Nice report ET. You've spoken highly of the Plaza these past few days so I am going to give it another hard look when I am back there in May. The principle being a "How much you give me?" question from a P4 P girl is begging for a "That depends. For what?" response from the customer. And our brief exchange in the bar would have been essentially the same as it was in my room. But she didn't talk money in the bar.
Good luck on your next visit. For my REAL GFE needs, Nana Plaza generally works better for me than Soi Cowboy with no meaningful (to me) compromise on other factors like looks.

I am not consistent with my tipping.The rare times I have tipped a mamasan or bought one a drink has been because I either genuinely appreciated where she led me in terms of bringing a girl to me the previous time or I wanted to chat with her (buying her a LD) or, as you mentioned, when the girl seemed to really want me to. And in the latter case, I don't think I ever did it other than with a girl I'd been with before. I don't usually find most girls behaving like they give a damn whether I buy the insistent mamasan a drink or give her a tip. Most of the time they just sit there with a vague smile on their face and leave it up to me to say yes or no. And I say no except for the 2-3 exceptions I mentioned.
On tipping in Thailand in general; for P4 P activities I sometimes tip for "taxi fare" at 100 baht or less, but not if I feel I already paid her generously and usually not unless she asks for it. Of course, if she asks for a tip after I have already paid her generously I will probably never take her again unless she really rocked my world.
I don't know if anyone considers an Extra Service "surcharge" to be a tip, but I am fine with adding anywhere from 500-1000 baht above the going rate, depending on how hot I am for the girl, as a leg opener for what I consider a REAL GFE. I am talking about the specific activity kind of REAL GFE you will not find listed on any Escort profile, MP menu, etc. I could give it as a tip afterwards if there was any chance that I could finish with or without coverage anyway. However, if it is a Western restaurant where the staff must and actually does know what the word "ketchup" means, what "scrambled eggs" are, the meaning of burger "no onions" and so on, I will tip about 10% or so. The reason being this establishment must hire a "skilled" staff who knows some English and is capable and interested in learning about menu items they might never have heard of before. They cannot just hire the next Thai person off the street. So, whoever gets that tip or shares it had to make an extra effort to make that happen.
Taxi drivers I will tip only if it is easier to round up to the next whole coin I've got in my pocket. Sometimes, when the girl I am with has struck up a conversation with the taxi driver and, lo and behold, it turns out they are long lost cousins from the same Northern province (haha), she will want me to tip the guy another 20 baht note or something. I don't like it, but will do it rather than have a confrontation about it in the back seat of a taxi.

But assuming the server does get to keep it when you hand it to them, it is interesting to me that, for the most part, servers in Thailand venues where tipping is commonly done don't seem to care whether you leave it in the tray/book or hand it to them personally. I mean, they might seem pleased that you acknowledged them personally or made the effort, but don't seem to send any signals for a preference one way or the other over how or if you leave a tip.
They also don't seem to care if another server who hasn't even looked your way all night is the one who collects the bill and, therefore, MIGHT get a tip handed to them instead of the one who was circling back and forth with your drinks over the past 2 hours. So in those cases, either all tip money goes to the house or all tip money goes into a common kitty for all the servers to share. It is puzzling sometimes.

I very much doubt that many bars will open after midnight, it does not leave enough chance to make money. Crazy House will stay closed all Thursday night and reopen Friday night. That came from the CH boss who is probably reliable.

I think they were the Hillary Bars but might have meant all of those Soi 4 outside beer bars. I didn't pass by any of the Nana Plaza go-go bars so I didn't see any signs. No noticeable signs about it on Soi Cowboy bars tonight. I am back in my room now so I don't know if those Nana Plaza/Soi 4 beer bar signs were correct or not. King's Castle 1 is at a temporary location around the corner for the next 2 weeks while their original bar is under renovation. The temporary location is likely one of the best set ups I have seen in a gogo bar. I counted 60 girls at 10 pm. KC1 is a great place to have fun. Girls are young, fairly hands on, many are decent looking, but most importantly, they all have great attitudes at Kc1. Well, not for those who have the power to negotiate. It's all about leverage, control. True, the "walk-in" base price or what people might call "market" price is about 3000 baht now in Bangkok for decent looks, minimum. That's for first time customers, guys who can't negotiate, and most working girls already know they can get someone else for that price at least that night. Why lose money by saying yes to less right? Well, that's where NEGOTIATION comes in. If you can lead them to believe something that makes up for the X baht in value that they will have to take less that night, then they will say yes.
Things to get them to agree to lower.
- (when they already know that they can have someone else for 3000 baht that night): That you like them a lot and are interested in repeat business (need to point out that you will be there for awhile, at least a month). This helps lead them on into thinking that they can sucker you in as a sponsor too, so you'll perk their interest. Hookers are drawn to emotionally available customer like flies to shit.
-Are at your best behavior / charm. The more that they can empathize with you (and let's be honest, foreign hookers have almost no ability to empathize with their foreign customers due to cultural disparity for starters). For reference, I found a looker (3800 baht normally) that I liked. So I see her at her work, then she see's me for "free" at my condo a day or 2 later. These women are certainly willing to work for less, and I do think 1500-2000 baht in BKK and 1 k in Pattaya for sure are the real minimums. Have been to Mixx, Pattaya and it was quite disappointing, with a dead vibe. Haven't tried Mixx, Bkk but have not read many good reviews of the place either here or on other forums. Many complain about excessively loud music and less than friendly staff. However, YMMV. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

In many ways the P4 P scene in this town is a shrinking parof the overall tourist industry. And will probably be phased out gradually as Thai incomes rise over the next few decades and rhey have more disposable income.
The "sin city" rep is good for promotion. But like Vegas this place is likely to be neutered over the long term. So lets enjoy it while we can.
Insomnia / Ibar are popular with regulars in addition to the more hard core FLs.

My experience in BKK nightclubs is limited to Climaxx (now defunct), Insanity, Levels, Mixx and Oskar. I found the girls at all these venues to be noticeably older and less attractive than the girls in Ibar / Insomnia.

So what is wrong with the USA over 40's? I presume a very good percentage are fat, plenty are ugly to average, and there are not many models in this category looking to fuck us. Obviously the hotties can get guys of their own age or less.
I'm certainly not a hater of girls of non-Asian descent, but the quality of girls in the USA, at least from my neck of the woods, is deteriorating at a rapid pace. When I was younger, the mall girls were generally pretty cute. Now all I see are fat heifers manning the cashier registers. In two weeks I saw about as many cute girls as I do in BKK in 15 minutes. I used to visit the Thermae Coffee Lounge as it was known in the mid 1990's. It was bit like zoo then. "Coffee Lounge" is a bit over the top. LOL It was always referred to as Coffee Shop by my buddies. There was a Thermae Soapy above the coffee shop in 1991 and probably 1992, but probably was closed by the mid 90's when I think the Thermae moved to its current location. Originally was right near to the Miami Hotel.
The Thermae Soapy had a better selection of girls than the Grace for my tastes at the time. More slim girls. A lot of the customers were actually Thai and some westerners. I went to the Thermae Soapy New Year's eve party 1991/1992. A few regular customers were invited. LOL I was probably booking one girl a bit too often. Well, anywhere! Have some idea of the fare to your hotel / wherever and offer to pay it. Just FYI, I often stay on soi 11 to avoid the problems you will encounter. Good luck TTG.

And rice, particularly white rice, is like a shot of sugar into the bloodstream. The extra sugar from sugary drinks, etc. , undoubtedly doesn't help things, but I believe sugar and other simple carbohydrates have always been part of the Thai diet.
On the other hand, food from places like McDonalds, with such things as hamburger buns and French fries, are also like instant shots of sugar into the bloodstream, and the increase of consumption of such foods has also contributed to the increase in obesity.
Mini report. I'm on day 2 of my stay here, haven't been to bkk in 2 years and so many changes. My first stop yesterday was to Soto 7/1, I RTFF and saw that Dr. BJ is now call Wood, same set up, but Thievy stripped the old wall paper that told the history of Dr BJ so that kinda sucked. But the real sucking was done by LaLa, she did an awesome job DT and she threw in a few gag jobs (I don't care if she was faking). Damage was 1200 b.
Afterwards I went over to Thermae and was very disappointed. I went in around 10 pm, got a beer and sat towards the back side by the jukebox. I keep reading that if you're Asian (Japanese), I'm Chinese but they don't know I'm not a Japanese. You're almost guaranteed success if you're Japanese. I sat there for almost an hour like a fly on the wall and not one girl tried to come proposition me so I just left.

Asian or not, they sit at the sides and wait for the punters to talk with them. All you will get is smiles and nods 99% of the time. You need to approach first. The difficulties white guys have their are mostly over inflated pricing because the girls prefer the Japanese guys. I've never been outright refused. For you, I suggest spending your remaining days on Ratchada and your nights in Soi Cowboy, Nana, Mixx, and Insanity. It's a good mix of massage, go go girls, and freelancers. Mix it up a bit. BKK is far from boring unless you are on a strict budget.

They will charge 100-150 no metre. The normal price might be 70 Baht with the metre. If you can't afford that while you have a sweet young thing on your arm you picked up from the club, then I would think twice about clubbing. Head to a bar outside the area maybe like Mixx or how about just finding a freelancer to spend your days with. Don't get hung up on the taxi metre thing unless you are staying in Lat Phrao or Bangna or some place out of the area where they ask 300-500 Baht for a taxi ride that would cost normally 100 Baht.

I have had luck on Soi 3 with some massage girls very late at night as well. Took home a nice girl to my room for 2,500 Long time. Full on GFE like my regular girlfriend if that makes sense. Freelancers like to work the bars and cart bars. If you go to Soi 23, there are 2 cart bars at the top of the Soi. The girls migrated over from Soi 22 and they open around 11:00 PM. They are all young, under 23 and nice to party with. Head to Thonglor and you will find them in the clubs on Thonglor soi 10 but you can't be so obvious as their are many regular high so Thai girls there as well. There used to be a Bar Boss Pub or Bossy pub in the Petchaburi Road area with lots of FLs. Thai Friendly, Tinder, We Chat and Badoo are also great Apps to find the FLs. Just do a search nearby and you will find many in all the areas of Suk.
