For me I don't see the need to travel with lots of cash with me, so I don't.
I can afford transfer fees and ATM fees when hit with them. Sounds good. To each his own.
My approach is exactly the opposite. I bring lots of cash (more than I ever seem to need) and my wallet never leaves my briefcase until I hit the hotel then into the safe with my passport and phone. I travel with 1 credit card mixed in with some cash in my pocket (the rest in my wallet) and after checkin that cc goes back into my wallet and doesn't come out till I return. My personal preference is I'd rather lose some cash then have to deal with stolen cc numbers and all associated hassles as I find myself more and more these days wanting to reach through the phone line and slap the customer service rep - usually somewhere in Madras or the Phils - but again, to each his own...
Regarding getting robbed / drugged – sure we all hear stories but not enough to worry methinks. Much like a plane crash - individually devastating but statistically rare.
In the end were all after the same thing, just different ways of getting there I guess.

FVIf rules haven't changed, go to Kasikorn Bank. Show your passport, give them an address (hotel will do) and open the account.

If you're from Germany, you can get a DKB Visa Card, you can withdraw any amount with absolutely no additional cost, the rate is always better than what you get at the exchange places.I have to correct myself, just checked their website, it seems anybody can open a completely free dkb cash online account. Withdrawels are absolutely free worldwide with the dkb visa card (visa card is also free, no yearly fees) , and they pay 1, 65 percent interest on your deposits. Technically you get a reimbursement for the 150 baht that you get charged when withdrawing cash from thai atms. It is an euro account though.

I can only speak from experience in ONLY using the noted Debit cards for ATM withdrawals one does get refunded the 150 bt fee the beginning of the next month. I fully concur with your comments when using a debit card for purchases. Never, ever which is why I hold a Capital One Visa card for purchases. No 1% add on or visa fees. Been using this card for years.

HenryI've been to Thailand many many times and I have never heard or seen of a hotel that provided girls. There are plenty of girls around NANA and all over BKK that the hotels don't do that.

FVIt's very easy. Just go to the website of any Thai Bank. They will have English directions on what you need to open a bank account.
It's not that easy actually. Many agencies will refuse if you don't have a residence permit. Including Kbank agencies. But some are OK with it; go figure. Addresses can be found by searching the thread.

general tips
1. print (sexual) maps.
bkk is a huge city, and knowing the address of a place will not make things that easier. never tell a taxi driver / tuck tuck driver that you're going to a massage place, he will either get a commission from that place (that you will have to pay) or try to talk you into going somewhere else. just ask to be dropped of by a hotel nearby (thus the maps).
if you have maps, you will see that it's quite easy to actually take the skytrain to most places, which is cheap (20 bath) and easy. and that in most areas, you can walk from one place to another.
it seems i can't share the link to the maps i've used in this post, but they are on the ************* website (map section)
2. stay in the nana area.
i found the best area to stay in to be nana, cause it's at a skytrain stop, but also cause it's walking distance to nana square (the best go go bars and sw area) and to some of the best massage (i. e eden.) and soapy massage (i. e annies) places. it's also very close to soy cowboy (1 skytrain stop or 15mn walking distance) who is a popular destination. you will also be very close to the 3 best clubs in the city, climax, bed and q ball. ( get a map!)
3. book a hotel.
if you decide to stay in the nana area, i'll make it easy for you:
- if you have no money, stay at nana hotel
- if you have some money (40-80 euros a night) stay at phacharas suites.
- if you have a lot of money (100 euros and above) stay at the marriott
all 3 are walking distance from each other and are girl friendly.
massages.
stop hesitating: if you have to try a massage, try at least these 3:
1. mango massage: the best one according to forum (s) members and local foreigners i've met during my trip.
2. eden massage: eden if famous for you having to get 2 girls who will dress up anyway you want and do anything you want. it seems to be the only place where if you take two girls they will also and sex with each other rather than taking times with you. but you have to pay for 2 girls.
3. annies massage: one of the best soapie massage in town, and you have to try a soapie at least once in your life. they are a few (but not a lot) other places offering soapie, but this is the original one and a safe bet. i've be to nataree as well, wich turned out to be disappointing. if you try only one, go for annies.
blow jobs.

the girls only offer a blowjob for 700 baths.
that's all they do all day, so they're pretty good at it, although they pretty much all have the same technique.
i checked it out, and it was a great blowjob indeed.
i find it to be a good place to start with when you go out, so that you're not fully loaded and thus more patient in choosing the right girl in places where you will pay and expect more.
but come on. 10 euros for a good blowjob is a pretty sweet deal!
if you stay in the nana area, it's a 5mn walk from all 3 hotels listed above.
go go bars.
i will share more on go go bars, as i haven't been able to find as much info about them in the forums, compared to massages or soapies. (and also cause i had a blast going to them)
go go bars are places that are open from 7pm to 2am (best time to go is around 9 or 10 until late) where 10 to 80 girls dance on stage. entrance is free but you're expected to get a 70-145 baths drink (depending on the place and the time you go).
it's a great way to start if you're a newbie in bkk for many reasons
- time: you can order a drink, sit back and relax, no one is going to be very pushy.
- looks: if you've been to 3 go go bars, you've seen about 120 thai girls, and you can have a sense of what thai hookers look like, and what particular style does if for you. this will be helpful later on when you're picking up a girl in a massage place, because you will know the hotness level you can expect and be able to make the right choice of girl with less time to make it.
- choice: the go go bars are in 3 separate areas in the city (see below) but in each area, there at 10 to 30 bars. don't spend an hour in one bar. just go from one to the other, have a drink in each one, and leave when your beer's empty. only stay if you really like a girl that's in the particular bar you're in.
- mood: i found it a good way to get the mood of the city, chatting with tourists, mamasans, and random girls during their dancing breaks (who by the way are used to having a guy flirt with them for 15mn and leave it there, so take your time!)
once you did find your dream girl, tell the mamasan (you will know who) , she will have the girl sit with you for a chat. you pay a ladydrink (150 bath) , and have some time to decide if you want to go for her or send her back dancing. if you choose to 'take her', you have to pay the barfine (600 bath) and then you have two options. spend 1 hour with her in a room nearby (usually right above the bar) or take her out for part of or the entire night.
1 hour will cost 300 bath for the room + 1500 bath for the girl, for a grand total of 2400bath. i haven't taken a girl for the night, but i hear you can get away with 3000 bath for the girl.
i don't think you can get amazing sex if you take the 1 hour option. you're in a just ok room, you're allowed only 1 pop (except if you make it very (extremely) clear to the girl before you pay her that you want 2) and i found it to be nice, but a bit mechanical. but maybe that was my fault.
there are 3 places with go go bars in bkk, and each place has many of them.
1. patpong: 2 parallel streets with a night bazaar in the middle of them and bars, go go bars and ping pong shows (sexual show: go there once if it sounds fun to you, but not worth spending more than 45mn in there). patpong is the historical sexual center, thus looks old and run down. everyone looks sad, girls dance in bikini tops and shorts, i found it to be a bit depressing. if you have a chance to go to nana or soy cowboy, i wouldn't even bother going to patpong.
2. soy cowboy: 1 street full of go go bars. about 20 different bars. 50% dance in bikini top and bottom. 30% topless and 20% fully naked. depends on the bar rather than on the girl, so take a quick look inside and leave if what you see is not your thing.
3. nana square: definitely the place to go to, imo. more bars than any other place (30?) better girls, better mood, but more expensive. a drink will cost you 145 bath at any time of the night, whereas they have happy hours until 9 or even 10 in most bars in soy cowboy (half price).30% bikini. 40% topless. 40% fully nude. there's something for everyone, but if you're in a rush, at least drop by the following places
- rainbow 4: the biggest place, the 1st one to be crowed. great selection of girls, but imo, not the best mood. nothing "crazy" going on.
- spankys: not the best looking girls, but the craziest of them all. girls spank each other with some sort of plastic tube that doesn't hurt but makes a hell of a noise. you can also spank them yourself, and even buy the tube (nice souvenir: i bougth 2!). it's not s&m at all, just pure fun, and the girls seem to love it there. it looks like they're all friends, and having a great time. there's also a shower in the bar with 2-3 girls showering together and soaping each other up.
- i also liked to place all the way up when you take the left stairs upon entering nana square (fun girls) and the place all the way up when you take the stairs to your right upon entering (the best dancers) but i forgot the names.
watch out for the ladyboy go go bars. the information is somewhere on the web (can't recall where) but it's actually quite easy not to be mistaken: if a girl you pass by is very aggressive with you, groping you and stuff, it's probably a boy. if a go go bar is very empty and the girls wear shorts, just leave.
i've had 3 girls from 3 different bars. 1 was great. 1 was ok. 1 was poor. i guess you have to be lucky but spending some time talking to the girl before and seeing if there's a good or great vibe definitely helps!

For all of you fans of Rawhide, it has undergone a management change and other changes have happened as well.
Firstly, the neon ceiling with the aquatic scenes (which has been there since the post fire revamp) has gone. Not to everyone's taste but I found it different and like it. The place now has disco lights.
Rawhide now has a pussy show similar to the one in Long Gun (Lucky Star). It may even be the same girls as the two bars where owned by the same person, I am not sure about ownership now. I am not a big fan of pussy shows, I find them a bit degrading to the girls, but if they are your scene then now you know.
The staff have changed. Both the main front of house mamasans have gone (one told me she was heading to Billboard on Nana).

Ok, I don't get to Bangkok too often which is both a shame and blessing. Too frequent trips and I think I would expire prematurely.
Let me preface the fact that I didn't arrive in BKK all horny and eager as I have done on previous trips. I had enjoyed 3 nights in Manila the week before with 3 young gals for nocturnal company and the night before my BKK trip enjoyed a Filipinia in Hsinchu in Taiwan. So I arrived relaxed.

Seems he just sends money and doesn't have much to do with her these days. So she's bored and in BKK. So at 1. 30 am she arrives at my hotel, having driven there, with two bottles wine. She leaves hotel at 11am.

Up at 7pm, and wander around Cowboy and Nana (and see great gangs of Indian guys all over the place. A new BKK trend!)

The river is okay if you are concentrating on touristy things like Royal Palace, what Pho (reclining Buddha) , what Arun (Temple of dawn) , what Saket, what Traimit (Solid Gold Buddha) etc, if you do try to be not too far from BTS line at Sapaan Thaksin or to a freeway entrance, so can get to other areas quickly. Traffic can be bad.
I prefer to stay close to Sukhumvit and Asoke intesection so can catch BTS (Skytrain) or MRT (Underground) easily to get to other places. Also not far from many Oily MPs.
Agree that many clubs are not great including Bed Supper Club (too cramped). A club should have a large dance area, mixed music variety, DJ who doesn't fuck it up, sound quality, and excellent ventillation to even to start to be impressive.
Annies is not a very typical Soapy. Rooms are very small. For me its barely in the Soapy category, more like a hybrid between a wayward Oily (small rooms) and a Soapy. Yes it does bath in most rooms. Wouldn't make to a top Soapies List for experienced Soapy goers. However for those looking for a more pornstar experience, Annies will probably beat most soapies.

I'm sure that if you visit BKK several times or stay longer, there are hidden treasures to be found and tried as well.
It's absolutely possible that Bed and Qball are not the best clubs, but they are very famous, packed, fun, popular, and in the Nana area. I'd love to try others next time I'm in town if you have some recommendations.

One last reaction concerning the hotel recommendations: someone (I'm not sure it's you) said that staying in Nana Hotel was a bad idea, as the place is a "dump". Well, I haven't been staying there, so I can't comment, but I recommended it only as an option if you don't have money. It's cheap, and the tourists I met who made the financial choice of staying there were quite happy with it. But of course, you can do better, maybe even in the same price ranges.

I don't know how you can remember the names of the places. Bangkok was my first stop on the trip. I was so tired from the flight, plus drinking whisky, and checking out the scene. I could not remember the club I visited while there. I do remember bring a girl back from a club near Nana plaza. The club was a quick 5 minute cab ride from the corner (near McDonalds).

I believe it cost 200 baht to go in. Beer was good, girls were cool, and we all had fun. I never even discussed baht with my girl. We were both having a great time, drinking, dancing, and making out. At the hotel, she provided outstanding service and stayed all day (we didn't get back until very late). After we work up and had more fun, we went to eat in the early evening. It was well after 4pm. I have stayed at the Nana Hotel, for years! Some consider it a dump some consider it okay like me. In all my years I have never seen roaches in the rooms, there is the classic red dark carpet that is use in many old hotels like Nana. I wish it was something else but it is what it is?
I stay at the Nana as a base because it is near the BTS, and centrally located when I need to visit the US Embassy in the morning after a night of mongering at the Nana Disco which is now Liquids? I can stay down the road in something cheaper for half but Nana has always been good to me. Use to be 1290 baht, but has been raised to 1490 baht since my last stay in August of 2010. With that I get a free drink at the bar, although I never use the coupon with a free newspaper in the morning and a free buffet breakfast. Last year the manager offer me a free suite when he found out I rode my bike from Pattaya to Bangkok at my age but I decline and said all I need is a regular room but felt for a hotel like Nana it was a nice offer! I could go down the road and get something smaller along with the red carpet for 1/2 the price but Nana has been good to me and given me some good memories!
Lately I have been thinking about finding another place to stay not because I'm a racist or anything but I noticed through the years the population that use to stay on Soi 3 is now moving into the Soi 4 area and I have develop a sensitivty to see women all cover up and the men rudely speaking and being pushy. It just my thing sorry! But right now I would still stay at Nana because (to me) they have a great grill porkchop dinner and I still like the Bus Stop and having the disco (liquid) open is a plus if you don't want to venture too far.

Agreed, I think I mentioned that if your main purpose is mongering then staying in the Nana area makes sense. Otherwise I would certainly chose a hotel outside of those sex-tourist areas.

To clarify: Climax is a late night spot where basically the left-overs go after the bars (gogo's, beer bars) close at around 1 am. It's a meat market, good for mongering (purpose of this forum) , sub-culture. Bed Supper Club and Q Bar are not really mongering spots, though you find some professionals and semi-professionals there, too. This are clubs trying to target the upscale market (more or less successful) , quite expensive places. I never understood this concepts, have no idea where the fun factor is in those places, and I never felt good in there (but that's my personal taste).
For mongering it makes more sense to go to places like Spasso, CM2 or even Bangkok Beat in Sukhumvit Soi 7/1. For fun Narzissus (Narz) , several Thai clubs (read Stickman's weekly, approx. 2 weeks ago) , Saxophone at Victory Monument, the Jazz Bar strip at Lumphini Park, for the younger people the clubs of RCA (Route 66 etc.).

BG was packed with people last night. Saturday night most of the bars / clubs here in Soi 33 were closed. Livingstone's was open, and we had quite good business. Yesterday (Sunday) most of the bars here in the road were open, and sold alcohol. Only very few customers in all the road.
The risk for some police action when selling alcohol on the pre-election weekend is low. Next week it will be different! Next week the police will try to make money. The risk is always on the bar owners side. The customer usually has no problem. He just need to find a place where alcohol is sold.
To a certain extend I find the action on those days strange: Lots and lots of customers come in and ask whether we sell alcohol. Most of them walk out when we answer that we don't. There are obviously many people out there who cannot survive a single day (or even two) without drinking. Certainly something those people should think about.

ThanksI took that 9. 30 pm flight 10 days back, arrived at midnight and was happily with company 90 minutes later. It can be done. HK way more expensive and don't forget theres always lots of stuff on the streets of BKK regardless of time. Outside Westin on Sukhumvit last Friday night there was over 20 at 10pm. If you have never been to BKK I don't know what you are waiting for. Its Sexual Paradise. Go go go.

As for Nana, I found it a very practical location for tourism and mongering, as you're right in the middle of the mongering action and easely connected to many tourist attractions thanks to the Sky Train stop.
Anyway, the reason I'm posting again is that when I read that you are a hotel owner yourself and saw that you have been posting 4000+, I got curious and ended up discovering the entire section on this forum that you manage.
For some reason, I had never checked it you, and I think that other newbies might oversee it as well.
That's too bad, cause there's a lot of great advice in there, and especially because there is actually a hotel that will not only welcome newbies, but give them all the advice they need to enjoy the city once they check in.

CSRelax, BKK is the mongering equivalent of 6 Flags amusement park. Take a stroll through cowbow (1 block long) and you'll have everything you are looking for. The next nite if, there is one, head over to Nana and repeat. Regarding LB's, you'll know them when you see them...

I believe that the calorie content means you could add 20kgs a year drinking beer over say soda water. I just know 1 drink chased down by one soda water is better for the head.
When girls see me drinking soda, I see an attitude change for the better, and some knock-backs (I guess they know I am not exactly going to pass out and fall asleep).
Found one beer bar where soda is 15 baht, so I always tip up to around 45 bt (beer was 50) so they see it is not a money thing, and then better at barfining them out before 10pm as I drop hints that I never barfine LT after 12 pm, so they are keen to snag an early nights rest.
LT is 1000, fine 200-300 max, but in the beer hall end walking street Pattaya Klang they often cave to 100 bt barfine after 1am. IF they know you move on. Maybe they know I never negotiate and am a nice keeniu by nature. I say they have tom tom drums as if I move bars
They say 'I go 1000' straight up if its a slow night.
Not managed to go under 1000 at anywhere yet. My second rule is that I tip 200 extra if they did not need prompting in the morning or invent excuses to leave early. Third rule is I always try to pick a prettier one next night, but if that does not pan out, previous one (if satisfactory) has first right of pick. If the price is high I walk and don't tip on the soda much.
This I can cover twice as many bars for the same price by sticking to non-alcoholics.
Some bars say they don't have soda water when they do, you just have to call it by the brand name. And if the bin price is high, I leave the soda, and tell the bar manageress I don't want to insult her girls, and judging by the soda waters price, better go back to my 'usual' bar.
I guarantee if you ask next night, their soda water has been reduced to 15 bt.
I'm sure they call me Mr soda water behind my back, but at least I get to mess with their heads, that this farang is not a fool, and is a keen shopper.

It is in Soi 33 where there is sufficient action fo some kind and the other actions (Soi Cowboy, Nana) are reachable either by walling (20') or taxi or moto-taxi.

Bangkok's alcoholic farang population 'unpredictable'
BANGKOK – Thailand's police have called up all reserve staff for a full show of force ahead of this weekend's election, as a precaution against unrest and violence from angry, sober alcoholic expatriates during the ban on alcohol sales.
The ban, in accordance with national election law, prohibits retail alcohol sales at stores, bars and restaurants from 6pm Saturday to midnight Sunday. The 36-hour period is traditionally a high-risk period in areas with high concentrations of expats, such as Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok and large swaths of Pattaya.
'Due to the importance of this election, we are taking no chances with expatriate sobriety-related violence, ' said a stern National Police Chief Police General Wichean Potphosri. He justified the deployment of over 20, 000 additional security officers nationwide as a necessary precaution against 'deranged, sober foreigners. '
Additionally, numerous bars and nightlife areas in Bangkok and other cities will be shut down altogether to avoid gatherings of large numbers of non-drunken expats. Wichean has launched a PR campaign encouraging them to stay home on Saturday night 'for once. '
Although large-scale rioting by un-intoxicated foreigners is rare, many previous Thai elections have seen small outbreaks of civil unrest, usually by expats who were unaware of the election at all and who reacted badly to being told that they can't have a drink at their favorite establishment.
'For many of these men. 36 hours without a drink and the company of a rented Asian female represents something unacceptable, terrifying even, ' said Noppawan Rangkulan, sociology professor at Thammasat University. 'Sobering up means becoming momentarily aware of their graying bodies and emotionally hollow lives. What we think of as an alcohol-free night represents an existential crisis for them. '
Noppawon claims this 'sobriety shock' is an actual medical pathology and recommends that hospitals offer free alcohol IV drips during the election weekend.
'Most expats are perfectly reasonable people, ' she said. 'The few deranged ones that end up yelling at waitresses at Irish pubs, they just need help. '
But according to Election Commission member Prapun Naigowit, much of the problem simply stems from a lack of communication. 'Many expats are so isolated from the realities of the country they live in that something as major as an election can slip under their radar, ' he explained. 'Those who prepare ahead of time can easily get through the weekend by having a case of beer and a few DVDs ready at home. '

Police Prepare For Election Day Expat Sobriety Riots
Bangkok’s alcoholic farang population “unpredictable”
BANGKOK – Thailand’s police have called up all reserve staff for a full show of force ahead of this weekend’s election, as a precaution against unrest and violence from angry, sober alcoholic expatriates during the ban on alcohol sales.
The ban, in accordance with national election law, prohibits retail alcohol sales at stores, bars and restaurants from 6pm Saturday to midnight Sunday. The 36-hour period is traditionally a high-risk period in areas with high concentrations of expats, such as Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok and large swaths of Pattaya.
“Due to the importance of this election, we are taking no chances with expatriate sobriety-related violence,” said a stern National Police Chief Police General Wichean Potphosri. He justified the deployment of over 20,000 additional security officers nationwide as a necessary precaution against “deranged, sober foreigners.”
Additionally, numerous bars and nightlife areas in Bangkok and other cities will be shut down altogether to avoid gatherings of large numbers of non-drunken expats. Wichean has launched a PR campaign encouraging them to stay home on Saturday night “for once.”
Although large-scale rioting by un-intoxicated foreigners is rare, many previous Thai elections have seen small outbreaks of civil unrest, usually by expats who were unaware of the election at all and who reacted badly to being told that they can’t have a drink at their favorite establishment.
“For many of these men, 36 hours without a drink and the company of a rented Asian female represents something unacceptable, terrifying even,” said Noppawan Rangkulan, sociology professor at Thammasat University. “Sobering up means becoming momentarily aware of their graying bodies and emotionally hollow lives. What we think of as an alcohol-free night represents an existential crisis for them.”
Noppawon claims this “sobriety shock” is an actual medical pathology and recommends that hospitals offer free alcohol IV drips during the election weekend.
“Most expats are perfectly reasonable people,” she said. “The few deranged ones that end up yelling at waitresses at Irish pubs, they just need help.”
But according to Election Commission member Prapun Naigowit, much of the problem simply stems from a lack of communication. “Many expats are so isolated from the realities of the country they live in that something as major as an election can slip under their radar,” he explained. “Those who prepare ahead of time can easily get through the weekend by having a case of beer and a few DVDs ready at home.”
The EC has launched an educational campaign by posting messages on Thaivisa.com, reminding expatriates of the alcohol ban and suggesting that they host ‘Election Parties’ in their apartments.
Major grocery chains such as Tops have also joined in the campaign, touting 12-packs of Chang and Singha at their outlets with offers of free coolers as part of their “Stay Home, Stay Wasted” promotion.
Although the EC is confident in their campaign, Noppawan still thinks that planning ahead simply goes against the mentality of the alcoholic in general, and the alcoholic expat in particular.

Long time reader here first time poster. Long overdue for me to give something back. First time in the Nana scene so the advice like chill out and others gave beforehand was really useful.
Followed the Nana route suggested by Chill Out as below. It was a Saturday night. Thought it would be more crowded but surprisingly not.

I was in Bangkok a week ago (first time) , and after RTFF, I decided to try out Annie's.

I have never had any problems with the quality of drugs sold there.
On the other hand, if you buy from the stalls on the Sukh they are clearly labelled as fakes insofar as they are often in Pfizer Viagra boxes. Pfizer Viagra costs around £20 / pill in the UK (private prescription) , so they are guaranteed to be fake boxes. And if the boxes are fake then I wouldn't put much store on the medicines inside them.
Most (but not all) pharmacies aren't in the business of selling fakes because they want repeat customers. Last week I bought some Kamagra gel from a small pharmacy near Prantip Plaza and they had no effect, plus they had a different taste and constituency to others I have bought from Soi 4. I guess the pharmacist knew I wouldn't be coming back anyway. But also sometimes the pharmacist doesn't know they are fake. He just buys stuff wholesale from a middleman, and has no quality control when buying unregulated generics.
An earlier post suggests that gels are messy and too strong. I have to disagree. I find them very convenient particularly when waking up in the morning after a heavy night and preparing for a good morning session. But then I am old.
Now the next part really bothered me, she washed me in the tub, but then did not completely drain the tub water, only half of it.
So I'm half soaked in my own (and her) dirty tub water while she starts to rub herself all over me with soaps lotions, etc.

I was in Bangkok a week ago (first time) , and after RTFF, I decided to try out Annie's.
There are probably better ones but I did not have much spare time due to work to explore other options.
I took a cab and told the driver Mariott suckahmvit soi 2 as I was told never tell Taxi drivers that you're going to Nana or any soapy massage place as they will just drive you around Bangkok and take you to the ones they know so they earn a percentage.

I stayed there in June. Standard room w / wifi was US$60 / night. Price of room is actually for double occupancy, so you're expected to have a guest! They have a small pool on the top floor. If your stomach can handle it, there are street food stalls right outside of the hotel at night. Perfect for fuelling the body before hitting the bars. For fruits, I would recommend going to the stall outside of Nana plaza. Better prices.
I normally stay at the Dynasty Grande, but Soi 6 had construction and it wasn't passable. They're actually sister hotels. The pool at Dynasty Grande is bigger, but Dawin is a bit newer, so same-same.

You took the words right out of my mouth. You are too use to bath houses in Japan. In my opinion in the future if there is one you got to get over the dirty water thing? Even if you were to visit a cleaner facility you got the same dirty water coming in from the pipes (can't drink that water no matter where you are in Thailand ). You got to remember you were in the tub too! Under your situation even if the girl gave you a BBBJ in the tub you still would have been thinking about YOUR dirty bath water. Soapies, Soaplands, Saunas (China) are THE best places to monger IMHO.
Sunday: After the previous night (report in BKK massage forum) I decided to relax in the sauna 'The King & I' (Sukumvith, Soi 12 I think, the place where all the Korean shops are). They have an excellent sauna (Jacuzzis, steamroom, sauna, ice bath) and its nice to relax there and get some rest. I felt a bit stiff (the back, not what you might think!) so I booked a massage there and got Feit (No 85). She gave me the best oil massage I ever had in Bangkok. Strong and sensual, getting rid of all the nods. Her English is perfekt and I had to concentrate to not talk to her in the bad English I usually use in Thailand. Around midnight I took a cab to CM2. 650 THB got me in and two drinks. The clubs was quite empty (which wouldn't change for the whole evening) and the band on stage continued to massacre one bad pop song after another. Seriously, if I had known that you can be this bad and still get gigs I would have never stopped my jodeling sessions in church school. But I wasn't there for the music, I wanted love, Balkan style. Unfortunately the Eastern European ladies there were undergoing various stages of reverse metamorphosis. Usually during metamorphosis an ugly worm turns into a beautiful butterfly. Ladies from the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe undergo this reversely, usually starting the transformation around 25, skipping the next 20 years, directly turning into 45. Yes, you had a few cute ones around but I think this was partly because the lighting was in their favour and I didn't have my glasses on.
The reason I stayed were the funny middle aged Indian guys throwing doing ridiculous dances whenever they could. I respect people who don't give a damn about what others might think and just have fun. So I watched the guys dance and tried to understand the place. What surprised me most was that none of the Russian ladies seemed to make and effort to approach somebody. Most would just sit there, looking bored, old and simply out of place. No smiles, nothing. But still guys would approach them! It should be said however that none (NONE!) of the Eastern Europe fraction left the club with a client. The guys would whisper something to them, the ladies would whisper back (the price I assumed) which led to an instant retreat of a head shaking guy. The best part was when I heart the fattest one of all (last stage of reverse metamporphosis) clearly asking for 6000 THB.
It would have been no problem to pick up a nice Thai lady. You had some stunners there, smiling at you, stepping closer, but I still had my head set on Eastern Europe. So around 2. 30pm I moved on to Nana Liquid. Big mistake. Just bad. No girl above 5, not even the bad light could hide some of the uggies. Within 5 minutes I was out.
Getting tired and discarding my dreams of a big breasted blondie I went on to Insomnia. 300 THB entry, one free drink. The club was full, the music too loud and you had stunners everywhere. Seriously, some of them looked like they stepped out of a music video. I was walking around nodding to a few girls, getting smiles and slowly the terrible memories of Liquid started to fade away. A small cutie dancing on a podest smiled at me, I smiled back and she kept the eye contact while moving her body in various suggestive ways. I just stood there and enjoyed the show. Well, that's it for my first club / freelancer experience. I can't help but thinking I did many beginner mistakes and would be happy for any criticism. Should I have gone with the price? Should I have retreated sooner? Next week I will try Climax and for sure go back to Insomnia.

I spent 3 nights in Bangkok last week. Nice city with a lots of options for girls.

on prices: i can't remember when go go girls asked for less than 1500bt to 2000bt for st.i can. in 2008 go go girls were asking for 1000 baht for st. 2000 for lt. of course, this was around the same time when the yellow shirts closed down the airport. but all of 2008 and some of 2009 i was able to get girls for 1000 st from the go-gos on cowboy. however sometime in 2009 they must have had a big meeting and collectively decided that 2000 baht st was the new price and only in complete desperation was the price to go lower.

Here is my opionion on the scene here:
First the go go bars are purely for moneyed tourists and I consider them now to be a complete ripoff.
Things started changing for the worse about 5 years ago.
The girls have gotten more greedy and mercenery. Prices for drinks (150-200 baht) are comparable to the West.
I do not see why anybody should or would buy a "ladydrink" especially now that they are so expensive. If a girl is going to force you to buy a ladydrink so she sits with you then how do you think her attitude will be in bed? It is like throwing your money away. The whole go-go scene is now set up to getting as much money for drinks out of customers possible instead of providing an enjoyable atmosphere where the customer would want to buy drinks and be there.
There are far better options available for fun but it seems all the newbies gravitate to the gogos because of their reputation. Which should in my opinion be declining.
I would say prices for everything in the gogos (drinks, barfines, ST, LT rates) have doubled in the last 10 years.
And Long time is now NOT the normal.
On the other hand, the massage parlor scene is where it is at. You get a set amount of time 90min-2 hours, can size the girl up and talk to her beforehand in the light without loud music, and best of all. No buying of overpriced drinks necessary!
That are a few dozen places to choose from around Bangkok and the prices and quality varies. But I will say that you can find some nice 20 year old hotties in the massage parlors. By contrast. ST service in Baccara and Rainbow Bars is now 2000bt. It has been this way since at least 2010. The barfine is 900bt in Baccara and 600bt in Rainbow. IMHO, these Go Go's have the best looking Go Go girls in BKK. Honestly, I think most of the girls are subpar, but I always find at least 2 or 3 girls per bar / per night that measure up and that I find attractive. When I am in Macau I pay 2100hk in the high end saunas for ST model quality Chinese girls and I have a great time. And in Bangkok when I frequent the Go Go's I spend 2000bt + 600 (900bt) barfine and have a great time. By the way, in the high end Soapies the prices for the really pretty girls start at 2600bt and go to over 6000bt for ST. Good thing I normally find the mid level girls the sexiest.
I know there are less expensive places to go and there is always haggling price or settling for less attractive girls. And there are always anomalies in the market place like finding a really sexy FL for 1000bt LT in the Nana parking lot. BKK is a big city. To each his own.

Here is my opionion on the scene here:
First the go go bars are purely for moneyed tourists and I consider them now to be a complete ripoff.
Things started changing for the worse about 5 years ago.
The girls have gotten more greedy and mercenery. Prices for drinks (150-200 baht) are comparable to the West.
I do not see why anybody should or would buy a "ladydrink" especially now that they are so expensive. If a girl is going to force you to buy a ladydrink so she sits with you then how do you think her attitude will be in bed? It is like throwing your money away. The whole go-go scene is now set up to getting as much money for drinks out of customers possible instead of providing an enjoyable atmosphere where the customer would want to buy drinks and be there.
There are far better options available for fun but it seems all the newbies gravitate to the gogos because of their reputation. Which should in my opinion be declining.
I would say prices for everything in the gogos (drinks, barfines, ST, LT rates) have doubled in the last 10 years.
And Long time is now NOT the normal.
On the other hand, the massage parlor scene is where it is at. You get a set amount of time 90min-2 hours, can size the girl up and talk to her beforehand in the light without loud music, and best of all. No buying of overpriced drinks necessary!
That are a few dozen places to choose from around Bangkok and the prices and quality varies. But I will say that you can find some nice 20 year old hotties in the massage parlors. By contrast. i can. in 2008 go go girls were asking for 1000 baht for st. 2000 for lt. of course, this was around the same time when the yellow shirts closed down the airport. but all of 2008 and some of 2009 i was able to get girls for 1000 st from the go-gos on cowboy. however sometime in 2009 they must have had a big meeting and collectively decided that 2000 baht st was the new price and only in complete desperation was the price to go lower.

i've posted these numbers before, but i think they deserve mentioning again: st 2000 + barfine 600 + drinks 300 (minimum) + st hotel 300 = 3200 baht (a bit over $100). really not worth it for 30-40 minutes of fucking. to put it in perspective, at an oily such as mango you'll pay massage 800 + sex 1500 = 2300 baht and you get to fuck the girl as many times as you want, and she will usually have a better attitude.
