Over the last days I met with several women that I mainly contacted true Thai Friendly.

Holiday Inn Sukhumvit by IHG
Highest quality of the three. Also the most expensive. Where I would take ATF if we went to vacation in Bangkok. Has a great location and every thing you want. Gym, pool, great restaurant for breakfast. Room laid out for a baller / shot caller!
Sukhumvit suites
Midlevel quality. Great location. Right next to train station: BTS? Great restaurant down stairs. Great value for the price. I have zero complaints.
Citin Sukhumvit 11
Lowest quality. All the basics you need to sleep, shit, shower. Lowest cost per night of the three. But, it is in the middle of the debauchery and if your are a early or light sleeper you are going to find the party noises disturbing. For me they were like a lullaby.
When I return, I will go to the Citin. I much prefer low places and this place sits right in the middle of the debauchery. Walk out the front door and there is debauchery on your right and debauchery on your left. It's my kind of place.

I used to love going to party on for 2 or 3 days a month, but this was in the early to mid 00's during the low season especially. Made visits here and there during the 10's, and didn't go at all during covid. Had some old friends in country and we hadn't been together in well over a decade so we decided to meet in Pattaya in mid January. I lasted 23 and a half hours. Talent level was poor. And Lordy, Beach Rd in the evening was appalling. The one bright spot is good Western food at good prices. Otherwise, no. Way prefer Bangkok, where I'm not exposed to a constant parade of old alcoholic punters walking the streets in their cargo shorts and wife beaters. Pattaya used to be charmingly sleaze, now just yuck!

On the other hand, Cockbang has stores and other business that are not available in Pattaya. So, I will always be visiting Cockbang for that purpose. I will no longer go without because I didn't want to endure the incredibly harsh conditions and lower standard of living the Cockbang present to me. No, walk along the ocean everyday. Seeing the ocean when you are just doing your errands or writing the Baht bus on Beach Road. I am sure elites love Cockbang. I see why. It's like any other world class city in the world filled with people that have in my opinion have more money than sense and that need prestige over high quality living.

I suppose everyone has their preferences My experiences do not invalidate anyone else's. But I would NEVER choose to post up in Cockbang or visit for more than a 6 - 7 days at a time. My opinion off the place ever since I touched down at BKK was simply confirmed by my extended state in Cockbang. It is a city I consider unlivable for me!

But if you like it, then I love it (for you)!Lower Sukhumvit? Haven't mongered there in well over a decade, 15 years is more like it. The only reason I go did that area is to eat Middle Eastern food which is fantastic. Oilies or online have been the way to go for ages.
Do you pay more for things in Bangkok? Well, that depends on where you live. If you live in a tourist area of course you do. But I question the sanity if any long-term resident who chooses to live in a tourist area. I live 15 minute BTS ride from Asoke. Neighborhood is fantastic, it's not a tourist area, great local food at normal prices, excellent supermarkets, an easy access to highways.
Bangkok offers so much more than Pattaya in every way.
And when you're talking about the gals, there is absolutely no contest. Again, if you're hunting so for you're going to see the same dark Isaan gals that you see in Pattaya, and yes they will be more expensive. But, start exploring the oilies and you'll see prettier, thinner, lighter skinned gals and behave in a bit more refined manner.
Learn to speak the language and things will really open up for you.
Bangkok is truly one of the world's great cities. An unbelievable food scene, fantastic coffee shops, bakeries, craft beer bars, etc. aside from just so so Mexican food, Bangkok offers incredible examples of cuisine from the world over. And in many cases at a price less than you would pay at origin. My one complaint would be that wine in good craft beer are definitely over taxed and overpriced. We have also developed an incredibly excellent coffee scene here. One other thing that was lacking when I arrived a couple of decades ago was good bakeries, and that has been remedied. It's world class and it has the benefit of available girls for a reasonable price.
The value for money in Bangkok as opposed to other world-class cities is still quite incredible. Is it as affordable as it was 25 years ago when I moved here? Well of course not, but nowhere else is.

Patters is a tourist town, and in my opinion worse than that a beach tourist town. Beach towns are wonderful when they're not crowded. Prachuap Kiri Khan town is absolutely wonderful, but Patters and places like Hua Hin are just not for me.
Are there downfalls of bangkok? Well yes, but some of the same downfalls exist down south on the beach, it's too hot in the air isn't great. But in the not too near future looking at spending the incredibly hot 3 months in a place like Japan and catch the end of ski season, the start of spring, and the opening of baseball season.
Elites? Well, one of the wonderful things about being over here is you can definitely live a better lifestyle than you can in the West for less money. 100k Baht a month provides a pretty amazing lifestyle in Bangkok. Of course all that depends on what your entertainment budget is. I'm in my late 50s and I'm not out banging away every night like I was 25 years ago, a couple times a week is fine for me so there's plenty of cash to spend on good food with friends. I couldn't imagine living here and having to eat street food everyday. Majority of my friends are around my age and we're all pretty long-term expats. None of us run the bars anymore. We don't find it the least bit interesting. We're all oily or online guys. We get together a couple of times a week, have a good dinner, and head out for a few great beers or share a bottle of wine. I don't think any of us would particularly like living down at the beach these days.
Traffic? Well, Beach and second Road are no picnic, but owning a motorbike in either place is the way to go.
I did not find the street girls to be attractive at all in Bangkok. Although I did try one of them. Overall I find the prices for commercial sex to be way higher in than Pattaya. I prefer being within a 10 minute walk of the ocean! It is really that simple.
Bangkok offers so much more than Pattaya in every way. With the exceptions of certain stores and businesses Cockbang does not have anything for me that Pattaya does not have.
I've never lived anyplace where I can literally walk to anything I truly need or want. Grocery stores, restaurants and entertainment. Transportation is easy and inexpensive. Baht Bus is 10 THB and I can get almost anyplace I need under 200 THB using Bolt. Food delivery, package delivery and household services are all available at reasonable prices. Let me also add that you can get a room within 10 minutes walk of the beach for under 10,000 THB / month or with a view from 12,000 - 15,000 THB / month. Do that in Cockbang? Oh no, you can't? Why? No beach!

I've traveled the world as a diplomat on an expense account. World class living is no stranger to me and I didn't have to pay for it. But for the value of my dollar I prefer living EXACTLY how I like to live. I would suggest that the OP riding down Pattaya as a tourist beach town take a look at other world class beaches around the world and the prices it takes to post up within a 10 minute walk of them. I have. Why? Because I like living that way. The numbers are not pretty! The OP likes world class city living. I like beach living. Pattaya is no world class beach. But it has the infrastructure that most beach towns do not share and it is a international city.

Below is picture I took while enjoying drinks and dinner at one of my favorite rooftop bars in Pattaya.
I wouldn't worry too much about going during June - August. It's not much worse than that at some point during the day you can expect there to be a heavy rain shower, hopefully during the night, but in the worst case lasting a couple of hours during the day, and at that time I'll simply stay inside. If caught outside in the rain, I'll jump into a massage shop / coffee shop / restaurant / etc. for an hour or two until the rain stops.
If only visiting for a few days or a week, it might be a bit annoying to lose opportunities due to the rain, but for a longer stay, IMO it doesn't matter much. Unless there's some specific activities you want to do that are not so nice at that time (e.g., diving), I'd go for what fits your own schedule best.Or you could just buy / use and umbrella. That I how I handled the rain while I was visiting CockBang. It allowed me to continue with my activities with relative dryness. It rained everyday until the last day during my last trip to Cockbang. After the first day I purchased one of those mini portable umbrellas for 100 THB from a street vendor.
