I really hate walking through a lobby or even past a security guard with my lady for the evening. Can someone please tell me if there are any hotels, condos, with a private entrance in Manila? Preferably Malate area, but would also possibly consider Makati if not too expensive.
Thanks in advance.I frequently stay at Century Park Hotel, in Malate. There are two entrances, one by the lobby (where you check in), and another that opens up across from Harrison Plaza. The second entrance still has a guard, but it's no big deal. They are so used to men bringing lady guests for the evening, it never raises an eyebrow. In fact, at times, they might give me an approving smile. If you bring the girl after 10 PM, they will just want to register her and see her I'd (no charge), but this is for your protection. If the girl wants to depart without you, they will call your room to make sure that everything is okay before allowing her to leave.
Century Park is a really nice hotel, though a bit dated, yet very clean and secure. It's listed as a 5-star hotel on Agoda, and rooms are usually about $65. I think it's a very good value.
RG
P.S. One time, I brought a total of four girls (separately) through that second entrance in one day. That night, after the fourth girl left, I went outside at that entrance for a smoke. The guard laughed and commented, "You're my hero!" lol

" I'm going to get laid by a hot little pinay and I don't care what the fucking front desk thinks"Amen brother, I very nearly spat coffee over my laptop.

I suggest that you chant at least 20 times before you leave your hotel for the hunt, " I'm going to get laid by a hot little pinay and I don't care what the fucking front desk thinks" that may help you.Just my 20 pesos, L A T.That is so so funny. I'm going to try that.
Of course, one solution I used at Shangri-la Makati was to take my spare room card with me, outside the hotel gave to girl along with my room number.
Enjoy the week.
I frequently stay at Century Park Hotel, in Malate.Love this hotel, except the internet in the rooms sucks big time.
I found 2 cuties at Harrison Plaza and when they found out I had chocolate in my hotel room at Century Park, they came along with their sister who was probably 10. Nobody raised an eyebrow at Century Park. Nothing other than simple fun happened, it was just fun to mingle with 3 chatty girls on a boring afternoon. They made coffee, had snacks and watched stupid filipino reality shows. They tried to milk me for some money and I told them the chocolate cost me 500 php so that is a very expensive "gip".

You don't want to stay in any hotel, especially in Malate, that can be entered without needing to pass by at least some token security.
If you can enter without anyone seeing you then it's highly likely that undesirables can also do so, whether the door has some locking mechanism or otherwise.
You don't want a boyfriend, husband or jealous lover following you in while you are with "their" girl and causing problems.

Thanks in advance. In Makati the Howzat Inn doesn't have any security. Close to Burgos. If you stay there make certain you get a room with a working safe. Just sayin'.

Imagine the police later coming to your door saying, "We have a report that you enticed some young girls to your room with chocolate, and then tried to sexually batter the 10-year-old one. " They'd have a field day milking you (and possibly your family back home) totally dry. In this country, it's "guilty until proven innocent. ".

Gentlemen,
I have a number of people coming together in Manila from different countries and Phils provinces at different times on the same day.
I am trying to think of a suitable place where the early arrivals can sit in comfort for several hours waiting for others to come and meet up.
I was thinking of the Heritage hotel, on the EDSA.
Some advice please:
Does the Heritage have an open coffee shop on the ground floor where we can wait in comfort?
Are there any other suitable alternative meeting places that are closer to the airport?
Thanks in anticipation.
Gangles.

Several hours seem a bit long for a coffee shop. Give them the option to wander around or do something other than nurse a double mocha frappacino. Use Resorts World (small mall w / movie theatres, plenty of restaurants, and the casino) or Mall of Asia.

It depends which terminal you getting off. If it is Terminal 3, across is the Marriott and Resorts World Casino. You might be better of at those two than heritage. There is a hourly free shuttle to resorts world I think, or was it to the Heritage.

Spent time at the Picasso in Makati, The Executive Plaza in Malate and the City of Dreams in Parañaque.
The Executive Plaza was surprisingly good, the WIFI was excellent, the staff were friendly and while the rooms weren't modern, they were clean. It's a good bang for your buck hotel in my opinion (just try get a room at the back, away from street noise). What I didn't like about the hotel was that how you had to sign everybody into your room. Even male friends who were just coming up to chill out for a bit, still had to sign in. I also can see how Malate isn't for everybody, but I personally enjoyed the wild west atmosphere. I found it really handy to Robinsons mall, Casino, walking distance to LA Cafe and everything else around that area. I read a lot that it's dangerous to walk around that area late at night. I personally never once had an issue with anybody, nor did I ever feel threatened walking in between Malate and Ermita early mornings.
The Picasso was excellent. They've just opened a new restaurant down below and I found that rather average. I ordered the chicken breast twice, and it was under cooked both times. The staff were extremely friendly, and they never hassled me about bringing girls back. The rooms were clean, yet the smaller rooms are more modern. The larger rooms are more dated and I question how well they're actually laid out. If I could do it again, I'd just stay in the smaller rooms. Location wise, it's walking distance to Burgos and handy to a launderette across the road that has good prices.
The City of Dreams was amazing yet kind of isolated in terms of 7/11's and 'handy' shops. I actually didn't think I'd like the location but it's next to EDSA and the Mall of Asia, with a shuttle going every 30 minutes? From 10 am till 11 pm at night. If they opened a 7/11 walking distance to the hotel I'd struggle to say much bad about it. I never had a problem with taxi drivers knowing where the hotel was, nor was it hard getting a hotel from the hotel (make sure you go to the casino side to get your taxi and not the hotel side). The hotel rooms are mostly brand new and reasonably spacious. The cable TV is amazing and so are the facility's, the gym was reasonable and the pool was great. The restaurants on the Ground floor are all delicious, but pricey. I stayed in a King Deluxe room and the bed was probably the most comfortable I've ever slept in. I had more photos of all the rooms but unfortunately my camera isn't being recognized by my computer for some reason, so all I have is a few crappy snaps from my phone.

It is a petrolstation not so far away but I don't know if they carry any others than petrol. With, lets say, 7/11 close by it would be perfect hotel. But for unwinding and recharging batteries it is ok place. I experienced some girls coming from the outer parts of the city did have trouble as their drivers could not find the place but using MOA as landmark they managed quite well even if some had to drive past City of Dreams on their way to MOA they had no clue how to get there (well one driver did not). I stayed in Aqua suite (2 times and a smaller suit a third time). Nice place and nice lounge.

Great place, girls can come and go. Living in designated floors gives you great freedom. 25000 piso a night. 8 girls no popular but as they handle gamblingbusses with koreans / chineese people I don't see the structural difference.
Anyway, no problem is to small and they fix everything in a blink of a second.

New hotel on Bocobo St in Malate, just a few doors down from Bellagio Square (and across the street from Manila Manor) is Amelie hotel. Soft prices till June 15. Pics do the talking. The lobby is large and nice. I did not stay at this hotel; I just walked in and asked prices. Looks nice.

On Jupiter street, corner Makati Ave. Right next door to the McDonalds on the corner. 4 floors with an elevator. Good size spartan room, minimalist. Solid queen mattress. Table with 4 chairs around it. I had to move the bed closer to the door to get a wifi signal (the hotel's only weak point, the router is at the far end of the hall on the second floor).
Typical plated breakfast included with the room, only two choices: Corned beef hash and one other choice I don't recall. 2500/ night. Nothing great to write home about, but not a bad place. Security takes the girl's ID at the front door. Had several Burgos and Havana Cafe girls there over several nights (pics later). I would recommend it as low / mid-priced Burgos-area digs, except for the wifi.

What hotel is this, room type and how much? The tub is awesome. This is Excecutive suite at the New World Manila Bay Hotel (old Hyatt in Malate but changed name to NW in 1. 1. 15). It is a spacious fuckroom approx 170 sqm big and I found out viewing my bills it cost 28000 php a night. Hotel great but area dodgy.
Sorry if this has been answered, but my searches were not fruitful.
I'm looking for a hotel / area of the city that would be a good place to meet girls that I've found on FC, so won't raise flags by being right in the middle of a red light district, but is reasonably close to "action" spots if things don't pan out with the non-professional girls. Mid range budget wise.
Thanks

Depends on:
1. How much you want to spend.
2. Which part of Manila / Makati you'd like to stay.
3. If it is not Manila, which part of Phillipines.

CT.1. Around $50 - $100 USD per night, preferably.
2. I'm not sure where in Manila I want to stay when I arrive; which is what I'm trying to figure out. I'd like to try and meet girls off of filipinocupid, or otherwise non-pro's and have a place that's reasonable to take them back to. I'd also like to be within a reasonable distance to hire a pro if need be.
3. Just asking about Manila for the moment, thanks.

I usually don't pay much attention to the "Hotels" thread since I always stay at the same place in Makati. However it occurred to me today that I've never seen a mention of the Herald Suites which has a great location in Makati, and I believe is priced at less than $100 a night. It's on a street that the locals still call Chino Robles but which has been renamed Pasong Tamo, a narrow street that connects to Gil Puyat. I stayed there a few times years ago and was quite satisfied with the large rooms and general cleanliness of the hotel, which is populated largely by Japanese visitors. It's directly across the street from Little Tokyo, which includes several quite decent Japanese restaurants that are popular with expats and locals alike. I'm told the hotel has a new swimming pool and that the restaurant is squire good though I've no first-hand experience with either.

....if things don't pan out with the non-professional girls....LOL, no need to work in the hypothetical. This is the Philippines.
Way off track was Ortigas where I stayed in January. My dating girls travelled to the area and then stayed the night. If they travelled to me, then that was a sign they were committed to staying. Most / Many / All of the girls will have to travel to meet you anyway.
I've also heard good things about the St Giles Hotel, it being close to action but also being respectable.

Gangles. My reply is too late to assist you. Previously I have used the Marriott foyer as the meeting place. It was easy seating, a rather expensive coffee shop but people can also go off and wander through the mall. I guess as a group someone would stay and look after the bags while others come and go.

I loved my stay at the Fersal Bel-Air. The rooms weren't that nice, but the location was perfect and the front desk staff really helped me out. Not exactly in the red light district (which is pretty useless anyhow), but close enough for a nice stroll. No questions or issues with my new friends from FC.

About p2400 for a minimalist room (poor lighting), fair bed, breakfast. Turn right out the front door and its 2 blocks to Makati Ave, then turn right and its 2 blocks to Burgos. Turn left on Makati takes you past A-Venue, and another block up on the right side of Makati Ave is Fersal Makati hotel (sister hotel).
Turn left out of the front door and across the street is a large new clean mall.

Is Hotel Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila girl friendly?
ThanksI just stayed there a week ago together with a local GF who collected me from the Airport. I booked a package with Club access. Checking in. Only asked for my passport, didn't even look at her (And she was clearly there). So no problems what so ever. During the stay. Same thing. Saw several other gents with GF's coming and going to the pool, lounge etc. (Even with 2 girls) No problem. Al the staff knows clearly what is going on, but doesn't blink, no questions asked, and been treated as any other 'normal' customer, also my GF. She just had some problem dealing with the service of all these people around them. No being used to that.
I think bringing girls is also no issue, although I didn't do that. Hotel has late activities going on, so nobody really watches anything anyhow (Came back after midnight also with GF).
So, in short. No issue at all at this hotel.
Sorry if this has been answered, but my searches were not fruitful.

GE.
This is my former neighbourhood, and yes, it's overlooked. One clarification: the street used to be named Pasong Tamo and is now named Chino Roces, however the old name is more commonly used than the new. At the corner of Pasong Tamo and Dela Rosa is the Makati International Inn, rooms at approx p1700. No amenities. At the same price is Saint Illians Inn; it is one street behind Pasong Tamo and located in a Filipino residential neighborhood. Nearby is the Franchise 1 Hotel; again, same budget price and no amenities. At Pasong Tamo and Arnaiz is the Eurotel approx p2200. This is a very busy and noisy intersection. Across the street is the Waltermart, a small mall with fast food restaurants, grocery store, coffee shops, and cinemas. Arnaiz will take you the Greenbelt, Landmark and Glorietta malls. GE already mentioned Herald Suites. There are few Japanese-styled hostess bars in this area with some very pretty girls. There are a few cheap Filipino videoke places with so-so girls in Dela Rosa near corner of Pasong Tamo.
If you're a airbnb user these condos are in the area: the Beacon, Oriental Garden, Cityland Pasong Tamo, Avida Towers, and Belton Place. Cityland is the oldest of the lot and the Beacon is the newest (the third and last tower is still being built), but it is massive.
Merits: very close to the Skyway, so getting to / from NAIA is convenient; close enough to Greenbelt, Burgos; Little Tokyo, and the best of the bunch there are Seryna and Izakaya Kikufuji; close to Legazpi Park and its Sunday market; Makati Med.
Demerits: Between Dela Rosa and Makati Square / Little Tokya Pasong Tamo floods easily. This is mostly a lower-middle to middle-class barangay; I found it safe, but some may think it's a bit rough.
Stayed my first 2 nights in the PI at the Heritage Hotel, which is almost directly across the street from the EDSA complex. I have not been there for about 5 years, and stayed there this time because of its location. Girls coming from Cavite, Laguna, or anywhere south of the city have easy access to the hotel and they all know where it is. The carpet is worn, but the room I was in was very nice, and the price was good. I booked it thru their website. My room was too far from the elevator, but that's what happens when you arrive at 6 pm. To go to EDSA you walk out the door, turn right, go to the bridge to cross the blvd, and you are at EDSA. The hotel also offers free shuttle to Mall of Asia (MOA).
Side point. I did take a metered taxi from MOA to SM Molino, in Cavite, for about 275 pesos to meet a girl there. We shopped in the mall, and the driver waited, and the girl and I rode back to MOA. I did not pay for his waiting time, he started the meter over again. He said he did not want to go back to MNL area without a passenger, so he would wait at no cost to me.

First timer heading to Manila end of June for 13 days- can anyone recommend a nice Apart-hotel or Serviced Apartment in the Makati area for about $USA 50-75 night?Check Airbnb. You'll find something better than a hotel, most likely a condo with pool and gym. It's nice to have a kitchen and a laundry machine is a good bonus. Ask the landlord whether a maid can swing by once a week or so to tidy up and change bed linen and towels. Something like this is in your budget, https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5283942?checkin=06%2F26%2F2015&checkout=07%2F09%2F2015&guests=2&s=v6Je and https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6192828?checkin=06%2F26%2F2015&checkout=07%2F09%2F2015&guests=2&s=v6Je. Thanks for the advice, I checked out the airbnb website and saw quite a few places I liked. Most were condos with gym / pool and other nice amenities within my budget. I think I'm going to chooses 2 places and split my time between them as they all have pros / cons. Would there be an issue bringing a girl back to one these places? What AR the advantages over a hotel?

Hiya,
I'm coming next week to Manila for a week.
Can anyone here tell me which hotel offers special massage (massage + HJ) ?6 FRs and 6 questions all similar. You have been in Paris and Budapest but no FR on your time there.
There is a search engine here and RTFF will find you the answers as hotels are here and hotels allow massage just RTFF and you will find.
Also what part of Manila are you referring to as it is like saying "London" "Paris" "Budapest".
When you find the specials lets us know and FR but I don't think you have a PM facility either.
Hiya,
I'm coming next week to Manila for a week.
Can anyone here tell me which hotel offers special massage (massage + HJ) ?Mostly all hotels. Just ask the desk clerk for the hand job massage location. If the hotel does not have it available, then just hop in the taxi and ask the driver to take you to one. Happy ending sir!

I'm planning my usual pinay summer, but what happened to Tune hotels in the Phils? I used to sleep in Tunes all aroundthe Philippines, Makati, Ermita, Cebu, Davao and so on, but now it seems no more philippine branch on Tune Hotel website.
I saw that they should have change company into Red Planet hotel. Anybody know if it is the usual deal: clean, cheap, girlfriendly no frills rooms?
Thanks.

Thanks.Same as before. Inexpensive, clean and girl friendly. No change in staffing that I know of. I just booked Tune / Red Planet thru Agoda without any problems.
I had heard the Philippine's Tune investors were splitting off and becoming Red Planet. Just a rumor from a Tune employee.
Just search Tune Hotel Makati Agoda and book.
Tune Hotel in Malate is now Red Planet, and the last time I went by there, it appeared from a quick glance when going by that it was closed temporarily. I'm not sure about that observation though. The bar there has definitely been closed for renovations for several months. I've seen people working inside of the bar when the doors have been open.

Also best to book Tune Hotel on Agoda.com as Agoda price includes all the add-on charges.

Good to hear, thanks a lot.
I knew the fact that was better to book with other sites (nomally I use hotel.com app with a further 10% discount) to have all included.
About Makati Palace Hotel, where I recently stayed one week. It's quite run down now, the rooms need an urgent renovation. Carpets slightly dirty, rooms smoke smelly, the breakfast buffet and the food offered there, it's the cheapest of the cheap.
What pissed me off most, I've booked room with WiFi, but their WiFi is practically non-existent. In case you have a connection it's somewhat 100-200 kB / sec. My notebook had a WiFi connection of the entire 7 days, lets say all together maybe 24 hours. A few hours per day, rest of the time the network was down.
IMO, the hotel is still alive only on 3 L, location location location. And the owners try to make the most money out of it without any maintenance and finally, if it's really crap, sell it for pocket money or demolition.
Never again.
Just a reminder, in a pinch you should be able to run your machine using your cell phone as a "hot spot". Just go into settings and turn it on. Most of the text promos include some data, or with the prepaid SIMs you can buy blocks of unli internet data. A month costs p1,000, 5 days is p200, etc. It's not actually unlimited, you could go over if you tried hard enough, but it's plenty to do anything reasonable. Last time I was in a hotel with crap wifi, my 15 peso a day text promo gave me enough data to get by for the most important stuff. (A little ISG, FC, and DIA).

I went over it once and I think the limit for LTE is 1 GB (I was watching a basketball game). You still will have 3 G data available. The LTE data can be faster than some of the wifi connections at coffee shops or even your hotel.

Ekspat. Bit disappointed to hear that. I was going to try Makati Palace.
Background. I am quite lazy with Makati hotels. Just stay at Oxford suites for 2500 pesos. I have always been happy there. Bit rundown but WiFi always works.
Last trip though had a run in with the doormen.
They definitely have a deal with taxi drivers. Probably most hotel doorman do (eg Cebu Quest the taxi driver has to pay the doorman 10 pesos to park outside the hotel), but they take it too far trying to push fixed fee taxis on you.
I was wanting to get a taxi in heavy rain. Taxi driver parked across the street from entrance. Doormen asks how much to XXX. Taxi driver says 500 pesos (it ended up costing 60 pesos on a metered taxi). Doormen says hard to get taxi heavy rain implying I should accept the taxi quoting 500 pesos. I stormed off and found a metered taxi. But when I came back I complained to reception (yeah dumb move. Doormen are too important). Manager rings me comes to my room. Goes down investigates with head of security. Comes back says doormen not in cohorts with taxi drivers (yeah right! But at least he took it seriously.
But alas I think my photo was on the security office dart board.
They made my life subtly difficult.
So I was going to try other hotels. Makati palace, St Giles, Durban, ?
Open to suggestions.
Just a reminder, in a pinch you should be able to run your machine using your cell phone as a "hot spot". Very true, Sam. But if I book a room including WiFi, then I expect it to function properly. It's not my job to make it work or to find another solution.
Cheers!

Is anyone familiar with Birch Tower on Bocobo and Pedro Gil? I'm grabbed an Airbnb studio there for a night to visit a non-mongering buddy who's working out in Manila right now en route to my AC trip. I know it's extremely close to Robinson's Place, but that's about everything that I know in the area. Any suggestions for ways to kill the time (not necessarily FLs or massages. But not necessarily *not* that either)?

Open to suggestions. If you're still looking for a hotel, try The Clipper- turn right at Ivory Bar on Burgos. Also right by Jungle Room. Decent hotel, no elevator (only 2 floors), decent WiFi, breakfast is also good but not free! The doorman will get you a cab (metered) in heavy rain! And they will write down the license plate number of the cab, just in case.

One question though: how was the commute to LAC in terms of relative feeling of safety? Also, what would you recommend as the best route to AC from MM? I was going to have a hotel taxi pick me up, but the map says that I'm really close to the Swagman buses; is that accurate, or are the objects on the screen further than they appear?

One question though: how was the commute to LAC in terms of relative feeling of safety? From the attached pic, you can see its about a 5-block walk. Turn right coming out of Birch, walk half block (north) to Pedro Gil (see Robinson's mall). Turn left (west) onto Pedro Gil, walk 3 blocks. Turn right (north) and walk 2 blocks to LAC (corner Del Pilar and Salas streets). Its a gritty area. A taxi will cost you a dollar or so, but it might be faster to walk than hail and then ride a taxi in heavy traffic.
Also, what would you recommend as the best route to AC from MM? I was going to have a hotel taxi pick me up, but the map says that I'm really close to the Swagman buses; is that accurate, or are the objects on the screen further than they appear? Continuing north along Del Pilar from LAC, walk about 5 more blocks and you are at Swagman Hotel and the Swaggy bus. Assuming you have luggage, you would taxi from Birch Tower to the Swagman Hotel to pick up the bus. Cost is aboutp700 for the aircon bus. Cost to have your AC hotel pick you up in their vehicle is p2500-3000.
When I am going directly from the airport to AC, I prefer to have my AC hotel's car waiting for me. When I take one night to rest in Manila before heading to AC, I take either the Swaggy bus or the Southern Cross bus (Southern Cross hotel is 1-2 blocks from Swagman, and also runs a bus service, similar price).

In the picture you see the WiFi point in the floor, where my room was located. I know that the thing can work as long as it has power and a line, but hanging just off the ceiling tells something about the maintenance in the hotel.

Yes, you can stop worrying. Its hard to find a hotel that is not g-friendly.Why cannot someone just stating the basic. All hotels in the world is girl friendly also in Manila. Atleast when it comes to Hi end ones. I have stayed them all brands and the lux ones even have own dedicated girls you can book from the front desk. Ofcourse there will be minor exceptions I am sure but if you book a room for 2 ppl, as in a double, you should be more than safe. Its only the walk of shame (pride) left. Saying the same as you Westie just more harsh.

Meant to post a quick review of this place and kept forgetting, so I'll go ahead and do it now.
Location: I actually only flirted with girls at Robinson's and ended up meeting up with a girl I already knew, so I don't know how close it is to LA Club or what have you; that being said, it was a 4-5 minute door-to-door walk to the Pedro Gil side of Robinson's Place, and Uber had no problem finding me. BDO is a two minute door-to-door walk from the front, which is convenient for me, as it's my preferred bank in Phils.
Building: Quite modern and tall. There's a coffee shop, travel agency, and small convenience store on site, so the basic of basics are never truly far away. There's a front counter that can help you find your bearings if you have a booking through the building, but there's also an agency one door down; when I got my rental from Airbnb, this office is where they had me return the key, and it looks like a few Airbnb owners in the building might sublease their landlord duties to people at this agency--seemed legit though, as the security guard from the building walked over with me to find the specific agent and seemed to know everyone in the place. Not sure about girl-friendliness; they greeted us normally and might've asked her something in passing as we headed to the elevators, but I was never outright stopped for anything there. I also had a male colleague meet up with me at the hotel, so they might've just assumed I knew both people in real life.
Layout: Nothing too crazy, but pretty alright for my needs. For 45/ night I got a studio, which had (slooooooow) PLDT internet and cable TV, a decent bed, a kitchenette w / a hot plate, and a studio-proportioned bathroom with standup shower. The balcony was nice, though this individual airbnb person hit me with a bait-and-switch and gave me a view of the city as opposed to the mall and sea as described in their ad (I was going to argue it out with her, but she didn't seem to care, so I docked a point or two from my review rating instead); that said, it was a nice way to end the night or start the day, and the building goes high; after the first 15 stories (in quiet, fast elevators), Malate gets a lot less noisy.
Takeaway: Generally speaking I don't find my way to this part of Manila much; if I work in-country these days, it's almost entirely out of Makati. That said, I would use this condo again if I were looking for a place in Ermita or Malate (or sitting on the borderline, as is the case here). From what I understood / saw in the lobby, JMM Grand Suites own this building and the tower over on Adriatico, or at least are in charge of the renting for it; my rental was made through airbnb, and went through aforementioned agency. The studio was fine for two people that spent most of the time cuddled around or inside one another, but I'd cash out whatever the difference was for a one-bedroom next time, assuming it's not a massive leap.
Rating:
Comparative to the Greater Manila Area: 4 Stars.
Worldwide: A firm 3. 5 stars, if only for the studio size.

GE.I stay at Fairmont from time to time even if Ascott by far is my primera choice. Fairmont and its Raffles never failes. Very high end and Raffles with its buttler service is just to much for my mongering attitude. I sometimes just pay the buttler to sod off, hehe.
But if I for once will be economicaly thinking I find the value for my money better at Ascott, a bit wear and tear, but still 1 bdr excecutive or 2 bdr excecutive gives me good value and spacious surroundings (85 sqm or 140 sqm apts). Suites at the Fairmont runs on a slightly higher pricelevel and are smaller. Location according to my book not as good as Ascott but not by much. Sunday noon champagne lunch is nice at the Fairmont. Sometimes if I have a girl at hand, and mostly I do, we can just take the 5 min strall from Ascott to Fairmont (crossing through the Glorietta and out by either Landmark or Holiday Inn exits). I guess I paid 2400 last time per person. Great value and Moet or Yellow widow champagne. Allways head back Ascott for a romp beeing tipsy and all that shit.

For short Time in Makati: Red Planet Hotel formerly the Tune. Price is low budget. Service horrible but good for what it is for.
For intermediate Time in Makati: Berjaya Hotel. Price mid range. Service is also mid range. Will charge extra for blood soaked sheets.
Tops in my book for intermediate or long term stay in Makati: The New world hotel. Service is awesome. Price is on the high side especially for the exclusive club rooms above the 22 second floor.

Just had a couple of disappointing nights at the Linden Suits close to ADB in Oritgas. Room was fine, staff were OK but the hotel foyer entry is not really friendly for a guy bring in multiple girls.
The security scanning point is manned by three 'lads'. A logbook is kept of whom is entering and when.
The check-in counter is immediately adjacent to this and always manned with two smiling agents.
At initial check in where I had a room for two people they asked for the name of the person whom would be going me. I gave a generic name of K Smith.
Then finally walk to the lifts.
Over the next few days at no time was I stopped from taking a girl to my room, but it was certainly obvious to everyone what was going on. Too much gossip for my liking.

Pay the extra and get one of the theme rooms. It is New Year. Celebrate. There are no pools or great big lobby areas for sitting. The downstairs cafe looking onto the street is the place.
Be careful when booking the hotel. I recall getting scammed a little as I used the 'official' website which did not include breakfast. Perhaps calling them direct will confirm the best rate.

Hello,
I'll be spending a week in this hotel in December. It will be my third time there. All were business trips. I knew nothing about the Philippines my first time over and focused only on business while I was there. For my second trip, I was a little more informed and adventurous. Let's just say trip #2 was better than trip #1. Thanks mostly to the Edsa Entertainment Complex.
I'm hoping to make my upcoming trip the best yet and was wondering about possibilities within the Shangri La. The girls working in the Horizon Lounge were stunning and I'm wondering if there's any chance of extras with them. I wrote in a report in the Makati forum about another experience I had in the Horizon Lounge in which a Filipino woman who claimed to be a guest of the hotel attempted to undress me in one of the Horizon Lounges computer cubicles. The hotel lobby bar seems to be teeming with attractive women at night and I remember several trying to make eye contact with me the last time I was there. So do you even need to venture out if you stay here? This may sound odd, but can the concierge help arrange a discreet encounter?
On my last trip I had a couple massages at the hotel. One in the spa. And on in my room. The masseuse in the spa was young and attractive but all business. It was probably the most painful massage I've ever had. I remember biting my lip several times so this 90 pound masseuse wouldn't realize she's hurting me. She kept me covered the whole time and there was never even a hint of anything else being offered. The massage in the room was better on every level. Except the attractiveness of the masseuse. She was probably 50 years old and not much to look at. But the massage felt much better. In fact I dozed off for a few minutes. It was complete uncovered and she offered a happy ending. Which is all I wanted from her. Has anyone had in room massage at the Shangri La with better results? Is there a trick to getting an attractive masseuse. Is it poor form to ask for one?
Anyway. I'm excited for my trip. Looking forward to learning a lot from these forums over coming weeks. Would love to hear the experiences of others.
Thanks,

So do you even need to venture out if you stay here? This may sound odd, but can the concierge help arrange a discreet encounter? Many freelancers hang out at the hotel bars. If you are making eye contact, just smile and invite her over. The FL are not associated with the hotel in any way, so the concierge will not be able to help.
On my last trip I had a couple massages at the hotel. One in the spa. And on in my room.IMO, hotel massages are overpriced and overrated. And rarely will you get extras (and you if do, I'm sure it will be hyper-expensive). There are a few small massage places with no extras if you want a legit massage that are reasonably priced at 300-500 PHP / hour. Unfortunately, PH isn't like Thailand where there are a ton of good massage options.
oh and if any good ideas hotel with pool would be great in the middle of action! Not really on a strict budget, all info appreciated! The Bellagio doesn't have a pool. Though not in the "middle of the action" the Gramercy Residences is beside it. It has very nice pool and an excellent nightclub. You can find very nice flats for approx. U$100 per night on airbnb, for example this one https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/6078918?s=gHhI. There are places cheaper and more costly too; if no expense is too much then this one is very nice, https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/8036895?s=_lnt. A bit further away from Burgos, but still quite close, is Rockwell Powerplant Mall and the deluxe condos beside it.
My advice for airbnb:
1) Make sure Internet is included; it usually is, but some owners don't include.
2) If you're staying for more than a few days it's great to have a laundry machine and drying rack in the flat. Yes, laundry shops are widely available, but it's just easier to take care of underwear, socks, jeans and shirts on your own.
3) If you're staying for more than a few days ask the owner provide a change of the towels and bed linen every few days.
4) Don't rent a studio. It's much nicer to have a bedroom.
5) If you rent a 1-bedroom ask about the location of AC. There should be one for the living room and another for the bedroom. If only in the living room it takes a long while for the bedroom to cool.
I have been doing my research but a bit confused with some of the field reports. Is there still a good night club / bar at the intercontinental where Freelancers hang out? Was not sure if this place is still open, getting in late next week and don't want to spend to much time traveling to find a great guest. Also can anyone suggest a great, high quality local within walking or short ride away from intercom?
Thanks
Spending a few days at red planet, formerly tune hotel Ermita. Clean, modern room, a little small, with double bed, cable TV, WiFi & hot water. 7-11 and restaurant (dim sum) on the ground floor. Have not tried the restaurant yet, maybe later tonight. Store and restaurant open 24 hours. A few tables outside if you like the heat.
It is about 15 minute walk to manila bay cafe, if you don't feel like going that far, there are bars all around the hotel. Was waiting for my friend to show up last night, around midnight, there are girls hanging around right outside the entrance. Too easy!
When bringing a girl back, doorman will take her ID, when she leaves you sign her out. No extra fees for a guest.

ThanksHungary and Philippines. Same questions, 4 FRs none about what you did in Hungary just questions.
If you bothered RTFF ad search you could fid the answer, if read this thread enough you will know this answer.
When you search also look for "give and take" as many have written about this previously and you could certainly learn from it.
But if you do arrive best you watch yourself and the area as what with scams and street urchins and all sorts of nasties you may never leave the hotel to meet any girls so perhaps revisit you assumption about trying out things?

I was not aware that it was not OK to do that. I have read many many pages back, but have not found out anything about the 2 hotels, that is why I ask!
Since I have not been in Budapest or Manila yet, I have difficulties in telling you my experience. Will do when,I have been there.
I have not used the search function, sorry. Will try that.
It is not easy to be a new on this site! Remember it is always easy to Pick on the newbies!

Yes, it is correct that I have posted two questions about hotels in two countries. I was not aware that it was not OK to do that. I have read many many pages back, but have not found out anything about the 2 hotels, that is why I ask!Lassechph, I have experience in City State Tower in Manila. Contact me in Private Message for details.
City State is centrally located in Ermita, about 2 blocks from LA Café, 1 block from G Point and 1-2 blocks from perhaps 5-6 other bars. Security is OK. No safes in the rooms in the old section, so you might ask for the new section. Breakfast used to be free. I don't know if it is now. Depending on what you like to eat, you can eat there, or Dakota restobar is 75 meters to the right as you exit City State. Munchin Restaurant is almost directly across the street. Both Dakota and Munchin have decent food. There's another open air restobar across the street too, but I don't remember the name of it.
City State is girl friendly. They might require an ID and will call your room to make sure everything is OK when she leaves. Hope that answers your questions.
Both Dakota and Munchin have decent food. There's another open air restobar across the street too, but I don't remember the name of it.
If you're mentioning the place across the street from the Dakota it's the Calle 5 ("calle cinco" Live music featuring so-so bands and a table fee. The Dakota has much better food; Calle 5 is pancit, sisig, crispy pata, etc. The standard Filipino pulutan. Cowboy Grill and Bellagio Square have better bands. I think your "Munchin" is the München Grill Pub, which has very tasty, hearty German food.
Hi,
Thanks a lot for the good info. I hope to get a new room with safe!

Hi Guys,
Stayed in the 1 in Pedro Gil, ex Hyatt, in April. Cost 7100 per night for Executive Room with access to Lounge. Very pleased with the stay and thought good value. Girls loved it. Back again in November, but cost greatly increased. Feedback from the Foum suggests that Fairmont might be better than the New World in Makati. Could you tell me why? What is Fairmont Gold like?

Feedback from the Foum suggests that Fairmont might be better than the New World in Makati. Could you tell me why? What is Fairmont Gold like?I stayed in a Fairmont Gold room on my recent last trip to Manila. The main differences from regular Fairmont rooms was a higher floor and access to the executive lounge on the same floor. The executive lounge is nice. It offers Fairmont Gold guests free appetizers, deserts, cokes, wine, ect in the evening and makes it easy to obtain a bucket of ice if you are entertaining girls in your room. During the day the executive lounge serves as a quiet place to do some computer work.
As a Chase Fairmont Club member my Gold room was an automatic free upgrade as was the complimentary free breakfasts in the Spectrum restaurant and the special pricing of book 3 nights receive 1 night free offer. All in all I was very happy staying at the Fairmont Makati and prefer it over the New World Makaiti. I also stayed at the Sofitel on this trip and enjoyed that resort hotel as well. I will post full hotel reviews later.

Back again in November, but cost greatly increased. Feedback from the Foum suggests that Fairmont might be better than the New World in Makati. Could you tell me why? What is Fairmont Gold like?Fairmont Gold rooms are identical to the normal Faormont Deluxe rooms in terms of size and furniture. The amenities offered are of slightly higher quality, as are the sheets, towels and bathrobes. Of course the rooms also provide access to the lounge, which offers a large array of finger foods, wines, and whiskies. I stay at the Fairmont, on average, about 10 days each month and have not found the difference between the Gold rooms and the deluxe rooms worth the difference, but that's likely because I don't use the lounge very much, and in any case have access to it regardless of the type of room I choose.
I used to stay at New World and I believe that the Fairmont is far superior, both in terms of the rooms and the overall service.

With the exception of my first two trips to Manila, where I stayed at the Shangri-la and the Y2 Residence, I have now exclusively booked all of my condos on Airbnb. My reasons for doing so were:
1) You just get far more space and privacy with a condo, as opposed to a hotel room and I like having a fridge I can stock with beer and food.
2) Flexibility of location. Renting a condo affords more choice of where to stay. For me personally, Rockwell is the perfect base of operations given it's relative proximity to both Burgos / Poblacion on the one side, and the Fort on the other.
3) Cost. I usually pay less than $100 per night for a large 1 or 2 bedroom condo that is exceptionally well furnished. It takes some searching to find the right place for you, but once you build a relationship with an owner, generally they'll be more flexible on price and they'll do more for you, if you'd stayed a few times and they know you'll treat the place with respect.
4) Security. I've stayed in about 6 different condo buildings. I have never had to register a guest with the lobby, and in virtually all cases, the security desk has called my every time one of my guests has left. Generally after a day or so I'll introduce myself to the guys on the door that will be there regularly and tip them as a matter of courtesy, but this is entirely optional, and I guess based on your projected volume of incoming traffic.
Having said all this, there are some things to look out for when booking a condo. These things are generally minor niggles, but they really can make a difference to the quality of your stay.
From experience I can tell you that it's always good to look at the photos in detail to establish where the air conditioning units are. I've stayed in 2 condos where the units were either down low next to the sofa or directly across from it on the wall. This means (in warmer months) you're sat in your own mini jet blast whilst trying to relax. Gramercy Residence is especially bad for this.
Making sure you understand the layout of the condo is also key. There really are some of the most dumbass condo designs known to man in Manila. Just check out some of the condos at One Rockwell where the sofa is basically under the stairs. And of course photos can be deceptive as to the relative size of the living space. You can usually spot this with enough examination of the photos.
Now compare this with paying $250 per night for a smallish room in a nice hotel and for me, there's only one winner, but as in all things it's down to personal preference.
With the exception of my first two trips to Manila, where I stayed at the Shangri-la and the Y2 Residence, I have now exclusively booked all of my condos on Airbnb. My reasons for doing so were:Thanks for taking the time to write such a nice report, very helpful.
For me, Fairmont if in Makati, Ascott if in BGC and never near power plant because if you want to go to the fort, the drive is quite long as there is no way to cross over edsa, although on the way back from the fort is a quick drive. So pluses and minuses.
Will be staying at Royal Bellagio Makati Burgos Street. Does anybody know in general about this and other hotels about bringing in two girls at a time? Say out parting and come back to room with two girls, they going to give me a hard time?? Is this where short term hotel comes into play?

I had some great experiences in this place back in the late 90's. Pity it has to close. Many of us have had good and interesting times in this hotel. Not forgetting the fact the Mayor Yabut (I think was his name) had a gunfight at the ok corral type evening there in the lobby one night with some gangsters. The Jeepney cafe was an old favourite for a few Manilenos and when the hotel wanted to renovate it, the loyal locals objected and thus it staayed pretty much in its original conditioning. The hotels aircon and main plant were obsolete years ago, which is why it was always very hot in summer there as it couldn't produce enough cool air. Was one of the first places I stayed in and got my introduction to Manila tour.

As reported in the past I have always stayed at Century Park, Malate. It offers great accessibility to NAIA, the Casinos, Harrison Plaza, MOA, Robinsons, EDSA, Ermita and a 100 P ride to Makati. I love the hotel for its large imposing spacious lobby and wonderful dining area. Equally good are the rooms, spacious (38 sqm) and well appointed. I smoke and this hotel has dedicated smoking rooms and the staff is simply among the most courteous ones I have come across in my wide travels. And a very key factor in my decision to stay here has been the tariff. Generally the all in daily tariff works out to US $70 give or take another US $5.
However, for my upcoming trip in May, when I was looking up rooms at Century I was quite shocked to see the tariff at US $110 for the same rooms. This has prompted my to scout for options and I wanted to check out hotels in Makati.
I have done a fair bit of research and read the thread back a few pages. Does anyone have an opinion or report on City Garden Grand? Works out to near similar prices as Century's new tariff but then its in Makati closer to the action. Key question is do they have smoking rooms.
Alternately any suggestions on a similar quality hotel as Century with near same tariff and other points remaining the same? I checked some service apartments and some Airbnb options. Almost all of them are non-smoking properties.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.I have stayed at Century Park on numerous occasions, and I find that their pricing strategy has a pattern. If you try to book, say, several months in advance, they price all their rooms fairly high, over $100 per night. But as the dates you want approach, like within 30 days, they then drop the price considerably, to about $70. I think they just want to book as many as they can at the higher rate before offering their "real" rate to fill up the rooms.
My advice to you is to be patient. Don't book your room until about 3-4 weeks before arrival. There's lots of competition among the hotels you mention, and very little risk that you'll miss out on any great deals. Actually, the opposite is true.

.I usually stay at Oxford Suites. However I was getting negative feedback from non P4 P girls I would meet given the location is too close to Burgos. In effect they didn't want to be seen so close to the bar scene. I have tried City Garden, St Giles, Durban, Best Western Antel around the Burgos Makati area and was not really happy with any of them. This trip I tried City Garden Grand at 4500 pesos per night. This is a new hotel and I was quite impressed. The rooms were wooden floors (I prefer carpeted rooms) but they were reasonable size. The rate included breakfast which was ok but not great There is no security on the lifts so visitors can come straight up. Even early morning I was never stopped by security to register a visitor. There is a great roof deck bar and restaurant. My only complaint is the checkin area is chaotic resulting in total confusion if it is busy. As for smoking, according to the booking page of the hotel's website there is a smoking option. The rate is a step up from my normal 2500-3000 pesos at Oxford suites but I would highly recommend City Garden Grand.

Heading to Manila for work and they want to put me up in the Hyatt City of Dreams and I searched high and low this site for feedback and came back empty handed. I got worried if this place is to far from action and if they may just be one hotel on the planet not girl friendly. As we all know, if it is not here then it is no where to be found. Any advice on this hotel would be greatly appreciated! Their second choice is the Hyatt hotel and casino.

Thoughts and advice?Ya. Its right by the airport I think. Near Mall Of Asia (MOA). It depends of what you mean by 'far from action'. Which action? Manila has several sets of action. There is the LA Caf / EDSA area of Malate (5-10 minutes by taxi at night due north from your hotel, or 20 minutes by day). There is the Makati (P Burgos street, with street girls and gogo bars) action, 15 minutes east from your hotel by night, or 30-40 minutes by day.
A better hotel choice might be the Hyatt Hotel & Casino, on Pedro Gil corner del Pilar streets, very near the Malate action. Another upscale place in Malate is the Sari Pan Pacific. If you choose the Makati area, consider the City Garden Grand, or Berjaya.
Other's thoughts?

Other's thoughts? That Hyatt is under new management for about a year now and is the New World Manila Bay Hotel.
Where to stay depends largely on the reason for the Manila visit. Since the fella is coming here for work I advise staying near the workplace unless it's one of those jobs that has you running to and fro all over town. I'd like to think his employer would book him a hotel near work, but knowing how humans behave of behalf of others many are inclined to pick the first place on the list and call the job complete. Of course some companies are tied to corporate agreements with certain hotels.
For the new Hyatt, I recall Skogis stayed there and liked it. Would I stay there for a Manila visit? Unlikely. I find it's a bit isolated, and I like to explore a city, especially by foot, so I want to be in the centre of things. Others may find the isolation agreeable as they prefer to restrict all activities to the hotel.

Hotel closer to work is better in Manila unless you like trawling and creeping through traffic jams. If you are on business expense a taxi as these are cheap if you want to follow the cutes, but again there is the problem that is called Manila traffic.

Thoughts and advice?I stayed there a few times and it is girl friendly as every other hotel in the city are if you book for two occupants ie not a single room. Here I would like to say the world but I haven't stayed at all hotels around the planet but it sure feels like I have and never did I experience trouble bringing in one or more girls whatsoever.
Its as Huts / Westie say; not in the middle of the action but no trouble reach to the action. Its quite and have two nightclubs, bar, restos, casinos (never underestimate a gambling girls desire for some cash, hehe), new and modern etc etc. Not my favorite spot which is Ascott Makati and Fairmont. New World Manila Bay (old Hyatt casino) is nice but area realy shitty (my opinion).
I'm going to be in Manila for business with some colleagues and we're staying at the Peninsula. This will be my first time staying at that hotel, but I've been in Makati before. I see it's been recommended in this thread before and that it's girl friendly. Does anyone know if they require the girls to register when they come in with you at night? This is something I'd rather avoid as I want to limit my time in the lobby even late at night, as it could be hard to explain if I run into any of my colleagues.
Also, it looks like it's walkable straight up Makati Ave to the P Burgos area, less than 1-km, so like 10 minutes walk. When I stayed at the Shangri-la across the street before I always did taxis, but this looks easy enough. Is this walk ok alone? I figure when I'm coming back with a girl, I'll taxi as it wouldn't be cool to ask a girl to walk but if I'm going either way alone I wouldn't mind it if it's OK.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.Given where the enterance is, walking in may be a chore. I only walk if the dining area is open, so I can walk in via Makati Ave. In terms of registering, if she comes alone, they do ask for her name, but when I left with her once, I found that they accepted her work name and not her real name, which seemed odd to me. So I'd say they are more relaxed as they didn't take an ID like other hotels. Finally, with respect to the walk of shame, it's a long winding walk to the elevators, with an open floor design (ie: colleagues could be on the second floor looking down). So if you are very concerned, then perhaps not the best set up. Just look confident and move quickly to the elevators.

I presume this was a typo. EDSA the avenue comes nowhere near Malate, and the EDSA complex is in Pasay City. If your point was that Malate hotels are within relatively close striking distance from these two places (walking northward toward LA Cafe; taxi southward to EDSA complex), then most of us would concur. Where you and H disagree on what constitutes isolation in Metro Manila probably comes down to your differing reasons for being in Manila in the first place. Trying to define isolation for anybody arriving for the first time always hinges on why they are visiting and where their "business" is being conducted.

I presume this was a typoIt wasn't a typo, I should have checked the map more clearly. His hotel of choice, the Hyatt / Dreams, is itself in the Pasay area, just a few blocks west of NAIA, I think, and close to the EDSA complex of bars. I confused the EDSA complex as being closer to LA Caf / Malate. A map of the area is posted for all. The hotel and EDSA complex can be seen on the map in the lower-left, near the NAIA runways (Pasay). A mile or two further north is LA Caf / G-Point in Malate. About the same distance northeast from the hotel is St. Giles hotel in Makati (Burgos street area).

I'm looking for the best option for a hotel very near the airport. Not a dump, but something relatively cheap. I'm only going to be with one woman, so it doesn't have to be girl friendly.

Thanks in advance.Fiddy here is a thought. Try the Shogun Suites, just about one-quarter mile north of the airport (as the crow flies, otherwise by car one contends with traffic). A map is posted here for you. The hotel is modest (not ancient, but not new / fancy), all the rooms are suites (many are upstairs / downstairs). I think the cost last time I stayed there was about p2200 ($50-ish). They provide free pickup at the airport (but not return for drop-off; I think I paid them an extra p130 for the return trip). The price included not only breakfast for 2, but also a free dinner.
From the aerial map posted: The hotel is near the top, the airport runway can be seen near the bottom. Mall Of Asia is to the far left. The EDSA bar complex is just about 4 blocks west of the hotel. The hotel is situated on Taft Avenue, near the corner of EDSA Blvd. Caution: Running directly above Taft Ave is the rail train. Taft / EDSA avenues are congested arteries. Getting a taxi is not always easy. The Taft / EDSA intersection is very difficult to negotiate / cross on foot. Positive / negative: Many cheap food alternatives in the area (and the dirt-cheap Baclaran outdoor shopping area is nearby).
In the second pic you can see a better view of the intersection and the hotel. Metropoint mall / shopping is right next door (just south). The hotel has two entrances, one on Taft and one on Zamora. The entrance on Taft is dark (the train above the street blots out any sun in the daytime) and leads into the hotel underground garage, which is where their van service and taxis will drop you off. The entrance on Zamora street is the main entrance to the lobby.

I'm looking for the best option for a hotel very near the airport. Not a dump, but something relatively cheap. I'm only going to be with one woman, so it doesn't have to be girl friendly. Thanks in advance.Do yourself a favor: check out Agoda.com or a similar travel vendor website. In the Agoda site go first to Manila, then scroll down the left side until you see some options for different regions within Metro Manila. Southern parts of the airport are in the city of Paranaque, and northern parts are in Pasay City, as is the Shogun, which WC recommends. The Shogun is nearly two miles away from Terminal 3, not a quarter mile; the scales in googlemaps and google earth can be deceptive. (Sorry to quibble, WC.) An Agoda search will show a number of other hotels in the same general area in Pasay, but some of these are pretty shabby and the Sogo is largely a hot sheets, rent by the hour arrangement.
Within Agoda you can look first at Pasay, then Paranaque, or reverse the order of your search. Keep in mind that star ratings in sites like this are relative to some unknown checklist, but customer reviews can give you a sense of potential problems.
The picture in the attachment is from Agoda. It shows the airport and surroundings. The Shogun is approximately at the number 97, just above the word "Pasay," near the top left corner. The blue hotel figure near center right is actually the Remington, one of several hotels at the Resorts World Manila casino complex. This and other hotels in the complex are pricier than many Manila hotels, but obviously close to the casino action. The little blue airplane just above the words "Resorts World Manila" is Terminal Three, where many international carriers now arrive. This terminal and the resorts area are in Pasay. It is not practical to walk from Terminal 3 to the resorts area because of highways and traffic, but there is a shuttle bus available near the terminal.
You should do some research as to which terminal your airline uses. I believe Philippine Airlines still arrives at Terminal 2, which is just below the words "ng Ninoy Aquino" (lower center) in the picture in the attachment. A few other international carriers continue to arrive at the worn out Terminal 1, which is just above the word "Nino" in "Santo Nino" in the lower left. Terminals 1 and 2 are in Paranque City. Another hotel option, also shown in Agoda in the Paranque section, is the Manila Airport Hotel, at about $50 a night. It is near the letter "V" in "Vitalez." I have not been there in a couple years, but when I was there I thought it deserved the three stars that Agoda gives it. Its principal advantage is that it's walking distance from Terminal 1, a longer walk (1/2 mile) from Terminal 2, and a shuttle ride away from Terminal 3. They have a decent complementary buffet breakfast, and rooms are comfortable. There are two principal disadvantages. It's in the middle of nowhere. Other than a couple infamous KTVs a short taxi ride away, there is nothing to do when you tire of horizontal recreation. Secondly, some "superior" rooms have twin beds. You can opt for another, more expensive room type, or you can try to call ahead to request a double bed. If you will be meeting up with a specific sweetie, she could also call in advance and explain the importance of this romantic encounter. Sometimes the native tongue comes in handy. I am posting their website below.
Another alternative location is near the Mall of Asia. This place has lots of shopping options, movies, and so on. By Philippine standards this is a high end mall, and there is good taxi and jeepney traffic in and out of the mall area--but not light rail. I believe X-Man has commented on some of these hotels. You can use his name in the search tool for this thread. A couple of others have also reviewed these places.
What you search for depends a lot on what you mean by being with one woman and how long you plan to stay. Almost all hotels in Metro Manila are girl friendly, and those that aren't will be okay if the woman shows up with you when you register. But if you plan to stay a few days or more with one woman, you and she will get bored and want other things to do. If this is the case, then hotels near Mall of Asia or the intersections of EDSA and Roxas or EDSA and Taft, where the Shogun is located, make more sense. Any of these places are a ten or 15 minute, inexpensive taxi ride from the airport.

KayWhy and BrainDrain, thanks for the info. As for walking to / from Burgos, I guess it'll be a matter of the weather and how quickly I want to get there or back. If I'm coming back with company, I won't make her walk that far. I don't really care about the cost of the taxis, it's just been a few years since I've been there so I have to get used to the system and the right rates again.
I'll check out the inside layout, but as it's likely any girl I'm bringing back will be well past midnight I should be OK as we have meetings the next day. There's always a risk, but I don't have much choice! If I get the girl from a bar, I'm usually OK with skipping registration.
I didn't know Uber was in Manila. Here in California we depend on Uber all the time, and now they've become dependable and cheap in Tijuana too. That's good to hear.
Thanks again, and I'll make a report. Can't wait to get back!
Thanks WC and SS. I'll probably stay at the Shogun Suites. I'm only staying in Manila for 2 days before going to Cebu. Hotel Jen was nice last time, but Shogun Suites is surprisingly cheap for what they give you.

Thanks again, and I'll make a report. Can't wait to get back!Other than working up a healthy sweat, there's little danger to the walk, but there is some, which is heightened a bit now that the election season has arrived.
Uber in Makati particularly is quite efficient, costs about the same as a taxi and is much more pleasant. It's my primary mode of transportation in both Makati, where I stay and Ortigas, where my office is.
GE.
Trying to define isolation for anybody arriving for the first time always hinges on why they are visiting and where their "business" is being conducted.I don't know where you got your last soapy at, but I have a place in Malate, and from the Edsa complex, it's about a 7-10 minute ride door to door by Jeepney, even in the middle of the day.

Staying in Pasay. Looking for soapy. Please share.I have never pursued soapies in Pasay. My username is from an infamous American wild west con man. Good fun, nonetheless.
Slip, I too ride jeepneys when possible, but I would not recommend them for newbs. These things are just diesel imitations of jeeps with extended bodies rebuilt from vehicles left by the American military after WWII. When they're full they're uncomfortable, and for clumsy Westerners like me it can be nearly impossible to get in or out without stepping on feet--which are often bare feet in flip-flops. Writing on the sides and front are for routes and destinations that a person understands only after spending time in Manila. You also need to understand fares, how to communicate "bayad po" and "para" (or tap on the roof), and you need to know the surroundings at your destination so you know when to tell the driver to stop. For Westerners it's often hard to see out the side and front windows, which are at a height that's okay for shorter Filipinos--although probably not by design. That makes it hard to pick up on surroundings for your destination. Newbs just don't have the understanding of local culture and surroundings that you have acquired.
My point was that EDSA is not in Malate, and it is not walking distance from Malate. If you live there, you presumably know that the southern boundary of Malate (and the City of Manila) is just south of Pablo Ocampo. Even from southern parts of Malate, such as Harrison Plaza, it is about three km along Harrison to the EDSA complex. For newbs that means taking a taxi from Malate--or, if you are near it, taking the LRT. Most seem uninterested in the LRT, and it does not run after 10 pm.
Staying in Pasay. Looking for soapy.

Excellent analysis Soapy. You nailed the jeepney experience very well.
Just to be more explicit, the roof of the jeepney is extremely low, so if you are more than 5 ft 4 then you will be uncomfortable.
I rode once only in a jeepney about 15 years ago with work colleagues (locals) and though it wasn't crowded it was even more difficult than bus travel for me.
I am 6 ft 2 (or 189 cm) and I was doubled over to avoid hitting my head on the roof, and my knees on my long legs were touching the opposite side seats. I ended up squatting on my haunches in between the seats in order to avoid a cracked skull. I would have been a hazard to locals if the jeepney had been more crowded.
Spend a few extra pesos and get a taxi or the MRT / LRT. Jeepneys are a last resort, eve if you can sit up front with the driver.

Do they actually bathe you?My experience thus far has been only with Flight 168, but the answer to your question is yes. The customer selects girls from a fishbowl with different category girls and then has the option of choosing different quality rooms in which to have a session. They have some very attractive girls although I would have to say the highest quality girls, actual stunners, are working in Airforce 1 KTV (nightclub) upstairs. The highest quality rooms are called 1st class or business class (I forget). These rooms have a jacuzzi, a sauna room, sofa, TV, and large bed. You can order drinks brought to your room as you wait for the tub to fill. The sessions include soapy Jacuzzi play, massage, BBBJ, and sex. Multiple shags per session depend on the girl and the customer. So the bottom line is; different girls ie Pinays vs Thais, but Flight 168 is a high class soapy massage parlor, bordello, or whatever you want to call it.
I believe Kremlin and Sylvanus offer similar services and style over on Quezon Ave. But, Flight 168 is pretty convenient if you are staying at the Marriott, City of Dreams, or even further north in Malate. Flight 168 offers a discount on rooms and girls before 5pm. Go! I think you will like it.

First, I have to say that the taxi ride from Makati was brutal. It took close to 1.5 hour, and it went through many seemingly rough / poor neighborhoods. Even the taxi driver locked the doors on several occasions. And this was on a Saturday, mind you. On Sunday, it was better, as the traffic was much lighter.
At both Kremlin and Sylvanus, I only got a co-ed shower, with no extras. The service did not include soapy and there was no Jacuzzi in the room. But the girls were friendly, sweet and provided GFE service.
As for pricing, the Kremlin had a 3-tier pricing, Gulag, Politburo, and Proletariat. The girls looked pretty much the same, but the rooms were of higher quality and more expensive. I had selected the Politburo, with a twin bed and a tiny shower. What's worse was at the suggestion / insistence from my girl, I ended up having a 3-some on that tiny bed. But, I had a good time with them.
The pricing, as it was explained to me, is that the girl gets the same as the room. I paid 1,100 php for the room and the girls appeared content as I gave each 1,100 php plus a a tip. The Gulag section is less expensive, and the Proletariat more expensive. Sylvanus was similar in pricing but the room was nicer and a little bit more expensive, but not that much.

I have read back around 20 pages but found nothing about this particular hotel. From the research I have done on the net I gather that this property is relatively new (opened in 2010). The rooms look pretty good and they are reasonably priced. The location is great. However, there is no mention of it on any website offering advice on guest friendly hotels. I cannot tell from all the information gathered if this place has smoking rooms.
So any information about this hotel on these subjects from board members will be highly appreciated. I have written to the hotel to check about these points, but I thought it might be a good idea to post this question on the forum too.
Thanks for reading!

I am planning to stay in BSA Tower Serviced Residences ,108 Legaspi Street, Legaspi Village, Makati, Makati City going by description of the hotel.
I would be much obliged for feedback on this hotel. I would also be thankful if you seniors could let me know if this is a girl friendly hotel / apartment.
My understanding is that all hotels in Makati / Manila are girl friendly.

I was staying recently in Makati and for once Ascott was fully booked. Shangri la didn't let me down and they provided me the Mactan suite (150 sqm) and 80 k a night. I got discount though as I originaly booked a 75 sqm suite. We only live once so why not. The charged me 25 k extra per night (as discount). Got a welcome Jgermeister and a bucket of ice and that made me happy.
Here you have some pics from a guy travel and monger in style.

Raising the bar, once again. Nice to see. Something The Donald would shag in, if he still does shag, that is.
Big enough to have a re-union party for your former girls. Make nice pics.

Didn't pay to much attantion while leaving the place and just signed off and left. Got the Diners bill now and 169000 pisos for 3 nights (excl girls) is a tad over the top. But breakfast, which I never made (my fault) and lounge access, where I had 1 glass of redwine and didn't care about that much (the lounge itself I mean, the redwine was ok), were incl. Ive stayed here numerous of times before but have never made it to the lounge as it runs free coctail operatins in primetime(5 to 7pm)for girls to heading back from work and detouring for a stop here. So ex from a suite at the Adress in Dubai this is the most I've paid per night ever. Fun the phils would set a new record. They told me the Mactan suites runs for 80000 pisos a night so at least I got the discount.
What i dont like about Shang is its a bit to much decorations around the room. But own kitchen and 2 bathrooms are a postive thing..
Well, for Manila, I still think that the Excecutive suites (120-130 sqm) back at New World Manila Bay Hotel is the best room I've had here in MNL. I think that was "only" 30-35000 pisos per night. To bad its in a shitty area (my opinion). I don't like to do my operations there and stay there only when Ascott is fully booked or i want a change. Girls as well, at least the one I am chasing, hesitate this area too and infact it makes it pretty hard to convince them to come. Convincing time isn't my idea of good fun so I stay mostly in Makati as a few of you allready figured out beeing my base of operations.

Can Seniors please give a feed back on Best Western Oxford Suites, Makati? Is this girl friendly hotel and near to the action?I don't know your place in particulare but I've so far haven't heard of any girl UNFRIENDLY hotel. As long as you book a twin or double room there shouldn't be any trouble. Bcs if you tick the hotel features for number of people you need in one room, tick off "2" then they can not do anything. 3 or more I have noticed from reading here can be charged extra. I've had 5 girls in New World Manila Bay Hotel without anyone raising their eyebrowse (at least not the staff). It was worse with the aged western lady of whome me and my girliecrew shared the elevator with.

Can Seniors please give a feed back on Best Western Oxford Suites, Makati? Is this girl friendly hotel and near to the action?I have stayed there at the Oxford Suites many times and it is always girl friendly and it is definitely near the action as it just on the edge of P. Burgos St. which is the heart of the red light area of Makati.
Although I have never experienced any problems with someone staying overnight even if I just checked for one person to in the room, its good advice to book for two people. Also if you want to buy breakfast for your overnight guest, its much cheaper to pay for it initially by booking for 2 people instead of having to pay for it separately for two guests afterwards ... if that makes sense !!!
I'm staying at the City Garden Grand. It's close to Burgos so if that's your scene it's a great location and very girl friendly. It's nice, upscale, and clean. In hindsight knowing I'm not really that impressed w / burgos I would have rather stayed near greenbelt to pick up freelancers. Oh well. Next time.

Great roof terrace!
Elevator waiting time is terrible though. The only negative I found so far.

More about this Rate.Better try call the hotel and ask okay for the Mactan suite. Call New World Manila bay Hotel and ask? Ask if 162000(edit i looked wrong and thought it was 169k sorry)for 3 nights is possible (or 2400000 for maximum price). mactan suite and new worlds excecutive suites are huge. I didnt ask for them but was tempted by various hotels and their inhouse selling staffs when arrived there(respective places). I declined presitential suites though which i by memory think was above 100k a night.. Never booked them online. At the Shang i guess i did originaly booked a suite 75sqm or something for 16000 per night. Adding in 25000 extra per night for the Mactan suite plus a taxes and plus some pizzas and drinks final bill was 162k no matter what people would think.. But i pay the bill not u guys:-)
Edit; i dont know where the crazy price of 169000k come from all the time it was only 162k sorry. Still even if i missed on a 7k the above mentioned was incl..

Holy sh*t Batman!
The room charges appear p16000, but there are supplements of 25000 and 2500 (its a bit fuzzy) per night? WTF!Yeah roomcharge for the original deluxe suite was 16900 php per night. Addons were 25000 php on top of that for the Mactan suite (I think in the Shangri la room overview is called specialty suites and is around 180 sqm). They are not bookable online but through calls or e mails. But as this was an upgrade on scene I just felt the temptation. I misunderstood initialy the frontdesklady as I thought the upgrade came at a cost of 25 k in total but I found out later it wasnt and per night. Didn't want to create any hazzles though as girls had allready started to arrive on scene. "We only live once" is my motto.
Also the Mercedes Benz S300 transportation at 5555 php is uncalled for and not needed in a city where traffic hardly moves. But why not sit stuck in a nice place waiting for movement. What i reacted most upon during my stay was the shitty inroom dining pizza at 1100pisos something. Shakeys much better and at Glorrietta 4 u get a familysized one for 5-600pisos.. Shangs pizza was tiny and was just used as sidings to Jagermeister and vodkas. Limited time between sessions prevented me from using the Glorietta option and in this aspect Ascott is much more convenient to stay at:-) Ascott with its serviced spacious apts(80sqm exceutive 1 bdr apt)still my number one choice but on last stay it seemed crowded(maybe they get some extra biz from the close down over at Intercon).. Huge number of USmilitary people stayed there as well. I hate regular hotelsrooms(what i call shoeboxrooms)and i appreciate having the kitchenoption with real fridge so i can stock up with ingredients needed for mongering. And make my sandwich with ham and edamer cheese..
Holy sh*t Batman!

Yeh, Batman has expensive tastes. I am quite happy with a shoe box.Yeah and most people are. I've just come to the conclusion that, and I travel 250-270 days a year, I want to obtain my life simulare to back home. I feel strangled in small rooms with only the small minibar you can not open totaly bcs the bed is to big (no pun intended). This Shang room and the stay here are to much and no matter what kind of money I do / did have its simply not worth it. This room was more dedicated for hosting gangbangs with 12 ladies and 20 guys or just plain biz meetings. Staying there alone felt in away a tad laim (after I realized what I'd done). Well I wasnt to much alone in it to be frank but I for sure didn't host any gangbangsparties there.
Do the girls care if it is a nice room in a posh hotel or a dreadful worndown, pussysmelling lovehotel?(debated over and over again). Some do some don't would be my sane answer to that. I tend mostly direct my action to, lets call them, middle / upper class kind of girls (with a few obvious exceptions). The exceptions could fuck in a carpark I am sure and if I brought a blancet they would call it lux. For my other girls which mostly come from and live in furnished homes I do think its of some importance that I don't live in a dump. Based on the number of selfies taken from the girls visiting I do at least think they got some nice FB updates a few days later. That beeing said the meetups was set long before I knew where I was staying.
Something between the dump and Mactan suite would be fine I believe and this would be the places where I mostly stay.
I am quite happy with a shoe box.For the price people pay for a shoebox of less than 30 sqm you can usually find a larger condo with more amenities on airbnb. You won't get the daily housekeeping usually, but if you ask for it many landlords have their own maid who can swing by and change linen.

Stayed at 1 day at a bay view suite but upgraded the next 4 days to the excecutive suite. Nice suite of 135 sqm. 28 K php a night (but you get access to the residense lounge incl bringing one guest for free). Bayview suite was running around 16,5 k php a night. Both prices are incl taxes.

Around 7 mtrs x 4 mtrs. Security at front door. Less than P1000 per day. Found it 29 yrs ago and never stayed at any other joint since. Like and old shoe, nice fit. About 10 room Pensionne, family friendly environment. Not giving address. Find your own shoe box lads, they are out there.

Great breakfast buffet with all kinds of food stations and the residence lounge with food all day and free flowing drinks and enough finger foods to make a dinner out of which I have been doing the last few nights. Yes it is a really shitty area with people sleeping on the sidewalks across the street. Great health club with wet and dry saunas, and an Olympic pool as well. I like the Suite I have with a view of the Bay on the top floor and individual temperature controlled rooms. It's also a short walk to the Robinson mall and LA Cafe as well.

Walk distance to Jam Liner Buendia Terminal.
Any other decent hotels around. Just crash one night and go.

I'd like to try an AirBNB apartment this time around. But there's always the chance it will be not monger friendly. Any suggestions of decent apartments, $40-60 per night, that have worked well? Ermita / Malate area preferred. Feel free to PM me if you like.
Thanks!

Thanks!Extremely unlikely a private condo will have any rule about this. Play it straight, usual common sense don't break / steal stuff, don't annoy others yada yada. Ancillary staff will observe & remember your comings & goings.

Ermita / Malate area preferred. Feel free to PM me if you like. Thanks!Stayed in Malate area a couple times recently in AirBNB apartments. I found that the decent ones in that area run a little more expensive than your price range. In order to get those prices you will sacrifice things such as proximity to easy transportation, shopping, safer surroundings, mongering bars--and they probably will be smaller places with less comfortable beds and furnishings. The places I stayed would have had no girl friendly issues. It occurs to me that p4 p girls may even be impressed with condo rentals; makes it seem like you know your way around. But some of the condo complexes have security stations, and you may have to help check the lady in past security. They may also be reluctant for you to enter with a large menage. Just tell security the extras are visiting for a short time. Remember that the downside on apartments is that most have no cleaning or linen change services, although they may be available for a price. You are on your own, although some of the apartment complexes have drop-off laundry that may turn it around in 24 to 48 hours. Places I stayed had advertised good WiFi signal, and they were right: better than the signal in many Malate hotels. Another possible hitch: if your international flight arrives late it may be less convenient to get the apartment owner to meet you at the unit after midnight. (Although in my two stays they had made arrangements for somebody to meet me.) Never an issue with that at hotels.

Everybody here knows what you are doing. Act with decorum, you'll be fine. The more expensive the hotel, the more likely they will real functioning security, other than that tally ho!

Seems most fellas here are in the p2000 - p4000 per night tier, and the shoestring lifestyle and travel is often ridiculed when one mentions bus travel, street food, and the like.
Your pension poses an interesting challenge; would airbnb not only meet it, but perhaps even beat it? To beat it, I consider amenities beyond those found at a pension, such as a kitchen, swimming pool, and / or gym. The airbnb place had to have TV, aircon, and security. The daily linen change can't been met because these aren't hotels, and I have no way of finding out whether they have double-thick brick walls. You win those two categories.
I set the stay for a week in Sept (17 -24), daily rate not to exceed p1000 (I used the peso as the currency), and applied filters like kitchen, pool, TV, AC, etc. Eight results, 2 of which are in Malate and 2 Makati - one at the corner of Kalayaan & Makati Ave, which makes it a short walk to Burgos. Of the 8 this is the nicest, https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4042372?check_in=2016-09-17&guests=2&check_out=2016-09-24, which happens to be one walking distance to Burgos.
Who wins?

I'm visiting Manila for a few days and staying (as usual) in Makati. However, my flight leaves the Phils late at night, so I am going to check out of my AirBnB accommodations on the last day and have about 8 hours to kill before going to the airport. I'm looking for an affordable place that I could stay for just the afternoon. Possibly close to LA Cafe or EDSA, as those seem to be options for a daytime quickie before I depart the country.
I've considered getting an AirBnB and just leaving early, but wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions. Trying to keep the budget minimal since I won't actually be sleeping there.
Thanks, as always!

Thanks, as always! If I remember correctly I do think I did the half day stay / rate at Riviera Mantion (across the street from New World Manila Bay Hotel better known (still) as the old Hyatt Casino Hotel). You call them and ask because I don't think those rates are viewable online.

Thanks, as always! The Duck Inn, Malate. 3 blocks from G-Point, 4 blocks from Robinson's, and 6 blocks from LA Caf.

1207 M. H. Del Pilar Street. Queen bed rooms start at p1300 overnight. Full-on restaurant. No elevator (all rooms on floors 2 and 3).
You can also get short-time rates at other hotels, try Eurotel, on Pedro Gil, across from Robinson's Malate.
Also nearby Duck Inn, is Southern Cross Hotel, about p1400 for a queen bed (small room, dated hotel, elevator).

If you want a gangbang it's p300 for each additional guest.

Hey guys,
I am making my first trip to Asia, going on a 10 week tour of SE Asia, sort of a retirement present to myself. I start in Manila. No particular reason, just the logistics of it, anyways I am trying to decide on the best area to stay. From what I have read the traffic is a nightmare there, I am hoping to do sightseeing etc. , this is not exclusively mongering trip, although I imagine it will still be a daily thought / occurrence. From what I have read it seems like the greenbelt area would provide me with the most flexibility, that is ease of going up to Burgos st and also going to the old part of the city (and manila cafe). Along with the local entertainment complex in greenbelt. Is this a correct assumption?
Thanks for your thoughts on this.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. There are three main areas to stay.
1. Upscale is Makati with green belt and Burgos bars. Expensive clubs and expensive girls. Freelancers also expensive.
2. Middle is mall of Asia area. With lots of casinos. Heritage hotel is opp EDSA entertainment complex. Lots of clubs with good looking girls.
3. Economy is Ermita area. LA cafe is walking distance. Freelancers at Robinson mall.
You can also try out different ares. Money does not equate service or friendliness.

Hey guys,
I am making my first trip to Asia, going on a 10 week tour of SE Asia, sort of a retirement present to myself. I start in Manila.... I am trying to decide on the best area to stay. Hi TC, I think you are going to enjoy your present. Considering that this is your 1st Asian trip and that you have allowed yourself a good amount of time to get around and visit multiple destinations in multiple countries, I suggest that you stay in Makati for the first leg of your trip, however long you decide that should be, (I would not stay LESS than 5 nights), allow yourself to break in easy to the PI, have a great time, and then stay an equal amount of time in the Bay area (Pasay, Malate/Ermita) for the last leg of your trip before departing for home. Both areas of Metro Manila have very good hotels and excellent nightlife, but the areas are very different and each is worth exploring on its own. As you already realize, the travel times between the different municipalities can be very time consuming. For example, a taxi from the Hyatt City of Dreams to Burgos Street can take anywhere from 30 to 40 to 60 minutes or longer depending on the traffic and the time. My feeling is, why make that trip if you don't have to? The solution is to stay in both areas since you have the time and enjoy yourself.
I will let other board members offer their suggestions on where else in the PI to go (hint: AC), but are you interested in Beaches or Scuba Diving? The PI has some great islands, Palawan for example, for these natural recreations. I would only add here that during your 10 weeks in SE Asia you should definitely hit BKK, Pattaya, and possibly Jakarta, Macau ($$$) and Phnom Penh for girls; Siem Reap and Ubud for a little culture. And although 10 weeks sounds like a long time, it really isn't, so my tip to you is don't try to go everywhere. It is better to slow down and spend quality time wherever you go. Its worth it.
Just my experience, but with 10 weeks, you can have a great time! My longest trip was about 10 days. In Manila, as already mentioned, the Malate area is a good place, Manila Bay Cafe, Point, Amazonia, Cowboy, all within walking distance. The Lotus Garden is my go to, decent hotel, decent food. As stated, not the best area, but you should find plenty of diamonds in the rough. Greenbelt area, Burgos, Havana, etc is something you should try. More expensive, but freelancers not that bad. Angeles not too far away, Subic an option for a couple of days. If spending all 10 weeks in Phil, check out FilipinaCupid, Date in Asia, etc. Maybe find one (or several) you can spend some time with and go to Boracay. You can read this forum for how the dating thing works. There are many options in the Phil!

Thanks for your thoughts on this. You've received some good suggestions. However I think you would get more calibrated responses if you shared something about what you're really looking for. That is, what are your personal preferences? What types of encounters do you prefer? What sorts of hotels meet your budget and tastes? Have you had prior experiences in third world countries? I'm not trying to disparage your post, just suggesting that the more information you feel comfortable providing, the more helpful the responses are likely to be.

I wanted to thank you guys for your help and quick responses. I will be in manila for 1 week, arriving very late, then moving on to an island vacation in El Nido (Palawan island) 5 nights, then 4-5 days in AC. Leaving for Cambodia from there. So not entirely mongering focused. I was planning on seeing some of the historical stuff a couple of days, I figure I will just deal with the traffic on those few occasions, maybe stop by the Havana cafe when I am over that way. I realize staying in Makati is probably best for me. I was looking at city garden grand hotel, decent fares on websites, nice pool. I am looking to wander around, eat well. At night I will most likely visit both regular clubs / restaurants, etc. Along w the gogo bars. Take an occasional bargirl, but it sounds like there is also a nice selection of freelancers around. Always starting vacations w / best of intentions, but depending on how the nights go, the days may be more lazy at the pool. I have traveled a fair bit in south america, so looking to finally compare. I love Latinas, but Asians are my absolute favorite, can't wait to be surrounded, If anyone thinks there is a much better hotel, that is better located, better for whatever reason, similar price I would be happy to hear your opinion.
Thanks again,
Chris
Hello there!
Need some advises here, I am planning to visit the philippines for a period of 1 week, after reading some posting here, I feel that I want to try the following mongering places: Ermita / malate, Burgos and AC. I wonder if it is advisable to go all three said place as I know AC is about 2 hours or so away from Manila, while Ermita / Malate and Burgos should be closer (based on google map). Should I stay in one hotel to mongering both ermita / malate and burgos? I have seen some hotel such as New World Manila Bay Malate , city garden, cherry blossom etc. But not have any idea if those hotel are lady friendly or not?
I am still reading some post though but I hope to have some up to date advises too and best recomendation on the hotel will be appreciated too.
Thanks and cheers.

MD.All hotels are girl friendly. If you have booked a lets day double room (2 occupants) I have read here and other places, never experienced myself though, you might have to pay for girl no 2, 3 and so on. I have brought 4 girls in tow staying at New World Manila Bay Hotel (Bayview Suite) and no one did raise any eyebrows.

For me, I would split it 3 days in Manila, then 4 days at ABC in Angeles. AC is not a return day trip. Yes, it will be a two hour drive, yes it is worth it. The transfer from your Manila hotel to AC should cost <P3 K by private car. There are cheaper methods available. On the day of your departure flight, just arrange a driver direct from AC to MNL terminal.

Thanks for your advise and feedback.
I usually booked my hotel reservation thru Expedia or agoda, it is normally automatically for 2 guest, I wonder if booking thru this will also enable me to be able to bring my girl or girls without any issue? I plan to stay in New World Manila Bay hotel too, I know it is near Malate / Ermita area but it seems a bit distance from Burgos? Should I also booked another one near burgos area? I try to stay in one single hotel than moving evey 2 days or so.
May be some idea on the bar fine market prices in Burgos or ermita bars? I also will visit LA CAFE that last visit way back 5 years ago I got some good pick but that was the only area I visited and already a long while now. Guest prices change?
Cheers,
MD.

BDHi BD,
Many thanks for your kind feedback and advises. It surely give me a big help.
Yes, I surely will booked two different hotel for those 2 location, I plan to booked;.
1) ERMITA / MALATE area: New World manila bay hotel.
2) AC: either ABC or Lewis grand, are these both right on the right action area? I hate to walk too far after my pick as I want to minimize the "walk of fame with different girls every night".
One more thing, as I asked earlier, should I also booked a different hotel in Burgos? Or I can stay in New World Manila Bay hotel and go to Burgos for mongering?
I plan to stay Manila for 3 nights and in AC for 2 nights. Tight schedule hope this is enough.
I am trying to gather more info on the Burgos and Malate bar price (BaR FINE for LT and ST) as well as that of AC, as you have recomend in AC at dollhouse, thois will surely my visiting places too.
Thanks for your further advise, Needed it as I have bad expericne in the past for rip off and ruining my mongering spirit before.
In the philippine, I only VISITED WAY BACK 5 YEARS AGO ONLY IN la CAFE but only once with a nice pick then.
Cheers,

MD.I checked out of Cherry Blossom this morning (next to Robinsons Place mall). It's a hotel that has seen better days and I have mixed feelings about it. The staff are smartly dressed and the lobby is (of course) nice to look at. Upstairs the rooms are a little rundown, the pillows lumpy, the bed a plastic mattress with half a mattress protector, a bed cover that went straight into the corner. Shower worked and was strong, but occasional hot / cold bursts if somebody nearby flushes a toilet or whatever. I walked in and paid 2550 I think (printed rate card) for a deluxe (Asked about the superior and he said the room was bigger but that was it.
The room is set up for two people. That is, two pillows, two drink glasses, two towels. However, when I returned with a pair of girls later that night they happily and speedily brought up additional sheets, pillow, towels, and glasses.
Breakfast buffet: edible. Rice, scrambled egg, American style bacon, chicken sausage thing, juice, coffee. Fills a hole, nothing more.
Check out was frustrating. Right before leaving the room I dropped a bottle of Red Horse which, of course, shattered and glass and beer was everywhere on the floor. I told housekeeping who were outside, and when I checked out I told them too. They wanted to charge me for the broken glass (110 PHP) and for the extra person (900 PHP) who didn't even stay the night. But sir, you asked for an extra bed. No I didn't. Have a look in the room. It's not there. AT least, I never found it. And the glass? I told you it was a BEER BOTTLE, not a drinking glass. Anyway, 15 minutes later and not a cent poorer, I was allowed to go. Stupid thing was I could have just dropped the key in the dropbox and walked out without being honest.
One good thing about the hotel is its proximity to LA Cafe. Last night I paid 2000 PHP each LT which I believe is above average cost. Mind you, 5 girls in a row all started at 3 k each. I'll report that in the appropriate forum.
All that said, for that price in that area I doubt you'd get that much better so you pays your money, you takes your choice!
Might want to consider changing hotels if you go to Makati. Geographically not far but traffic can be a bastard, and some girls might not want to go far.

Hi Vitaplex,
Thanks for your advise and feedback.
Cheers,
MD.Booking through Expedia and / or Agoda doesn't change anything both regarding girls (you can still bring them) and prices. In fact I have the latter years found to book directly with hotels to me even cheaper (for Manila I have the latter years stayed at Fairmont, Raffles, Shangri-la Makati, Sofitel, Hyatt COD, New World Manila Bay and Riviera Mansion). If you go through with your plan with only 3 days in Manila, then changing hotels and city area will steal a lot of valuable time. Travelling within Manila city borders only happens inbetween the hours of 10:30 pm to 6 am. If you stay Makati or Malate it will take you between 20 to 40 min travelling late night / nighttime. I would only stay one place. I've been to LAC 3 years ago or so so other BM's probably have better recent intel from here. But I read it is still a hit and miss place which is how I viewed it "back in the days". Some diamonds in the rough to be found. I have no experience from girliebars (EDSA, closer to Malate, or Burgous). I only observe through reading here Burgous and KTV girls start to get pricey. I am a datingsite guy myself.

Holy Cow, I don't stay in Sogos except as a last minute short-term option, but while booking my next Metro Manila visit see several locations under 20 USD per night. I'm still not going to book there for an extended visit, but for the gentlemen looking for the most bang for his buck I don't see how you could beat it. For all it's tawdriness, they're all safe refuges. Maybe a room there for double- or overlapping lady dates.

I am about a month late posting two reviews, but better late than never.
I stayed one night in Boulevard Mansion. Cringe, cringe. I did so thinking I might take a quick look at LA Cafe, and because I was unsure whether Grand Regency Suites (next review) had late night staff to handle registration. Many of us have depicted Boulevard Mansion as a well-worn hotel. It still is, especially in terms of carpet, furniture, and so on. But at least this time it was clean; employees seem to be doing their best to work with the existing structure. Staff were polite and responsive, bed was comfortable, AC worked well, and the view was actually quite good: I could see southward, except for tall buildings blocking the view, and also out onto Manila Bay. Complementary breakfast was adequate, barely; coffee was plentiful but not very good.
There is not much to recommend this place, except for two things: it is two short blocks from LA Cafe and it is easy to get to from the airport. I had landed at Terminal One this time, and the taxi ran into minimal congestion getting from the terminal to Roxas. Then it's a straight shot down Roxas, since the Boulevard Mansion is on the frontage road along Roxas, just a block beyond Pedro Gil intersection. So the narrow niche that this place fits is for guys who have two or three days in Manila, want to get quickly from the airport to horizontal recreation, and have accommodated themselves to the prospects at LA Cafe, Amazonia, G-Point, or Robinsons' Place mall freelancers.
BTW, my flight got delayed an hour by traffic control at NAIA, so that I did not end up going to LAC the first night. I went once a week later and was pleasantly surprised.

After one night at Boulevard Mansion I moved to Grand Regency Suites for about eight nights. Grand Regency is one of about four hotel operations in the Birch Tower on Bocobo Street, less than a block south of Pedro Gil and Robinsons' Place Mall. This particular company has rooms on four floors, but not four consecutive floors, so maybe something like floor 24, then 31,32, 35, or something like that. They have staff more or less permanently stationed on each of the floors. In general, it's a crazy business plan. Since the space they rent is probably premium cost, they don't have space for their own services, aside from a coffee shop and check-in counter on the first floor. So they outsource everything: linen service, WiFi, guest laundry. One day I was without bed linen until nine at night because their linen service delivery had been delayed by monsoon flooding. I sent laundry out two different times, but they clearly overcharged me the second time. But the hotel couldn't resolve the problem, since some laundry several blocks away in Malate had done the work and the pricing. WiFi was inoperable in the room for the first three days. When I asked, they claimed the problem was with the provider, PLDT. The said, "the provider says it's because of the weather" (monsoon rain and flooding every day I was in Manila). But PLDT was the provider for their coffee shop, and the signal there was fine throughout. The third morning, probably out of guilt, they sent up free room service breakfast, which was not warm by the time it arrived. WiFi was fine once it was restored on day four. So to me the business plan is crazy, having to depend on all these outside vendors and having their employees scattered though four floors and the ground floor of the building. At least three other hotel companies are operating similarly in the building.
The rooms are sort of suites, but the bathroom is small, sleeping area is small, and the "kitchen" area consists of two stools, a small counter, a mini-fridge, and a microwave. A balcony (32nd floor) gave a nice view to the north (over Robinsons' Place) and out toward Manila Bay.
The four elevators were inadequate for a building with 50 floors of small units. I spent more time waiting for elevators than riding them. Others in the building seemed to be primarily Arabs and Koreans. The former were mostly late middle aged men, and the Koreans varied from 20's to late middle age. Many of both these groups were often escorting scantily-dressed and heavily-tatooed Filipinas in and out of the building. Filipino friends told me that many of these were probably running overseas employment recruitment businesses. I had not been in the area in several years and was surprised by the growth in number of restaurants, hookah shops, and other businesses with Arabic name signs, especially along Adriatico across from Robinsons' Place and their highrise building.
There is a pool on one of the lower floors, but another ISG regular has told me the pool is often not very warm. It did seem that the check-in area in the building lobby made for very relaxed girl-friendly practices. The ads on Agoda insisted that every guest above two occupants must be paid, but I had extra guests overnight and was never asked to pay. I suspect this is because the security guard at the door works for the building rather than any one of the hotel companies, so he has little incentive to enforce such rules and even less capability to keep track of who everybody is that comes and goes.
The pool, the view, quick access to Robinsons Place, and girl friendly policy are the only things to recommend this place over other cheap monger hotels in the area, such as Rothman, Las Palmas, Palm Plaza, Riviera, Executive Plaza, and Cherry Blossoms. There are several elements on the negative side of that comparison.
Hi BD,
Many thanks for your kind feedback and advises.
Tight schedule hope this is enough..Hey MD,
If you have only 3 nights in Manila, and haven't been around for a long time, I personally would recommend Makati over the Manila Bay area. There are tens of hotels in Makati which is much nicer in the daytime with better quality hotels, restaurants and girlie bars. In my experience, using Waze will easily get you from Makati either to the bay area (including LA Cafe, several KTVs and EDSA Complex) or paranaque (if AF1 is appealing to you) in less than 30 minutes in the early evening / late night time. Of course, for just 3 nights the options inside Makati should suffice (P. Burgos, Cafe Havana, casas etc.), but if one would like to get out and about, I find Makati to still be the best bet.
If you want specific hotel recommendations in Makati you can fibd plenty here, I personally like the Salcedo village area, which is packed with hotels and residences, but really, all of Makati is.
As for A/C, both ABC and Lewis Grand are very good hotels, but are not "in the middle of the action" per se. I guess it depends what you refer to as action, but since you've mentioned dollhouse, sounds like walking street is your area. If that's the case ABC has an extension hotel names Fields Plaza Suites which is basically a mongering heaven, I would strongly recommend even though it is the priciest choice in town, just for two nights shouldn't be so bad.
Enjoy,
D

There are several elements on the negative side of that comparison.Concur, its location next to Robinson's and near LAC / G-Point makes it good, and the nightlife is vibrant in the area (gritty might be a better word). Also right next door to Bellagio Square, a collection of indoor / outdoor resto / bars with live band on the weekend. However the several entities that rent out the various rooms at Birch Tower leave a lot to be desired, there is not a lot in the way of customer service (office might be on the first floor, 13th floor, or other floor). The wifi was always good on the ground floor (coffee shop area), and hit / miss in the room. A single building wouldn't have multiple service providers, right?
However that pool. I remember it on the 8th or 9th floor. While its open to the elements / air, it is completely covered by the floor above it from sunlight. I don't think the sun hits it at any time of day, and hence its rather frigid (no exwife jokes, please) all the time (brisk! OTOH I just pulled it up on maps. google.com's satellite imagery, and from above it shows a completely outdoor pool on a higher level. YMMV.

OTOH I just pulled it up on maps. google.com's satellite imagery, and from above it shows a completely outdoor pool on a higher level. YMMV.But the only pool I see on the Google Earth image is on the north side of the building. Even at that latitude, with a 50 story building blocking the sun, it may still not get much direct sun. My "suite" was on the north side and I could look down onto part of the pool below that extended out from the building, but it mostly seemed to be in shade. The only exception was late in the evening when the sun had shifted around over Manila Bay, and at that point the sun was too low on the horizon to create much heat.
OK guys need a little help here been to PI several times and this time I want to find a hotel that doesn't require me to show ID to rent or for her. Very friendly place. I think you know what I mean. Anyway help would be great.

FRancescozOdd thing Frances is that you have 9 FRs all asking questions and you ask another about hotels in Manila when there is a wealth of information on this board about that question. About hotels. The hotel policy etc. Just odd you did not read about hotels in general, call the hotel, research before you plant another question on the board.

How is the city garden grand hotel in Makati? I found it clser to burgos st? I wonder for the mongering is concern, more action in makati than manila? I never been to those burgos bar and beside I am alone, unlike in LAC, I have been there several time, just simply order drinks and do searching.
Last time I went to EDSA complex, which is like the nana entertaiment plaze in Bangkok but the BF and girl cost way too high, last time I heard around 6000 pesos fore the girl but I don't know how much the BF, and that was way so many years ago. I wonder in burgos bar, is almost the same as edsa comples structure way?
Cheers,
MD.

MD.Your information about EDSA is wrong. 1950 for bar, girl asks for 2000-2500ST, 3000-4000 LT, depends on you and the girl. This info was current as of August '16.

Bit of a random one this, let's say I was spending the weekend in a hotel in Phil and I didn't want the girl to know my full real name, could I use a false surname at check-in? I have one credit card with this different name, but not actual photo ID or paper ID.
Long gone are the days or securing hotel rooms with cash and no ID. Anyone have any experience with this?

If its a long term hotel they will ask for ID such as a passport or something to that nature. They also will tell what room you are staying in if someone inquires. I have had it happen to me at the Dusit and the New World. If you trying to be discreet use Eurtotel, Sogo and Victoria court. I used to think those guys who used those hotels were just cheap, broke bastards but those hotels will protect you in the event something goes amiss.

Legit western style hotels are going to demand ID.
It shouldn't be necessary to go to the extreme of using false names. If for whatever reason you're concerned a bed partner is suspicious of your story and likely to check then use Filipino accomodation instead. These are basic, cheap, clean & available by the hour or day for cash.
You could try some of the seedier SOGO's or Victoria Secret love hotels, you may get away with it.
Frankly if it's getting that serious you might want to consider easier fields to plough nes pa?

Just instruct the front desk that your name is not to be revealed to anyone under any circumstances. Most large hotels will readily comply with your request and will be unruffled by it. No normal hotel in Manila is going to allow you to check in without asking for some form of picture identification.

GE.I disagree with this assessment. The front desk people do not care what info they give to local caller. Even if it is a 5 star hotel they cannot fully control the actions of employees. As for the employees are concerned they feel there is no harm in giving out info. Besides front desk people rotate constantly. I never see the same people working in any hotel I re visited. Another problem is the visiting girls need to know who they are visiting. When they are checked by the security or reception they need to know room number and the person name. In Philippines there are no secrets.

I have never been given free access to a guest room without there being some sort of check that the room is expecting a visitor.
As GE says, it is probably linked to the quality of the hotel, and a good hotel trains its staff in basic discretion, even if as Sammon says, they rotate a lot.
For example, I frequently need to meet business people staying in Oakwood near ADB in Ortigas.
They ALWAYS call the room first and do not tell me the number until the guest has agreed I am a genuine visitor.
You cannot access the elevator until the security guy / gal says it's OK, and they use their card because you need a room key for access.
Most of the 4-star and 5-star hotels use this process now.
Obviously in the cheaper rock-bottom places, there is zero checking, so anything goes. I work all over the Philippines and other SE Asian countries, and I have learned long ago to carry in my travel kit a wedge-shaped plastic door jam that I use each night on the door in my hotel room. If there is no checking of visitors accessing guest rooms floors in any Philippines hotel, there are also probably numerous copies of keys that will fit your hotel door.

I have never been given free access to a guest room without there being some sort of check that the room is expecting a visitor. To clarify my situation, I'm heading to Bohol with a delightful young filly, but she's smart and switched on and is not currently privy to my real surname. It's a five star beach resort and generally at these places your name shows up on the TV, or you need to use it when charging stuff to the pool bar.
Ideally what I'd like is that at check-in my "other" surname is used. Appreciate that in modern times this is unlikely, but worth drawing on your collective experiences nonetheless.
As for ploughing other fields, this girl would be one hell of a harvest and thus, it's worth the hassle.

It will be difficult for you to check in using a fake name unless you have a fake name in what they refer to as "Valid I D". Very few Philippines hotels bother to program your name into the TV, but check it out first thing and if they don't do it then that hassle is removed.
Pay all your in-hotel bills by cash if she is with you and you don't want to trip up on the surname thing. That way no names appear on any charge accounts by the pool or anywhere else. It will be a small enough bill anyway so you don't need to carry thousands to the pool.

I just explain I only carry copy for security purposes.
This hotel is owned by waterfront hotels. I got executive room for three nights 2800 per night all inclusive including breakfast for two. When I booked air Asia flight there was a option managed through Expedia for this price.
King size bed, nice air con, nice bathroom without tub (shower only). Security will hold I the of girls till they leave. Not sure if it is ok to bring two girls together.
Breakfast spread is pretty nice. Lots of choices. For me I need a buffet breakfast to re charge. After that do not need anything till dinner. So I tend to book deals with breakfasts.
If anybody is looking to have multiple girls in the room with no security hassles I suggest booking at best western.
Thanks, I'm sure I can manage around it all, hopefully it won't add any stress to what should be a blissful 3 days in paradise. You will manage easily mate.
Don't let simple things that are easy to manage spoil your holiday.
FWIW, I do a lot of business travel at present but I am given accommodation reimbursement and a lump sum per diem. This means that I need to produce receipts for accommodation reimbursement but I don't need receipts for food, laundry and other expenses (like massage, B/G s etc LOL).
I ALWAYS pay cash for everything in the hotel now. I have done this ever since I found that a hotel bill in Cebu had been padded by unexplained additions that were not seen by me until I had returned home and did some checking because, at check-out when there are lines waiting and time is racing, I just signed the chit and paid the total. Until that time I had just been signing for drinks, dinner, etc in hotel.
On a recent trip to Bkk and in a 5-star hotel I decided to just sign for everything in restaurants and by the pool and waddyaknow. Extra unexplained room bar consumption and a charge for a steak that I never had.
In the overall expenses, it is rarely much money but for me it is the principle more than anything. If you are in the habit of checking your bills when you return home then discovering such a theft it can leave a bad taste in one's mouth (if you let it of course).
In the past 2 years I simply pay cash for everything inside the hotel, so I know at check-out that ONLY the accommodation expense will be there (with maybe some laundry if it is a long-stay assignment of 2 weeks or more. Guys who use Air BnB which I am currently doing on a long-stay assignment will of course know that cash or credit cards is the only way to go for every-day expenses.

Kremlin (Classmates KTV), Sylvanus (Pegasus KTV), and Flight 168 (Air Force 1) are all high end Manila versions of Bangkok soapies. I have been to Flight 168 several times. Its pretty good. I am looking forward to checking out Kremlin. These all sound like short term FKKs, do they offer day passes or reduced rates if you stay longer? Looked around but couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance!

Sometimes in Shangri la Makati hotel I feel great. Its quality and more than fresh. Good luck IP3.
These all sound like short term FKKs, do they offer day passes or reduced rates if you stay longer? Looked around but couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance!Manila massage spots (Flight 168, Kremlin etc.) are nothing like German FKKs.
They are just short time fishbowl brothels similar to Darling in Macau, just lower quality.
They have 3 room classes and 3 girl classes.
Usually you select a class, watch the girls sitting in the fishbowl, select the girl's number and she will meet you for a session in the room you are assigned.
I never found the correlation between girl service / looks and their class. My experience is that it's best to watch all 3 fishbowls, and then upgrade to the best room. The lower class rooms have a small bed and are generally pretty shitty (not that the higher class rooms are nice, they're just the better option).
In F168 this is easier to do as it's all on the same floor, in Kremlin different classes are on different floors so if you want to take a look at multiple fishbowls it could be a slight hassle. In my experience the highest class has for some reason the most limited variety of girls, mid class may be as many as 50 at one time.
Enjoy.

Couple of examples. Housekeeping can fix, housekeeping cannot fix.
1. Tropicana Apartments, Malate, 2 blocks from Robinson's.
2. Provincial hotel.
Newbs let item #2 there be a lesson: Butting your head against local custom in phils is like trying to teach a pig to sing: Its never successful, and it just annoys the pig.#2 above closely mirrors my experiences, whether in getting towels, scheduling a daily or supplemental cleaning service or whatever. Any hotel in Metro Manila with the below characteristics could dominate the ISG member market.
- Extra bath towels.
- Ability to schedule daily and supplemental cleaning service easily.
- Simple, decent in house or outsourced room service (revenue opportunity).
- Drinks in the fridge or a sari-sari / convenience-store in house (revenue opportunity).
- Reliable internet.
- Security calls the room when lady guest leaves alone to make sure all is well.
- Easy location for hailing a taxi.
Special note: Any hotel without that exasperating checkout process would dominate the market for visitors of all sorts!

On the other hand if you want 5 star service from 3 star hotels then it probably won't happen.

Hi,
I will be visiting Manila from the 14th of Nov. For 5 days. In spite of reading this forum I am still not clear which hotel to stay in. I would like to be in Makati near the action and would like to spend.
US $ 100 per night (the company reimburses me after submitting a bill up to $100 per night) Any hotel suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I am traveling to Manila in November and have been offered a good price (ticket + hotel) thru the airline at the following hotels. - Makati Palace hotel, Berjaya Makati hotel, Best western Oxford Suites and St Giles (Here I Have to pay a little extra) This my first trip to Manila and I guess I will look to have fun in Burgos. Which of these are girl friendly and close to the action. Which one would you recommend for a first timer.

You can try City Garden Hotel, City Garden Grand Hotel, St Gilles Hotel or Best Western Oxford Suites. You can get a room for $100 or less.

All the hotels that you have mentioned are guest friendly. I have stayed at Best Western Oxford Suites and St Gilles Hotel. They are OK but getting worn out now. For a first time, I can recommend any of the two.

I would not recommend Berjaya. Very poor front desk service the last tme I was there.

I have stayed at both. Best Western Oxford suites: Location is superb. However, the is no aircon in the hallways and for some reason, that really irritated me, cause I sweat a lot. Inside the rooms the aircon worked very well, but the rooms themselves are very worn. I am going in 2 weeks, and have booked the St. Giles, where I have stayed before also, but the difference between the two, for me, is very noticeable. Let me look at my booking here... I have 3 nights booked, so I received a 20% discount one night, 20% next night, and 15% the last night. Anyway, with tax and VAT the total is 9,912 pesos. About $210 USD for 3 nights. This is for a deluxe room. As I recall, the breakfast is not too bad. Also, I flew to Surigao, and the hotel stored my luggage for free until I returned 3 days later to pick it up. Service at the desk was very good.
It is within walking distance to all Burgos bars, short taxi to Greenbelt, etc. Always book for two. Enjoy.
Posted this link on the Thailand thread but it might be useful for guys booking hotels in Manila (or elsewhere in the Philippines).
Please don't turn this into an argument or debate about the merits or otherwise of Airbnb; that's a separate issue.
A friend had told me all the booking sites were actually owned by one company and I found that hard to believe so I went looking for evidence and found this link.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/travel/chi-travel-web-sites-story.html
It's actually only 4 major owners:
- Expedia Inc. : owns Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Hotwire.com, Venere.com, TripAdvisor.com plus TripAdvisor subsidiaries CruiseCritic.com, BookingBuddy.com, SmarterTravel.com, SeatGuru.com, AirfareWatchdog.com and IndependentTraveler.com.
- Orbitz Worldwide: owns Orbitz.com, CheapTickets.com and RatestoGo.com.
- Sabre Holdings Inc. : owns Travelocity.com, IgoUgo.com, LastMinute.com and the gigantic Sabre reservations system used by the travel industry. Travelocity also powers the search on Yahoo! Travel.
- Priceline.com Inc. : owns Priceline.com, Travelweb.com and Lowestfare.com.
I found it interesting to explain why there is so much variation across sites. Agoda isn't listed above but it's part of the Priceline group.
BTW. I use Hotels.com (aka Expedia) because I usually book for longer stays and I get a free night for every 10 nights. 3 free nights for every 30 nights is a nice bonus, especially when my company pays for the 30 nights anyway, so I have the 3 free nights for private use.
Hello everybody,
I am planing to visit for the first time Manila, almost decided to stay in Macati.
My question is, when looking on hotels.com most hotels have this "only registered hotels can stay in the room".
Do they enforce that? Does it mean I cannot have a different girl every night?
Thanks for any help or advice.

Sounds like you do lots of travelling so maybe they look after you due to your repeat business. Have found with Agoda "deals, discounts, rewards etc " do not add up to anything great but more of a ploy to get you to rebook.
Thanks.

Thanks. Is standard and I use this method usually using the same web site as RK.
But I also use toterhs to compare prices such as booking.com, hotelscombined.com, trivago.com and a few others to check prices and if much cheaper I won't go for hotels.com - case in point was I found a price on the IHG website for a Holiday Inn that was 50% of hotels.com.
But as clients do pay for a lot of my hotels this is a good freebie for me (and RK it seems).

You just need to register as a member prior to booking and they will automatically track your bookings.
I agree with WR that sometimes other sites can have cheaper options for the same hotel but you need to be very careful that the price quoted is the full price and that taxes and fees are not added when you get to the pay out. Sometimes they can drop the price by chopping breakfast off the deal.
For all these reasons I usually just stick with Hotels.com as it is swings and roundabouts and it can get very time-consuming switching around between sites looking for the "best deal".
Another "trick" I learned in Vientiane, Laos was to book through Hotels.com (aka Expedia) for 10 days (for a 30 -day assignment) and then chat to the Lao hotel's bookings office about extending for the next 20 days. They wanted to bypass having to pay Expedia their cut so they offered me a better deal to book directly with them by upgrading my room (for the same rate) but including all laundry done free of charge for the whole of my 30-day stay.
It turned out to be a very enjoyable assignment as the laundry service was outstanding and fast, and the room upgrade was excellent. I also got a free night for my 10 nights booking too.

Advantage: anonymity, particularly where girls might try to find your name through the hotel. Good luck in locating "John Doe" or other such nom de plume.
It was frustrating, though, to find that Phil hotels would not match preferred rates given to travel agencies on websites, not even for cash up front. So, these days, I typically just book with credit card to get the lower rates. Bye-bye anonymity. Hello paper trail. Ah, life is getting shorter, so my "give-a-flick" quotient has been steadily going down.
Was in Vientiane in the early 70's. Initially, stayed at Lane Xang hotel, then transferred to Vieng Vilay. At the VV, for a small tip, the bellboy would gladly bring in a "special" soupe chinoise, which turned out to be infused with weed. All quite legal under the laws of the host country at that time. Not now! VV was just next door to the White Rose, with private shows like Patpong. Sometimes, would see newbies taking out sexy girls who were not born girls. A giggle. Also, visited Madame Lulu's, across the street from the Heineken neon sign, near the Chicom Embassy (remember, this was the early 70's). "(C)'etait la vie. " Fond memories. No more.

Cheers!Red planet is girl friendly. However, the guard will ask your girl to register and sometimes leave ID. I refused to let them take the girl ID.
Isn't there a new hotel in that area. Hotel 101 - in Pasay? Was hoping someone else would reply.

Rates at Golden Phoenix apparently start just below 4 k. http://www.goldenphoenixhotelmanila.com.
Good location near Mall of Asia and not far from the airport. If anyone has stayed there, some of us would appreciate a report.
Hi all,
Just wondering what the frequent visitors of Manila feels about air BNB versus hotels. I usually go for convenience and stay at hotels near Makarti. However, I have read that some stay in the apartments close to Markarti such as the Gramercy. I thought this would be a good option given I can still be in that area and be easier to bring a date back rather than hotel near the RLD. My concern is it seems lots of the Air BNB places say that theres people at the lobby of the apartments, check ID's etc and was wondering if people had issues with bringing guests home.
Thanks in advance.

I booked a suit for four nights and was upgraded to the executive suite and breakfast was good too. Also, guest friendly. I was just there early March.
If I were there for just one night I would go a little cheaper, but for a longer stay I think it's a nice choice.
BTW, Staff is very helpful.

Thanks in advance.Stayed at Knightsbridge in Makati a few months ago. For reference, see the pic / map (St. Giles Hotel lower-right corner, yellow street running top-to-bottom is Makati Ave, also see Grammercy residences as point of reference) for location of Knightsbridge. Its 2 blocks from A-Venue. This was my second experience using a condo unit (other was in Birch Tower / Malate). Amazing view of the city (60 floors up). Wonderful all-around value: $61 USD / night (that included the air bnb fee) for a spacious studio (unlike Birch Tower's tiny studio) with balcony. Large outdoor pool, weight room on 3rd floor.
As to security. This is a large condo with possibly a thousand or more units (I could be wrong, but 60+ floors with easily 20+ units per floor), lots of people (families, vacationers) coming / going 24 hours per day. The door security guys are there 24 hours, and a front desk staff of several. All very professional with me, and very kind. If a girl came in with me they ignored her. Every girl who came separate from me (even if she'd been with me prior) was stopped and ID taken, and the security guy rang my room every time a girl (separate from me) arrived or departed. The door security and front desk folk never batted an eye at this process, it seemed routine to them.
Related security story. One of my regulars ('Z') had departed after breakfast for home about 10:30 am. An evening session, an early morning session (she is the one who is much hornier than I am -- that ain't never a bad thing, and ain't always a good thing) was had, then showers and breakfast. Fortunately / unfortunately after breakfast, some kissy-face led to another session (killing me here chick), her second shower and departure. About 11 am I hopped in for my second shower and missed her txt: "Oh my friend have emergency. Can she come your condo she need a financial". About noon I was getting ready to go out to lunch when the condo phone rang: "Sir, front desk. Miss 'X' here to see you". Who? What? I'll be right down. When I got to the lobby there was a mid-20's hottie, saying she was a friend of Z's, and that Z had txt me about her. It felt fishy so I had her sit in the lobby while I hopped the elevator back up (60 floors is a long, multiple ear-popping ride in each direction) to check my phone. Her story checked out. I called the front desk and had her sent up.
In the AC thread we are currently discussing the odd things that routinely happen in phils, but our folk at home would not believe. Well here I was again. The girl's emergency: She was desperate to pay a lawyer a retainer fee. If someone in your home country told you that you'd vacation overseas one day and the horny girl you were sexing (pics posted many times, and will be again) would bang you twice in the morning and then send a friend over for a nawty session (pics later) and you'd end up part of a child custody issue, all for under $100, you'd say to them: Are you crazy? For the rest of us: It really IS more fun in Philippines!
Hi all,
Just wondering what the frequent visitors of Manila feels about air BNB versus hotels. Westcoast gave you an excellent answer. I'll add this: staying in a condo helps remove the stink of sex tourist from the girl's nose. If you read the dating sites you may come across some girls stating, "No sex tourists" in their profiles. Rightly or wrongly people associate a hotel with a temporary stay. And rightly or wrongly people associate a condo with residency. Just because a girl assumes, based on your condo address, you live here and decides to meet you is no fault of yours.
There is also one key difference. Hotels almost always have in-room safes. A quick check of airbnb condo and I found zero condos with in-unit safes here. I've never had a dating site girl steal anything from me. When I've been a victim of in-room crime it's been by bar girls. This rarely happens. Of the four incidents in my entire 20+ year mongering life it's been a cheap camera from a Bangkok hotel, no in-room safe; about $200 cash from a Phnom Penh hotel, no in-room safe, but she left me money in my wallet for taxi and airport departure tax, so she had a heart; an unknown amount of cash but less than $100 from a Manila condo; and a t-shirt from a Manila condo, which I didn't know about it until some other bargirls told me afterward. I did have one Manila bargirl warn me in the morning that if she wanted to she could have stolen my laptop and two mobiles whilst I was unconscious.

Thanks in advance.Going back to Makati later this week for one of my regular visits. Last 4 trips have used airbnb and works fine. . Have 4 scheduled for a 5 day period. Security staff will look, but if you are in a busy building that's all they will do. Did have one girl stopped when she left as security wanted to check it was ok with me, but that was only experience. In one of the airbnb places I've stayed no one checked anything (yet) plus, if yuo have that determined stride, that look straight ahead and have the girls hand in yours, it prevents some of the nonsense " Sir sir ". I always put valuable in my suitcase and lock it and never had an issue. And airbnb prices are soooooooo good.

I don"t have a long history of mongering experiences as you have (number of your reports says). I had picked girls from bars, a-gogo or massage places; I found some runners but not a single case of steeling. Never. Still I have lack of experiences on followings:
1. Never picked a girl from street.
2. Never taken a girl if I don't feel well chemistry. I mean did not fall on a hotty just for her looks.
3. If m in tour never been dunked while m with a girl.
Thank you for the replies! Didn't expect such great and detailed advice. Really much appreciated!!

SI.Never understood this question. Walk with confidence and pride and hold your girl, no one will bother you. Not sure what type of hotels you use, but booth Shang and Oakwood in Ortigas are fine. 30 years of mongering and never been stopped by anyone in any hotel anywhere, hence the lack of understanding of this question.

2. Book for only one or two nights in the beginning so if they are not so GF you can move on.
3. Learn how to palm a tip.
Yes, I sometime get nervous when see such rules. I think it's partly to give the hotel some leeway if there is a problem. For example, if there is a group of guys making a lot of noise at 1 am while drinking Red Horse they can then enforce the rule.

Walk in with the lady as if you own the hotel, and don't worry about anything else.
