I've never paid more than 1000 baht ever for a gal in all my years in Thailand, but this is getting harder and harder to do, and the attitudes are becoming quite disgusting if you ask me. I live here, I know how much 1000 baht is worth, how much middle class workers earn, and i have seen the changes in the last few years. When I am in my sixtys(in a very short period of years ahead) I don't think I will be too keen on "roughing it" just to stay "in budget".
I applaud the mongers who report in posts who draw the line and "just say no" to outrageous prices and walk or bargain down to real world, cost-of living Thai pricing. They not only help themselves(less payout) but the mongering population in general by keeping a lid on prices.
To quote an old question(that's kind of unsavory to think about) is "Why does a male dog lick its balls? Answer, "Because it can!"

Your written "crusade" can continue, however most people will simply ignore it. AT2Yeah I agree, it still is a bargain for overnight in U. S. But maybe not after considering travel expenses. However you can get better prices than your quoting for ST in U. S. About $120(less than 6, 000 baht) all over Los Angeles or if convenient just head down to Mexico. Well no big deal anyways on the prices. Sorry to interject a negative note, but at Welkom Inn and the Soi 7 beergarden I've never really seen a 'stunner'. Nowadays most girls in both those places are around 35-40 years old.
Until my last trip in December, I would have agreed with this, but my take is that recently, the quality of the pooyang in the Biergarten is dramatically improved over prior visits. I took out two stunners that I repeated with that were quite fine, and there were more than a few alternates who would also have been excellent choices based on appearance. Very few of these ladies appeared to be over 30 (the two hot ones that I took were 27 and 25, with nary a hint of childbirth). Actully, I pulled two OUTSTANDING beach road ladies for 500 each in mid-December. Each of whom I repeated with multiple times, and one of whom was actually the highlight of my entire trip, and I would have happily paid her 1200 ST and 2000 LT if she had negotiated for it. If she had not been out of commission for a few days because her Aunt Flo came calling, I'd have taken her every single night I was in Pattaya.
Admittedly, this is the exception, not the rule, but those gems ARE out there.

I am a relative newbie to the trade. I was in BKK recently for 2 nights. I checked out some of the usual spots and ended up spending some time at the Nana Hotel bar. I called her again the last day of my trip, and she said she'd see me, and I spent my last 4 hours in Pattaya with her for 1000, before leaving for the airport.

Thermae Soi 15 has some additional J-only girls who are better dressed and made up (Japanese Clients Only). These girls only work Thermae as they only want to pick up Japanese men, which is why there is a misconception that Thermae has "more girls". It does, but some are not available to farangs.
So, before you take a girl from Gullivers and think she is better than BeerGarden and pay more, she is very likely a girl who also works the BeerGarden, just you are paying more for your pleasure.
The girls work multiple bars to gain more money, if they are looking for a quick turn, then the Beer Garden Soi 7 offers more potential clients. Its the busiest bar for girls and punters.
If the girl is ok for money, she will try to maximise her returns by moving to Gullivers for a few weeks, hoping to pick up a punter willing to pay more than a Beer Garden punter.
If a girl hits on bad times, you'll find her at 12am to 2am in Thermae, where loads of girls go looking for a punter before they are forced to go home alone.
If a girl is doing ok for money, but not found a man before 2am, then you'll find her is Spice Club Soi 11, along with many other freelancers and gogo girls who have not picked up yet, but want to party and potentially find a customer from there.
You are really only kidding yourselves if you think that girls from different bars are better than other bars, or you pay more. All the freelancers work all the bars. They simply cater for different times and climates.
EG. One girl I know was working BeerGarden and Gullivers, BeerGarden afternoon and early evening due to many men, Gullivers in the late evening hoping to pick up a higher payer. If she met with a long term client, she would go to Absolute Soi 7/1 and Spice Club Soi 11 mostly for evenings with him, so she can avoid potential customers in BG and Gullivers seeing her with a long term.
Now, she has done well from a couple of LT friends, and now she is pretty well off in terms of freelancers, and so she has now changed her working enviroment, she no longer ever goes to BG, and sometimes will be in Gullivers. She will be in disco's Soi 11 more than anywhere else.
And by understanding this you can see how the girl moves up the "food chain". The more she makes, the more experienced she becomes, then she will move on to different bars and higher prices.
The interesting thing here is that for those with time to wait and look around (as in you live here and not just on holiday), if you are looking for really inexperienced (in the professional term) girls, who are sweet and genuine (not battle hardened). You are not going to find them in the premium market segment, like G-Clubs and expensive bars.
You have to go back to basics, of where these girls enter into the P4P trade, and to find these girls, you often will do so at Soi7 and the Nana Car Park/Sukhumvit road at night. For this is where, from time to time, you can find a real cutie (amongst the old word out ones) thats new to the scene, who does not know where to go, but just knows the famous places.

The biggest flaw in your view, is that we are NOT competing with the Thai taxi driver making 6,000 baht a month. No, each hobbyist is competing with the next guy, who came from the U.S., Europe, Asia, etc. who is making somewhere between US$50K to US$200K, and some much much more. When you buy beach front property in Hawaii, I can assure you, what the local taxi driver makes has no bearing whatsoever on what you just paid for that house.
When you pay 500 baht or 1,000 baht for a girl, guess what. You just paid their market price or higher. She would not have gone with you, if she thought she could get more. The good news, is that you are not competing with the guy looking for the 2,000 baht or 3,000 baht girl. And you are for sure not competing with the guy looking for the 5,000 baht girl (I'm talking real value and not what they 1st ask for).
Everyone weighs out the decision, regarding the girl in front of him for X amount of baht, against what else he can get for more or for less. He then makes a reasonable decision based on what he can afford, what he feels is fair, and what he is ultimately looking for.

Well there is another answer.
There are many medium good lookers in Bangkok who cannot get enough customers per day and the cost of living is a lot higher in Bangkok. Too many of the mongers have gone to Pattaya.
So maybe these girls can make enough in Pattaya by doing multiple short times per day, pay their rent, and still have some left over (where its just more of a strruggle in the Bangkok Rat Race).
Maybe they just like the wayward style in Pattaya (where anthing goes).
They don't have to behave prim and proper.

Staying at Citadines on soi16. All mod cons room and great location for a bargain $59. Plus the best and cheapest thai food 50 yards away in foodland. Try it!
Was planning to go for S3 at Akane around 2pm. But it was closed all week for holiday. How on earth can a massage business totally close for a week? Surely they can rotate vacations or perhaps they have all gone en masse to vacation somewhere. I am sure one of our fellow board members will know.
So, decided Sazanka was my next best option in the area. The sazanka massage course has been reported many times and at over 2 hours really leaves you feeling refreshed. The other point that a lot of people fail to acknowledge is that P4P back home is WAY OVERpriced. I met several Thai Supermodels many years ago at an event and I must say, without the special makeup they don't look any special to me. Your photos WERE representative of the range of quality available - although you avoided the really fuglies at the low end and started with a quite plain, but not particularly ugly girl. Your #2 was not a substantial step up, though, and your 3d photo was a BIG step up, not much below the 3 models. I'd pretty much never go with someone as plain as the ones in your first two photos, unless I was really pressed for time, the pickings were REALLY slim, and the price was REALLY low. That being said, it's really not that difficult to find ladies of the quality of your 3rd photo, and sometimes, when you're really lucky, they can be found quite cheaply and also have great attitudes. That was my point - I did, and when I did, I made sure to see her 4 separate times - It would have been more, but I only found her on the last week of my trip.

Especially if you have not actually met her yet, and you're just hoping to randomly pull her. The fact is, in all the times of been to Thailand, I have probably gone with 200 or so different women. And there was EXACTLY ONE of them that I could have spent that kind of uninterrupted time with and trusted her, and not gotten tired of being with her. And I tend to LIKE commitment and fidelity when it's with the right girl. During my last trip, I MIGHT have met a second one, but I did not have enough time to really explore whether she could have been that kind of good friend. So that's one, potentially two, out of 200. BKK will be very easy to figure out and NO, do not start with an escort agency. Keep the agency phone number handy, in case everything else is not working out. I'm not sure, if after one day, you will still be thinking about the one girl thing. For starters, there's no guarantee that you will hit it off with the girl the agency sends you. Some of the agency girls also have day jobs and are making money on the side. Some may not be able to do a 9 day thing. Better to handpick your girl, in your situation anyway.
Visit the usual places, Nana Plaza also known as NEP on Sukhumvit Soi 4. Soi Cowboy near Asoke Station on Sukhumvit. Any girl working for a Go-Go or bar, will mean a daily/weekly barfine, which will add to the cost of these girls. Visit the Beer Garden in the afternoons, hit Gullivers or the Bamboo Bar in the evenings. Hit the clubs, go to the Pent, Boss, Hollywood Bangkok Club, Tunnel Club, CM2, Nana Disco, Spice Club. The Nana Car park is also a midnight to 3:00am option.
There are bars up and down Sukhumvit and down each of the Soi’s (Streets/Lanes). Even coffee shops and the Malls are fair game. Pick up phone numbers and enjoy the adventure. Learning where everything is, is part of the fun. In your position, I would hit a Soapy massage in the Rachadapisek area on your first day, for the experience if you have never tried it. Then decide if you want to lock into one girl and start your search.
I personally like the short time (ST) option. I don't speak Thai, so there are very few girls I can keep an ongoing conversation with. After a while, you will want to start up with someone else. Of course there are exceptions. I also like to get massages daily, so the girl gets in the way.

I have found that OUR looks have exactly NOTHING to do with it - unless you're trying to pull a non-pro. FYI, I'm 48, greying/balding, and 5'8" and weigh 280 pounds, and it has NEVER been an issue in Thailand. The ladies will make jokes about my belly, and I will respond that I am like buddah. As I come from Luxembourg (Europe) I'm not very used to asia; only been to Singapore and Bali till now and I must say I like asia. First of all, as a newbie, I say hello to all people on this very interesting forum.
I'll have my first ever trip to BKK end of march for about 10 days stay. My hotel will be the Shangri-La because I want a minimum of comfort (joking). As it's a 5star hotel I don't want the walk of shame, so I thought I would want one lady with GFE 24h service for my whole stay.
So here are my questions:
1). Is it better asking an escort service (knowing a lot of net photographs aer fake and the price is really big) or is it easyer and cheaper to find a good looking girl directly in BKK?
2). Are there high quality bars (and girls) somebody could recommend?
3). What is the "reasonable" price I should pay for the 9 days in order not to overpay and obviously kill the market?

A higher end street is Soi 33 that has a lot of hostess bars on it. Higher end does not mean higher service or best service, it is still how people react to each other but almost all girls in thai give a GFE if you treat them right.
I would avoid an escort agency personally as you not meet the girl. You can walk into any bar or club and meet the girl and talk first then decide to take for a night or so.
Don't worry about the walk of shame. But it just sound like you would like Soi 33 over NEP. Can you pull a girl for 9 days, of course, probably every girl would be willing for 9 days especially at shangri la from any place you go but that does not mean you will get a winner or that you will be happy. But do you want the same FL walking around with you in Shangri La for 9 days??? What kind of clothes you thing these girls have in their closets at home?? I've had LT GF's in thai and even where I stay I've had to buy them clothes so they fit in a little better (if staying over night who cares but for long term stays I do care). Also if you find a girl you like from a bar there are lower rates for the BF for longer time, usually over three days in a row.

Monet was DEAD lately and the girls changed for the worse, IMHO. Normally I would agree with you that Monet is one I would check out and did check them out but was disappointed lately. The Office was better then Monet. CK or Powleys' or whatever it's called lately had better talent then Monet did. And yes, I like Livingstones, probably a good choice for the poster. I reserved a room in the Queen’s Imperial Park hotel. Nice hotel, GF (asked doorman) and only 3200B.
Walked down to Soi Cowboy and checked out a few bars. First bar I went in was Cowboy Two. Maybe I was too early, but dead. Beer was 90B and I didn’t see anything worth buying a drink for.
Went over to Toy Bar and met a 20 yr named Oh (photos in Photo Galley). She was very cute and fun to play with. Had two beers, 90B and brought her two LDs, 90B. No pressure here to buy drinks. She asked if I wanted to BF her for 400B, but I really wanted to check out the bars.
Went over to DejaVu and was surrounded by six girls who wanted drinks. I picked one and she sat down and wanted a LD before I had ordered a beer. I asked how much and she told me 160B. Too much for me, so I left there.
Walked down to Country Road and ordered a beer, 100B and the band was playing the Beatles and the girls didn’t look too great. One about 30 came over and sat with me and didn’t ask for a LD. I finished my beer and left there.
Wondered over to After School and I didn’t see anything there, it was dead. So I left and went back to Toy’s. After visiting a few bars, I felt like it was the one for the night. Oh was with a customer, so I sat and talked to the bartender. She was around 23 and had glasses like a school teacher. I really wanted her, but knew that I was already marked by Oh.
Five minutes later Oh came over and we had a drink and then she asked if I wanted to go bar hoping. I took her for 400B and she changed clothes and we went to Long Gun. We arrived 5 minutes before the main show and she knew the mamma, so we got good seats. There were about 50 customers. It was fun watching the show with her and she was very playful with the girls. After the show, we went down to Susie Wong’s and watched a show there.
After the show, we went to a short time hotel, 350B. Nice clean room with good A/C. It was located at the end of Soi Cowboy on the right, second floor. After we showered together, she preformed a BBBJ and IMHO great GFE. Damage was 1500B
1st night was awesome and 20 more to go.

You must be more careful in Renoir and Dali. The bars are ok in general, but some groups of girls order their drinks without asking the customer, and afterwards he finds this drinks on his bill.
Be very careful in Christie's and Napoleon, we hear many complaints about this places. Whether and how this is organized ... no comment.
The other bars - I don't know and heard nothing negative.

I have found that OUR looks have exactly NOTHING to do with it - unless you're trying to pull a non-pro. FYI, I'm 48, greying/balding, and 5'8" and weigh 280 pounds, and it has NEVER been an issue in Thailand. The ladies will make jokes about my belly, and I will respond that I am like buddah. And they go with me, no problem. My experience is that these working girls are all about the Baht, and being treated nicely. They have pretty much ALL been treated badly by Thai guys, and they know that Farangs will generally treat them much nicer, as well as spend money on them. And once you prove it, they will want to hang out with you.

That's why we have a board like this. There are a million to a billion different life experiences. In your's, it has not mattered. In my experiences, it has, through observation of others. I have seen girls turn down others or stay firm on prices with some and drop their prices for others. This also includes getting freebies from P4P girls, which some are more apt to get. I've also heard about the stereotyping of the "nice" farang and the shitty Thai guys. Sorry, but that's mostly a myth too, in my observations. You can look the world over and find that shitty guy's are in good supply in all races/cultures. That's why they have restraining orders. But there are also gentlemen too, and I have met many of all races/cultures. I have Thai friends and contacts, both here in Hawaii and in Thailand, and they have perfectly great families and home lives.

Don't worry about inflation. That, unfortunately, is out of our hands. The only way to stop inflation is to stop buying period. That's not going to happen anytime soon.
The 1,000 baht is the high end for an average girl. You can have a lot of fun with the average girl and a great personality. You may need to go up in price for better looks. Here's my view and I'm sure some others will jump in and flame me for it. The 5 is what I would call the average girl. Dime a dozen and you can find thousands of them. A 6 would be attractive, but would not turn your head in a fish bowl lineup. A 7 would be one of those girls that would attract your attention in a big office environment. An 8 or higher and they could be earning a living off their looks alone. That's just my personal ratings and really, one man's 6 is another man's 8.
The bar fine is not included in the prices I listed and of course, the Soapy Massage Parlors have a fixed price structure. The range, depending on the establishment can be about 1,500 baht to 2,500 for most girls and up to 5,500 baht for the models. The Soapy Tips range from 200 to 500 baht. This is a guide, don't take these numbers too seriously! Negotiate!
Below average to average:
Looks 0 to 3 - 300 baht or less. Opebo girls! Just a joke!
Looks 4 to 5 - 500 baht to 1,000 baht.
Above average to very attactive:
Looks 6 - 1,000 baht to 1,500 baht
Looks 7 - 1,500 baht to 2,500 baht
Stunning:
Looks 8 - 2,500 baht to 3,000 baht
Looks 9 - 3,000 baht to 5,000 baht
Perfect:
Looks 10 - They name the price, you accept or walk away.
Personality can play a big part, certainly you might be able to get a way with less. You will find out very fast, within the first 24 to 48 hours. Just talk to a lot of girls. Bargain and you will see what they are willing to accept. There can be a big difference in the asking price and what they will settle for. If it's slow, you can get very lucky. You can do just fine for 1,000 baht to 2,000 baht. To do better than fine, you may need to go higher.
For best bars, don't worry too much about that. The bars are up and down Sukhumvit for several miles. There's Nana Plaza, Soi Cowboy and Patpong if you are looking for a cluster of bars. You can see all three areas in one night, if you just browse real quickly through all of the bars and don't sit down in too many of them.
Soi Cowboy would be the best bang for the buck in my opinion. Nana would be 2nd and Patpong a distant 3rd. Nana does have some great woman, but they will be asking 3,000 baht ST and the lowest you might get is about 2,000 after bargaining. At least for the top of the line girls.
For the afternoon's there's the Beer Garden and for evenings, Gullivers and Bamboo Bar. There's the Pent, Boss, Hollywood Bangkok Club, Tunnel Club, CM2, Nana Disco, Spice Club. The Soi 33 bars, Livingstones Sports Bar (Soi 33). So many options, too many to list.
Hong Kong and Macau is great, but you will never find more options than you will find in BKK or Pattaya.

I recall paying something like 10 bucks last year for fast bus transportation, and I'm expecting to use it when I visit this year. Is that an oversight, or has that service been ended?
It also states that taxis are well regulated, and you cannot take a taxi upstairs at departures. Ridiculous, I have NEVER been down to arrivals. I went to the airport yeterday to drop off the GF, and walked right out departure level, accross the street, and into 1 of 20 waiting cabs.

Just have to be clear before getting in, "Taxi Meter? " I always try to have the 65 baht for the tolls and about 200-250 baht for the fare. That way, there are no "change games" at the end.
Of the pics below, I would rate Bargirl1 a 500 baht girl and she would not be on my "to do" list. No offense to her, since she might say the same thing about me, if the roles were reversed! LOL! The 2nd and 3rd pics, I would be willing to pay 2K baht without any problem, if they show the right attitude. The models, 3K baht to 5K baht would not be a problem for me. I know those models are not on the market. You can find comparables in BKK.

I think they have relaxed a bit at the new airport. When they first opened you could not get a taxi on the arrival level. Now you can, even though you aren't supposed to catch one there.
I will be visiting BKK shortly.

The Airport Express ride was actually less hassle for me because I didn't have to deal with cash. I walked through customs, headed straight for the bus dispatch desk, bought a ticket with a credit card, hopped aboard, and turned into a mumbling vegetable for awhile (I was tired from my flight).
The bus went straight to Sukhumvit and dropped me about a block from Soi 33. I didn't touch Thai money until I after I had checked into Livingstone's, showered and changed clothes.
There wasn't any real traffic between the airport and Sukhumvit, but I could see where a cab and the tollway would be preferable at certain times of the day. I don't think we took a tollway in the bus; I did not see any tollgates.
Returning to the airport, I should have taken a cab if I had been in a hurry. I caught the bus on the south side of Suk near the Phrom Pong skytrain and it took me all over hell's half acre before hitting the highway. It was no problem as I was WAY early.

Hey guys, we are over for a week in BKK. First trip.

-Anyone ever stayed at Presidential Park Hotel? How is it?
-How is the weather now?

Presidential Park ??? You mean President Park? Lots of President's for hotels in BKK, Grand President, Presidents Solitare and I think there is Royal president and probably more etc... I do not know Presidential Park however. If it is President Park it is getting up there in age, lots of new ones now adays, on Soi 24, I actually like the area however, but not next to Cowboy or Nana that is for sure. More near Emporium and Soi 33. Stayed there before, was GF and no major complaints but have moved to other serviced apartments over President Park.
BTW... There is a hotel thread in the Thailand forum. You can search there also.
Krabi... that's in the south... You're going to take a plane down to Phuket or a bus down there for clubbing??? Not near BKK. If you think Krabi is near BKK you are mistaken. Did you look at this on the map?
Define Elite and for what are you looking for, Club or dancing or Ladies or what??
Why avoid Patpong?? Yes it's a tourist trap but you can buy a knock off rolex or gucci bag for the wife and get a BJ in the same area (SOL). Granted yes I do not go there often as there are better places to go.
Clubs... for what exactly, help us out a little. For dancing or to pick up FL's or for girls. For some folks a club could be Suzie Wong's on Cowboy and for others it could be CM2 or such and others it could be Gullivers. Heck as far as I know you could be wanting Eden as your idea of club.
Transvestites... I never ended up with one in my room, others have made the mistake. Some are obvious but of course some are not so obvious. In general have not had any issues with ending up with one. Understand that Thailand accepts transvestites more or better then most places in the world does.

I arrived in BKK airport last Friday 8pm, and went to the 1st level AE kiosk with the intension to take an AE to Suk. A guy at the counter said all the buses except the bus to Kaosarn were stuck in the traffic jams and could not say when they would come to Airport. He suggested to take a taxi to On Nut, which is the last stop on BTS, and from there took a BTS to Asok where my hotel was located. Due to the motorway routing, it probably cost more, but it was circa 300B including 20+25B toll charges and a airport surcharge of 50B (I am not sure this is legitimate). So I was checking in no time at 9pm, and was cheking my list of the possible venue for that night. :D
But I opted for a lady provided in-house, and invited to my room. Well this is another story. ;)
So you are staying a hotel along BTS or MRT, consider this option if you find the BKK streets chockablock, and cannot wait for your first action asap.
Oh, I tool a taxi from the arrival level, expecting a long queue. But there was nobody, it was as if I was the first one for the day. :)

Just one recommendation. Go early .. meaning at opening or just before opening. They have about 20 to 30 girls, and some are pre-booked by regulars like EP. The lineup may have 14 to 20 girls, even if you get there early. Given the two girl theme, it won't take many customers to drop that number down to 6 to 8 girls.
The service from the girls is consistently good, but I think the selection process feels a little rushed. Have a good time!

I don't think that there is a "norm". Some will enthusiastically shower with you, either for a ST or LT encounter, and others won't. I have never been able to predict which ladies would fall in which category.

There are many girls whether it is ST or LT, will not want to shower with you. The ones that don't usually make up some excuses like they are shy about their bodies. They prefer to have you shower first and then they thereafter.
For me personally this is a turn off, so I make sure prior to taking her that she knows exactly what I expect from our encounter and that I like to do some foreplay in the shower. This actually struck me as an interesting question. From my experience... no girl that I can recall has ever refused to shower together, LT or ST. However... saying that, when I was with a new girl that I never was with before, thinking about this, I realized that majority of the time (not all the time) we shower seperately at first. However, after doing the deed we generally shower together.

Spend some time looking through the board and you can find some stuff downtown. There was a great massage place I went to with a local friend. Can not remember the name of it unfortunately for you. The manager during the day was great at recommending who is great. I learned all about their interviews. There is no sexual harrassment in those types of interviews. Now that would make me want to be in human resources!

However many are too shy to shower with a guy at first. May change her veiw later or may not.
Bar girls who dance nude everyday should be less shy.

I like Soi 33 very much and I agree but..... his budget is 3,000 baht.
Soi 33 Bar Fines are 1500 to 2000. Late at night you can get 1000 BF but the girl would have to be desperate to accept 2000 baht for LT. Plus I'd say there are a collection of bars you DO NOT want to hit on 33 due to questionable practices. So Soi sahm sahm I don't think is a good idea for the poster.
Plus we all have a different opinion of what a stunner is.... So hard to advise on his question IMHO.

Are you talking about the rates in general? If you are, there are quality girls around for that price range and many for far less. Somewhere specific like Beer Garden, Bamboo Bar, Nana, Soi Cowboy or Soi 33? You can get rates 1/2 of that easily at the Beer Garden and Bamboo Beer Bar. That is too high for those bars. The Beer Garden is still a 1,000 to 1,500 baht LT option. To me, the pickings are slim there. You can still get those rates at Soi Cowboy and 1,500 LT there is still possible, and at Nana it will be a little harder but still possible.
The Nana girls are pushing for 2,000 ST and 3,000 LT. Many will drop and the top end girls hold their ground if it's busy. You will not likely get those rates in Soi 33. I would consider LT to be closer to 12 to 15 hours.

It's a nice option, right across the Grace Hotel on Soi 3. Look for that Pizza joint and it's right next to it. It's not like the Beer Garden, where you have some action in the afternoon. Most of the fun is in the evening. Booze, freelancers, pool tables, live band, dancers. Worth a look.
It's known as the Bamboo Beer Bar, but the sign out front says Bamboo Pub, if I'm not mistaken.

First time in Bangkok, what is a guy to do?
The more research undertaken, in this forum and others, the more confused I became. In the end I went with what seems to be a few longstanding benchmarks of what Bangkok has to offer:
1. Eden Club. Decided to pick the best looker whatever side of the line and then offer her the choice of who was to join us. Turned out just fine. Vim (my choice) was 'trim, taut and terrific' and Lors (sp), her choice, turned out to be passionate and oh so into getting my rocks off and hers as well! And, a great kisser to boot. In China, every man should walk on the Great Wall. In India, everyone needs to see the Taj Mahal. In Bangkok (Thailand) every man needs to experience the joys of the Eden Club at least once in his life. Some describe it as formulaic. No doubt after a number of visits this may be true. But, for this mug punter, what a great way to be introduced to the exotic delights of Bangkok. No anal. As it turned out both girls came from the other side of the line. Instead, highly skilled oral (TC) and multiple tag team callisthenics with three pops was a great way to start 24 hours of debauchery.
2. Annies. Undoubtedly the highlight. Huge mixed messages about the quality of facilities and services at this long time institution. Apart from the efforts of Mamasan to convince me to go for one or two of the 'aunties' in the fishbowl, I could not fault Annies. Opted for Aor (#11), despite protestations from Mamasan, and could not have done better. Young, enthusiastic, great kisser. The list goes on. Standard format as described elsewhere but the lingering memory is one of someone who was good fun and so wanted to please. Fantastic! BBBJ, FSx2 and HJ all in a wonderful two hours of pleasure.
3. Arkane. Tad unusual here. For the most part service as described elsewhere but limited to HJ with masseuse remaining in lingerie throughout. Based on other posts, I suspect my propensity to go for looks cost me in terms of experience, resulting in service delivery by a newbie. If this had been my only experience in Thailand I would have been sorely disappointed. But as it turned out, the wash was great (I wish more Aussie WLs would indulge in this practice! ), the massage was skilled and the tug was ok too.
Back in the land of smiles later this year and cannot wait to build on this foundation!

Good to hear that the Soi 33 girls will go down to 1,500LT and no, I would never consider you a cheap charlie. The Barfines on that Soi still bother me. Out of line with the general quality of the girls, since they are not in general 2 to 3 times more attractive. An occasional stunner yes, but in general no.
If you are staying at Livingstones, I can understand that it would be convenient.

First it is voltage not wattage. Wattage is a messure of power not voltage. Ie something that is 120 watts, is 120 watts regadless of weather it is 120volts or 240volts. The difference being 120watts at 120 volts is 1amp, 120 watts at 240volts is 0.5amps.
Anyway electronics lesson aside what you require is a step down transformer, I would go to any of the IT malls and have a look, but not sure of your chances though it wouldn't be a common type thing.
Now are you sure your shaver doesn't have a voltage switch. Most you buy in this day and age are either auto sensing or have a change switch.

A converter, a good one, costs more then a hair clipper. Go to a store in BKK and buy a local voltage clipper is my recommendation. If you are desperate to get one a converter google it on line as I do not remember seeing any in Pantip or MBK upstairs or such. You can also ebay it. But a good one, a portable one, will cost you more then a clipper will, I have two, one corded and one plug in. I think each was 30 USD and I got out of China. You can find clippers at MBK or Pantip for little money. Take the bts from nana to national stadium and look upstairs in MBK.
And I agree with JC373... every shaver I've seen works in either voltage. But no shaver ever cuts close enough and i still end up using a blade in BKK.

What you have to remember is that, although you would not think so, these girls have standards too. They will fuck nearly any man for money, some will be "allowed" to bargain cheaper (they like to be seen with nice looking guys), some will have to pay the full rate with no discount.
How long they stay with you will depend on whether they like you, how much your paying etc.

If you reckon you got the best girl in the street, then 2000 is not surprising, although you might have been able to negotiate less.
She is going to want a lot more than the average girl.
If you only got 15 mins, then O.K. it would be high.
I expect at least 1.5 Hrs for a ST.
If you come real quick, then you had better negotiate for 2 shots and a minimum time.

I don't know about a converter, but I've found disposable razors and battery operated shavers in Seven Eleven stores on Soi 3 and 4 near NEP. The latter was only about $7. Aside from that there are tons of barber type services everywhere to get a shave or haircut for a lousy buck.

For the Soapy Massage Parlors, check out Utopia, near the Huai Kwang MRT Station. You will need to take a cab from that station or you will not find it. They had some nice models when I was there in August. Fish Bowl to the left as you enter. Some girls lined up against the left wall and models on the 2nd floor in the bar area. The Pasa could be Pasaya Party Massage. I have not tried them, but here's the rundown of what I have heard and read. It's run by the Lord Group (Long Beach, Copa-Cabana, Malibu, Victoria) and it's on Ratchadapisek near the Suthisan Station exit 4. I have seen the big Marilyn Monroe bill board fronting the place, above the entrance. Billed as an Eastern Spa, it looks like it's more an Oily than a Soapy. The menu reads like an oily.
I may need to add them to my list of places to visit this year.

Look at the Massage thread and look at pages 4, 5, 6 (Keep in mind, could move back a few pages as members post). Mick posted a massage guide. Names, maps, everything. See Long Beach, Copa Cabana, Poseidon, and Utopia. All four probably have what you are looking for.
Forget 2K baht and under though. Think 2K baht to 4K baht and possibly higher as the price range at those massage places. If you go to Nana Plaza, hit the Rainbow Bars (1st floor and 2nd floor) and they may have a few that might meet what you are looking for. The upper level Rainbow Bar especially caters to the Japanese, with many girls sporting the J-Girl hair styles and makeup. Add in Colonze II as a value option for for 1.7K baht to 2K baht. They have an early bird rate, and I think it's before 6:00pm. Nataree is good too, but may not have the type you are looking for.
