This debate over educating guys how NOT to overpay for young, hot, thin, Thai p*ssy (did I say thin?) is very interesting but I need to focus on something actually achievable, say, eternal peace between the Israelis and Palestinians.
Here is my reply to all who responded. If you agreed with me, then you understood what I meant. For others, let me elaborate. Excuse me for the xtra long post.
1. For those who complain: Do you really think that the market of buyers are composed of the few hundred here in this forum? That if we as a group enforced the prices, we would be able control the prices? There are thousands of men (and some women) who come to LOS for the pleasure of sex. They come from all kind of social backgrounds and all kind of wealth. For some 10K is chump change and for others even 100 Baht is a lot. Some consider the dark Isaan skin as a beauty while other prefer the pale skin of the Chinese. So, these men pay what they can afford and their perceived beauty level.
So, if I feel that a girl is a stunner, I might just pay a little higher price just to lay her. On the other hand, if I am running short of cash, I might a) bargain or be) walk away and look for another. Now if I bargain, I might not have a good time, because the girl may think "He is only paying so much, but I am worth more". Yes, you can always kick her out, but the time has been wasted. On the other hand, I might be able to have a good time at the bargained price. It is the luck of the draw.
2. Define stunner: When I posted what I though was good looking to me, a lot wrote back they were marginal. Not for me. I define stunner by attractiveness (it is different from beauty) and attitude. So, if you tell me I overpaid my choice, you would be incorrect. In my mind I paid for a stunner, which you define as ordinary. So where do we draw the line?
3. Go back to your country: What this means is when you go to the market and you feel the prices are high, you can either go to a different market or go back. Now, the airfares have been going up every year. Yet how many of you complain and not come. Same thing here. This is the age of internet and such. When too many punters are making a bee line for LOS, the supply and demand model starts playing. The girls know they can get better prices, if they hold their ground, because there is some other desperate punter waiting in line. The guys have a choice of picking from the pool. But they are only going for the stunners. So the price goes up.
If you are willing to pay extra, you can get the stunners early in the evening. Or wait till they have serviced 5 customers and are giving you "pity" chance at the end of the shift.
As far as I am concerned, if I have the money I pay for it. If I can get them to lower the price, great. If not I just go to the MP and get my rocks off. I am not here to marry them, am I.
So please stop whining and crying. It is an open market with all kinds of supply and demand. Find your niche and go for it. Duniwala deserves a round of applause for a post so very well written, you got all aspects right in my opinion, just a small bit of advice from my personal experience, all girls in the market are aware of the prevailing prices, it is pretty standard in my opinion, for bar girls 2000B ST. 3000- 3500 LT, + extras, it's not really that you would go into one bar in Soi cowboy and find the world of difference in asking prices when compared to the bar next door, maybe a few 100B here or there.

Similar should be the behavior of bar girls, I always ask how much and offer for slightly lower, if they agree good enough, otherwise I would give them what they want and ask them for the best service in the end as that is what really matters in the end, for any tourist how much really will it make a difference in the end after say 20 lays. 200$ probably how much is that really worth these days.
I rather pay what they ask for, rather than pay slightly lesser and compromise on service. Also in one instance I was asked for way lower than the asking rate and ended up taking a LB home by mistake, who of course was thrown out later, but only I ended up wasting valuable time and ended up in a super spoilt mood.

Disagree with you. Local price and availablity definitely plays a part in my decision where to travel and how long to stay in one place. For someone planning a trip soon, this information is invaluable. I'm not ultra rich nor below the poverty level but I like paying a fair price for everything. I think that there's a good chance that LOS won't be an affordable option in the next ten years and if crack and other drugs along with a sinking economy continue to take hold in North America, cheaper fun will be only available here. Haven't posted here for a while, but feel its a good time to add my 2 cents worth.
I've been in 3 relationships with Thai women. 1 had a p4p background whilst the other 2 worked in the hotel industry, I've also had many one nighters with the local p4p.

I can quickly tell a girls attitude about my money after one night. I will let her pick the place to eat or drink, if she picks something that costs more than 150bt for 2 (not including drinks) I know she will want to spend my money and try get the most out of me. The difference could be much more than that in most cases (that is, if people would not pay much more than the real market value), but anyway, with 200$ (that's approximately 6000 baht), you can do many things in Thailand, especially outside the tourist-oriented venues.
Where I live (Northeastern Thailand), I can have 20 ST sessions on premises with young and pretty girls at several local brothels (actually, between 10 and 12 as I often tip them or give them an incentive for some extras, such as anal, for instance) for this amount. You can fuck about the same quantify of streetwalkers (usually older and much less attractive than my brothel-based cuties, though) in the Chinatown district of Bangkok. It would be better with monthly summary tables, of course, but that's already interesting, IMHO.

Nana Plaza seems far more sex orientated. During the day it's dead and you won't find any action. This is a night time spot and if you want to avoid the non-mongering tourists that just want to point and laugh then the later the better. Plus, go inside the Nana Plaza (like a three storeyed mini mall) , the outer streets have girls but also far more non-mongering tourists. A strong warning is that you are going to get hassled. Much cheaper also exists but you're going to compromise somewhere and you're going to have to negotiate. More expensive possibly exists also, depending on what you're after. Talking time, from my experience, unlike brothels the hour you get is an actual hour and not a matter of when you cum your done. However, to save any uncomfortable arguments later, establish this early on.

Koh Samet is nice, but it takes a little while (3-4 hours) to get there (by taxi & ferry). A nice hotel on the beach in Hua Hin would make for an impressive overnight trip. It only takes about two hours by taxi to get there.If you're already going to the different night entertainment areas with your wife and she's open to the scene, I would suggest Pattaya over Hua Hin. Not much night activity in Hua Hin but the beaches are cleaner. It's also more of a "top shelf" destinations but be prepared to pay a little more for the room. All the major chains have resort properties there.
The Dynasty Nana Grande off of Soi 4 had a deal with their sister propery in Pattaya. The deal included a night or two in Pattaya including bus transfers. Ok property in Bangkok so my guess it's good and Pattaya. It apparently is not in the heart of all the entertainment action but close enough.

SOI COWBOY.
Soi Cowboy is a small street full of bars and is packed with standard tourists and mongerers alike therefore it can be a little embarrasing for the more self conscious. Plus, I'm not 100% on this as I never paid for a girl there, but I think it caters more for the take home variety. With Nana Plaza so close, I wouldn't recommend Soi Cowboy unless you want to dance and party with your girl before any action. Am I the only one to think that this makes no sense at all?

Nana has little food and trinkett stall (back of 2nd floor and top floor) where a lot of the bar girls assemble and eat before shift. They have to be channeled into the bar and almost physically forced to do it, then they can think "well she wouldn't stop insisting and I just went along with it". Add to that the drunk guys they can grab and take home before they realize what happened.
I visited a LB bar for the first time in Patpong about 2 weeks ago. Inside a LB bar, the aggressiveness is also very high compared to the average gogo. You sit down at a table and the whole freaking bar staff, I kid you not, like 20-30 "ladies", come in front of your table and shouts at you "me me me" until you choose a "lady" to sit down with you and have a drink. They do not stop until you do. Just a barrage of shouting. I've never seen anything like it. And again I think it is down to business. If they didn't do this, too many people would come with friends and gawk, but nobody would pull the trigger and invite someone down. This way at least they make money on drinks, and they get a shot at convincing you to barfine them (and boy, do they try...lol). It's not a bad experience to do with friends. Most of these LBs are very nice people, and fun to interact with if you are not negative about it.

Once you are thru the 2hr ST either you sleep or try to spend the remaining hrs in someway.

I used cash for 90% of everything, I don't use cash for the BTS or MRT. I buy a multiple trip pass or load up the credit on the card. I cans stand waiting to pay at those electronic kiosks and just flow through the gates. Also credit cards for flights because I can never get good deals at the Air Asia counter at that Ekkamine mall or whatever it's called. Don't you hate it how there's upto a 3% to use your card and even 5% for Amex in some places. I guess, unlike in the US, the prices are inflated to include the credit card fees for murchants.
I don't think Big C or Carrefore charged a premium as well so ok to use there. Hell, if I didn't use my credit card, I'm sure I would get just as my eyebrow raises becuase it's not in my nature to slam down the plastic.

Last night decided I needed to get out and head to Nana with one of boys. 1st stop was Strikers for some warm up drinks. I really like what they have done with the remodel. There was some talent hanging out in the bar, but it was to early in the evening to pull anything and plus I was on a mission to hits some place I hadn't been in a while.

Can anyone give me the definitive answer on the status of Wild Country in Washington Square. I have read conflicting reports in other forums. Some suggest it is no longer open as Washington Square is being demolished to make space for some hotel or something such as that. Others report that it is still open and going as strong as ever. I've been in BKK many times but have never been to Wild Country and would like to check it out when I'm there again in about a month.

Having walked around during the day I think I understand the numbering system. There is a small sign at the end of the Soi, and in the evening a trader sets up his stall in front of it so no body can see it.

MDWhen I was there in January, I would hit up Nana Liquid Disco a little further down Soi 4 after 2 am. You may find a nice little FL there or non-pro looking for a little extra money.

You can go to shock69 after 2 or 2:30 when all the gogo and clubs are open. Its a disco and its open till 5 in morning. Whats good about this place is all the girls working in gogo, bars or massage parlours move to this disco after all other places close down. Lot of good stuff is available.
