Back from Jakarta

Best girls we white men can have access to in Jakarta are probably to be found in Stadium, third floor. Hourly rate 200 thousand Rp. I have it from a reliable source that those girls are cattle. I don't think any of those girls ever gets the money because their legal position is zero anyway. I could give names of many girls for you guys to cross-check my story but I don't thing it could do any good. I suppose talking about these things to the girls as I did is as reckless as you can be as a bule already.

The thing about promised money not being paid is only about girls in the 4th floor who have a "kontrak" (contract my foot!). As far as I know 3rd floor girls do not even get a "kontrak" after they've been paid off from next-of-kin (again, how can they be so stupid as to actually feed such cute things to the sharks for a few million Rp.? TC and "external" girls

You're right about there being outside girls in TC. They usually trickle in later in the afternoon and in the evening. Report on Hotel Menteng II

This is a follow up to a report by bro Jkttroll 3-16-03 who had a successful experience with the disco "Tiga Kuda" (Three Horses) attached to this hotel. I tried the hotel itself and other amenities.

The hotel is on Jalan Cikini Raya in Menteng. It's rather isolated, no shops, cannot walk anywhere so not a good location to choose.

Price is Rp215,000 for a de luxe room which at the current exchange rate (8200) is US$26. The rooms are the same as Melawai, slightly better because they have individual aircon.

On the 5th floor is a beauty salon and massage parlor. You can select the women (I say women not girls) from a book of out of focus photos. This is a waste of time because the woman you get will bear no resemblance to the photo. Its Russian roulette actually.

Price for a one hour massage if you use the room provided by the parlor is Rp60,000 per hour. If the woman comes to your own room it is Rp45,000 per hour. If you want to have a proper massage then two hours is really necessary.

My first experience on the day shift was with Ira (No: 20) , short , thin , pretty, in her thirties. This is a follow up to the posting of xxl on 12-13-02.

About 5 weeks ago I went with a girl in Maribaya Massage on 6th Floor Hotel Melawai. Out of fairness to her I will withhold her name because I think this applies to all girls having multiple partners in Jakarta.

Millenium Sirih : a strategically located hotel.

Like most hotels, Millenium can be got at slightly reduced prices by booking at one of the discount counters in the baggage hall of the airport. Those operators won’t accept credit cards though, so it is hardly worth the trouble if, like me, you want to keep your cash for girls-related business.

Millenium is a four-star hotel, in the same league as Mercury. It was built at the same time by the same people, for the rooms are identical to Mercury’s down to the furniture! I found this a bit disappointing since one of my reasons for booking there was to try something different. Prices also in the 400-600 thousand Rp range. One good point: it boasts four elevators, unlike Mercury, which only has two (a real nuisance when the hotel is full). Breakfast buffet better than Mercury’s. Very few guests, even looked deserted. The two or three taxis (bluebirds) on standby during nighttime were always free.

Location : Millenium is situated half a mile away from JJ and Tanamour. It’s only a twelve minutes’ ride to Manga Besar (Stadium) at night (three times as long during daytime, rule of thumb in Jakarta: daytime ride = 3 x night-time ride). Five minutes’ ride to Indonesia Plaza (Citibank ATM + Hyatt Regency buffet). It lies on the axis Chinatown-Blok M, so the following applies : distance fromMillenium to Blok M = [distance between Chinatown and Blok M] - [distance between Millenium and Chinatown]. It is also very close to the Jalan Blora area.

Conclusion: good value for money if you want to avoid being confined to the Chinatown or the Blok M ghettos while staying within reach of both. The neighbourhood is OK during the day but totally dead and scary after dark.

P.S. To Bottom Line about the clap: that's right, if you get gono, you usually get chlamydia. Only chlamydia is a late onset disease compared to gono and it is far less acute, this is why it goes unnoticed until the gono has been cured. Best to treat the gono first, then take doxycycline ten days in a row to take care of the chlamydia. There is one place I wanted to mention in Jakarta, it is called the Stadium. This place is real freaky, but interesting. You won't find too many girls that speak English, but there is something there for everyone. It has multi-floors and each floor has a theme. I agree that unless you are hanging out in expensive Kota joints, or looking for speciality services, or "models," then 300K is at the high end in Jakarta. Or maybe I'm just cheap. But after the first few times, I thought, well, the girls are hard-working, provide a high level of service, and are prettier than the average Kota worker, so it's worth it. But there should be a bit of quality control happening if they want to go on charging middle/high prices.

Sure in Melawai you pay for the "bule friendly" location and a better selection than most Kota joints. I think the girls are also safer because more educated on STDs (condoms and listerine are not that common in Kota).
But 300k + tip for 45 min and 1 shot IS expensive. Especially with a rupiah at 8200. It is almost the same price as in Singapore Geyland !
This is still Indonesia with most of the people earning last than 300k...a month.

Poobah I have not visit yet the url TheWad mentioned, but I can tell you this. On jl. Gajah Mada, I always go passing Glodok and eventually turn right at the trafficlights near Kota trainstation. Pass the station at the south side and turn right again at the traffic lights to enter jl. Pangeran Jayakarta. There is an old Portuguese church there at the corner. Proceed about 300/400 meters, passing a Toyota dealer a.o. At your left hand side you will see a sign of Handayani (Spa or something like that) on a high pole. Enter the gates and go straight (±150 mt) untill you reach a small square where you can park your car. At this square is Mutiara (MTR). If you stand in front of MTR, facing the square, just around the corner at your lefthand side is LA. I know it's only a part of the complete name (that I don't remember), but that's the clearest part. That answers your question TheWad. Those two places are not the only ones over there. But, like I said before, I didn't bother to find out how the others are, since I already found what I was looking for.
By the way, they are not in a dead-end street. And Poobah, OKT is the "papasan" or "contactman" if you like. The best time to go there is about 13.00 in the afternoon. The girls are still "fresh" and if you are bule/bulai, you might feel safe.

If you are young and good looking (even if you aren't) you will have no problem finding excellent girls of any quality - it basically depends how much time you spend looking and how much you want to pay (one way or another you always pay). Just read through the messages in here and you can't go wrong. The main difference between Jakarta and anywhere else I've been is that nothing is really "in your face" - I mean a (very) naive bule (westerner) could come here and never notice what was available - but just sit in a coffee bar or hotel and eventually you will get something really good (see my posting yesterday !)

i can pride myself in being some sort of a stadium expert, so this question is for me.

the dope available in stadium (and in other discos) is mostly a mixture of amphetamines and other dodgy chemicals that go under the name of xtasy or inek.

Except from hotels with well-known night-clubs (Tiga Puluh, CJ etc.), hotel bars often have a few girls only and these are mostly hotel bar specialists, i.e. girls preying on customers who just flew in and don't know the local rates yet.

Good luck with your visit, you will probably get several different answers to your "where to go on saturday night" question. It depends on what you want of course, if you want a nice "girl friend experience" with an excellent looking girl who you want to have a few drinks with, maybe dinner and then back to your hotel and spend the night with her etc you could go to one of the bars in the up market hotels (CJ's at Mulia, 30 at Meridien etc - there are lots of risk-free places mentioned in reports) and you will certainly find an "amateur" from 9pm onwards. By "amateur" I mean a girl who probably has an OK job in a big mall and is looking to have a good time and make some money on the side - to her you will be a millionaire - she may be earning $100 a month if she's doing well. If you give her half that in one night that's pretty good for her and you won't be dissapointed. You will need to put some effort into finding a girl like this - maybe try a few places before jumping at the first opportunity. But on a saturday night you will certainly find one. Hard Rock is another option I would put in this category. You can of course find the same girls during the day in the malls where they work but this is much more time consuming and I guess you won't have time for that.

Alternatively you could go to what are really glorified brothels and get a girl in there (loads mentioned in here - eg Tiara C, Stadium etc) or even meet one in there and take her out to your hotel. Contrary to what some have reported, there is no problem taking one out and keeping her all night. I've done so a few times if I wanted a quick result but its expensive (Rp 700k plus) and if you are new to Jakarta and don't speak the language this is not a good option.

Halfway between the "upmarket" hotels and the glorified brothels are Clubs like Tanamour and JJs (next door), most girls there are hookers but usually pretty good and you'll pay maybe Rp 300k for a few hours at your hotel. There are some weirdo's - watch out for banci (ladyboys) - some look fantastic especially if you've had a few drinks ! Listen carefully to their voices it's the best way to tell who/what they are (apart from the obvious way and you don't want to discover this at your hotel !) Action in these places starts much later - after 11pm till very late.

NB the advice on Taxis unless you are going anywhere other than a good hotel.

tanjung lesung's beach has been overrated, but the hotel's band was fabulous!

Having fun these few days with a local taxi driver that show me around. To PRC and office girls hostels, cost around 400-500k and tip the guy 50k for every trip.

I usually stay in top hotels because I'm not paying but from what I hear the best deal you will get is turning up at the hotel and doing a deal there at the front desk. If you go to IBIS for example (there are a few in JKT) you can get a very cheap deal and they are OK. Of course, the upside of staying in a 5* is that if they have a night club (most do) you don't have so far to take the girl(s) you meet back to your room ! If the taxi's are anything to go by I'd be suprised if you get a cheaper deal at the airport. Airport office quotes Rp250k (though will sell at half that) for a car from the airport. Even a Silver Bird waiting outside is half that again (ie Rp60k)

I was in Jakarta in 1997 for four days. Just wondered if the bizarre practice of removing the Cli**ros of females who are sold into the brothel business by their families still exists. I had read about it and experienced it whie I was there. Wicked practice of ensuring that the women won't ever enjoy sex. The reason I ask is that I see no mention of it in the Indonesia board, although I haven't read all of the posts.

I would definitely avoid these 2 places : LM and Jalan Pelatehan (Top Gun, Oscar, D's Place...etc). The security is nil and it is packed with foreigners and working girls. Definitely a prime target.

I have been to Indonesia many times when it has been 'too dangerous' to go. I was in Lombok when all the hotels were shuttered and few tourists were there. It was awesome!! I had the place to myself.

There were two times I was kind of scared. It was during the elections (right before Gus Dur came into power). There were many demonstrations from various political factions.

Traffic was snarled and I was reading a book. All of a sudden I saw a lot of faces in the window. My freakin' taxi driver was driving STRAIGHT THROUGH a demonstration! WTF!! So at a creeping 5 miles an hour we went through chanting screaming demonstrators, some banging on the car to the cadence of their political chanting. The other was when I was driving down an access road and noticed that the main highway had no traffic. There were demonstrators throwing rocks and some lighted shit (molotovs?) off the overpass on the highway... troops were approaching... I never got to see how that one played out. Last one was the eve of the elections and I was in the Menara. It was completely devoid of tourists and I sat in this large banguet hall with a sumptious buffet. There was I and one elderly chinese business man slurping soup. The sound of his eating filled the hall. From the lobby I could hear strains of the piano playing classical music. Shit, seemed like we were at the end of the world and I got the uncomfortable feeling like this was my last night on Earth!

Of course in reality I kept going to Kota, Blok M, and hosing my girl I met off AFF.

It was much worse (puss wise) when I went there during Ramadan and all the hard-liners were closing down the nighttime venues. Fuck, couldn't BUY a piece of snatch...

I will post about my experience in delta, since it has become my fav hang out.

Delta is the same group as galaxy and.. puri handayani at that messy place pangeran jayakarta.. they are HC SPA.

Standard room 100 for 2 session
Vip room 140 for 2 session
Super vip / lulur room 200 for 2 session

So.. that means "avoid" standard, as vip is the best value for money.

Inside the lulur room, the girls HAD TO undress at the end of the session to bath you, so hanky panky is sure fire.

I didn't know the practice went on in Indonesia or anywhere else in Asia, for that matter.

It goes on in some parts of Africa, like Togo, Burkina Faso, Soudan, Erhytrea.

I think the West has got it totally wrong regarding the purpose of this practice. I had a girlfriend from Burkina Faso who was mutilated at birth. In fact, the overwhelming majority of girls in Chinatown places are Indonesian girls. Paradoxically, Bintang Mewar, where some Chinese girls are to be found, is actually one of the few places in the area of which the manager is a Javanese and not a Chinese. Just got back from 10 days in Indonesia. Not much to report because I hooked up with 2 non-working girls the first 8 days. Sorry about ripping on the ex-pats there in Jakarta. I guess I only really tried to meet about 5 or 6 guys thinking they would be cool and good sources of info. Until several months ago, the girls used to be strung out all the way to the junction Mangga Besar-Hayam Wuruk (as far down as Mercury Hotel). Now they stay much further downtown in the strip opposite Gajah Mada Plaza (where the big Millenium disco is). Over the past week or two, I've visited a few of the Kota bordellos and bars. I lacked Khao Rap's dedication to systematic research for the sake of it, so I decided to stick to places that have received the best review on this site. In particular, I checked out Tiara Ceria, Kartika, and Berlian. None of these places are new to readers, but I thought I'd share my thoughts.

If you've never been to Tiara Ceria before, it can be a little tricky to find. First, get yourself to Lokasari Plaza on Jl Mangga Besar. Any taxi driver knows where that is. Go to the main shopping center at the back, and then go to your left, without going inside. If you look very closely, you can see a small, faded sign with an arrow pointing to your right saying 'Today's Country'. You'll know you are on the right track when you see the little warungs filled with schoolgirls on the ground floor. There is an old, wheezing lift that will take you up to the second floor, where TCs is located. Don't get it mixed up with the Executive Club on the sixth floor, although there's probably action up there, too. You can also walk up the ramps of the parking lot. It's hot and smelly, but probably safer than the lift. The security guys will help you if you get lost.

Frankly, I didn't like TCs. Most of the girls there were definitely too young to be sticking cigarettes in their mouth, let alone anything else. You could probably find someone approaching eighteen if you looked hard enough, but the average seemed quite a lot younger. Gorgeous, sure, but way too young. As you walk in, it's just a little bit brighter than I would recommend for a brothel, with too much neon light. Also, the flashing colored lights add to the cheap bordello affect. The girls are not, on the whole, that young or pretty - most, I would say, are reaching the final five years of their professional working lives, at around thirty or so. However, they are extremely hard-working and willing to please, much more than the spoiled sirens of the Maribaya Bar. You can tell them exactly what you want them to do, how fast, how hard, and for how long. I'll give that place a miss in future, and head straight to Berlian.

A few words on STDs in Jakarta brothels: This thing about "Avoid No. 9, she's got the clap" is total crap, in my humble opinion. ANY girl in ANY establishment could have, and someone who didn't yesterday could today. So be wary of people (Hi, JAD!) who try to scare you away from the venerable Maribaya Bar at Melawai because a friend of a cousin of a monger got a case of the clap when he stuck it in somewhere unwrapped. In response to Menteng’s comment I would say that if you look through this column you can find reports on some good places including some of those reported on by Menteng in previous reports.

My own view is that the best experiences are had by finding “amateurs” in malls and clubs but this can take time. I means hours not days ! For those interested in massage parlours I would just mention a couple of places which I’ve not seen reports on. An excellent massage can be had, perhaps surprisingly, in the “health centre” in Hotel Indonesia which is open up to about 2 am. I think there have been quite a few references in this column to good places to find what I regard as amateurs but in summary I would suggest that in the day time Plaza Indonesia, Plaza Senayan and Pasar Raya in Blok M are probably best - try coffee shops and cafes from lunchtime onwards. If your not familiar with Indonesia you need to be aware that even girls who are on the look-out do not tend to make it obvious. You might just get a smile which you can follow up with a "hello" and then you will know where you stand from them on. Also shop assistants themselves especially in the make-up & perfume sales depts make willing "girl friends".

In the evening/night McDonalds at Sarinah near Hard Rock Cafe is a very good place - same technique. Then as far as clubs are concerned - well - there are endless options. If you spent a day and an evening visiting just the places above - which are probably 1% of the total you simply could not fail to find a good "amateur". Thanks for bringing this rule to my notice, which I will follow. This could have been put in a much more better manner rather than using language which is intimidating. I guess all of us here are to get to know about fun and in case someone breaks rules, it could be put up in a manner in which appropriate words are used.But if the violation is repeated time and again, even after bring it to one's notice, then the tone of your note would have been appropriate. But using words such as what you have, I believe in my opinion, is inappropriate.

I guess I inadvertently missed on this rule of the posting guideline. In that case most pix that have been posted here by me will not fall within the ambit of that rule, even if it is my pix. I will have to remove them which I would., since my intention is not to violate the rules or guidelines.

I understand that some of my reports are depressing but what I am trying to do in the spirit of this Forum is to make a Guide which means I have to try everything whether good and bad and report accurately the locations, names, prices, opening times etc. Readers should be able to rely on my reports and presumably avoid the bad places.

I will leave the selective reporting on the good places to others. By the way I do wish that when people find new places they would at least make an accurate note of the name and location. This is very necessary in Jakarta.

Ramadan

Ramadan in Indonesia varies slightly from year to year, something to do with lunar phases, I think. Usually, mid-October to mid-November is the period to avoid, but better check it up each year. Ramadan is not only a time of prohibitions, early closing times etc.. It is also a kind of yearly vacation, with many of the working girls out visiting their folks in the country. Even if nightspots were allowed to operate freely over Ramadan, many would still not be able to do so because half the girls would be away.

Ramadan may have a silver lining though if you're in search of a week-long GFE. Many of the working girls, e.g. Mirabaya girls, are desperate to find a monger with whom to go somewhere nice rather than stay behind in Jakarta where business is dead.

Otherwise Ramadan is of course a time to avoid, especially for a first trip where you want to experience all that the place has to offer. Late January, February and March can be akward in Jakarta because of chronic flooding at that time of the year.

If you want to jump on the bandwagon this year try booking over Xmas and New Year. Might be difficult finding a seat though. I booked mine six months ago.

A friendly comment - Ramadan is not "nonsense" and a Muslim would hit you over the head if he hears you saying so, so please don't let anyone hear you say that (no, I'm not a Muslim).

Ramadan is the 30-day period when Muslims fast from sun-up to sun-down, which means no food, no liquids (not even water) and no sex during those daylight hours. One can have sex during the night but one first must cleanse oneself thoroughly, and even devoted married couples will limit their sexual activity during the month. Most SWs curtail their activities during that 30-day period, partially because many people stay up all night and are out walking around all night (then they sleep most of the day time, which sort-of defeats the whole point of the fast). "XXL" in his post below is correct in pointing out that many working girls take vacation during this time.

All of the above factors clearly limit a monger's opportunities - yes, there will still be some opportunities, but not as many as normal. If you do travel to a Muslim country during Ramadan, your expectations regarding sex should be very low - that way you won't be disappointed.

Keep in mind that, for any non-Muslim westerner (like most WSG posters), travelling to any Muslim country during Ramadan is difficult even if you'tre not interested in getting laid, as many restaurants and other businesses are closed or partially-closed during the day. If you're there on business, you'll often find it difficult to get much accomplished.

This year Ramadan starts on October 26th and continues until the evening of November 25th, then there's several days of holidays and celebration. Because Islam follows the lunar calendar, the starting date for Ramadan is 11 days earlier each succeeding year. Thus, in 2004 the starting date will be around Oct. 15th, for 2005 it will be Oct. 4th, etc.

On the other hand, being in a Muslim country during the festivities at the end of Ramadan (this period is known as "Eid") is a great time to be there - Nov. 26th this year, around Nov. 15th in 2004, around Nov. 4th in 2005, etc. Plan your travels accordingly.

Let's not be too censorious: I remember explaining to one of the girls in Stadium 4th floor that in my opinion, Mosques should be closed during Ramadan, not discos. She didn't call me an infidel and a sinner, she laughed out loud.

Many people who make a living around night-life (girls, cabbies) understandably hate Ramadan. In Suharto's time and shortly after, night-spots were open throughout Ramadan.

All the same, Ramadan is there to stay it's up to us to plan accordingly.

Regarding new sex laws, I'm not sure it will make any difference. Prostitution has certainly never been legal in Indonesia, yet it is rampant.

I'm not particularly concerned about offending religious people. I've nothing against them, I just think religion is nonsense. If people can't accept that is just my opinion without 'hitting me over the head' then I definitely want to avoid such 'communities'!
I don't hear anyone worrying that the religious might be offending ME when they condemn my hobby and lifestyle.

prostitution falls under grey area. but, **** prostitution is illegal. i am not sure. but, some laws said 15 is the legal age to work, and some laws said 17 is the legal major age limit. pimping and operating rooms/brothel are illegal. but, city government, department of tourism, and l.e. issue licenses to bordello massage parlors. in indonesia bordello massage parlor are brothel in every sense but name. i guess so the city can tax this transaction. it seems legal on one side. but, stakeholders also collect payoffs. coordinated street line-up, pick-up joints, escort agencies don't have licenses. but, they provide payoffs. as far as i understand the laws only govern female prostitution. but, the laws don't govern male prostitution. i had an argument once with a radio who brought up this prostitution issue. they were hard headed people. in the end, i only told them to check the book. they knew they were wrong, but they still try to pull their logic arguments.

regarding this new sex laws, it is still too early. too many pro and contra. seems that the ruling party try to accomodate the islamic interests. but, once it is passed as a bill of law. then, you are in trouble if you violate them. we all know if nothing personal or political we can shakedown all most everything except [CodeWord123] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord123) and homicide/murder. but, kindly check first how many years you suppose to serve. few million rupiah will not settle the problem.
