If you were single then I would say go for it only do not commit a lot of money I. E. * One last comment (and now speaks my black lawyer heart): how will you manage your divorce when you are frolicking around in Thailand? Unless your wife is a saint and her family are all angels (not of the avenging type), her lawyer will have a field day in cleaning you out and leave you probably with far less than you hoped (or even feared) for. Changing to a life in Thailand is challenging and even more so if you are only "half the man" you used to be.
Of course I do not know you or your actual situation, so nothing I wrote may apply to you. Fine with me, it is your life and your decision.
P. S. Some guys are maintaining multiple wives. This is not a great thing to do to them if you don't have adequate time and money to support them all properly, assuming they want some support. That $1000 in NYC in fact will not go very far, yet in Bangkok he will be overloaded with p4 p opportunities especially once he has developed some expertise in Bangkok, including access to a very large semi pro market, as there are literally 1000's of girls at any given point in time in Bangkok either undecided, just entering the business, dabbling in the business, or working the semi pro FL markets. I don't see that market in NYC. Bangkok which they consider an amazing Megalopolis of epic proportions draws them in from all over Thailand, and some of these girls can be quite attractive in a real world non P4P sense. If you are a gentlemen with these girls, and treat them as a non pros despite slipping them money, generally they will respond in kind. Sometimes it can be like you're in a dream when you're fortunate enough to run into some of the fresher less jaded girls, somethinggenerally next to impossible in the west.
For guys who only go to Bangkok once in awhile, NYC may not be that much different. But for high frequency Bangkok visitors, Bangkok is a different world.

With respect to girls working in the west, or anywhere I imagine, it's YMMV. There are girls in NY for $200-$240 for the hour where both the physical and conversational aspects have been (and hopefully continue to be upon return) GFE and quite satisfying. You have to know where to look and spend a good bit of coin to figure it out, especially if you're going it alone as I have. But once you put together a decent rotation of providers, it's worth the journey.
