Even those with lots of experience in the Dominican Republic and can learn from current information. But I stepped back from the forums for seven months. Returned, RTTF and learned nothing from except from a few posters that I respect. Most of my knowledge comes from personal conversations with those that I have met both on and off the forum.
The back and forth that some like to engage in with me is just verbal tennis. A logic exercise that helps me keep my English writing skills up while immersed in a country that speaks Spanish. It's fun, but I prefer posting information that someone else might find useful. Like my review of Dolce & Sopori. Yes it is my opinion but it is a fact that it is there. And I knew nothing about it until I happened upon it myself. And yet another critic chimes in with a problem that I am sharing information about Sosua (his kingdom). You would think he would be happy that someone is speaking positively of Sosua.

And within walking distance. For the adventurous you get off the strip and things open up for you even more. What I do notice that people tend to congregate where they are comfortable. My find a couple of days ago was Cafe Bar Otti. A German cafe that sits across (more or less) from the Alisha Beach hotel. What kills me is between the time I stayed at the Alisha Beach hotel and the Waterfront hotel how many times I walked by the place and did not even give it a second look. Must have been sleep walking.

There is a rhythm to The Sue. On a Sunday (which is my favorite day by the way) it is like any other town. Many of the businesses are closed. Streets are empty during the day and things are very quiet. Everyone is resting up after The Sue's biggest day / night: Saturday. In the evening there are still those out offering their social / sexual services. But the numbers are way down.
Day 1: I'm in The Sue. Tinder hit. I want (2 leches, two hours oral natural, leche where I want it). She agrees but all covered. I tell her all covered is fine. Customers preference, girls looks etc. Just like there isn't a going rate for all houses. We know the median prices bases on areas, schools, etc.
So if we look at girls that go to Bailes (the agreed best location to hunt I sosua for qualify girls) , we can say half of fhe girl at bailes will take 2500 or less ST, 80% would take 3000ST or less, 95% will take 3500ST or less. This leave us with only 5% who want more than $3500 pesos. Though that 5% will have some very attrative girls, the remaining 95% still have a good line up. I think its still a good line up if someone can get 19 girls out of 20 at Bailes.
If one guy just says he paid 3500 frankly nobody here will know if that girl true negotiated bottom price is 1500,200 or 2500. However, with more information on prices we can make an educated a guess on the going rate.

The whole going rate is in the end bullshit but it helps a newbie and / or first time person that's coming to the SU to gauge prices. Now that the monger has a sense of what these hunnies are tryng to get it's up to him to either negotiate down, pay the quote on quote paying rate (which basically means the fastest way to close the deal with the hunny) or pay even higher if she starts out asking for it.
What you just display is classic text book negotiating skils when high intangibles come into play. You know the language, study the culture, have time on your side and have plenty of other options to choose from if she doesn't agreed to your price so its not a big deal for you. The Sue is changing. Some think for the worst. Some think for the better. I am one of those that think The Sue has changed for the better. But the one thing that is for sure. It is going to continue to be there in one shape or form. And even if the controlling legal authorities manage to push prostitution (a legal activity in the entire Dominican Republic under certain conditions) action out of central part of the The Sue. It is just going to move to another place or another form.
But one of things that I really like about The Sue is the face to face street action. Not that a brother won't take a good referral from a trusted source (Shout out to Mr. T again! Even when I have to get business done, everything I need for my mobile office is there (banks, copy shop, office supplies). Grocery stores, liquor stores. And I can walk everywhere.
And then there are the girls. Notice how they are the last thing I mentioned. They are just a bonus. But even if there was not one single girl in The Sue. Puerto Plata is right down the street. And with my favorite dating app I can pull from there. And I did. So,

So I started my routine going out the country every month for at least a week. I haven't been to the Su. I've basically relaxed in Boca Chica sometimes bringing friends and sometimes being solo.

I am not going to try to sell anyone on the qualities of SDE (weekend warrior or expat). It was stated "to each their own". But personally if you are looking for quality experiences at good prices without the nose in the air attitudes of the chicas from across the river, don't sleep on SDE brothers. 70 a night is 2100/ USD a month. That should rent you a 160 square meter penthouse apartment of the most expensive areas of the city (notice I did not say best) over looking the city. You see, I know what things really cost here in the Dominican Republic and personally I do not find value sitting in traffic for hours so that I can say I live in Piantini. Now if you are riding around in uber all the time, and you are on vacation, you time value is very different than perhaps say mine. For me expensive is not always best.
My point is I am looking at value for me. And knowing what that is for me informs my opinions. I will give you an example of that. I do not go to Boca Chica or Juan Dolio for the beach anymore. If I want to go to the beach I make a road trip to one of my favorite ones and pay for the hotel to stay there. Why do I do that when Boca Chica and Juan Dolio is right down the road. Value. The best city living (in my opinion) in the Dominican Republic is in Santiago. Another place that I have spent extensive time staying with friends there (think weeks to a month at a time). Funny thing is I don't really live full-time in SDE anymore. I bounce all over the island. I've made investments (think ownership of real property and businesses) in the Dominican Republic. The Caribbean Lounge Grill has a draw. A unique menu filled with Haitian cuisine.
The two servers got me to stop buy and the owner was on the street trying to pull customers. I checked out the menu and they had some good deals on it. Especially their specials. But I didn't see anything else unique about it. And I did not partake. I was surprise at how many times I had passed there on my way to the Playero on the main drag and never paid it any mind other than to looking into the commercial plaza where it exists.
From what I see they have a foot traffic problem. And my suggestion to them is to create a draw. From what I see they have a lot of work to put in to actually solve it. But it appears they are working on it. It would appeal to me if they made the outdoor seating more attractive in the style of Fat Jesses (my favorite sandwich place) across from the Jolly Roger Bar and Grill and under my favorite bar in Sosua: The Mile High bar.
VIP is at least located on Pedro Clisante but about a block off the action. I liked the ambiance and the environment but still wouldn't change spots because I can walk out of the my favorite and be right in the middle of the action. During the day my favorite fruit cart is posted up across the street from VIP and just a few steps away from there is my one of my favorite breakfast spots Dolci e Sapori. I have reviewed all these spots and you will find them right here in Grownmans Boom Boom Room. The place where quality information can be posted and not get lost in the noise.
But I have to add another spot to my preferred breakfast locations Wings and Waffles. A menu with unique items. Your meal prepared for scratch. I had to wait 30 minutes for my biscuits because the chef does not make a huge batch and keep them warm. He makes them as he needs them. The hostess / server is pleasant and attentive and the outdoor seating attractive with TV's lining the walls. I got more food than I could eat and made a second meal out of it the next day and I didn't have to bother to go out.
I was on the street about 9:30 PM. It is slow for the chicas tonight. Police were out in force and I saw two chicas get locked up while I was walking back to my hotel. When you visit Sosua during the summer months the weather is horrible but the girls are hot (sexually) and hungry. Because not many guys are there. Sosua or Medellin
Over in the Colombia section of the forum there is more active posting about the Dominican Republic than there is in the Dominican Republic part of the forum. Maybe it means that the elite members of ISG have made a decision and voted with their feet? The criticism is universal and goes something along these lines: Lots of black people goto Sosua; I dont like socializing with black people; The quality of the girls are bad. Back in the day things were way better. Ok, to each their own.

I walk in and there are three barbers sitting in the chair chilling. The next up invites me to his chair and I ask him how much is a shave and haircut as I walk to his chair. They kind of tore the place down and move the barbershop a few yards over. Two Barbers sitting down, and all I wanted was a clean cut.
I remember the prices and knew I should have gotten my haircut in Boca Chica. I asked Barber how much and he said 700 pesos. I did not even negotiated. I just walked out. The one Barber, who remembered me told me that prices are different since the pandemic. So you go from 300 to 700 because of Covid? (Dominicans will think of anything to rationalize, charging you more). He offered me a cut for 500 pesos, but I was in motion of leaving and I kept my stride.
I walked up toward the other barbershop, and the barber quickly remembered me. I small talked with him then asked him how much for a haircut? He told me 400 pesos. I gave him 100 peso tip.
I missed the DR a little; but I what I don't miss is the hustle. Its typical for Dominican to lose business in attempt to overcharge you than just charge you a normal price.
Currently in Cali Colombia. The differences is like comparing a Camaro to a Lexus LS. I definitely prefer the smoother ride over the faster ride.
