the owner of the hotel, an expatriate, who proceeded to hunt down the girl and get the documents back. i informed rick that he was lucky. he then added that the girl was a guy who looked like a girl (now i was thinking i hope rick didn’t think i had earlier invited him to my apartment to give him some ass! fortunately, by the time he left my apartment my heterosexuality was still intact and i was not walking bowlegged as if i was just ridden like a horse!).

we took a walk to the store because he wanted to buy some bottled water. i earlier explained to him that there was a supermarket in sosua where they would not cheat him too much because many times, in many stores, the natives would take a look at our faces and charge us double. rick responded that no matter what the price was he would still buy it. i realized that this guy was going to have some serious problems. i still looked out for him but realized after this time to use discretion when dealing with this guy. his ignorance could cost me some headaches.

on another occasion we went to eat with another friend and since he did not want to stick around for desert he paid for his portion of the bill. he left what he believed was 200 pesos ($7) and walked off. when it came time to pay the bill i looked and realized that he left 2000 pesos ($70)! i can understand this mistake since i have made some embarrassing blunders with dominican money so this is why one needs to travel with a buddy. when i was in costa rica with my wingman reality he pulled my coat to the fact that i was miscalculating costa rican colones. my conversion was slightly off so i corrected it. it wasn’t really much but i was embarrassed by this but it was for my own good. the guy was trying to save me money. i later bumped into rick and gave him back his 2000 pesos. he didn’t even seem too appreciative about the favor i did for him.

on another occasion when he was invited to eat with two other guys i mentioned that i expected a taxi to pick me up at the airport and take me to the palace. in short, the palace left me stranded, even though i called up and sent several emails reminding them of the taxi pick up. three other mongers had the same exact experience. rick was one of them and i am sure that he overpayed. the only reason i wanted to be picked up was so i would not have to deal with the sharks at the airport who would double and triple charge me. when the taxi did not show a taxi driver showed up and said that he believed that someone was looking for me but that he would not show up. i saw where this was coming from so i asked the guy where this driver was going to take me to. he couldn’t answer then eventually spitted out europa. since i was going to the palace either this guy was mistaken or he was lying. later when my ride did not show up i talked to the same driver and realized that he seemed to be the leader of the taxi drivers. he quoted me 800 pesos (about $28) (something told me he would have quoted more if it wasn’t for the fact that i was a native speaker) and started blabbering that the peso was weak. considering the peso to the dollar was 50 to 1 last summer and is now 28.5 to 1 something told me this guy was lying. i haggled with him and he lowered to 600 pesos. he held on to this for a while. i waited. i made the mistake of trying to haggle with him when a plane had just landed and a stream of customers were coming out so i waited again. i later talked to him and he finally lowered it to 550 pesos ($19). i refused to pay more than 500 ($17.50). the guy refused to budge so after some wait i ignored him and walked over to a group of taxi guys sitting about doing nothing. i quoted 500 and one jumped up and said he would take me. i practically had my bags in the taxi before the leader of the bunch knew what was happening. he seemed somewhat embarrassed.

on my return trip, waiting at the airport, i found some tourists who were overcharged for the trip! they were talking about it and were a bit ashamed that they were had.

returning to the protagonist of this saga, rick decided to rent a motor scooter and ride around. when he finally told me this i informed him that he needed to talk to someone who knows how to do this since many times these companies will overcharge on the credit card, charge for damages to the vehicle even though the damage could have existed before the individual rented the vehicle, or could have easily occurred after the vehicle was brought in. he said that he was trying to look for a cheap price to rent one. i mentioned to him the fact that all these companies knew each other so there would be some price fixing and that for an american they would overcharge (the same scheme with the taxis at the airport!). i recommended for him to talk to john from the palace or to at least jesus, the palace driver. i think i referred him to the wrong jesus since this guy rick really needed some divine intervention!

i cannot believe this but this guy did listen to me about not taking original documents with him. he forgot, though, the copy part. he was stopped by the politur and was ticketed for not having a helmet. he had to leave the scooter, catch a cab from cabarete to sosua, get his driver’s license and other documentation and return for the scooter and deal with the issue of the politur and the ticket. he later called john from the palace and was informed by him that tourists do not get tickets. believe me when i tell you if there is anyone who can and did do the impossible and get himself ticketed it was rick!

he then asked me for advice about getting a money advance on his credit card. let me see now. this guy accidentally overpaid for his food, did not care about being cautious about overpaying for goods purchased in a store, used a credit card and was probably overcharged for the scooter anyway since this is his first time in dr, had to pay for a traffic ticket, most likely overpaid for a taxi from the airport, and he miscalculated dominican money. why am i not surprised that he is now short of money! i advised him that the interest rate would surely jump to 29% and that on some credit cards there is a fee for foreign currency ranging anywhere from 1%-5%. i suggested to him, and was willing to take him to diego, the owner of hotel europa, who would know all about this but rick did not listen.

another time rick mentioned to me he had sex with a chica. i knew the one he was talking about and mentioned to him that she looked so much like a man that i would not even touch her. i have a motto in life. i only screw chics who are chics, not chics who have dicks or chics who look like they have dicks! excuse me for being picky, gentlemen, when this guy rick told me previously that he bought a thai lady, with a penis, to his hotel and now is screwing women in dr whose gender is questionable i am shocked that i invited this guy up to my room just to show him some locks and bags. something tells me this guy might have been ac/dc and a couple of other voltages. in this business i need to watch my back more (or in this cause my ass. i don’t want to be walking bowlegged from an encounter with a booty bandit!). i don’t want to go around singing that boy george song “do you really want to hurt me,
do you really want to make me cry!”

i picked up a chica at classicos and had sex with her. she seriously emphasized using a condom and i was not going to argue. she had two children and she was in her late twenties (for those who don’t know this is old in the domincan republic.). rick later met the chica and rode her bareback. after a time the chica only waited for him.

now this chica is a pro so she should know better. she was trying to get rick to get her pregnant so he would stay with her.

rick was over 40 years old so he should have know better. in my younger days i’ve employed a holistic approach to human sexuality and have entered au naturel but in my old age life’s experiences have set in (like the fear of getting aids and dropping dead!).

rick would later inform me that he believed he got the chica pregnant (if this is all he is worried about i guess he’s never heard of those notorious mongers who go by the name of mr. aids, mr. herpes, mr. crabs, mr. syphilis or mr. gonnorhea! gentlemen i’ve had the fortunate pleasure of never meeting these nefarious characters; although once or twice i have scratched my crotch after an encounter but i’ll simply attribute this to jock itch). now, all you gentlemen out there please read below:

cover your stump before you hump.
before you attack her, wrap your whacker.
don't be silly, protect your willy.
when in doubt, shroud your spout.

excuse the commercial break now back to the rick in dr show (this reality show will be released on dvd september 9th. please order an advance copy on amazon.com. proceeds from the sale of this dvd will go to educating illiterate mongers in mastering the art of acquiring high octane putang!).

rick was surrounded by chicas, with beers, while sitting at a table near the pool at the palace. he was telling me about knocking up the classico chica. i looked around and easily figured out who was paying for all the beers. rule of thumb is never to sit around tables with too many chicas sitting around you especially when your near a bar or a place to eat. i kept a distance from the table because the chicas would order more beers and cut out leaving me with the tab. if it wasn’t for the fact that this guy hung around some of the guys i was hanging around with and also that we were both in the same small hotel i would have tried avoiding this guy more.

gentlemen, whenever a tourist has some advice to give i would always listen. when i traveled in costa rica with reality i picked up a chica from the street. as soon as she entered my room i kicked her out in less than two minutes. i mentioned this to reality and he strongly warned me never to do this again. he explained that many had problems and if they were in the streets it is because they have been kicked out of some of the major places because they either caused some problems, had some addiction, or some other complications. i listened and never made this mistake again. in dr you can pick up action anywhere but in costa rica it is a different story.

returning to rick, last i saw him he was rushing to the airport trying to push up the date of his flight. something told me he was not enjoying his stay in the dominican republic. i wonder why? could it be that he was doing everything wrong?

i remember experiences i’ve had with others. one time i was in d’latinos and there were two young street thugs hanging around and behind monger k. i informed k to move but he refused. later i explained to him what was going on but he still did not get it. after a while i just left this guy alone because i could have gotten hurt from his ignorance. on another occasion i went with some mongers to galactic in puerto plata. i picked up a chica and was about to leave but since none of the mongers spoke spanish i decided to stick around to keep an eye on them. one guy from new york blended in just fine. it helped out that he had the shoulders of a line backer. the other gentleman was a canadian and he made the mistake of having the chicas surround him while he was checking them out. i guess in his country there are no such things as pickpockets. when women try to do this to me i just back up to a wall, a bar, a chair so nothing is behind me. the canadian made the added mistake of having a drink in his hands so must of the time his hands were near his chest while checking out the bodies of the chicas. i kept an eye on him. when negotiations started i had to eventually cut it short since the chicas were trying to get over on the guy by overcharging and having him pay in advance. i looked out for him and it paid off.

i recall i went with a group of guys to classico discoteque. a chica approached one of the guys real quickly. if they approached me in such a manner i would have backed off real fast. i whispered to one of the guys to be careful. i guess he was young so he only half listened. the chica i was with explained that the chica who approached him was a pickpocket. i advised her to move away. he rather appreciated it but after a while the chica i was with noticed how naïve he was. this was his fifth trip to sosua but he did not seem to have much street sense. after a while the chica i was with mentioned how naïve these guys were. she was right. this guy was pretty cool but i had to distance myself from him since anyone who is careless about his own safety can compromise my safety. i’ve seen this happen too many times.

i recall about a year ago a conversation i had with palace john. he said that as long as you followed the rules you were okay but some guys just never learned. he was right. i am not an authority on the subject and have made many mistakes in my travels but i am receptive to advice. sometimes i take it personal (a bad habit that comes with age) but listen because if i do not do so the mistake will occur again. i am just a guy, like you guys, who wants to become a super duper mega monger. i want to go to monger heaven not be stuck in a bootyless hell. hey, i don’t want to be cheated, have my documents stolen, have problems with the police, get sick, don’t want to get myself hurt, or anything happen to me. all you gentlemen out there, with caution our travels can be pleasant, secure, cheaper, with less headaches. try to avoid the mistakes these other gentlemen have made.

Ofcourse tourists / gringos get trafick tickets. If it's Amet, you have to pay the ticket. The national police are usually just looking for a bribe.
About security and girls in Sosua, it's just to take normal precautions, and you will be just fine, unless your extremly unlucky.

RE: Europa Hotel

I live in La Union (near the airport). I often stay at the Europa when I need A/C. The rate are as follows:

Hotel room $32 USD per night.
One bedroom apartment $30 per night.
Studio apartment $28 per night.

Never had a problem there.

Make sure you lock up valuables in safe. You can carry a copy of your passport of not. I never carry any ID when I am down there. BUt I live there and am slightly known around.

Sosua does have good resturants like Cabarete but Cabarete is more expensive. If you eat or hang out in Cabarete I recomend Las Brisas. It is about 5 or 6 place down from Jose O'Shays. Cheap prices. 3 egg breakfast for 99 pesos, juice and coffee included.

On the beach in Sosua I eat at New York Shark Bar. He imports his meat for the US. Or I eat at Siempre Sol. Both good places to hang out.

Any questions feel free to PM me through this site.

Take care,

Nomad

Thanks for the update Falcao. Any tips on rooms to request/avoid at Europa?

La Union looks something like an old housing project from the main highway. What's it like there? It's not an extranjero town though I recall reading of several others who live there. Is it really easier to go to a hotel than get a/c to work there? (I suppose you'd need an inverter or generator half the time). Any insights on genuine non-pro chicas from daily life?

TIA

Marc Anthony,

RE: Europa, just make sure your safe locks works. They will fix if if is does not. But let them know as soon as you move in. Make sure all doors and windows locks properly. NOt just half-@ss.

Non-pro's: well you you have get out and about. Out of Puerto Plata, Sosua, Cabarete. Out in the Campo. Look at what a girl has and is wearing. If she is wearing expensive clothes, has a very nice cell phone, lots of jewelery and no job. Well just how does she get them?? Duh! If you use your eyes you can pretty much tell.

La Union has electricity almost 24/7 due to the fact it is close to the airport and on the same power lines. Yes it was origianally a housing project built by the government. Kinda bleak living there. Depending on your apartment is can be pretty much no frills whatsoever. I am not there all the time. For A/C I would need to put in windows with glass. Right now just have shutters.

Saving to buy a house so will not put anything into a rental.

Take care,

Falcao aka Nomad

Falco,

Thanks for the info.

What are the differences between the hotel rooms and the villas at Europa? Do they provide daily maid service at the villa?

Does DR have termas like Brazil? From what I gather there are massage palors, but not actual terma-like facilities.

Are the escorts services in DR? I haven't seen anything posted on this.

Thanks

Hi Ford,
In the small town of San Nicholas in Aruba, they were nearly all Columbian. All have 3 month visas so they change out girls every 90 days.

Viper

Hi Vagabond,
When we stopped by the beach in town, it was full of German or European tourists. It was also very small. The beach outside of town, where Sharky's bar is (begins with a C) is a huge beach. Much more people, nicer, and a lot more action surrounding it. Just my opinion that's all. Don't get me wrong, Sosua had nice looking girls, but when we went John was not there so the Palace was pretty dead. One other person staying there who has been to Sosua 5 times, also said it was the slowest time of the year.

re Viper
I live in Sosua most of the year, september to may, but I was there also on a short trip 3 weeks ago, and I think it was plenty of good looking girls around.
And whats your issue about Sosua Beach ? I just love it, no better place in the world for me. It's also a great place to pick up girls.

I'm still a month away from my visit, but inhaling the flavors all the way from New York.

Silver Shadow,

I actually did my trip last month but am writing now the report. I am quite busy right now and haven't had the time to write the last part but will try to do it tomorrow.

I had a great time in Sosua, by the way.

Hope you enjoy your trip too!

PART 3: SOSUA

The arrival

The bus journey between SD and Sosua was relatively comfortable and painless.

In Santiago a girl got on the bus and sat next to me. I chatted her up, she was a non-pro who worked as shop assistant in Puerto Plata, a sweet and talkative girl. I thought about asking her out and arranging a date for dinner that night, but on second thoughts I realised that the trip from Sosua to Puerto Plata and back plus the costs of dinner and drinks would be in fact more expensive than what I’d have to pay for fucking any girl in Sosua, so it didn’t really make financial sense to try to fuck this non-pro in Puerto Plata.

Night was falling when I finally arrived in Sosua, and from the motoconcho on my way to the hotel I spotted some walking pussies going about their business.

I began to breathe the religious atmosphere of the town, which remained roughly unchanged since I was here last year, except for a couple of new bars.

I had dinner and then combed the whole Pedro Clisante strip in search of my prey: I was on predatory mode.

I came across some doable specimens but nothing really special, so I ended up in Classico at around midnight. The disco was busy, this was clearly the epicentre of the action, the place to be. I surveyed the territory for almost one hour before deciding on my victim: she was a girl that had just passed by, I chased her slowly among Classico’s crowd, but before attacking her I spotted another girl that looked even better than the one I was chasing so I stopped and chatted her up.

She seemed to have good attitude, was cheerful and fun to talk to, without showing any of the usual hardcore traits, she was young and lively and had a bum to die for, so I started negotiations. Her first quote was 2,000 pesos for TLN, which came down easily to 1,500 – the deal was closed.

Once in my room, her naked bum was even better than what I had imagined, it was a fleshy, almost magical bum: a perfect one. I contemplated that curvaceous bum as if I was contemplating a work of art, there was harmony in it. The downside was that her tits were crap: saggy and uninspiring.

The BBBJ was fine and her pussy was quite comfortable, but when I finished and got out of her completely I saw some blood on the tip of the condom.

I invited Superbum to a drink in my room and reminded her that she shouldn’t work while she had the period. I decided to leave it in a ST as I didn’t want to fuck a bleeding pussy in the morning, I gave her 1,000 pesos and we left for Classico again. Maybe the pay was generous but she had behaved quite well between the sheets and was a sweet girl.

It was quite late when I got into Classico again and the quantity and quality of stock had fallen sharply, so I just drank the night away before going back to the hotel for some sleep.

The last day

I got up in the afternoon, had a Presidente and went to the beach to have a cheap lunch and a swim.

About 2 hours later I walked all the way along the beach in search of some pussy. I saw a good one in one of the stalls, spoke to her briefly but apparently she was already taken by one of the guys in the bar - an old German - so I moved on. There wasn’t much to choose from, maybe because of the time (around 4 pm), but when I was about to come back to the entrance to the beach I stumbled across Superbum and she stopped to say hello.

She was wearing tight jeans, so I couldn’t help looking at that powerful bum again, which contrasted with her slim waist. She told me the period was gone, and I thought it might be BS, or maybe not, there was only one way to find it out… I told her I’d give her 500 pesos for 1 hour and she said: ‘no problem, you are a good friend so whatever you give me is fine for me’. She was so sweet!

It is true, on the other hand, that there was a true and long friendship between us: we had met the previous night.

BBBJ again, followed by another great fuck while holding that hard bum and, at the end, another bloodstained condom. She said she thought the period was gone - yes, sure…

We had a drink in the terrace, I gave her 500 pesos and she left.

I laid on the bed and had a siesta.

In the evening, at about 9 pm, I started to get ready for my last night in the DR. There was a programme on TV about Cancun’s nightlife, showing discos, girls and beaches. Usually when I see this sort of programmes on TV from home I wish I were there, I see it as a superior form of reality, but I was now living in that superior reality: that programme didn’t really cause any wish this time. I turned off the TV and went out.

I had one Presidente at Domino, checked out the girls there but none of them was particularly appealing, so I went for another beer at that bar that you find soon on your left when you start walking from Domino in the direction of Classico - I don’t know what its name is, it wasn’t there last year.

One of the bartenders was good-looking, she said she was new both in Sosua and in the game. I asked her for her rates and she asked me how much I offered. I said I’d give her between 500-1,000 for ST depending on how good she was, she said that didn’t look enough, I asked her what looked enough for her and she replied she wasn’t sure because she was new but some friends with more experience had told her that the going rates were higher than what I was offering. I told her her friends were wrong.

Another monger arrived at the bar and asked her for a beer, she served the beer and then kept standing up in a statuesque position between the two of us to show off her cute body, as if she was waiting for the highest bidder. I looked at her and, despite her good looks, I knew that she was just one more fish in the sea. I paid my beer and left towards the Merengue bar – I would have one more drink there before going for dinner.

The bar was packed, the whole area was quite busy because of the opening of the new disco: Club X. There were quite a few cuties around, more than usual, so when I finished my drink I went up the stairs to take a quick look in Classico.

I liked one of the girls on the dance floor so went up to her to check her out. She was from La Romana, a student according to her, and had a pretty face and a great body. I like part-timers, they usually perform well, their attitude remind me of non-pros to some extent. I invited her to my room for a ST and offered her 500-1,000 depending on performance, she accepted straightaway.

The part-timer was quite good, fully devoted to please, and had great tits. We stayed for some time in my room and then had a couple of drinks before leaving again. I gave her 1,000 and went to check out Club X, which was great. She came with me so we danced together for some time.

In Club X I came across the bartender that had refused my first offer that evening, she was accompanied by a female friend, still empty handed, she saw me caressing the part-timer’s ass and smiled at me, I smiled back. The bartender that night saw the market forces at work, this girl should review her pricing policy if she wants to survive in Sosua.

After a while in Club X I moved to Classico again and took the part-timer with me, we danced a bit more and I was getting horny again, but I didn’t see any girl that I liked more than the part-timer so I invited her once again to my room for a second fuck, I said I’d give her 500 pesos this time and she said it was OK.

The part-timer this time behaved even better on the bed, she was somehow wilder and more uninhibited - no doubt that was the natural consequence of the couple of cubalibres she had drunk: alcohol is the best performance enhancer for girls, and pros are no exception.

After reaching the summits of pleasure we went down to the swimming-pool, it was about 3 am but the night was still young. We had the whole swimming-pool for us, she was naked and I started to taste her body in the water and to finger-fuck her while French kissing her. Her mouth tasted of cubalibre and her vagina was smooth. We stayed almost one hour in the pool, that girl was really into it.

From the pool I could see the stars shining in a clear sky, as well as the shades of some palms. It was the perfect setting.

While I was sucking her tits in the swimming-pool I realised I had forgotten to have dinner that evening, I had been so absorbed by the mongering scene that I clean forgot about dinner. I hadn’t eaten anything since I had the cheap lunch on the beach, but I didn’t feel hungry - I suppose Presidente and Brugal Añejo suffice to keep you going.

I thought this was where all would end, the scenery of my last adventure in this DR trip.

The part-timer finally left with her well-earned 500 pesos and I got into the bed for a few hours’ sleep before heading for the airport.

I’d like to have repeated with this girl if I had stayed longer in the DR, in the same way as I’d like to have repeated with Superbum, Santa Teresa and others, but maybe that’s one of the thrills of mongering: the fact that you are always changing girls, leaving some behind and focusing on the next one, and then the next one… with no end.

The path of mongering is unlimited and seems to be in a permanent spring, always surrounded by beautiful flowers ready for you with their best scents.

THE END

Any of you have any idea how much in US $ a cab ride would cost me from Sosua straight to STI?Anywhere from 40 - 65$

WSJ3

Anywhere from 40 - 65$

Actually they are charging about $75...a buddy of mine did this as recent as May 31, 2005...

Far better to take the Carbi Tours bus for a few US dollars...

Hey guys,

I got back a couple weeks ago. Sorry for the late post but this drunk broke his hand durring the trip. Hurt like hell so decieded to visit the doctors for the usual after vacation STD test and check the hand too. So the Doc tells me its broken . Had the rebreak it and repair it surgery a couple days ago. Even now just typing with my left hand so excuse any gramatical/spelling errors you see.

I landed at STI airport with no problem at about 10:20 by the time me and a buddy got our bags it was after 11. Took a cab to Santiago to get the bus. Unfortuantly by the time we got there the 12:30 bus was full so had to wait for 1:30. That bus was late, so we didn't arrive in Sosua untill way past 3Pm almost 4. So thats a waste of 5 hours. The bus wasn't the roomiest I had to travel and wasn't the cleanest also.

On the way back I elected to take the cab. I had no sleep on my last night/morning so didnt want the headache of public transportation. Got a cab he wanted $80 and told me other guys charge $90-$95. I really dont have too many contacts there so I said $70 (didnt wanna go lower than that and miss my ride home) take it or leave it. He took it since it was the two of us it was $35 each. I didn't tip in the end cause I figgured $70 was more than a good payment for the ride.

It was a nice ride with nobody bothering you and no need to switch from cab to bus and back to a cab. The way I see it if you are travelling with a group of guys a cab isn't that bad. Because by the time you pay for the cab to bus, the bus to Sosua, and a cab to hotel. You will only save about $10-$20 Vs the cab. But if you travel with a group it will cost you about the same.

Myself

P.S. As I said do excuse any errors not too good at typing just with one hand and my left hand at that.

I'm sorry to hear about your hand.

Your post, though, only dealt with your getting to and from Sosua.

Anything interesting while you were there? Did you enjoy your stay? Any ladies you want to share?

I'm sure you did more than getting drunk and breaking your hand, although that must be the most memorable part. Tell us about it!

Hello everyone,

After few months from my trip to DR I want to contribute with my little trip. I arrived I Puerto Plata at the end on May, as soon as arrived there I asked taxis for prices to sosua, they wanted $25 to get there, I knew that was too much so I asked a motocoach (as I had only a big rucksack) to take me for $5 and he agreed. Arrived at Europa in sosua I told them that I wanted to spend about $ 20 at night so the swiss guy sent me to the nearby guesthouse. The room was ok with air conditioning ($3 extra per day) and safe at no extra cost, but it was dirty and I don't think the bed sheet had been washed or changed lately. In the evening I went out looking for some action in the bars there, but I noticed that there girls were not as business orientated as in other places such as thailand. Anyway that evening I strolled from bar to bar looking for a decent girl or a girl that I liked, at the end I found this little dark skinned girl in a bar and asked to come with me in my room, I did ask her how much she wanted but she said if I wanted her the money shouldn't be a problem (big mistake! ). When we got in the room we got undressed and I asked her to take shower but she didnt want to and she even sucked my dick without me washing it, after that we carried on, she had a beatiful ass nice tits, at a certain point she switches the light off which I don't like so I switched it back on and she switches it off again, I was trying to move her to position that I liked but she didn't want she was deciding what position and what to do (who is paying I said to myself? ) so I got angry and I told her that she was not providing a good service and she was pissing me off. At that point she said that was ok she would leave if I had given her money. Alltogheter she was 1/2 in the room so I said to myself that I shouldn't give her more than $10, she started screaming, shouting to give her $50 but I wouldn't because of her service and the stress caused by her, I kept saying her take $10 and live the room but she would't, at a certain point she took a bottle of beer which was on the chair and she wanted to hit me, I am short and slim but I wouldn't let her hit me so I took the bottle from her hands, I never hit a woman but that night I was nearly going to, I told her that I would give her $20 if she left but she was not happy, she shouted that she would cut the notes given if I didn't give her at least $40, I didnt want to give to her so I said that I would talk to the swiss guy at the reception so he would take her out, the swiss guy advised me to give an extra $10 and next time to make sure to agree the price. She was still not happy but she took the money and left. Lesson learnt? Well no because sometingh similar happened the day after but that is another story to be said another day, anyway I found one girl which I stayed for 3 nights with no problem after that. I think caribbean girls are quite wild and especially those from Haiti (lots of them in DR) in fact (as I found out later) she was from haiti, they are wilder than thai woman, never had any problem with them. I'll write about the second day another day, it was worst than the first.

Hi,

This is just a suggestion, so please don't take it the wrong way.

I appreciate the details in your report, but I know from experience that a lot of people find it very difficult to read a report that is written as one long block of text. It's kind of like trying to eat an entire steak in one bite.

I know how this happens: You're banging away at the keyboard, putting your thoughts into the report as fast as you can write them. However, if you could hit the return key every few sentences while you're writing, and thus break your report into smaller paragraphs, your report would be much easier to read, which would certainly be appreciated by your fellow Forum Members.

Thanks,

Jackson

i spent a great week in sosua.

i arrived a puerto plata airport, which is a good airport to use if you're going to the north coast of the island, the standard taxi fare too sosua is $20us.

i spent the week at the palace hotel as recommemed from this board. my room was $45us a night. the hotel is well run and i had no problems there. the only thing i would say is they have attractive chicas there, waiting to part you from your money. you might perfer a less 'chica' in your face establishment. there is aircon, safes and cable tv in the rooms.

the prices you will pay for chicas varies between $3000dr tln and $1000dr for an hour, they have a standard pricing in the palace, but else where the girls will usually quote a high price to start with. and will come down, but expect them to start the bargining process at around $3000dr. i would advise you to always agree on a price before you get the girl to your room, as it is not worth the grief if you do not.

you will find your fellow mongers very helpful with advice, on the prices you should be paying, and general information about the scene. i had the good fortune to meet one of my heros *******. ******* is never far from his camara, he must have an amazing photo collection. he arranged a fantastic party for the boys in puerto plata, while i was there!!! cheers jimmy.

speaking a little spanish is helpfull, alot of the girls do not speak any english, but they all speak $$$. the action starts at about 4pm and goes on till about 4am. during the day there is not much to do, i did not find any action on the beach, maybe i just missed it and it was there. you will find the most chicas on the beach at weekends, it is well worth going there to enjoy the view then.

there were two main nightclubs open when i was there. i found 'classico' the better of the two, and x which could be quiet. any dr chica in a club is up for hire. so just go up to her or make eye contact. the biggest problem i found if you get a girl tln, was getting rid of her in the morning as they like the aircon and the cable in your hotel room. all the chicas have id cards with there age on them, i was told if a girl does not have an id card she is **** and you can get into big trouble.

dr a great place to have a party.

I'll write about the second day another day, it was worst than the first.Good report,

Everyone has to pay to learn!

You should have fired her since you ask her to shower and she didn't want.

In your room you have to control, you are the boss .

As soon as you are undressed you are not in the best position to negociate.

As she treathened you should have kicked her ass out without a single peso.

Looking forward for what happened next.... ;-)

Hello fellow Mongers,

Just came back from my second trip to Sosua. I will try to share my experience with you.

Before I begin:

RULE # 1: ALWAYS, ALWAYS NAGOTIATE ON ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING AT LEAST 50%; I DID AND IT ALWAYS WORKED (I had 3 weeks of Spanish classes but it was enough to get my point across)

RULE #2: DO NOT, DO NOT PAY MORE THEN 10 PESOS FOR MOTOCONCHO BY DAY, AND NO MORE THEN 20 PESOS BY NIGHT IF THE RIDE IS WITHIN SOSSUA. DO NOT ASK HOW MUCH, NEVER; JUST GIVE THE GUY EXACT CHANGE AND WALK AWAY.

RULE #3: NEVER LET ANY CHICK CRAB YOU ON THE STREETS; YOU WILL LOOSE ANYTHING THAT YOU HAD IN YOUR POKETS AT NO TIME (I thought that I was good at catching them and I new it was coming, and yes, I anticipated. She got my 1000 pesos and a pack of gum. I caught her by pure luck; that how good there are).

RULE #4: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, GO TO YOUR ROOM WITHOUT MAKING SURE THAT YOU HAVE AGREED ON THE PRICE WITH THE CHICK. MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT IT IS VERY, VERY CLEAR TO HER HOW MUCH YOU ARE GOING TO PAY AND FOR HOW MANY HOURS/SHOTS. IF YOU DO NOT, YOU MORE THAN LIKELY TO RUN INTO PROBLEMS AT THE END OF YOU SESION ( I did especially with Haitian chicks. It could get ugly but some how they understood it was a bad idea to “fuck” with me).

Day 1:

Arrived at Puerta Plata airport at midnight. No trouble going through the customs. As soon as I passed the customs the Dominican guy who appeared out of nowhere grabbed my luggage. Send them away (what I did), otherwise he will take it to the cab and will not ask but demand a tip. Cabbies surrounded me showing some bogus chart that it cost $25 to Sosua. I countered with $15, the response was NO WAY. I said that if that is the case I’m calling my hotel shuttle that I never had, so they said OK $15 it is. Arrived to Europa and checked in at no time $32 per night for 5 nights ( air, cable tv, kitchenette, refrigerator). If you see Diego there, owner/manager, talk to him; he is a wealth of information. He gave me his card just in case I have problems with the police (supposedly just showing the card should make things much easier)

To be continued….

Pistola,

While I was 5 or 6 times in DR, I'm able to say, that the Dominiacanas are much more sharp as the Haitinas, while these are much, much more friendly and do not ask for much money. Tho it is really a bit difficult, to decide what is better. Had a Haitina for holidays two years, very, very friendly. Never had any problems with Haitianas, but with Dominicanas, oh good! They do almost anything to get more money, including to steal. Anyhow, if we can speak a litte spanish, and be friendly, we often ony have to wait amd look, then we can really find friends. When I'm going dow next January to DR, will write a good report with pics.

hi guys,pistola,

i read your report.....very nice. indeed ..you learned a lesson. (haven't we all?)
first things first....make sure what action/services she will preform (so now you know why you need to speak some spanish)on you and for how much $$$$...and also the time spend.
i too had a similar experience back then with some hellcats from sosua. most of these girls are hardcore pros. don't let them fool you. don't let them fool you with stories about their kids,[CodeWord131] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord131) or whatever bs story they come up with. they want your $$$$$$$$ nothing else.
do not fall asleep while she is in your room!!!!!!!!!! that's why i prefer "quickies"of 1-2 hours...nada mas.

true i also found many girls very aggressive in sossua when i was there back in 2002,that is why i reluctantly will return there. i now will turn more to pop and santo domingo.
i also fucked a haitian girl (pitchblack she was..with an ass that looked like a hot bubblegum...!) for not too much money.(i think it was us$ 15,- for 2 hours of sex;which was a bargain considered the great service she provided on me)
she walked right up to me in clair daylight...when i was walking down the street in sosua. she gave me a full ubj...and she also said i could fuck her uncovered (yeah right!). so she knew a fuckmotel that could be rented by the hour. this was necessary because my dumb ass stayed in an all-inclusive "prison"hotel were no guests were allowed!!! (fuck that shit) however as i am not a totall ass i did put on a rubber;-) haiti is a country with very high aids/hiv rates on the western hemisfere...!! she had no cell on her...so i figured she wasn't very long in the trade. anyway i never ever again saw her:-( overall she was clean and mean. it was one of the better services i got from a ho.
true....you'll find tons of haitians girls in the dr. mostly you will recognize them as they are realy black and have an accent when they speak spanish. (the mothertongue of the haitians is french...you know)
how temping her great body/ass may be....always use a rubber when you fuck.

now...if any girl would do that shit on me what you'd told us in your posting pistola i would kick her black/brown/white or whatever colour her butt has out very quickly. remember these girls are not ladies....they are hookers!!! treat them with respect...but if they start to [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) you off big time for no reason....don't hesitate to act with hardness, otherwise you will be the laughing stock of all the *****s in the area! mind you such stories travel fast among these woman!!!
don't hesitate to slap her ass arround if she attacks you or threatens you in any other fysicaly way.. remember she won't go to the police...as prostitution is illegal in the dr.

take care.

Hello every one,

Just continuing the story of my trip. I want to clarify that was my first trip to DR and I went there for only 8 days so my main purpose was mongering. I have been in Cuba and Thailand as well so this was not the first mongering trip. I also speak quite well Spanish, i worked with lots of them and i could understant and speak with noi problem.

I wake up very early in the morning because of jet-lag and was still thinking of night before, but i said to myself that i had been unlucky and the next girl should be fine, "put down as experience" they say. During the day i went to the beach, very nice in Sosua, and i familiriased with the place, lots of shop bars are owned by european and americans. I met some people who where living there and i started chatting with them and asking them some advice where to find girls and to deal with them. Anyhow the night arrived I didn't sleep much during the day, i just chatted with the people who i met there and went to the beach. I went out with the people who i meet previously, we were in a bar which has a disco upstairs, and i was drinking a lot and looking at the girls on the disco. I couldn't find a nice girl and i was starting to feel tired, at certain point i said to myself was better to take one before i'd run out of energy. This girls come up saying that she would provide a very good service, she had a bottle of beer with her and she started showing me how she sucked, in addittion one of the guy who i met there, they are european as me, knew her as he goes there often and knows some of them. I was feeling very tired and i agree with there with the price and what service she would provide, $50 all night sucking and swallowing. We get to the room and we started to undress, this as well wasn't very happy on having a shower, anyway she started saying to put the money that we agreed on the table because she had some problem with people previously not paying her, I said no way, but she wouldn't change her idea, i was tired and i kept saying her no way but she wouldn't change her mind, was quite late in the night and to much to go back to bar and find another girl, so i took the money our from the safe and put the money on the table, she was tiny no way that she could take the money with force or anythingh like that. Anyway i lyed in the bed and she started giving me a bj, was ok good skills she knew what she was doing. The service included swallowing but she didn't do that when she was suppose to do that and i got angry at her saying that i was not happy with that and she was pissing me off. the beach started saying that she sucked well and everythingh was fine, i kept saying her that she was making me angry and nervous to stop that. anyhow she grabs the $50 notes on the table and she keeps on her hand, i could with the force taken out from her but that would mean to wake up all the hotel as she was already shouting, anyway that money covered for more services and i said to her that i wanted to fuck her at that point she said she wanted more money, i got really angry and tried to take the money from her, again there was a bottle of beer near by, she grabbed it and she was triyng to hit me again, i couldn't believe that was happening again i tought to myself where the fuck did i end up? i grab the bottle from her and put on the table away from her, i bet she knew the other one as well and they have chatted about it, this girl was dominican girl not from haiti but i think they all know each other. i wanted to hit her but she said she was pregnant and she would sit in the bed and touch her belly and saying she was suffering stomaache and if i touched her she would call the police, i opened the door and i said her to go and fuck herself, she was still naked and said to let her get dressed and she would leave, she was taking long time and i was very angry at that point i was calling her names, but she wouldn't care saying she was pregnant and that shit, as soon finished dressing up i couldn't bear her view, i grab her from the air she started screaming i open the door and push her out of my room on to the wall nearby, she said something but i was happy she was out , i went to sleep thinking to myself how did it happen, why twice, why so unlucky and hoping that the next one would be better, but feeling very strange on how to deal with these girls. The following days were better but what a bad start!!!! One think i have to say i don't know how here the tourist are treated it was my first time in the country and i didn't know how the police treats tourist, i have seen that in thailand and cuba they are protected but i am not sure in DR seems that in this place is not like that so i wansn't sure how to behave.

Next time Il'let you know about the beautiful girl from the capital.

Thank you for your understanding and suggestion.

Pistola, you seem to be really unlucky mate.

Putting the money on the table first was the big mistake in hindsight. I would never do it because you were never too sure what you were going to get in DR.

The main problem i found with the girls was that even if you had agreed two or three hours of passion, the girls would give good service for the first hour or hour and a half, and then say they had to get back to their baby. At that point I had to point out that there was no way they were going to get the agreed price. And after a five to ten minute debate they would go, usually on good terms. Not perfect from my point of view. But its so easy to get back and find another girl, and shag her instead, so no big loss. This is one of the main advantages of Sosua, because its so small, getting around takes very little time, and finding a suitable chica to very easy.

How would you compare thai girls to DR chicas. I think thai girls are more eager to please in bed, but have no tits. while DR chica can have big arses but can be more aggresive in bed. Which do you perfer?

Pistola,

I don't think she had talk with your previous girl but same behaviour gives same result.

Once you said NO you have to keep it on.

If you had be more firm she probably would have prefer the money not on the table than going back without a dime. It was a manner to test you.

They are always testing to see where are your limits.

That why you have to fix them very soon.

Anyway good report ;-)

PISTOLA...

Thanks,

Jackson

Unlike President Bush, President Fernandez is close friends with "King Hugo" (Venezuelan Pres Chavez) and so the fact that the DR is still paying over $60 a barrel and is facing fuel shortages and gas lines is really unthinkable.

When I was in Venezuela this summer prices for regular unleaded was 11 cents a gallon! That's not a misprint - 11 cents!

Ahhh, to be in the energy "power position"! ;)

Johan,

The attitude of thai working girls in Thailand is completely different. They are really service oriented - meaning they are not satisfied until you are satisfied. In fact, they are offended when you can't finish with them - they take it personally!! In all the times I have been Thailand, I have had only perhaps 2 girls that were subpar. And they are definitely not clockwatchers either.
In contrast I found Colombian women (in Costa Rica and Colombia) and Costa Rican women to be very pro like - they didn't care whether I finished or not - as long as they put in their time and get their money. I have not seen service like in Thailand anywhere else in the world.

Well I beleive you on your word. I had many times nasty expirences with latinas that gave BAD service. BUT I learned my lesson.....and learned spanish. Now I only pay AFTER the sex...and IF thes ervice was shitty...i give them less what we agreed on.(yes sir...I do that!!) remember hookers are NOT ladies...they cheat on you....so I cheat on them. very easy.

BUT it is BETWEEN my ears you know. I am sorry but thai (or in fact any asian woman) does NOT ring my bell!!!!!!!!!!
I realy like latinas....the way they look...speak....and interact....with a thai you can't communicate...UNLESS you speak thai. (which I don't)
TO learn thai would be VERY diffcicult...and I have absolutely no bound with that country.
Most thai hookers HERE in Europe I know here speak TERRIBLE bad english...and they never ever learn dutch or german....I just can't figure them out. With latinas that is way easier.

Some colombian sluts had the nerves to ask me 100 us $ for st sex back in panama earlier this year!!! ME...100 US???!!!! LOL...yeah right.
I banged her for 40. And even that was maybe 10 more then what she realy desirved!!
Most latina hookers (the pro's) are VERY cheeky and some of the better looking are even arogant or snobs. I don't like that.
It's my way...or the high way. That is a HUGE advantage for US mongers....there are sooo many woman down there. If you don't get along with a ho....don't hassle arround with her too long...just walk on to the next one;-)

my standards are now.....15-20 US for ST....and max 40 US$ for an all-nighter. (which I seldomly do) I am dutch...and I love to bargain...and to haggle. I absolutely don't like to overpay. It would hurt my pride as a Dutchman!!
Just like Ford said in his earlier posting...the economics are realy shitty right now in the DR...and THAT is to OUR advantage. If a girl doesn't like to make 15 US $ for 1-2 hours of sex....well just move on to the next one;-)

Will keep you guys posted.

While we all have the risk of a ripoff from professionals, and as I was in DR 6 times, would recommend, if yo speak a little spanish and you like black girls, go to the small villages where the haitians live. They are very, very friendly and the ripoff risk is small, and also, they will do everything you like and not ask much money. But please, give them a reasonable money, while they are very, very poor. Cannot say exactly a price, as my girls were really like "novias".

I would recommend ST DOP 500, TLN 1000; if you want to keep the girl for several days, and give her food too, she will be happy with DOP 500 each day. Must say it one more time: learn spanish and allmost all doors will be open for you.

Hanging out on the border with Haiti has a farily high malaria risk - Cholroquine is cheap and safe, don't forget it. A week before, each week in country , 4 weeks after you leave. One dose a week.

..........very good advice GP! I have my container of Mefloquine sitting next to my luggage. Never go to C.A., S.A, or the DR w/o it.

Only thing more important is my "industrial sized" container of Cipro 600mg!
If after eating, something hits your stomach that just isn't right - Cipro is guaranteed to put you "back in the game" in 6 hours. :)

I've noticed that the biggest problems in restaurants is that they are smart enough to serve purified water at the table, cook the food well-done, BUT forget and wash the vegtebles or salad in the tap water and then serve it. If they do this you'll know about it - right quick!

cheers........

Suggestion: Avoid Lariam (mefloquine) as it is capable of causing psychotic reactions, it costs too much and the malaria along the Haiti frontier is completely preventable with Chloroquine. Also take it right - 500 mg a week before entry, 500 mg once a week when in the area, and once a week for 4 weeks after leaving the area. Any other dosage regimen is a waste of time and you are unprotected. Many GP's have no clue as to what drug or what dosage is appropriate.

If you have to take Cipro you have to take 500 mg (not sure they even have 600 mg) twice a day for 3-5 days. Not just once. Unless you want the shits again in 12 hours. Twice as strong.

Better recommendation for the tropical traveler - oral Dukoral anti-cholera/anti- E.Coli vaccine. Two doses a week apart then one every 90 days and you won't get TD from E Coli again. Or cholera - not that it is a huge risk really. It was invented to prevent Cholera and they discovered it worked completely against E.Coli traveller's diarrhea as well.

And NEVER eat lettuce (lechuga) as my friend, who has lived in the tropic Americas for the last 30 years, says, you cannot sterilize lettuce with a blowtorch.

GP,

I respect your honest/heart -felt advice but Cipro has brought me back from the dead enough times that you don't mess with what works!

Yes, one tabet immediately after symptoms begin and then another tablet 6 hours later and you'll be back in the Cowgirl Bar before closing. ;)

Lechuga is a killer (true), pepino, and tomate are risky too.

You missed the point Ford. Cipro is the drug of choice, if you are infected it is not a good idea to only take two doses. You can get a worse bounceback infection. It is cheap enough, and 3-5 days for GI distress is the norm.

I spent a few days in Sosua last month. There were sure a lot of girls available at Club X and the 2 outdoor bars across from it (Club 57??) on Calle Pedro Clisante. Club X seemed to attract mostly non-pros. The others were pros-only. The 2 outdoor girlie bars were a bit of a pain as once you sit down for a drink there are 2 (sometimes ugly) girls sitting down on either side of you asking you to buy them drinks. (I always said that I had been buying sooooo many drinks for girls tonight that I didn't have so much money... ;) )

I had one pick-pocket attempt near there on Pedro Clisante. A fairly pretty girl comes up to me and asks if I remembered her from before. No. Are you sure?, she says. She walks with me for a bit on the street and then comes closer and shows how she rubbed my cock then. I quickly notice that the wallet (in my front pocket) is gone and she's got it hidden in her hand. I was awake. I grabbed it back and quickly walked away. (I wished I had grabbed her by the neck and taken her to the police.)

Take-away message: leave everything you don't want to lose at night in Sosua in your hotel, perhaps even the wallet itself (which is usually visible through your pants - a target). You'll only need enough for drinks (1000p?). If you eventually want a girl, you can pay her with the money that you left safe back in your room. There's no need to pay anything up front to the girl while in the bar.

I stayed at the Casa Cayena (www.casacayena.com, casacayena@verizon.net.do). It was very nice. A quiet, little oasis. A pleasant outdoor eating area, small but lovely L-shaped pool, lots of deck chairs. The rooms had hardwood floors, a nice TV, aircon, marble bathrooms, lots of storage space for clothes, huge bed. Friendly, helpful staff. $40 for a room next to the pool (less on the 2nd floor). Breakfast included. The only thing was there was a guest fee - 300p all night or 200p for short time. A good location.

I have photos of the hotel if anyone wishes to see them.

I loved the food at a restaurant called 'Hostaria 24'. It's conveniently at Calle Pedro Clisante 24, near Club X and the other girly bars/action. It's a small outdoor restaurant. Give it a try.

There are a lot of free-lancers in Sosua. Make sure that you are certain of the cost for the girl and what you're getting for it. Double-check it again just before you enter your hotel building. Just a tip to save you a bad experience.

I had a problem there where the price and service totally changed as soon as the girl was in the room. She had originally asked for 300p for a short time, but when in the room it was 800p short time. She was unable to talk at less than a yell - and I speak spanish. She was loud and beligerent and wasn't going to leave (within 2 minutes of entering the room) unless I paid her new price. I eventually negotiated to give her 300p just to leave (plus 200p to the hotel for the sign-in fee). Be careful.

Hi gentlemen,

I have been in bocca chica one year ago. Unfortunally I have taken one of these stupid all-inclusive hotels. Good food, clean rooms - but no way to take a lady into the room. But I checked the scene: a lot of good and guest-friendly hotels, and some nice ladies too. There is a big pro-scene, but especially at the weekends, when the girls from S. Domingoare going to the beach, its possible to do a nice catch. Unfortunally I do not know a lot about the scene in sosua. So maybe somebody can tell me about. I like Haitians, cause my French is much more better then my Spanish. But I prefer the real dr-girls, and of course, not the pros. Right now I am thinking about going to sosua, and maybe travelling down to bc, or to travell through cuba. Maybe some good information will give me some help where to go - and, of course, where to stay in Sosua.

Thanks a lot at all.

If you really mean it when you say you want non-putas then I would suggest you rent a villa or stay somewhere off the strip (i.e Pedro Clisante).

All of the DR women that I have been with this past year (non-putas) are elated to hear me tell them I am staying at Casa Linda...it is off the strip and far away from the prying eyes and big mouths to ensure a true GFE from a non-puta.

I have been in DR about 8 times this year, and the best thing I ever did in my life was rent at Casa Linda.

If you go by yourself it will run you $80 a day...but you have to pay for quality.

Hope this helps...

Can anyone tell me whats the difference between the guesthouse rooms vs. the hotel rooms at the Europa? They are listed at different prices on the website, and this will be my first trip to sosua. I'd also like to know if the studio apartment, or the double bedroom rooms can accomadate three males, who will all need their own bed.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just returned from Sosua and stayed at the Plaza Europa for 5 nights. As I checked in I took a look at the guest house and was not impressed. Only looked at one room, I think it was a studio, but it was kind of old and dingy looking. The hotel rooms are much nicer, in my opinion, and also have a small fridge, coffee maker. The guest house rooms have a small kitchen as I recall, but come on....you're not going to do any cooking at Sosua, are you?? The guest house is detached from the main hotel, across a small street, and I'm not sure of the security there, either. the main hotel has an armed guard out in front at night which is nice. You can probably check them both out when you arrive, although the guest house was pretty full when I showed up.
Good luck.

The standard of the guesthouse appartments varies alot, both in standard and size, most of them are privately owned. It's a good place to stay, and the security is very good.

First, I'd like to thank everyone on this forum for the info they have posted over the years. I have used info here for mongering trips to the DR, Costa Rica and Thailand, and I have tried to return some info and pics in return.

This was my third trip to Sosua. I go there for the chicas and the diving, and will touch on both.

I bought a last minute ticket from JFK to Santiago for $130 on Jet Blue; they don't fly to Puerto Plata which would have been logistically easier but more expensive. Flight left at 12:55 AM and arrived at 0430 AM; I had planned to get on the bus with Caribe tours from Santiago to Sosua, but the first bus didn't leave till 0815 AM and I didn't want to wait that long, so took a cab for about $65...pretty funny, when you consider it was half the plane ticket. Would have been nice to share that cab with someone, but that's the way it goes.

I had made a reservation at the Plaza Europa; on past trips I stayed at the Voramr, which is nice and girl friendly, but a bit out of town. I was impressed by the quality of the Europa and asked for the quietest room away from the street noise. The staff was very accomodating and the owner, Diego, is a GREAT guy and well worth chatting up sometime. He is a wealth of info about the town, cabs, transportation etc. The Europa is NOT a nice luxury hotel; it is a basic mongering hotel but probably the best in town. Good air conditioning, water pressure, in room safe, and daily maid service and a nice big bed. Also had a small fridge in the room and a coffee maker which came in handy.

My daily schedule: up at 7 AM to get to the dive shop by 0830 or so on the beach area. Two dives a day with Dolphin dive shop....they are a great outfit and I highly recommend them. Back to the hotel at 12:30, pick up a chica in the area for bang #1, then back to the beach for a training/workout swim in the bay and lounging on the beach in front of Tony's bar; back to the hotel around 6 PM, pick up chica for bang #2; then off to dinner at La Roca's restaurant. Wonder around the town a bit and maybe pick up chica #3 at 9-10 PM for bang #3 if so inclined. I hit the sack around 11 PM so don't do the allnight disco scene. I think there are more choices and chicas available late at night but since I dive every day I make do.

The diving is good but not superb....I would not travel to Sosua to dive were it not for the chicas, but it is still very decent. Good coral reefs and sea life and the dive operators are very professional and friendly. Last trip I spent a day watching the windsurfers and kite surfers over at Cabarete...looks like fun, too, but think there wasn't much wind on this trip.

I did two three-ways with a couple girls I liked....tried one first and asked her if she could bring an amiga. They are fun but the chicas only get into them so so; kind of mechanical so wouldn't be on my regular menu. They won't do any lesbo stuff either.

Money and prices: I think the Europa was something like $32 a day plus tax. Total price was $190 for 5 nights. I speak some Spanish, but not conversational, and I do bargain some but not forever. Most of the girls started out asking for "dos mil" (2000 pesos RD) but would quickly accept either 1000 or slightly above that. Of course the better looking girls wanted more and were more difficult to talk down, but generally for a short time 1000-1500 pesos RD seemed the norm. I suppose you might do better but I was there to monger, not hassle all day. I made it clear I wanted to go for two pops, "dos veces" and usually had no problem with that as long as I mentioned it UP FRONT. I never did an all night "todo la noche" cause I don't want them around all night, so can't offer much info on that. I am very nice to the girls and treat them as girlfriends. Generally they were very nice in return and offered decent service. Most did BBBJ and covered intercourse in any position I wanted. I encouraged them to take a shower before we started and they like to do that anyway. Occasionally I like to DATY but not always....if the girls was shaved (most are) I might partake. I like to kiss and most of the girls are willing but not all. I always offered a breath mint before we started and they seemed to like that, too.

Overall, I thought the chicas provided excellent service for the money and I collected many phone numbers for return visits. Sometimess the phone calls are worth making and sometimes it's just as easy to pick up a new chica. They are hanging out all over the place in bars near the Europa and on the streets surrounding it. There are even girls in the hotel lobby and bar in the evening, which makes it really convenient. My cell phone doesn't work there so I used public phones on the street to call chicas....just requires a 5cent peso coin to operate. In the future I might rent an Orange phone that works there.

See the photos section for my recent trip pics.

Sosua was pretty quiet the week I was there (27 Oct-1 Nov); the town actually seemed a bit empty.

There were some occaional power "brown-outs", but the bars just bring out the candles and carry on. It is not unusual in that part of the country. The Europa had its own backup generator which picks up during a failure, although it won't keep the AC running.

For the return trip I arranged a Caribe Tours bus (90 pesos....yup, just $3!!!) from Sosua to Santiago, but then a 500 peso cab back to the airport. Still a lot cheaper than the $65 taxi ride. The Caribe bus is VERY NICE....shaded windows, great airconditioning and a small lavatory on board.
I was flying standby on American which would have worked out GREAT since there were plenty of seats but they cancelled the flight I was on and had to wait about 4 hours for the next flight. Oh, well.

I think Sosua is a fantastic mongering destination. The people are all very friendly, tourist oriented and there are lots of pretty chicas all over the place of every color, shape and size. Something for everyone. The DR is a bit scruffy overall and certainly a third world country, but nice to have something like that just three hours away by air, instead of the much longer flights to Costa Rica and Thailand or Brazil.

I always bring a big bag of my own condoms and lubrication, and the girls seem to like that.

I tried one of the short time hotels around the corner; think it was called the Hotel Callisto (or something like that). 300 pesos RD for an hour and it was acceptable for that....only used it if the girl didn't have an ID (La Cedula). Don't start ripping into me about the ID....the girls I saw were not under 18 but not all of them have the required ID for the hotel. Actually, the Europa WILL let you bring in a chica without an ID but you have to sign a release and sometimes just not worth the hassle.

Hope this report is some help to everyone. I've probably missed a few things but tired of typing.

Thanks again to all of you who contribute reports and pics.

Dstruggle,

Black is not the colour that Dominican girls like most.

White is not the colour that they like most either.

The colours they really like are green (dollars, 500 pesos notes, green card) and red (1,000 pesos notes); so yes, it’s your money’s colour what will attract them not your skin colour.

Many girls are open minded. A few years back I would say that most girls preferred white guys. Not that they would not be open to black guys etc, but white was their preference.

It is pretty ironic but a popular phrase down there is "mejorando la raza". . . .which means bettering the race. Many familes think marrying "white" is marrying "up".

I always though a country that had such a mixed population would be less concerned about race, but in many cases, they are more concerned.

In more recent years, I have seen more chicas that seem to dig the whole hip hop thing. Many MPs wore out 50 cent etc, and groups of black guys walking in would get swamped with attention.

Bottom line is, none of it is enough to be concerned about. Working girls care about green the most, and nice girls want a guy that will be faithful, respectful and treat them well. Even if their initial preference is white or black, I'd say the vast majority are open to guys of any color. I haven't seen many girls that say they would not date a black guy, or not date a white guy etc.

Great report on Sosua ZIPHEAD! Very helpful for my next trip re: Plaza Europa. I've been on the edge about where to stay and you helped make up my mind. Last time I stayed waaaaay out of town, more toward Cabrete, so I didn't get a real working knowledge of the place, at least enough to check out the in-town hotels. I was mostly hanging out at the town beach during the day. Excellent mongering opportunities if you're not diving....under water that is.

Also, the ST hotel you mentioned is the CALYPSO for 300 RSD. I ended up there a number of times, whenever I need a place to play in Sosua.

Also, you've got a nice easy to read style. Hey, that's important too!

I want to thank you for your recent trip report. I am currently planning a return trip to Boca Chica, but after reading your trip report,I may head to Sosua. My interests are much like yours,e.g. Scuba diving, and getting laid. The only doubt I have is getting to Sosua from Santiago. Is the bus available from the airport? Is there a printed schedule for the bus somewhere? My spanish is very limited, but I'm working on that.

I'll check your pics in the photo section, and hopefully I'll hear back from others on this site about transportation.

Take a taxi from the airport to http://www.caribetours.com.do/. The schedule is listed on the website. I don't know the cost since I haven't done this. Just make sure you agree on a price before you get in the cab. Caribe Tours Santiago to Sosua is about US$5-6. A cab from the bus station in Sosua to your hotel will be another $4-5.

Or fly in to Puerto Plata (POP), just a few miles and a $20 taxi ride from Sosua.

On my first trip I had like 0 Spanish and did just fine.

Sosua is a bit like Boca Chica, only with more of just about everything and a nicer beach, IMHO.

Dominicans are brain washed about race, its sad but it is true.

I agree on that one. I have seen so many women (light skin or middle brown) doing so many crazy stuff to their skin only to look more white!!!

But it is also known to many dominicans that most white forreign man prefer darker women...;-)

Another crazy example is the Faro Colon monument in Santo Domingo.....
I personaly find it awfully UGLY...:-(
The former government realy thought about Columbus as some hero....who brought "civilisation"and "culture"to the Americas. And many dominicans realy beleive that crap even today.
In fact my opinion is that the guy was nothing more then a robber and a thief and a murderer!
He murdered many indian people and stole their gold etc...etc..etc...
Why put up such an expenisve monument for such a crook??

I agree on that one. I have seen so many women (light skin or middle brown) doing so many crazy stuff to their skin only to look more white!

But it is also known to many dominicans that most white forreign man prefer darker women.

Another crazy example is the Faro Colon monument in Santo Domingo.

I personaly find it awfully UGLY.

Why put up such an expenisve monument for such a crook?

Johan.Don't mean to get off the chica topic. The monument was put up by Balaguer the ex-dominican president who was a racist and spinned Dominican History around big time. I have studied the history of Hispanola and have wrote numerous papers on guys like Trujillo and Balaguer when I was going to college send me an email if you are interseted to know more Im a history buff, [Email Address deleted by Admin]

Johan claims, "most white foreign men prefer darker women" Really? Where do you get that 'factoid'? Is it because that is what you prefer, so everyone must think like you do? Common sense would tell you the opposite is true. However, after reading your childish, history revisionist tirade about Columbus, obviously common sense is not one of your strenghs.

Tenderfoot,

I don't know were you got your education (if you have any!) but I certainly don't hope you are going to tell me Adolf Hitler is a swell guy...and Stalin was a real funny dude.NOT!
If you realy read about the history of your continent you should know Columbus was a first rate asshole.

I never stated that everybody must like what I like. I merely told in my posting the fact that I noticed white man prefer darker women. If you walk through sosua or in fact any other larger town in the DR you will notice this.
BTW have you ever been there?

And I say that most darker women look much better then the white women there. But THAT is MHO.

Hey everybody!

I will be in Sosua from Nov23-26, will be staying at Hotel Europa. I speak fluent Spanish in case anybody needs any help. Who will be there? Probably we can get together for chica hunting in the Thanksgiving weekend.

My friends and I stayed in many places before while in Sosua, DR. Some were the hotels you read about in here and some were shared villa rentals or condos in places near by.

Here is one worth mentioning: It's more low key, private, and spacious. It is also conveniently located and near everything you'll ever need. We got a group discount for staying there so much. We each paid about $55 per night.

With all due respect, I'm a white dude from Florida, and when I travel to Thailand, I generally go for the darker meat. I'm not sure why common sense would dictate the contrary. I don't know of any studies that look at white men's preference in terms of skin color, so you are right, all we can do is speculate.

Pricey?

Well, to some, but I guess different strokes for different folks applies again here ans you really need to compare apples to apples. Guess you didnt inquire about a discount either.

We paid about $55 per night for our own apartment style suites. It was near everything, clean, never a problem with towels or changing linens, safe, plus it was never a problem to dip in the pool with your chicas at 3 in the morning with music playing.

Trade offs exist when you decide to stay at other places. We too were offered a slightly less expensive place to stay, but the place was out of town and we needed to rent a car to get around if we did rent it..and deal with the high cost of gas, so we just stuck to this place...it's definately convenient and you can get to everything by just walking.

$25-$30 a night? Maybe if you rented for one month or like to live in a box day to day.

Happy Holidays everyone. I hope this is useful to some, just sharing some info.

Happy Holidays everyone. I hope this is useful to some, just sharing some info.I disagree, you can stay most anywhere in Sosua for $30 / night, I rented a condo 10 min walk from downtown (or short motoconcho ride) for $400 for 2 weeks $28.00 / night. Definitely NOT a box, full kitchen a/c bedroom new bathroom, living room, 2 balconies and huge pool / gardens.

But when you rent the place we did, you get full use of the entire villa as we liked, got picked up at the airport, and had no problem with jumping in the pool at 3 in the morning with music playing after we brought some girls back from the disco.

I think if you rent a condo, you can't do what we did because you have condo rules and other people staying next to you/on top of you/ and below you for all different vacation reasons and sometime w/ families, or for business, those who dont monger, kids, or just other people and aave to share the pool with others and can't make "noise" as we did.

When we got the tour, it was explained to us that they never book to capacity in order to give the guests maximum comfort and privacy...just another great reason why we continue to rent from them.

Happy Holidays everyone!

You can not compare renting a condo in a multi-unit building to renting an apartment or room(s) in a private villa. The price comparisons will never be fair for what you get for your money.

Monger 3,

I think the best thing to do would be to set yourself up in a hotel for a few days then go on foot in search of an apt that way you can see what your getting. Most people will welcome you even impromptu. Also you dont want to be too close to the action because it can be rather noisy till the wee hours.

I've done a google search on sosua apt's and there are websites with all sorts of rentals on it.

I stay at www.hotelkaoba.com in cabarete. They allow women for a $10 fee which isn't great but it can be worse up to $20 someplaces. They have in room safes in all the rooms and a fridge. The safe is priceless since I like to go to the beach with almost nothing. You can catch a collectivo (shared cab) For almost nothing to sosoua and maybe $3/4 on motoconcho.

Good luck

Great idea to get pictures first and the best rate for staying multiple nights or bringing others along to stay as well.

Staying in Cabarete sucks due to the location for our purposes here and the extra charges for bringing a guest. Riding on a moto-concho is a death trap waiting to happen. Be warned.

That would work, except there hasn't been anything posted in the exchange rate thread for over a month!

Try this instead:
www.oanda.com/convert/classic

It's about 33.5:1 today

You can print a travel conversion cheat sheet to know how much the chica is trying to fuck you over for.

Actually, the rate was updated by someone on 11/25/05. Guess you missed that one...

It's post# 345269

Also, i only recommend DR1 dot com because people who live down there and visit often post quite often about the actual rates they get when they change money or cash checks. Other sits like Finance Yahoo or the one listed below only give you a ball park figure and are not exact. Most often those quotes are based on the money exchanged between banks and large institutions.

The street dictates the exchange rate we get.

Oops! I didn't see that they had the oldest report posted first! My bad.

I know that when I was in BC last year, the bank was giving a rate almost identical to Oanda, Western Union was slightly less, the hotel was giving about 2 pesos per US$ more, and the cambio at SDQ was giving slightly more.
The putas were always wanting Western Union rates.

I was drawing out pesos through the ATM with a Visa check card. The rate was Oanda's rate for the previous day. Prices of food and other goods were still quoted in pesos as though the rate was still about 45:1 instead of the 33:1 average it was the week I was there. Pretty sad when a plate of food costs USD$2.50 more than it did just a few weeks earlier.

Mister NYC,

I agree with you about the motoconcho thing but when your there your going to be in a situation where you will have no choice but to take it. I recommended cabarete becuase I think Sosua is a little dirty and you wont get a feel for the beauty that DR has to offer. I go to Sosua in the afternoons to drink and whatever but then I have something relaxing to come home to. Just a thought.

I dont mind paying $10 to get the girl into the hotel. I've never paid more than $40 for sex and they stay well past one hour. I like the hotel and for $35 a night in a pretty nice complex with a CLEAN pool across the street from the sand I'm loving it.

I value my time in such a picturesque country. There are chicas in cabarete as well just not as many.

There is a bar right outside of cabarete heading towards sosua named "tipico" beds on premise.

I was just turned off by staying in Sosua.

I'm a New Yorker as well.

Taxi from POP airport to Cabarete is probably about 800 pesos, maybe a lil less. I believe there is a rate sheet posted at the airport of all fares to and from, but it may be posted in dollars.

Cabarete and Sosua will cost 300 pesos, maybe less for a private taxi.

Make friends with the tax driver that takes you from the airport to cabarete and tell him you'll be using him from now on as long as he gives you a great deal on prices, etc.

Enjoy!

Do a search for "Hot Latin Pussy Adventures 12"

(Such a cute title!)

(Must have been a while back though, because apparently the series is up to #39).
Additionally, despite the shooting location, the article said that most of the girls came from Santiago.

What is the scoop with Sosua nowadays. gearing up for an invasion in 3 weeks, and I want to make sure my time is well spent there (vs. other places like Cabarete or further out like Samana, Nagua)...I will have a week, and want to continue my trend of bang for buck...I never spend more than 1200 pesos for TLN, but in my last 2 of 6 trips, the chicas definitely had price inflation on their minds...the peso has fallen a bit since my last trip (from 27 to about 33), but are these hoe$ still tripping...or is there plenty of fresh fish out there to get with night in and night out!

As far as an accurate Sosua UPDATE, I am not the one to post about this. Talk to me in 2006 and I will tell it like it is without holding back.

From a few reliable sources who are in Sosua now, it is the place to be for the action you need and want. The discos are the place like usual. Girls normally want 1,500 pesos easy, some ask for 2,000 and settle for 1,500 at the end. Lot of new girls in town looking for a few extra pesos to make for the x-mas holiday approaching. All the girls like to wear new outfits and buy things, if they have the money, for the holidays.

I imagine it will be like last two years this time as well... half will go back home for the holidays and half will stay with some new ones around for the picking.

Hi Guys:

All fall, I bitched around town that I could not get a street map of Sosua. The shops that sold maps were only too happy to sell me DR maps, which I didn't want. Finally, I got a tip there was a map on the lobby wall of the Ayundiamente (City Hall), and I checked it out.

I took several photos, and I'm attaching the one of El Batey. I thought I would be able to read street names, which were all listed, but either Photoshop or my eyes are not good enough. Anyway, I hope this helps you folk in your adventures.

I took some "standback" photos of the map, which includes Charamicos, since it is part of Sosua. Should anyone want one of these, please PM me and I'll be happy to comply. Please don't clutter up the correspondence board with requests.

Thanks,

SS

No, just kidding guy. Reality is that most girls will be back home with families and kids and moms for the holidays. Some that I know have already left and more will be leaving in the next few days and will return on the 2nd or 3rd or later days in January. Girls have come into the scene just to make that holiday cash and will be gone soon. However, not everyone has a home to go back to, so you will see some chicas around, just not as much.

I would hit one of the clubs in POP the first and second nights down in D.R. and make friends with chicas to hang with later on, for example, on new years eve, etc.

Cabarete is real nice for new years eve. Imagine popping your bottles of champagne into the ocean and watching fireworks over head and the bon fires at the beach WITH YOUR LOVELY CHICA! Priceless man.

Happy Holidays!
