With an apartment there is zero chance of any problems bringing a girl over and an apartment is much cheaper in the long run than a hotel. On the plus side for staying at a hotel, unless you speak Russian, they can always call a taxi for you which in the long run is much cheaper than flagging one down on the street. As for cheap apartments in Minsk, they are not easy to find for foreigners. Even if you do find one they must be willing to help you get a visa unless you go through a tourist agency. Any cheap apartments I was offered by my friends were outside of the city center, not very nice and even then they were not cheap. In Minsk it is better to be in the center unless you are fluent in Russian or know Minsk very well. Remember, the farther you are away from the center the more you must rely on public transportation (which is cheap and efficient in Minsk) and taxi's which are almost always looking to take advantage. However, as money is not much of an issue with me when traveling, I admit I did not search considerably for cheaper options in Minsk.

Just wanted to give a heads up that a diplomatic war between Sweden and Belarus has escallated into that Belarus will close down its embassy in Stockholm Sweden, and Sweden will close its Embassy in Minsk.
Both at end of August as it seems now. Likely EU will take action and the conflict might deepen. More embassies might be affected. It started after Belarus kicked out the Swedish embassador, and Sweden responded with refusing the new Belarussian embassador to work in Sweden, and also kicking out two other embassy staff. Next step Belarus withdraw the rights of the Swedish embassy in Minsk and expelled the staff and told them to pack and go home by end of August.
Its also probably connected to the teddy bear fiasco for the Belarus Government and Batka aka Lukasjenka.
So, it will be trickier for us Scandinavians in the future to get visas and stuff. Shite! And who knows where this leads.

General impression on Minsk.
Forget everything which you read and hear in the Internet. Minsk is a normal city just like any other city. No secret service, no other dangerous things for you as a normal tourist. Even walking at night is safe and no problem at all. On the other hand, Minsk is an extremely boring city. There is no much to do and not really touristic. English, by the way, was no issue so far. There is always somebody who can help you. People are genererally open and helpful when you ask them for directions and advice.

Why are you using the girls at Yubileiny Hotel? In fact, you need not use hookers at all in Minsk. What is more, 200-per hour is ludacris. The other night I went to Royal Club Madison. This was even worse. Prices doubled from the Westworld prices. Music was so loud that a discussion was impossible and also there, hardly any English speaking girls. And I realized, not only me was not successful, also other foreigners (mongers?) failed.

Thanks again!No, nothing in Minsk has changed. I have been there twice in the past year. Look Minsk is not Kiev: you have to work a lot harder and be more patient in meeting girls. Belarussian girls are much more reserved than their Ukrainian counterparts.
University is back in session and there should be plenty of girls around. I don't speak Russian either and, yes, it has been a problem for me at times, too. Dozari is a great club to bring a girl you want to impress but not to meet a girl, especially if you do not speak Russian. Try the internet and start with mamba. Do not message girls in English, use a translator and message them in Russian. Even so there is an etiquette on getting the girls on their to consider meeting you, however I am not going to spoon feed you; you should have been doing this before you left for Minsk. Minsk is the kind of city you have to do some serious homework before you visit, in my opinion, but it is very rewarding.
As for West World Club, read what Jojosun has written in the past on that subject. He is much more of an expert in that field then I am.

I know that Russians are now also entitled to buy real estate in Belarus but I am not quite sure if this is possible for western foreigners. According to local people who are familial with real estate business, foreigners are still not completely allowed to buy a flat or a house. In any case, when investing in FSU countries it is crucial to have a 100% trustworthy local partner who takes care of the contacts, language and legal issues. Otherwise there is a big risk that the money is gone forever.

It's pocket money. Minsk seems to be the last place in EE where real estate prices are low, it would be interesting to dig further about the possibility for foreigners to buy a flat.

It seems humans never learn the lesson: in Vilnius real estate prices have dropped 40% since the peak at the end of 2007; In Riga,"just" 60% even if a residence permit is offered to purchasers of real estate with a price tag above the €150k mark. Russians can purchase freely both in LT and in LV. Why will Minsk be different? Another bubble being started?
2. Girls.
Have not been in Minsk for 2 years already; planning to travel in 2 weeks for 3-4 days (I actually live in Vilnius) ; please confirm the following:
- Next: pro and semi pro girls; you hit 100% sure if you have the cash, two arms and two legs and shower regularly;
- Dozari: to see and be seen; the typical Russian club where the local upper class flashes cash; hard to get laid;

Could you explain to us what will generate this Minsk bubble of yours?While I certainly can not claim to be an expert on real estate in Belarus, nor can I confidently interpret the meaning of Prosal's statements, I think I can offer a somewhat lucid opinion of his words based on my experiences in Minsk coupled with a variety of people I know in Belarus. 'Pre-bubble' might mean before the fall of Lukashenko's government, which is struggling mightily at the moment, I might add. It is risky business for any foriegner to purchase property in Belarus and for that reason it is considerably inexpensive. Once the Lukashenko government falls, which I have no doubt it will, and a stable, democratic government is elected, the prices of real estate in Belarus will inevitably rise. So, while it is a considerable risk to invest on the whim of Lukashenko's 'White Russia', ten to twenty years from now it may turn a tidy profit. The rest is to fate.

Just for the record, I effectively have a fur-LINED cashemire coat for the cold. Maybe you prefer padded jackets (or it's more in your financial means?) , I see no problems with that, we are all different. I returned from Minsk 3 days ago after visiting my only GF. It sounds strange because I used to have 3 to 4 GF's constantly for 5 to 6 years in Belarus that I rotated. They say they have long term lets for $350 a month in Minsk, however I don't know if they would consider 1 month as long term or if you would need to commit to renting it for six months / a year. Out of interest how much are people on this forum paying for apartment rental in Minsk on average? Most agencies catering to foreigners are usually advertising their lets by the night and charging about $60. That would mean (without bargaining) you'd be paying about $1800 per month which I'm presuming nobody is foolish enough to do. Just returned from a weekend trip from Minsk. It's still blanketed with snow breaking out with +3 temperatures during the day. City roads / sidewalks are mainly clean of snow. So the mood is big grey, people are tired from the long winter. New (?) club called Bar 13 was really happening, elite crowd. However, Belarusian girls are reserved and normally quite conservative compared to their Ukrainian counterparts, for example, so it might be difficult to find 'something special'. I've recently received a surprising number of PM's not only concerning mongering in Minsk but more specifically Club Dozari and the prospect of meeting women there. Although I have written about my experiences at Dozari in the past, I will reiterate them here.
Dozari is arguably the top and most exclusive club in all of Belarus and adheres to a dress code (women must be wearing heels, for example). A drink will easily set you back 10-15 USD while admission into the club on a Friday or Saturday night is about 25-30 USD, depending on what DJ is performing. The benefit of this is there are no drunken young men looking to fight each other at every opportunity. While the club is usually full of beautiful women, in my opinion, unless you have a wonderful knowledge of the Russian language, it's not a great location for our hobby as the women, unsurprisingly to anyone who has been to Belarus, speak very little English and are usually more financially well off than the average Belarusian woman. That said, I'm reminded what a plain-spoken woman in Minsk once told me: 'in every club in Minsk there's a girl willing to have sex for money'.
In my experience, it's better to bring a local woman to Dozari you want to impress and are sponsoring. I've met few women who dislike Dozari and most are usually thrilled to go. I'm American I haven't really traveled any in eastern europe and I don't speak any other language but english and a little bit of turkish I'm 23 and will be going alone so do you guys think I will have any trouble along the way? And most importantly of them all where's a good place to cruise around in minsk to pick up some babes now I ain't to big into the club scene so are there other ways to pick up some honeys and how do locals feel about getting into cars with strangers it not like I'm going to be driving around offering candy to these mamas hard cold cash will be in my pocket and hopfully I can share it with some cutie pies. You can not pick girls up on the street, you are very, very naive if you think they will do this. If I were you I. And then you obvious do not speak any Russian. I will forget Belarus. I do not think you will have any luck there. Belarus is very fun, but the girls there are much more conservative and harder to impress with material things than in Ukraine. The girls in Belarus are actually a little conservative and will often expect to be taken out 2-3 times before they give you sex and kisses. If you only have a week, and you do not know the culture, go to Ukraine instead. I enjoyed both Kiev, Dnepr and Yalta. It will be easier for you. You could cruise by the beaches in Yalta.
The roads though in Belarus are fine. It is not a third world country. But please do your reseach. Not just here, read a Lonely Planet book or something.

Danish Traveler.Well said! As someone who has spent a fair amount of time in Belarus, I couldn't agree more. Minsk is not like Kiev and Belarusian women are not like Ukrainian women. They are much more reserved and careful about how they appear in pubic. Meaning, there are certainly plenty of Belarusian girls looking for a man to buy them nice gifts and take them out in exchange for sex, but you won't be able to find them on the street, like in Kiev or the cities Danish Traveler mentioned. In fact, rarely you will find a woman on the internet (I mean a woman worth your time) that will out right agree to money for sex straight up. She has to feel more respected, even though in the end its all the same. Like Danish Traveler said, if you only have one week and have never been to Minsk then go to Kiev instead. Minsk, although work the time and effort, requires more time, experience and patience.

If you only have a week and feel like going to Minsk, do it. I am sure you will find your way if you really pay attention to things (basically you can hit the sack every night if you go to Next and have some cash).
The car business is another thing. The car you mentioned will not impress anyone in central Minsk, mainly because many local guys drive much better cars. The same applies to Vilnius or Riga. There are more Bentley in Vilnius than in Stockholm, for example. Post-soviet dudes love their wheels and all their incomes go into that currently. And in Europe, in general, people do not "cruise" unless you are a peasant. Focus on your attire much more and use the car as pure transport (if needed).

Hi, I'm Lithuanian from Vilnius, so Minsk is located just 180 km from my town. Used to go there very often, but now haven't been to Minsk for one year, but doing my visa and going to go there for amazing weekends again. Ussualy going by train to avoid sometimes long queues on the border, it's very comfortable. Oschkosch. I've never lived in a hotel there that's why I don't kwow anything about that, and I would never do that. As my Belarusian friends told me it's much more expensive and everywhere they need a passport (to use internet in a cafe, to buy local sim card) , so I don't even know I I would be able to bring a local girl with me. I think it's much better and cheaper to rent an apartment in the center. There are plenty of them, starting from 50& for two bedrooms decent one, for 80-100$ you would get luxury apartment in best places with jakuzzi and everything you need, and you can do what you, bring as many girls as you want, any time, no passports, or smth. I speak fluent in Russian and think it's important to know some of this language, because not many girls speak English, they don't have many international companies, it's not that popular there, so sometimes you might have a problem have conversation, that's what I've heard from my forein friend, but I might be wrong, because I speak Russian ther and don't care about other languages. Girls are really nice and good looking, for me they are much better than here in Vilnius. Here they become snobby as in Europe with high requirements, in Minsk people are much more simple. What I can tell you is that the "sugar candy" blahblahblah does not work with Russians and Ukrainians and even less if they have money. They go to Minsk to gamble and have a good time and that includes more or less drinking and loads of nice company. I have been offered girls by Ukrainians in a couple of clubs in BY. As simple as that: pick the one you like, we will fix it. Language is key, first of all. Those guys seem to "know" how to talk to "their" women because they speak Russian and most foreigners cannot go further than "devushka babushka Zara McDonalds" (that's me for example.). That is the first thing. The second thing is that men in Eastern Europe have a very brat-like and pretentious attitude that would embarrass plenty of men in Western Europe. But many Eastern European women are used to that (they are also quite pretentious and very annoying with photo-sessions, posing in front of expensive cars or shops, pictures of all kinds in FB, etc) and actually is what they tend to respect, while the average foreigner behaves like a sucker in their opinion (and gets treated like one). It is like Russian comedies or movies on TV. Only Russians, Belarusians and Ukrainians like those abominations because they are brought up into that stuff. That attitude leads to success. I have seen Lithuanians in Minsk playing oligarch and it works. And I promise finding an oligarch in Lithuania is not an easy job.
I do not think that ALL women are for sale in Minsk but I am sure that in some clubs and bars at least 50% of them are. And we are talking dinner and / or drinks and a ride home. That you live in a tent, love to chase romantic nymphs and ride the night with 20 euro in your pocket? I am sure you need at least 6 months to get laid in Minsk. That you go there to party like crazy, staying at a nice central apartment or hotel, with the wallet full of dollars even if you do not spend them like water but letting them understand that you could become a regular visitor? I am sure that you can get some.

Got a trip lined up end of Sept early Oct to include Poland as well. I don't like to do cities during hot summer months.

I've been to Dozari, a club in Minsk, about 4 or 5 times. The majority of the times I went there was with this sexy university student I was sponsoring so I never did any serious mongering. You have little bit right in Ukraine is much easier to find some WG but in Minsk you should find some pleasure too. From my experience is much easier to find some girl when you speak russian. So if in your case no problem then you shouldn't have any problem to hook up some girl in right place.
As I'm currently not looking for fun because I already find girl which I'm live when I'm in Minsk I cannot help you more with what clubs are on top of hunting.
But some of my insights:
1/ Restaurant Gosti. Very good restaurant with live music and lots of girls coming with friends (not so much men).

2/ Club Dozari / Mojito. This two clubs are in the same place Mojito is smaller and working each days Dozarie much bigger and they opening in some of days. In this club you can much easier could find some WG but regular girls too it all depends from your skills and luck.
3/ Club dico Next. Its discotek when definitely you can find WG been there only once but I saw many WG.
4/ Shtiritz Club. Similar to Dozari a lots of girls coming but in my opinion lots of them looking for guys which can be they Sugar Dady type of friendship but in very expensive way.

I was in Minsk recently, just before new visa free travel. I didn't have any problems getting visa anyway. I asked one Mamba girl for her contacts and simply used those in my application. I've done Minsk many times and I have no Russian or any EE language and it didn't stop me from enjoying myself there and in many Towns and Cities all over Eastern and Central Europe.

I have just returned from Minsk having spent the perfect weekend with the truly perfect lady. She may be in her 30's but she is drop dead gorgeous (she was a former Miss Belarus finalist) and the sweetest person I have ever met. I will never discuss details but suffice as to say I have fallen in love.
What follows is not really a Monger's tale but as there is such a dearth of information on this thread I shall nevertheless share what information I gleaned whilst being happily married in Minsk.
First off you do not need a visa if you fly to Minsk and are only staying for 5 days. You do need insurance but it cost $4 and can be bought on arrival. You do need to say where you're staying on your immigration card so just book a decent hotel in advance it's really not that expensive.
Second Minsk has to be the safest capital in Europe. I lost my phone on arrival and on reporting the fact to my hotel reception they immediately said: "don't worry, no one would steal from the airport" (there are upsides to the old CCCP) and sure enough they made a call and my phone was ready for collection when I departed.
Thirdly Minsk is the cleanest and quietest city I've ever been to. No (I mean no) rubbish, few policeman and in fact few people. It is a laid back sleepy place where everyone seems to be incredibly polite and helpful. Granted my girlfriend is Belarusian but even so everybody seemed happy to help. The only exception are passport control who stare at your passport like some scene from the Great Escape.
Fourth there is an innocence about the place. You don't get frisked in nightclubs. There's no long queue outside with menacing bouncers. There are no ostentatious displays of wealth by the local oligarchs or indeed Turks. Most of the people you'll meet are young Belarusians on a night out.
The girls also seemed younger and just more innocent than in Kiev. None of the Devushkas you'll see in Ukraine.
Went to Rich Cat (30 rubles entrance and similar price for a cocktail) which was literally heaving with girls, very few of them looked like pros or semi pros but I'm sure some of them could have been bought a drink. The place is hugely entertaining: they even set light to the bar.
Also went to the nightclub at DoubleTree by Hilton. Spent $100 dollars on champagne in order to secure a table with a great view of the Minsk skyline. The place was heaving, again almost no security or face control. Seemed to be a slightly older crowd and largely made up of parties / tables of Belarusians and a few foreigners. Here I definitely got the look from a few girls despite having a former supermodel on my arm. The girls seemed in general to be a bit more sophisticated. They had a great live band if you're interested in that sort of thing.
Dined at the Grand Cafe which is truly chic and has prices to match but I did not get the impression there were any girls there. However if you've got the cash it has to be the ultimate seduction joint.
So do I prefer Minsk over Kiev? Well yes but I'm not sure how easy it is to get laid there if you haven't made plans in advance. I will of course return in fact I could see myself getting married there.

Confirmed. Entered today (USA Passport). When you enter the immigration room look to your immediate left & you'll see a big sign indicating "Insurance". Grand Cafe:
If you can afford the prices and are suitably booted and suited go to the Bar at the Grand Cafe after 9 pm on a Friday or Saturday. The selection is small but high quality and seems to be acting with the approval of management.
Also great place to eat if you're interested.
Rich Cat:
Currently popular nightclub although there's no where to actually dance. Got the come on stare from at least two really cute chicks despite being with my girlfriend. From what I could see lots of girls of varying quality who were definitely looking for business as well as some who were just on a good night out. The competition is almost entirely Turkish and didn't look that numerous.

I've no experience of the places you mention. The Club which is said to have the biggest percentage of P4P is Dozari but I've yet to make it there. I was told by an Italian that one of the clubs which is situated in one of the big hotels, I wish I could remember its name, is overrun by Turks and us to be avoided.
As for bars and just picking up girls in general Minsk is not Kiev. People don't make eye contact and are mostly pretty suspicious of foreigners. It's really a way of making a statement. The Turks do it routinely.
A cocktail is about £7.50 even in the priciest joints and admission to a nightclub is about the same. With wine dinner was about £37 per person in my hotel (the Hilton) which is about as expensive as it gets unless you go to the Grand Cafe which is really swanky. I don't cut corners on these trips but if you wanted to I'm sure you could eat and drink pretty cheap. I had a lovely quiche fresh orange juice and a coffee in the cafe next to my hotel for just £3.70.

I have read the reports here, I am surprised about the local price rates of women because it is as expensive as in west Europe. Then, I have looked at hotel rates and apartment rates.
