Moot or not, it is somewhat amusing that those who claim it is illegal are not able to point out anywhere it says so in the law, or even point out a single prosecuted case. If prostitution in Thailand is legal, why is there a whole written law about prostitution describing all the specific situations?

PREVENTION AND SUPPRESSION OF PROSTITUTION ACT be. E. 2539 (1996).

Prevention= the action of stopping something from happening or arising. Suppression / suppress= prevent the development, action, or expression of (a feeling, impulse, idea, etc.); restrain Prostitution= the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment.

Is there really a whole written law about this, but it is actually legal? I think not. The point of the law is to prevent and suppress prostitution. If it was legal, why does it need to be prevented and suppressed? Read the name of the Act. Common sense guys. Now let's exam the specific clauses.

Section 5. Any person who, for the purpose of prostitution, solicits, induces, introduces herself or himself to, follows or importunes a person in a street, public place or any other place, which is committed openly and shamelessly or causes nuisance to the public, shall be liable to a fine not exceeding one thousand Baht.

Example foreign man walks up to a lady on beach road or walking street or soi Bukao and asks how much for sex ST. The Thai girl replies with 1000ST. They agree. Even if no one is considered a nuisance, it's considered shameless in Thai culture. The fact this happened and someone may have witnessed it makes it shameless. They both consented. Boom! Section 5 law is broken.

Section 6. Any person who associates with another person in a prostitution establishment for the purpose of prostitution of oneself or another person shall be liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one month or to a fine not exceeding one thousand Baht or to both.

Example. A male customer enters a gents club with short time rooms on site. Has a drink with a Thai girl. The Thai girl and male customer talk about going short time upstairs in the short time room. The male customer asks how much for short time. The lady says 1000 Baht. The male customer then confirms what services he wants such as BBFS CIP or BBBJ. The lady agrees. Then the cashier informs the male customer the cost of the room is 500 Baht. The male customer agrees. The cashier then collects the fee for the room and often collects the ST feee too for the lady, but other times the lady collects it in the room. They go upstairs to the room and have sex. The guy then confirms what service he wants, offers an extra 500 Baht for BBFS and the lady agrees. The hotel in question has 10 other rooms rented by other ladies and of course is aware of the services being provided in their hotel. The hotel now is considered a prostitution establishment. Boom! Section 6 law is also broken.

These laws are all in the PREVENTION AND SUPPRESSION OF PROSTITUTION ACT be. E. 2539 (1996) and in the eyes of Thai law all fall under the definition of prostitution or they would not be in this act.

Just a curious observation I have made in the 21 months I have been posted up here in Thailand. In fact some people still call me a newbie and they don't even live in Thailand.

I think they are expensive but represent an excellent value due to their Salad and Soup bar. Because I find great salads are not easy to get in Pattaya.

Combined with one of the fish / steak menus, it was a pretty good deal for me and at the time there weren't many other choices for non-fried vegetables in non-farang restaurants, and definitely no decent vegetable buffet. Something happened though, and both quality and selection of vegetables deteriorated markedly. I now think some Thai friend might have mentioned Sizzler Thailand was bought up by some other company around that time, but not sure if I remember that right.

Fortunately now there are other choices available, though no good buffets that I know of. Closest thing is the general hotel buffet at places like the Marriot hotel on soi 22 (goji kitchen). Myself I like the getfresh chain, and even more, the salad restaurant near the bottom of soi 21, a little past tim horton's. Can't remember the name.

Let's start with a very basic concept. Your personal residence is not an investment. A investment pays you money and liability causes you to pay out money. Already I see that a certain International Trick does not even understand the most basic concept of wealth generation. Buy assets not liabilities until you own enough assets to generate the income to pay for the things you wish to consume.

You have proffered nothing to indicate it was a bad investment. You spoke out of turn without having any of the details. Tell me how much time do you spend in Pattaya? Of that how much time to you take out of your International Tricking time to spend looking in the rental and purchase markets. Can you give me a specific example? The tools need to calculate if a real estate purchase is a good deal are learned in elementary school. It is basic arithmetic. The concept I use is: Cash on Cash return. If you are not familiar with it google it.
1,900,000 THB /120 month = 16,000 THB / month (rounded up).
If you can rent the unit for 16,000 THB / month that is a 10.1% Cash on Cash return. How much are you getting from a Treasury Bill these days?
After 120 months the rental income will have returned all your invested capital in the unit and from that point on your return is infinite because you have zero invested in it. We haven't even factored in potential capital appreciation of the 10 years it takes to break even cash wise.
The unit in question was 100 m2 double unit with two full bathrooms that could be rented as is. 10th Floor. Good view out over Soi Bon Cock. 16,000 THB of rent a month in the area and building I looked would have been stretching it. But given the size and uniqueness of there might have been a lot of appeal to a Farang in the right mindset.

The other major thing that mother fuckers who don't know shit about investing in real estate in Thailand (or another place in the world is) the Farang Name concept. Finding Thai style condos in Farang Name is not easy. I speak from experience. If you look at returns over the past 50 years the stock market is a great place to have your money. That is providing your only pulling 4% the majority of years and maybe 5%, if you really need to. And I would say to be comfortable doing that you need 1. 5 to 2 large in your account.

Unless you're very familiar with Asians, I think you should be more worried. Thailand is your best bet. I'll always say Thailand cause that's what I know best, but I do believe it's the whole package. Not as cheap as the Philippines or Indonesia or Vietnam, but since you're thinking long term, a month's travel, then spread over that time, Thailand becomes the best value for money. It's easily the safest of all the countries in your list, and the food is the cheapest, and you'll be able to find very affordable accommodations. It certainly might pay if you know you are going to stay longer than 30 days to apply for the 90 day Tourist visa before you leave your country of origin. On my initial visit I did not do that. Delta almost did not let me board my flight. It took moving up two levels of supervision and me signing a waver acknowledging that I may be denied entry and that all costs to return immediately would be borne by me. I was NOT granted a new visa. I was granted an extension of stay for my current visa that was good for 90 days.

Here is what it says in my passport:

I was asking whether there was a way to get the full 90 days at the outset, without having to go to immigration for an extension.The OP needs to contact the location where he received his visa and ask the Thai Officials who issued his visa to him. I do not speak for the Kingdom of Thailand. I only speak about my personal experiences. When I have needed an extension of stay or renewal of my visa that I currently hold. I have either gone to CHONBURI IMMIGRATION myself. Or I have hired a visa agency here in Pattaya to assist me with the process.

I will break it down for you guys.

Visa exemption.

If your nationality qualifies you can enter Thailand with no visa. Depending on when you come, the officier will grant you either 30 days permission to stay or 60 days permission to stay under the current law. Then you can go to immigration and request an extension of stay for 30 more days. That giving you a total of 60 days or 90 days permission to stay.

TR (Singe entry).

This is the tourist visa. When it's issued by the Thai embassy or consulate it has an expiry date on it. That expiry date is the date that you need to use the visa by. Using the visa means you enter Thailand. Then at the airport the officer will stamp you in with 60 days permission to stay. Then you can go into immigration and apply for an extension of stay for 30 more days. This will make your total permission to stay 90 days.

For those of you that want to jump off the plane as a tourist and get 90 days permission to stay without doing an extension of stay at immigration, alas there is no tourist visa for that.

Longer term visa options for people who want to stay longer than this or stay with less hassle are as follows:

1. Elite visa.

2. MTV (Multiple entry tourist visa).

3. Non O visa based on retirement or marriage to a Thai.

4. Non ED visa to study Thai or boxing.

5. DTV visa.

6. LTR visa.
