Just two days ago I walked from Ploschad Rev. metro station to Karma Bar, which is about a 15 minute walk straight through downtown Moscow and got stopped by the militia twice. My docs were OK, but especially the second time the militia guy really was trying to get some cash out of me.

I don't know why, but around Lubyanka it's always a mess with real militia guys and pretend-to-be ones.

Expecially in the underpass under Lubyanka square. Now I don't use it any more, if I'm on foot and I have to cross I prefer to risk my life and do it on the street.

Another terrible place (with regard to bribe pledgers) is the underpass between Kurski vokzal and Chesterfield. But I'm sure you already noticed it :)

You are right about Lubyanka.

It is strange regarding the militia. I've been stopped a lot, but I also get around a lot. When stopped outside of town, sometimes even out beyond the last metro stops, I've never had problems. It is almost like the militia out there is more honest. I doubt that, but that has been my experience.

In town the problem areas for me are around Lubyanka, Red Square, Kuznetzky Most and Smolenskaya metro (just off of old Arbat). But you are absolutely right, the Lubyanka area is the worst. Almost like they are into keeping up old KGB traditions... other bad areas are just on the outside of tochkas, but this is usually more trouble for your girl than for you.

Read something interesting in the paper. An average traffic policeman makes 2000 rubles a month, about $68. Officially. A good traffic cop in a popular place where he can stop a lot of cars for Techosmotr "motor inspection" etc. can make hundreds or even thousands a month in bribes. Seriously. Supposedly the traffic cops rights to stop cars are being reduced now, but I'm sure the clever bastards will find another way to earn a little on the side. As annoying as it is, I can't really blame them given Russia's cutthroat capitalist culture. Every man, woman and child for himself.

The Kursky Voksal-CF underpass has never been a problem for me, there are usually only street kids there begging for a couple of rubles and some cigarettes. I'll be careful though.

As far as going to clubs in the center, if I'm not in a group, I am going to adopt a taxi-only policy. Even though it doesn't happen too often, I'm sick of paying the bribes, as minor as the might be. The cops are actually quite friendly and jovial, but their little games are an annoyance.

One night/almost morning I stopped a car driven by a Azeri man. He was furious because (he explained) after a night of work with the Zhiguli a drunk policeman driving a BMW literally chased him (when he saw his dark face) and forced him to stop the car. Then asked for documents and said there were problems. Azeri man did't want to pay the "shtraf" and the policeman got really angry, threatened him to keep his documents and do other nasty things. Eventually the azeri man emptied the wallet and the pockets and was allowed to leave. Total damage, in his words, around 700 rubles. Not bad for 10 minutes of work (of the policeman!)

Let me add my dva rublie to the militia discussion... two nights ago, I went to my friendly tochka near CF and not finding what I'd hope to, I walked to the next tochka which is back off the garden ring about a 7-10 minute walk. Found a cute young blond and proceeded to leave the alley with the girl. Immediately saw a militia car drive by in front of me and I asked the girl if her papers were OK and she said da. The car, which was primarily blue instead of the normal white, kept going and we kept walking. The blue car passed us on two other occasions with no problems and then finally almost back to the ring, they stopped and waited for us to get to them. They barely even looked at my passport/visa, and immediately found a "problem" with the girls papers and quickly put her in the car. I attempted to get them to quote a "fine" for the girl so I could be on my way.

Finally after much hassle they said... "100 dollars". I laughed and told them goodbye and started to walk off... They then asked quickly how much I would pay and I told them 500 rubles. They said nyet and off I went... They drove off and stopped again and we negotiated, but couldn't come up with an agreeable number. Like doc skank, I'm getting tired of the hassle with the bribes.

So, I went back to the 1st tochka and left with a girl that I almost picked on the first pass.

SO, the moral of my story is that if I visit tochkas, with the exception of my favorite near CF, I will always take a car so that I can get the hell out of there fast and not be exposed for the long time it takes to walk to the ring for a car. Of course, I would still feel comfortable walking to the lineup near the Marriott Grand if I was staying there because it is relatively close, but these two are rare exceptions.

Glad to get your dwe rublie on that never-ending subject... the militia is on of those things that make Russia more "interesting".

I've got a question for all. When at CF last time, I spoke to a girl named Olga who had just returned from a summer in Spain, where she was working a resort area in Malaga, drawing $300 a night from rich Russians. Those guys must have been insane, because she was a 6 tops, with an admittedly good body, but nothing to write the WSG about. So I won't.

But she did bring up something interesting. First of all she offered me the laughable "special price" of $150 and I refused. After realizing I was not going to be a customer, she wanted 100 rubles for her time. I told her that was ridiculous, as CF was a bar and not a strip club. For 100 rubles the least she could do was give me a lap dance ala Safari Lodge and rub her tits in my face. She wasn't particularly amused by my comment, but she was kind of a suka so I didn't care. But this is the interesting part, she claimed she had to pay 100 rubles to security to get in, nothing more.

So what are the rates at CF, NF and elsewhere?

I think we agreed that tochka girls get about 43% of the take after all deductions for mamachka, the pimp and security etc.

What do NF girls have to pay as entrance? The normal entrance fee? I've heard varying reports, ranging from "nothing" to $50 and up... The last girl I asked about this at NF said she didn't pay anything and got to keep the whole wad.

Do CF girls have to pay just 100 rubles, or anything at all?

Any insight would be appreciated.

doc... interesting comment. They do have to pay, officially, on F/S nights. However, I've heard rumblings that the CF security has been shaking down the girls for money and this may be what she's talking about. I also know that CF is attempting to get this practice stopped by the appointment of a new expat security czar on the weekends.

RE: NF... my friend who has a regular "girlfriend" at NF says that she says that they pay the full 650 rubles for entrance. However, I'm not completely sure that is a solid source.

NF: Like you, my understanding was that they have to pay the normal 650 ruble entry fee as well, but maybe it varies depending on the girl. The girl who told me she paid nothing also bragged about buying a Mercedes with her income there... so she must be a regular. So let's guess that most pay about $20 to get in and maybe some girls pay nothing?

Perhaps it is a mute point, but I am always just curious what take the girls actually get. Put's their effort and subsequent performance into perspective...especially when the girls get outlandish presents from guys who feel sorry for the "poor" girls. In candid moments the girls will tell you some pretty funny stories.

Nothing against giving a girl a present, I've done it too on occasion and that is a personal matter between the client and "service employee", I just like to look behind the scenes and see how the girls are living. In 2001 I was staying at the Royal Marriott. At 2am I couldn't sleep so I deceided to go for a walk up Tverskaya street.

It was my first time in Moscow so I was still a bit worried about getting mugged. So I left my passport and papers in my room and only took 100 rubles with me.

When I wlked through an underpassage to cross the street I encountered 8 police men. They asked me for my passport and of course I could only show them my room card from the Marriott.

They kept shouting 'passport!!' at me... then they tried to take me away, but I refused. (I was getting pretty nervous at this time) I offered them to come with me to my hotel so that I could show them my papers. Of course they kept on shouting 'passport!!!'.

Then I figured they wanted money from me, but I didn't want to offer them any, cause technically that's also something they can arrest me for.

So what I did was pull out my wallet and showed them that I also had no passport in there. When they saw I only had 100 rubles in there...they simply let me go.

It was a very nervewrecking 5 minutes, and I know now that I was extremely lucky to get away like that.

So the lesson of this story is: ALWAYS bring you passport with you. And NEVER put too much cash money in your wallet.

That was my 2 cents about the Moscow Police.

Thanks for the corrections and your comment on the "rude" version of the ass translation.

I also know a lot of the really rude words like "pizda" etc., but obviously one should be careful. As a non-native it is difficult to judge the "strength" or relevant meaning of the words culturally. Like in English with the word "fuck"... it can be used harmlessly or in fun but can also really [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) somebody off or insult somebody if used improperly.

To be safe, I like to ask girls about their body parts and their names. It is a good fun exploring game. Generally speaking, I find the girls, both "normal" girls and p4p girls, to be very playful. Phonetic translations of Cyrillic are always fascinating. Of course, it's impossible to translate literally from Cyrillic, since there are sounds that don't exist in the Roman alphabet.

The "H" in Russian is basically an English "H", but it is more gutteral. It comes from further down in the throat, kind of like you're coughing up something, but not quite that extreme. So, "I want" is more like ha-CHOO, than chochu, or khachu.

One of the most important words a monger will need is "sKOIL-ka", which means "how much". And you should, of course, verify the currency involved by asking "po dohllar-ov", in dollars? Or "po roob-lyea", in rubles? And, of course, you will want to take your dyevooshka back to the "gos-TEEN-itsa", hotel. The accusative would be "gos-TEEN-itsoo". "Let's go back to the hotel," would be "pai-DYOHM gos-TEEN-itsoo".

Instead of praising her body parts individually, you might want to tell her "ti kra-SAV-eetsa", which is kind of like the epitome of feminine pulchritude. If she really likes the way you look, she might call you a "kra-SAV-chik", the male version. Or she might just be making fun of you.

And of course, you should be able to count:

Moscow moots metro kissing ban -

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Couples caught kissing on Moscow's underground rail system could be fined under new regulations being considered by city authorities while those going too far could face jail, a newspaper's website says.

The kissing ban could even extend to a husband embracing his wife, Stolichnaya Vechernyaya Gazeta said on its website. The newspaper, quoting unnamed sources, said the city authorities were thinking of introducing the ban to raise levels of public morality.

"From the New Year citizens kissing and embracing publicly will be fined," it said. "Particularly blatant cases could even lead to a spell of temporary detention in jail," it added.

It quoted a city education official, Tatyana Maksimova, as saying metro travellers were indulging in increasingly lax behaviour including drinking alcohol from bottles and cans. "Our children are getting love lessons all day long from what they see around them," Maksimova said.

Moscow police would not comment on the report.

Yipes! I love kissing in the metro and especially in metro stations, they can be really romantic. One of my favorite romantic tricks is to be kissing my girl of choice while sitting on a bench waiting for the train. The train comes and she tries to get up and I don't allow her, saying that I have too much passion for her and ignore the train. The girls love it. And since the next train is only a couple of minutes away, this 3 minutes of extra wait can pay off big time later if you get your girl in the mood.

Getting ready for the trip and noticed the mentions of being sure to carry your passport for the local militia. From experience, the best thing to do is to make a xerox copy of the photo and information page of your passport as well as your visa page. This will suffice for the police if all they want is your documents. This tip works in most countries and keeps your most valuable document away from the hands of pickpockets and thugs.

They allow me to upload a copy of the passport/visa to be kept online. I also keep traveler's check numbers and phone numbers of where to go to replace my Master Card if lost on a trip.

Sorry to hear about Lena, but you really never know if the girl is going to go cold. I think there are a number of factors that determine whether or not a girl will perform well or not, but it is difficult to tell. Everybody gets a dud now and then. In my experience sometimes it was her fault and sometimes it was mine.
In your case it sounds like she just neede to make another car payment and was punching the timecard. I really hate it when that happens, but I guess it is part of the game.

Your advice about the Exile is right on. It was actually my first introduction to Moscow club culture, luckily I discovered it by accident before my first trip there a few years back. The club guide is a MUST for anyone looking to get around town a bit and try out a few places. I don't always agree on their "fahkie factor" rating though... poor me couldn't score at the fahkie factor 3 Real McCoy!

I have friends that will score every time that they walk into the Pyramid and I've never had the pleasure... likewise at NF, until this past bad experience, I have chosen not to partake... Of course, NF is an F5 if there ever was one and I don't think that Pyramid is even ranked. The moral of the story... you make your own Fahkie Factor where ever you go!

ogman/jb2K... I would agree with you in most countries that a copy of your passport and visa will be adequate. HOWEVER, I must humbly disagree if you are in Moscow/Russia. Most of the time, you will probably be OK with a copy, especially if it is notarized in Russian as an authentic copy, but if you don't speak Russian and you happen to get a jerk like I did on my last trip, I suspect that you are in for a negotiation session with a significant ruble exchange to get out of the situation. I may be wrong, but personally I will not take the chance.

Of course, I would never recommend that you carry your wallet or passport in your back pocket. You must take special steps to ensure it's safety.

I think the fahkie factors reflect the reality only to a certain degree. I guess these clubs are paying Exile to get those high factors. I'm sure there is some sort of an arrangement. Clubs such as Voodoo and Dirty Dancing have three factors for instance, nevertheless in my experience it was much easier to score at Karma which is has only two and strange enough I had never success at Voodoo. So I agree with CA Traveler.

No Fahkie 3 has not been a guarantee for success. Actually, when I have the feeling I am definitely gonna score in some fahkie 3 joint, I rarely do. My last "sure thing" left me out past the last metro station on the blue line at 4 am on a lonely street hitching a ride back into town. Very lucky to not have become a statistic I suppose. My success rate in the fahkie 1s and 2s is better. It is always better to have a wingman with you, alone you look as desparately horny as you actually are.

Where I have had the most luck for so-called freebies:

1) work contacts (careful careful)
2) the street
3) expat bars and discos like Karma Bar and Chesterfields
4) the internet
5) prostitute discos like Bells and Cabana
6) employees of cafes, hotels etc.

IMHO if you can get her into a one on one conversation that lasts longer than 10 minutes you will likely score within 2 dates. Often it'll take longer to get rid of them than it did to get them in the first place.

Have you ever been to Sexton? It's way out of town and I went with three girls that work at one of the TV stations, but the night we were there it was dead because it was way too early. Looked like it had potential though.

Just an aside... I think that if you are a reasonably decent dancer, I think you can get laid at almost any bar/disco with dancing. I'm constantly amazed by what happens when a Western male starts dancing alone, I've dubbed it as trolling. At CF, I find that, even at my advancing age, on Mondays/Wednesdays/Thursdays I will typically draw 4 or 5 new girls to the dance floor AND grouped around me by just getting out there and shaking up a little. From that point, it's up to you, but I think it can be a real opportunity. this year russians and foreigners can go abroad with more foreign currency cash than fits comfortably in the average wallet, and no risk of confirep001ion at customs. new rules, which are the most liberal in soviet and post-soviet history, have been applied at customs checkpoints since march, when an amendment to the law on currency regulation and control came into force.

cash sums of up to $10,000 can now be carried out of russia by writing the sum into a simple declaration, which is handed to customs at the airport or border crossing. sums of up to $3,000 do not even have to be declared. sergei amelchenko, deputy head of the press office at the state customs committee, said that declaration of sums from $3,000 to $10,000 is purely for statistical records, and forgetful travelers who are caught with no customs declaration could expect indulgence.

"if someone is found to be carrying up to $10,000 without a declaration, he can simply agree with the customs officer what the sum is and fill out a declaration accordingly," amelchenko said.

however, margarita petrova, a lawyer with the moscow legal firm vash peverenny pointed out that the law permits a fine of 50 percent to 200 percent of the value of whatever should have been declared and/or its confirep001ion. applied to cash, that is a maximum loss of $30,000, which could be avoided by spending 30 seconds filling out a customs form.

people who regularly come and go from russia should also know the rules for carrying rubles across the border. a 1996 central bank letter with legal status sets a limit for cash ruble export by individuals at 500 times the average minimum monthly wage, which is currently calculated as 100 rubles.

the new rules for travelers with hard currency cash ended a particularly dark period for foreigners. from 1999 to 2003, nonresidents could not take out any foreign currency cash unless they had a stamped declaration to prove they brought it in themselves or a form to prove that it was transferred from abroad and paid out to them at a russian bank.

"i used to go out with zero money, and i couldn't even make a phone call till i got to an atm abroad, so it was part of my planning when i got to amsterdam or new york either to find a machine at the airport or find a cab driver who would trust me for the ride to town," said gerald gaige, real estate partner at ernst & young in moscow.

atms made the old cash-carrying rules absurd as a means of currency control, since money held on hard currency bank accounts in russia could be freely withdrawn abroad using a plastic card without even breaking russian law.

"legislation on the issue and use of bank cards sets no limits on cash sums that can be withdrawn using such cards," petrova said.

nevertheless, customs officers were serious about enforcement. gaige, who has been based in russia for 10 years, said that he was asked to show the content of his wallet and pockets at customs on three occasions in that time, leaving the country about eight times a year.

the previous system was also discriminatory, since russians were allowed to take out $500 and then later $1,500 without any documentation to justify ownership of the sum. that inequality is now a thing of the past.

"residents and nonresident individuals now have absolutely equal rights as regards import and export of foreign currency cash," scc's amelchenko said.

travelers who need to carry more than $10,000 in cash should beware: the only acceptable justification is a stamped customs declaration showing that the money was previously carried into russia in cash. however, the stamped declaration is only needed to account for any sum in excess of the $10,000 threshold.

according to the deputy chairman of the state duma budget committee mikhail zadornov, interviewed by ekho moskvy in october, central bank statistics show that sums under $3,000 represent about 80 percent of all cash currency being carried out of russia.

the old system encouraged travelers to tempt fate by sneaking a few hundred extra dollars past customs. a law school graduate, who asked not to be named, was stopped at sheremetyevo customs last year with a friend who was carrying $2,500 and lacked necessary documentation. (the limit then was $1,500.)

"we offered 10 percent of the total sum to the officer and nothing more said, but he wanted a third, which was greedy, so we refused and they confirep001ed the whole lot, saying that we had to pay a 100 percent fine for the excess," she said.

the graduate badgered sheremetyevo customs until they provided paperwork to justify the confirep001ion, and then used her legal training to find fault with the papers in court, eventually getting the whole $2,500 back.

"they tangled with the wrong girl," she said.

Wow, you've done very well at CF!

Bells is a "normal" disco, but like many other "normal" discos such as Cabana or Papa John's there are usually a few hos working. Generally they will be in groups and have a mamachka watching over things. It isn't a great place, but a nice change of pace if you get into a CF rut. Cabana is kind of my secret place to go as an alternative to CF. Prices run higher, but are negotiable to CF levels if you are willing to settle for a couple of hours vs. all night.

Haven't heard of Sexton. The "out of town" discos seem to have great potential to score freebies at, but I recommend anyone trying that to go with a friend. I've been to a few, but almost always with a GF. There was always plenty of eye contact with other girls though and they are still impressed to meet Westerners. I suggest a little caution though, as the local matadors can be protective of their local clam. I have almost never encountered too much flak of this kind, but as everywhere the loal boys keep an eye on strangers. In larger discos this is no problem as everyone is a stranger, but I have found that in the local smaller places there is a local crowd where everybody knows everybody.

Actually, we really ought to organize a WSG disco trolling adventure!

As for dancing, you are right on, it definitely ups your appeal to the dyevs.

I would definitely agree that you should go with friends to all of the more obscure locations. Of course, that doesn't guarantee that you won't get slammed if you hit on the wrong dyvushka.

I've only been to Cabana only once and it was too early to get much of an idea of it's potential. I've heard that it's the place to be on a Tuesday.

I find that Sunday and Mondays are usually good at CF. Also, Thursdays at CF are very hot especially when they run the "Ladies Night" specials with free booze for the girls. Wednesday night is ExPat night until 2100 but there are usually a lot of girls there that work for Western companies and they usually stay. Tuesdays at CF are the worst and not worth the time to check out.

Like you, Friday and Saturday at CF are too packed for comfort.

I've been to Slava and I can tell you that it's a great club, but it's also the loudest disco with a throbbing Euro techno beat that I've ever seen. Beautiful girls, but a relatively long way outside the center. It is a very long way from the closest metro stop, yellow line I think, so plan to get a car if you ride the metro to the closest stop.

Good things about Hotel Rossia:

It's cheap and well-located and has in-house working girls like almost all Russian hotels of any size.

Bad things about Hotel Rossia:

It isn't girl friendly and has watchdog security that you will not be able to fool. They'd ask your grandmother for ID before letting her up to your room.

Haven't been there in a couple of years, I suggest scanning old posts for info (use the forum search function). A couple of guys posted on Rossia several months back with mixed reports, but it sounded like there were a couple of decent options for in house girls and massages.

When at CF you can always ask the girls if they can go back to Rossia, if there is a way ($$$) they'll know it.

NYM... Tempting as it is... I think you made the right decision. Of course, if I'd been in your position, I can't guarantee that it's the decision that I would have made, but who knows it could have saved your life.

CT... I know it's too late, but unless you are locked into a Russian hotel by your company, I would stay as far away from them as possible. The Marriotts and the Renaissance are worth the extra money if you plan to have guests and, personally, I love the apartments simply because you have total privacy. Of course, I understand that on a first visit, it can be a little intimidating.

arbat/doc... Looks like I've got to put Cabana on my schedule for my next Moscow visit.

MM... Sounds like a good plan, but it's a pretty full agenda for 2 days (hopefully, nights). Just a souple of suggestions... Moscow is a VERY late night town, but you can start your evening at NF with dinner and then check out the girls all before everything else gets started. Tochkas are not too difficult, but it is difficult to say which is the "best". Also, depending on the nights, don't forget CF as a great dance spot, especially Thursday. (see doc's analysis below)

Ca_T is right, you won't be able to do everything in 2 days.

I think NF is a must for any newcomer, and if you want to save $20 go there for a LATE dinner to save entrance fee (be sure to tell the security guys you are going to the restaurant and a girl will guide you upstairs), going down to the bar/disco after dinner at about 11-12 p.m. Going earlier isn't worth it, in fact the best time to go to the bar is around midnight.

Warning: You WILL be tempted to take one of the girls! :) If $200-300/night is in your budget then this may be a best choice for opening night. Bargain down to $150-200 though. Should be possible unless the place is totally packed.

Best strip club? Very subjective question, there are a lot of really good ones but an excellent affordable one is Safari Lodge. And you can do the deed on premises, which isn't common for a strip club. A strip club is also a must for a first timer, although I rarely go anymore as you can easily drop $100 there that would be better spent buying a girl somehwere else, but the the sheer volume of gorgeous babes is overwhelming. If you go to another club like Rasputin, Dolls etc. I don't recommend having a "private dance"...it'll cost as much as a whole night with a girl somehwere else and it isn't much more than an extended lap dance. Bring lots of 100 ruble bills to pay the lap dancers, or 50s if you are feeling cheap. :)

Cabana and Bells aren't must sees. They are relatively small discos of which there are dozens of in Moscow, if not hundreds. However Cabana and Bells (among others) do offer an alternative to CF and NF if looking for p4p girls, but NF and CF are more interesting for a first visit IMHO. If you are "just" interested in disco dancing, there are better places, depending on the day of the week.

After NF, you should check out CF. A different scene entirely and remember, after midnight ALMOST any girl can be had for $100/night. Never pay more at CF. IMHO the girls at CF on a good night reach NF quality at half the price. Maybe you can check out both places and write a report when you get back, I'd be interested to hear your opinion.

Best tochka? The one by CF is good, on zemlyanoi val on one of the neighboring roads. Tochkas are always hit and miss, but this one is fairly large at least. The pickings get slim after 1-2am, so if this is your intention I wouldn't go much later than that. Otherwise you may be better off at CF. Remember, you can always go to another tochka if you aren't finding what you like. Expect to pay the taxi driver 300-500 rubles depending on how long he drives you around. A tochka tour is more expensive than a normal taxi trip which rarely cost more than 100 rubles.

Massage club: RogerMellie recommended a place in a previous post, try using the forum search to check out his recommendation. Massage places sometimes offer FS, sometimes just HJ/BJ.

mm... more good advice from doc. I would clarify though... if you go to Platinum/Divas/Spearmint Rhino/etc. strip clubs bring lots of US$20 bills and not 100 ruble notes!!!! Unless you are independently wealthy, stay away from the big name strip joints and go to the Russian strip clubs like Safari and Oh-La-La (never been here, but it comes highly recommended).

Like doc, I would not miss CF or NF. They tochka near CF is good, but I'd suggest going there early, 10-1130 to check out the available product. Otherwise, if you go at 1 or 2 a.m. you may find only 2 or 3 girls available. You may have tough decision of taking a girl or heading to CF, but at least you will have seen the lineup even if you wind up at CF.

Two nights in Moscow is almost a teaser and you'll be forced to leave with your appetite still craving what you only had a chance to taste and not savor... I'd start planning my return trip now! :)

If your mission is to have a fun night out and having a couple of drinks while chatting with girls and friends, then CF is better than a tochka since selection is still quite good late. I think tochkas are most appropriate if your only mission is sex. Get a girl early and work her good. A fun time can also be had if you and your bud each get a tochka girl, you can have an orgy. Switch-a-roo's are possible, provided you don't "fall in love" with your new GF and want to keep her for yourself.

Bring your own condoms. If you don't have any with you, you can get normal western condoms at the 3-6-6 (?) pharmacies (there are some 24 hour ones on Tverskaya as well) but don't rely on your girl. Tochka girls in particular will have the cheapest style condoms with them, and often only 1.

doc... the $20 bill comment was a "relative" comparison between the costs between the "western" strip clubs and the "russian" strip clubs. I am not really into strip clubs and I can't speak from personal experience about Divas or SR, but at Platinum I think they were quoting $25 per lap dance, which lasted about 2-3 minutes, but admitedly it could have been a "private" dance.

OTOH, I know at Safari the lapdances are still sto rublie... I don't know about the private dances. As memory serves, I can tell you that the total charge for a girl and time in the dacha in the back runs about $70 for about 40-45 minutes. The girls that go back to the dachas were not the dancers, at least on the night that I was there.

mm... NF is a good choice for dinner and to check out the girls, plus if you have dinner you don't have to pay the 650 rubles cover charge. Even though they have a dance floor, dancing is not really much of an option here.

Clubs that I've been to, especially CF, are very packed on Friday and Saturday night. You can dance, but it is very crowded compared to Sunday/Monday/Wednesday/Thursday.

If I was going to Moscow for two nights... first night, I'd go to Pyramid for drinks before dinner, anytime in early evening, then walk 2 blocks to NF for dinner at 2130-2200, afterwards go to NF bar for drinks to check out the girls, then at about 2300-2330, I'd get a car and EITHER go to a tochka to check it out and then go to CF if you don't mind the crowd... OR, go from NF directly to a strip club, I'll leave the exact recommendation to those that know that scene better than I do, then later if you choose go to CF or Karma Bar to dance.

Second night, I'd have dinner at one of the restaurants listed in the Exile, if you want recommendations, I have several good Italian places that I can recommend(one is just down the street from CF). Then, I'd either go to the tochka early, if someone is a knockout, I'd pay for her and ask them to hold her and let them know you'll be back. Then, go to CF and dance, then go back for the girl. If you get lucky at CF, you'll have to make a decision! :)

If you are really energetic, you can always order in from one of the MT ads or the internet on Saturday and Sunday mornings!

If you want to do something different instead of Red Square and the typical tourist stuff, take the blue line metro out to Izmailovskaya Park for the huge flea market. You may decide to pickup a Russian space suit with a helmet for your trip home.

One last point, make sure that you have your hotel write out all of your possible destinations, including the hotel name and address, IN CYRILLIC for you to give to the driver. Otherwise, memorize the closest metro station to each destination, to tell your driver approximately where you want to go! In addition to your passport/visa, always carry a map with you that has the names of streets in Russian (and English for you).

Like you, I think Oh La La is Moscow's strip club of choice. I think the guy who set up and runs Oh La La may have previously run Safari, but I dont think they are the same management now. If you stick to drinking beer and bring a whole bunch of 100 ruble notes, it wont cost you too much to get mighty worked up. 100 rubles bought about 5 minutes of breast sucking, snatch fingering raunch. I never tried the private dances there.

ECONOMY STATUS OF RUSSIA: good to realize, due to recent de-communization and capitalization of the national economy, there is an inflation rate above 10%, and hence a black economy. That is, you pay an expense, and do not always get a bill for your expense report... According to Moscow Times, what is traded on the entire Russia stock exchange at the moment (November 2003) is equivalent to only twice what is done in next-door 5.1 million people Finland. Thus, with a market of some 150 million Russian people, they still have a long way to go for developing their market economy and local IRS.

AIRPORT TAXI. - Landing at Moscow Airport at 05.40 am local time, going through customs and immigration, recovering luggage, once into the arrival hall, there are many men trying to lure you to get into their taxi at some US$ 70-80... Calling in advance, the hotel had told me about an average of US$ 50, or Rubles 1500, which is what I got one of them to agree. Mistaken by my foreigner’s accent he drove me first to the National Hotel, just opposite the West wall of the Kremlin. As the facade was not looking like the picture of the Tatiana Hotel, I showed him the detailed internet info with the picture, and driving me for a few more minutes, I finally got there (at no extra charge).

HOTEL and METRO. - The 4 stars Tatiana Hotel is located South, South-East of the center, along the Garden Ring, 5 minutes on foot from Paveletskaya Metro and Train Stations. That is at the intersection of the circular and dark-green lines of the metro, and 0.1 mile from the HP and Unilever Offices. Hence, if you want to see the architectural wonders of Moscow’s metro, even with a next to zero knowledge of the Russian language, you can go either to the Boar House or to the NighFlight, without even having to change line. Room prices of that hotel range from US$ 190 for a simple (and larger than at Paris, France) room with queen size bed, up to US$ 280 for a suite, VAT included. Price of a suite at the national Hotel can be as high as some US$ 800 per night. There are only 75 rooms in the Tatiana hotel, and no hotel-girls, neither at the bar, nor at the relaxation center. I found it to be a girl-friendly hotel: on the one hand, in the hall, in the tourists cards display, they have all the cards with info about most sought night life spots, and on the other hand, a morning, I saw an escort coming out without being neither embarrassed nor harassed at all. I have to agree with CAt on the tochka girls. When I tochka, which is not so often these days, I tend to do my tochkaing at the "5 mins walk from CF" tochka, and I always end up with sweet, regular girls from either the provinces, Ukraine or Moldova. A recent Moscow trip:

Well everyone, I am back from my visit. A real eye opener, and that's not all that was opened!!

I stayed at Radisson, which is west of centre, near Kievskaya metro. Regardng the $150 quoted prices at CF, there was a rash of this about a year ago but then it disappeared. The last several times I was there I almost always got quoted $100 and even those girls who started by quoting $150 or more were very quickly at $100.

Sounds like there may be some mamachkas and pimps demanding higher prices from their girls on particularly busy nights, but unlike many other places, many if not most of the girls at CF are operating independently and free to determine their own prices.

CA-Trav, and everyone else - re my report below, slip of the finger on keyboard. Should have said $200 (not UK pounds) in NF. Re the mamas at CF, definitely spotted one small dark haired slightly plump woman with a shaven headed guy, both about 40, where at least 4 girls headed to discuss things. Now this must have bee price as the one young girl in blue dungarees who quoted me $150 definitely wanted to go with me (my mate agreed), but I laughed at $150 and she couldn't get her mamochka to budge.

I have never been to NightFlight, but am entirely unsurprised that there are pimps, male or female working the joint. I only know Saint Petersburg in Russia, but in all the places that ever get mentioned in that fair city, there are guys or girls 'managing' the girls. I can not be more explicit about my source of this information, but when it comes to DMBH there is no higher authority. cap'n... I've been to Prague about a dozen times and I love the city and the girls. However, I will tell you that there is really no comparison between the cities when it comes to sex. Moscow is in a totally different league than Prague, IMHO.

The girls on the internet in Russia can be great, but what you see is not necessarily what you get... you can't necessarily take the pictures to the bank! However, there are many, many girls on the net that offer all night for $150+ and it just becomes a challenge to find one that you can communicate with to either have her come to you or you to her.

NF and CF are totally different and at the same time, the same. NF is a classy restaurant with a bar, which is filled ONLY with working girls between 7s and 10s. Not many streetwalkers in Moscow, but if you want to find them the only place I know is around Pushkin Square, mostly near the corner close to the McDonalds and/or in the street underpass/subway that goes under Tverskaya. I don't know anyone who approaches streetwalkers. You'll see them occasionally and apparently Kievsky Voksal (Kiev train station) is a place to find them among others, but I wouldn't suggest it. They aren't necessarily cheap either and the quality is low from what I've viewed. The really skanky ones are sometimes called "vodka hos", and many are herion addicts or alcoholics. I don't think this is what you mean by street action though. The other channels such as CF, tochki, massage salons, internet sites...all well-documented in recent posts (use the forum search function)... are better and safer alternatives and there is something for nearly every price category and taste. The internet sites will go as low as $50 in some cases, the tochkas start at $70 and the salons also offer "solutions" in the same price range. For tochka and internet action, I doubt you'll find something worthwhile under $100, the massage salons are a different story but don't offer overnight, which I prefer. My honest suggestion for a newcomer is to hit CF and NF, even if you don't partake. If you mean safe street action in the form of a tochka, go to CF first to check it out and then have a taxi there take you to a tochka. They are quite safe in my opinion.

Actually, you must pay the mama as soon as you pick the girl. If the girl was to "run" off, you would have to return to the tochka and explain that she took off. At the same time, I have NEVER even heard of such a thing happening simply because, as I understand it, the girl doesn't get paid until she goes back the next night. In addition, the girls (usually) go to the lineups of their own free will and they are happy to be picked because they get out of the cold and I suspect that the girls have some kind of personal competition about who is chosen first.

Here's my take on pros and honesty:

There is always going to be some latent risk in inviting a stranger into your room or home to engage in these kind of activities. GFE or not, she is still a stranger and cannot really be trusted. That said, I think if you take normal precautions (besides the jimmy cap..:)) you'll be ok. Russia still had a certain degree of lawlessness to it, the most lawless of all often wearing a uniform, but it isn't as dangerous as the Western press makes it out to be. The normal dangerous situations one can get into, like being alone at 3 am in a dimly lit alley or being passed out drunk in an apartment with a girl you just met 3 hours ago or suddenly meeting the 200 pound muscled meathead boyfriend or brother of the girl you are groping at the bar would be just as dangerous in the US or UK for that matter.

So beyond the obvious, I think that the following is a good guide of what to do and not to do:

* never get into a taxi or "gypsy taxi/street taxi" that has more than 1 person in it
* if you are new to Moscow, note the locationof your hotel and know some basic Moscow city geography
* especially if alone, maintain your wits and avoid being really drunk... you'll be a militia magnet if you are
* don't walk long distances at night
* lock up your valuables and documents when you are in your room
* if in a private apartment, lock the door from the inside and hide or otherwise maintain control over the key so your date will have to ask you before leaving
* when showering (if alone) make certain your stuff is secure
* if paranoid about spiked drinks, drink only bottled drinks (supposedly drink spiking does occur in Moscow, but I have never been faced with it. it is a bigger problem in the US and Europe actually, generally for women)

The relative "honesty" of Russian sex workers in general is surprising, as if they did steal from you or run off you'd probably never find them again and searching for them would likely bring more trouble and not be worth your time anyway.

The girls have yet to try to steal from me (that I know of...). I remember a particular recent incident where I was begging for trouble and nothing happened. I talked a CF regular down to $70 at about 3 am and then took her home. I was quite drunk and it wasn't one of my finer moments, yet she still didn't steal from me and dutifully waited until morning to leave.

She could have stolen a kidney from me and I wouldn't have noticed it... :)

BTW, talking a CF girl down to $70 is really not worth the effort IMHO and the girl will certainly feel insulted, but I just was curious if it could be done. I personally am very appreciative of the efforts of all posters, even those on their first trips posting on first experiences in Moscow. All the info here is very valuable. In the end everybody's experience will be individual and people also have different tastes and expectations, and I also enjoy their experiences vicariously.

As you mentioned, the dating sites are a good alternative approach to meeting girls.

You mention bride.ru, which is the english language sister site to a site I've used regularly, the dating.ru site mentioned here before by myself and RogerMellie among others. I think these sites are quite good for those looking for serious girlfriends/marriage as well as those looking to set something up for freebie sex/casual girlfriends. I've met several girls (and women) from the dating.ru site before and they were all "normal" girls looking for love, but they also knew the risks and pitfalls of looking for love on the internet, so when it didn't turn out to be love but rather just a short-term relationship with sex, they weren't gravely disappointed. Neither was I. :) The girls are all real, there doesn't seem to be any catch to it beyond the fact that the girls will likely be maintaining contact to several guys at once and some will have alterior motives in wanting to get to know you, but that is all part of the game, right?

Depending on your intention for your trip, the sites may or may not prove their worth. You will have to invest time and energy into it and write a lot of e-mails. I find them to be a bit more work than they are worth for me personally, but I have the advantage of being able to meet regular girls quite often and easily through regular trips to Moscow. So for me now writing e-mails to half a dozen girls I really only want to fuck once or twice really isn't much more effective than just hitting on strangers in a bar or calling up girls I've gotten phone numbers from before.

Using the sites to set up dates isn't necessarily cost effective either, as none of these girls will likely jump in the sack without at least dinner, a second or third date or maybe even a present like perfume. If you've only got a week in Moscow and are just looking for casual sex, then investing 3 days into a potential score is probably too much. That is an individual matter of preference I suppose. The girls I've met on the internet seem to me to be more cautious than other girls and more suspicious of a man's intentions. You will likely have to do some quality lying to convince them of your "honest intentions" or get lucky enough to find one that accepts your real intentions. What works for me is a mixed approach, I honestly intend to really fuck her. :) Currently I am only maintaining one contact from this site whom I'll meet next week.

However for those with little Moscow experience seeking a freebie or GF while in Moscow, it could well be worth your time and it'll be entertaining. You'll gain experience in dealing with dyevs, and setting up a date or two on one of your first nights in will help you adjust to Moscow without suffering from the loneliness that can occur being in a big city alone for the first time, not speaking the language etc. After your date is over (assuming you don't score on the first date), you can always jump in a taxi to expend the built up desire on some lucky CF, NF or tochka girl.

I also suggest being careful not to fall in love with the first "real" Russian girl you meet, it happens to a lot of guys...and Western guys are easy prey for a skilled dyev and her Slavic charms. Most men are completely unprepared for it and it can knock you off your feet.

Actually on the safety issue... I have felt in much more danger walking the streets of London or other big cities than I have in Moscow. The streets are generally well lit and you don't really have the gangs of young street punks walking around causing trouble. Of course, I haven't ventured out into some of the far reaching suburbs and that may be a different story.

Like you, I've been pretty lucky with all of the girls I've taken back to my apartment/room. I've only lost a stainless steel flask of aftershave. those of us who have sought female companionship over the internet are familiar with some of the russian language sites that cater to our interests: loving.ru, dating.ru, and omen.ru are among the most popular. every few days i get an e-mail from dating.ru, which features the latest round-up of russian girls looking to find a boyfriend over the internet. after all, men who have internet access probably have better job prospects. in fact, we’re an elite; according to either the moscow times or my girlfriend, only 2% of russians use the internet at home.

most of the girls on these sites are here in moscow or in st. petersburg—these cities have lots of bored office workers and students with access to scanners capable of uploading a flattering picture to the internet. when you look over the pictures of girls from the provinces, you notice that most of them have sent almost identical pictures of themselves, scantily clad, in front of drapes. somebody posed them for these shots, so they obviously work for porn sites. but which ones?

most of us remember the beginning of “amateur” internet porn. a college-aged girl would scan a bunch of pictures and find some commercial site designer to make her site with an early version of frontpage. a start-up credit card processing company on the web would be used to process payments. doing this requires a degree of initiative and intelligence, which limited the number of these sites as attractive girls with these qualities can usually find basic office jobs. but soon studios that would hire several girls and offer monthly access started getting into the business. for girls in the provinces, these studios were really the only option, because dsl and cable modems were not yet available in most of provincial russia.

all of this changed when the ifriends network opened its doors on valentine’s day, 1998. ifriends is a portal that offers ‘exhibitors’ easy-to-download software that lets them use a 50 dollar webcam to produce streaming video online. by ’98, there were thousands of porn sites with only a few girls each; ifriends offered a central meeting place for would-be porn stars and balding, 40 year old executives to exchange services for cash. women would use a text chat to lure men into a ‘private show’ in which they could then take off their clothes.

i first met anna two weeks ago on camcontacts. she was a fair-skinned, 22-year old bleached blonde who moved to the golden ring city of kostroma to escape the husband she left in kirov; her three-year-old daughter lives with her. she attended a local “technological university” and works some hours at a factory that makes processed meat, in addition to her chatroom income. anna won’t tell me how much she makes, but the average chatroom girl working on her own makes about $800 a month. studio girls make half this or less. since most people in kostroma oblast make less than $200 a month, chatroom girls are well-paid by local standards. the hours can be long; anna usually works for 12 hours a day or more; but most of these hours consist of waiting for someone to come in to watch her take off her clothes and finger herself for a few minutes.

i invited myself out to kostroma to visit anna. she was very happy with this and selected a “hearts” motif for her yahoo pager background. i’d never seen the city, which is about a seven-hour train trip from moscow. according to the only information available in english at waytorussia.net, the only train to the city of 280,000 leaves slightly before midnight, although there are regular busses. i found several hotels in the city: a “guest house” that offers doubles for 50 dollars a night or 5 dollars an hour, an old intourist place for 500 rubles a day that anna seemed to like, and a boat-hotel for 300 rubles a night which she claims is frequented by the city’s prostitutes.

that saturday evening i took the train to kostroma. platzkart is 12 dollars or so each way whereas kupe is about 18. the train went via yaroslavl; the two cities are about 80 km apart from each other but not connected by a major highway. i wanted to spend a few hours in yaroslavl, a city i’d never seen, so i took the second class car as far as yaroslavl and spent a few hours at a divey local discotheque called “partizan,” where i was rescued from some thugs by an english major at the university and her friends. the armenian taxi driver informed me that the local *****s ran at about 500 rubles apiece. i went platzkart to kostroma from there. the scene out the window was run-down izbas and the occasional factory. the single-family houses struck me, probably because i hadn’t left moscow since june.

anna and i played e-mail tag while i wandered around town after checking in at the kostroma hotel. this hotel, which wasn’t listed on the city site, has several types of rooms, including suites, first, and third class. first class rooms are $16 a night for a single with a bath, shower, tv and phone. third class rooms are $10, but you have to share a bathroom. the hotel was out of first class rooms so i opted for the $10 room.

kostroma looked better than i’d expected, more european than most russian cities. it’s run-down like most of russia but lacks the spiritually barren pressed-concrete architecture that characterizes many russian cities. it was once one of the principal commercial cities along the volga and is as old as moscow. it has a central open-air market and kremlin that are both several hundred years old. perhaps most amazing about the city is that it has so many good, inexpensive restaurants, including an ‘art cafe’ where the only art on the wall consists of pictures of (clothed) young women. most of the food is standard russian fare, although there are two decent pizzerias and an english restaurant called camelot. the pizza at the pizzeria doesn’t have any tomato paste, but unlike most french fries in moscow it comes with a bottle of ketchup, spelled ‘katsoop’ on the menu. i guess this serves as a proxy for the tomato paste.

i went to a disco in the center of town where the cover was 40 rubles and beers were 25-30. there was almost nobody there except some *****s in the lobby that i chatted up for half an hour or so. some guy they knew showed up and bugged them for $10 blowjobs, picking at polina’s fishnet stockings, which she was wearing over a regular pair of tights. two of them had phone numbers, another did not. not all of kostroma made it into the 20th century and many people still don’t have a home phone. when i returned from the disco, i found a message from anna—she had gone to work at 10, got my message, and come to the hotel only to leave when i didn’t come back.

after anna was given a clean bill of health, we made our way to her friend olya’s apartment. olya was also a chat girl. anna said it was olya’s birthday, so we bought a cake on the way for olya’s place. olya wasn’t home, but her mom was, and fed us soup, tea, cranberry juice, and a shot each of home-made ukrainian vodka which tasted a bit like swedish aquavit. while we waited around, we proceeded to eat half the cake. nobody bothered to light any candles or make a wish.

olya’s cat and 18-year-old son were home. she had a husband too, but he was away. the apartment was a standard one-room place on the first floor of a stalin-era building. in the one-room place dwelt: olya, olya’s mom, olya’s son, olya’s husband, and olya’s cat.

“nice kitty,” i told anna.

“oh—you can have her—there isn’t any room for her.” i would have considered it if not for the big, fat ticks on the cat’s back.

olya came home. she was seven months pregnant, and looked it. she had short, dyed blonde hair, pretty lips and a cute nose, but her pregnant-mom overalls and crowded apartment weren’t exactly stimulating. besides, she looked pissed off, even before i offended her by saying “foo!” when she lit a cigarette, my middle class instincts kicking in. olya ignored me from then on. she didn’t speak any english anyway, and wasn’t as willing to listen to my bumbling russian as her mom had been. olya had bigger problems; she was in the middle of a divorce.

“don’t worry,” anna said. “olya smoke last time pregnant.” after playing with the cat and toddler for a few minutes, anna and i took off for her studio. i never actually got a look at the studio; i waited outside the studio and had a cigarette. it was in an anonymous residential building; the entrance was a standard korpus that resembled half of the stalin-era korpusi in moscow. anna got her friend lena, who went to a bar with us where she explained how the girls’ set-up worked.

lena had long, chestnut-brown hair, a round face and what she described as a kazakh looking nose. she had an energetic personality; it was hard to assess her body under the large winter coat she was wearing. i forget the name of the bar, but it wasn’t bad for a city with the size and average disposable income of kostroma. lena was of average build; anna was much more fit but looked older. lena showed me her passport; she had just had her 23rd birthday. anna claimed to have lost her passport in a taxi. there was hardly anybody in the bar, but the waitress insisted that if we wanted a table that we had to pay at least 300 rubles between the three of us. i almost laughed at the low minimum, but then again, nothing on the menu was more than fifty rubles.

lena, anna and i proceeded to drink baltika 3’s. lena’s english was much better than anna’s, and so we were able to talk about their workplace. the studio had three rooms; one with pink drapes, one with blue ones, and one with green ones. each room had a bed; there were eight computers. each woman operated a computer; customers came rarely enough so that nobody had to worry about sharing the bed that served as a setting for most of the strip-tease. women could come and go as they pleased: there were about 30-40 women, total, but many only worked part-time. others worked 12 hours a day. lena practically lived there and at her sister’s place.

the biggest problem, however, was that of getting paid by ifriends or camcontacts. ifriends is in america and camcontacts in america and the uk, and both mail paper checks to their chat-hostesses rather than wiring them the cash. getting a check from the us or uk and cashing it in russia can take months even in a large city; kostroma’s banks don’t have many of the features that those in moscow do. to get paid, the money would have to be deposited to a us account by a friend and then sent to them via western union.

i invited the girls back to my hotel. “we have to work tonight—we are going to moscow for several days so we need the money.” this was news to me: i knew that a trip was planned but anna was undecided as to whether or not she wanted to go to moscow. i asked her how much she planned to make that night. she said that it could be as little as 200 rubles but as much as $50 dollars, but probably more like $10. the next day, they saw me off at the gray, soviet-era bus station; they would take the train later on that day and arrive in the morning.

so there you have it: the girls didn’t want to come back to my hotel with me because they couldn’t pass up an opportunity to make a dollar an hour or less. unfortunately, my megafon account has run out of money, so they won’t be able to get through to me. anna wasn’t nearly as attractive in real life, although her friend was cute. unfortunately, we all know how hard it is to switch friends. so i may wait a day or so before turning my phone on again

For cheap flats you might want to try www.cheap-moscow.com, they have links and telephone numbers and a lot of useful info in general. Haven't personally stayed in any of the really cheap places so I can't provide any personal insight.

For apartments above $100 there are a number of possibilities, including www.pulford.com or www.evans.ru.

Apartments can be a minor hassle sometimes, but they are definitely the better choice for mongering IMHO. Remember that you are still going to have to get your visa registered and most apartment places can't do this.

Back after a week in Russia which was too short as always, I am still trying to sort my thoughts and recount the events of the week. Differences between $70-$100 and $150: generally speaking it breaks down as follows, based on my observations. Would be interesting to hear the other guys opinions on this.

$70: sometimes average looking new girls, some skanks, lots of less attractive Moldavans etc. I have never seen anything worthwhile here, but it pays to take a look sometimes. They look like "real" streetwalkers. Some chubby ones, some downright ugly ones, occasionally some somewhat cute ones. Range 3-6 mostly 4s.

$100: My main market. On a slow night you'll find girls ranging from 5-8, but generally the girls are in the 5-7 category. This category is the "main" category and the most girls can be found here. A mix of all ethnic groups, Russians, Ukrainians, Uzbekis, Moldavans... I can usually find something here, but on a busy night and especially after 1 am it can be pretty picked over and there will only be leftovers in the 4-6 range left. These girls are sometimes very good. Sometimes they are even perfect, except for some minor flaw that bumps them down to this category, like bad skin, crooked teeth etc. Matter of taste and budget. If you go early and get lucky, you can nab a solid 8 from this price range. The girl I rejected with crooked teeth was most likely brand new. Maybe I should have taken her, I might have been her first. Range 5-8, mostly 7s.

$150 is where you'll have to shop on a busy night if you go late. The girls in this category all have good bodies and usually have no physical flaws such as bad skin etc. Sometimes the $100 girls jump up to this category after the pickings get slim for top girls, sometimes $150 girls are bumped down to the $100 category if it doesn't appear they'll get selected for a top dollar price. Very few darker-skinned Russians in this category (Moldavans etc.), mostly blondes. Range 7-9, but mostly 8s.

The price tag won't affect performance in my opinion, it really is like selecting cattle at an auction. I generally select between $100 and $150 depending on mood and availability. I look for smiles and positive attitude when choosing, unless I am "on safari" and trophy hunting for something in particular like a girl with big tits, a blonde, or a skinny one, or a Moldavan, or an Asian looking one... the selection and variety is unparalleled.

On many nights there is little difference between the $100 and $150 categories. It truly pays to look at the whole selection before making a decision.

Clothes: Most girls (whether $100 or $150) are dressed in clothes that look cheap. Like ripoff fake stuff. Not necessaríly skanky, but not high end by any means. CF and NF girls are usually dressed very nicely, tochka girls aren't. They look poor. (probably because they are) I agree with Ca_T, it might be difficult to find one that is dressed nice enough to go out to any decent place. Normal Russians girls dress very nicely (not necessarily in expensive designer clothes, but fashionably) and tochka girls will stick out. They can be a little rough around the edges, like diamonds in the rough.

I've never been to a tochka, but according to a report at the Exile, the money breakdown at the tochka is as follows. Ten percent off the top for the street girl. I guess because she is the main reason anyone can even find the other girls. I would imagine she is probably also cute like the window candy girls in Amsterdam's red light district, and also gets paid well because she doesn't get to trick that night.

Then it's a even split after that. So a hundred girl should get forty five. The other fifty percent then I guess pays for the mamatchka, the muscle, and the rest to the mafia.

Having posted on the p4p and tochka scene in particular, kindly allow me to post something about the so-called freebie scene, which I focused on in the second half of my trip.

I assume it is all of the above and more in various doses. Judging upon my experience, I do refute the notion that all Russian girls are just gold-diggers, or at least more interested in a guy's money/position/genorosity than in other countries. My girlfriends, who come in all categories of looks, are very emotional, very female, very affectionate, very sexual and very romantic. They simply know their position in the world as a female and utilize it to the best of their advantage and to the delight of the accepting patrner.

An advantage to all guys out there, age dfference is not as important in Russia as in most of Europe and America. You will be able to at least get your foot in the door with a lot of girls by being a foreigner. What you do with that is up to your talent. I am sure their are guys out there doing much better than I am. I am still learning, but learning fast and getting much better at it. May sound simplistic, but everybody who gets a chance to do so in Russia should at least try to interact romantically with a normal female and observe their response. It may be different than what you expect. Be careful of the results though if you fall in love easily...

One thought: It does seem to me that if you get a girlfriend with whom you cannot communicate very well verbally, if you can still get past first base, the relationship will develop sexually very quickly, as she tries to express herself to you but can only do it sexually and not really verbally. (but still orally) There simply isn't much to talk about, so sex takes over. Maybe bullshit, but I`ve considered this a few times while planning my schedule...I book less time for the non- english speakers as I know that they'll get down to business right away whereas the Anglophiles will want to chat and practice their English skills.

Wanted to add my 2 C to the situation in Russia and why is it so good for any decent guy.

So that situation answers the question why foreigners and well to do man of any age would do very well with Russian girls.

After my last trip, I decided that I was just “snake-bit” after being rousted by Militia and several “duds” from lineups and clubs, including NF, but I decided that it was just an off visit and so with renewed optimism, I headed off for a relatively short 10-night stay in Moscow. It's a good place to go to the Russian flea market, but I personally could not recommend a hotel so far out from the center because it is a hassle to get to and from any of the action. If you factor two round trips a day, $20, plus the $50, you might as well rent an apartment for $75 per day in the center. Of course, you could always take the metro, but it really takes a chunk of time out of your day(or night).

Am I glad to have found this forum! I wish I'd found it before I went to Moscow last June though! I rented an apartment just round the corner of Night Flight and went there 3 times, paid about 300 dollars for 2 hours though. Also ordered an escort who was friendly enough to help me around Moscow. Traveler - As to Ismailovsky Park and those hotels out there, though, since I'm usually going to Vernasage to import art/craft "stuff", it's easier than staying "downtown". Add that to a metro multi trip card (stop is right outside the hotels), and you can get most anywhere except between 2am and 6am (might be 1am, didn't test the system last time)

Speaking of HIV and what not in Russia, I have to ask this. A lot of you talk about the virtues of performing oral sex on the women you pay for. As a person who loves that to, I get why you would want to, and how it could make the women give better service in return.

Herpes is all over the map. Up to 80% of Americans carry HPV1 or HPV2(man and women). Catching one increases your resistance to the other one(medically proven). Same stats in Russia, getting HPV from oral sex in almost certain without cover. All in all, herpes is overhyped. You don't stop going to work for fear on getting on the freeway. Wash with soap (common soap kills the HPV virus). Look for sores(blisters and such) in the provider. NEVER attempt it with a street ho.

Herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2) and human papilloma virus (HPV) are NOT the same. HPV refers to a "wart" infection of the skin. Like any wart, it can be spread to other parts of the body by contact and also spread to other hosts the same way. The wart can be removed by burning (electrocautery or laser).

In contrast, HSV penetrates the skin or mucous membrane and infects the nerve. Soap and water may help prevent HSV-2 infection but the virus isn't hardy and dies when outside the body more than ten seconds. However, brief contamination of even a microscopic skin break can result in transfer of the virus. Viral contact of mucous membranes (such as occurs in unprotected sex) is typically the source of genital infection.

HSV-1 and HSV-2 are different variants of "herpesvirus hominus" which has five subcategories. Type one has a propensity to infect the oral cavity and type two "prefers" genitalia but either virus can infect any location on the body. Someone with HSV-1 on the mouth can be re-infected in a different area of the body by the same type of virus. A person can also be infected with both HSV-1 and HSV-2. Type 2 infections can occur on the mouth, though they tend to have much milder recurrences. If someone already has type 1 on the mouth the person might also acquire a type 2 infection on the mouth.

Certainly, having one type HSV does not confer immunity to the other. To repeat, an HSV infection is an infection of the nerve. Once the virus enters the nerve cell it's there for life.

There is lots of good STD and HIV info in that section of the WSG, but specifically to your question I have to say that going down on a pro girl is not the brightest thing to do, I only do it very rarely and each time I do it yields a certain degree of apprehension for me afterwards. Your policy of not giving oral sex to a pro is a good one. I only rarely do it...and then only with particularly delicious-looking, clean and shaved ones, which of course isn't an accurate indicator of the state of their health. dinghy... I'm well aware of the situation at Izmailova Park because it is a normal weekend destination to attend the "flea" market. While the hotels that are by the park were originally built for the 1980 Olympics, they do not look especially appealing to me AND I suspect that anytime you take a girl to your room you will have a hassle with security.

The metro stops running at 0100 and it is 3 or 4 stops outside of the Garden Ring/metro brown line. So, IMHO you must weigh the low cost to the hassle of getting in and out of the center for the restaurants, clubs and lineups.

The best option is still an apartment in the center near the metro which will save you both time and money.

Recommendations have been covered here before in detail, Ca_T even put together a whole itinerary for someone a while back, it was pretty hot.

The below is borrowed from one of my previous posts, adjusted slightly:

"I think Night Flight on Tverskaya is a must for any newcomer, and if you want to save $20 go there for a LATE dinner to avoid the entrance fee (be sure to tell the security guys you are going to the restaurant and a girl will guide you upstairs). Go down to the bar/disco after dinner at about 10:30-12 p.m. Going earlier really isn't worth it, in fact the best time to go to the bar is around midnight. Every girl aside from the NF waitresses and staff is available.

Warning: You WILL be tempted to take one of the girls! If $200-300/night is in your budget then this may be a best choice for opening night. Bargain down to $150-200 if possible though. Should be possible unless the place is totally packed. What the girls will do is up to your bargaining skills and how much you pay. Clear it up before deciding. Reading some guys reports, the amount orf service varies wildly from girl to girl. They are freelancers and under no "club obligation" to do anything in particular. The girls are generally very presentable and classy-looking and on most nights you'll find girls in the 6-8 category, maybe a 9 if you are lucky.

After a night at NF, you should check out Doug and Marty's Boar House (aka Chesterfields or CF) close to the Kursky Metro and Train Station. Maybe you can check out both places and write a report when you get back, I'd be interested to hear your opinion. I've rarely been disappointed here and prefer CF to NF for a variety of reasons, among them PRICE! I'm not cheap and have the cash to spare, but I have not noticed any significant quality difference between a well-selected $100 girl and a $300 NF girl. Others will likely object to this, but that is MHO. Somehow the CF girls seem less spolied and less jaded to me than NF girls. NF caters to businessmen, many of whom are afraid to go anywhere else. CF is a very mixed expat and Russian crowd. What will the girls do? Same story as with NF...up to your bargaining skills. FS, DFK and BBBJ should be in the cards though.

Another must for a monger is a lineup or tochka. Best tochka? Subjective... The one by CF is good, on zemlyanoi val on one of the neighboring roads. Also good are th tochkas around the Marriott Grand. Read past posts, I gave directions... Tochkas are always hit and miss and pickings get slim after 1-2am, so if this is your intention I wouldn't go much later than that. Otherwise you may be better off at CF. Remember, you can always go to another tochka if you aren't finding what you like. Expect to pay the taxi driver 300-500 rubles depending on how long he drives you around. A tochka tour is more expensive than a normal taxi trip which rarely cost more than 100 rubles. Prices range from $70-200 (although most tochkas only have the 70-100-150 categories) What will the girl do? Same as NF and CF, however the tochka girls will generally do more. Quality ranges from 4-8 with extremely rare 9s.

I think a newbie should also go to a strip club, maybe even first thing to get a full-blown Russian babe overload. Best strip club? Very subjective question, there are a lot of really good ones but an excellent affordable one is Safari Lodge. And you can do the deed on premises, which isn't common for a strip club. A strip club is also a must for a first timer, although I rarely go anymore as you can easily drop $100 there that would be better spent buying a girl somehwere else, but the the sheer volume of gorgeous babes is overwhelming. If you go to another club like Rasputin, Dolls etc. I don't recommend having a "private dance"...it'll cost as much as a whole night with a girl somehwere else and it isn't much more than an extended lap dance. Bring lots of 100 ruble bills to pay the lap dancers, or 50s if you are feeling cheap.

Do you recommend a specific Tochka, or would you suggest a Tochka "tour?" Dr. S, you suggested Tochka girls "do more". I guess for a newbie to Moscow, NF is a must, but I'm inclined to visit CF first, particularly since I have only four days for hunting. Any thoughts on an itinerary? This will not be my last trip.

Finally, for currency. Take US$ or use the ATM for Roubles? What's the currency of choice? I travel quite a bit, but it's been 12 years since my last trip to Moscow and I know it's changed.

Oh, before I forget, best way to secure a visa? Travel agent or by foot? I live in DC.

It could be a problem to try to call them from home and just order up your kits. Unless you happen to be a physician and you work out of your house, which I am not. I can't really divulge how I got my supply, but it took a bit of creativity. They will also require that you sign and complete a W-9 form with your Soc. Sec. #, though I doubt that they have time or concern to check it, its really for their own bookkeeping requirements. Remember, they are in business to make $, so they are happy to get customers. Especially at the minimum order price of $360. I think that was for 20 test kits.

I think there are 2 available tests, one uses a drop of blood from your finger, and the newer one uses a drop of saliva. I trust the blood test more, but they say the other is just as good. Also remember, even if you are a medical technologist who does this test every day as part of your profession , that if you're doing it at home, or in your flat in Moscow with your tochka girl, and you don't go exactly by the book with all the quality control and testing guidelines etc., then the accuracy of your results is zero. That's why you can't buy it at Walgreens. On the other hand, with a little practice, and if you're careful to always use good technique, its pretty hard to screw it up! My lab professor would probably shoot me for saying that, but fuck him. I've had girls absolutely cry tears of gratitude for offerring to, and testing them, because they had been wondering and worrying if their boyfriends were ok to trust, they don't like russian guys very much!

You have to be honest and tell them they still better go get tested by a doctor or a clinic. I never had a girl test positive, that would definitely be an interesting situation, which again is why you can't but it at Walgreens, you and I aren't prepared or qualified for that conversation. The best advice is protection for everyone. Stay away from needle marks, usually they're easy to see if you look closely. Don't want to have to change your name to Deep in Shit, right?

If I ever get to Madagascar or Cambodia for some $10-15 fun, I couldn't even think of NOT using these things, even if they were virgins!

Some more results from a recent trip to Moscow. Like Dr Skank I tend to do half my evenings with freebies and half with working girls, but I have to confess I am tending more to the freebie scene as time goes on.
