By any chance, do you remember if they have a good internet connection in the room?

I do not recall about internet, but I just checked on the Wotif.com site and it says that the Grand Executive rooms only have it. So I guess thats a no.

Just saw the prices in Wotif.com. They seem crazy. The price for Crown Plaza states USD 130 for a friday booking, whereas just last week I paid just about USD 58 through rajakamar.com for Crowne Plaza. These guys seem to be looting. And if you go through Kaha, its about USD 60

No problems at all taking girls in there. If you want them to come up to your room, just mention it to the concierge along with, as always, a small tip, 50k max

looking for a decent jakarta hotel near hot-spots (gf action zones) with (true) "high" speed internet connection for 5-6 nights.

my info is dated as it's been 2 years since i was last in jakarta, but of the hotels on your list, the internet in the atlet, mulia and sari pan pacific sucked the last time i was in those hotels, so much so that i had to go to an internet cafe or in case of mulia the hotel business center to get anything done. i too would be very interested if anyone knows a hotel with true, in-room, high speed internet close to or just south of the central business district.

I'm here now in the Ambhara and think it's quite nice. The internet in the room is reasonably fast and via cable. The cost is 6500 idr for an uninterrupted one hour and 17500 for a 24 hour period. I think that's steep...but I'm willing to pay it.

I may or may not have time to write a comprehensive report on this place, but my general feeling is that it's much nicer than I expected and very convenient to Blok M. Of course I'm coming from City Garden Makati and Riveria Mansion in Manila. I checked the bars Monday night (Top Gun etc) and may have been too tired from air travel to appreciate them. Didn't particularly enjoy the scene. Certainly nothing as exciting as LA Cafe in Manila...from where I just came. I ended up making a selection at CJ's in the Mulia. Must say the drinks there were pricy at 75000 for a local bear and 95000 for a corona. Probably wont go back there again.

Yes I always used to use Wotif for my Singapore trips but now I get much better prices on local Singapore sites.
It is a reasonable information site for hotel information however.

USD2 for 24 hour internet connection sounds cheap to me - for a decent hotel. Rates are normally around USD10 upwards! Please check my post below on Manhattan hotel internet rates. Some hotels go as high as USD15 or even higher for 24 hours.

Incidentally, since I do go to JKT regularly enough, I've found it cheaper to buy bottles and use them for entry a few times. Just pay for mixers. It works out cheaper in the long run.

Now that I've had to renew my 24 hour internet connect, I see that I'm paying 175,000 IDR for this period. That does come out to $18.24 US. This conversion with all the zeros seems too complicated with the jet lag and general fatigue. Bottom line....internet here at the Ambhara Hotel is pricy. And yes, it's 175,000, not 17,500 as I earlier posted. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm heading to JKT soon, its been a few years since I have been there, just wondering what the going rate in a place like BATS is for LT these days?

I'd hate to overpay and spoil the market.

I thought something was seriously wrong with your quote earlier. Most hotels if they're offering it at a price, it ain't going to be cheap compared to going to an internet cafe or such.

The following is my personal opinion :

The prices varies with the girls and customer as a guide

300K IDR to 500K for short time and 500K to 800K for long time. I normally pay 700K and nothing more but the choice is yours! Have fun! Please correct me if Im wrong guys! BTW CJ's is a better place to hunt in terms of quality & choice!

PS This question would have been better placed in the Jakarta thread instead of this hotel thread! ;P

Just a quick note here to say I paid between 500 and 550 with taxi money each night in Jakarta for my long time entertainment. Picked mainly from Top Gun, but took one gal from CJ's. She opened with one mil but dropped to 500 when i feigned indifference.

This may come too late, but if you cross the street and enter Pasaraya Grande there's a good internet cafe on the 1st basement-floor.

Well golly, I just did some research and discovered that you asked the same question here on the Indonesia board back on Feb 15, 2008!

You've also recently asked the same question on several other ISG boards, including two in China and some in the Middle East.

Unfortunately, you never bothered to write a post of what happened during your visit here earlier this year.

So, RTFF (read the forum)!!!

For my first visit to Jakarta (and Indonesia) I decided to stay at the Ambhara Hotel due to its close proximity to Blok M. After 5 nights here, I'm relatively pleased with the place. I booked it through the internet getting a rate of $97/night including breakfast buffet. Although they mentioned that internet was available in the room, it wasn't until I got here that I learned it was a whopping 175,000 IDR additional per 24 hours. I tried the one hour rate of 65,000 IDR first, but quickly decided I needed more than an hour each day.

The hotel itself is positioned across from an upscale mall by a very busy divided arterial. To get to the mall you can group with the locals and cross the street on foot or utilize a steel pedestrian overpass. I used the overpass the first time, but switched to the local method thereafter. The mall contains a nice supermarket, drug store, and fast food outlets in the basement. Good place to stock up on your water and snack supply. An accasional freelander was apparent at certain times of the day, but pickings were slim. I quickly discovered that the famous FL bars are not in or particularly near the nice mall. Rather, they are a short two non descript blocks away which involves the same arterial crossing.

After asking around a bit, I found the bars positioned on both sides of a nearby street. They seem to be dead before about 10 pm when the live music starts. While I was here, Top Gun seemed to be the place to be, followed by My Bar. My recollection is that only Top Gun had a live band of questionable quality, but regulars may wish to correct me here. The other bars held some old men (like me) shooting pool, but very few ladies. There is little traffic at night on this out of the way street and the whole street scene lacks excitement. Nothing like the street scene outside LA Cafe in Manila or Fenwicks in HK.

The doormen at Top Gun had the unusual practice of shaking my hand each night that I would enter the bar...I presume as a friendly greeting. During my 5 day stay, I took 3 or 4 ladies home LT to the Ambhara for 500,000IDR and taxi money of about 20,000 to 50,000. One LT turned into a ST for 320,000 all in when she turned into a goofy starfish in bed. I don't always specify what services I expect (bbbj and mutual shower among other things) and she was not providing either. If you stay at the Ambhara there is no need to deal with the taxi guys...who are very aggressive in trying to get you into their car. The hotel greets you and your date politely upon returning and there is no registration or staring during the walk of shame. You may or may not pass the reception counter on the way to the elevators, but it's a non issue. I believe there's only 6 floors here and my floor was non-smoking and also held the outdoor pool, massage place, and gym. I didn't use the gym, but tried the massage on my first night there...when the prices still seemed reasonable. One hour Swedish with a very nice lady was 155,000 IDR. She offered a hj, but I was saving fuel for my first evening and passed. I'm sure she would have expected an additional tip. She also made it known to me that she could provide FS in my hotel room, but no LT since she worked there. The hotel concierge later helped me book Rodger's Spa nearby (about 8000IRD taxi ride) which offers legit massage for about 85,000/hr in a very upscale spa atmosphere and a lot of female clients. I even indulged in a manacure while there. This hotel concierge was very helpful throughout my stay...

The hotel itself has marble floors in the entry and throughout the entire room that you occupy. A grand piano is played in the lobby each night accompanied by a violinist. The hotel was nicer than I had anticipated. It presents a clean, well maintained, traditional look, run by exceptionally hospitible staff. Laundry services and extra towels are a call away. There is an electronic safe in your closet and a stocked minibar which I didn't use. The marble bathroom with its walk in shower and extra ammenities was especially appreciated.

I used the Stanford Arms Pub twice for light dinner before going out. There were a couple of ladies there meeting up with expat men. During my stay I never noticed Fl hanging around. A breakfast buffet is served each morning in the large dining room. It's oriented toward the 90% asian businessmen clientale but is adequate for a western guy. Everyone wears slacks here...no shorts. In the morning, there were never any working girls in attendance. Each of my dates left between 6 and 8 am. It would have been awkward to take your lady down to breakfast here. I never noticed men taking ladies to their rooms. A French Pastry restaurant is located in the lobby and I tried it a couple of times for snacks. Good deserts.

Across from the hotel is a medical clinic which I used once to get a Rx. Cialis and Viagra are both available in the mall pharmacy without Rx. The doctor and my "other" pills from their inhouse pharmacy cost a total 248,000 all in. There was no wait to see the young physician.

The approved "Blue Bird Group" taxis park in mass at the hotel. If your doorman calls one for you the meter starts at 7500 IDR. If you fetch it yourself, the fare starts at 6000 IDR.

In summary, I'd recommend the Ambhara. Downside is expensive internet, so-so buffet for the westerner, and a pool that no one wants to use. Upside is very friendly and well trained staff in nicely equipped rooms with a masculine marble and brown wood look. The walk in shower is great. I can't address value because I've never stayed anywhere else in Jakarta. I'm attaching a few pics to give an idea of the hotel and nearby area. I realize this report is a little long, but hope it's useful to someone.

Good report Xdentx. For those who don't know, the mall to which Xdentx refers is Blok M Plaza about which I and others have reported. You mention that there were not many (available) girls around but I wonder if you went to the cinema lobby at the top floor? Also the availability depends on the time of day, afternoon / evening being the best time.

Great report! Ambhara is around the same price as Le Meridien Hotel, and more than the Mercure Rekso, but is in a good location for mongering

- happy to read that you did not overpay for LT - proof that it's not necessary to pay 1 million or more

- from my experience, "bbbj and mutual shower" are standard items on the menu for Jakarta girls, sorry to read that you ran into one of the few who wouldn't do either

- for what it's worth, the 1,500 rupiah difference between a taxi called by the doorman and one you fetch yourself is equivalent to 17 cents US or around 0.12 Euros, not that much money

- Ambhara Hotel has a decent Indian restaurant, I had a memorable lunch with esteemed senior member Prof Designer (from Bali) there several months ago

like bulai 69 i tend to get pasaraya and blok m malls mixed up, but there's a large internet place in the basement of one, pasaraya i think, that has high speed internet at low prices. this would be a good option if you're staying at ambhara and don't want to pay ridiculous prices. i've used it when staying at the atlet or mulia when i wanted to get some serious work done, even though it involved a 20 minute trip via taxi. go there during the early evening and you may run across some hookers checking their email before they head out to bars and karaoke places.

the last two trips i've had to the internet cafe in the basement there were horrible experiences for me. i used to go there all the time with my laptop but the last two trips the speeds were horrible and the service has gotten bad compared to before. unless it has gotten better, i'd find other options if you are in need of dependable internet connection.

Yes, Xdentx was not of course talking about Blok M Plaza, I hadn't got my brain in gear before writing my report. I often go to Pasaraya - it's worth noting that most 5* hotels offer a free taxi ride there (certainly Le Meridien does)

Yes, I was refering to Pasarya and not Blok M in my report. I thought they must be one and the same. Of course, Pasarya is quite upscale, so I was a little confused in looking around. Perhaps for the benefit of other newbies, someone can explain the difference between Pasarya and Blok M. I did note the internet station in the basement of Pasarya, but thought the fees were identical to the hotel. Maybe I got confused on that issue. And no I did not even know there was a cinema in that complex with the potential to meet freelancers. Thanks for the clarifications.

There is a cinema on the 8th or 9th floor of the Pasaraya complex, as well as an eatery, a bowling complex, a gym, billiard hall etc. But, I suppose none of them very popular because very I've never seen a lot of visitors up there.

The cinema Bulai69 refers to however is located on the top floor of Blok M Plaza. Read B's reports about pick-ups he made there.

To add some more confusion, under the Blok M busstation is a mall where you can buy cheap clothing, shoes etc. You must have guessed the name of that mall. Right, it's Blok M Mal :)

Excellent report Xdentx, if I knew how to do so I would put it in the reports of distinction section as it is a very fair and accurate summary of facilities in the Blok M area (Blok M is the general name for that area, including the two big Malls, the Jalan Falatehan bar area and the bus station) an area of which I am very fond but which alas rarely sees me much after 6pm these days.

A few small pointers; there is a cinema in the Pasarya Mall but for some reason which escapes me seems largely to show Indian movies, the better cinema is at Blok M Plaza the big shopping mall around the corner from the Melawei Hotel (I'm surprised you didn't check that out while you were there, the "6th Floor" is a Blok M landmark), and unlike Bulai I have never had a back seat fumble with a willing nubile young thing, despite my almost manic stalking of the place in search of just such a delight (no surprise there then). The internet cafe in the Pasarya is ok but can be quite slow and is usually inhabited by smokers of pretty vile cigarettes who seem to believe that what you wanted today was to have them place their smouldering monstrosities in the ashtray right next to you for half an hour.

As regards the Ambhara it still remains my favourite hotel in Jakarta and for anyone seeking a good comfortable well run mid range hotel it's hard to beat. Have no fear about bringing down your conquest for breakfast, I did so on many occasion and no one ever batted an eye or even suggested they should be charged for the extra breakfast despite the sight of a dolly bird in a spangly boob tube and lycra miniskirt tottering along in six inch stilettos sweeping all the food she could off the buffet on to her plate and into her handbag. The Stamford Arms recently underwent a renovation and completely lost its previous charm and atmosphere while at the same time acquiring a price list that would put CJ's to shame, best avoided. Alas the Indian restaurant which was excellent is now closed.

Avoid the clinic across the street, not only do you not require a prescription to buy most medications in Jakarta but the staff in that clinic are incompetent and will probably diagnose you with AIDS if you have a sore throat or a sore throat if you have AIDS.

The bars in Falatehan are much as you describe them, easygoing expat bars which have a smattering of free lance girls after 10pm, the days of that street being the hot bed of passions and raunchiness are long gone but you can still meet up with a nice girl and have a pleasant beer and a chat with a fellow punter or charming bar maid if you don't.

Have I missed anything?

Guys,

I will be shortly in Jakarta for one day (25 hrs exactly). If you were in that situation, what would you do? What would be the ideal plan for a 24 hrs in Jakarta. Of course I would be interested in finding a good girl to join me during that time. Where will I pick such a girl from? Where will I stay? (considering finance is not an issue)

I keep reading through this forum that CJ is good to find good looking girls. Also, quite a few recommend Abhara Hotel. (or whatever is called). Do you guys agree?

I would really appreaciate it if you experts write down a plan for one day in Jakarta.

Thanks,

X

I may be too late in commenting as I just read your question. If I was arriving for 25 hours I would (as I've reported) look for a girl in the airport on arrival. There is always a large crowd if you come in on a non-internal flight and there are usually a few girls in there. Of that few, for sure there will be girls just looking for you! Just smile at them and say hello, ask if they are waiting for someone by way of introduction and you are away.

So that's your first conquest which you can take back to your hotel. Let's say you arrive midday, that will get you to early evening. Have a rest and then go to one of the many night clubs discussed in the forum. Find a girl for the evening (and all night if you want that - I wouldn't) which will be no problem. Next day, visit 6th floor early to leave yourself enough energy to pick up a girl at the airport or if you can't, get a "massage" at the airport hotel. Leave enough time. That's 4 in 25 hours, no problem.

I have had a similar issue with Rajakamar I asked for a quote on the Crowne Plaza and they said 590,000/night. But when I tried to book this hotel they keep on asking for my details, such as name , number, length of stay, arrival info etc. Normal questions that you would expect. But when I get 3 e-mails asking the same info I asked them what's going on.
I haven't heard from them since.

4 girls in 25 hours? sounds like a slow day, but I'll take it any time :D

When Bulai69 mentioned "visit 6th floor early" he was referring to the Maribaya Spa on the 6th Floor of the Hotel Melawai I, located in Blok M. An alternative would be to go to Kota and stop at Kartika Spa for a 2-girl massage-and-full-sex session; that way you'll be relaxed and boost your total to 5 girls.

I look forward to reading your trip report!

i checked in to meridien hotel. nice hotel, decore, good staff, little expensive, very close to the business district of jakarta still not too far from the places of action. the ac in the room was barely working. called the duty manager, gave him hell and he upgraded to the deluxe room for the same price. much better room, nicer area of the hotel, decent internet connection (can not compare with the similar hotels in usa but you can do the basic stuff).

tried to venture out to the tiga pulu (in-house night club). to my surprise the band and the crowd did not impress me at all. 5-6 girls, couple of japanese mongers, a very few folks total. took the taxi and headed towards shangrila (bats). decent crowd, some nice faces, nice band. picked up a nice, little cute one. she wanted 1m for all night but settled for 600k ( i know, it is still too high but she was one of the best at that place at that time). people were leaving and good ones were being picked up fast. did not want to disappoint lil johney ;)

next day again went downstairs (tiga pulu). still crowd did not impress me at all. very few girls, couple of indian mongers, quite disappointing. i should have stayed in shangrila or mulia for similar price. i have to have decent internet connection in the room to work. anyway, took a cab and went to cj's instead. nice place, quite packed, very diverse crowd. definitely better selection than tp. mostly free lancers, couple of them came from tp (i saw them in tp before leaving to cjs) after getting disappointed - i guess.

met a cute little college student. she is working on pr (public relationship course) in the local college. she was asking 1.2m for all night but negotiated to 650k. very nice service and good english. had a great converstion.

overall it was a nice experience with the exception of hotel (tp is loosing its steam, it appears). i guess, if you want good internet with resident night club, mulia or shangrila may be a better choice.

heading to manila on thursday morning for 6 days. let me know, if someone can suggest couple decent hotels (or apartment) around the hot-spots of manila that have high speed internet connections. requested in manila hotel section as well :)

Kudos for negotiating down from 1M+ to the 600 - 650K rupiah range on two separate occasions - yes, it can be done!

Re: the hotels, my experience has been that a room at Le Meridien can be had for under US $100, which is considerably less than what is usually quoted for a room at Mulia or Shangri-La - you get what you pay for?

Thanks for your good report, I just wish you had included the names and a few details on the two girls and their skills.

My office have booked me into Batavia Hotel from 2-6 Dec 2008 for our firm's annual gathering and management meeting. I need some help on the following as I want to get some entertainment away from the office crowd:

(1)I would like to visit Sparks Hotel & Lokasari in the evening to see the happenings at M&B and TC (with possibility of pick-ups) and I need to know how far is Batavia from Sparks?

(2)How far is Berlian, Kartika and Travel Hotel from Batavia?

As for Mangga Dua (night spots) I will do more reading to gather information.

Hope experts of the Jakarta nightlife scene would lend a helping hand.

Thanks in advance.

I personally have not been to Batavia Hotel but based on it's website @ http://www.batavia-hotel.com/inside/index.php, it claims to be in the Kota area and both Sparks Hotel and Lokasari are in the same area although not that near but still close enough for a taxi ride that shouldnt cost you more than 20,000 IDR from your hotel! BTW the hotel is old and not to comfy and has gotten bad reviews in a few travel forums. Just to let you know!

All the HC mentioned are in the same area and based on your hotel map shouldnt be too far away!

Have fun!

Appreciate your advice.

If I have my way, I would have stayed at Sparks Hotel. Unfortunately my boss seems to think that we should all experience some Dutch influence when in Jakarta (no ill-will intended to members here who are of Dutch origin).

Hope to post FR of my next trip to Jakarta.

Dear guys,

After 2 years+ of hiatus I finally get to return to Jkt..but alas, just for a short 3 nights..and mostly work!

Now help required for hotel..I know.. I have RTFF, but all these area names really baffle me, so I risk being man-handled and ask here.

I have biz meeting near Taman Mini Jkt East, Tuesday, and suppose to end at 5pm. I will arrive in a morning flight and taxi to the meeting place straight away. So i am not checked in yet until 5pm.

I see from Google the place I will be in, is really far from any decent place, and Jkt macet is the most horrifying image that still lingers in my mind. So, please anyone kindly suggest hotels or areas, easy to get to from where I am at that hour (5pm), not far from action at night :D.

Just need names of areas, I will check it out myself, and book once I am in airport. Terima Kasih..:D

Oh and btw, in case it is helpful, my Jkt experience was all within Blok M, so I am fairly comfortable with the area. I stayed Golden Boutique Blok M and Melawai then. Both places are ok to me.

Taman Mini is close to Gatot Subroto. You can check into Crowne Plaza. You can pick up a hotel voucher at the airport and it would cost you around USD 60 to 65. The other alternative is Hotel Bumikarsa in Pancoran. But, you may not get to pick up girls inhouse. You may also want to look at Le Meridien or Mulia, in case your budget is @ USD 80 for LM and 90 to 100 for Mulia. Thats the price for a Kaha Voucher at the airport or through www.rajakamar.com

Tama Mini is close to Kuningan area.

Hi,

Question for the guys living in JKT.

I am trying to book a hotel room online through the site but keep getting the period is sold out, or the rate is unavailable. I am looking for the period between Christmas and New Year's.

My question is about this time of the year is it normally a busy period in JKT. IE. there are lots of tourist in JKT whereas the hotels are usually booked. Something like New York at New Year's Eve.

PM me and I will give you the HP number and email id of BMW Tours and travels. They have branches in Jakarta Bali,Lombok and Bandung and will get you the room within your budget. They are like KAHA but do not have counters. They have dedicated clientele who come on tour packages.

Booked the Ambhara Hotel in the airport for 610k (50 USD).

Since it was my first time in Jakarta, I only booked one night and thought I could extend in the hotel. I found out that the rate at the reception was way over 800000. Even at asiarooms the best price was 77$.

I then had the reception call the travel agent, whom they seem to know quite well. He immediately came over with the vouchers. I needed to pay cash, because they only accept credit cards in their office.

I handed him the agreed money and he left. After a while he came back to my room with 80k and said he made a mistake and only the first night of extension was 610, the following two are only 570 and he needed to return 80k. I was pleasantly surprised and gave him a tip.

The Travelagent is KAHA. They have a booth at the international airport. The office (closest to Ambhara, about 15 mins and 25k by taxi) tel number is 021-72795650. The guy's name is ALDI and his mobile is 0818 0606 1119.

He said if you reach the hotel, then call him he will come over and bring the vouchers. Even if only for 1 night.

Kaha is a really good way to go for booking rooms when you land and extending. They have many offices and actually there is one not that far away from Ambhara that you could walk to. The only problem is it is not that easy to describe completely. It's not very far from Melawaii Hotel but hidden in a building with a bunch of jewelery stores.

i finally decided on www.amarishotel.com as i able to book room online at their site.

contacts info and map can be obtained from site so i skip that.

here some simple facts..
- all staffs young ganteng and cakep..<25 yo mostly. so service is pretty friendly and decent;
- confirmed gfe, but you have no choice but to face the "walk of shame" as you guys go to room;
- 10 x 12 room, can be claustrophobic for big guy, has windows either facing outward or in inward;
- queen bed, but can be too short if you more than a 6 -footer (and i mean your height guys);
- bathroom with shower, no tub;
- only 1 type of room, 360k, and has 4 floors
- decent breakfast just right mix. will be boring after 3 days in a row though;
- wifi at the lobby, gratis and good speed. load my google earth plus in 10 seconds;
- location: 2-min walk to blok m plaza, melawai hotel 1/2, 3-4 min from pasaraya grande, ~20k taxi to jl falatehan.

conclusion- definitely worth checking out!

Just returned from Jakarta and stayed in Sari Pan Pacific (pacific floors). I took every night a different girl from Blok M without any problems. Be prepared for a walk of shame, because you have to cross the lobby diagonally with your lady and there are no sneaky bypasses. Security is very good, without problems, friendly to the girls, but when one of the ladies left alone during the night (she offered that I could stay in bed) they phoned to the room for a confirmation that everything was all right. My last night in Indo I took two beauties to my room, but security didn't even blink an eye.

Often some ladies are present in the bar (Flanagan). The disco in the basement (Pit Stop) has also some ladies present, but my experience was that here the action starts rather late (>11 pm). The band was good and I was asked by one of the bar ladies if I would like some company and then she introduced me to two "friends". I took three times a massage and was offered three times some extras but the asking prices were rediculous.

In summary: nice and clean rooms and very spaceous and luxurious, especially at the pacific floors, fast internet and friendly staff (also to the girls)

Will I return? Yes

NO

My usual Starwood hotel options were full in Jakarta as well as some of the better North Jakarta options (e. G. Novotel, Mercure), so I ended up trying the Sparks Hotel (http://www.sparks-hotel.com/) located on Mangga Besar. Even they were full, so I ended up having to book a Junior Suite at Rp760, 000/night.

The hotel advertises itself as as a "funky urban designer" hotel, which is mostly reflected in the tones of paint used in the rooms. Other than that, I didn't see much to set Sparks apart.

Check-in was painless. Accepts MC, Visa and AMEX. Room was supposed to include Internet, but all they gave me was a coupon for 1 hour of usage. Room was spacious, but did not really constitute a "suite" room as there was no separation between living and sleeping areas. (Hence Junior Suite, I guess.) The bed was okay, but pillows were of the firm foam type. The bathroom featured a bath with an odd shower where the shower head pulled out with a tube from the tub, not very easy. So the room failed on my two most basic acceptance criterion. No comfortable bed and no strong hot shower.

To add to that, my room was located in proximity to the disco, which meant that my room was pounded with a muffled bass way past 3am. When I checked out, the clerk told me that they were working on soundproofing the disco, but I believe that this problem would not be fixed easily. On the bright side, the disco looked interesting. I spotted some nice girls travelling the elevators.

The hotel is located within walking distance to Lokasari, so if you are targeting the talent at Today Country or Mille's, it's an easy walk. Of course all the other Kota area delights (Hotel Travel, Pen-J, Jalan Industri) are within very short taxi rides. I can confirm that the hotel is girl friendly. No issue with bringing in the girl and no hassle for ID check nonsense.

Overall, I would give this hotel a miss unless I fell into the situation that brought me there in the first place: desperate for a room.

Enjoy Jakarta,

AsianRain

What is the proximity to "fun" places?

If you like in house mongering, then Alexis is the closest. But the price tag for mongering would be on a higher side. Lots of reports on Alexis are here. The other alternative is to stay in Kota area and commute. Maybe you can try Jayakarta or Mercure. Its in the heart of the red light district.

Adding to the info of JA, I would mention Sheraton Media/Gunung Sahari. Very near to the Expo grounds and across the street of Jl Industri 9/11 if you leave the hotel through the exit at the back of the hotel.
Hotel Travel, TC, Bintang Mawar and other Kota venues, are within 10 minutes with a taxi if there's no traffic jam.

As I have read in the forum Alexis is on a high side and given the economic situation, I might be able to find better deals for mongering in Kota. I have stayed in the Kota area several times and it was always satisfying. I might choose to stay there again and commute to the Expo site.

Just a question, rough estimate on taxi fare from say Jayakarta to the Expo site?

i'm afraid your old happy hunting ground in jalan industri has long since shut up shop...i walked across to queen massage from the sheraton yesterday. ruko #29, #31, #39 and #40 were in operation. the girls were not lounging outside as they had done in the past, but i peeked in the doors to confirm the presence of girls. i didn't partake, so unless they have changed their service offering, it would appear that there is still life here. i did look over to the ruko which miss cici used to operate from, and it seemed to be closed. she had left for greener pastures long ago anyway, so no loss.

Any help to finalise a GF hotel near to the center of action. Hotel Amaris, Atlet, Mercure, Golden Boutique?

Or Sparks Hotel?. Budget around 50$ and GFE with relatively new hotel. From the RTFF it looks like, near the Block M Amaris hotel and near Kota Sparks hotel, and both are GFE and near action and around 50$.

Yes, the hotel voucher counters would be open. In terms of Melawai hotel, if you pick up a girl and take her to your room from the bar on the 6th floor or whether you go over to the 6th floor and she takes you to the rooms belonging to maribaya, the charges are the same, IDR 400K. And in case you bring a girl from outside, they dont charge anything extra.

Its not closed. Its in the heart of the red light district. And there's gonna be action there on 31st night. But its more of club with rooms available there In fact every joint in Hayam Wuruk will have action. But got to be careful if you are a foreigner, especially in Hayam Wuruk. And for the first time the new year is going to happen after the Porn Law was passed. I would avoid Hayam Wuruk during the new year. Maybe will go there next year for the new year, if the porn law enforcers do not attack this year.

Maybe I can answer some of the question in this forum. I arrived around 11:00 pm at night on 27/12/2008. The only counter open was Indotel, they stay open until the last flight. Kaha was closed, they close at 10:00 pm, and their Blok M office isn't open on weekends. They also have a counter at Gambir and Indotel is no longer at Gambir, don't know where they are.

Does anyone 'on the ground' have any intel on this hotel? Room rates, internet costs, location close to the action? I go a link from another forum but it provides no info on their hotel. Maybe closed: confused:

http://www.suncityjakarta.com

Non Olet: How much were the rooms at the SARI?

I made my reservations through internet directly with Sari Pan Pacific. Cheapest rate I payed during a week-end was U$ 84 and most expensive rate during the week U$ 124, both for a suite room on the pacific floor.

It worked for me. Perhaps it's blocked from where you're at? Here's a cut and paste:

Josephine's?? I went there once while looking for a place to stay in South Jakarta. It is supposed to be a boarding house (rumah kos). But if they do have change the purpose, then it is a great addition. It is located very near to Bakmi Gajah Mada, in the same street as Hotel Melawai I and II.

Hotel Asri: They quoted 143K about 3 years ago. Very well located if you want privacy, but bad value for the money. Dirty sheets (not refreshen?), bad bathrooms.

Maybe other members can ad their comments?

Thanks for the update on Bintang Baru, Memeber # 3088. Glad to know that you are back in town and active!

After my internet search, I visited Pondok Nirwana on Jl. MT Hartono. To get there one has to go down to the Cawang interchange( avoiding the toll road) and take a U-turn back heading back in the same direction that you come from. Just before the Carrefour at Pacoran, is a new Shell gas station and the lane for Pondok Nirwana is immediately after this with a small painted sign with the initials PN.

Once inside there are a series of motel style rooms but unlike Hillside, the other drive in motel in Fatmawati, you don't have a drive through reception office but are guided by the staff hanging around to the room that is vacant. You drive into a kind of a garage and the guys pulls the shutter behind you and opens the room. The current rate is 240k for 6 hours.

The rooms are large and clean but very basic and bare with a queen-size bed and a couple of chairs and a small fridge. There was a food menu around but I didn't look since I wasn't there to eat (food I mean lol). No porn movies- Tidak bisa, I was told. There were two mirrors along the walls, one along the full-length. The bathrooms were a bit run down though clean.

All in all, it a place you might use in a pinch as it is along drive. I used it because I picked up the girl from Pasar Festival. Hillside is preferable, if you are in Blok M or that side of town. Obviously, both work if your are a mongerer with a car able to drive yourself through town.

Hi guys

First off, I'd like to thank all you guys that have been posting here.

We're off on a 2 week long mongering expedition later this month (jakarta, Singapore & Bangkok). Will post our experiences later.

I've been going thru this section and haven't been able to come to a conclusion. So I request someone to guide me.

We're looking to pay 100USD (less if poss) for our rooms in Jakarta. The Sari Pan Pacific looks great because of the huge rooms / suites. More fun and room for the after party

Is this a good place to stay in? Is it GF? Is it close to the action (Shangri-La is the best place I gather for the non professional scene, that's what we're into.)

Also have been told about a place called Amulya. Any idea where this is? Supposed to be great for the freelancers.

Also what are the must do's when in Jakarta.

Would appreciate any and all information.

Thanks again for your time and effort.

MonsterFish,

You really should have RTFF. All of those details are here.

All hotels are girl friendly with the exception of the odd Syariah hotel. The hotel you refer to is not Amulya but Mulia Senayan. I believe it is out of your budget unless you have special rates there. There are plenty of hotels with decent sized rooms within your budget - check with Indotel or Kaha. It depends on what you want to do and where you're going (since the traffic can be really bad at the wrong time). Check on Park Lane, Manhattan, Gran Melia, Sari Pacific, Sultan, Le Meridien; you can also check out some serviced apartments like Puri Casablanca, Aryaduta Suites Semanggi, Somerset Grand Citra and quite a few besides which will work out at less than USD100 per bedroom and have a decent living/dining area to "party". Indotel has a website - you can find the URL on this thread. Kaha doesn't. Both have booths at the airport (Indotel before customs and Kaha after).

Yes

NO

I have been home sick with the flu for 3 days and doing alot of research for an upcoming trip that might include Indonesia, in May or June. I have researched the scene extensively, but seem to be unable to figure out how close to the action this hotel is, or any other hotel is for that matter. Good rates for a quality hotel and many others have vouched for it's girl friendliness. Good to know there might be some close by options in the hotel building. How far from is this hotel from Blok M and other places? Not adverse to taking taxi's, but prefer a central location to a variety of action.

Right, but a taxiride takes you 15 to 20 minutes during evening hours to block M and approx 50 Krups (= 3 Euro) one way. There are always blue bird taxi's stand by at the hotel and when you go back (with or without lady) just order a bluebird at the bar.

Thanks for the clarification. I do believe I will search for an area closer to BlokM and just focus on a smaller area while I am there. Good chance I am going to spit a 2.5 week holiday between Indonesia and Philippines, anyways. From all the posts I have read, I am sure there is enough in that general area to keep me occupied the entire time, if that is what I wish. I did find a Jakarta map with hotel listings near the various entertainment areas, so that will help things considerably.

Take note that hotels along Sudirman are de facto along the express busway which is the fastest way Kota to Blok M during rush hours. It will be cheaper and quicker than a taxi during these times. Hence, Sari Pacific, Nikko, Mandarin Oriental, Le Meridien, Grand Hyatt (expensive), Sahid Jaya are all a short walk away from the nearest busway stop.

Upon further reflection and advice, I think I will actually stay closer to BlokM. Looks like Le Meridien has reasonable enough rates. Better than Pan Pacific, actually.

Well it's not the best map, but better than I have found, previously. This when combined with other hotel resources, it is easier to figure out how close places actually are. Also a pretty comprehensive source for info on BlokM.

Any recommedation for Shangri-La Hotel?
Recommendation? (with an 'n'). It's a nice hotel and has some decent restaurants, however it is not cheap. If someone else was paying, I'd be happy to stay here; however, if you're paying out of your own pocket, there are other nearby hotels (such as Le Meridien) that are almost as nice but much cheaper.

One advantage is that the famous (or infamous) BATS pub/night club is located in the basement, where many young lovelies will ask you for 1 million rupiah for ST. Don't pay that much! If you negotiate, you should be able to get the price down to less than half that amount.

Remember, if those same lovelies can't find a customer at BATS, they can often be found at Blok M later in the evening for a much lower price.

Hi guys,

I am soon coming to Jakarta and will stay in JW Marriott? Any specific remarks on this hotel about bringing back girls in the room?

As I am not living in Jakarta, is this hotel far away from places such like BATS, Top Gun, Red Square, ?

Regarding questions to girls, I have some but I posted it in Jakarta Reports, any answers would be appreciated

Best regards,

I think I answered by own query!

First night last night. Hotel is good value, & altho arrived very late (midnight) Stix in the basement was still swinging. Good live band & at least 5 decent girls available.

Not many mongers around so it wasn't too hard to get lucky. Quoted 500k & ended up with 2 for 700 for an hour & a half of good fun. Not quite GFE but very friendly & reasonable service. No walkof shame as elevator services rooms easily, but if you were bringing in take out the walk to the lifts is a long one!

Traffic here is horrendous soI now unerstand how you can spend all night in a taxi just getting around.

Cheers & good hunting

This from the past page and a half alone.

I wonder could the Admin put the following message in a big bold headline above this section for the benefit of newbies who clearly can't be bothered to do the most basic and simple research but instead assume that the rest of us are here to answer their same dumb questions time after time:

I typed in "Marriott" in the search function and came up with half a dozen posts that clearly indicate that the Marriott is a suitable hotel for gentlemen who like to take women other than their wives back to their room for sex.

A mere page below where you asked your question Master Diver II, a senior member no less, kindly posted the statement for the benefit of others

"All hotels are girl friendly with the exception of the odd Syariah hotel.".

Could we make it more easy for you? It's all there folks, just read the freakin' forum!

My suspicion is that the reverse also happens. ie. the cuter girls start off at the Blok for STs then move on to the higher end hotels for repeat performaces. I've nothiced that all the better looking girls tend to dissapear from the Blok at around midnight not to be seen again.

Hear hear. I dont understand why some people find it so difficult to RTFF since the information is clearly accessible. Take note that a lot of these questions come from newbies or lurkers from other forums. So to put this matter to rest:

ALL HOTELS IN JAKARTA ARE GIRL FRIENDLY WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE ODD SYARIAH HOTELS (THE ONLY ONES I KNOW OF ARE THE SOFYAN HOTELS)!

Incidentally, the "walk of shame" is not really very shameful in Jakarta unless you bump into someone you know. I have a couple of porters (at one of the hotels I stay in) who discuss with me regarding the various merits of the girls whom they have seen me with.

You'll also see a lot of girls who haven't found "someone" at BATS/CJs/30(?) - haven't been to Tiga Puluh in ages so I wonder if there is anything there -and other such places either head back to Blok M or Stadium. Sometimes they want a quick one from the Blok so they can afford to go and get wild on E at Stadium (haven't we seen that one before with a certain friend, JAD;)?).

I have the money to pay what they want but I agree with you I don't want to stuff up the market price. What would be a fair price for LT and what time of the night should I leave the premises to get an all nighter.

Thanks for any response. I will let you all know how things go.

Depending on time of night and day of week, fair price is 500-800K but given your circumstance I know you'll end up saying yes to one juta!

Good luck and remember Bats girls end up at Blok M after closing time (and for less).

PS - since you have money to blow, politely suggest you pay jackson and get pm privileges.

Hi,
Hope I am not too late with this info but closer to Blok M you should try Hotel Ambhara. I stayed there during the New Year and the hotel is great. Clean rooms, good gym, good breakfast, staff very friendly etc. etc. all for $55.00 USD (booked at KAHA). It within walking distance to the Mall and to Blok M. However, be warned, while the 'walk of shame' starts in the lobby of most hotels, the 'walk of shame' starts from Blok M with your lady.

I can second that this is a great value for money. In the hotel bar the staff is also very helpful, even with mongering topics. But if you walk in instead of booking with Kaha you end up paying a lot more.

That's a decent price for the Ambhara. I paid about $15-$20 more when I last stayed a few years back. Perhaps it's the strength of the dollar, or business is slowing down.

I stayed at the Gran Mahakam hotel last month which is within easy walking distance to Blok M. Had three different girls stay with me over my seven night stay and no problem with the hotel staff. One girl moved in for three days and parked in the hotel u/g parking.

Hey guys,

Just joined this site and this is my first posting. Will be in Jakarta in April 2009 and plan to stay at the FM 1 Boutique hotel. No pictures of the room or lobby etc, except for the building. Is this hotel good and clean for a couple of nights stay. Any kind of information including girls and so on is appreciated.

Cheers!

No problem, clean, cheap and modern, the beds are a bit lightweight so you'll find yourself halfway across the room if you go for a vigorous session. Is it the one in Menteng or Cikini? Either way you'll be a little bit away from the usual action areas but nothing a Bluebird taxi ride won't sort out. If it's Menteng step outside and stroll up to the street food vendor area after 8pm you'll meet plenty of young local people there and who knows? You might hit lucky.

That´s the original one. No problem whatsoever about girls. There´s a karaoke, so in-house service may not be a problem.
BTW, there´s at least one report about that hotel. So RTFF.

Oh sorry, I have provided you with a lot of duff information, I thought you were referring to the Formule 1 Hotel chain, but on re-reading what you wrote I see you're staying at the FM 1 Boutique, a very different hotel in a different location, my mistake. I know very little about the FM1 Boutique other than it's a garishly painted hotel on the road in from the airport. I think that someone had some bad report about it in an earlier thread quite where I can't recall but I think you are correct that there certainly is availability on the premises.

My apologies again for the wrong info.

There is no bribe involved to get Visa on arrival. The crowd is so huge waiting for Visa on Arrival, that the Visa issuers have no time to negotiate. Its faster than BAngkok VOA. But in case you pay extra, its welcome.

I think Tony is referring to the FM1 Boutique that is located near Hotel Menara Peninsula. It is the colourful one on your left hand side on the Grogol/Slipi section of the toll-road.

Tony:
Sometimes it comes in handy when you pretend not speak the language. Helps you to get rid of people who try to scam you. Just say: "sorry, no bahasa" and keep smiling.
Alas, there´s a lot of people who has a basic knowledge of English, so it will not be easy to get away.

And that's when you start to speak Spanish. ;)I speak good Indonesian, and find it nothing but an advantage in any situation. I don't believe that foreigners are asked for bribes to get a standard on-arrival visa, I have seen hundreds of people go through immigration and never saw a problem. Because I speak the language, I am much more likely to get local rates , including girls. At immigration, the language comes in handy if you're faced with a 2-hour queue and a chat with the guy in uniform herding the tourists slips you past the queue for 50,000.

They have offices all over Jakarta and also a booth in the airport. When you come out of customs turn left.

It has already been said, wisely, that there is no risk of bribery on the way in. However, there are limited opportunities for bribery on the way in and out and maybe 1 time in 10 they try it out. It makes no difference at all whether you speak BHS or not - they know enough English! I arrived once and there was no empty page in my UK passport to stick the Visa - they need a whole empty page. I was told therefore that I would "have to return". After a 20 hour flight that was not really what I wanted to hear. Upon payment of 25USD (plus the visa payment) I persuaded the guy to stick the visa on the back page "reserved for official observations"

The classic opportunity is at passport control on the way out - the openning question is "have you had a successful trip"? The right answer is "NO....I had a big problem and lost all my money!" They will often leave it at that. If pressed, just say you don't have any money at all - they will accept any currency!

However, if your documentation is not compliant they've got you. There are two traps - both of which I've fallen into myself even though I've been in and out well over 100 times. The first is over staying your visa - it's whole days, not periods of 24 hours. So if you arrive on Monday at 23.59 and leave on Saturday at 00.01 that is 6 days not 5. This enables them to impose a very large fine but they will let you off with a 20 USD payment. Far worse however, is if you lose the tear off piece of the immigration card you get on entry. When I left last time I realised that the airline check-in desk had not given it back to me with my passport - I am "religious" about keeping both documents together. Because I had been shagging in the airport hotel, I was very very late and didn't have time to go back for it. I was facing a 1000 USD fine - the guy even had a pre-printed laminated card to advise of that!! He said he could "help me". Obviously I knew what that meant and after hasty negotiation which started at 500USD I got away with 150USD.

I got away with 150USD.

Yikes! That was a sore touch, I've usually got away with 500,000k Rps or US$50. Like you, despite being a very frequent traveller through Indonesian immigration, I have also been caught out on all of those things and not having a return ticket despite travelling on a VOA visa was another one I hadn't counted on.

Always keep a US$50 bill handy, you simply never know when you'll need to palm it into a passport or customs slip, nine times out of ten you'll have no problem but on the occasion you do have a problem and to be fair there always has been a genuine problem, they have never tried anything on when my papers were in order, it's your 'get out of jail free' voucher.

Oh and a polite apologetic smile helps too, some people say jabbing his chest with your finger and shouting loudly in English that you are a personal friend of the general in charge of the immigration department is the most effective way, well perhaps, me, I like playing it safe and fifty bucks is a cheap price to pay for a quiet life.

Bulai69
03-15-09, 11:48
Dorman - you are right of course, to be honest I could have got away with a lower payment but the guy looked at my boarding pass and knew my plane was just about to leave and I was in a weak bargaining position! The fact I was flying business class didn't help. I think 50 USD is a good benchmark price to bribe at this level.

Your additional point about return ticket is worth noting for those unfamiliar - it's much more likely to arise with "e" tickets - you need a print out of your booking showing the return journey. This is asked for at passport control coming in, not the VOD desk.

No its not. Blok M is on one end of Sudirman and Sari Pan Pacific os on the other end. The distance between these two is about 15 to 17 km. But it is in the busway corridor. During night times after 10 pm you might make it in 20 to 25 minutes by a cab. In day time it might take an hour or two by a cab, depending on the traffic.

Got back from Jakarta a month ago so sorry for the delay, stayed at Park lane hotel in casablanca, kuningnan, previously I rented an apartment for a month in Taman Rasuna good value at 6mill for the month and had a great two bedroom apartment with balcony and view but parklane sufficed for my two week stay.

Had around 20 numbers from off a couple of chat sites and had sorted them into two lists, definetly's and maybe's, I think I only paid twice in my two weeks, typical day went like this, wake up mid day send last nights shag on her way by making up an excuse, business meeting or something, then get some food into me and arrange to meet next victim at nearby mall for coffee or better still invited them straight up to my room first date. Seduce and shag victim in room (not hard in Jakarta) then answer previously set mobile alarm wich sounds like a call and make excuse. Have to go. Walk her down to taxi and then back up for victim two of the day. This worked well except for one day when second victim turned up early while first still in room! But being the quick thinker I am I answerd the door quickly stepped outside and said I was getting a massage can she wait in the lobby for 30 minutes, then back inside to tell victim number one that it was room service wanting to make up room and that she might as well get going as I had business dinner, always gave them 100-200k for taxi depending how far they had come.

Then after banging victim two of the day would (yep you guessed it) make up excuse and walk her down to taxi around 10pm leaving me free to head to blok m my fav haunt, where I would concentrate on waitresses not the WG's. I need a challenge or its just not the same, Two bars in particular I really had a good thing going with the waitresses and took home three different ones over the two weeks, near the end one of them wanted to bring along two of the other waitresses for a 'party' in my hotel room saying they all wanted to be fucked but by this time I was literaly shagged and just wasnt into it.

I'm no stud but in good shape and buy a bottle for the girls, am pretty funny when I'm drunk and generally flirt with them all giving them positions on the Rude grid as to where they were in the pecking order. Hehe. Humour goes a long way with indo girls I've found.

Went to staduim couple of times but never really had a good time there this time around, maybe because I went alone hopeing to find something there, whenever to went with a 'date' well hell there babes giving me the eye all over but when I was alone, Murphy's law set in and there was slim pickings.

I usually have an E when I go there. Sometimes 2 if I know the guy I'm getting it off. Good stuff. Take a trip and never leave the farm. And its true what they say about chicks getting super horny on that stuff. Wow.

So that was me basicly, two weeks of freebies and waitresses, oh I took two WG's from MY BAR one night and one turned into a clingon, next night she was pleading for me to take her with me as she had nowhere to stay and said she would go for free and that I could do her in the rear. Again. But as you guys well know in Jakarta its a case of 'So many women so little time' did take the other one home though as she was new to the block and wouldn't let me do her the previous night just watched me and clingon go at it, I met her as I was about to go home second night and she hushed me into a taxi and said she really liked me but didn't want her friend to know I told her I didn't want sex that night but she could come stay she said sure. Of course I had her in the morning and she was so nice and tight. Only 18 really nice girl actually. Gave her 200k for the 'taxi'

The distance between these two is about 15 to 17 km. But it is in the busway corridor. During night times after 10 pm you might make it in 20 to 25 minutes by a cab. In day time it might take an hour or two by a cab, depending on the traffic.

You mean of course about 5 to 7 kilometres.

No Dorman. I actually measured the total KM from Ratu Plaza end of Sudirman to Hotel Indonesia Circle andit was @ 10 km. Sari Pan Pacific is @ 1 km, rather 1100 metres from Hotel Indonesia circle, though it looks close. From the Ratu Plaza end of Sudirman, Blok M is around 4 to 6 kms is my guess. I have not measured this stretch. I was myself surprised at the length of Jl. Sudirman.

Can any one tell me if the Sari Pacific hotel is within walking distance to block M? Also what is the hotel it's self like?

Cheers

I stayed there once and it was O.K. -- decent rooms, service and restaurant -- good but not great. I did not think it was good value for the money. For $50 or $60 more you can stay at the Mulia, Hyatt, Shangrila, among others. Or for $50 less you could stay at Atlet Century Park -- while the rooms aren't as nice, I like the restaurants, amenities and location as much or more than the Pan Pacific.

Regarding location, John already answered your question about distance to Blok M. I think it's actually closer to the hot spots in North Jakarta than to Blok M, but not convenient to either. The hotel is close to Jalan Jaska and a few bars and Karaoke's where you should find some easy women. Also there's the McDonalds across the street, and the Hard Rock Cafe is fairly close. But these aren't great mongering spots. I checked out the Pit Stop bar at hotel several nights and didn't have any luck -- it seemed like more of a local scene -- not any women looking for foreigners, or at least ones like me that don't speak the language.

Stayed a few nights there about a year ago. I thought it was a great place. Better than Atlet Century, but not the top of the line. Atlet is a better value, the rooms are large (although a bit older), the restraunt is good, for about $30/night less.

I guess we've gotten away from Limp's question, but then this is the hotel section. If the Sari Pan Pacific is only $30 more now, then I'd agree, the Atlet is better value, but not by a long shot. What I liked about the Atlet:

1. Senayan Mall is at your back door.
2. A park is at your front door.
3. C.J.'s is around the corner and Blok M is a short taxi ride away.
4. Good, reasonably priced food in the buffet restaurant
5. Business center is cheap and personnel are efficient.
6. There is no walk of shame. You just walk in the back door from the Senayan mall side and take the elevator up to the room. You don't have to worry whether that cute receptionist you're trying to date will find out about your latest Blok M ****.
7. They have the amenities of a much more expensive hotel -- Olympic swimming pool, tennis courts, and a health club. Aside: I once saw several drop dead beautiful masseuses there, but the only time I tried it out I was assigned a real dog, and she wanted US$100 for a HJ.

You can try Hotel Losari, which is bang opposite Blok M Plaza. Or try Ambhara, whoich is a bit on the higher side. The other alternative is just check into Hotel Melawai and the 6th floor has the Maribaya and behind it there are a whole lot of Karaoke Bars. Jl Falatehan is walking distance, in case you cut across. If not a Bajaj will cost you IDR 5K which is less than half a dollar.

Must have!
The main difference between South America and Indonesia is the assortment of the color of skin of the local girls that comes with their origin. Here you have snowwhite till pitch black everywhere, while in Indonesia there's less variety. It's more like only locals (from Sabang to Merauke) and Chinese.

Planning a Jakarta weekend trip mainly for mongering. Was planning on staying at the Mercure or the Hotel Atlet Century to be close to the action ( though the latter actually looks a little far from Blok M- http://jakartablokm.com/guides/hotel-map.htm).

But when I went to the internet sites for both hotels, the prices look a little higher than previously (Mercure is 660,000, the Atlan Century only has $77++ rooms for when I will be there). Noticed that the Intercontinental is having a
"Stay for 2 nights, pay for one" special through AsiaTravel.com - http://www.asiatravel.com/indonesia/intercontinental_midplaza/index.html
so that would bring the cost per night down to $75, including taxes- that's a great rate for that good a hotel. However, how far is it from the action, and what is the walk of shame like?

Thanks in advance.

I always stay at the Atlet and find it to be very GFF. The walk of shame is only what you make of it. There is a back enterance and I have never had GF get checked going in and/or harassed leaving.
The Atlet is close by CJ's and both Senayen Plaza and Senayen City malls.
Not too far by taxi to Block M.

Nice hotel, pillow menu, quiet location with a couple of options on transport. Very near the busway stop in case you need to get through the traffic. Nearest places: Tiga Puluh, BATS (5 mins at night by cab). Blok M can be accessed by busway, and when you come back late night, the reception area is quiet so not much of a walk of shame. $75 a night is dirt cheap for this place.

You can rent a room at the Airport hotel. The joint is not bad. A bit pricey at $90. Rooms are large, clean, comfy. Take a nap and get a shower. They used to have a 6-hour rate, less than the full rate. Not sure anymore about that lesser rate.

Several lounges at JKT airport accept you for a $ 10 note (but they have no showers). At the departure level in the public area at the end of the domestic section is a spa where you can take a good massage and shower (so before you go into the check in area). The airport hotel also offers massage.

I stayed there a few months ago and got a very cheap deal but it's not in a very good location for mongering, at least not where I usually go. It's worth remembering that there is no point in saving 20USD a night on the room and paying that in taxi fares. There is no problem taking girls in of course. This is the info you need for the Garuda business lounge at jarkata, this is for their business class or garuda member only info is on google but you are too lazy to search.

GARUDA INDONESIA Lounge Review Customer Rating = from 1. 0 (very poor) to 5. 0 (excellent) Lounge Comfort Bar & Beverages Catering

Washroom/Showers

Internet / Wifi

Staff Service Visited the lounge 3 times in July. Not a bad facility. Not the best, but serves its purpose. Gets really crowded in the peak morning departure times, but quiet at other periods. Staff quite friendly but not much chat with customers. A fair choice of hot and cold food, but needs to be improved to match airlines such as Malaysia, Cathay, Singapore etc. Small smoking room area, nice bar area at one end and 2 internet terminals = wifi not working when I visited the lounge. Washrooms very basic, and the 1 shower room was so unpresentable that I preferred not to use it! Not bad for Garuda, but they could so much better!

this hotel is next to the sheraton in jl industri.

the hotel has a spa/massage on the third floor. access to the third floor is by the elevator via the hotel restaurant.

once you exit the lift on the third floor you are met by a reception desk where you will be asked if you want a 1 hour massage. you will be offered either standard room rp150k (no shower) deluxe room rp175k (private shower) or vip room rp200k shower, tv etc.

other features of most spa’s are found here. hot and cold plunge pools, bar and video lounge.

therapists are randomly offered by their number. you can describe the type you want and hope for the best.

full service is a rp300k tip given to the therapist.

of the girls i saw and had they were quite attractive. the service was very good. massage was excellent.

if you are staying in the hotel you can order a private massage to your room. price for the massage is rp150k. the room rate is about rp400k

Here's a partial repeat from the main Jakarta thread.

I moved out of the IC, and tried out the Red Top Hotel, next to one of my favorite restaurants, Golden Kitchen. A couple of weeks ago, I had checked it out when a another forum member was looking for a room. They had a package with breakfast and dinner for two, plus internet for 690k net.

Checking out dinner with a friend, we were given a paltry menu of just a few 20k meals at the restaurant downstairs. No drinks, no appetizer, no dessert. A big thumbs down. At least the breakfast the next day was passable.

Overall the hotel is decent, but this package deal kind of sucks, mainly because of the dinner option. They also want 1 million deposit, and some of their liquor prices in the minibar are astronomical. 148k++ each for the little 50ml bottle of spirits. Since I got about 30 of these free from the IC, maybe my perception of cost if skewed. :)

The hotels closeness to Lokasari, Kartika and Hotel Travel is nice, and the great Super Chicken (err, Super Kitchen) resto next door is great for duck, pork and a limited amount of dim sum.

I am a member of Priority Club, but only Gold, not top tier- and I seem to remember the last time I booked and paid through Asia Travel, I didn't get any Priority Club points.

I booked a weekend night at $85 through a local bucket shop. I emailed the hotel with my upcoming stay, gave them my PC number. I got full points, upgrades and minibar. I have a lot of promotions on my account. A few weeks ago, I got 25k points for one night, and this last stay I got 12k.

25k is enough for a free night at many properties (or 2 nights at cheaper ones). They also put out a list of 5k a night hotels every few months, often in $200-$500 a night hotels. I booked the presidential suite for 5k a night that was quite nice!

If you regularly stay at Intercontinental's, I'd certainly pay the $150 to become an Ambassador issue. You get some bonus miles, plus a 5k cert, and a Buy One Get One Free cert, good for weekends. Use this at a $300 property, and it pays for itself immediately. Plus you get a guaranteed 1 level upgrade, plus guaranteed 4pm checkout, fresh fruit and sparking water in your room.

At some locations you may also get a bottle of wine, chocolates, plus a gift when you check in.

There is one higher level, Royal Ambassador, which you can get with 50 nights, and three different IC stays, or you can buy the cert. The main advantage is you get free minibar in most locations, plus a two level upgrade. You also get club access occasionally.

I had asked on here a few months back ago about this place, so thought I'd post a review since I've checked out.

www.takesmansion.com

It's a hotel/serviced apartment setup. You can stay one night if you want, but the real discounts come when you book for 2 weeks or longer. However, they don't prorate anything, so if you stay 16 days as I did, you get the two week rate, plus two single days.

The place is about a stoplight away from Sarinah. It's next to a big canal, which strangely didn't stink at all. It's a pain to get in and out, since it's placement makes you have to go the long way, much of the time because of the one way main street. You can go through some side streets to get to Sarinah, but it's a huge pain in the ass.

The room rates aren't bad, mostly in the range of 200-400k per night for longer periods. The beds are perfect for me, which is nice. Everything else is basic. You get toilet paper, and a small towel, and a bar of soap. The first day they give you two bottles of water.

I had booked a kitchenette for the hell of it, but it was a waste, since they expect you to rent dishes, glasses (which there are none of in the unit) by the week.

Internet costs 50k per day, or 200k per week. You can get a monthly setup, but there's a setup fee. I bought the 7 day one, and then after a week, it wouldn't log me in, so I thought I needed another card. I bought it, and then found that after a couple more attempts the old log in still worked. If anyone needs a week card, let me know.

Service is pretty minimal. You have to ask for room cleaning (only every two days is included), and have to remind them to bring TP.

Laundry is okay. 5k per shirt/pants.

The only other big aggravation is that there are 2 or 3 mosques nearby. Their loudspeakers go on, and on, and on. One day, I was up late, and it was going at 3:40am!

I wouldn't book a bigger room here, because much of the space is wasted. Get just what you need, fridge etc, but don't pay for a bigger room since it's not like you're going to really get much out of it.

If you can live with a basic room, it's fine. Just don't expect much service, and laundry/room service rarely had change.

i've stayed at mercure rekso a few times now and for the first time actually spent some (short) time in the bar in the evening. it appears, against my previous assumptions, that there might be some small degree of action here. there were a few bules loitering around a few syt. saw one guy chatting with 3 of them before disappearing with 2 of them. i began to make contact with the wallflower but not a word of english so i didn't waste any effort.

not much but might be a cheap option as their market place is limited.

a point to note for anyone planning to book here, they are installing new lifts and refurbishing the area around the existing lifts. not before time. if you plan to sleep in on any morning take your chance with the noise and watch what you do with curtains. i flung open the drapes one morning and found myself face to face with a workman clinging to the ricketty scaffolding 11 floors up.

(also extracted from a posting on the main Jakarta thread)

My first go at an in room massage in any hotel. Decided that my first priority was for a massage and anything else would be a bonus.

Made my call and within 10 minutes answered the door to Anggi. Age about 30 at a guess but whose counting? Looked very proper in her spa uniform. Turns out the uniform was concealing a nice tight brown body. Quite attractive but not in the usual working girl way if that makes sense. Not a word of english but that didn't get in the way.

125krp for 50min massage in my room. She had me butt naked and wasn't too long before the scrotum got it's first touch. When I was flipped over on to my back we had a bit of 'accidental' brushing of little brother but I was watching her eyes and she seemed mesmerised by junior. This only gave him courage to stand up and be counted. Then came the upsell...

500krp for FS agreed by my little brother with little argument from me but I concede it was over the going rate, sorry guys. She gave excellent value though but I think after another 10 mins of DATY she would have been paying me LOL. As it was we severely ran over the alloted time. It was very amusing to watch the panic as she gathered up her things and ran down the corridor. She ended up dripping wet and came 3 times before we fucked. If it wasn't for the cost of the extras I would probably ask for her again (or maybe, now that I know they are on offer, arrange a price for the extras before little brother gets in on the act).

You can order this massage up to 12 midnight.

Same, SK. Got to Atlet around noon and first thing I did was call for massage. 150K for 90 min massage in-room. You can get the same massage out by the pool. 10 mins later she showed up, mid 30's, not attractive in any sense. Corporate uniform. But BITCHIN good massage! Near the end she started brushing up against johnson, then asked if I wanted 'special massage'. I wasn't in the mood, politely declined, then she moved on to give me the best scalp massage I've ever had. Dare I say it was the best overall massage I've ever had. Tipped her 50K to her big smile and off she went. Made my day right there.

Next day (evening) called and ordered another massage. Different girl showed 10 mins later. Stunner. Tall, well-built, late 20's. Beautiful smile. Same bitchin good massage, outstanding hands. Great english, loved to gab with me while working. We talked politics (local election time) and religion. I must have fallen asleep, I awoke to her loving hands and soft voice, singing quietly along to the call to prayer song outside. Same uniform. Not an accidental brush against johnson, but loving strokes against the boys, and asked if i wanted 'special service'. Again I politely declined and said regular massage was fine. A minute later she returned there and asked if I wanted any special services. I said no again, she started smiling and said she was 'available for anything you want'. I love a girl with good english! I declined again, and a minute later she was right back at it. You might think that would [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) me off, the repeated declines, but it was a fun moment for both of us, she kept smiling and playing with johnson and the boys. I finally asked if after the massage she was returning to the pool or going home. She said she was going home. I invited her out to dinner, she politely declined, and offered 'anything you want' again. I was pulling my clothes on by then, and asked her how much for everything (just to see what she would ask for). She said, "you decide". I said, 'no, tell me how much you want?' She again said, "You say." There was never any mention of price. I tipped her 50K and she was on her way.

I got several more massages while there over the next few days. $15 for a 90-minute massage is just too good to pass up. Several different women, same routine all; special service offered at end (often times offered 'any what you want'). The second girl showed up on two occasions, almost begging on the second occasion for some 'special service', and she would not mention a price. I declined all the lady's requests for special service. I love a good massage and don't like sex to be a part of it. I hate places that offer massage, then special service at the end, and the girl is not good or trained at massage.

If you want a good massage, I recommend this joint.

(taken from my report on the jakarta thread)

i've stayed at mercure rekso a few times now and for the first time actually spent some (short) time in the bar in the evening. it appears, against my previous assumptions, that there might be some small degree of action here. there were a few bules loitering around a few syt. saw one guy chatting with 3 of them before disappearing with 2 of them. i began to make contact with the wallflower but not a word of english so i didn't waste any effort.

not much but might be a cheap option as their market place is limited.

a point to note for anyone planning to book here, they are installing new lifts and refurbishing the area around the existing lifts. not before time. if you plan to sleep in on any morning take your chance with the noise and watch what you do with curtains. i flung open the drapes one morning and found myself face to face with a workman clinging to the ricketty scaffolding 11 floors up.

skdo they have a free internet connection?

Hi Norman2

Do they have a free Internet connection?

There is free wi fi in the lobby and bar area (maybe also the restaurant) but conection in the room is chargeable. I didn't use it this time and cannot remember the cost, sorry.

they do have free wi-fi, but you need to go to the lobby area or the 1st level restaurant to use it. i also got the fastest speeds i've had in jakarta. don't hide in the bar on the lobby level though, no or terrible reception underneath the ledge.

there is the in room broadband connection, but it isn't really cheap, and when i asked for a voucher, i was given the hint about the lobby. great hotel service :).

i did enjoy this hotel. good rooms (apart from the need for some amateur plumbing work to be able to take a shower). decent rates - cheaper than the normal favourite (atlet) which has increased rates markedly lately. a pain to get to from the airport, but a good run back. if you have a desire for getting to senayan, go semi native and get the busway right outside the front door. otherwise, use the bluebird 24/7 taxi rank/gathering point *at* the front door.

made life nicer this trip, as i just had to walk up the road from the last stop of the night (stadium) rather than try staying awake on the busway or taxi all the way back to the other end of town.

Is there a decent bar or something !Yes, many bars. And lots of pretty P4P faces. Ambhara is opposite blok M.

If that girl says it has a bad reputation, it may be that's she's meaning it girlie-wise, referring to the blok P4P scene. Does she have a decent job? If no, bet she's fearing competition.

The internet service is not so good in Ambhara. Expensive. 65k for one hour of internet, 175k for whole day.

Vibrators are best to be brought from overseas. Has to do with the quality of the average vib in Indo.

I took some toys with me from UK on my last trip. Nothing too extreme, a regular Vibro and a small G spot tickler. It was my intention to play with them with my AFF friends. Without exception, each girl I tried them with were against them. 1 even recoiled in fright. Go figure.

I'm sure not all of them are reluctant to give it a try because I had different experiences. I started by inviting them to do an experiment and touched their pussies with the vibrator from the outside while they were still fully clothed. They got curious and the rest is history. Their favorite was the vibrator with the clit-tickler. BTW, I bought this last one in Glodok, Kota area, and paid 250K and left it with the one who screamed (!) the loudest when enjoying it :D

That would save me the trouble of carrying them. Can anyone give me a better idea where the shop is? Mind you, they're selling the durex vibrating ring everywhere now. So far, only had a couple of negative responses - but plenty of positive responses:D; it depends how they're introduced to the idea and the first time they feel it.

I just left Jarkata after a one week stay, first 2 night stay at the Olympic Hotel near Lospasiri Plaza around the corner from TC 2700 is the rate for a business room, they didn't make up my room when I return around 7. Pm both night and miss my wake up call at 5. Am, so I check out and move to spark hotel across the st for the next 4 night, this is a much better hotel and service a much better good location near Hotel Travel and Karitka, I was at hotel travel the last 4 night and it was pack every night with over 100 girl in this place cost is only 285,000 for dlx room and 325, 000 for vip room for one hr, girl here is not as pushy for tip like the girl at Karitka girl there want 100,000 tip in top of the 300,000 rp, I think for vaule and quality hotel travel is the best place in Jarkata for me so far, I like to stay a few more day but I have to go back to China for more buisness and mongering.

I've stayed at many hotels in the TC area over the years. Princen Park was probably my least favorite because of the crappy beds. The folk there were nice enough, enough.

The Olympic was so-so. I was put off a bit by the refusal to actually show you a room. You look in the book and choose. The room was okay, but you can hear the thumping sound from the KTV far into the night.

The Sparks was a bit better, but quite a bit more expensive. If you go through an agency, you may pay $40-$45. The rates direct through them, are usually much more expensive. They give you free internet (1 hour?) if you pay the nosebleed rate, otherwise, forget it.

They've also hit up a lot of mongers for BS charges. Sheets that were messed up, and stuff in my mini-bar was messed up a few years ago. Always check first when you get to the room.

I stayed at the Arwana a few years back, and it was decent value at 260k. It's on the same street as Hotel Travel.

On my last trip, April 09, I got a rate of 530krp per night at the Mercure Rekso. Pretty good value in my humble opinion.

The only disadvantage I can see is that a few of the contacts I have made on AFF are reluctant to go there for 2 reasons:

1. Hotel is in a 'bad' area.
2. Hotel is too far to go from the main area.

I like it for self funded trips but will always go to Shangri-la when business is paying.

Arwana is around the corner, on the same road that Hotel Travel is on (Manga Besar something or another). The hotels that are actually on the premises are the Olympic and Princen Park. Not counting the short time rooms of TC, Bintang Mawar, etc.

I think spark hotel is a better options, it is a better hotel more expensive is across the st from the Lopasari plaza and walking distance to the hotel travel and Katrika and other massage place.

The Melawai hotel is a dump cheaper hotel near blok M and many KTV in the area and the famous 6th massage place, I check it out last month girl quality is not as good as the hotel travel and is more expensive.

Please note that there are two Melawai hotels, Melawai I and Melawai II.

Melawai I is where the famous Maribaya Spa is located (6th Floor) and yes this hotel is getting a little run-down. Melawai II is located directly across the street and is a bit nicer; last time I checked, you could get a room here for under 400,000 rupiah per night, of course prices are always subject to change.

Hotel Melawi; Really bad. Hey MSpearman!...How are you? I had the opportunity to stay at the 'better' HM and it was really bad. I would not recommend, at all.

But it's like apples and oranges. HM is is south JKT and is not very nice; both of them. Sparks is a designer hotel that is truly awesome – and is not that expensive – Plus it's located in N JKT, which is night and day difference form S JKT. Not as many bules and just a totally different atmosphere.

If you feel more comy with foreigners around, stay in S JKT.

The best way to go N to S and versa visa is to take the bus. They have their on lane and it takes half the time during the day. I can't think of too many worst things than being stuck in a JKT traffic jam! Take the bus! and it's a great way to meet girls.

Some of us quite like the "local", that's why we're here (I've scored three or four times on the Busway, the "local" are quite nice people you know).

Try taking a taxi from Blok M to Kota between 12 noon and 8pm, then compare your time with the Busway, I guarantee you the Busway will be at least three times as fast.

Hello guys,

New at the forum, hopefully be able to out my dues in takes some pictures and names for the forum. Anyways I am going to Jakarta soon and I am actually staying either at the Sheraton or the Ascot apartments. I brought some girls (though fairly modestly) with me in the past but since I am a young guy (23) the might have thought those where just girlfriends (I mostly like working girls because I do not like the hassle of getting into the personal stuff, had an ex girlfriend straight from hell and really not into the drama or commitment).

Anyways are 5 star hotels in Jakarta generally non judgmental when it comes to girls. Do I need to buy a long raincoat to cover them up to keep the complaints at a minimum.

And if so where are the hotels where I could take some girls. Are there by the hour/part of the day places that arent completely and utterly toxic.

Sorry for posting such in such a mmm virgen like manner but I would really appriciate some help.

I consider the Sheraton Media my home away from home when I stay in Jakarta. The staff there is superb (especially if you stay on the club floor) and completely girl friendly. When I was there last week, one of the staff members quietly commented on the quality of one of my take-homes. They are cool. I looked at a number of agencies when I was in Jakarta in the spring. I didn't find Hyatt discounted at all. I wanted to check it out, and ended up paying $150++. You can find some hotels, like the IC at a bit of a discount. I'd guess there might be a sale on some hotels, after the bombing, though.

Stayed at the Mercure in Kota- thought I would post an update since it's a popular monger hotel.

Pros-
- $40 a night room rate
- no hassles bringing girls back to the hotel.
- close proximity to all the Kota attractions- Lokasari Plaza, Hotel Travel, Kartika, etc.
- nice pool and a decent massage at the spa.

Cons-
- major construction going on now- they are adding two new elevators, and meanwhile everyone has to share the two existing lifts.

BTW, speaking of Hotel Travel, has anyone stayed there? Looks like a legit business hotel, and would be a convenient place to stay...

Gran Mahakam (www.granmahakam.com) is a 4 star hotel in south Jakarta managed by Sofitel.

It’s very close to Blok M and CJ’s, about 45 minutes from the airport and about the same from Kartika and Stadium, add another 10 minutes to get to Alexis hotel.
There’s a roof top pool, small but nice and verdant. My room, a deluxe, was very clean although not particularly spacious.

I once took a girl in around 2am: the staff checked her handbag and had her pass through the metal detector, but didn’t ask for ID.

Booked it through booking.com

Thank you all for the feedback- I think since my main reason for going is to monger, I'm better off staying at one of the other hotels right by Blok M or Kota. I am a member of Priority Club, but only Gold, not top tier- and I seem to remember the last time I booked and paid through Asia Travel, I didn't get any Priority Club points.Asia Travel has been known as a scam for years. They claim to offer discounts but you are better off booking directly at the hotel of your choice. Cheaper for you and the hotel makes more money (and is therefor happier with you as a client); go figure.

For those who want points, the Crowne Plaza, Intercontinental and maybe other properties in Jakarta are going on sale, starting on Aug 17th. You probably have to book on the www.priorityclub.com site. $50 for the CP, $78 for the IC. I'm not sure if this includes taxes or not. Only available for 4 days.

I've booked the IC through local travel agents, and by notifiying the hotel before checking in, I got full benefits and points.

The rates were not initially loaded in, so I had to contact the hotel. The cheapest pricing is on the weekends, $48++ at the Crowne Plaza, and $78++ at the Intercontinental. This sale ends August 21st. You can book online www.ihg.com/asiasale

I had some free nights scheduled at the CP, so added on some more. While not dirt cheap, these are pretty good. And you get full PC benefits and upgrades while you're there.

The Holiday Inn in Bandung, plus hotels in KL and SIN are also on sale.

Asia Travel has been known as a scam for years. They claim to offer discounts but you are better off booking directly at the hotel of your choice. Cheaper for you and the hotel makes more money (and is therefor happier with you as a client); go figure.

Regards,

KoActually, it's always worth checking Asia Travel and the other discount sites, even if you book directly with the hotel, because Intercontinental "price matches" Asia Travel if it is cheaper, plus an additional 10% discount. I've gotten ~40% off the lowest direct price from Crowne Plaza by doing this double check, and submitting a low price guarantee form.

Greetings Everyone,

I recently cleaned up this thread by deleting a number of off-topic and otherwise pointless posts, as well as a number responses made by other forum members to these deleted posts.

This cleanup process is not perfect, and it's possible that I may have inadvertently deleted a few otherwise legitimate posts. If you find that your own report was also deleted, please don't take it personally.

Thanks,

Jackson

Gran Mahakam (www.granmahakam.com) is a 4 star hotel in south Jakarta managed by Sofitel.

It’s very close to Blok M and CJ’s, about 45 minutes from the airport and about the same from Kartika and Stadium, add another 10 minutes to get to Alexis hotel.
There’s a roof top pool, small but nice and verdant. My room, a deluxe, was very clean although not particularly spacious.

I once took a girl in around 2am: the staff checked her handbag and had her pass through the metal detector, but didn’t ask for ID.

Booked it through booking.comThis hotel also had some niteresting massage ladies. They do in room service and also have a place for massage.

First time I was there ( maybe 2 years back).. walked up to receptionist, and she sent me to guest room, massage lady came and within a minute shes accidently brushing my balls. Anyways had fun and she gave me her number. Invited her to my hotel later, and she came with the receptionsist. Now whilst the reception lady didnt want to participate, she was happy to sit in my room and watch me and the massage lady go at it... very enjoyable.

Asiatravel has it listed for 620k. They charged me 600k when I checked in last week. I didn't check Kaha or any of the other local agencies. Accor does have sales every now and again, so you may be able to do better, if you catch them during one of these.

No, you never mentioned that website. That's like saying, "You can find that room for $10 on Expedia or some such website". Be specific, please.

Try the Accor website: www.accorhotels.com. I just tried pricing it for next week, and a room can be booked for the equivalent of 430k Rupiah, no refund, no breakfast.

Pretty damn good deal. You also get free 24/7 internet in the room now (network cable) which I've been meaning to add to the reports about this place.

Comfortable rooms, though hopefully the new lifts are in place by now, as the old ones set new records in slowness.

About the only problem is just about everyone I wish to meet want to meet in Senayan, and also wonder why the hell you are staying up that way (and are reluctant to go that far to see you).

Of course, if most of your contacts are in Mangga Dua/ Kota, or you just want the Kota experience, then - perfect.

Double check the lifts before booking, though- when I was there last month, the construction was bad, and took one lift out of operation, so there was only *one* old lift working!

Took a look on line- the cheapest rate I could find for mid-Oct, when I'll be there was IDR 570K. However, if you are not an A-Club member, go to the site- http://www.a-club.com/en/index.html- and there should be a sign up promo for 2,000 free points. You can then go redeem the 2,000 points for a E40 voucher, and stay for nearly free!

A new hotel and were doing cheap rates - the style is very modern and cosy but the rooms are small. The bed takes up the whole room so a nice touch and the shower is seperated from the bed area by a glass so little way that your guest can cover up before you begin your assault on her senses.

About RPh600k overnight including breakfast and a change in that area from Accor - a nice addition and the satay kambing is near to hand and Jln Jaksar walking distance for old times sake

Found the site...I am sorry if RTFF. It's a recommended high-end spa in JKT.

Hey Oyenk, thanks for the link, however I chuckled when I looked at the above web page, as there's no evidence whatsoever that Malioboro offers massages and is in fact one of the larger brothels in Jakarta, with over 60 females from Indonesia, Thailand, Spain, Russia/Kazakhstan/Uzbekistan and China on duty :-)

Similar for the Sumo Shiatsu website, but at least this latter site mentions "massage" as being available.

Obviously the web pages don't include this info for legal reasons, nevertheless it is strange to see the photos of the empty lounges in both places, knowing that these lounges are normally filled with women.

Tried out the spa last night. Got a good massage and at the end the lady asked if I want "special massage". I asked how much and she said IRD300k! I immediately said no and left it at that. She wasn't even attractive! Actually, I saw a few of the MLs while waiting for my turn and none of them really did anything for me. Elephants, Dinos or toothpicks.

In the end, decided to check out Club Manhattan. Was pretty dead. Had 1 mama-san come up to me to show of her wares, but they didn't look good at all even in the dark. I know it sounds like I've got high standards here, but honestly, they didn't! Saw the mama-san and one of her girls at the hotel lobby later as well and if confirmed why I thought they were hiding in the darkest corner of the club.

Anyway, would appreciate if any bros got any advice on anywhere nearby the hotel that I can venture out to get some action?

You're welcome MS bro,
It refers to oriental culture bro, on the other hand to avoid fanatical people...You've been in JKT for some years, you know the situations.

I'll be arriving there in a week or two. At 5:30 AM in the morning. Will Kaha or another hotel booking counter be open in the airport, or should I book ahead of time online? (Currently looking at http://www.amarishotel.com/ , looks like about 490K/night.) I trust I'll find a meter taxi OK at that hour?

Should have no problems finding a metered taxi at that time, but the Khaha desk will be closed

Just got a job assignment 'back' to Jkt. Lived before but outside of town, this time office will be in Menteng near Bappenas. I need a place to live, not to expensive and would even be willing to share with another expat of the same mindset. I'm 61, not a boozer but like a good beer and a good lay from time to time. Any suggestions or offers out there looking for a roomy?

I recently completed a long term assignment at Bappenas, and am now working outside Indonesia. I had a deluxe two-bedroom apartment on the 6th floor of Puri Imperium, 5 minutes away from Jl. Taman Suropati (Bappenas).

The unit overlooks the swimming pool and tennis court. The cost of the well-furnished apartment, not including electricity or broadband internet was $1250, which I thought was a bargain.

A 42" plasma TV, internet connection and other features are included in price. The tenant must pay for electricity and internet usage.

Please let me know if you are interested.
