Boss Suites Nana Hotel on Soi 4 is 4-star, only $28, large suites, nice, clean, quiet with nice, cool breeze from the big park. I think they still have free breakfast with eggs cooked to order. Woraburi is on the same alley, 3-star, only $20. Both are about the same with good Wi-Fi, pools and large lobbies open out to the alley, very relaxing. I stayed at various 4 and 5-star hotels on Soi 2, Soi 4 and others in this area, these 2 are nice, clean enough, quiet, not crowded, convenient, laid back and relaxing, staff is fun, friendly like family, very Thai.
Just walk out to soi 4 there are lots of girls day and night on the street and in Nana plaza bars, also lots of restaurants, bars, massages, street food stalls, 7-11 stores ect.

Let me tell you about my latest disappointment. Jungle Jim's, which sadly doesn't live up to its adventurous name in any positive sense. From the moment I walked into that cramped little "shotgun bar" (where you can literally see from the entrance straight through to the back wall), I should've known better.
The place has this seedy, half-hearted setup. The fare into the City can vary depending on traffic, time of day etc but I've never felt cheated or conned. The only issue has been, the driver will regularly ask you for money to pay the tolls, so it's advisable to have some small local currency available.
I find taxi on arrival a lot less hassle than trying to find a pre-arranged transfer service, that more often than not doesn't turn up. Also a taxi is probably going to be cheaper.
Once in BKK, the GRAB app for rideshare (like UBER) is the best and probably most widely used, also for going back to the airport. Hotels will organise taxi's too.

BKK is a huge airport and it isn't easy to find any particular person. I’ve never had a problem quickly getting a taxi at BKK.
If you are flying into DMK, that might be a different story. I’ve waited as long as 2 hours to get a taxi at DMK.

Bolt (Estonian) is growing rapidly and often cheaper. They also charge the drivers five percent less compared to Grab so I always use Bolt. You just book a car once you have collected your luggage. I generally head in coming up to closing time if I haven't clicked on TF etc, any time I've been in there is always 50-100 girls left and if you can't find enough t choose from to fit you tastes, then god help you. At midnight even, many who were picked up at 8 to 10 will be back for a 2nd round too.
My own experience is they don't necessarily drop their price around closing time, but they do realize their chances of getting picked from the crowd is diminishing, so they tend to be 'very appreciative' of being picked out.

As with Groatscrot, I haven't been in the Thermae for what seems like forever; maybe 30 years? 35 years? First time was in about 1987, in a period of time when I stayed in the Sukhumvit Wing of the Ambassador Hotel.
In those days, there was not a club scene as big and as diverse as now. Freelance venues were often discos and restaurants in many hotels. The Ambassador had a disco in the basement of the main building and a huge restaurant that was located on Sukhumvit. In the daytime, the restaurant had a great buffet that catered to a lot of office workers and Thai families on the weekends at lunch time. At night, the restaurant's table were occupied by dozens of nicely / politely dressed freelancers in small groups or alone; rotating musical groups and singers provided entertainment. Full dinner menu was available. It was known as the Bangkopi Lounge.
It was at the Bangkopi Lounge that I was invited to join some dudes at table. They were middle eastern types in town for biz. I was asked if I knew about the Thermae. I said "no" and one of the guys offered to guide me there.
Entrance to the Thermae in those days was at the rear of the building. You had to walk a dark alleyway from Sukhumvit. A bit intimidating the first time. LOL The back area was brightly lit; restrooms were there and you would get an idea of what was inside. Down a flight of stairs and you were there. It felt like I'd entered some joint seen in the movie Blade Runner. Almost surreal. I almost thought I would meet Rutger Hauer in there. LOL I only went there maybe 5 times over the years, as I preferred the go go bars on Cowboy. I can only remember pulling any chick there one time.
Aside from the Ambassador Hotel, you could often find me in the disco at the Nana Hotel if I hadn't already rescued some damsel from Cowboy. Angels, Love Club, et al. Was a disco on the first floor that was routinely packed with freelancers and got really busy after hours and the chicks from Nana Plaza could come over for one last chance to score. There was a real assortment of office / store-shop girls (semi-pros), full time freelancers, and dancers from the bars. When I stayed at the Nana Hotel, I would be there at least twice per week.
Another hotel freelancer venue I went to a few times was the basement restaurant / bar at the Grace Hotel. Even in the 80's it was popularized by Middle Easterners.
