Anyone going to be in BKK next week? My first time so I'll be interested in seeing the major sites and what not and wouldn't mind someone to shoot the breeze with.I'll be going there and arriving Thursday. It's my 5th trip this year. Some for business and some for pleasure. If you want to meet at Nana in Bangkok that would be great. I happen to know the manager at Big Dogs at the entrance to Nana. Good guy, his name is Walter. Write me a PM and I'll get back to you.

Has anyone ever used Gate 1 Travel for their travel plans? They quoted me $975.00 for JFK (NY City) to Bangkok air and 3 nights hotel for that price, but the air is for a 2 week stay (March 1st - 15th). I wanted the two week to go to southern Thailand to dive, but I figured a couple of nights to start my trip off with and one just before I head home. I'm guessing this is a decent rate, but not sure about the Gate 1 travel people though. I found them on Frommers, so I figured they can't be too bad if they advertise on there. Let me know either way.
Thanks,

I will be there on Tuesday 21st November for 6 days, over the years I have visited Bangkok 5 or 6 times (1st time 1980). I am more than happy to do a little sight seeing and adventure with you or anyone else who is around at the time.
Cathy Pacific's deal of the month for November is Bangkok from LAX or SFO for $754.00. Also JFK to BKK for $905.00.

I'm looking for a place to stay close to Nana Plaza that is decent and possibly has TV with American news channels and wireless internet, but that won't break the bank. I don't need 5 star considering I'm just sleeping there. Also, have a friend meeting me in BKK too but he and his wife want a place close to where I'm staying (Nana Area) that would have a whirlpool in the room. The guys wife has to have the whirlpool if she can get it.

Thanks a ton! You can PM me if you like. You might want to check out this site for tours. Very good. Also, you should consider Cambodia also. Very cheap, good night life in Phnom Penh, and you can take a trip to Siem Reap to see Angkor Wat. It is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The people are wonderful too. Here's the tour website: www.viator.com
I am arriving lovely Bangkok Friday evening the 25th and staying at the infamous Nana hotel, anyone fancy a few drinks at the nana bar than let me know.
Of course the drinks on me.
As opposed to a tour to Siem Riep, fly into PP (visa $20 at the airport - take a photo with you or pay to have one made), cab into town (moto, whatever) to the bus station ($5 to 7) - take a bus to Siem Riep (5 hours more or less) and find a Cambo version of a tuk-tuk (moto with a rickshaw in back) for maybe $10/day. (who will also know of some places to stay - where he will probably get a comission - if it matters) Take LOTS of small US bills (1s and 5s - nothing larger than a 20 - except for the banks and casinos there isn't much need for them anyway)
Angkor admission is $20 - 1 day, $40 - 3 days; $60 a full week (bring a picture for the admission) Wear good climbing shoes (almost everything good is a climb up or over a rockpile of one form or another) and stash some water (or buy it out there in the "park" for 1000R/bottle) and take your bug juice - the mosq out there can get pretty annoying particularly toward sundown - and a torch if you intend on doing the "sunset from the overlook hill" - when the sun goes down the best way down is the elephant trail (yes, you can ride up if you want to pay the $15 or so)
LOTS of photo op's - I took 350 pix myself, but after 3 days there wasn't much new except another pile of rocks (unrestored temples)
Good info on talesofasia.com
And, yes, there are other things than just chasing poosey. Check out the Cambodia part of this forum

And, yes, there are other things than just chasing poosey. Check out the Cambodia part of this forumI agree with everything that Dinghy said and the prices are exactly what I paid for the Angkor Wat entry fees. It's also what I paid for the taxi. If you are going to fly into Phnom Penh from Bangkok the cheapest airlines, by far, is Air Asia. www.airasia.com. Flights, one way, to and from BKK-PNH were between $16-$20 USD each way. It is a nice airline with nice planes and the paint schemes are pretty cool too. Although the bus ride to Siem Reap is cheap, I myself can't sit that long each way on a bus. That's about 10 hours for a roundtrip. I flew Bangkok Airways (The Boutique Airline) from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. The flight lasted about 40 minutes. I know the roads are not the best between the two cities especially if it's raining. I think you can even still take a boat from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap which might be a nice picture taking opportunity. If the boat no longer runs I'm sure I'll stand corrected. My RT flights between PP and Siem Reap was about $110. 00 USD. If you go to PP, I had some good meals at the Riverside Inn with is obviously on the river and close to lots of the action. If you go there, there are two very nice, pretty women who work there. One's name is Socheata, she goes by Cheata, and her sister. Both very nice but not sure if either is available to meet up after they are off work. I just enjoyed talking to them. I'll attach there picture. Cambodia and it's people were a very pleasant surprise to me as they were some of the friendliest people I met in SE Asia. Also, literally 20 steps away from the Riverside Inn is the DV8 hotel/bar where there were always 8-15 girls available. They also have rooms and a pool table upstairs that are available for about $15. 00 USD per night. There are lots of horror stories I read about Cambodia before I went there but I have to say I had NO issues at all. I think it's just being aware of your enviroment and not getting stupid drunk and announcing that all around that your ripe for the pickings. Enjoy, I did.

Just returned from an amazing week in BKK. Planning a return already. How much better could Pattaya be. As long a trip as it is from the US adding another leg to the journey does not sound appealing but. . . as I RTFF I am considering. My favorite supply in BKK was NEP so if anyone could compare and contrast the 2 locales I'd be grateful. Thanks in advance

The girls are really cute and I hope they are still there in February. I will ask if they are available. However, the fare quoted in the message is a bit low. Let me know how you get it.
In October AirAsia had a BKK-PNH flight for 555B plus 750B "tax and stuff" - so the lower end of $18 or so was there, just that the total was a bit higher. I had to pay 700 + 750 (big deal!) - it was a sliding scale - of price. In general, their flights (low season) are in the 2000 + 750 range (the 750 is the "normal" extra). You have to book over the net (airasia.com) - if you go to an agent, prepare to pay about 25% more
Leaving BKK is 500B leaving PNH is $25 - so there is that also little bit of money (cash only!)
I'll be in BKK Jan 1-3 and Jan 13-15, staying at Giotto's lodge (if he has a room available). Will try to escape Soi 33 and Cowboy in my wanderings this time. Anyone want to join in for a drink and a wander, come on down.

I will be staying at the Areca for 2 weeks.
I`m a 40 year old from Ireland.
Does anyone wanting to meet up for a drink give me a shout.
I am flying into Bkk this week from Singapore and then connecting with a Thai flight to Krabi. Just wondering what the procedure is now for such a connection. Do I clear immigration and claim my bag and then have to recheck in or do I just go right through without going outside? I have already been in and out of the new airport three times but never noticed how a international to domestic connection worked.
Unfortunately no more mongering in Bkk. The TGF is keeping me on a short leash after our reconciliation after my last adventures.
If anyone has any suggestions or recommendations about Krabi, I would be interested in hearing them.

I'm arriving a week from monday into Bangkok, thinking of staying for two days, then heading down to Pattaya for the rest of my visit.
I have been reading the forums and seen many different results as far as what hotel etc.
One, any veterans going to be around the week of Dec11, willing to pal around w/a rookie, or at least truly show the ropes?
Two, I'm thinking of having an escort meet me at the airport so I can get to my hotel (course I don't know where I'm staying yet) without any worries.
Thoughts on this?
Thanks

Ultra, the bottom line is, do you want to stay in a luxury legit 4* hotel with pool, gym, restaurants and concierge services (Majestic Grande), or do you want to stay in a nice, clean, safe, but spartan 2* hotel with small rooms but good amenities in a great location (Majestic Suites).
Or, what I did was, split the difference and stay in the Dynasty Grande - it has a good pool, a gym, nice sized rooms, and a full service restaurant, and it costs around midway between the two. I'd call it a 3 to 3.5* place.

Hey, just want to ask some questions.
I know it's been done before, but I don't know when these reports have been posted and am looking for the latest info.
I am planning on going to Thailand for a couple of weeks.
1] which place is better/cheaper? Bangkok or pattaya?
2] I am into a lot of sexual activities incl. Fetishes and photography. How do I make sure that the girl I take will be without ANY inhibitions?
3] if I talk to the mamasan, will she arrange for me? If so, how do I recognize the mamasan and how much do I tip her?
4] is it easy to get a girl for a week or so, so as to get a true GFE?
5] if so, do I have to buy her clothes, jewelery, makeup or that sort of thing?
6] how much is the cost of alcohol in bars/bottleshops?
7] do I take the money or withdraw it from atms there? Are there atms available?
Thanks for reading.

As the new visar egulations is enforced, I 14 days ago applied for a 1 year non-imm visa for my next holiday. I have now gotten my passport back with the visa, but I have some questions about it.
The visa doesn't seem to have an expiry date, it just says "enter before 18 feb 07". -Does this mean that the visa is valid for 1 year from the day of entry to the kingdom?
Another thing, on "no of entry" it says 5. Can I only enter the country 5 times within the visaperiod?
Any help highly appreciated.

1) Pattaya is cheaper, but it's a sewer.
2) Find a girl on stage with a banana show, shooting ping pong balls or smoking a cigarette with her pussy and it's pretty much assured she won't have any inhibitions.
3) It depends on the establishment. If it's a Go-Go bar you won't have any trouble regognizing the mamasan. Just let your intentions be known to the wait staff and she will find you. Tip the wait staff 20 THB and 100 THB to the mamasan should be enough.
4) you can get one for a week, if that's what you want. Try her for a few nights first before making an agreement for a week.
5) It's not necessary, but it helps. She might ask you to go shopping. Some girls will take advantage of you some won't.
6) Depends on the Bar. I would say that a shot of whiskey is between 50 - 100 THB. Alcohol can be bought in supermarkets and convenience stores. Not much more expensive than in the U.S. Probably less than the U.K. or Europe.
7) ATMs are everywhere and you get a better exchange rate.
Planning to visit BBK & pattaya during new year would like some clearification.
1. Will the room rent go up?
2. Will the girls be more expensive?
3. Will there be more crowd?
Thanks

In short:
Yes (most expensive time for rooms are the holidays-during this period can expect prices to double or more), Yes (but may depend on your bargaining skills as well) and Yes (not only will there be more tourists but some local Thais will be visiting-so more demands on rooms hence higher prices.
Hi,
What would be great place to celebrate New Year in Pattaya?
Any good ideas for me?

Hey fellas, I am in Bangkok right now but headed to Pattaya tomorrow until Jan 7th. Was thinking about coming back to Bangkok from Jan 7-10 (when I fly out) Really want to see a lot more of what the city has to offer for the hobby. I know about Nana Plaza (NEP) and hung out at the Biergarten on Soi 7 today. Feels like I am only scratching the surface and would do better if hanging with someone that knows.

ThanksYes on all three points. Every year most hotels are fully booked for Dec. 31- Jan. 1 and many will therefore require guests to pay for a compulsory "gala dinner" on New Year's Eve that sometimes costs nearly as much as the room itself.
No one, tourist, ex-pat or local, wants to be alone on New Year's Eve, so there is more demand than usual for the girls' services that night, hence the price (and BFs) go up. Whether you're talking girls or hotel rooms, it's all a matter of supply and demand. The influx of tourists taking advantage of winter holidays to escape the colder climes of Europe makes things more crowded and intensifies demand for several weeks on either side of Jan. 1.

Here is some news for all of you guys to be aware of:
New airport faces partial shutdown
Mistakes, graft found in almost all contracts
AMORNRAT MAHITTHIROOK
Poor construction at Suvarnabhumi may force parts of the new airport to be shut down for repairs. This would open the way for the recently abandoned Don Muang airport to be re-opened to serve Bangkok's air traffic needs.
Deputy Transport Minister Sansern Wongcha-um said yesterday that following a recent report on the problems facing Suvarnabhumi airport, it was likely that part of the new facility would have to be closed and Don Muang airport would pick up the slack.
Board member Yodyiam Theptranont, who heads a sub-panel investigating the problems, said the repairs would take a long time. He could not give a timeframe

I want to fly to southeast Asia and visit several countries, especially Thailand and China. One obvious choice is to fly to BKK and use that as a base to visit other countries. However price is important. Is it cheaper to fly to another city and then visit other places from there? I have done some searches on the internet, but I was hoping some seasoned traveller would know what airports are cheaper to fly into. I will be coming from the U.S.
I have two other quick questions. What is the major airport in Indonesia. I assume Jakarta (cgk). The cheapest tickets I found are to Hong Kong. Airasia does not serve here, what is another cheap airline from HKG?
Thanks for any response.

Horaito, you can also consider flying to one country and returning from another. This will be considered round trip if you are flying from US to Asia counrties. I usually find the flights to Beijing to be "cheap" and was somewhat impressed by airfares that United offers recently.

Hello all
I have been missing in action for a few months fo various reasons (mainly the reality of work).
I will be passing through Bangkok for one night early in Feb and would like it to be a memorable night (well in reality any night in Bangkok is normally memorable).
My plan at present is to stay at Giotto's hotel (subject to availability). Now I've been around Bangkok several times and I think I know the score, however I would like to make my night memorable. Any suggestions from the regulars (and others) would be very welcome in terms on what naughtyness I could get up to.
Thanks and happy new year to all of you!!

Spend dome time reading the various sub-threads of the forum "Bangkok", "Bangkok Massage", "Photo Gallery", and "Giotto's Lodge" should give a good idea of what others get up to. Then you can ask more specific questions. We can't guess your particular fantasies or desires.
One night is enough to fuck your brains out, if you are not shy and really go for it!

Been reading the reports this site is great and the reports are very helpful.Well, it depends on what you're looking for in a hotel. I have my preferred downtown Sukhumvit area Bangkok Hotels classified as follows:
When I just need an inexpensive, clean, guest-friendly place with bed, shower and in-room safe, I go with: the Majestic Suites or the Dynasty Inn.
When I need an upscale place to impress someone, or I am seeking luxury: my picks would be: the Plaza Athenee (great value when booked with Starwood Pts as a Category 2), the Sheraton Grande, or the JW Marriott.
For a general purpose full service hotel with a restaurant, pool, and health club - the Dynasty Grande is my favorite, and the best value around for this, IMHO, a better deal than the Majestic Grande or Landmark.
Those are, IMHO, the first ones to consider.
