I plan to visit Bangkok in 2 weeks and would like to explore Soi Cowboy. Can anybody recommend a nice hotel with reasonable prices. The hotel should be close to the scene, GF friendly and not demanding a joiner fee.
Hot Lover,
Read the hotel thread. There's a lot of options and tastes may vary. Even hotels near Nana are close enough to Soi Cowboy, so don't rule those out. There are nicer rooms around than the Nana hotel, but it does have it's following.
Have fun.

Hi all,
I'm thinking of staying in the Nana Hotel near the Nana Plaza Entertainment Center in early October.
Is this hotel a reasonable choice?I have been a regular at Na2 hotel for past 20 years. I would not change hotel unless I travel with my wife. Nana rooms are clean albeit ancient (but has the advantage of continuous electric power and kept cool all the time), facilities are sufficient (swimming pool, reasonable laundry rate, good included breakfast, security at lift, no joiner fees, a free drink voucher that is handy after NEP is closed) and above all unbeatable location.
My usual circuit whenever I stay at Nana is: walk to Soi 7 food stalls for dinner, pop over to Biergarten to check whether some pretty ones are available (normally not; need not buy a drink, just walk around the bar), take a taxi to Soi Cowboy (TB40-50), drop by 4-5 bars in S Cowboi, walk to Thermae coffee shop by about 10pm (there ought to be at least 50 girls and the quality is better than BG), walk to NEP and hit 3-4 bars. If by this time I have not chosen any take out from the bars I will be stoned enough to take 1 or 2 of the innumerable SW hanging around Na2 hotel at about 1 a.m. Failing to choose any of the above one can still check out the old hotel behind Na2 for CIS goodies at 2500TB inc room.
Repeating the above circuit is not precluded if one has the belief that the next bar will yield something more tangible.
Thanks Vnmonger for the tips.

Vnmonger,
Interesting circuit. I usually like to stay at the Dynasty Inn, Grande. It still has a "new" feel to it. I would prefer staying at the Four/Five Stars, but I hate walking through the large lobbies with girl in tow. Too many families/couples around for my liking. I sometimes mix it up, with the Dynasty Inn and a Four/Five star for a portion of the trip.
My day usually starts with a massage (Foot, Oil w/hj or both) in the mornings. Afternoons are at the pool bars (Hillary, Gullivers although it's actually better at night), Pickup bars like the Beer Garden, Shopping (Emporium, MBK, Chatuchuk, Panthip, etc.), and the occasional stop into China Town or Edens. The late afternoons/early evenings are spent at a Soapie (Poseidon, Caesars, etc.), Oil Massage with FS like Angels, or a theme massage place like Akane or Sazanka.
In the evenings, I hit the Bars (Nana, Soi Cowboy, Bamboo, etc.) or hit the Clubs (Hyatt, Conrad, etc.) and mix in the occasional visit to the high end bars/G-Clubs (Pent Executive, Pegasus, Champagne room, Soi 33 etc.). If I still have the energy, my late night (actually early morning) haunts are the Nana area, Sabai Sabai 24 hour massage, Siam Hotel coffee shop, etc.
There's a lot of places I'm leaving out, but that's the general idea.

Freshc,
depends on what you are looking.
A friend of mine once stayed there and I personally don't like it. It's really prime location but rooms are worn down, not as clean as I demand a hotel room to be and I don't like the overall atmosphere. Can't say much about facilities as I haven't seen any.

Don't you believe in sex before dinner?
Some of us start our circut in the morning. :-)
I need a hotel that offers extra towels and shower caps so that it is not obvious to the girl that other girl has already been to the room. :-)
Last years stayed 30 days in Grand Presidents in Dec, Booked for 2066 a night. Baht was at 41 to USD. By the time I paid it was 35.XX. Beers at Soi Cowboys were 100-120 baht. If there still the same almost 4 bucks a beer!
or by next Dec it will be 30 to usd at the rate its dropping.
Tried to book GP again and they have raised prices which I expect, But arent they allready getting a 17 percent increase Just based on the Baht!
98' paid 60-80 baht a beer and 45 baht to usd. I expect prices to rise as has salaries.
But still 17 percent in 8 months, and still they're raising prices at all venues.
Should we unionize!
By the way. I dont care what it costs I'm still coming!
Opinions please. Even and especially yours Giotto!! (Slumlord)
off subject.
I would still like the president suite turned into a huge Jacuzzi, Giottos Grotto!
Would have a "Roman style" for private parties (orgies) as a monthly event like the pool parties. Shutdown to general public and let the good times roll!!

RikusaRikusa,
I think the hotels were rising the prices a bit during the past few years, but in the moment the occupancy here in Bangkok is so low, the competition so high, that there is no real option to increase prices. We have to wait until the political situation stabilizes, and the tourists return in higher numbers.
Our guests here at Livingstone's pay in THB, so we do not benefit from the appreciation of the THB of the last year. I don't know whether other hotels really charge in USD, I encountered that last time during the Asian crisis 10 years ago :) .
Beer: The last major price hike is also a year ago, when the gogo's in Nana and Cowboy started to charge THB 120 for a beer (Heineken). I don't see that the bars have any option in the moment to increase drinks prices, same reason as mentioned above. Many bars offer specials, happy hour etc. etc. .
Giotto's Grotto: Let me think about it. It does not really fit in our concept in the moment.

RikusaTo Rikusa,
I do agree the price of hotel have sky rocket in Bangkok and area like Sukhumvit around Nana area is up the most , I like to travel in Bangkok every 6 month from US and I go to china every 3 month or so and with the weak USD I just skip Bangkok and just go to Pattaya only .
I think over all the whole asia enconomy get better after the asia crisis and the good old day is in the past but asia is still a bargin just good to see people here have a better living conditions .

Last year I stay in Waraburi Sukhumvit, which is along the soi where NEP located. About 15mins walk from NEP and a lot of taxi driver do not know the place. Anyway it is not girl-friendly as they charge me 300bht if I am not wrong. But the plus point is that it is near to Nana hotel whereby you can pick up girls late night easily. Room charge is about 20-30 USD. fyi, one of the receptionists is quite pretty. :)
Btw, I am planning a trip this coming Oct. Did anyone ever stay in this hotel called Residence Rajtaevee? Any comment on this hotel? I like hotel with in-room safe so that I can keep my things there.

Mufans,
There's a hotel that's closer, called the Dynasty Inn right on Soi 4. It's about a 2-3 minute walk to Nana Plaza and the price is 1,280 baht per night. You may want to check it out the next time you are in BKK. I have not stayed there, so I can't vouch for the rooms. It was renovated within the last year, so it can't be all bad. Maybe some other member can voice their actual experiences, if they have stayed there within the last 6 months or so.
I like the hotels in the 2,000 to 8,000 baht range (I know it's a big range .. just hate the walk of shame in the higher profile hotels! LOL!), so I don't think I will actually spend time there.

Hi all,
I'm thinking of staying in the Nana Hotel near the Nana Plaza Entertainment Center in early October.
Is this hotel a reasonable choice?I stayed there for a couple of nights last year in August, very busy place and full of working girls. The rooms are decent enough and it was safe enough, the disco is a target rich enviroment, you feel like a stunning chick at a western night club, the car park always has a selection of all sorts of talent and you can walk to anywhere and go crazy.
The coffee shop is good for meals at a good price and the breakfast is very good.
But I will say it did my head in, unless you want to shagg yorself crazy more than a couple of nights is too much, its so full on. I moved to the another 4 star hotel for my last 3 nights just to recover.
If you havent stayed at the Nana its a must do thst for sure, and its always hard to get a room.
Good luck.

Many years ago I used to stay ina hotel where the room maids were openly into giving BJ`s No sex. Only used to pay about 100 Baht. Unfortunetely it is now under new management and is not the same. Anybody know of other similar hotels?

Have stayed at both establishments. I stayed at Woraburi in January 07. Ok place, some feel it is a bit of a walk from the action but I found it ok, a few little places to hang out late at that end of the soi. Only stayed 3 nights and had 3 different girls and not once was charged a few. Mind you I booked for a double online and the price difference was really minimal.
Have stayed at Nana about 5 times. You have to do it, it is so in your face but I also only stay a couple of nights and then move. It is just way too convenient. Easy access to girls 24/7.
I now stay in a smaller guesthouse style accomodation in a small sub soi off soi4 opposite the raja hotel carpark (if that makes sense). It is called the white orchid inn from memory (there are a number of white orchid properties in this area)
I normally travel twice a year at least to BKK and have booked a couple of nights at a hotel prior to my arrival and then in the next day found somewhere better.

Heading to BKK with a coworker that is not into some of the finer things in life. What would be a good hotel close enough to Nana so I can head over when when I have some time, but not a hotel where it would be an issue? Get my meaning?

What's your budget - and are you paying or is your company?
If your company is footing the bill, I highly recommend the Plaza Athenee on Wireless road. It's about a 15 minute walk or a 50 baht cab ride to Nana Plaza. And totally guest friendly when it needs to be.
A very legit 5* hotel, with room rates in the $150-190/nt range.

If you want to play it really safe, stay further up by World Central and you can choose from the Grand Hyatt, Intercontinental or the Holiday Inn. One of them should budget in ok. Up there the P4P action is not quite so apparent but you are only a very short skytrain ride down to Nana or Cowboy You can leave your room in any of those hotels and be down in the action in about 10 to 15 minutes with the skytrain.
For your non-playing co-worker you can say these are all legitimate business hotels and you are close to some of the best upscale shopping in Bangkok. It should be quite easy to sneak away by yourself.

A year or two back I stayed at the Bel Aire Princess on Sukhumvit Soi 5.
From memory it was quite family friendly, with a small and discreet amount of 'guest' activity. However, it was close to NEP. My excuse at the time was that I was going to visit Bumrungrad Hospital for a medical checkup and the hotel was within walking distance.
Can't remember the prices, but there is a web site. Rooms ok, pool, restaurant, decent breakfast, close Nana BTS and Entertainment area.

I didn't know that since I have never actually stayed there. I just know the location is good and they seem to have fairly decent rates.
I usually stay at the Grand Hyatt when I am on the company tab and there is no problem there with bringing girls back, although they will check ID's at night.

Is the Woraburi GF or not? There are conflicting reports in this thread. Also, does it have WI-FI internet?

Whilst I am not an expert I have traveled to Thailand a number of times and never ever ever paid a joiner fee, in some place3s I have booked for a double which was like 100bht extra a night and this is what I did at the woraburi from memory. Check on hotel websites for prices and go form there is my advice.
Guys,
Been to BKK for a short trip, stayed at a few budget places, went there w/o any bookings so was room hunting the moment I arrived.
Day 1 - Stayed ar World Inn THB 1650 for a triple room. Wasnt too bad, basic stuff and comfy room. Nice aircon (Sukhumvit 7)
Day 2 - Moved to the Business Inn on Sukumvit 11 behind the Grand Business Inn (Same Management actually). Got a triple room for THB 900. This was a steal. OK
rooms, basic stuff clean toilet, Good deal.
Day 3&4 - Moved to Khao San Road.. man this place rocks with Farang chicks.. as far as the eye can see. Stayed at Khaosan Palace Inn. Very Basic room with clean toilets. THB 800 for a triple room.. can't go wrong with the price.

They charged for a single occupation when you cheked in alone, were GF (strictly kept the girls ID and asked you if it is ok to return it to her), even if you kept the girl for a week, but would charge more if you checked in with someone (No, it was not the breakfast since it was not included in the roomrate).

El Mambo,
Based on reviews that I saw in the TripAdvisor website (reviews are candid and good), the recent reviews seem to indicate the renovated section is open. One review, makes it clear that the newer rooms are much better than the older rooms. The reviews also make it clear that the Dynasty Inn is not the Dynasty Grande. The "candid" photo appears to be the older room.
Bottom line, seems to be, you get what you pay for. For around 1,280 baht, it seems like good value and a great location, since it's very close to the Nana BTS station and of course the NEP. Nothing beats first hand knowledge of course, but no one has posted a response, so check out TripAdvisor.

I stayed at the Dynasty Inn for the first time sometime in March. I had a room in the new renovated wing. It cost a little more than the 1280 baht quoted on the website (I forget how much). The 1280 baht price was for the older wing.
The location is great; right next to NEP. The reception takes the ID of the girl. The room was OK. It had an in-room safe. The bed kind of sagged in the middle. The room is better than the room shown on the website (those are the older rooms). During the day the cleaning staff would hang out in their room in the hallway waiting for you to leave your room so they can go in and clean. Even in the afternoon they would still be there just hanging out or sleeping.
The older rooms are out in a seperate building in the back. You can either way through the main hotel to get there or through the alley on the side. There seemed to be ladyboys hanging out in the front of this alley at night.
AT2 and KS : Thanks you very much for yours answers. I plan to book this hotel for my next trip in September (very close to NEP and BTS Skytrain).
Thanks,
El Mambo
I have been staying at the JW Marriott for the past 2-3 years in Bangkok (I am there now). They are very girl friendly with no additional fees. They also treat the girls just like othe guests in the hotel.
They have severl great restaurants, a lot of tv channels, a swimming pool, internet access and several great restaurants.
It is a litle more expensive than some of the area hotels, but I have mostly paid between US$99-US$125.
There location is perfect, 1 block from NEP and a few more blocks from Soi Cowboy.
Hope this is helpful.

I've searched thru the thread and would like to get some feedback on the above hotel:
1) Do they allow ladies to walk in and out freely? Or would they be required to register themselves at the lobby/security desk?
2) If I walk in with a lady, will they stop us and require to register her?
Thanks.

I am in transit in a couple of months, with a 15 hour layover. Thai air is giving me a room at the airport Novotel. I know I should come into town, pick up a girl, and bring her back to the hotel airport, but I know at 11.00 PM, I am just not going to feel like it. I am off to Dubai the next morning, where my good friend Piper and Wildcat have offered me their hospitality.
Any bars around there I can go to, catch some music, and pick up some nice TG if I get the urge, or am I stuck watching CNN?

I stopped there in June, the area around is sterile. However, the hotel is not to far from end of Sukhumvit, which gives access to the skytrain, and ……….well you know that. Guess, from the Bang Na Novotel it's about 30 minutes by cab to the sky train at On Nut but at that time you could probably drive to, for example Livingstone’s in 45 minutes. Alternatively, an out call would be an option, perhaps Giotto could even assist.

When I stayed at the Plaza Athenee, I always either met my Thai GF in the lobby and walked up to my room with her, or I walked in with her, and we went straight to the elevators to my room. Security never stopped us when she was with me. She could not have gone directly to the room without me, unless I had given her a room key, because a room key is needed to activate the elevator for any floors above the common areas. I do not know if security would have hassled her if she had been on her own without me present. But they never hassled her at all when she waited for me in the lobby. I might add that she always dressed quite respectably, and would never have been taken for a pro when she was with me - but always looked like the type of lady who might well be staying at a 5 star hotel like the Plaza Athenee. Would the hotel staff have treated someone dressed like a Bar Girl that way when she was alone in the lobby? I doubt it, but I don't know for sure.
BTW, the Elevator bank is right next to the Concierge desk, and several of the Concierges knew me from helping me to arrange some other travel and restaurant arrangements. They generally smiled and greeted me and my Thai GF warmly as as we walked to the elevators. This is what is known as professional hotel service.
At no time did I need to register her, or did she need to leave ID to come with me to my room. BTW, the rooms have ample sized in-room safes for a moderate sized laptop as well as passport/wallet/tickets/keys/etc.
I would also add that I have also stayed at the J.W. Marriott, and I find that the J.W. Marriott treats the ladies in the same manner as the Plaza Athenee, and both of these hotels are of a very similar level of luxury and service and amenities. If I were looking for a 5 star hotel, these would both be among my top choices (along with the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit). The main choice between these places would be the available rates, and whether I wanted to be right smack in the midst of the action like the J.W. Marriott, or just slightly removed from it, like the Sheraton and the Plaza Athenee are.

As I know there is nothing around the airport. What you can do is to take a taxi to one of the massage parlours in Rama 9. You can watch CNN there, too :) .

As soon as he passes through passport control, she is mine.

I see, you are an experienced monger. Correct, that is by far the best and fastest option, and the selection is huge :) !

I am in transit in a couple of months, with a 15 hour layover. Thai air is giving me a room at the airport Novotel. I know I should come into town, pick up a girl, and bring her back to the hotel airport, but I know at 11.00 PM, I am just not going to feel like it. I am off to Dubai the next morning, where my good friend Piper and Wildcat have offered me their hospitality.Any bars around there I can go to, catch some music, and pick up some nice TG if I get the urge, or am I stuck watching CNN?Give Meaty a PM. He lives not far from the airport and knows some great places off the beaten track; from tucked away MP's on Bangna trad, to all night bars and clubs with hoardes of freelancers and freebies.
Sid
I stopped there in June, the area around is sterile. However, the hotel is not to far from end of Sukhumvit, which gives access to the skytrain, and ……….well you know that. Guess, from the Bang Na Novotel it's about 30 minutes by cab to the sky train at On Nut but at that time you could probably drive to, for example Livingstone’s in 45 minutes. Alternatively, an out call would be an option, perhaps Giotto could even assist.
Reading the thread on this subject it is a confirmation one really has to RTFF!!
I am going to be in a very similar situation, for 11 hrs from noon arrival till a connection leaving nearly midnight and I was wondering on the same question!
The lucky side I have is that there is an office of my company in BKK and our guy there said that "there is a lot of things to do in BKK in those 11 hrs".
So I am sure I am going to miss all the latest from CNN and also not enjoy the Thai lounge.
But if something serious is happening in the world, I am sure that I can get the updates just by RTFF! a day later.

In a past post, I recommended this hotel. If you could not stay at Livingstones. I now want to change that. Manhattan has discontinued any English tv channels and the convenient location on Soi 15 is greatly reduced because taxi's can only turn left at Sukumwit, before they could go right as well.

I am going to stay at Shangri-la too.
Does anyone knows if it is girl friendly?
Pilot Alex
I have been staying often in the Shangri.La and till let say 3 years ago everything was possible in the massage rooms HJ + FS etc even better when asking a in room massage but now when there is a first class Spa like in most other 5 star hotels have, its getting difficult or almost impossible for HJ, it just depends on the girl etc. The massage girls are a bit different now, more professional and older than before.
I have been trying for a HJ again last year in there Spa but the girl told me that she would get fired, and could not lock the door etc but I thought she was willing to do it, point is that you can not chose the girls anymore as before to take a young looker instead of old mamma.
Just try it, maybe better of with a in room massage but they don’t provide oil mass. In the room, only thai and that is with a cotton pyjama on so you can’t show off.
Yes it is or was girl friendly, have take a few inside wo problem till 2 years ago.

John EuroThank you for the info Pilot Alex.
The key to action in a 5* hotel is to get the massage delivered to your room. Warning. It's damn expensive. In the formal Spa. HJ is about the max you could expect.
From the Shang. There is a nice massage joint in the building attached that will deliver. As for room service
Others that are recommended. JW Marriott. It's a very girl friendly joint. All you have to do is call in. Look up a massage place that delivers and you are in (sort of speak). And if that doesnt do it for you. Just walk outside and you can't miss.
Intercontinental. Nice spa. Great massage. No hanky panky there Banyon tree. Excellent spa. Forget about extras
Around the corner from Patpong. There's a street filled with massage joints that cater to Japanese. Go there. And give your address to one of the ladies after a test drive massage. They will deliver too.
There are a large number of massage joints in town. Offering all sorts of services. You can't miss. Even staying at a 5*.
Anyone had any experience at Frasers on Langsuan? Is it lady friendly? I cant find it in any searches.
Hi Alex
Shangri La is a great location to stay, it’s just nearby the river but if you are looking for big action follow jdbkk555 his advice or stay on Sukhumvit road in the Sheraton or the Westin and you get all the best candy shops next door. (RTFF)
Yes I know what you are looking for. , we all love to have a in house normal massage and almost sure that no extra’s are available, it’s great having a massage and waiting to see how far the girls fingers would go, having the towel slipped away or having the tension where to pick up the sign that there is more to get from here than only the oil rub, yes it’s a great feeling and the surprise to receive a Yes when you ask for it is a big part of the game but calculate the risk for a big NO at 4 or 5* spa’s.
One of my friends his success rate on the game for a HJ in 5star spa’s is high and it’s always his challenge to get one, even for silly money. This till few month ago in the Oriental Spa, wile the girl was working on his shoulders and standing in front of his head he grabbed softly here butt with his two hands to see if she was In for something, she told him immediately that the treatment was over and out and he could leave the room, He came at the Spa reception with a red face and this wile his wife was still waiting there for here own treatment. He could not find a decent explanation for the time cut. When the massage girl came at the desk it was even more embarrassing as she was talking to the reception girl in Thai about something wherefrom he could feel it was about him, if you like to burn your fingers go ahead.
Time to do your own work now and report the results back.
Have fun
Has anyone stayed at Nasa Vegas Hotel.
Is it GF and Clean.
Thanks
I can put in a word for the Lotus Novotel on Soi 33. Fantastic location for MPs, 5 mins walk from the Phrom Prong (or what ever it is) Skyrail stop. My friends and I stayed there for 5 nights; with airfare from Hong Kong only 5,700 HKD (730 USD) on a package from 'our local airline' and that included a private car to take us from and to the new airport.
Totally GF, we even saw two "goalies" (Koreans) with the Kim Jong-il bouffant hairdos having breakfast every morning with two of the longest-legged, absolutely hottest escorts I've ever seen...obviously hired by the week. I would hazard a guess that each of them probably ran those guys more than my whole package...
Hello Fellows,
I will be visiting Bangkok for the first time the third week in October. I am interested at the Majestic Suites. I like the combination location and price.
I contacted the Majestic Suites via their webpage and they want all the money upfront to hold the room. Is this typical? They have told me it is non-refundable. That doesn't sound very smart of me to pay for the whole stay before I ever see the place. Any advice? How can I get them to hold a room for me on my Visa card but not pay until I get there, like in the US?
Thanks for any help.

Iv'e dealt with Mgmt there and they will not charge you till you are leaving even if its earlier than original reservation. They have a 48 hour cancellation policy prior to arrival. Unless something has changed! Send a note to Anand (mgr) and ask about the policy explaining your on vacation and would like to be able to roam as required. Mgmt is very helpful. Allways give advance notice.
I enjoyed staying there on 1st visits to BKK. And only stay in service apartments now. Like to have 2 rooms with 2 TV's for my guest(s)
Everich is also a good location and has reasonable rates

I will be arriving in BK around November 15, and plan to stay for approimately three weeks. I looked into the JW Marriot and their website quoted a price of 5700 Bhat ($190) with the AAA discount. Is there a way to get a better price? I am looking for a three star to five star hotel which is comparable to Hotel presidente in Costa Rica. This will be my first trip to southeast Asia. I would like the hotel to be close to ground zero, and around the action. I am a city guy who grew up in NYC, and now live in Las Vegas. I plan on continuing to read this site over the next two months getting help from you guys. Thanks for all the great info guys!

Having stayed at the Hotel Presidente in CR, I can assure you that the J.W. Marriott, or for that matter ANY Bangkok 5* hotel, will be an order of magnitude more luxurious than the Presidente. Bangkok's 5* hotels are among the finest hotel accommodations in the world. The Presidente is comparable to a 2.5 to 3* hotel in Bangkok.
If you found the Presidente in San Jose to your desired standard, I would suggest that you book the Dynasty Grande Hotel in Bangkok- it's a legitimate 3 to 3.5 * hotel, at least as nice as the Presidente. It will cost 2280 baht/night, or around $70. Another excellent choice would be the Majestic Grande, which would be a 3.5 to 4* place, which would cost you around 3000 baht/night, or around $90 - and this rate includes an excellent buffet breakfast. Both of these places are in the same area as the J.W. Marriott, within 3 blocks of the Nana Plaza - which is exactly where you want to be.
Personally, I prefer the Dynasty Grande to the Majestic Grande because their swimming pool is better, and it's cheaper. The Majestic Grande is across the street from the J.W. Marriott. The Dynasty Grande is 3 blocks away from these two places. In general, though, these are the two best full service, girl friendly hotels in the area that won't cost you over $150/night, which all of the 5* places will.
Nana Hotel @ 4 Nana Tai, Sukhumvit Rd
Regular Rooms {cheapest} are 1290 Baht, 10% discount for 15 days +, 20% off for 30 days, which brings the price down to about 1000/night. Deduct maybe 200 more if you partake of the free daily breakfast buffet. Another incentive to make the early meal is a very beautiful and hot thai lady who is there about 3 mornings a week.
I will vote for Grand Sukhumvit by Sofitel at Soi 6. Also about 3 minutes walking to NaNa. Price around USD 110.
The room is fantastic. I would say it's like a studio room rather than a normal hotel room.. as you will have your living hall with plasma TV, kitchen and bedroom ( with plasma TV ) as well. So basically there will be 2 plasma TV in a room.
Cheers!

In addition to dynasty and majestic, take a look and maybe try livingstone's lodge on soi 33. There is a separate thread called Giotto's Lodge and you can talk with the owner/management directly with any of your questions, etc.
It might be a place to stay for first few nights to get your feet wet and scout around....you can then move to other locations, etc.

I will add that this place is located next door to the Dynasty Grande, so it's the exact same location. But this is good new information, as I hadn't known this Sofitel, which is very new, to be lock solid girl friendly, and I also thought that the rate was more like $125 or so. It's certainly a legit 4* hotel in a great location, so the additional info that it's GF, has big, well appointed rooms, and is priced reasonably for the quality is very useful to know.
I also like the location of this hotel, If you book via http://www.ratestogo.com/Selections.asp?RoomTypeID=50995&inDate=2007-9-6&outDate=2007-9-12 a last minute booking agency, you can get a room for under $100.00 at about $92 USD.
The Davis on soi 24 has some really nice rooms for reasonable rates BUT when I took two girls back to my room they insisted on charging 1200 bath joiner and wouldn't budge. Since I was honry as hell I paid.
This is the first time that that happened to me in 25+ trips to BKK. Of course I checked out first thing the following morning instead of staying 5 more days as booked.

Just discovered this one. First ever I see a site advertising no joiner fees. Times are changing...

It reads: No Joiner Fees! However guest must show ID at reception.

they are the same company as Sawasdee (the parent company I think is waraburi.)
no fees there either

I stayed at the Davis in March for several nights because my long-standing favorite, the President Solitaire, didn't have a Platinum Suite available. I took back four Eden ladies one of those nights and the reception staff just waved at us. I've stayed at the Davis on several occasions - my TG likes it - and there's never been a problem with extra guests (sometimes her sister or a friend stayed over as well if we were going somewhere early the next morning. It wasn't P4P, but the hotel didn't know that.)
It may depend on what rate you were paying and whether you'd booked a double room. At some hotels the heavily discounted Internet rates are based on single occupancy and a joiner fee is charged if you bring back guests. Also, it could depend on the type of room you have.
Th Davis is owned by Chuwitt, the massage tycoon. It's always been guest friendly, you may have run into some bad luck.

Hello buddies,
I been reading this thread for sometime now, I m visiting Bangkok around mid sept and would like to get some help from fellow mongers on some high end places for mongering including FL and massage parlors and clubs where you can go with out membership . Can also help me if any of the clubs or message parlours have got Russians or Europeans, price is not an issue.

Greetings Member #2396,
With all due respect, what does this have to do with Bangkok Hotels?
Anyway, this is EXACTLY how threads for specific topics get turned into general discussion threads, which results in my receiving a flood of emails asking me to edit the thread and redirect to it's original topic. This is extra work for me that I don't need.
In the future, please consider the topic of the thread before you post.
On behalf of your fellow Forum Members, Thank You!

Zenith is definitely not girl friendly. Depends on your budget on how much you want to spend but the higher end hotels are Sheraton Grand Sukumvit, Marriott and Westin. near nana and soi cowboy. There are many hotels and serviced apartments in the area that are more moderately priced and GF.
Someone mentioned that Grand Sukhumvit by Sofitel is GF; anybody else stayed there to verify this or have other thoughts or opinions on the Sofitel?
Someone mentioned that Grand Sukhumvit by Sofitel is GF; anybody else stayed there to verify this or have other thoughts or opinions on the Sofitel?I have not stay in Sofitel Grand Sukhumvit, but in Sofitel Central. They are not GF friendly, you have to pay extra for someone coming up to your room with or without staying overnight. Also, the security will require they leave their identity card in the reception. According to them, this is standard practice in the hotel.
I like the security system of registering, but I do not like the idea of paying even if its for a few hours. Had a long debate with them.

I always stay at the Chateau de Bangkok. Under 1000 TBT and very luxurious and GF. French owned (ACCOR).But quite a few others that say the Accor owned Hotels are not so girl friendly.
Can anyone who's stayed here give us the 411?

She had to leave her ID, but that's nothing special. I entered the hotel after 3 am and the lobby was at that time quite empty. Maybe this is why I had no problems.

Sorry to reply to my own post; I emailed the hotel and asked, and their reservations manager stated that there is NO charge for guests, they said:
"Please be informed that there is no charge for visitor who was not check-in."
I will likely stay there in early November and will report back.

Hello,
I would like to mention that I'm staying at Ascott service appartement in Sathorn.
It's really an amazing hotel. I have like a 100 sq meters flat with 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms, and a nice living room, and it's girl friendly :)
They run some kid of amex promotion, you buy a night and you get a free night.

The owners of the Majestic Suites have opened a new small hotel in the lower Suk called CitiChic. Here's the Web site: CitiChic Hotel (http://www.citichichotel.com/)
I don't know anything first-hand about this hotel, only onpassing info. It's apparently an upscale version of the Majestic Suites, as CitiChic has a roof-top swimming pool, a gym, bigger TVs and better overall decor than MS. Like the parent ship, CC is guest friendly to the max.
However, the price is also higher. At CC, the rooms cost 2,500 baht or 2,700 baht a night. That's 450 baht/night more than the best rooms at MS and over 1,000 baht more compared with the simplest rooms at MS (1,315 baht/night).
Since it is much smaller than MS and in a far quieter location, it could be the owners are aiming for mongers who want more comfortable accommodations but don't want to plunge out for a five-star hotel. The MS has a huge number of loyal customers, so it's very possible they'll fill CitiChic just with repeat guests at the MS.
Another new GF hotel that is comparable to CitiChic is Le Fenix on Soi 9, right across the street from Q Bar. Same standard and very stylish, but 2,000 baht/night. You'll save 170 baht/night with the pre-paid no cancellation rate. Only real difference is that Le Fenix has a small indoor pool instead of a roof-top pool and it's not as pronounced a mongering hotel as an MS-owned property would be. I stayed one night at Le Fenix (actually half a night as I checked out at 3.00 a.m. to catch a 6.00 a.m. flight) and can testify first-hand it is good value for money and GF. Here's the Website:

Hi,

I agree that the Ascott is a very nice hotel - especially the pool area. The only problem is that it's so far away from Sukhumvit.Yep cool stuff but even at half price it's getting expensive all taxe include it's 7800 baths per night, as you get buy & get one with amex promo it ends up at 3650 all included per night.
I think I'll change, anyone has a suggestion of a place where you can buy a descent room (if possible with wifi, because I don't like to pay 500 baths each day extra for I'net).
I know I could check hotels.com but they do not mention nice promotion. Ie: the amex one at Ascott isn't really hyped that's why I mentionned it, and ask if anyone didn't hear about some good promo these days.
September is supposed to be the low season and hotels should be reasonably free, yet, I called the conrad today because I had a voucher from last time and it's fully booked until the end of the week!

I agree that the Ascott is a very nice hotel - especially the pool area. The only problem is that it's so far away from Sukhumvit.
There are three or four properties operated by Ascott group in BKK. I recently stayed at Suwan Park View Hotel in BKK on Soi Tonson right across from chidlom, it’s an ascott property and it’s a serviced apartment not exactly a hotel. I had an excellent stay with them, the hotel is close to public transport, right near all the shopping malls (easy walk to even Pantip and MBK from here) and with a serviced apartment you get the kitchen / living room / dining table / bed and bathroom. Cost for me was about 100 USD a night which was acceptable to me considering what JW and others want much more then that per night. Even Novotel’s wanted more then this for a basic room. The breakfast meal was OK, nothing to write home about but hey it was edible. The main draw back for this location is taxi service. There are no taxi ques at the hotel; however you can walk 50 meter and pick up a taxi or ask the security guard out front to flag a taxi down while you stay inside, and it was walking distance to where I was meeting. So that is not a major issue; however the taxi and tuk tuk drivers do not really know this location even with the hotel name and map for it as it is on a strange side street. So that caused a little issue getting a taxi back to the hotel at times when I was not with my lady, but nothing major just wait for a few other taxi’s to cruise by or take the public system. The lady I was with was on the reservation so I have no idea if it is girl friendly, but my opinion is that if you are cool about it, and not dragging in a bunch of drunk BG’s at all hours and making a fuss then I think it would be fine.
As far as being away from the "action" that's not always a bad thing. If you want to change a girl three times a day, then it's a bad thing. But if you are with one or two for long stays, the full apartment type location is comfortable.
The nice thing was that it had a full kitchen, dining room table, and living room. We ended up putting all the area’s to good use, the balcony, the living room chair, office desk table, dining room table, of course the couch, even the kitchen counter got a share of action during my stay. If they only had a jacuzi or such in the room it would be heaven. It was cleaned every day and I mean cleaned, the cleaning staff picked up everything and folded items, and really really really cleaned up our mess every day, better then 90% of the hotels I’ve stayed in.

Hi all,
I will be staying at above hotel end of the month, is this hotel GFE friendly? Is there additional charges to bring girl back?
Tks,
FCThere are many Novotel in BKK so you're not precise enough... If you happen to stay at Novotel Siam, i can't see them being too picky about girls, as the disco at level -1, hold about 300 working girls :)
It used to be called CM2 but now it seems to have a new name!
Happy punting in BKK :)
I stayed at the dynasty grande 2 weeks ago, really nice hotel, really big rooms, nice staff, girl friendly, good rates.
Just down I quiet street close to the action.
Differently stay there again.

Novotel Siam Square is girl friendly, but they charge THB 1,000/- (USD 30/-) per guest that you take up to your room.

Isn't that a contradiction? Girl friendly means NOT HAVING TO PAY EXTRA.
Isn't that a contradiction? Girl friendly means NOT HAVING TO PAY EXTRA.In some countries (esp. Moslem countries such as UAE and Pakistan - where Faisal seems to have some good times), 'GF' means you can bring a girl back to your room (joiner fees are a separate issue). Non-GF Hotels are like the Soup Nazi: "No girl for you!"

Just to make sure we're all on the same page:
To be considered "guest friendly," the hotel must allow your unregistered guests to stay overnight without extra charge. Moreover, you must be able to change guests every night or even several times in the same day. Please note the abbreviation "GF" or "G/F" can mean either "guest friendly" or "girlfriend."
Lists of "guest friendly" hotels are frequently posted on the boards, but many punters misunderstand hotel regulations, local law and joiner's fees. You do not have an absolute right to bring back an unregistered guest even if you have paid for a double room. Whether an UNREGISTERED guest can stay the night with you is always at the discretion of the hotel, no matter what country you are in. Some of the misunderstanding stems from experience with U.S. motels (motor hotels), where it's standard practice to charge the same price whether one or four guests occupy the room. That practice doesn't usually apply at hotels, where the fee is almost always based on the number of people occupying the room.
Some hotels impose a "joiner's fee" if one or more unregistered guests stay overnight in your room. Depending on the hotel, the fee can range from several hundred baht to several thousand. While you can enounter joiner-fee scams, a joiner fee isn't always a rip-off. It's a policy decision by the hotel to encourage or discourage guests who are likely to bring back P4P providers to their rooms.
None of this is relevant if the girl registers with you on arrival at the hotel. Then she has a right to be there and enjoys the same privileges and benefits as any other guest. The danger is that as a registered guest, she can also charge things (meals, cigarettes, items from the gift shop) to the room and you would be responsible for paying her charges. There are only a very few hotels that won't let farang guests REGISTER with a Thai lady unless they prove they are married. The only notable which does this is the Oriental. However, many hotels charge joiner fees for UNREGISTERED guests and some won't allow UNREGISTERED guests in the room at all.
The point that some mongers have missed is that an unregistered guest doesn't have a right to stay overnight, even if the guest who invited her is paying for a double room. The decision to allow unregistered overnight guests is always at the discretion of the hotel. Difficulties occur when the hotel does have a joiner fee for unregistered guests, even when you are paying for a double room. That's the hotel's way of discouraging mongers from staying there. It's also happened that guys who have paid a heavily discounted rate for single occupancy will be charged a joiner's fee if they try to bring back an overnight guest. This is understandable. The special rate is based on one person staying in the room and the hotel expects compensation for the second person.
Just avoid those hotels that aren't guest-friendly, but don't worry too much about it. Some guys go to great lengths to try to get the hotel to commit in writing to never charging a joiner fee. That won't happen, either. Virtually all three-, four- and five-star hotels that are considered guest friendly still retain the right to charge a joiner fee, even if they never do so in practice. That's to prevent extreme cases, in which someone - not necessarily a punter - allows five or six people to sleep in a room in which two or three are registered. More guests in a room than have been paid for is an everyday problem in hotels around the globe and doesn't relate directly to P4P all the time.
One of the managers at a international Suk hotel told me that while joiner fees aren't a regular policy, they are sometimes used as a dsiciplinary measure when punters get too carried away, i.e., four or five people are staying in a room for which two are registered, or too much rowdiness late at night. So while a hotel can be guest friendly, it doesn't mean it welcomes wild partying. If you know that you'll be taking several girls back to your room each day as well as drinking heavily, you want to make sure you get a monger-friendly as well well as guest-friendly hotel. Sometimes hotels which are not worried about one unregistered guest will charge a joiner's fee if you try to bring back two or three.
Botttom line: do your research and make sure you're staying at a guest friendly hotel. Make doubly sure its monger friendly as well if you're planning on parties involving multiple ladies.

Hi guys,
Every time when I was in Bangkok I stayed at the ascot tower at the end of soi 4, thats not a bad choice for more or less 2000 /night, but I wanted to try something new next time. Really a long time ago in here the Majestic Grande (NOT the Majestic Suites) was recommended, but since some months I can not read any more. So maybe some of you fellow mongers can present a present update about price and if they are (still) girlfriendly.
Thanks in advance
Chris

I'll repeat for clarity: Outside of Thailand (especially in conservative or Moslem countries) a "non-GF" hotel means you cannot bring a girl to your room, period. (By the way, there are some hotels in BKK that don't let you bring girls to your room - maybe they should be labelled "Seriously non-GF"). ;)

Sorry, Evil, but I couldn't disagree more with the gist of your report!
We are renting a room per night. H & S regs require and make it common sense for us to register all visitors to our rooms, but it shouldn't matter if we are sheltering half the population of Soi Cowboy so long as our credit guarantees cover potential usage/losses per pro the hotel. Of course, a very few hotels in Bangkok genuinely don't want punter customers. Lets identify these and move on.
We should not be encouraging subservience to bullshit hotel rules. Coma Boy alerted us to the fact that most hotels in Bangkok will back down over these bullshit rules when confronted with the alternative of Joe Farang taking his baht elsewhere.
Sorry to reply to my own post; I emailed the hotel and asked, and their reservations manager stated that there is NO charge for guests, they said:
"Please be informed that there is no charge for visitor who was not check-in."
I will likely stay there in early November and will report back.Stayed at the Grand Sukhumvit over the weekend - definitely GF. Nice place, OK location, short walk to Nana BTS, no problems.

I found out 2 boutique hotels which I never heard previously.
Salil hotel

The key

The rates of Salil & The key are from Baht 1300 to Baht 1800 with breakfast. From the picture of their websites, it looks impressive. But you know, sometimes these photo are very deceiving.
Anyone can help me? Any review on these hotel?

I'm not sure with what you're disagreeing. I believe mongers should stay in hotels that want and encourage our business. Any hotel that charges a joiner fee doesn't want mongers staying there. The best way of "voting with your wallet" is not to book a guest-unfriendly hotel in the first place, rather than arguing with the night manager at 2.00 a.m.
Moreover, the staff and other guests - farang and non-farang - at non-GF hotels tend to rude to the girls you have with you. If a girl thinks she is going to be hassled or humilated in front of Thais, she'll often refuse to go back to the hotel.
Mongers should avoid hotels that aren't GF. Rather than trying to avoid paying the joiner's fee, avoid the hotel. There are plenty of hotels in all price ranges that don't have joiner fees.
You are mistaken about the number of people in a room, though. Renting a hotel room is actually a contract between the hotel owner and guest. The hotel has the absolute right to enforce the terms of the contract. No where, in custom, practice or law do you have a right to take back a unlimited number of unregistered guests for an overnight stay. The hotel may choose not to enforce this part of the contract, but still retains the right to do so.

Another new boutique hotel. It's the redone Vega residence:
The Key (http://www.thekeybangkok.com/?)
On the basis of the pics, facilities (full kitchen in suite, rooftop pool) location (Soi 19, right beside Robinson) and price (3,000 baht/night for a 68 square-meter suite is very good value for money), I booked it for early December before promotional pricing ends.
I have no idea whether it is guest friendly. Considering the location, it's likely to be, but I'm not sure. It's pointless to email as almost every BKK hotel will in the current climate answer in writing there is charge for overnight guests, even if in practice they never enforce it.
I still have plenty of time to cancel if it is confirmed guest-unfriendly. So does anyone know for sure?

Okay EP, for most mongers it is guest friendly but in your case it may be not. :) I went in there asking about joiner fees and they said if you bring in one girl at a time, it is okay but they will charge for the second girl if brought in at the same time. Knowing your penchance for Eden girls, you might want to clarify again before your trip.
However, the elevator is right next to the front door so you might be able get in the elevators before they notice or say anything. The rooms are pretty nice though.
Good luck.

Stayed at 2 hotels in BKK on a recent trip in Thailand... here are some reviews if any of you areconsidering these places:
Somerset Lake Point
Fast check in. I was early (noon) and everything was ready for me. They had even upgraded me.
This is a bigger place than I expected with 2 towers. Indoor and outdoor pools, both excellent. Overall the whole place and the service had a luxury feel to it.
A big plus was for the breakfast (included in rate) which was great with made to order omlettes etc.
A big minus was no free internet!
A little bit too far to walk to Suk or BTS but the hote's tuk-tuk service is good to get you up there.
I think someone else noted the smell in the lobby... not sure what that is but it is bad. Only place in the hotel I noticed it though.
It is girl friendly. Even in the welcome letter they gave me it clearly said 'your security is our concern and we recommend any overnight guests sign in (ie. leave card)' which they duly did.
Citadines 16
Newer hotel in same chain as Somerset. Thisonedoes not have the luxury feel nor does it try to. This is a small boutique style hotel, all modern furniture, clean and has free internet in all rooms. Location is right at start of soi 16 - so just 4 or 5 min walk to Asoke BTS.
Girl friendly? I did not bring anyone back here, but seemed like others had no problem doing so.
I would recommend as good value new hotel ingood location.
Both booked via latestays.com and rate was around 2000B Somerset and 1800B Citidines.

There are three or four properties operated by Ascott group in BKK. I recently stayed at Suwan Park View Hotel in BKK on Soi Tonson right across from chidlom, it’s an ascott property and it’s a serviced apartment not exactly a hotel. ...... <SNIP> The lady I was with was on the reservation so I have no idea if it is girl friendly, but my opinion is that if you are cool about it, and not dragging in a bunch of drunk BG’s at all hours and making a fuss then I think it would be fine.
This is my usual place in BKK, GF for up to at least 2 girls and getting them to leave ID at the front desk is optional - if you go to the desk they'll take it otherwise they're cool about just going straight to the room.

I'm disagreeing with your assertion that checking into a hotel binds a customer legally to a contract. And your suggestion that a hotel has an absolute right to enforce an arbitrary set of rules is simply wrong. Of course, the hotel can ask you to leave. But then you don't have to pay them for services that they failed to provide (it will very rarely come to this, of course).
Any business can present a set of rules to it's customers and require a signature for the transaction, but the business is relying on the intimidation factor with many rules (which often contradict business and consumer law). A minor case in point is a materials supplier my company uses. It has a disclaimer in it's delivery note (which has to be signed by the recipient btw) which states that said materials should be thoroughly inspected for imperfections upon receipt, and once the materials have been taken out of their wrappings and used they become the sole responsibility and ownership of the recipient, and there are no comebacks or returns. I showed the delivery 'contract' to a lawyer friend. He burst out laughing: "Haven't this company heard about consumer law?".
If a hotel incudes in it's small print a rule that male customers have to shag the owner's grandmother (totally absurd, I know, but so are several items of small print in their own ways on a check-in document) is this legally binding?
But, getting back to serious, nobody has to argue about consumer law with the night manager. If you are confronted by a hotel worker with a joiner fee request, NEVER pay cash. Ask (under theatrically obvious duress) for it to be added to your room bill. On check-out, ask for the manager and ask him to remove the offending item from your bill. In the event of a stand-off, pay by credit card then get your credit card company to reclaim the joiner fee charges. But it usually won't come to this because most hotels that charge joiner fees aren't really punter-unfriendly (if they were, they would exclude unregistered evening and overnight guests like the genuinely punter-unfriendly hotels do). They are simply after more coin from what they perceive as easy targets. And the more easy we punters make ourselves as targets, the more hotels (excluding the very small number of hotels that target punters as their customer base) will introduce joiner fees.
Okay EP, for most mongers it is guest friendly but in your case it may be not. :) I went in there asking about joiner fees and they said if you bring in one girl at a time, it is okay but they will charge for the second girl if brought in at the same time. I enjoy somerset properties, did you try them. I've gotten good rates with them for less then 30 day stays. Usually two weeks.
I will be transiting through Bangkok, and meeting up with the current gf. I have four or five hours, after a very long flight.
I have searched the site for short term hotels near the airport so that I can get some kip, and we can reestablish relationship.
Can anyone help?

NOTHING close to the airport except for the airport hotel - and it's PAENG MAK (very expensive). Closest might be 10-12 km away or so (and I don't know where for sure, so I won't try to say)

I stayed there quite few times and stopped after the construction started next door. Of late I prefer staying in lower suk., area where you save a lot on taxis ever day if your at Soi18. They are a number of decent hotels in the range of B1500 around soi3 to 7. One is ever rich inn, a new hotel, 1500 and I know it GF, as I have seen. Actually, that's a strangely difficult price point. Most places cost less, or more.
For a good full service hotel under $100/nt, I recommend either the Dynasty Grande or the Majestic Grande. IMHO, for 2300 Baht, the Dynasty Grande is tough to top for value in a place with a restaurant, pool, and fitness club.
Places like the JW Marriott, Sheraton Grande, Landmark, Westin Grande, and Plaza Athenee are all getting over $150/nt now.

Check out Livingstone's. Go over to Giotto's forum and you can find everything out you might need to know. At around $100USD I think you will get one of his better suites and you never have to worry about taking girls back there. They will be super impressed with the jacuzzi's in those rooms.

Ever Rich Inn. I stayed there about 4 weeks ago and it's girl friendly, I also booked a queen size room with no problem taking someone back. The only thing is a queen size doesn't have a window (the one I had didn't), which maybe something that bothers you but overall the hotel was good enough.
Unless your are claustrophobic, the rooms without windows are a better deal (cheaper) because there is not much difference between the rooms with windows and the ones without since there is not much of a view from this hotel other than seeing the rats in action.

Yes. I stayed there for the first time last weekend because my usual spot, Majestic Suites, was full, and I liked the accommodations just fine.
After I've reviewed the history of the thread, I've noticed that most of the discussion is on hotels/lodging in the range of $50. $150 a night. Can anyone provide some options on the lower end (20-35 and 35-50 range)? I don't want to stay in a hostel, but I'd much rather spend my money elsewhere. I really just need the basics (a clean, safe and comfortable bed and room).

I always stay at the Nana Hotel on Soi 4. They charge 1,100 baht which is within your price range. It includes breakfast, and is across street from the Nana Entertainment Plaza, so the location is great.

- Could you recommand a decent and girl friendly hotel, price < 70 usd, near Soi Cowboy or Patong?
Thanks
Patong is in Phuket no where near Bangkok.
I guess you meant Pat Pong
Soi Cowboy is better in my opinion and most forum writers' opinions.
Livingstones Lodge in Soi 33 is well located not so far from Soi Cowboy.
However other Hotels are even closer, e.g. Honey on Soi 19.

I have booked a few nights here from 11th Nov, will let you know how it goes.
But it does look very impressive for the price and a pretty good location.

A lot of Hotels have really good rates right now (wet season) around 2K Baht.
"The Key" and nearby "City Lodge" could be worth a try if no pool needed.
Proximity to Soi Cowboy is exceptional. Honey Hotel is probably even cheaper, but I haven't stayed there for years.
I believe that Hotels in this area virtually must be girl friendly or else would lose business.
I am thinking of trying the Novotel at Soi 33 with a special rate right now of around 2K Baht. I might also try Grand President or President-Park shortly as I want class at a good rate with swimming pool and wireless internet.
In mongering mode, I like Livingstones Lodge, but wouldn't dare take the GF there since I am known there now.
Dynasty Grande is always my backup Hotel with really good value although its a bit too close to Nana Plaza if not in mongering mode.

The Key has informed me the rooms are for 2 persons and a 500 baht fee for the third. I am sure their Girlfriendly, At least thats how I understand it.
Also booked for 30 days in 1 bedroom suite for 30 days at 2k starting Dec 1st

Hotel management and other customers of mine have confirmed the worst.
800 Baht joiners are now being charged even if u book a double. This is recent and hope you will sort it out. As 800 Baht for 30 days is a lot of money.
They advise that the 2nd person in the room should check in together and stay the entire period. Otherwise 800 Baht will be charged each time a guest arrives etc.
Bloody unbelievable given its close proximity to Cowboy and seeing it used to be a serviced apartment.

I've read some discouraging things on other boards about the Key. Very reliable posters have said the Key charges a 800 baht joiner fee. If you have a double room booked, register with a girl and she stays with you the whole time, then no joiner fee. Otherwise, there is. One message I got said he had argued vigorously about the policy, but the Key wouldn't budge.
That's not guest friendly. It's possible the hotel has changed its policy after the opening, because initial reports indicated it was guest friendly and no hassle to bring back girls.

The Key is obviously to be struck off the list. Although cheap right now, its obviously trying for the snob bracket. I can't see them doing so well in this location. They don't even have a pool. I have never had a problem with Hotels on this side of Sukhumwit road. so am shocked.
If in mongering mode, its hard to go past Livingstones Lodge on Soi 33. Its not even that far to walk to Soi Cowboy or a very short TukTuk ride through the back Sois.
LL has Free Wifi Internet, a great restaurant, a good pool, and comfortable rooms. Also pool tables and pretty girls to play against. I don't take my GF there though. Best she shouldn't know anything about LL.
Below is a copy of an email received today from management of The Key after enquirring as to whether bringing guests back to my room at night would be a problem.
"Greeting form The Key Bangkok Hotel.,
The Safety of our guest is prioty, We do need all visitor to regsiter at front desk, especially overnight guest. It's take less than a minutes, but it's make sure that our guest are safe.
Our Joiner Policy

if you have any future question please let me know."I was looking to book in there for 3 nights from 12th November.
Anyone know of a similarly priced (and quality) hotel or apartment very close to Soi Cowboy, that is girl friendly?
We have now had 3 seperate joiner fees mentioned from the Key, 600, 800 and a 1000, I think that the Key will have to change it's MO if it is going to be a successful business.
I was going to book there from 21st November but I have now booked Salil.

You just can't go wrong. look at Giotto's forum in the Asia area of ISG.
However, reading their email, they say :"Joiner fee will be ignore in case of....... Guest make a reservation direct to hotel with double occupency."
the way I read it, is that if you book a double occupency room, you should be OK, but you might want ask them to confirm.
At Livingstone's, you can have as many girls in your room that will fit in your oversize double Jaccuzi. And there are lots of great looking ones ON SITE !

Thanks for your report, I still believe as long as a double is booked 2 persons are allowed to stay in the room. I have sent an e-mail and asked the question and have not recieved a reply.
Sent my friend (nana lot girl) to check out the 1 bedroom and ask the same question. Will see if she understands my request!
Could I get a local to cruise by and put this to rest. I am coming for a month and just want to enjoy with no hassles!
I would stay at LL, But can't see 30 days there. Last year was at Grand Presidents on soi 11 and enjoyed it. This year they're posting no real bargains.

You need to say what you mean by a "bargain".
State your price range needed for 30 days and remember to consider added taxes that places like to charge on top of the quoted price.
I will be staying at Grand president with GF at a "bargain" rate available at the moment. But your bargain is obviously different altogether.
I'm sure that others will have extreme bargain basement stuff to recommend.
Perhaps the Nana Hotel is in that category or Swiss Park in Soi 11.
The Leela (Unico) on Soi 3 I believe is around 1000 Baht.
There are some very cheap Short-time Hotels around that can be booked for long term at a good rate but I don't have the experience myself.
Grand Business Inn on Soi 11 is O.K. but no pool.

GP last year was 58,000 baht for 30 days Royal Suite + breakfast for 2 + bts card + internet and roundtrip airport transfers. package A + I WORKED THEM for 2 breakfasts and roundtrip transfers.
The Key has not responded to questions about girl friendly and I'm booked there for 30 days @ 2000 baht all inclusive for Master Key 1 bedroom.
I have stayed all over lower suk and because I'm on Vacation prefer 2 rooms and 2 TV's based on listening and watching Thai TV with my guests. I'm an a early riser and prefer My own space while others waste the day sleeping in the next room. I'm getting older and party all night and still dont sleep 5 hours each night.
I appreciate your question, A bargain is 2000 baht a night for a room thats like an apartment and is clean. Not like a hotel room with a bed/bath and not much else for 1000-1500 baht a night!
I would like another option if any locals know of any in case The Key is jerking me around on joiner fees. An apartment would be nice on suk.
I have stayed at the Citidines on 16th and pres park, GP, manhatten, majestics (both), evergreen, asia on 8th and the best was GP last year because of location and overall friendliness of the place.
Enjoy your stay, GF in BKK (LIKE BRINGING A SANDWICH TO BBQ)
In the price range just being talked about I am a *massive* fan of the President Solitaire.
You can get the 2 room, 2 tv thing. The rooms are gorgeous, beds huge. Each has a little kitchen area etc, and it is completely guest friendly.
The pool is one of the nicer ones in BKK - the gym is just 'ok'. I think they think of themselves more as serviced apartments than a hotel.
Advertised rates on their site start at 54k a month, and you won't find many nicer places in BKK. http://www.presidentsolitaire.com/z985/promotions_04.html
I can't find any info on the forum about the Grand Millennium (Asoke Road. Soi 21)

I stayed at the Novotel Lotus on Soi 33 for a few nights on a good low season deal, which was just about 2000 per night (more now in shoulder season).
Didn't get to use the pool but was located well just outside the Restaurant.
Girl Friendly. The room was an average size. Breakfast very good but wasn't included in the deal.
The drawback was that internet use cost was quite about 500 Baht for 24 hours. This is just too expensive.
So I would have to say Livingstones Lodge with free internet is a better option.
Stayed at Dynasty Inn Grande for just one night at a slightly higher price, but has free internet and a large room (better than the Novotel room).
Pool is good too. This one is slightly more costly then Livingstone's Lodge but competitive. I missed the breakfast due to late rising unfortunately.
Girl Friendly
Now I am trying Grand president at 2199 Baht per night in Tower 3 including breakfast for 2, but breakfast not as good as Novotel as less variety.
Room is not that big but does include a small kitchenette. Pool in tower 2 is located at the Gym but doesn't seem to have a bar attached to it (not the best setup). At least Internet is free with my package here.
Girl Friendly.
Why am I staying at so many places? Its to do with juggling mongering activities with having a GF. Can't afford to do both at the same Hotel.
So my preferences would be:
1. Livingstones Lodge (soi 33)
Best Facilities at a reasonable price and has that Island feel about it
2. Dynasty Inn Grande (soi 8)
3. Grande President Opal Suites (Soi 11)
4. Novotel (Soi 33)
All were girl friendly.
I will probably go to Baiyoke Sky (in Pratunam) with the GF next and I have stayed there before.
Now is there some other place on Sukhumwit that I should consider in the same price bracket or cheaper that can compete with options I have mentioned? I don't like to waste too much mongering money on a Hotel but still require a good comfortable standard.
My price bracket seems to be 1500 to 2500 Baht so it will be tougher for me in the high season. I might have to pay a little more.

Recently i saw their (new ?) web site, where they announce the room price is now between 2680 and 2880 thb.
I really have the best impression of this hotel, but i still remember last year paying 1800 thb on their promotional rate, dou you still think its still a good value ?
Also when i was there rooms had DVD player and i don't see this announced, not very important, but its strange to upgrade the room price and take out the dvd player.

Looks like Dynasty has been too popular.
The room is definitely a cut above the ordinary. Its a good size and modern.
I am not surprised that their price has increased.
I think I got in recently at a slightly lower cost (low season), but was impressed as before.
I am currently at Grand President Tower 3 at 2199 Baht but room is smaller.
However I do get breakfast for 2 included.
Also consider Livingstone's Lodge Soi 33.
All 3 have free internet access (very important) and a swimming pool.

I walked over there a few days ago and asked for a tour of their rooms (durng a quiet time) -- the rooms I saw (one in each tower) still had the DVD players.
Also note their website says that the prices are tax inclusive which a lot of others aren't. I haven't stayed there, but it looked nice -- will probably try it out next trip.

Hello,
I'm going to book a room at Nana hotel soon and I'd like to know if there is a better floor to stay at (i'm looking for the most renewed rooms).
Thanks
I asked about Sofitel Grand Sukhmumvit (on the alley connecting soi4 and soi6) before; I've had a chance to stay there now and can report it is very GF. No fees. They hold the girls' id for overnights (or anticipated overnights?). May or may not do that for daytime visits.
Great location, a 3-4 minute walk from BTS and Sukhmumvit, 3-4 from soi 4. Dynasty Grand is 2 buildings over, and there's a 7-11 in between for cheap drinks and snacks.
About 3500-4000bht a night pre-tax in this shoulder season, 500bht/night for internet.
It's probably on the expensive side for the average monger but if you're into nicer hotels, it measures up well for value-for-dollar. Style is European with asian accents. Or Asian with European accents? Good service/staff consistently. Might be the nicest GF upscale brand-name place in the area since I believe I've read the other such hotels in this niche (hyatt, jw marriot, etc) charge a joiner fee.
It is an upscale hotel so I have the feeling if you parade your obvious p4p girls too often through the lobby during peak check-in/check-out times, they might have a word with you (lots of couples, businessmen, etc staying here). However, I never had any trouble and especially late at night they seemed actually apologetic to even take the girls' ID.

JW Marriott definitely does NOT charge a joiner fee. Nor do just about any of the legitimate 5* places. Still, it's nice to know that this Sofitel is also guest friendly, as I had heard conflicting reports - but none were first hand as this one is. It's good to have a range of upscale choices, just as there are a range of inexpensive choices. Also, the Sofitel Sukhumvit is right next door to the Dynasty Grande, which is significantly less expensive and not too much less upscale and also completely guest friendly. IMHO, this is a great location.

Yep, their website definitely has these new, higher rates. As for whether it's still a good value, it depends on what you want. I still don't think that there is a nicer, guest-friendly conventional full service hotel in the area for under 3000/nt, as the rates seem to be going up everywhere else as well. I remember the good old days a few years ago, when I could easily and predictably get the JW Marriott or the Westin Grande on Priceline for $75/nt (translated to ~$90 a night after fees and all taxes included). Nowadays, you can't touch the Marriott for under $170 complete).
Hello a question,

Ah, my fault, I probably mis-remembered earlier posts.
I agree most mongers will prefer Dynasty Grande (and it's very solid) especially considering the 1/3 to 1/2 premium (if you include internet costs) for Sofitel. The difference is probably comparable to a Marriot and a W hotel in the US.

I have been to Thailand 7 times now, but I have never been there near the Christmas or New Years time frame. I never seemed to have a problem finding a room with no notice in Pattaya, but a few times I have had a hard time getting a low priced hotel in BKK (where I wanted to stay anyways).
I will be in Bangkok and Pattaya during mid to late December and I don't like planning my hotels too far in advanced because sometimes I like to go back and forth between Pattaya and Bangkok.... mostly due to free pussy I have here and there.
So... during this time of year is it more difficult to find rooms without a reservation? When I go to Bangkok I will try Dynasty Inn in Bangkok, and probably Dynasty Inn, Penthouse, or Areca Lodge in Pattaya.
Guess I'll ask the same question in the Pattaya forum too.
Thanks

If you are looking for a place 2 crash for a night here or there when you are in & out of BKK.
Try the thai house inn on sukhumvit rd & soi 7.
It isn't great, but for the cheap charlies who need a place to crash, it isn't that bad for 700bhat a night & it's located next door to the Beirgarden.

As I said there is a possible issue. If you read my original statement about my proposed trip I have "permission" but cannot push that too far
So the "excuse" about diving is real but was amazed when she said that I could stop over in BKK. Think she wants me to buy lots of clothes to take home!
Anyway if I stay somewhere she hasnt heard of (at home or in Europe I usually do Radisson/Swissotel/Marriotts) then she will want to see what its like and that might be a problem with your site and as soon as she sees some (not all) then she will ask questions. Think main problem areas are the Sports Lounge and Past Events sections with pics not easily explained.

In regards to the way your web site is now.... it is a reason work won't allow me to book your location and they put me in other locations.
Two sites, a clean one more of a boutique hotel type and then one that is more geared toward the "ISG boutique hotel" type might not be a bad idea.

Good, we will clean that up, take out all pictures about the action, make Livingstone's a serious hotel for business travellers.
All the rest then only - in the ISG.

Has anyone stayed in this hotel?
http://www.salilhotel.com/index.html
I enjoy staying in small boutique hotels, and would unhesitatingly recommend Dream Hotel. The latter is clean, smart, friendly, convenient and slightly unusual. However I noticed that their rates had gone up somewhat for my next trip, and so I thought I would try the Salil Hotel. I have booked it for 4 nights and got a good deal, so I will let you know what it is like on my return. Again it looks clean and smart, and good location on Soi 8.
I have never had an issue in any hotel with joiners (possibly because I prefer to retire early, and so am often walking through the lobby when it is quite busy, rather than rolling in at 2am when staff might be on the look-out). Would rather drink my beer in bed with a sweetie than in a bar that is sweaty!
I am passing through BKK again a week later on my return from Japan, but not sure whether to book now or wait until I have experienced the Salil Hotel.
I did RTFF and read good things about both the hotel.
I got reservation in both from 11/23 - 11/28.
Majestic Suite -
Double Deluxe room for 2050 THB.
Plus - Girl friendly and No joiner fee, Next to Nana
Minus - OLD Decor, No Pool ,Sometimes Noisy as it close to Nana, Not upscale.
Grand President on Soi 11 -
Summer Breeze Opal Studio for 2099 THB
Plus - Girl friendly and Not sure about the joiner fee, Clean and little upscale feel, Pool ( I don't care much though ) , I Like the room pic on their website , free internet access
Minus - Don't Know of any
Since this my first visit to BKK so I haven't seen both of them and am not familiar with different BKK areas. My objective is too pick up bar girl , freelancer and fuck at least twice a day . But I also want to sleep in clean room without the yucky feel. In US I feel comfortable staying in Courtyard by Marriot and above . Rest of them don't do it for me unless it's do or die situation.
Since I am stepping into mongering vacation for the first time I don't want to come back to US with bad experience and feeling . I want a good start and want remember this for the rest of life ;)
I am not able to decide which one will be best . Can any BKK senior help me decide ?
Is anybody staying in Grand president during that time .
Thanks in advance .

Tansak KTV,
...and we always thought our website really does not show much...
Good, we will clean that up, take out all pictures about the action, make Livingstone's a serious hotel for business travellers.
All the rest then only - in the ISG.

Or just put some guys with the girls, for me, work knows what goes on in BKK, for all I know they are posting here too....
Wolvie, the GP is nicer, but still not great.
If you decide to stay there, ask to NOT be put in tower 3. It is the one in most need of renovation, and even though I haven't seen the pic in their website you talk about, I am sure it is not in tower 3. Tower 1 or 2 are newer looking, and cleaner.
Have fun.

Will Tower 3 opal suite be better than MS Double deluxe room?
Today the rate for the same Tower 3 opal suite increased from 2099 to 2499 on GP site. The hotel prices are skyrocketing like crazy in BKK.
There has been some negatives posted about GP in the past but that was before their aggressive renovation program. Your price quote is a good deal.
If you like Courtyard, definitely stay at GP. GP is much nicer than Majestic Suites. Majestic Grande is an excellent choice but I assume the price is much higher. Majestic Suites is a clean budget hotel. GP is far nicer especially for the small price difference you were quoted. Many of the GP rooms were renovated in the past year. I stayed in a two bedroom suite in Tower 3 a few months ago and it had just been renovated. It was an awesome room. GP has a good buffet breakfast if that interests you. Try to get that included in your price. GP has a great location too. There is a shortcut you take take to get to Nana or Bier Garden on Soi 7. GP is very close to skytrain as well. This decision is a no brainer if you want a nice hotel. GP is much better than Majestic Suites. You will not be disappointed.

A couple of months ago I was asking if Shangri-La is girlfriendly, and I 've got a few positive answers.
I would like to report my opinion after personal experience:
Shangri-La is the most girlfriendly 5 star hotel I have ever stayed in BKK.
Very positive reaction from the staff people (I am saying that because I experienced some negative reactions in another 5 star hotel in BKK) and no joiners fee.

Travelling to Bangkok sometime during the end of this month and this will be my first trip to Bangkok and hence, would like other members from the forum to kindly reply to my quiries. Will be staying at Hotel Athenee Plaza (Royal Meredian Hotel) at the Wireless Road.
1) Are there any mongering zones near to this Hotel (Massage parlours, Clubs, bars etc).
2) Is the hotel I am staying a girl friendly hotel ? Will it be possible for me to get a decent escort into the room?
3) How far is Nana Plaza away from this hotel and what is the best way to get there.
4) Would someone suggest a good escort agency, which I could approach over phone. (I have seen plenty of ads in the website, but confused on which one is good and reliable)
Would appreciate, if someone from the forum could kindly reply to my mail at the earliest.
Thanks in Advance

1) Who cares if there are mongering zones right near your Hotel?
Its better to stay a slight distance from the Mongering spots so that you are not too obvious all the time.
Anyway its a very short taxi ride to mongering zones. Nana Plaza is the nearest I guess although some discos may be closer.
Its not too far to Patpong nor to Soi Cowboy, nor Sukhumwit MPs.
2) Haven't sayed at your Hotel. But do a search for the name.
3) Nana Plaza is less than 1 km away. You could even walk if the weather is nice. Its only one stop on the BTS (sky train) from Ploenchit (sounds like Plernjit) to Nana. Its also a very short Taxi ride.
Personally I think Soi Cowboy is much better than Nana Plaza these days, however I will admit Angel Witch is a good bar.
4) Some-one else should answer this. But I prefer to look at girls and select myself from other mongering venues.

I stayed inTower 3 recently at 2199 Baht per night.
There is nothing wrong with it at all. It is clean. Room had small kitchenette.
Free Internet included.
Breakfast included for 2 in Tower 1 was not best I have found but quite adeqate. Plenty of American and Indian dishes but not much Thai food at breakfast
Pool and Gym on Tower 2 was available.
Hard to beat at this price.
Livingstome's Lodge would be my choice except that I have played up there so cannot take my GF there.
My GF was very happy with GP
The price is going up now as low season is over and bookings are getting heavy. Its shoulder season I guess but high season must be close.
P.S. I room at Dynasty Grande was really super, but the price was higher than GP Opal Suite.
I was going to stay at Baiyoke Sky with GF but it was booked out.

I often stay at the Plaza Athenee on Wireless Road when I can get a good deal using my Starwood points, and I really like the place. I find it ideal when I want to be near mongering areas, but not RIGHT in the middle of them (for that, choose the JW Marriott, Landmark, Majestic Grande, or Dynasty Grande - or any number of less upscale cheaper places).
The closest mongering zone to the Plaza Athenee is the Nana area, which is around a 15-20 minute walk, or a 40-50 baht cab ride. The walk goes under the Expressway and Ploenchit BTS, and is not pretty, but I have never considered it to be unsafe. Taking the BTS only saves you around 1/2 the walk, so it's not worth the effort - either walk it or cab it. Because of the traffic directions on Sukhumvit and Wireless, the cab ride is much shorter coming TO the hotel from NANA than it is going the other way. As a result, I generally walk to Nana, and cab it back - which works well because your new lady friend won't want to walk it. The hotel is totally guest friendly. As long as you meet your lady in the lobby, or enter with her, you will have no problem at all bringing her to your room. She won't be able to come up to your room without you, as she will need a hotel room key to take the elevator to the guest floors.
I don't bother with agencies, and once you realize what is available on the ground in Bangkok, you won't either

Does anyone have any information on the CitiChic hotel? It's a brand new and seemingly quite nice place that is owned by the same folks who run the Majestic Suites and Majestic Grande. It's priced in the 2300/nt range, and since the Dynasty Grande has just raised their rates nearly 20% and I can't get a good Starpoints deal at the Plaza Athenee, I am tempted to give the place a try in mid-December (The Majestic Suites is fully booked, and they are trying to book me there). I'm mostly wondering about how convenient the location is.

Splendid hotel, which I tried out on your recommendation earlier this year, 2041. The room cards-in-elevator procedure was not explained to me by check-in staff (an issue for me, along with some very poor travel advice re: Getting around Bangkok). The reception staff let down an otherwise superb staff team.
This hotel was about ten minutes walk to Soi Nana for me, and three or four minutes walk to the Ploenchit BTS, which makes all the delights of Sukhumvit quickly available. It's also a short taxi ride or long walk from the excellent nightlife/market area of Sanam Luam. Incidentally, SL was threatened with close-down. Any news on that?

Now why would an expirienced monger need advice re: Getting around Bangkok?
A somewhat mystifying statement. I'm confused.
Not stayed there, but looks good from the pictures and information on the web-site. I'm always on the look-out for good boutique hotels, so please post a review if you stay there.
There is a useful map of hotel locations at:
http://www.hoteltravel.com/thailand/bangkok/sukhumvit_map.htm
I stayed at the Dream Hotel recently (and can highly recommend it). I had a very pleasant stroll from there along to Soi 4 most days, or if I was feeling lazy would occasionally get a bike ride to/from Nana BTS for a few Baht. CitiChic looks like it is a fairly long stroll (5-10 minutes to Nana?), but you're probably not in a rush? You can always get a taxi back in the evening if you are in a rush!

Please allow me to relieve you from your mystification and confusion, Mick. I had asked the Athenee reception about directions to a shopping area on Sukhumvit 71 that had been recommended to me and I had not visited before. I could see from my map that a BTS over to Phra Khanong, then a taxi or bus up Suk 71 made sense. But I asked the Athenee reception if they had any better ideas. They advised booking a taxi through themselves for a short-cut. My blood temperature steadily rose as the hotel-booked taxi crawled in the afternoon traffic up Suk, and I watched skytrain after skytrain glide past us overhead. I hold my hands up and admit that I made an error of judgement with the Athenee reception's advice. Just to confirm to myself that I had been mugged by the Athenee reception staff, I asked them for directions to a couple of nearby locations that are very close to public transport routes with which I am very familiar. Both times they suggested that I should book a taxi through themselves :D.
Otherwise, like I said, a great, up-market hotel, and a good recommend by 2041.
btw, The shopping area (a Big C and it's surrounds) was not worth the trip.

You should have asked the concierge, not the reception girls. My experience at the Plaza Athenee is that they are far better for this type of thing.

My concern about the CitiChic is that it seems to be pretty far from Nana - it appears to be right near the President Solitaire. I'm currently reserved there, but I am looking for something closer that's under 2500/nt and decent. The Dream is around 4000/nt. Dynasty Grande, Grottino and Majestic Suites are fully booked, as are all the better rooms at Nana and Dynasty Inn. 5-10 minutes to Nana wouldn't bother me too much. I'm concerned that it's more like 15+ minutes.

BTW Terry, there's a Big C that's MUCH closer to the Plaza Athenee than the one you went to by Ekamai. One of my tiraks took me there to buy her stuff. - Less than 10 minutes and around 50 baht by taxi.

This trip I have booked into the Salil Hotel. I don't know anything about it but from the web page it looks smart, clean and pleasant. It says it is about 300m from Nana BTS, and has its own tuctuc driver should that be a problem!
http://www.salilhotel.com/accom.html
It's costing me about 2000 Bht / night. I'll post a report when I return.

well, the location of the salil is certainly convenient (probably no more then 200 meters from [CodeWord900] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord900) for a mid-day pipe cleaning, or several other massage venues). but the standard rooms appear to be not much bigger than those of the majestic suites, and i have no information about their guest friendliness policy, and it's a tad pricey for a place with no pool or fitness center. i would certainly be interested in know how it works out for you, mouse1.
fyi, here is a reply i just received to my inquiry regarding their guest policies:
dear sir,
we have superior rooms available on that days. room rate is 2,000 baht nett (inclusive of breakfast for 2 persons, 7% government tax and 10% service charge) this rate is for staying minimum 3 nights consecutively. if you booking for 1 person and you bring visitor or joiner to the room, we won't charge you anything because the room is for 2 persons. howerver, if you bring visitors or joiners more than 1 persons, we will charge you 300 baht/person/night (exclude breakfast).

Had to laugh a little. Short cut???
The reception girls were going to get commission from your Taxi I suppose.
Anyway the BTS would have been a much better idea clearly, even if it didn't go all the way.
Even the dumbest of staff would surely know this, but may assume Farangs would prefer to travel by taxi to save the hassles.
Soi 71 is a fair way in traffic. Once had a girlfriend who lived down there in Phrakhanong.
Anyway I am a stubborn person. I hate to receive advice from Thais always fearing that they will have ulterior motives. If I relly need information I may overcome this stubborness but choose who I ask very carefully.
So I struggle to be polite when exiting the Hotel and guys are asking where am I going and can they help me. Strangely my Thai GF appears prepared to talk to them and listen to advice when I don't wish to consult with them at all.
If you only needed Big C, then the Chitlom branch opposite World Trade Centre is quite good (and I always go there) as the other poster mentioned.
Perhaps other shopping places were also of interest.
I like to go to Mah Boon Khrong since its right at a BTS stop.
For Phanthip Plaza, I go PhayaThai stop and then get a Taxi or Tuk Tuk back down to Petchburi road.
So I am always thinking carefully in terms of best BTS or MRT stops for connecting to shopping places easily.
I therefore try to keep my Taxi rides short or to off-peak times.
I even like to fly out of Bangkok very early morning or on a Sunday to avoid heavy traffic and stay reasonably close to the expressway entrance.
Just got back from my trip to BKK. 9 days of play but 5 days spent at Honey hotel on Soi 19. The hotel was not holding my room when I arrived (surprise) and offered me the car parking for 800bht for 1 night and move to another room next day. Next day they screwed me again saying room not available (I asked for 1 bed with refrigerator (even though I sent e-mail day before I left to reconfirm I was coming and time of arrival. So took what they gave me, 2 beds pushed together and had the bellboy lug up refrigerator for me! Paid 1, 00bht per night. Rooms are older, carpeted, only 7-9 channels on tv, bath tub/shower, pool, no elevator (I was on the 3rd floor) and they don't ask the girl for ID.
Location was good, only 50-75 yards up soi19 from sukhumvit-Westin/Robinson. Would I stay there again voluntarily? NO. But if in a pinch/last minute it is ok until you can find another.
(ie. I moved to parkway inn near majestic suites, but that's another story)
Dear All,
I have booked into the Hotel Unico Leela, does anyone know if it allows guests, if so if there is an additional fee?
I have read various reports on it, can anyone recommend a decent hotel near by for about under 1300bht.
Any advice welcome.

The PB Hotel is nearby. I thought itIts a short-time Hotel but a friend of mine stayed there for several days in a good standard room very cheaply.
Not sure if the room has any windows.
Buts its probably better than Leela.

Anyone stay at Adelphi Suites on Soi 8 before?
Work is looking at putting me at Adelphi Suites or Legacy Suites (newly opened in Dec of this year supposedly and on Soi 29 by 33 and across from 22).
From the other properties this company manages they are GF so not worried about that just wondering about the apartments. I did search the forum but got nothing.

Adelphi Suites looks to be quite nice. I looked at the place yesterday, and it was more than I wanted to spend (3100/nt for a studio, up to 5000/nt for bigger apartments). But if my employer was paying, I'd be there.

FYI, I checked out several places yesterday for my return to Bangkok next week when the Majestic Suites is fully booked up.
I was not impressed with the Salil, as it looked to be a bit overpriced at 2000/nt for small rooms, no pool or fitness center, no elevator, and around 1/2 km from Sukhumvit on Soi 8. The Adelphi suites looked FAR better, and is located around 100 meters from Sukhumvit. But it cost more than I wanted to spend.
The Le Fenix didn't look as good in person as on their website, and again, the facilities were limited. The CitiChic looked great, and the location is not nearly as far as I had feared from Sukhumvit, it's a 7 minute walk to the Biergarten - it's directly next door to the much more expensive President Solitaire. The Grand President looks good, but there is alot of construction going on.
After checking all of these places out, I decided that the CitiChic at 2300/nt seems right now to be the best value of the bunch

adelphi suites is in a really excellent location. around 100 meters from the nana bts stop, around the corner from [CodeWord900] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord900), aviva massage, and several nice restaurants. ~ 5 minutes walk to biergarten, less than 10 minutes to nana entertainment plaza. you really could not have a better location.

If you're getting it for anything around 2500 or less, it's definitely the best value around. Only thing I can't speak from is the quality of the staff, and whether the guest policy in reality is as good as was stated to me on my inquiry.
Here's a quick review of the Salil Hotel, where I stayed the last 4 nights:
Good points: Clean, bright, modern, wood floors, minibar, TV, etc. Guest friendly (free for one guest/night - have to leave ID card). DVDs to rent or borrow. Large ensuite with walk in shower. Included breakfast OK, on open terrace, very pleasant. Didn't check out roof top lounge as 5 flights up!
Bad points: fair walk to Nana BTS, but free tuctuc service (can call coming back and very prompt); standard rooms not big (could swing Kat but can't afford her - joke), bed hard, plastering done by incompetent idiot!, water pressure not very high (but OK); could never get cold water from sink tap; no lift - I'm on second floor so no problem. Think you have to purchase wireless internet connectivity (I have wifi card so not needed).
Sound like more negatives than positives but I liked it for its modern feel. I paid less than 2000Bht per night so I thought good value for money.
You have to leave 500Bht deposit for room key card. Wondered if attendant would forget it on check out this moning, and he did. Gently reminded him, and much apologising!
For what it's worth, I had a look in Majestic Suites for my next stay in 10 days time, and thought Salil better, because brighter and more modern feel. Have stayed in Dynasty Grande and it is a lot better than Salil, but twice the price.
I still rate Dream Hotel the tops, but seems more expensive each time I check prices. Would probably book Salil again, but CityChic does sound interesting.
After checking all of these places out, I decided that the CitiChic at 2300/nt seems right now to be the best value of the bunch

since ambassador is not girl friendly anymore, i stay now the third time at stable lodge. small hotel, about 30 rooms, 1500b + tax.
nice rooms with balcony and a little pool. but (free)wifi is just working downstairs, not in the room. no save in room, just at reception.
perfect location if you are a bj lover. just two minutes to [CodeWord900] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord900). you could be back at the pool within 20 minutes. :.)
if you are seeking companionship, this is the wrong place. most guests are old scandinavians or couples. but i like it, i mostly have the pool alone for myself. stable lodge is girl friendly, but fee is required for second girl (530b)
Due to some problems/experiences of the past few months we slightly changed the promotion rules for ISG members:

The modification is related to promotion option no. 4, the upgrade for returning ISG members.

tried leela inn (somewhere near the river behind sukhumvit). not sure if they charge extras as i took a girl in during the day.
also tried manhanttan hotel. was charged b500 for bringing in a takeaway.
looks like only the 4-5 star hotels i stayed in westin and landmark lets you bring girls with no extra charge. but the room rates are super high! ok for business trip but a no-no for personal trip.
question: does anyone know of any girl friendly hotels in sukhumvit area? preferably in between nana and soi cowboy? not over b2000.
thanks!
Hi All,
Has anybody had any experience with the Oakwood group of serviced apartments, I've searched the forums but nothing comes back, which is weird as I thought I'd seen them mentioned quite a bit before.
They have a new property on Sukhumvit 24 that looks quite interesting, currently at President Park but this place is really showing it's age nowadays...
Bit of further info regarding Adelphi Suites and Legacy Suites, I've had a look at both and they're both quite good, Aldelphi Suites had noisy aircon in the rooms which I was shown which is weird as it's brand new, Legacy Suites had a nicer feel to it but won't be fully finished till mid Jan by the looks of it.
Legacy suites looked the more homely of the two in my opinion, but Aldelphi's location was better.
Anyways, Oakwood anybody...?
Cheers,
Tom.

Dezstylez,
A friend of mine always stays in Maxim's Inn , 900B (last year) . It's located in the famous Soi 7/1 , in the middle of action. Just one minute to the sky train. And , of course 100% girl friendly.

After staying at Livingstone's for the past week, I'd like to compare the experience to staying at the Landmark hotel about two years ago. The superior room at Livingstone's was better than the superior room at Landmark (both in about the middle range of their respective rooms). Livingstone's was bigger, had a much better bed, better quality finishing materials (like to floor) and was newer. The only area where Landmark excelled was the glass enclosed stall versus the hand sprayer and holder in the bathtub at Livingstone's. Of course both hotels offer convenient access to the Skytrain. At Livingstone's you feel like part of a (sophisticated) family and have everything you need for care and feeding plus the Sports Bar which is uniquely accomodating with its many attractive and available girls and very hrlpful mamasan. The girls in Livingstone's are just as attractive as any on Soi 33 (the artist bar street) and friendly without being pushy. Bottom line, when traveling alone or with male friends, I much prefer Livingstone's over Landmark, not to mention the price advantage (about ahlf the cost).

Thanks for your report. It was a pleasure for us to have you staying here at the lodge.
After reading this we just discuss how to fix this price advantage problem ... should we double the prices :) ?!?

I strongly prefer the JW Marriott to the Westin. And I'm a Starwood SPG Gold member. I also prefer the Plaza Athenee to the Westin, and that's a Starwood property as well. The Sheraton Grande is slightly better than all of them, but it's also generally more expensive - and is definitely more costly in Starpoints.
I miss the days when the JW Marriott could be gotten for $75/nt on Priceline.
Is the Sheraton Grande as GF? The only problem I have with Marriott's are that they are so business like. I'm on an expense account so money isn't the issue and am looking for the nicest hotel that is closest to all the action, GF and that I don't have to feel like I am doing the walk of shame if I bring a guest back. I would have stayed at the Peninsula or the Oriental but they seem out of the way and I'm not sure they are gf. It would be nice to find a great place, that is beautiful where higher end ladies sit at the bar or lounge and are working but don't look like it.
For those of you that are going to resent the fact that I am looking for higher end accomodations and talent please keep in mind that not too long ago I was on the lower end of everything from hotels to the talent but got lucky and can do it differently.

You might want to consider the Grand Hyatt Erawan. They are GF and their bar Spasso's has lots of upscale working girls, or at least they would like to think they are upscale. Just be aware though that not all the women in there are working, but the working girls will usually let you know fairly quickly.
As for the walk of shame, that is unavoidable in most upscale hotels. The hotel and its staff are not the problem. It is the Western women that give you the dirty looks when you walk in with some sweet young thing.
If I didn't have a TGF and my company didn't make me stay at a preferred hotel, Livingstone's would be my first choice though. Absolutely no walk of shame there. And you have your choice of suitable companions in the sports bar, but then no one would ever think they were just sitting there having a drink.

Way too much drama. Try Dream hotel, Soi 15, I think. Plenty going on within a very short walk. Very friendly toward company, no hassle by security. Rooms are great. I'm booked there again in January.

All things considered, I think that the best upscale places in terms of everything, but especially location, are the JW Marriott, the Sheraton Grande, the Landmark, and the Plaza Athenee, then the Westin. The Marriott and the Landmark are essentially at ground zero, the Sheraton and Westin are pretty darn close to Soi Cowboy, and the Plaza Athenee is around a 15 minute walk to Nana, or a less than 5 minute walk to the BTS. Plaza Athenee has virtually no walk of shame, as the elevators are right near the entrance, whereas the other places all require you to cross the lobby. Westin has the worst walk of shame, as you really need to traverse TWO public lobbies. But IMHO, the walk of shame is a very minor point. I also think that the Hyatt is rather far from the action other than at it's own bars, although not as far as the hotels by the river.
Incidentally, pretty much all of the 5* places are guest friendly, but some do have dress codes, so if you like to wear gym shorts and a t-shirt, and/or you pick up obviously slutty looking, cheaply dressed bar girls, that can be an issue.

Far be it for me to warn you off of the JW Marriott Bangkok - I happen to really like the place. I also think that it is MUCH the best individual hotel in the entire Marriott chain, so I wouldn't let your perception (accurate, IMHO) that most Marriotts are too cold and business-like in ambience warn you off the place - it's simply not the case with THIS Marriott - and the staff is the most warm and professional that I have ever encountered in any Marriott anywhere. And when this overweight, greying 46-year-old farang walked in with a 20-something Thai hottie, she was consistently treated as much as a valued guest of the establishment as was I, the one paying the bill - even if she was the 4th different young Thai hottie I walked in with over 2 days.
In any case, I also think highly of the Sheraton Grande and Plaza Athenee - but, IMHO, so long as you don't need to be at all removed from the action for purposes of other non-mongering rendezvous, the location of the JW Marriott is the most convenient of all - although just a bit further from the BTS than those others.

Why would the looks, dirty or otherwise, given by silly old western hags be of any relevance to any of us? Or even younger, relatively doable but high maintenance Western chicks?
On the contrary, Thailand is a heavenly place where Farang men can demonstrate that their fellow countrywomen are most completely replaceable with younger, sexier and funnier alternatives, and that consequently the old blackmail of gifts, candy, romantic evenings and generally poodle behaviour in return for sex that is prevailing in Farangland is uttely non-workable anymore.
This must be the source of the dirty looks you mention, and that is priceless.

I totally agree with you for the most part. The dirty looks don't bother me as much as the TGF. She notices it and hates it, because she thinks they are thinking she is a working girl. The most fun is getting in an elevator with some Western whale and her husband. The wife is glaring at me and my TGF, but I can see the husband is thinking how much he would love to be in my shoes.
Still, lets be realistic and understand that the young Thai girls are not going with us older Western guys completely out of the goodness of their hearts. Having played on both sides of the fence in Thailand with working and non-working girls, in the end they all want to be taken care of one way or the other. It may not always be money, but the dynamics between men and women is a universal equation for the most part where the women look for the man who can in the end provide the most.
The advantage of going with working girls is that the equation is a one time deal well understood by all. You truly do pay them to leave. Much harder to do that with a TGF who does not view herself as a working girl.

Very true.... especially about getting rid of a TGF IMHO, had a bad experience with this recently.
Since this is the hotel thread, from my experiences this past year... serviced apartments treat the ladies with great respect and I've not had a problem. Never a walk of shame and never a problem at the gym or pool with the TGF. Mostly Somerset Properties have all been wonderful. Even when I was sneaking in a short time girl while the TGF was out and asking the staff to remake up the room it was no problem.
Only time I ever had any issue (looks) was when I did not have a TGF and that was at the breakfast tables when the other wives seeing a different girl every morning. However the breakfast staff was wonderful about it and had a great time with me and the girls. Every morning the waitresses would give me a rating of 1-10 on the past nights companion. :)
When I was housed in hotels in BKK, I thought JW and Westin were charging above what they gave in service for me. I enjoy both brands in some other cities but not in BKK, just don't see the cost benefit to them. And I have no idea of what current costs are but I did see what Landmark tried to charge the other day and was a shocked. You could get a room and a LT girl for that price at many great locations in BKK.

I'm hoping I get the Majestic Suites, but if it's full for my Feb. Timelines, I"m looking for a "similar" type hotel in that same area. I'm not thrilled about the Everrich because of the "no windows" or "crappy view" thing.
I'm looking to spend 40-60. And I'd like to be no further down than about Soi 8 or so.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Click on "Search this Thread", enter this
"Star Inn"
including the quote marks, so that you won't get a hit on just Star, and go.
Here is an example of a report you will find:

Its that easy. It might not answer very specific questions but at least a general impression can be found.
I am actually considering staying at the Star Inn for a week in February.
And yes, I do intend to bring TGs and probably a multi-day GF, but I also want to be able to sleep (alone) undisturbed if I choose.
What are the rooms like?
Do all rooms have mirrors?
Is the fact, that it is a ST hotel in any way a problem for a quiet day or two?

The 5 stars in BKK are really getting greedy at the same time their service level is declining. I have about 70 stays at the Grand Hyatt over the last 15 years and it definitely is not the hotel it used to be as far as service goes.
I just did my expense report and see that they charge 117 baht just to dial the AT&T USA Direct line which is supposed to be a toll free call in Thailand. 24 hour internet access is 717 baht. What really pissed me off was that the TGF brought her laptop and logged in on the same line and they charged me twice for the same 24 hours. I complained but they said you only get to use one computer. We went down to Spasso's one night and for a total of 4 drinks I got charged 1300 baht.
They really pissed the TGF off, because we asked for an iron and ironing board every day and they removed it every day. They had never done that before, you ask once and it stays in the room until you leave or you ask them to take it away. The TGF used to go up to the Club lounge, but after sitting there for an hour being ignored, she won't go in there again. She has been going there alone for the 3 years we have been together and never had a problem before.
My discounted rate is 5600 a night. It used to only be 3500. If the company was not paying, I would not go there anymore. There are plenty of other places in Bangkok that offer more for less. But the location is good and Spasso's does offer some interesting opportunities at times. It is just a shame that service is down at the same time prices have gone up so much.

Yup, I agree completely. I much prefer smaller hotels in BKK if I have a choice and admit I do like Livingstones when I'm paying my own dime. I just get better personalized service at the smaller places. I've been following the boutique hotel's on this thread too to see how they are also.
My work decides where I stay and they got cranky about somethings at the so called higher end hotels so they've been putting me in serviced apartments for a long time now. I only need a bed and bathroom but I will admit it's nice having a full apartment with living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen, etc... and the rates they give the firms are about 2,500 to 3,500 baht. Contract rate with Landmark was more then that on a crappy room. And as I said they serviced apartments I've been at are completely girl friendly.
I was put in a new place in two weeks on Soi 8 :) I'm missing BKK and it's only been three weeks since I left......
Btw, what's the Star Inn like? ?It's like this, and it isn't ...
Nice decor, great views (in the ceiling and wall mirrors). Lighting not so good, so I brightened the place up a bit with a ray of sunshine from Biergarten 7.
Just a quick report on Adelphi Suites Hotel, Soi 8. Stayed there for 4 nights on my last trip early December, paying about 2800Bht per night (including breakfast). A bit more than I wanted to spend, but I can highly recommend the hotel.
Pros: Convenient location, 100m from Nana BTS. Large rooms, with kitchen facilities. Smart, modern, well-built. Good flat-screen TV and CD player. Good swimming pool and gym on 16th Floor with view of city. Bathroom with walk-in shower. Nice breakfast bar / terrace on ground floor. Friendly staff. Girl friendly (two girls OK!).
Cons: Can't think of any beyond price (but still good value)
Will certainly return (but I bet the price goes up!)
I found an ad for hotel SEVEN in the Thai air magazine last month.
Their website is http://sleepatseven.com.
It looks nice, has anyone stayed there, I can 't find anything on it here. It is on Soi 31.
I have Adelphi, Majestic Grande and Livingstone on my list. How do they compare? It seems pricewise they are comparable but which one of these is a good bet for newbie? Are they GF friendly?
I was also planning on buying clothes - so info on how far these places are from shopping plazas would be greatly appreciated.
Do these hotels offer free wi-fi?
Thank you all.
