IMHO, never heard of this crap. But to be fair, perhaps you can show me some scientific data. I have seen many people world over, with similar problems: white, black, yellow afflicted with the same problem.
Well some people have a severe reaction to my comments too.
There was no attempt to be racial.

I have checked up on the web briefly and apparently while a fair percentage of Asians have a very unusually high reaction to alcohol in a small dose, those that are officially "allergic" are very few:

But I have certainly met quite a few Asians who seem drunk after just one glass. However this is not exclusive to Asians.

I haven't done a scientific study personally, and of course do not have the experience to compare Asians to other races.

Go visit a big box store in HCMC, eg Metro (like Costco or Careforr) - there is literally btw 2-3,000 sq ft of space in the back devoted just for beer.

And I won't comment on my drinking habits before going on the wagon a couple of years ago.

I don't dispute that Asians may be amongst the highest consumers of alcohol despite the others ones abstaining.
I personally only drink occasionally and am drunk very few times per year.

The less the alcohol, the better the sex (for me only). Too much alcohol is like an anesthetic for my other head. Two or three is O.K. I envy other guys who can be completely drunk and still perform normally. But working girls say its definitely the norm that guys with too much to drink are not so good in bed.

There's nothing racist about it. It's simply a fact that some races are genetically less tolerant to alcohol than other races, just as some races are genetically more prone to heart disease, etc. South East Asians are on the whole less tolerant to alcohol than other races, and because of metabolic differences will become more drunk on the same amount of alcohol than caucasians.

Of course, individual differences are the exception to this. For example, a tiny 40kg Thai BG drinking every night can probably handle more alcohol due to increased alcohol tolerance, than an 80 kg westerner who only drinks occasionally.

Do a quick google: "Alcohol intolerance" + race, and you will find many scientific articles on the issue of race and alcohol effects.

Some bars have quotas and girls can be penalised if not enough lady drinks for the month. This may not apply at Livingstone's (I have no knowledge) but generally at bars there must be rules to encourage the sales of drinks in a bar or the staff will just get lazy.

It is impossible to control this 100% and same with ladies coming out of change room when they hear the bell being rung or such.

However... for the most part I've seen girls who were already BF'd not partake in drinks when the bell was rung (surprised the heck out of me) and the Sports Bar is a lot better in making sure girls are not ordering drinks without customers knowing it then other bars on 33.

Some of the other "establishments" on 33, and I use that term loosely, are absolutely dangerous when it comes to # of drinks, costs of drinks and who all is drinking on what bill etc...

LL I have no problem with an open check bin, other places on 33 you're best to check and pay after each order or you could find yourself in a sticky situation.

It's not much what I can respond. I think you understood the spirit of Livingstone's quite well, you are doing "your thing" at the moment and Som gives you necessary recommendations and feedback whenever you request it.

Its good to know that LL is a bar where girls are treated well.
This means we can feel more relaxed even if girls must follow some rules.

At one bar (not LL) I would order the drink that the lady wanted for me and a lady drink that suited my taste. I would swap drinks with her and drink the lady drink, as I was abstaining from alcohol anyway.
So by drinking lots of lady drinks I would save her significant fines from her end of month salary, but I would have to drink in her place. She couldn't possibly drink them all and preferred a Heineken (non-lady drink). This would cost me very little but would save her a lot of money. So we deviously rorted the unfair system.

So its always worth knowing at a bar, which drinks are allowed to be lady drinks, how much is the lady commission and how much is the fine if her lady drink quota is short on a per drink basis. Unbelievably, sometimes buying a lady drink can actually benefit her more than a direct cash tip once the maths is done.

Fortunately we need not worry at the Sports Bar and just relax and order whatever we please. I wonder if bar will still be open when I arrive around midnight tonight or all closed up?

Actually my flight is delayed 45 mins+ so I can't see myself getting there in time.

Yes I was lucky. My plane arrived at 23.10. Beat all the others to Imm and was through immediately. Bags had to wait 10 mins. Only 30 mins to LL so was in the bar by 12.15. Grabbed Miss Crystal-Gail quickly in case any of the pesky Ice-Hockey players were taking a liking to her. We need senior members to volunteer to break in the new girls LOL :D
But seriously, I must thank the Hockey players for keeping the bar open late till I got there. :)

Miss New-one was looking hot. Has put on weight where it is really beneficial and so hooked a customer easily. Miss Quacky and Miss Beauty were looking very sexy but I had made my choice already.

Miss T-Rex and a couple of others said they they want me to take them to see the Lesbian Show in SW (Soi Cowboy) tomorrow night, but I promised nothing. How could I do that without bar-fining them all? I don't think theat many can all get a night off work when the bar will be very busy again.
Previously taking Miss J from Sports Bar to see the Lesbian show was how I met super dancer Miss Jar (different Miss J) who has now quit P4P to run a restaurant but remains a regular Gik.

I think ringing the bell is a better and cheaper idea. Besides I don't need too many girls in tow as I have my SW favourites already.

Well the face flushing is just the first stage. To be fair, Asian girls have such a tiny body compared to me, so that one could not expect them to handle too many drinks well.

Thanks for sharing, it's always interesting to me. I know it's a personal thing, and while I always try to learn the market prices and try not to underpay or overpay, I tend to be generous when tipping the girls, well I think I tip reasonably well. Thanks for sharing.

what with all the witches and vampires in the bar last night, is amazing how ugly the girls can become with a bit of makeup.
so you are right, not exactly in their most beautiful for photos form. but those with blood dripping from nose and mouth had a certain morbid fasination for me.
however late in the evening things started to improve with the halloween costumes starting to morph into pool party attire (because that's what the customers wanted lol).
mamasan miss slippery peel got to show off her ample cleavage. miss new-one was rather scantily clad even as a vampire, to get best advantage of her ample cleavage as well. she is rather a wicked one :)

two or three of the top girls were missing, perhaps pre-bfed by special customers. hopefully i will get a chance with sassy miss taiwan another day or maybe should see why superstar miss taxing is so popular (but she probably likes men more young and handsome than me).

last night in ll there were a huge number of guests, the "ice-hockey" players and their gfs.

i was politically a little incorrect by having dinner with ex-mrs g who was looking "really good" and perhaps looked 10 years younger than last time i saw her. she was here with a few others to help out witha temporary staff increase. i played pool with her for a bit since we are both roughly equally rather mediocre.

after thinking that campari was the worst drink ever, 25 years ago, but hearing that giotto likes to drink campari and orange, it was time to re-try. i actually now quite enjoyed a campari and tonic since my taste buds have deteriorated over the years and bitterness now seemed quite moderate. it also has an interesting herbal flavour but a lot better than chatreuse whick is too sickly sweet for the herbs to be enjoyed properly.

decided to disappear for a while while the ice-hockey party was in full swing, as was afraid i would be perving too much on the thai players girlsfriends. several were cute and the odd one rather hot!

got a "double trouble" pair of sw girls back to my room again.
its good to have a deluxe room in the far building out front now as don't have to do the walk of shame past reception and the bar and possibly in front of giotto, auntie g, all the other staff etc. with too young girls in tow (although safely well over 20).

later was back to the bar and miss crystal-gail grabbed ne for her daily english lesson. she has an incredible memory like a steel trap for things i taught her on previous days. i am jealous and wish my memory was still that good.
sometimes i get stuck when i know the meaning of a thai word but struggle to put it into english. not every thai concept has a commonly used easy english equivalent.
last night after several drinks my brain had just got lazy and wouldn't translate properly. i couldn't think out that "noi jai" mean't to feel "hurt" or "peeved".

i think now to try to settle down to about just 2 monger sessions per day.

oh oh! a guest of the hotel has just come down to breakfast. what a dirty old bestard! he is arriving with two girls from sports bar in tow. both miss mild and miss android.

Just as we are not keen on girls who drop the Farang dirty words, Thai girls are usually not that keen to here Farangs using Thai dirty words. So if you learn any, best not to actually speak them.

I have been in trouble for using impolite words words like "ngian(falling tone)" horny, "moi(rising tone)" (pubic hair).

So now I had better include the more polite words that can be actually used:
"mee arom" (have a mood to do something)
"khon(rising) phet(high tone)" (diamond hairs)

You can see that poilte words are usually indirect euphemisms.

Although some of the sports bar girls are "Thaleung" (naughty talk), particularly mamasans and Miss New-One, they still mostly avoid dirty words, and use indirect references, double meanings and ironical or satircal sort of talk.

Other girls like Miss Crystal Gail are not "Thaleung" at all but appear rather innocent.

As I wind down my time at Livingstone's I thought I would provide an update on my impressions of the Lodge.

First, I wanted to make a confession to Mick Licker. I was the "dirty old BESTARD" you saw arriving with TWO girls from sports bar in tow (I accept being called a Bestard, but thought dirty and old was a little over the top. I do shower daily when I am in civilization, haha). However, I will defend the honor of the girls, at the risk of derision and my reputation, and say it was a platonic night of blissful sleep with two wonderful girls (something about turning in bed and seeing a beautiful sweet girl sleeping next to you). In any respect, I hope you are in the bar tonight as I promised you a drink to assuage your jealously.

All of the observations I made on my October 28 report has been validated throughout my stay. It has truly been a remarkable experience that was made even more remarkable by everyone at the lodge, The staff, the girls, Giotto, and of course Som.

As a lark I thought the girls might enjoy a different environment so I took a room for a few nights at the Marriott (using a few of my Marriott points). The Marriott was indeed a remarkable hotel, easily ranking among the best that I have seen in over 40 countries. However, as I alluded in my earlier post, once one sees past the grandeur and the elegance, Livingstone's offers the best value.

The best illustration that I can provide is in the dining experience. One of the evenings I ate at the steak house located at the Marriott. It was a truly elegant dining experience. They offered a variety of steaks made from Angus or Australian beef and I selected the tenderloin, the same Argetine cut I had a few days earlier at the Lodge. There was no discernible difference in the quality of the tenderloin between that which I had eaten at the Lodge and the Marriott. However, in the end, I paid nearly three times more for the privilege of eating in the grandeur of the Marriott. Indeed, I would have to say that the dining in the sedate and relaxed atmosphere by the pool at the lodge more enjoyable than the experience at the Marriott.

The girls at the Lodge continued to be gems. Everyone one sweet and affectionate. Mick Licker can provide much more information regarding many of the girls than I. I settled into a three girl starting rotation, seeing each one of the three girl's on a different evening (there were a few evenings when I took two girls if I knew I just wanted a relaxing evening of cuddling rather than sex).

So many of the girls at the lodge were so sweet and sensual that I was tempted on a number of occasions to bring in a relief pitcher. However, the chemistry I had developed with the three girls was such that I did not want to tempt fate and risk having a less than amazing GFE (from my limited experience the first time you are with someone is usually a little awkward). By the second and third time I have been with each girls, I felt, at least from my perspective, we had developed a lot of chemistry and it made the GFE even more pleasurable.

In this respect, I will always be indebted to Som for her advice and guidance. If not for her, I believe I would have gotten into a very uncomfortable situation and way too close to one of the girls.

I know that people have differing desires and intents on visiting Bangkok. But for me, I could not entertain taking one of the girls at the go-go bars when I had such a find selection of sweet, vivacious, sensuous girls to chose from at the Lodge. The girls had the bars looked bored and I suspect it would be totally hit or miss in finding a gem, that was readily available at the lodge.

Someone had mentioned earlier on the thread that had heard that the cost for "ringing the bell" and buying the girls a round of drinks could cost up to 10,000 Baht. Virtually, every night I have been at the bar I had bought the girls the first round and the total cost never exceeded 2500 - 3500 Baht (and that was buying each girl, regardless of whether they were in the bar at the time, their first drink). Moreover, NEVER I had even remotely felt any pressure by any of the girls to buy them a drink.

I can say without hesitation that the lodge has provided a very safe, comfortable, atmosphere in which one can enjoy a very relaxing experience in the accompany of a group of very sweet, sensual girls. I doubt that you can put a price from the solace of knowing that if you had a problem Som or Giotto would resolve it.

In summation, I feel a sense of sadness that my time is quickly coming to an end. However, I will leave with great memories and as I return for another three month stint of work in an environment bereft of sex, drink, and female companionship. But on a more optimistic note, I can start counting the days when I can take my next vacation and return to the Lodge will be like coming home.

Sure, even if I know some words, I wouldn't use them without knowing the correct context. For some reasons, even the Thai co-workers who speak fluent English at work can't seem to explain the correct usage for the Thai words they teach me, I have been corrected numerous times by someone else.

Actually, I have been browsing around unsuccessfully for some good text book materials to teach a couple of the TG's beginner's conversation English. May be I just compile a bunch of lessons myself, based on a typical conversation or small talks at a soapie or oily. Reading this forum ought to give me plenty to use as well, but that could be a lot of work..:)

Regarding the girls working, I actually have more comfort knowing they are working here than say on the street or in one of the go-go bars. I long ago gave up the notion that I could "save" such girls and am not rich enough to be a sugar daddy. That being said, having had many conversations with girls in numerous other countries, I suspect that very few would enter the profession if the country in which they lived provided them a living wage.

The only issue I take is if someone treats them less than human or denigrates them because of the work they do (ultimately irony is for some prick to be mean to working girl because he thinks the work she does is so demaning, yet she is providing a service he is seeking). They are human beings, and in most respects, very decent, good people whose circumstances warrant they work in the field. Subsequently, I would urge everyone to treat the girls with the respect, if not for them, then out of self-interest because usually if the girl senses you are a decent guy they provide a much higher level of service.

YMMV (Your mileage may vary) is very true.
One customer complained bitterly about a girl being pathetic but I thought she was quite O.K. without being a superstar.

Unfortunately, the answer is "it depends" and I don't even know the answer fully.

The BF in Soi 33 is much higher than other districts on the basis that some of the girls are supposed to be in a higher class which is not always the case LOL.

But there are some pretty girls available and some very popular ones.

Early in the evening, the normal BF at LL is 1500 Baht. Later in the evening (11PM?) it drops to 1000, and very late drops further to 500 Baht, I think. The purpose is to try to retain the girl and the customer in the bar a little longer LOL.

I have no idea the going rates for ST and LT as I pay whatever I think is fair, but above the market rate.
As I am known to be "not tight", girls are often too shy to even discuss the price with me. But for new-comers, it is better to discuss price with a girl to avoid misunderstandings.

The suggested rates for LT appeared to be within the normal range prices in Bangkok (3000-4000).

Good business for the ladies, too, some of them turned themselves to mass service providers, leaving for ST and returning after an hour to find the next customer...

I don't think that anybody really cared about what was going on at Sanam Luang that day.

Delayed my arrival a couple of days because of the mourning period for the Princess, getting in on Saturday afternoon. I'm staying in one of the deluxe rooms facing the pool (#117), and I've found it to be more than satisfactory: quiet, large comfortable bed, aesthetically pleasing. The staff and Guido have been uniformly helpful and professional. I haven't bar-fined anybody from the Sports Bar yet, but that is likely to change in the next couple of days. I have experienced a little sticker shock coming from Angeles, but I'm slowly adjusting! The Sports Bar ladies are a more expensive short-time option than say a two-hour romp at Tulip, but its hard to argue with the convenience factor and the much nicer room setting. On a long-time basis, the deal seems to greatly improve, considering one could easily spend 12+ hours with the lady. The prices I was quoted: barfine 1,500 baht from 6pm to 11, 1,000 after 11pm, and 700 at 1am. Short-time costs 2,000 and long-time 3,000.

This is my first trip to Bangkok, and I'm already plotting my return. A fascinating environment indeed! I will be posting a TR or two soon. The Lodge is in easy walking distance to the BTS and Soi Cowboy, and I've already hoofed it a couple of times as far as Nana and Thong Lo (Tulip), as the weather has been somewhat cool.

Sorry for boring the veterans with this newby summation! And thanks for all the great information.

It's funny how some girls, even some from 33 or girls who used to work on 33 know of the forum. One day a girl asked to see a certain web site of a certain hotel / sports bar property that we all know and love. So I showed her that web site http://www.livingstones.co.th/ , and she said no the site where you guys talk about sex with girls. I of course denied that I knew about such a site since I am pure and innocent.

rooms have cable lan connection and most rooms can receive wireless as well. if by chance you have no lan cable you can borrow one from reception.
in room i use lan cable as its a bit faster still.
out in breakfast area by the pool need to use the high speed wireless.
all internet usage is free! just need the simple password.

no point to compare to mariott as that hotel will much more expensive. a boutique hotel has a totally different feel to it without the "pomp and circumstance".

standard rooms are fine for me. next grade up has larger aircon unit a much larger bathroom and small jacuzzi bath.

i believe next grade up after that has a larger jacuzzi, but i have never been in that sort of room, so giotto best comment.

many girls comment of the artistic style of the rooms.
outside, the hotel has the feel of a tropical island hotel near the beach, even though smack bang in the middle of bkk.

staff are very friendly and , but of course i'm biased as i know them well.

The Sports Bar women that I've known (for more than a night) were pretty sharp. One was especially intuitive, although her advancing age and sense of independence got in the way of her bar girl career. I would say that the Sports Bar ladies are very interested in what the men (aka customers) are saying about them, and what da Boss says, too!

Livingstone's Lodge attracts a lot of first time Thailand mongers. The girls know this and play this to their advantage. Potentially the problem with not being discrete about ISG reports lies with some of the newbies?

Oh the mistake would be to assume they were not sharp... some are very sharp, know all the angles and play it well. Some are college educated and others are just natively intelligent. Intelligent enough to get money and gifts out of us and make us happy to do it. ;)

Girls from our bar sometimes come to me (or Mrs. Giotto) to find out about this "forum" where the guys write about their experiences. We usually then give them the website of our hotel :).

The forum members should really consider the impact of their action if they let the girls read the ISG. But it happens again and again - usually if the relationship between girl and customer intensifies, and the question comes up how this particular customer learnt about Livingstone's.

It's btw. really difficult to deal with some members. I still find myself many times in two standard situations:

- Dinner with Mrs. Giotto, and a customer joins us and starts talking about my Massage Parlour report, wants recommendations. Mrs. Giotto is then definitely happy :( .

Once I took a very ordinary girl a 2nd time thinking that she just needed to relax some more, and I was intent on training her some (I mean in sex). But turned out 2nd time was her period. It was easier in the end just to move on to a girl already a superstar since, with my stay in Thailand being very short, I didn't have the time to put in.

I think that some of the Sports Bar girls are very pretty and give good service in the bar, which is all some guys want or can do, but then some of them are not very good in bed. While LT'ing it with this particular girl, after a lot of foreplay, I spent at least 30+ min on her (DATY), and she barely moved. This has never happened to me before. They all usually finish big. Giotto is still yet to explain to me the difference between Bestards and "Bastards" but perhaps it avoids an automated rejection algorithm. Bastard is a fairly friendly term in Australia, with original meaning completely lost, but not in all countries.

BTW, Mrs G's list of names with pics sometimes gives very little clue of how to pronounce the name correctly, i.e. sometimes the spelling in English is nothing like the correct sound. I would not necessarily know the correct tone for every name and have to ask what is correct way to say it.

I think that Giotto should issue Sport Lounge trading cards for each girl who crosses its ever-friendly threshold and plies her trade in the once-smoky lounge. That way, we punters, (and I use this term loosely), can collect them and trade them much like baseball cards are traded in America. As the girls move on there undoubtedly will be classics, Hall of Famers, Superstars, etc. For long time girls, important statistics, (e.g., # of bar fines, lady drinks, paid trips to Pattaya), can be added as a bonus to new releases.

More practically, as the years pass, it will help us to remember who we made "friends" with and where all our money went. Of course, keeping in the spirit, Giotto will collect a reasonable fee for these cards (+admin, VAT and service charge, of course). ;)

I also understand that the last pool shark in the Bar, apart from Mrs G has also now departed, Miss W so at least 1Ball and T1234 do not have to worry at being beaten at pool any more.

The impact of these developments is much bigger than most people think. And I am surprised again and again, that especially readers of this forum intend to take girls out, more and more from our bar. Readers, who should know the stories of those girls, the way they think, the way they make money. And that the "my one is different" idea is many times - simply wrong.

The impact for us is quite simple and limited to a loss of business. We always lose girls, most of the time the most beautiful and most successful ones. Many of them came directly from the "jungle" and learned a lot here - the way to behave, the way to dress, the way to deal with customers. And once they are fit - they are successful and leave. But this is the smallest impact of all.

The new boyfriends now believe that the girls sit at home and wait for them to return. This is for sure true - in a low percentage of all cases. They also may go to learn "English or Computer" (girls terminology). That is for sure true - in a low percentage of all cases. They also might look for a "real job" in a 7/11, a department store, the restaurant of a friend, a beauty salon - this is for sure true - in a very low percentage of all cases.

In most cases the girl firstly goes back upcountry to see the family - once she has received the initial payment, which is usually higher than the following monthly installments. The girls are impressed and really want to be good girls from that moment on. They stay upcountry for some days / weeks - if they have kids they will take a bit time to stay with their kids.

After a few days / weeks life gets very boring upcountry. The girls are used to the Bangkok night life, action, drinks, pool, fun with other girls, late night discos, good restaurants with customers - and suddenly they stay upcountry, nothing to do at night - boring life. After a while most of the "freed" girls then return to Bangkok/Pattaya/Patong.

Back in Bangkok/Pattaya/Patong they have nothing to do - they stay in their apartments and watch TV, meeting up with their friends after the friends return from - the bars or their customers. Going out late, having a bit more money than their friends, and talking about how lucky they are having their new boyfriends. Step by step they get closer again to their former way of life - the life in a bar.

And then most new boyfriends forget the technical revolution of the past years. Something we use every day - very dangerous tools for this new relationship - the MOBILE and the INTERNET! During their nightlife activities in the bar they gave their numbers and E-Mail accounts to many customers. Again and again those customers return to Bangkok, and want to see that special girl, most likely for the same reason the new boyfriend took her out - they like this girls, and appreciated her service.

Ex-customers send SMS and E-Mails. At the beginning some of the girls might not answer, but if you try it you will notice that a very very very very low percentage of girls will tell their old customers that they have a boyfriend right now and do not work any more. This might happen when they are really married (temple or paper) but not if they just have a new boyfriend. In the beginning they will tell all kind of stories - most likely that they stay upcountry. They usually do not expect that this relationships with the new boyfriend lasts long, and they want to keep the backdoor open - the old customers must be kept warm, to be reactiviated if the boyfriend gets lost somehow.

After a while the girls get horny, no sex for a week is ok, after they had so much paid sex in the bar before - but to have sex sometimes is also not that bad! Now the SMS from this good customer from before comes in - damned, he was 35 years old, and paid good money, and he performed 3 times in the night. That's exactly what she needs! But - that customer cannot come to pick her up at Livingstone's...because the other girls could see her with a man who is not her boyfriend, and all this girls talk, and somehow the boyfriend will hear about it! They cannot take the risk to be seen with another man in Livingstone's.

Livingstone's will not only lose that girl, Livingstone's bar will lose many of the customers which are somehow related to that girl. But - there are exceptions. Customers which are friends of the management. They then return, and we talk, and we hear about what's going on. And the girl herself also needs to talk about the experience, how good it was, and that she makes so much more money than before - and talks to her friend, "but please don't tell anybody!!!", and this friend talks to the next friend and so on and son on, and the information is going around so fast - you might not believe it!

In other cases the girls will book hotel rooms for those old customers in different hotels, and stay with them. They will tell their friends - the upcountry story. But then they are seen somewhere in Bangkok - Bangkok is a village, you won't believe how small the world of those girls is. And how difficult it is to refrain from going to Spice Club late night ... though some of their friends might be there. But of course - they will not talk !!! They are friends.

Besides the impact of the modern technology there is the impact of another factor: The Thai boyfriends! Guys, don't you read this forum? Most (!) of the girls have Thai boyfriends! Let me mention one example: From those 3 girls who were taken out from ISG guys last month 2 have Thai boyfriends. And - guys - please don't send me PMs now and ask me whether your girl has a boyfriend or not.

In the "Standard Thai Boyfriend Case" the help of the new farang "boyfriend" is hightly appreciated - it makes the life easier! The girls can easily stay with their Thai boyfriends now. Those boyfriends usually have no or only a low income. The girl must make most of the money for the "family". Now they have this income - without working!!! Better to have 2, 3, 4, 5 of those farang "boyfriends"!!! Even the Thai boyfriend will agree on that .

The real loser is the farang boyfriend, and many times his family at home! He invests emotions, money, he develops some hope for a somehow better life, he changes his life, things have an impact on his life with his family at home, he even might consider divorce (many times there are even kids), or moving to Thailand ... this stories can destroy the lives of those farang boyfriends!!! Why do you think there are so many stranded bar owners (like me :) ) here in Bangkok, living on small budgets, most of them the best customers in their own bar?

After the story with the new boyfriend is over the girls will usually return to working in a bar, but most of the time to another bar in a different area. As for Livingstone's I can say - many of the girls return to us, because they like this place. And they can easily find customers. Usually they don't return to the bar where they took a customer out.

One of the purposes of this forum is to write about this issues. But obviously the message does not come accross. The percentage of ISG readers who are the victims of exactly this story is surprisingly high.

A waitress told me that she has to share accomodation with many other family members and hangers on, And doesn't even have a refridgerator.

A top Tulip girl might earn 1 million Baht per year. Now that's what I call a "real job". Well rewarded for a good honest hard days work. Its true that many Thai girls don't want to work very hard for very long hours for a pitance.
I know a ThaiYai girl (no Id Card) who was offered a job selling food in a school. Get up at 4AM work to 6PM and receive 150 Baht with no food or drink provided and get treated like shit. She tried this job but I told her to quit (its not worth it). She doesn't want to do P4P but in the end may have no choice (she is only a friend of mine - not GF).

Now many Thai girls like sex. So why not get paid for it too when money is otherwise scarce and massive debts and other problems need to be addressed.

A bargirl can even choose which customers she sucks up to and which ones she shuns. She can decline a customer for any number of reasons if she doesn't like him. Its usually the mamasans pushing girls to go with customers that they are not so keen on.

The Thai culture is very different to our own, so don't expect Thais to act the same as Farangs, when cheating and corruption is the normal way of life in Thailand.
It is very normal for a Thai girl to deny having a boyfriend when we would say that she does have one. This can be like a social game for them. Also its probably considered improper if he hasn't reached "husband" status.

Yes the chances that both girl and guy are being totally honest is not good.

I wish I was there! I'm down in southern Thailand where there is a real civil war. I have a plane ticket to fly to BKK on Dec. 1 to visit my gigs, but I doubt the airport will be open by then. Don't want the girls to wait too long...Maybe I'll take the train from Hat Yai while they're still running (psst, don't tell the PAD).
I am sitting here watching the PAD folks dance on TV at Suvarnabhumi Airport. At least they're having a good time!

Yesterday, I canceled my Dec. 1 Air Asia ticket fearing that the airport (BKK) would either not be open, and/or be seriously damaged by the departing PAD. I then tried to book and purchase a train ticket (almost no seats available) from Trang to Bangkok. I found out that it cannot be done on the phone, only on their website, (and the website was not working). They then suggested I go to Trang in person, (2.5 hours from here), with no guarantee of an available ticket.

Feck it. I decided to just stay home. In the end it cost me 2000 baht to reschedule my flight tickets for next year and cancel my pre-paid hotel reservations. I also had to cancel multiple appointments in Bangkok. My gigs are not going to be happy.

After three years living in Thailand I think it is time to look for new horizons. The Philippines is sounding very good right now, as is returning to America to shore up the eroding home bases.

I know ain't it a shame... my superiors back home don't believe a word I say. Thank god they have CNN and are reporting me more news (or non news) about the situation. They are so fearful for my safety they told me to stay longer if I want.

Let's see, I just got back from chonburi with the TGF and her family... had a dinner cruise the other night... went to dream world... went to ocean world... did tulip many times, am having Tulip scheduled again in fact she's ringing me now... and of course the sports bar with my special meals and the ring or girls that are friends with the TGF especially with ms forbidden fruit and my emmy...

I am just now catching up on my Thailand news and in regards to being a visitor, it is much like I suspected.

Safe to visit but much more difficult (and expensive?) to get to Bangkok and to leave Bangkok.

I am planning my summer travel and certainly hope that I will be able to make it back to Bangkok and stay at Giotto's Lodge as I have past summers.

In my case I have never been away from Thailand for more than 2 years over the last 15 years.

Bangkok is on the way (or the way back) to anywhere, for me and alwyas need a stop over.
I guess BKK is very far from USA, thats one reason why USA is my very last choice for a place to work.

I was wondering if any of the locals on the board know any good honest drivers that speak good english that would be only a phone call away. I don't like using the cabbies because it is too much of a language barrier and I never seem to end up where I want or see what I want and it ends up costing more. Just looking for someone that is honest and that I can comunicate with. I don't mind paying a little more just want a dependable driver. I need drives to Pattaya and to the airport and sightseeing trips around Bangkok and area and to see some back corner bars and massages. Any names or e-mail addresses or phone #s for drivers would be appreciated.

Also if any of you guys are around from Jan 14th to Mar 2 I would love to buy a few round of drinks and listen to some stories. Also looking for some golfing partners for a round or 2 if anybody is interested. I am mainly there though to drink and have fun. For any of you poor bestards that are stuck there with the recent uprisings from the rest of us that arent there Too F___in Bad I am stuck on a rig in the middle of the ocean dodging snow squalls. I think what you give is very fair. Just for a basis of comparison when I was at the lodge I usually was with a girl from the evening to the following afternoon. I gave the girls 4-5000, plus dinner and drinks. We also would usually go shopping (at my request) and I would spend another 2-3000 on gifts for them. So, from my perspective you are paying a fair price. That being said, my first night at the lodge I was advised that 3000 would be more than adequate.

Finally, I could care less what the other guys think is fair or those that complain about guys like us potentially spoiling the market. These are probably the same guys that dont believe in tipping. All of the girls I met were truly nice people and gems and I thought deserved to be treated as such, not as a commodity and piece of meat.

It's my opinion that the payment is up to you. Some guys think that if you pay too much it's doing the monger world a disfavor. Personally, if a woman is making you happy with a GFE why not be generous for a good performance? In these slow times, money is hard to come by for many of these women, and often a portion of it is sent home to their family upcountry, (but not always).

I think that if you are paying for everything extra, (e.g., food, taxis, movies, shopping, etc.), then around 3000 baht a day for LT is an OK rule of thumb. You can always discuss it with the woman before you make the decision (i.e., negotiate), and then if she asks (or settles) for less than what you expect, give her a little extra at the end. It's best to not to leave things too "open ended" money wise or there might be hurt feelings on parting.

Of course, an attractive and seasoned Soi 33 lady, or a bar/massage "superstar," may expect quite a bit more based on her demand equation. If you are on a budget for an extended visit, maybe try mixing a few nights of a LT arrangement with visits to massage parlors, or an excursion to Pattaya (for better prices). Lots of advice on the board about this.

As Fon Tok said before, It is up to you. I don't want to sound like these pompous preaching Assholes but, do what seems right in your heart.

I like to agree on a price from the start so we all know what the benchmark is, then I tip if the service was better than expected. That way, the lady really sees it as a "Tip" (reward for good service). Paying 5k the first night and 3k the others might be confusing to the girls.

There is no science about this. Be honest with the girl, tell her you want to spend 4 nights with her but can only pay her 8k or 10k total (you'd be surprised how many will acept). She won't have to go back to the bar for a few days and is assured a steady income for the next few nights (+ they know that when you BF them for many days, they will get good food and a few gifts from shopping).

Just wanted to commend you for your attitude. Only comment I would make is maybe not to be so hard on the girl who asked you to help her travel to see her child and you suspect did not. Maybe she decided to send the mother to her family in lieu of travel, maybe she planned to travel but something happened. Or, maybe she was just trying to get more money out of you. Bottom line, is you did a generous thing and if she was just trying to exploit you then that is reflective of her lack of character and not your gullibility.

It was never even mentioned in any conversations I had with either girl. It was totally my idea being the nice guy I am. Mr. G told me not to but I did it anyways. I think it is a credit to Giotto and his better half and also Livingstone's in general that they do not have girls working in the Sportsbar that are like that. I am sure that most of the girls there are not and at least none of the girls that I have been fortunate to have spent time with seemed to be like that. They seem to have pretty good morals for the unfair life in which they live.

IMHO Livingstone"s is a great place to stay and hang out and and meet some very lovely girls. My stay would be alot more comfortable if I was a better f-----g pool player. For having my own pool table at home I have to be the worst player on the face of the earth. I have been known to use the hand at times when the ladies aren't looking. I can be a sly devil. Where else though can you go (at least me anyways being as bad a player as what I am) go and get my ass kicked by a bar full of beautiful ladies. I really enjoy it though. They even clap when I make a terrible shot. Quite the moral booster if you ask me. They seem to all want a piece of me. O well I spend my spare time playing hockey and golf. I bet I could take the girls at either one of those 2 sports. Ha Ha.

Good for her and I wish her and her sponser all the best. No hard feelings but I learn't a valuable lesson. These guys might not have let it happen to them but they have seen it many times over. What they say is usally fact and we can learn from them. Just wanted to commend you for your attitude. Only comment I would make is maybe not to be so hard on the girl who asked you to help her travel to see her child and you suspect did not. Maybe she decided to send the mother to her family in lieu of travel, maybe she planned to travel but something happened. Or, maybe she was just trying to get more money out of you. Bottom line, is you did a generous thing and if she was just trying to exploit you then that is reflective of her lack of character and not your gullibility.

I have had similar things happen to me in the past and I just mark it down to experience, but I never let it deter me from doing it again if I feel like helping someone out. Just wanted to clear up the matter of the girls going home to see their kids and families. Neither girl asked me to help them out to go home. It was never even mentioned in any conversations I had with either girl. It was totally my idea being the nice guy I am. Mr. G told me not to but I did it anyways. I find it much easier to tell the girl that I have a long term GF already but are just butterflying. Its much more difficult for the girl to be upset with you and trying to get extra money when you are absolutely straight up with them about the Real GF. I have witnessed many bargirls being upset with some other guy who was pretending to be exclusive to her, but not upset with me, the honest butterfly.

A good line to use (and basically true in my case) is my GF has split from me but I am hoping to get back with her soon.

Oh christ... guys are the ultimate bastards... no question about it. I'm the first one to admit I'm a total bastard as well but I take care of those that take care of me at least. And many of you folks thing I take too good care of the current TGF, spoil her rotten.

I am actually very well taken care of and am very happy with the current TGF, over 1 year now. And the problems we had can be traced back to me being a devious bastard (does not excuse the problems but I can see where I was at fault also) but atleast we've sorted things out and are still together.

Well not for a few years - I can still remember a couple of not so desirable girls I had to secretly do a runner from in my past. Strangely one of them still didn't hate me when we accidentally met several years later. She had adjusted the memory to be that she dumped me. Just back from what was supposed to be a short stay but thanks to PAD I had an extension of time to sit back and relax and enjoy BKK. The govt. was so kind they even offered to pay our room and meals for us.

The lodge is still one of my favorite places to go, the staff remembers who you are, what you eat and drink and remember you by name. A real home away from home, one that I am very comfortable in. I spent a few nights in the bar but with a current TGF could not sample any of the girls in the bar and unfortunately many of the girls I did know have moved on with sponsors or back home or such. And if I tried to entertain any new girl, with the TGF there well that would be a recipe for disaster. But there are still some girls from the past that are good friends and are enjoyable company.

Not much I saw was changed except that as soon as the airport opened up the punters started to fly back in. I'm sure the lodge took a hit during the time of the protest but the larger chain hotels and the ones with less following will have a hard time getting through the disaster. But LL should weather it reasonably well.

Giotto was under the weather, not sure if it was flu or the headaches of having 30 girls in his life but hope he gets back in shape soon. I tried to get him to go out one night but he shrank away from that, I will try when I come back in about 23 days. If I'm gonna get in trouble I will make sure he gets in trouble also :)

Talked to a friend today, who had a meeting with the general manager of the Shangri-La hotel yesterday. Occupency in Shangri-La: 7 %. In words: seven. Oh my god. That's really bad. Before I heard already about Sheraton Sukhumvit, occupancy arround 30 %.

Let's wait how all this ends up. But it gets more scary every day.

Giotto: As always, I enjoyed my recent meals at LL. My new gig liked it a lot, too. They spiced up the som tam for her to the point where the table was catching fire. How do these girls do it?

I did notice a lot of pretty new faces and nice bodies in the Sports Bar. Now that my favorite has moved on to a new career in hair styling (so she says), I can begin my search for a new sporting partner soon.

I thought I saw a tumbleweed on the motorway yesterday on the way to the airport.

Once at Suvarnabhumi I was informed that my 1:50 pm Air Asia flight to Krabi was canceled, (no e-mail or SMS). No information as to why, of course, but I suspect it was for lack of passengers. I then had to wait five hours for the next flight (which was about 3/4ths full). On the schedule board I noticed a number of domestic flights had been canceled. Somehow, by the grace of the travel gods I was back on Koh Lanta by 9 pm. Amazing Thailand!

Suvarnabhumi, the world's 18th busiest airport, was eerily quiet for December 10. In fact, I saw many more workers than travelers. Not even lines at the check-in counters. There was no indication of the PAD takeover except for the dozen or so policemen sitting (sleeping?) under a tent at a checkpoint about 2km from the terminal. I wonder why they even bother to carry guns?

Thailand is looking a lot more like Mexico every day. At the big motorway turn leading to the terminal I noticed that one of the biggest highway billboards is now blank, and the big flat screen TV ads are fading quickly.

Two nights ago at about 9 pm, I joined some friends at the Sofitel Silom Hotel for a drink at the Vbar. There was no one other than employees in the hotel lobby when we walked in, and just a few folks in the bar. Great views of Bangkok from 37 floors above Silom Rd. Later on, we went to the Cleo Beer Bar on Patpong Soi 2 (right outside the Star of Light). Cleo turned out to be way more fun than the Sofitel (and the drinks were a lot cheaper). They've got a few cute & friendly young girls there and the bar fine for Isaan's finest is only 400 baht (Cheap Charlie alert!). If you get bored, SOL is right next door.

Late Saturday afternoon, I stopped by my favorite Silom Road massage shop, "Happy Massage," next to the deserted Narai Hotel. There were 10 girls working and so far that day there had been no customers. Before climbing to the 4th floor for my regular FS massage, (btw, I love Thailand), I gave Khun Net, (my favorite Happy massage practitioner), 500 baht to buy the shop girls dinner. That way, to my relief, everyone was now theoretically happy and im lao (full), at least until the next meal!

What will January be like? Elections? Foreigner Kidnappings? Food riots? Lower prices???

Seams to me that the recession has reached this part of the world, too. The hotels - usually it is really difficult to get a room during the time around Christmas - quite empty, and cheap! OT filled up with hundreds of service providers, from all parts of the world: Koreans (!), Hongkong ladies, Mongolians, Vietnamese, Cambodians, Russians, Philippinas - and only very few Thais. For my taste all business activities are much too pushy there, the style has completely changed in the past few years.

Returning to Bangkok - Changhi Airport not too busy, but then the Bangkok airport dead empty - I could walk through at the immigration, without waiting a single minute. Unbelievable.

I am in the planning stage of making my rookie trip to Bangkok around January 14-16 and staying for 5 days at Livingston's. I wanted to know if there was anything special going on in Bangkok around those dates that might affect my travel plans. Any Festivals or National Holidays?

I have RTFF and I noticed that you have a few Lodge Discounts for ISG members, but they seem to have expired. Are the offers no longer available or have the conditions changed in any way?

Are your room safes laptop friendly? Do you offer wireless in each room or only in the lobby-bar area?

What is the 10% service charge and 7% VAT, and is this a standard charge that is Bangkok wide or just an exclusive charge at the Lodge and is this fee only applicable to room rates or do you charge this fee for meals and drinks?

I plan on staying at Livington's, but I am curious. If you were fully booked up for the dates I would be in Bangkok, what other Hotel(s) would you recommend? I am not that fussy but a good clean well located, medium-priced range hotel is fine to me.

Merry Christmas to all of course... all the ISG members we've hung out with over the year and wishing everyone a safe and happy new year. I am hoping to be there in about a week from now.

Times will be difficult in everyone's home this year and probably limit the amount of time some of us can enjoy the Lodge this up coming year. But I hope we all make it through with good health.

I say... if my work was easy then everyone would be doing it and I would not have a job.

I am in the planning stage of making my rookie trip to Bangkok around January 14-16 and staying for 5 days at Livingston's. I wanted to know if there was anything special going on in Bangkok around those dates that might affect my travel plans. Any Festivals or National Holidays?

I have RTFF and I noticed that you have a few Lodge Discounts for ISG members, but they seem to have expired. Are the offers no longer available or have the conditions changed in any way?

Are your room safes laptop friendly? Do you offer wireless in each room or only in the lobby-bar area?

What is the 10% service charge and 7% VAT, and is this a standard charge that is Bangkok wide or just an exclusive charge at the Lodge and is this fee only applicable to room rates or do you charge this fee for meals and drinks?

I plan on staying at Livington's, but I am curious. If you were fully booked up for the dates I would be in Bangkok, what other Hotel(s) would you recommend? I am not that fussy but a good clean well located, medium-priced range hotel is fine to me.

Let me go through your questions:

- High season in January (should be), but no special events, no holidays, festivals
- ISG Discounts available, contact me per PM after you wrote your report
- Room safes in general laptop friendly, except you have one of the giant ones
- Wireless available in all rooms, if the signal is week you can use a cable in the rooms, that's faster anyway
- 10 % Service Charge is standard in Thailand (service charge is standard in Asia)
- 7 % VAT has to be charged by law (tax)
- We are not fully booked [yet], and it does not look as if we were soon
- Alternatively: There is NO other place like Livingstone's :), but some other hotels are mentioned in the Hotel thread. S15 might be an option, or Majestics Suites.

I think that the Product at Livingstones is good, comfortable & practical but as Giotto said, there are also a few good hotels that offer similar style accomodation (same price range).

What is invaluable about Livingstones is that for Someone from ISG, you can sit down with the owner (or meet forum members) adn discuss your Hobby freely. Ask for advice and talk about pretty much Everything "Thailand".

Can you do this in any other hotel in Bangkok? No way!

Actually my post was about the fact that Livingstones, on top of being a great product, was UNIQUE in the sense that people like us (readers of ISG) can feel at home, proud of our hobby and not shy to talk about it openly with you and other guests. :)

Giotto will have some better advice than me, but I'll chip in what I know since I was there a few weeks ago. Soi Cowboy and Nana plaza will be closing by the time you guys get settled into LL, but there will be plenty of girls around. The quality of girls generally gets worse as the evening progresses though. I also don't know if you guys are young or old, like to be wild or are more level headed, so I'll throw out a variety of options for you to consider and look further into.

If all you want is a shower, a massage and some full service before bed, you can get that at Jack & Betty's. Facing away from LL's entrance, the sign for it is across the street and to the right (perhaps 100 meters). They'll let you in if you get there by 1AM. They might have 4-5 girls available. There are other places that will send a girl to the hotel if you call ahead and make reservations.

For a drink and maybe a bargirl, theres Renoir across the street. They're open til 2AM. Personally, I didn't care for it that much. Girls aren't that attractive (to me).

Spice Club is close by and open til late in the morning. It's an after hours club with loud music, alcohol and plenty of freelancers and part timers looking to score. Any cabbie should know where it is. It's ridiculously easy to hook up. Just find a table for yourselves and take turns walking a circuit around the place. A girl will usually latch on to you before you finish your loop.

There are a couple of other after hours places you can go to as well that's quieter. Do a little research on the Thailand boards and you should be able to get some good information.

If worse comes to worse, you can always walk down Sukhumvit towards Nana and the infamous parking lot there. Plenty of streetwalkers along the way too. Just watch out for the ladyboys and DEFINITELY use protection.

Enjoy your time. Be polite. Keep an open mind, but don't let your brains fall out.

You can also let Giotto or Auntie know you are arriving later and ask if some girls might stick around. At least in the past, some girls were happy to hang around a little longer then normal if they knew folks were coming in. But maybe things have changed.

And with the current situation I would expect at that hour the transit time from landing to the Lodge to be pretty fast... easy immigration, easy traffic, etc... So I doubt they'd be too late getting into the lodge.

Of course, New Year Party on the 31.12.2008, directly then changing into a staff party. That means that all customers get drunk first, together with the girls, and then the staff gets drunk too. Finally a huge orgie and total chaos.

A great time to land at Suwanaphuum is 5.30 AM. Straight through Immigration, wait 10 mins, arrive at hte Lodge 6.30 AM just missing the start of traffic jams. In my room for a shower and more sleep by 6.40AM to build up some energy for first Tulip session.
Had to postpone till 3PM, so could catch the very busy Nic for a chat first. Otherwise could have gone to Tulip with Centaurus. Nic was still at the lodge chatting to a Scot when I got back and was suprised my legs weren't even wobbly. I have been trying to build just a little fitness to be able to cope with sessions with the famous "Sexbomb" at Tulip.

Later had my favourite Yellow Curry Prawns for dinner with a sports bar companion, rang the bell, and supplied Belgium chocolates to "sweeten" up the girls ;)
Lost the pool game as usual but only 3:2.

26th Morning - Was picked up by the Lodge Limo, not my first time to Bangkok but my FIRST time to the carefully hidden Oasis one one of what must be the busy streets in Suk. nice room and supper clean too (I dislike rooms that have smells, even of polish), and Super fiendly staff too.
Quick rest and then off to Soi 26 ended up in one of the Massage parlors since it was quite early I guess there were not more than a couple of ladies, I chose the one who came to greet me who was in my opinion quite pleasant, she showed me the photo album however since I had alredy made up my mind I told her it would not be necessary that I chose her, Selected the 400Bhat Oil massage, once in the room after the preliminary wash lay down for an excellent massage followed by ad simply nice body to body massage as a appetizer and the main course of what I felt was a really good tit fuck. She wanted 500Bhat paid her an additional tip of 300 for the excellant service. Her name was Ann, but I am not sure of the name of the parlour but it was next to the one called Honey massage.

26th Evening

Took a stroll down Soi 33 , ended up in Dream Heaven, and the reports were right, they do have some of the cutest girls once again went for he 500 Bhat Oil massage, (this sort of keeps my options open and I could walk away with only a HJ if we did not feel comfortable), But I soon saw that this was not to be the case this girl was service oriented plus, could not understand much english but once she had me by the balls (not literally) she said 2000 I was not much in control at this time and agreed what followed was again a really great session much better than the first. The girls name was Ya absolutly service oriented I think, later I figured that she must have included her tip in her price of 2000 but I didn't mind as she was happy and I was happy.

Good to hear! Yok is a rare and special girl. The problem with having such a great time with her (if you can call it a problem) is that all the girls that come immediately after her all tend to be starfishes in comparison.
