I think we established by now that we're talking about the same place. All the mamasans treat you with exaggerated respect if you pay the price and tip a little. It was a relatively new passport though with only one entry and exit stamp to Thailand from my previous visit but nonetheless it is a genuine passport.

I am a proud Indian-American, but in Thailand I felt like I get judged for affordability for few $10 drinks. I was stopped while entering in Levels night club around 1 am with a justification that the club is full, but then a white security desk guy came running from the desk and told the Thai security guys who stopped me at the entrance that I am good to go because he knew me from the previous night. I never experienced this before so I obviously took it personally, I was speechless. I walked out of there even though they told me they were sorry. I walked to Havana Social at 1:30 am when they were about to close 2 am, I saw few Europeans at the entrance haggling at the entrance as it was 30 minutes remnant and they were not pleased to pay 400 bhat each. I spent the next 30 minutes there and picked up a cute 24 year old for the night.
While flying out, at the Bangkok airport customs, a white guy told me "you are not supposed to cut the line". I may have engulfed in my phone texting that I may have swayed from my intended line. But the prejudiced notion in the mind of that person to think it was intentional and that he need to remind me was interesting to say the least. Back in America, I would have never received prejudices like that.
I like Bangkok, I even got in touch with a real-estate agent and saw few properties, a Condo so I can spend a month or two a year there but I am contemplating now. I almost finalized a Condo in Ashton behind Terminal 21 but after this Levels incident I don't know if I can live in Bangkok proudly.

I was there yesterday, and when I entered my little cubicle, the pair in the next cubicle were going at it hard. Yep, I gave up Walking Street, Nana, and Soi Cowboy in last few trips to Pattaya and Bangkok. Found myself staying in areas like Thonburi, Silom, and Huai Kwang instead of near Terminal 21 Asoke. Now I avoid Sukhumvit entirely. Feels so scammish to me after all this years. I balk at girls demanding 2500-5000 now, even for top shelf GoGo types. Why because there are better deals to be had at the local venues. All I can say, is it is a whole new ball game when you are with the locals in their party places. Can't say the girls that work these places are receptive to all foreigners, but they are good with me. I am never looking back. Those who know what I am talking about just know. Mummm is the word. My pocket book and schlong has thanked me. Old age question if you find gems in a cave, do you let your buddies know?

For example, Captain mentioned in another thread that he recommends Boss Suites on Soi 4, a 4 star hotel. Seems like sticking close to NANA is the way to go? Any other hotel suggestions that are clean and comfortable that is also affordable?

For slight perspective, I am in my mid thirties and resigned from work this year. I am taking some time off and am traveling solo on a budget. It is hit and miss. If you don't speak Thai, it will be more miss than hit. Thai Friendly freelancers are better for you or find them in Thermal cafe. However, the prices won't be the same. If you want a huge selection of freelancers that speak enough English and aren't scared of foreigners for a decent price, Pattaya is better than Bangkok. I speak Thai and even I have had my share of bad experiences, but the good ones were really good.

Many, including myself, recommend a Charles Schwab account for international travel. Just go to any ATM to withdraw money (the random fees get refunded at the end of the month) and you use the card they give you. I've found that the rates are among the best when compared to most money changers, plus it's a lot easier. You don't need to carry around a huge wad of cash and there are usually ATMs close to wherever you stay. Airline ATMs have jacked up rates, just like the money changers so I would recommend only pulling out a small there and then finding an ATM wherever you are staying.

Overnight to Pattaya is recommended. But also give serious consideration to a trip to Ayutthiya. It is not far, just 80 km to the north of Bangkok. Suggest you find a guide that has a car, and offer her the opportunity to stay overnight with you at a hotel. Even if she needs a seperate room and does not want any intimate relations, it would be worthwhile. Ideally, find hotel that has free bicycles. It is a great area to just ride around, if bicycles are your thing.
Bangkok. Go visit Lumpini park, go do the floating market, eat spicy papaya salad, mango with sticky rice, explore the amazing shopping malls (Central World), get foot massage, and you get the idea!
If you do go to Pattaya, you might want to just get a private taxi. Taking the bus is also recommended (from Ekamai), but for your first trip a private car is best. There are a few good companies that have good reputation. Cost 1200 to 1500 baht plus tip. Book at least a few days in advance.
There is a seperate section for Bangkok hotels. You should ask your qquestion there, but I could suggest a few places. 1. Park Plaza Soi 18 - short walk to Sukhumvit, yet it's fairly quiet on this soi (don't bother buying their breakfast) 2. Jasmine City hotel, located on Soi 23 just off of Sukhumvit (almost next to Soi Cowboy).
You will enjoy every minute of your trip. Your itinerary is ideal.

But just make sure it's not a "currency conversion fee" which Schwab doesn't rebate. Usually the ATM will prompt you to accept or decline a currency conversion which you should always decline. It's just a random fee that does nothing to change the money you get back except add a fee for the bank to siphon some money. Those more versed in currency exchange can probably explain what it actually is, but the important part is to just decline and continue the conversion (it won't stop you from getting your money in baht). You get the refund at the end of the month so don't expect it right away.

Economy does not affect me as far as regular girls are concerned simply because I never pay them anything, neither then nor now.
The change for me is that girls that would be easy to chat up and get to bed 20 years ago, when I was still young, fit, and handsome (ok, not all that handsome to be honest), I'm now fighting an uphill battle to get.
Before I would just smile and say Hi, and they'd already be interested, if not necessarily bending over there and then while standing in line at the 7-11. We'd continue talking in pidgin english / thai, and except if she really had a BF, 9/10 times we'd exchange line info, and probably half of those times we'd end up meeting again for noodles, and most of those times, we'd end up in bed afterwards. It was so easy that unless a girl had a genuine reason for not going back to my place then, I'd not even bother to invite them out again to "seal the deal", even if they wanted me to.
If I do the same now to the same hot looking 20-25 year regular girl, I will usually not get anything more than a polite Hi back, and it will be an uphill battle to get her interested.

I've been to 42 countries. The first time I visited BKK I was shocked at the quantity of beautiful girls. Tokyo, Florence, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Phnom Peng* and HK don't come close.

A friend has his IRA with Chase and he tells me that his Chase card does the same thing, but I've never seen a financial statement to verify. There might be minimum deposits required to get this benefit.
Using the Fidelity card at Thai ATMs gives a very good exchange rate, better than the best cash exchange place that I've ever seen.

Well, yesterday was pretty bad. That is to say, it was not good.
After showering together and the girl being nice and friendly, she started to write some messages on her phone. Shortly after that she informed me I had to change girls, as I was too big, and then did the comparison between her forearm and my dick that thai girls so much like to to do to stroke our egos. Now, I'd be flattered if that was true, and this girl was no tiny girl either (around 160 cm), but I have never ever been rejected for being too big. Too smelly, too ugly, too devoid of charm, maybe? But too big? No. Ok, I tried to convince her to give it a go (she was pretty, and we were both there naked), but no, she did not want to.

I was in Bangkok and had some spare time.
So as I made a good experience with Bell some years back I was trying to see if we can meet again.

Ibis Styles there's a few & it's pretty stylish but be aware rooms are 3. 5* whereas the hotel itself almost looks like a 4 star. In terms of exterior, lobby, they always have a skybar, restaurant, gym. I've stayed in Silom & Ratchada branches but not aware of one really close to Nana.

Landed Bangkok in the AM but had a bit of work first. So headed out around 4. Of course not much going on then. Thought about going to a soapy but figured I'the kick around a bit first.
