You may be able to use Uber to get from the airport to Blackbeard's, but I doubt if you're going to be able to get Uber to take you from Blackbeard's to anywhere else.

My last trip was in 2019. After a couple tries I finally got Uber to come to BBs for a one way ride to Sosua. Soon as he got there the taxi mafia surrounded this car. To make a long story short, the Uber guy had to move on and I ended up using the taxi Mafia.

They were charging 2,500 DOM in 2019 to go from BB to Sosua, one way. I imagine it's more than that now. Bueno Suerte!

I been bringing my own girls here this trip after I had a chicas tell me it was taking me to long to nut and was trying to over charge me. Oh, Ill also mention that when I stayed there I got the worst diarhea Ive had in my life. It knocked me out for days. Imodium didnt fix it, and I ended up taking antibiotics (Bactrim) whch thankfully you can buy over the counter. Apparently its very common to get sick from eating salad washed in the local water.BB is probably going to have issues soon. The 100 deposit thing no refund, other rules, not making the chicas follow the old ways, the leche treatment, etc the list goes on and on and sosua keep growing. Most $ is going to sosua then BB.

I have been using Gregorio for about 2 years now and its always 200 DOP in town. Anywhere from Historic zone to Jumbo. Price goes up reasonably from there. .Read my reviews my friend. I was there 6 times over a year and half, and I noticed a big change in the demeanor or the chicas. Each time I was there after my 1st 2 trips (first two were excellent) other customers where complaining about the same issues I posted about. I told them to talk to the mamasan (both of them) and their issues were not resolved.

Overcharging chicas, hurry up service, chicas demanding more money saying you are taking to long to cum.

Why do you think the rates are going up so rapidly? Repeat customers stopped coming back. Only newbies come and go. Most of them only come for the day or a night or two.

Most of the regulars moved on to greener pastures, columbia, Costa Rica, Thailand, Philippines etc.

I had three reservations for the rest of this year one for May one for Halloween and one around New Year's that I canceled because of the situations that I had to deal with all my last visit. Then add in the non refundable deposit and increased room prices which is scaring off returning customers as well as some new customers.

A few buddies that I met, they are at Blackbeards as well as my own personal friends all decided not to go back because of the same issues most of them are either going to Sosua or bocca chica or punta Cana.

Others are hell-bent on going to Columbia. I was so tempted to go back to Columbia, but after everything that's going on with people getting scoped. I decided to invest in a three week trip to the Philippines and Thailand in October.

Like I said, don't take my word for it if you don't believe what I'm writing about going and find out for yourself maybe you'll get lucky and not have that happen but I seen a lot of shady stuff going on at BB's.

Straight flights out of Newark cost more money than flying out of JFK in New York.

The problem with JFK it's a real pain in the butt to get there because of traffic so it comes down to cost versus convenience.

And if your lucky they will come back in the am before the mamasan arrives, but expect her to ask for more money with follow up excuses. I had to pay for a taxi to come see you again, I spent all my money you gave me my rent and as late. Blah blah blah.


P.S. for all the newbies were inexperienced travelers this is still a good spot to come to just talk to some of the veterans that still frequent the place and they'll help you the best I can. They helped me when I was having issues there.

J.I definitely enjoyed my time there. I'm 46 and I like the chill vibes. During my stay I would eat breakfast early in the morning then go to the beach or just walk around the community by myself.

If you want to experience Blackbeards then I suggest you go stay in Sosua then just visit Blackbeards one afternoon. I don't like being taken advantage of just because I don't speak the language and that is exactly what happened here. I've wanted to visit this place for YEARS and left after 2 hours feeling like a sucker. Obviously their prices are great. It's not the money its the principle. Stay away if you are an English speaker and don't like being taken advantage of. I left after less than 2 hours on property, they refused to refund my unused room and no one on property could tell me why I was being charged 33% higher than every other customer there. I am 40, fit, decently attractive and polite. Shame on this place.

The mamasans will not control the chicas! It is always best to discuss the price with the girl in person use your translator and get an agreed to price before you go upstairs. If you go into the hot tub Jacuzzi and you don't finish like you don't bust a nut and go upstairs it's still 3000 pesos plus tip if you want to tip. I flew Spirit Airlines (Go Big Option) includes the big front seats, 1 checked, 1 carry on, shortcut security, free snacks. I flew from BWI. STI ($349). I landed at about 1508 hours. Prior to departing I requested a ride from Blackbeards to pick me up from STI the airport. The price is pretty expensive ($90-S110) can't remember, but it's put together with your check-in bill. Security was a breeze. They did ask for the baggage tag usually given to you by airline staff / kiosk. They ask for this to match what you have in your hand to the bag your attempting to take out (anti-theft). I went outside and I saw Hector (Driver) with a sign with my name on it. We got into an SUV and headed to Puerto Plata. Hector was cool asf to talk to. My Spanish is beginners. I typically memorize the words that I know I'll use in the future. The ride was about 1 h10 min. Went by fast cause we talked most of the time. At about We pulled into the Puerto Plata area and went thru a gate / security area and headed to I believe Jenny's to exchange money $500 USD. Great exchange rate. The lady doing the exchange was pretty. I told Hector and he started laughing. I got to Blackbeards and checked in, I found out that they don't take American Express, so I gave them the USD I had. Today I did some tourist stuff. I met with the Hector (Driver / Security). He offered an in car city tour. He first drove me to the Fortaleza de San Felipe. It was a pretty kool thing to explore. There was a guy standing outside telling people what to get and gave them the wrong info on exchange rates. He looked at me and spoke Spanish. I do have the skin color and hair of a Dominican but that I am not. I told him that I'm gringo in Spanish, but I understand some Spanish. Then I went into the ATM booth and told the couple what to do and avoid the guy. When I exited the booth he was not there any more.

Hector drove me to a non touristy area for seafood (lobster). It was pretty good. After that he too me back to PP. I stopped at Jenny's for some water and snacks (great hungry at night). At 4 pm was the bikini contest. It was enjoyable. That was the most tourist I seen at BB since I been here.

I just returned from a 10 day visit to BB with a couple other buddies. I've been going there over 10 years now at least twice a year or more. This visit was one of the best I've had. Since it's low season, it was only about 3/4 full most of the time. Customers were of all ages and races. The chicas were of all sizes and shapes a great variety for all. Back to BB, the place is older, but the staff keeps it very clean with constant working to do so. A new water filtration system has been put in by Ted the Manager & works well. I had great hot water and water pressure in my room in the the section. Internet also works fantastic there. I noticed Ted the manager interacting with customers more. We had several good talks with him explaining any questions I had. Crowls nest activities are limited right now because of noise complaints from some neighbors. Also a new policy no photos for the bikini contest other than group photos of contestants, & final contestants. Some A-hole posted video on youtube of the bikini contest and it was noticed by chicas who some don't want their families know they work there. So thank you A-hole!. Exchange rates are 59.0 at Jenny's and 56.0 at BB and most other places. I just returned from a 10 day visit to BB with a couple other buddies. I've been going there over 10 years now at least twice a year or more. This visit was one of the best I've had. Since it's low season, it was only about 3/4 full most of the time. Customers were of all ages and races. The chicas were of all sizes and shapes a great variety for all. My problem was most of them know me with everyone begging for a session. My personal favorites include Deborah, Yolanda, China, Miguelina, Kathy, Endi, Francia, Stephanie, & Rebekka. The food was great in their restaurant with my favorite the chicken wings. In fact props to the cooks, as it was the best food I've had there. Also ventured out and ate at Sole Mio, as well as Happy Hippo, El Carey on the beach. My favorite on the beach is Estrella Del Mar with the blue building with yellow awnings. Food there is very good and cheap. El Carey is good but expensive. On Wednesday and Sundays places on the beach except El Carey only serve drinks, no food right now. Back to BB, the place is older, but the staff keeps it very clean with constant working to do so. A new water filtration system has been put in by Ted the Manager & works well. I had great hot water and water pressure in my room in the the section. Internet also works fantastic there. I noticed Ted the manager interacting with customers more. We had several good talks with him explaining any questions I had. Crowls nest activities are limited right now because of noise complaints from some neighbors. Also a new policy no photos for the bikini contest other than group photos of contestants, & final contestants. Some A-hole posted video on youtube of the bikini contest and it was noticed by chicas who some don't want their families know they work there. So thank you A-hole!. Exchange rates are 59.0 at Jenny's and 56.0 at BB and most other places. Also noticed most restaurants on the Malecon charges US prices $ and the exchange rate is 55.0, so bring $ when going to the Malecon. Pay pesos at BB both checkin and check out to save a few $.I'm glad you had a good time but never made sense to me. Is the girls get mad about taking pictures but they're in the freaking newsletter every day up on the stripper pole Wearing lingerie and all kinds of stuff so they already have pictures and there's many pictures of them of better quality and stuff than anything that we could take pictures of.

Not to mention all these girls gossip about each other and stuff so their families know what they do.

I have been many times to BB, last time was November last year. I tried to make a reservation for upcoming November and I was prompted for 100 $ deposit to make the reservation. I got 62.5 pesos to 1 american dollar. So I had no complaints about the prices. My first night there a chica overcharged me and the mamasan got involved and I got my money back. Arrive in SDQ and spend the first night in Boca Chica. I take a taxi and I typically stay at Hotel Garant & Suites a decent low cost hotel.

Next day take a taxi or Uber to the bus station in Santo Domingo, There is a Carbie Tours route that bypasses Santiago that leaves around noon. (saves you and hour or more).

Take a taxi for Puerto Plata bus station to BB.

When leaving BB taxi to the bus station then back to Boca Chica to wrap up the trip.

If you are only staying at BB, you should do some of the tours or go to Sosua. If you want to go to Sosua for the day you can get a motococho in the morning to the bus station and Caribe Tours drops you off close to the beach in Sosua. You can also motochocho back to BB from the PP bus station.

I've got to speak with Paul. He and I have been corresponding via email. Now, as far as the bedding usually when I get there, I always flip a bed any hotel I go to I'd check for bedbugs and stuff and if the blankets look dirty or stained or something, I'll go get replacements right away thankfully I never got scabies or anything from there like this one guy saying it's kind of scary.

I usually don't put much into complaints about the chicas either.

I haven't stayed there in years but we would always go to the bar and spend a few $$$ in an evening and get some takeout to go. The last few years they have made it known outside guests and their $$$ isn't welcome. I hope that policy is changing.

Been lurking in the shadows the last few years and have been reading the new posts about BB's. I've been having the same problems as everyone is that have been going here. The problem isn't the hotel but the girls. Hilda and Crystal have seem to let the girls do what they want and take over the hotel. Hopefully paul can right the ship before it sinks. What would really help would be to put the chica information back in the room books. The rates and hours of each of the 3 appointments. This way the girls and mamasans can't overcharge the guests. Kind of sucks that we the guests can't trust hilda and cystal anymore.
