Unless there is a levy on "better off" people, it is impossible to have universal healthcare. None of the private insurance companies will "solidarize" their income to help the poor and the "bad" risks will not find insurance for any reasonable price.
Wait until you get a heart condition or a chronic disease and see how fast your insurance company either drops you or increases your rates. See, if you can then still laud the benefits of the free market.

The issue is how to provide the best health care outcomes we can with minimal cost to a large population. Most of the developed world uses a blend of public and private to deliver this care. A blending of these two elements seems to give the best outcomes and tends to be more cost efficient for all involved. Of course commons sense and statistics will tell you this. The US has poorer outcomes and a lower lifespan than most countries with fully developed public systems. One of the reasons is that most public systems stress primary care and prevention as one way to take the burden off the system. In the US this is not seen as people put off going to the Dr until they are VERY ill due to costs. Also a marketing costs and profits are not seen with the admin end of a public system either. In the US Medicare's admin costs are 15, well below that of private insurance companies. The more you spend on admin costs, the less you see going towards patient care.
This is not a matter of "free market" vs "commie (the term in 2012 still makes me laugh)," it is about outcomes and cost and looking at systems in developed countries around the world, the US comes in at the bottom of the list. It is time to look at see what works and emulate it, not try to force in a system based on some silly dogma.

See many Americans put off health care because they take this attitude that it is a free world and its my body! Don't want anyone or the country to tell them what to do! My older brother was such a person today he lays in a military long term hospital with throat and lung cancer waiting to die given up! Two years ago his doctor at the Veterans hospital suggested he go and have a check and it was free all he had to do was go in the next room and if he had done that things would certainly be different instead he said why " fix something that isn't broken ". I had a business meeting recently and the person I was meeting insisted on meeting at Spanky's in Nana (odd place to try and discuss business I know but that's what they wanted). i don't want you or anyone to loose their freedom, but the issue of socialism and healthcare personally is being sold to scare people. if they were to socialize water, electricity, gas, food so that everyone would be able to afford it would you feel you have lost their freedom? i in no way agree that the current pass healthcare by obama is perfect, in fact i believe he screwed it all up! but the way our system is going now and the rising cost put it out of reach for millions and will eventually put it out of reach for you!

It's 4 AM and my ride to Chicago O'Hare Airport is arriving in exactly 1 hour. You know where I'm going otherwise I wouldn't be writing this. This will be my 4th trip to Thailand marking this airport taxi as a ride I surely would not want to miss. I have all the essentials of a 2-week millionaire dispersed across my bed with an empty suitcase in the middle soon to be filled with said essentials. Packing my suitcase is the last remaining obstacle between me and another episode of LOS. My process becomes interrupted though when I feel a lump in the front pocket of my suitcase as I pick it up to load it. Curious I stick my hand in the offending pocket to see what it is. I haven't touched this suitcase since I unpacked it from my last trip to Thailand 7 months ago. I reach in and pull out two objects and study them. I never use the front pockets of my suitcase and I don't smoke so why was it that I had in my hand a half full pack of cigarettes and a pink lighter. The pack was silver and green in color and was a bit wrinkled and compressed. It had Thai script written across the front and down the sides. The pink lighter was. Well. It was pink. I pull out one of the cigarettes and smell it. More so as a memory jogger than for any other reason. Muted tones of menthol. It had the intended effect. It was mental chloroform as my memory laid down a path to the only possible explanation. It was about 7 months ago.
Her name was 'Lek. ' She table danced at Mandarin in Nana. She was #xx. I typically can never recall both the name and badge number of a girl but I remember both for Lek quite clearly for reasons I'm about to disclose. I had just landed in Bangkok and decided to go to Mandarin in Nana because it's always what I do first when arriving to Thailand. Perversely high heels with sliver ribbon straps that criss crossed up the calf and then tied right below the front of the knee. With a petite and tight body, Lek wore this uniform as she slow-motion swiveled her hips. She held on tightly to her pole with her arms extended, keeping her extremely high heels near the base of the pole, as she moved her hips in rhythmic, geometrically sound, concentric circles. Moving slowly towards the ground and then back up again. She kept the same pace and pattern no matter the music. Slow or fast, techno or mellow; she always sensually spiraled at the same rhythm while making half song revolutions around the pole. She paid attention to no-one. Not the other girls, not the music, not even the customers it seemed. She had to do it out in hall, blowing the smoke out of an emergency exit door, as my room was non smoking. After the drinking and smoking were done we checked off the last item. She performed exactly as she danced. Before she left I gave her the remaining whiskey as a tip and as a thank you. Not so much for the service but for not taking advantage of the 2nd of my 2 mistakes that night. I had allowed her to mix my whiskey and soda unsupervised. I thanked her for not drugging and robbing me.
The next day was quite uneventful. A double soapy, a short time, and then the rest of the afternoon catching up with past acquaintances at Big Dogs. My intention was not to barfine Lek again but there I was that evening at the Mandarin with Lek curled up in my lap as quietly sexy as could be. The Thai man gave me a thumbs up as he finished up his conversation with Som. I assumed it was Som's Thai boyfriend and I asked her as such. Turns out the guy was actually her father! They used to work at the same go-go where he was the DJ and she was a dancer. A featured dancer at that. He would occasionally buy her drinks and watch her go off with customers nightly. They now work at separate gogo clubs but they often see each other in passing in Nana. He would often drink with her and her customers when they run in to each other but he had to go and was unable to join us. Even Lek had to take a minute to process that one.
Good thing I had two girls though. First reason being that Som was nearly lights out drunk by the time we go back to the hotel after hitting up a few bars. Lek came in handy when it came to assisting Som back to the Dynasty Grand. Lek was also a bit motherly (her being 26 to Som's 19) when it came to making sure that Som was ok and would provide the proper professional customer service that was expected of them both. It turns out that Som had been to this hotel before. Last time she was here she was paid 10, 000 baht as the customer professionally filmed their encounter for website purposes. This piece of information caught Lek a bit off guard for some reason. Like she was finally getting the know the girl she'd been dancing next to for months at Mandarin.
Lek and Som both wanted to smoke so out came the same silver and green pack of cigarettes and pink lighter. Rather than smoke out in the hallway as Lek did before they opted to smoke out of the open windows in my hotel room. While leaning out the window, Som noticed a naked Thai girl in the bedroom window across the way. The naked girl sat on the edge of the hotel bed in her room and brushed her hair while watching television. All 3 of us watching as a customer entered into view, standing in front of the girl wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist. Before I knew it the towel had dropped and the Thai girl in the window on the edge of the bed started to do some "smoking" of her own. Time for me to exit left. I retired back to the bed as Lek and Som stayed at the window and enjoyed the command performance going on across the way. I was actually enjoying my view as well. Each girl in my room was on her tiptoes leering out the window. They were both wearing the shortest shorts this side of the Mekong. It was a close competition to see whose shorts were shorter. An intense rivalry. Lek's blue denim shorts vs. Som's black denim shorts. It was Red Sox vs. Yankees, Brazil vs. Argentina, All Blacks vs. Wallabies. I was the obvious winner. I sat back and surveyed the scene as if casually contemplating a Monet and a Manet in the Louvre. Two disparate words that I never would have paired together came to mind;"butt, cleavage."
Being that Som was apparently an internet sensation, her and Lek switched positions so to speak. Som became the mentor as Lek had never been with another girl before. No one at a time while the other waited in the bathroom on this one. Som directed while Lek listened and dove in head first. Eventually Som went from director to doing some heavy lifting as well as she posed us and constructed scenes that we played out through the night. Som was still a bit tipsy so she reverted to only speaking Thai while Lek translated her directions and such. When it came to describing Som two more disparate words came to mind that I never would have paired together before this moment;"sexual, prodigy."
It was a short time so the moment came when I held up my end of the bargain with some baht for services rendered plus tip. As a final farewell I watched those two walk down the hall to the elevators. I just couldn't resist. Had I been paying more attention to their possessions rather than their assets I would have noticed that Lek no longer had her silver and green pack of cigarettes and pink lighter.
No mobile numbers or emails were exchanged. So there were no text messages of 'I miss you. ' No emails of 'I love you' upon my eventual return home but Lek had secretly placed these two objects in the front pocket of my suitcase before leaving my room that night. The silver and green pack of cigarettes and pink lighter were her retainer. Nothing overt to keep me on Lek's hook upon my return home but I found that these objects retained my thoughts of our night together thereby retaining my thoughts of her. Playing within the bars and gogos can be like being in a candy store where the only condition is you can only keep what you can retain in your memory.

lbmvery well stated. americans pay lots of taxes and that becomes even more when you look at the outrageous health ins premiums paid. and again, private insurance because provide no health care. they simply market and profit. there is no sense in it. americans get nothing for their taxes except a bloated military and an out of control criminal justice system. want to talk about freedom then talk about rolling the clock back on the justice system to pre-rico days and releasing all non-violent drug offender, oh, and ending all foreign wars, foreign aid, and closing all overseas bases!

Obama promised his healthcare plan would not bend the cost curve. He lied. His estimate was $900 billion over 10 years. The latest estimates are $2. 6 trillion over the same period. It is also now estimated that Obama care will cost over $60 trillion over the next 50 years. In other words even if the Supreme Court does not declare the law it unconstitutional, it is still doomed.

Socialism is great in theory, however its success when it has has occured has been mostly in group-centric homogeneous cultures that keep outsiders out and limit benefits to these same parties (e. G. Number, now they were threatening collection? Finally I was able to return and I went into their office to explain my situation along with my financial in the end " Medi-Aid " will only give assistance if you have no more than $10, 000 in USA funds and no income.
To get on with things I wrote them a check. See! Guys like me pay because I have a legal address and a S. S. Number! If you don't and you care they come after you and can get at your bank account (so much for freedom and this didn't just happen because OBAMA) the government can ruin you and your credit! LBMThe USA may soon have to copy Thailand in certain regards, loosen medical malpractice tort laws (for damage suits) and allow drugs stores and other sub-licensed entities to become part of the treatment options (more drugs available etc) , as the USA health system eventually collapses under it own weight.
All countries have hybrid systems, the issue is one of percentage, both the absolute level, and the overall trend, and the case with China is a clearcut example of what can happen when you unshackle socialist restraints and move toward capitalism if only in incremental steps.
I'm well aware of the larger picture. The fact that the United States is a sinking ship now listing on its side, weighed down by an ever expanding entitlement state overlayed by a de facto open borders policy for at least three decades now, where illegals often have more benefits and handouts than citizens. The (must treat) law was cited simply to refute the nonsensical idea of someone being taken out of an ambulence, then supposedly dying outside the emergency room because short of funds, and course (as an unfunded mandate) it has huge problems, one of which is of the significant cost shifting to those of us paying private premiums, such premiums having doubled or tripled in recent years, in part to pay for such programs. National health care won't solve the problem if the USA continues an open borders and open welfare policy for all such immigrants. By the way, Obamacare if not rescinded, is perhaps only one or two federal court decisions away from illegals qualifying under its various new entitlements (since constitutionally speaking they are deemed, by mere physical presence in the USA,"persons" and thus guaranteed certain rights) so Obama was in fact "lying" just as Congressman Joe Wilson of South Carolina stated.
Every new entitlement or welfare program intented to solve a certain problem, ends up causing a 1000 new problems.

Hi all, I'm going to Thailand end of May, for two weeks, with my gf and two other couples (6 in total. All friends)

I understand there are loads of small islands surrounding coh Chang so I want to visit as many of them as possible, just looking for maximum experience out of a limited situation, I think I may have to feint argument just before holiday to gain some freedom / leverage. The best bet is you take a taxi to Sukhumvit area, get to a massage joint like Mango, Tulip etc and enjoy the full service there, do some shopping and then head back to the hotel. Instead of the cab, you may opt for the far cheaper airport express train option.

Its clear that saying these things doesn't work in the long term, even if causes some temporary abatement.
Creating the Expat Forum doesn't help much. I for one, don't look at the Expat threads, and probably many others don't too. Therefore Expats won't wish to stay in those threads, even if they wish to write on non-mongering topics. Many expats or long term members don't appear to wish to write much about actual mongering experiences. But this is what the forum is about. Top places to find hot girls. If we didn't get some reports in this mode, the forum would become next to useless. Which bars are good, which soapies have nice girls, which Oilies are pornstar, which are good for GFE, which are best freelancer spots, etc. Personally, I include plenty of actual experience reports, particularly if at a new place or tried a new girl. I suggest you go to one of the central shopping malls or Terminal 21 and pick yourself up some decent threads. It sounds like you are looking for more cheaper ladies. You have two choices. Number one you can find many ladies in Bangkok for 500-1000 baht but you will really have to sacrifice in the looks dept. If you want freebies you will have to up your game a lot. ok, so i'm back in bkk after a much too long 10 months wait, and of course i'm here to share some experiences.
