Here's my version of the same type of grousing. I had already typed it up so I'm posting it.
Went a few times last week, sometime between 6:00 pm And 11:00 pm So I could catch the last trolley. Easy pat down and metal detector, never a cover charge or mandatory drink purchase. First time in each trip and it's like this is heaven man. So many beautiful women. But nowadays it's a bikini bar for the most part. Even on the main stages, many just go topless and the ones that do go nude don't proudly show you their pussy for a tip. (I didn't take notes or keep counts so I might be exaggerating.).
I did buy one girl a beer. She actually came up and said Hello,. When she asked to go upstairs I verified that the rooms are now $40. So I said no thanks. It would take a really hot nympho who was all over me for me to do that, which means never. And the hotel rooms are now 90+ so you would have to do at least three girls per day to make that pay versus $40 each time. I also worked out the VIP card and it wasn't helpful for me because I wouldn't be staying two Monday nights. Sorry, I don't remember the details on that.

The 6% inflation you quoted is year over year, that is prices of this say July, compared to July last year. If HK think mongers will pay $150 for a 30 min session and $40 for rooms outrageous amount for drinks, then they have their work cut out for them. While in Zona Norte, the 4 most common transactions for sex tourist. Girl, hotel, beer, and taxi will always be quoted in usd prices and you can expect your change to be returned in usd as well. You pay her directly. She is not an ATM so your chances of getting change are slim. If you need change, ask the waiter or bartender to break your larger bills in advance.
More broadly, most businesses accept dollars. Many outside of the Zona Norte will give change in pesos. They're not equipped to give change in dollars. All of the Zona Norte bars can give change in dollars or pesos, whichever you prefer.

Couple women and a young guy in the open-air shop on Constitucion are very good barbers, charge 150 pesos. They know how to shape hair and attend to every detail on your head. The good thing is you never have to wait around for a hair cut. They are always ready to cut your hair.
The shop across the street on the West side charges 200 pesos. I cannot stand the bad odors and stale air in that place.
For altering clothes, there's a shop with a couple women on Coahuila, next to the cambio. They do good work, hemming your pants, fixing broken zipper ect for cheap.
For car maintenance and repair, go to Refaccionaria on Negrete and Calle 4. Bring your own oil and filter, they charge only 100 pesos for labor.
For mounting and balancing tires, buy your tires at Walmart and bring them to the tire shop at the North end of Revo. They charge only $5 for mount and balance a tire compared to $25 at Walmart.
For good, cheap body repairs, go to Carillos on Calle 3 right before Negrete. Owner Rubin speaks English and is a good, fun, reasonable guy. He has a couple good body guys, did a couple good jobs for me cheap. He owes me, so tell him you are a friend of El Capitan Solo, he will give you good deals.

Mexicanas are my fave, dead stop.Police shakedowns are a little different in Mexico. It's not everywhere. It is usually limited to specific locations, but in that location it is 10 x. For example the zona norte of Tijuana. In Mexico City, it is the outskirts of the city on the freeway exiting the city. These locations are often listed on youtube. So if you could avoid a lot of the shakedowns by managing your time and location when you move around.

Thanks on the haircut advice and really appreciate the tip on clothes alteration. Have a couple pairs of shorts that I've been meaning to get altered for a long while now. Don't know if I'll actually go through with a haircut in Mexico but will definitely make a note to check out the alteration service when I'm in Tijuana next month as I'm sure they'd be cheaper than the prices I'm looking at here in the US.

Any suggestions.Depending on the day of the week and how busy they are sometimes they'll let you check in a bit early (though definitely wouldn't count on that honestly). I've never stayed at Tropical's hotel but I very regularly stay at HK's hotel (Cascadas) across the street that's owned by the same folks. At HK they have a waiting room in the main lobby where you can wait with your bags until your check-in time, Tropical's hotel might have a similar waiting room though I wouldn't know. At either hotel I'm sure they'd let you check your bags with them for a little bit while you go down to the bar, though they might expect a small tip as a courtesy.

Completely agree with your second point too. More broadly, most businesses accept dollars. Many outside of the Zona Norte will give change in pesos. They're not equipped to give change in dollars. All of the Zona Norte bars can give change in dollars or pesos, whichever you prefer.
First question: You negotiate directly with the girl, not the bar. Prostitution is legal in MX but pimping is not so the ownership considers it a transaction between you and her. If you need to break a large bill, I'd recommend that you go to one of the bartenders (not a mesero) and get change before you even start talking to the girl.

Trip Report to Tijuana 8/17-8/19.
*everything in this trip report is probably common knowledge to Tijuana regulars but perhaps some of it can be useful to folks considering Tijuana for the first time*.
For some background info, I'm a bit of a seasoned hobbyist with experience in Brazil, and Colombia but not much in Mexico. On Saturday, I was on a family vacation in Rosarito and took the 35 min Uber ride at night to check out HK. At the door, they charged $6 for entry as they had some type of event. Comes with a free beer. Paid it and walked in. There was a shit load of customers / guys in here but also easily 300+ girls were inside and the time was about 11:30. Lot of really good options, I was impressed and thankful that my commute from Rosarito wasn't wasted. Got a drink and talked to a few girls who all quoted me about 120. However, as I mentioned earlier, I'm experienced in Brazil and Colombia and I expect certain things like BBBJ as a standard. But I did see a "ready lane" which was going by pretty fast, is that lane accessible for anyone with a US passport or the "REAL" ID that California has? Curious if most people on the forum also walk across the border or if yall stay in actual Tijuana or other cities when you visit. I really enjoyed staying in Rosarito so I might do that again even with the 35-40 min distance and Uber issues.
- Speaking of Rosarito, one of my Uber drivers also told me about the gentlemen Clubs in Rosarito and we even passed that on the way to Tijuana. He said he used to work security at one and that they're all overpriced and shitty compared to Tijuana. If I had more days and if this was a strictly hobbying trip, I would've maybe checked out those clubs too. But just didn't have the time.
- Women in HK and Chicago walking around in bikinis is great compared to many hobbying spots in Brazil which*don't have that (incl the world famous Scandallo). There's no surprises really and you can see how their body is before taking them to the room.
- Some of the staff at the resort I stayed in Rosarito told me about how dangerous Tijuana is in casual convos without me even mentioning going there. The Uber drivers that took me to Tijuana also said the same thing. I've hobbied in some of the sketchy areas of Rio de Janeiro so compared to that, I didn't feel Tijuana was more dangerous by any means. However, I'm a brown 6'1 guy that's not too old and in decent shape, so I don't necessarily stick out like a sore thumb white guy in an area full of Hispanics. But even for white people, I don't think there's a ton to worry about if you're using common sense and don't go looking for trouble.
- The biggest turnoff for me from my trip to the clubs in Tijuana were the servers at the clubs. They are so damn pushy and annoying. I don't want a fucking drink the second I'm inside and even after you tell one person that you don't want a drink, 3 seconds later another will come by and ask if you want a drink. At Brazilian AYCE steakhouses (I'm talking about places like Fogo de Chao / Texas de Brazil etc), they give you a card which is green on one side and red on the other. The green means yes you want them to keep coming to your table and serving you the meat and the red means that you're fine and you don't want anything. It would be nice to have something similar here for drinks to stop*being bothered by bartenders.
- Also the concept of immediately needing to buy the girl a drink when you've barely said "Ola" to them is pretty crazy. It also made me realize that these servers must be watching every move of every male customer inside because as soon as you even remotely stand next to a girl and make eye contact, BAM they come by harassing you to buy the girl a drink. And I guess the rule is, the girl has to be having customer-bought drinks in order to even entertain the customer for a 2 min conversation? I get it that this is how the club makes its money but they need to have a different option where we pay a cover entry (similar to places in Brazil) like say $40-$60 and then we don't get harassed to buy drinks for girls if their having just a 10 second convo with you. I can understand needing to buy a drink for a girl if you're talking to them for a while but needing to do it the instant moment you even say Hi to them is pretty damn annoying. Again, I get that this is a business but fuck, just charge me more for an entry fee instead. The drink prices are pretty reasonable ($10-11 for most drinks) so it's not necessarily the cost I have an issue with, it's just the hassle of it all.
- Most girls I talked to don't live in Tijuana and live hours away even by flight. They come to Tijuana for a week or two, make their bread and then return to their places. Including one of the girls I session'd with who is already back and Chihuahua.
- Maybe I just got lucky but from my limited experience, getting BBFS was far easier and cheaper here than anywhere in Colombia or Brazil. The servers called meseros or meseras (feminine) harass you the moment you step into the clubs, specially in Chicago. At least in TB or HK they peel off of you if you say no, in Chicago they are persistent pests. They have to make a living though and some like me believe they actually pay the clubs to work there.
The other issue the clubs in the zona really serious about is taking pictures or capturing videos inside the clubs. One can and will be thrown out after they force delete the footage taken.
Also I have seen a drunk moron roughed up by the security guys one time who decided to make a fool of himself by exposing his private parts for everyone to see. They dragged him by his legs and threw him out like a piece of trash that he was.

LOL, I don't think customers who "make it rain" are interested in thinking about it in a mathematical sense or any other logical manner. They're just trying to enjoy themselves and have fun. Not too much different than blowing loads of money at the casino where, from a "pure mathematical sense" as you put it, the expected value for nearly every game you play is going to be negative in the long run. Of course in the casino there's also the chance you win loads of money short-term but most people I think are realistic and go just because it's a fun time for them, not because they actually expect to win.
I'm very frugal so would tend to think of things closer to the perspective that you have but not everyone thinks that way. To each his own and am personally glad those people blowing loads of money in the clubs seem to be enjoying themselves. At the end of the day stuff like that is what helps keep these clubs in operation for guys like you and me.

Anybody else find it annoying sometimes that they want you to keep on the wristband when you check in? They always ask why I took it off when I come back to the hotel, I tell them do you really expect me to wear it all day? Like shower with it or go to a decent restaurant with it on? LOL. Ticuan hotel: I'd suggest you do Ticuan your first time if you go the hotel route. It's a nice place, the area is safe. Most staff speak English. There's a decent supermarket 3 blocks away. I just looked and it's like $100/ night weekend nights. You can have multiple escorts come to your room (you can have only one visitor at a time unless you get a multiple occupancy room). Escorts typically charge $120/ up, but on average I pay $150, for an hour, including extras I like. Most escorts give GFE or close to it. You meet the girl in the lobby, the hotel will copy her ID before you can take her up. Uber costs $4 and a taxi is $10 or even $12 each way to HK or most places you'll go. You can find escorts on various websites and on Telegram (I'm on dozens Telegram groups). You can walk around Revolucion (the main street next to the hotel) late at night- I feel very safe but just be aware and all the usual safety practices- and there's decent food choices, even coffee shops. This has been my MO for last 2 years and I prefer this.

Both are nice hotels- the one big difference is Ticuan is much more secure- you'll have to play tricks to get a girl past the front desk (where the elevator is) while at Pueblo it's much easier- a girl can just walk to the elevator and go up. So if you want a papertrail of the girl visitors (and they check to be sure she's not a problem, age wise), then Ticuan is the better choice. There might be some advantage in using pesos with girls because it's increased in value in the last month but the girls know how to use their calculator on the phone and know the rate generally- the exception are the street girls- they upcharge massively if you use dollars.
Get the app "Currencyxt" - it updates the current rates and you can do easy calculations on it.
There's a few places to exchange at the border along the road to the line. That used to work for me.Yes, the restroom is by the line on the Mexican side (10 pesos.) The next one is in the border building on the US side after passport control. (on the right side, free). Another one is inside McDonald's across the street (50 cents). This is a problem if you wait 3-4 hours in a car at the border. Mexicans sell empty bottles for $1 or $2 and you can pee in the car. On Sunday afternoon, allow yourself about 2 hours for the line to the border. The line looks awfully long but it moves because they let about 50 people into the building every 10-15 minutes.

Read it on wiki and make sure you understand how that law works. I flew a Mexican woman into the USA after seeing her several times in Mexico. She was harassed so badly by USA customs she was in tears. USA customs actually called me to make sure I was not some trafficker, and she had an American visa and had been to the USA before. Of course, Trump was president then, and she did not dress conservatively. It might be different now.
And technically, the Mann Act applies if you fly a woman between two countries. You are probably not going to have a problem with that but if she dresses like a hooker, and you are sixty years older than her, you are asking for trouble.
The second part is travel within Mexico is pretty cheap, and you can wait until the last minute. About half the time the women will tell you they want to go, and they may really want to and then get scared and have cold feet and blow you off.

For altering clothes, there's a shop with a couple women on Coahuila, next to the cambio. They do good work, hemming your pants, fixing broken zipper ect for cheap.

Stayed at Cascadas this past Mexican Independence Day weekend. Just some general observations:
1) Noticed that the VIP card has very recently increased from $60 to $70 for 3 months. Cash deposit on the cheapest room is now $40.
2) All of the new elevators in Cascadas are now fully operational (they weren't on my last trip back in May).
3) As mentioned in some other posts, there's some major construction going on in the road right in front of HK / Cascadas. Actually makes it a bit easier to cross the street (to Tropical) since there's a lot less traffic coming through that street as a result. The taco stand is still in the same place despite the construction work.
4) Had a chica I've known for a few years come up to my room during her HK shift and was told by a mesero that accompanied her to my door that I had to pay for 5 drinks ($55) for her to come into my room. Kinda pissed me off as that's never happened before. Have known this chica for a while and have always been able to text and get her to come up to my room during her shift with no issues, no mesero accompanying her, no payment necessary. So that was surprising and she said she was surprised by it as well given that she's never had problems coming to see me in the past. He thought it was funny, I didn't. Luckily he went away doing or saying nothing. Facking piece of shit. I was fuming, I talked to one of the security guys, showed him who he was and he told me he will talk to the big boss there.
They do this kind of crap. One came and asked me to buy a drink to this girl I was talking to, whom I was tipping, hugging her and putting dollars in her clothing. She was a nice looking girl, good slim dark body, nice smile. Then this vulture started yelling, "bebida para la chica" told him I was giving her tips. Then he said something in Spanish and rubbed his elbows indicating I was being stingy. He killed her mood. I whispered to her I will would talk to her later when I would be ready for arriba, and sent her away.

Speaking of meseros I might as well drop my latest unfortunate interaction with one. A couple weeks back I had made arrangements with one of my regulars to come see me on one of her days off. In true working chica fashion she was running a bit late so I headed down to HK to kill some time. I ran into another one of my regulars who was stuck in Chavelas purgatory for the time being. She was already drinking a beer so when a mesero saw me sit down next to her he starts hounding me to buy her a drink. I told him wait just let her finish this and then we'll get one. He goes no you have to get her one if you're going to sit with her. I was like fine whatever and told the girl to get whatever she wanted. Since her beer was damn near full she ordered a tequila shot. It took her around 20 minutes or so to finish her drinks. I started getting texts from the other girl who kept updating me on her ETA. The girl and I then look at each other like, did I forget to pay? I vividly remember paying for the tequila shot, but didn't remember whether I paid for the beer, which I thought I did, but wasn't exactly sure. I ask the girl, didn't I pay for it? I thought you did, she says. The mesero then goes, just pay me for the 2 drinks and I can go. I say, wait a minute, I don't know what this 2 drink bullshit is about. We just ordered one tequila shot and one beer, that's it, and I 100% paid for the tequila shot. We were then both at a standoff. Not to mention I was also pissed because I had completely lost my boner and the entire mood had been ruined. The mesero then goes fine just pay me for the beer and I'll leave. Even though I thought it was bullshit I grabbed eleven bucks from my wallet and handed it to him. He seemed to be expecting a tip but I just shut the door in his face. I asked the girl, didn't I pay for the beer too? I honestly don't remember, she says. Shit. I didn't either. I thought I did but who the fuck knows at this point.
Anyway, after that interaction we all jumped back into bed and we were able to pick things up where we left off and my hard on was able to return, fortunately. What I took away from this was to always try to remember who your mesero is and try to get one you're already familiar with if he's around to avoid bullshit like this.

So do the reception workers in the Hotels. They used to round out the dollar exchange to their favor, taking away few cents / dollar ending up with $20 or more in their pockets. Now the Hotels don't even show rooms prices in Pesos. I guess they got tired of guests complaining about the unabated swindlers there.
By the way, always come prepared with your payment calculated with discounts and deposits added and cross check what they tell you to the sum you got. If you are staying with VIP's and coupon discounts those bastards will make you pay over and pocket the differences.
Watch your cash you put on the reception desks and also the change they give you. There are incidents including one of those hawks grabbed a twenty while showing me something and I realized quickly that I was short by that much from the money I had out on the table. Called him on it and he said "yeah I meant to grab everything, sorry I thought you were paying with that." Yeah right.
I was also swindled nearly $40 from a change, noticed it when I got to the quicky room with a girl. I left her there and walked quickly and called him out on it, he gave me back the money.

All of this sounds interesting to me. This never really crossed my mind. Can someone give a hypothetical example of how this would work out? So you meet a girl in Tijuana for example. Get to know each other for a while and decide to go on a trip together. If you live in Whereever, USA do you just buy her flight online from Tijuana to the destination and you fly as well then meet in the airport or hotel? The fire door adjoins another penthouse, and the clearance under the fire door makes it really easy for sound to travel between rooms; as in there is literally zero insulation. My last night I was trying to get to bed at around midnight so I could make my flight, and the guy in the suite next door was blasting music hella loud. Writing a full report on all the days of my trip to Tijuana last week (Monday. Thursday) would have been too long of a post, so I'll just write about the most eventful day (which was Wednesday), along with the notable chicas I interacted with. This post will be about the chicas:

However if for some reason you don't have them there are other options.

Total ripoff as HK is like 7-10 minutes max from the pedestrian exit area depending on the time of day and traffic.
My recommendation is to avoid the taxi, use the free transport / shuttle provided by Hong Kong. As you exit the turnstyle from Mexican custom / Ped East Exit after that long walk you will come to the street and see the taco / food vendors. You turn right on the main street, and then make the 2nd quick right. This will be right where people are lined up to walk back from Mexico to the US if you are not sure, you can ask someone where is the line to walk back to US. You will see a small storefront that says Zona Shuttle. You will get put on a limo or regular car quickly for free but please tip the driver at least 2 bucks, or 1 at the bare minimum.
Second option is to order an Uber for about 65-85 pesos which is roughly 3 to 4 us dollars. This can be tricky to find a landmark though so pin your location so driver knows where you are,.
As far as girl prices most will want 100-150 for 30 minutes which I am sure is way more than 10 years ago. You even have to negotiate to be lucky to get them for $100-120 as many won't budge.

There is a cheaper option. The collectivo taxi that leaves for the zona centro and drops you off at the burger king on revolucion. 14 to 16 pesos.

Not very classy or discreet at all.Sorry but this made me chuckle as well. You are worried about someone looking at you in a limo with pitch black windows for which I promise you cannot be seen. Also, this is Tijuana, people really don't give a shit if you are going to any of these clubs. In fact, I even see normal families or people dining at the Hotel Rizo restaurant minding their own business as mongers sit next to their hooker girlfriends. Lastly, just know that civilians will see you going in and out of the girlie clubs and you cannot be discrete about that, so I would worry more about being seen coming in and out of these clubs as opposed to being in a pitch black limo. Just my two cents so others are not dissuaded; but I respect your preference.

Also the club may offer sex but many guys just go to enjoy the strip club side of it. I often think I might run into someone I know in the club but if you're just sitting in the bar watching girls or drinking with a girl who cares. Also they are in that place as well. With the ridiculous prices the taxis are charging I would care less what others think.
