Thermae to Asoke Sukhimvit scene this evening. Thermae closed with about 20-30 girls milling in front. Did not look like the best of the crop, even though I like a girl dressed in black. I hear that many Thais will be wearing black for an entire year. However its hard to predict stuff with any great certainty.
DJs may as well go on a holiday. Mostly I hate DJs anyway. Too loud. Too much stuffing around with songs. Too much noise and rubbish pretending to be music.

Went to Nana Hotel and many freelancers outside. Also outside Sukumvhit road.
If other options are closed, you can always look for freelancers instead.

Everything I've read from any government official during the moaning period (30 days) is business as usual but. Do it behind close doors! These street bars with music wouldn't be behind close door.
Strolling through and around the Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy, Soi 24/1 and Soi 22 areas last night, Tuesday night, between 8 pm and 10 pm, with exceptions so rare I cannot even remember what they were, I saw virtually all go-go bars, outside beer bars, massage shops, BJ bars and the like open and operating as usual with the only difference being the music volume was mercifully turned down low enough to be heard while chatting and negotiating a ST or LT with a lady and there was no onstage nudity in bars that specialize in it like Crazy House. But their girls were clad in very sexy short black negligee nighties.
BTW, it seemed to me there were much better looking girls on stage and mingling among the (fewer than usual) customers at Crazy House than I have seen in a few weeks or months. Maybe it was because some of those girls look better in negligees and nighties than fully nude. But I also saw a lot of new faces on their stage. The girls sitting outside Kasalong Bar and L0lita's were wearing black or dark street clothes instead of their usual cute schoolgirl uniforms.
I would NOT recommend a monger cancel his planned trip to Bangkok right now, this very day. As of this writing, I see absolutely no reason to wait if what you are hoping to find is a ton of hot, young, eager P4 P girls plying their trade in the bars, on the street, all the usual places around town (but I did not go to Patpong or the Saphan Khwai areas last night, so I can not speak from first hand observation on those areas).
If anything, it appears to me that the girls are more eager and ready than ever to get your business and earn their money. I would say this particular time, right now, is very much a major Buyer's Market around here, guys. Unless there is an unexpected and dramatic change in the mood of the authorities on the ground about it (always possible, I suppose), if you have a trip planned and are now considering cancelling it; DON'T cancel it. And if you already cancelled a planned trip for right about now, hate to say it but I think you made a big mistake.

There were police patrols all along suk between soi 3 to 19 and during my recent visit I even saw a notice put up by the police between soi 11-13 asking people about their opinion regarding this clean up drive.

I was out last night too. I din't go to Nana bust stayed between Soi 11 and 15.
Thermae was open, descent selection, but closed at 12. Oskars as well. I was in Levels and they closed a little before 1 Am. One of the Farang managers made an announcement in the middle of a song that we had to leave.
After that the cops went around closing all bars and restaurants on Soi 11, including the German Beer Garden on Soi 11 (not the one on Soi 7) where many people from Levels ended up at.
I was meeting a girl I met on the internet for a date and she was running late nd all these places kept closing before we could meet. The cops came in just as we were sitign down to order at Beer Garden and they would not serve us after that. We finally met and took a taxi up to Soi 22 but everything was closed there as well.
We ended up at Margarita station on Sukhumvit (Soi 13? It was the only place we could find that was open. We left pretty late almost 5 AM. But it was pretty dead in there and this is perhaps why the cops let it be.
So things have not quite gotten back to normal. Still a testy period. Btu I think it will pass in a week or two at the most.
Bar's in Nana and Cowboy closed yesterday sharp at midnight. Insanity was open again, but closed at 1 am.
Was the other day in Narz, it closed at 2 am.
It's fun, everything is so damn concentrated on an couple hours. The girls in the various places much more eager to please, as they searching hard in the few hours they have to find a "soulmate" for the night. Saw way less girls starring bored at their phones as usual. They are all on their feet's and looming around to find someone.

My advice to all, is to move forward your evening to times not so late. In my case, my mongering evening has generally been between 8. 30 PM and 1 AM for years. Sometimes I would meet girls even before the bars opened. I have been known to hang around later at Cart Bars with good music and fresh air.
Then again I don't like discos much due to noise and bad sound quality in some, lack of proper music rather than thumping and weird screeches, difficulty to converse, smoke or foul air in some places. Too old to get it. LOL So obviously biased.

Yesterday, I made a quick call at Suzie Wong. It has re-opened and nothing really changed (similar girls as usual, I. E. Not the youngest or the skinniest, but a good mix of various types). Measures were taken. That is a fact. If surveyed, a person can agree or disagree, or in my case maybe unsure. Disagreeing does not seem to be a problem. Police merely carry out what they are told to do.
I can see it may have been an opportunity for partially handicapped people to make money. Many people might have forgotten that including me, since I pay no attention to the merchandise stalls at all, and am rarely in that place. We all know the prices will be too high generally, videos are bad quality, fake and low quality items that will disintegrate very quick, etc.
The street stalls have been a nuisance to me forcing me to walk on the road to get somewhere more quickly. Fortunately I don't need to walk along there too often.
I imagine the food carts in Soi 4 remain, is that right? I don't or didn't mind the late cart bars at all, causing me no problems.
Wiping out all these things may have a serious downside. Muggings and thievery by ladyboys (mostly) or motorcyclists on this strip may rise significantly, unless there is a very strong continuous police presence.

My recollection is ST at go gos cost around 1,500 baht, with LT being around 2,000 although I suppose it was possible to negotiate lower amounts. Bar fines were around 400 or 500 baht, although my recollection about this is not so clear. Given the official inflation rate in Thailand has averaged somewhere around 3 percent a year since then, perhaps a tad higher, it is probably unrealistic to expect the same prices in baht now, assuming the official inflation rates are not higher than the real inflation rates, which while possible would make little sense.
If one compounds the inflation rate over this period of time, ST would be around 2,200 baht and LT close to 3,000, assuming I am correct that around 13 years ago these cost 1,500 and 2,000 baht, respectively. So, 2,500 for ST is not so far off from what one might predict, although 4,000 or more for LT is. As to oilies, 1,500 for the girl's fee is around seventy percent of what the official inflation rate would have predicted.

More significant to me though is whether we get the same quality as before, and I agree the quality in both the go gos, and in the oilies is not what it used to be. But changes in the Thai diet (more junk food) as well as more economic opportunities have translated into fewer attractive girls in the P4 P scene. The increase in bad plastic surgery has also diminished the quality, depending on one's perspective. For me a bad boob job is a problem and these have increased; I don't care so much about noses as do some (or maybe one?) here.

I'm not even sure what these places are called, so I don't know how to search for reports, but I feel that there may be no reports on them. I believe they are located on or around Pracha Suk Alley and Sutthisan Winitchai road. But certainly south of Sutthisan and not north of it, on different roads as well. Sorry for being vague but I wonder about these places.

Meanwhile across town really sexy Indo FL's at CJ's ask 1,000,000 rp ($77) for ST and 2,000,00 ($153) rp for LT. So as you can see Jakarta is not cheap! I don't go to Jakarta to save money. 555. I usually spend more here in Jakarta on a nightly basis than I do in BKK. But on a comparative basis I do think that the Malioboro 2. 1 k dancers are really sexy and better looking than 90% to 95% of the BKK Go Go dancers and that these Indo dancers have damn good attitudes. The reason I suppose is that they haven't been spoiled, YET.
Of course one can always choose to go frugal in Jakarta too and sometimes be rewarded with finding a diamond sweetie in the rough. For example, Classic Hotel harem girls are 250,000 rp ($19) ST. However, I'm not entirely sure it exists, except maybe at the higher-end Thai-oriented venues (in the ballpark of 10 k baht). Unfortunately, that's way too much money to simply take a chance in the name of research, so I'm not familiar with that scene.
From what I observed, there aren't any hidden gems in the Thai-oriented scene (in terms of venues, impossible to say about individuals).
You might get an occasional great looking girl (surely better average than Nana), but it would be exceedingly hard to get service anywhere near the standard of PSE oilies which a discerning Farang monger expects, especially at higher price points. Either that, or you can get a bottom-end price (400-800 baht) for a bottom-end streetwalker / brothel service. Moreover, there aren't that many Thai-oriented places which would deny service to a polite, low-key Farang who speaks a bit of Thai, it's just that they generally don't provide the setup / service that we find comfortable and satisfactory.
As an aside, virtually all of the spots in the Thai scene I know (mostly at the lower end) are in rapid decline, probably a steeper decline than those in the Farang scene.

1) $19 for ST at Classic up to $161 for ST at Malioboro in Jakarta.
2) $29 for ST with a SW on Soi 4 up to $165 for an "M" category girl at the Lord up to the $229 (the stratosphere) just to make the acquaintance of a G-Club gal in BKK.
Think of the high end as almost the same prices as Tokyo or Macau. That said, I think you can still find some nice BKK girls in the 2000bt to 3000bt range. On my next trip I plan to work the social media sites like Badoo and Thai Friendly and see what happens.

Try the soi over next with bada bing, black pagoda and those bars. I found it far more interesting and without the experience you had. The drink push didn't seem much more than any other gogo. Bada bing was a bit more aggressive but not as bad as you describe. Be warned though the coyote dancing crew wanted crazy money. Something like 8 k for ST, on a slow week night, I almost laughed out loud.
Hit the ground about 10. Just can't seem to get my ass in gear any sooner. Browsed some to get lay of the land. The night market stalls were pretty good too.

The next bar I can't remember. Maybe kings castle II or the one just passed it. Won't go into much detail but it was pretty much more of the same as the last place. One worrisome lady did tell me the rates were 600 BF and 2500 for her. She said the girls on stage were 1800 BF and 3000 for the girl. This was confirmed by a passing waitress tho she crossed out 2500 and put 3000. No idea why the difference in bar fine amount. One I did like came 5 minutes before closing. I'm landing Saturday night at 11:00 PM and through the years have honed my post landing actions so I can get out of the airport, checked-into the hotel, cleaned up, and into one of my favorite bars on Soi Cowboy by 12:30 or at the latest 1:00 AM. It is what it is, but there is a wide dichotomy in price and quality everywhere in Asia. For example:
1) $19 for ST at Classic up to $161 for ST at Malioboro in Jakarta.
2) $29 for ST with a SW on Soi 4 up to $165 for an "M" category girl at the Lord up to the $229 (the stratosphere) just to make the acquaintance of a G-Club gal in BKK.
Think of the high end as almost the same prices as Tokyo or Macau. That said, I think you can still find some nice BKK girls in the 2000bt to 3000bt range. I live in South Florida. If Vancouver or Seattle were not so far out of the way for me, I would consider a layover in one of those two cities. I just paid $725 for a IAH / BKK flight on EVA Airlines via Taipei. 26 hours and very minor fees for cancellation or changes (unlike Korean Air).

I definitely come down on the "Good thing" side of the street stall removal debate. More passing lanes are good. And, on a final note on that matter, hey, tall, grey haired falang at the Asoke BTS! Did you REALLY think it was a good idea to stop dead center at the top of the escalator to reply to a text?
Yeah last time I was at Shark, one of the bar girls tried to sit down next to me while I was with the girl I normally bar fine. She just calmly but surely walked up to our bench, and slid down and started to talk a bit. Proceeded to give the lost puppy eyes so I knew the LD request was coming. I declined. She politely left as we both understood the score: She is at least trying to make some money tonight, and I am not going to be a source of it. She was also rater unattractive too. There may have also been an outside girl who tried to follow me in as well and I immediately told her no (as polite as possible, but still firm). It's important to shut that down quickly.
At any bar here, you have to be upfront with the women very quickly. Tell them no soon, in words or better in body language, so they don't linger around. Imagine going on a fishing trip where there are very few fish at all in the entire day. Shark was a favorite of mine for a while and had many repeat girlfriends from there over the years. Selection was always solid if not tops, but service was always consistent and no BS in the bar. I don't know why the place doesn't attract much attention. Avoid those outside girls but inside no coyotes, no LB, drinks are strong and girls are solid.

It's my first time in Bangkok and I wanted to contribute on here and give a newbie's perspective on Thermae. I have read some mixed reviews on the place, but as not much of a drinker or big on partying, I like the simplicity of the set-up with no lady drinks or bar fines needed. It's efficient and straight to the point, but it does have some downsides as far as judging chemistry goes since it's about a minute of small talk before they ask you to take them out. I am in my late 20's, decent shape and Asian American and figured I should do OK there. I would say I got looks and smiles from 80% of the girls there. Getting one to go with me wasn't difficult, but I think getting good service is another matter. Another thing is the lighting inside is very poor and some of these girls are very good at makeup. I ended up doing one ST for 2500 and another LT for 5000. These seem to be the going rates as I was quoted them multiple times.
The LT girl I went with looked like a very solid 8 or 8.5 with makeup and more like a 6 when I saw photos on her phone of her without. We ended up chatting for a long time and from what she told me, many of the girls have had bad experiences with farangs, Indians and Arabs from not getting paid to poor treatment. She also said they just weren't her type and already makes good money, so she can pick and choose who she wants to go with. I was pretty exhausted, so it wasn't the biggest deal but was disappointed to not be offered a 2nd shot for LT before she left in the morning. I guess it was a rookie mistake to not specify how many shots during negotiation. Other than that, she was really nice and lots of fun.
The ST girl was largely forgettable. It was also the classic case of never rushing your choice in there and jumping at the first decent option. I pretty much instantly regretted it before even getting back to the hotel. The service was also not the greatest as she wanted to get it done as quick as possible to get back for another customer.
With a bit of experience under my belt now, I think I should be able to navigate it better when I go back. This seems like it should be a good spot for me specifically. I don't think it is ideal for foreigners as Asians just seem to be the preference for most girls there.

I always do this because they always under pour and after my first request to fill it the following shots are filled to the top. You only have to ask once per visit.
There are many tequila brands which advertise their product to be enjoyed on the rocks or neat without the salt.
I have visited many wonderful bars in Mexico which presented tequila as if it were a fine scotch. Each time, it was amazing.
Though, I highly doubt you'll find those nuanced beverages in a Thai bar.

Mostly they give up quickly unless very drunk girls can be a problem.

Had a meet-up with a WeChat girl at Asoke Place for short time, so after did a quick stroll to Soi Cowboy. Sidewalk bars (not Cart Bars) back in action in front of the soi. SC still dark without neon lights, but much more buzz. Even some coyotes back, but not on the street and more conservatively dressed. Bars pretty much back in action with girls dancing in bikinis of varying size. I thought the bikinis at Shark and Baccara looking most revealing, but a bikini is a bikini. Shark looked full of whiteys for a change. For fans of Crazy House, they got a treat for Halloween as it has reopened. The Russian operation that was at Raja forever was shut down. I think there was a threat. So I would be surprised if it was the same group and if they still had 20 girls working. Without attending The Chrome Bar recently (Dr. BJ Nuru), I heard a rumour that one of the two shop fronts joined together was closed down, perhaps due to a rival big business (not Aey and partner) wanting to take over that side of the Soi for other development purposes. I believe Chrome bar cannot be forced out completely right now due to contract still running with owner of the land. Just stories as I have not attended there. I can't say these are hard facts. Although I have met Aey a few times many years ago, and even "Annie" herself, I am not social with anyone that ran these shops, so don't know much. Even "Dr. BJ" would not know me at all. So its just grapevine stuff.
Perhaps Aey & partner will open other establishments in other locations in the future.
I have no clue who are the current shareholders of Woodbar (Dr. BJ bar) at all, and of course I don't really care. There are no girls drawing me to these shops at present. In the end, its only specific girls that ever matters to me, and to a slight extent the price and quality of rooms.

Most of the the entertainment areas are toning their activities down, so don't really expect things to get back to normal until next year. You might want to try the massage shops like Tulip, Snow White or Mango (unless you really do want to get a massage) for 2-3 pops and maybe a passable oil massage thrown in for a 2 hour session.
Next to nataree was a new place. I went in and papa san promised a regular soapy. He lied. In the dirty nasty dingy room. No rubber bed. Just a bath and regular bed. Felt so uncomfortable. And girl was 8 outside, but nude just a 6.
Do you remember the name of the place? Was it Merci? I'm planning to check that place out this week because I've read a good report. What was wrong with the girl's body?

Certainly compared to Jakarta. I came in around 22:00 on most nights. At 12:30 All closed. They blame iT on new army regime. Weird because the rest of Bangkok is still alive and kicking while the rld areas dies down. Whats weird no nudity of any kind. I have looked in NEP and Soi Cowboy. Than its so weird. Seeing All those Guy's ogling these girls basically standing around in clothes or at best bikini or lingerie. Weird in sad way. No fun at all. Certainly compared with Jakarta.Perhaps you may not have heard of this "Death of the King of Thailand" news nor bothered to read the past month of reports on the wet blanket it puts on the scene due to military government restrictions. If you had, you would have known that nude dancing is off and venues are closing at midnight.
Will be interesting to see what happens once the official 1-month mourning period ends this week. Not expecting much change though. Most of Thailand still in an utterly depressed and sad funk. I just came back from a trip to Jakarta and completely agree that it is better there. Enjoy Bangkok, AsianRain.
I am not in Bangkok at the moment but a friend who is living there dropped me a note to say that Bangkok Beat is closing its doors for good this Monday evening. This was also confirmed by the latest Stickman Sunday edition. Apparently, it's being replaced by a pool bar. Since I have no interest in playing pool, it has lost me as a customer when I return. It always appeared to draw a good and ebullient crowd so wondering what happened?
Regular readers may remember that I frequented Bangkok Beat during the last few years in the winter months and had much success there though one had to be patient to sift the wheat from the chaff. I pulled several gems from there over the course of the winter (s), which I documented in numerous reports here. Nevertheless, the only other similar venues I am familiar with in
this area was a Hillary bar on Soi 4 that offered live music accompanied by an excessive amount of waitresses eager to push drinks and Titianium Bar on Soi 22, but here one had to deal with the pesky bar hostesses and expensive drink prices. The latter kept most FL's away from this venue.
Does anyone know any other clubs in this area offering live rock music or similar club style?
Recently, it appears that Thermae is undergoing a sort of revival but can't say I enjoyed the ambience on a few visits I made last winter.
I'm an anal guy. Love those nasty anal gapes. I haven't been to Thailand yet, but is it a good place to go looking for anal? Any recommendations of clubs with good anal girls or even girl contacts? Any tips for approaching the subject?
