got bored yesterday and while driving around in centro i stumbled onto san pablo street in pino suarez. the whole "scene" is approximately 4-5 blocks in length along san pablo street. there isn't much of a safety factor one would really have to worry about as this street is filled with stores (mostly bicycle stores), street vendors, restaurants and surprisingly even a large church. i'm sure the face of the street changes significantly once the sun goes down and the stores shut/street vendors rep001ter.

These two neighborhoods, which are right adjacent and south of the Zona Rosa/Paseo de la Reforma, are two little known gems in Mexico City. They are full of old colonial mansions and art deco buildings. They have a bohemian, artsy, cultural feel to them and are a very “cool” place to be if you like cultural. It is quite safe to walk here and there is comparatively little crime.

They are full of trees, parks, and lots of money is refurbishing these buildings and they are quickly becoming the place for younger, artsy, higher income professionals to be. I get to Mexico City quite a bit on business and am personally put off by the commercialism of the Zona Rosa/Paseo de la Reforma.

But Roma Norte & Condesa are close to the high-rise towers on Paseo and not far from either the Polanco or World Trade center business areas. Give these two neighborhoods a try if you are looking to get a little more Mexican/Intellectual/Artsty Fartsy feel to your trip.

I usually fly in to Mexico City in the morning, do some quick business and then hit Extreme Sports Spa on my first afternoon/evening in town. They have painted the name “Grupo Aires” on the brick wall by the entry gate. Ring the buzzer, get let in the courtyard, go up the flight of stairs, to what was once an apartment. Hey guys, I just got off the plane from Mexico City for the Labor Day weekend and overall it was a good, albeit expensive experience. I ended up having to pay 15 bucks an hour because I didn’t bother to write down all the good info provided by these posts on Mexico City and had to use the Internet at the hotel.

A couple of things I would like to share:

1) I went by Masaryk #25 ( a casa particular) near the Tony Romas at Presidente Masaryk #52 (across the street) on the way from the Airport. The driver got me a deal at 50 bucks for 40 minutes, but I did not follow up on it. The place is next to an OXXO Convenience store is on the on the 3rd floor of #25. It is generically know as the “escuela de chicas”. There were about 6 4-6 (10) when I was there and they tried to up sell me to 800 pesos until I told them about the deal that I negotiated through my airport cab driver. The place looked okay, but I did not partake.

2) Hotel Marquis is an excellent hotel overall and seems to be discreetly “chica friendly”, Befriend the bell captain and the security guys, a lot of them speak English and don’t mind chatting. Let them know you have baby coming by and tell her to dress discreetly. I had the same one visit me twice and the bell captain treated her like a total lady even offered to carry her bag.

3) The strip clubs have gotten a lot worse since I was last down there in 98. I wasn’t fleeced, much but they managed to screw me out of $20.00, while I clipped them for $200.00. Allow me to explain; they gave me a 2/1 for 120.00 centavos (about 6 dollars per beer) and I watched the dancers for a while. One of them seems to take an above average interest in me, so we discussed the need to get together. She stated that the house required $100 for her to leave and she required $150.00 for TLN. I asked for her number and asked whether she worked on the side and she said she did. So she quoted me $100 for a couple hours and management be damned. 4) The gal, discretion prohibits me from mentioning her name, was a hoot. Real GFE. She was 20, Morena, has a young kid and had been working at the strip club for 2 months. 6) Security: The cabbies get crabbier after hours and you need to definitely avoid the green and white or grey VW taxis as they are mostly pirates. The newer red and white ones are generally okay but watch the radio taxis as they are expensive. Look for

a. The Taximetro; their meter, insure they turn it on.
b. Their credentials
c. The older the driver the better.
d. The car, the newer ones are Red & White and are generally okay.

Mexico City is definitely not for the folks that need everything simple as there is definitely a learning curve. Still and all, a cool place. That’s about it. Enjoy.

Last week I visited La Merced. When you exit the metro at Pino Suarez station walk out to San Pablo street. You should turn right and immediately start looking. I was in the area once early in the morning 8-9A.M. and saw several ladies, but mostly they are there later in the afternoon 4-6 p.m. If you walk down San Pablo, as you pass the bicycle shops, the ladies line the streets. Be sure and tip the guy who cleans up, some change is all that is expected.
When you reach La Merced turn to the left. Sorry I was turned around and don't know if it was North, South or what. This street seemed to me a bit more sketchy. Both times were during the daylight hours. I don't know if I would try it after dark. This street had the girls more clustered around the entrances to the hotels.
I couldn't tell much difference in quality from one street to the next. Probably depends on the day or time, I don't know.
The ages seemed to range from 18 to 40. All shapes and sizes. But thin, young and pretty seemed rare. They were there but hard to find. Not a bad experience, but nothing spectacular. I wouldn't recomend this for a newbie, but I don't believe that it would be that difficult or dangerous if you kept your head and stayed alert. For the last couple of months, the strip club scene in Mexico City has been moving away from it's traditional location in Zona Rosa; sure, the "big three" are still there, namely Solid Gold, Men's Club and Royal Club, but in my opinion, the quality of the girls working in those clubs, specially Royal, has decreased significantly.
Some of this has to do with the fact that Reforma Avenue was blocked for almost two months by demonstrators supporting one of the presidential candidates. The number of customers in the Zona Rosa Rosa strips clubs decreased significatly because of this, and although the demostrations are over now, the clubs have not recovered.

The new "hot" area for the strips clubs is located in the San Angel neighborhood south of the city. There are at least a dozen clubs around an area no larger than one square mile. Of particular interest are the four clubs located near or along Avenida Insurgentes Sur; these clubs are "Solid Gold Sur", "Envidia", "Caligula" and "Garden Club". They are within walking distance from each other.

Solid Gold Sur is a branch of the original Solid Gold in Zona Rosa. The concept is the same: top class foreign girls, mostly from eastern Europe and South America, but no private rooms and no touching allowed. It is now almost impossible to get a date with any of these girls, at least without spending a lot, and I mean a lot, of time and money.

Envidia and Caligula are not top class clubs, but are very popular nonetheless. They are different from Solid Gold in that you can touch the girl during lap dances; there are private rooms and, if you can afford it and don't mind doing it in small, dark rooms, you can go all the way with almost any of the girls inside the club. The price is not exactly cheap though; you'll be paying 4000 pesos on average.

Garden is the newest of these clubs; it lies roughly in the same category as Envidia and Caligula. The thing that makes it different is the quality of the girls; on a good night --Thursday through Saturday-- you can find around 30 or 40 girls, most of them on their prime.

You can arrange to meet most of the girls from Envidia, Caligula and Garden at a later date; the price will be around 5000 pesos, plus dinner and drinks.

Mexico City is very expensive when it comes to mongering, I know. It is a pity, really.

Found a real stunner, Patricia 22 years old for 160 pesos + 50 or 60 for the hotel room short time. Fantastic service and no rush rush. She let you do everything you like except anal.

Absolutely safe area during day time. There are a few stunners around but most are quite average hookers imho. Good luck!

You found out the sad truth- Mexico City is about the worst place in Mexico for our hobby. The prices are ridiculous and the service is mediocre at best. If you go to the strips clubs to get laid, you might as well just hop on a plane to Vegas and go to the legal brothels. The prices are similar and you'll get better service in Vegas. The clubs are strictly for rich Mexicans, Business travelers with expense accounts and Asian tourists who don't understand the peso to yen exchange value.

There are bargains to be had in Mexico City, but it takes a lot of networking to get them in place since the city is so huge and you really need "to know someone who knows someone who knows someone..." Maybe after 5 or 6 visits, and extensive networking you'll be able to get some deals and not have to pay so much.

If you want a Mexican experience at an economic price, go further West and North. I live in Morelia, Michoacan and I can get a long, non-frugal night at a strip club with a FS ending for between 150-250 dollars and that's including plenty of drinks for you, a few privadas with the chicas, FS with a hot chica, taxi, motel de paso and a few tacos at the end. With a few tricks of the trade you can even get FS for 600 pesos (hotel included) with a cute chica and a decent dinner. In Mexico City, 600 pesos will barely get you past the front door. Also, there are plenty of freebies to be had in most areas of the repubic.

Mexico City is for sight-seeing and culture. The rest of Mexico is for the mongering.

Of the three women (these are women not girls and looked to be 30 plus years of age) available, only one was doable and the other two were only good for men that enjoy their women big and beefy. The Englishman decided no, so we did not partake.

The Englishman wants to try out the gentleman's club he heard about (eventhough I warned him what a rip-off they are). Our taxi drive sucked so he could not find it with just the street and building number (try to get as much location information as possible because Mexico City is huge, the streets and numbering are insane and it just makes no sense to think they know everything about the city). So, we decide to have him drop us off in the Zona Rosa. The cost for driving us from Claudia back to the airport area for Casa Munecas and back again to the Zona Rosa turned out to be $500 pesos. After dinner at Sanborn's, we are informed that the club he wanted to visit was not open on Saturdays and Sundays. We make our way to the nearby Sambuka.

Do not go to Sambuka unless you have money to burn. On the up side, the girls are GORGEOUS! Of course, that only works to distract you as they fleece you. We first get directed to a smaller table and I order a Corona. Then Englishman orders 20 year old scotch and suddenly we are moved to a bigger table and women immediately latch on to us. I end up with a HOT 21 year old with a stage name of Melissa who was from Guadalajara. I let her order drinks twice and she orders Bailey's both times. We both got table dances (done by purchasing 250 pesos tickets) and the dance was definitely hot. I asked earlier whether the private dance included sex and she basically informed me that I could only get a hand job. My spider-sense was tingling (I admit I am a cheap bastard) and I convinced the Englishman to get the bill and go. Our drink tab came out to $2111 pesos (the Baileys ran $525 pesos each)! We paid $2200 and got the hell out of dodge. Hailing an Eco-Taxi (green VW Beatle) we made it back to the airport with the last $120 pesos that the Englisman had left.

I'm sorry you were ripped off at that strip club. As a basic rule, ALWAYS AVOID ZONA ROSA STRIP CLUBS. Girls, waiters, usherers, security, et al ALWAYS try to fleece you, asking "propina" for this, for that. It's just how those joints operate. And tourists are considered fair game among locals.

It's been said before in this forum:

Stay away from zona rosa strip clubs, they're a total rip off.

If you want to go to a safer strip club, you should try ENVIDIA, or SOLID GOLD in San Angel neighborhood. A liitle more expensive, but also a little more safe for mongers. Keep in mind though, a "table dance" club it's a place where it always pays off not let your guard down when dealing with chicas and personnel.

If you want to get laid with a hot stripper girl, I think Henry's approach works best: try to befriend the chica, to get her to give you her number, see if she accepts to see you on her free time of day. If you can earn her trust, there's good chances you'll be rewarded. It's not cheap business, though.

Mexico City is expensive business for mongering. As always, it's best to get trustworthy locals to show you around.

prostitution is legal in mexico, but pandering is not. so, you and the chica are safe, but her "representative" is not because he is pimping her out.

their law on prostitution makes a lot more sense than ours in the states. what happens between two consenting adults is nobody's business, but the pimp gets hassled so as to limit the exploitation of these girls (in theory it works like that, but not always.)

the fine line is in the fact that while the act of exchanging money for sex is legal, the bar or club where you find the girl, the hotel where you take her and/or the escort service that sends her to you are all walking a very thin legal tightrope. that's why you'll see clubs raided, hotels raided and escort services shut down, but you'll never see us mongers horded into the back of police cars or the chicas being taken to the station (unless you are dealing with **** prostitution- in which case you will be roughly placed below the prison.) the zonas of tolerancia refer to areas where many adult-themed clubs have been zoned away from residencial areas. these places are often well protected from the pandering laws by bribes and kick backs to local politicians.

no, no, no.... prostitution is not legal in mexico neither solicitation, some people believe it is, but it is not.

you could actually be fined for being with a prostitute, and they could take you to the police station. "zonas of tolerancia" is where sexual oriented business is partly allowed, and you could hook up with a prostitute without problems. for example in mexico city "la merced" or "sullivan" are examples of those zones.

clubs is a different story, owners might bribe authorities and in this way they pretend nothing is happening inside the clubs.

In a city so big and with so much culture and oppurtunities for fun, the mongering scene is awful- one of the worst in all of Mexico unless you are willing to pay U.S. prices for Mexican chicas. I would recommend getting on a bus and going about an hour in any direction to the next large city. You will undoubtedly find better service at much better prices than in El D.F.

Mexico city is also famous for escorts and prostitutes that druged their customers. But drugging them in matter that either they would put them in a hospital or kill them out right.
No one investigated this kind of murders (one less john and things like that) till they did it to a couple of influential types.
Some street walkers will be carrying ice picks with them, to protect themselves and rob you too. The moment they get in the car they will just stick the pick in your leg.
And so on and so on...
A city of 30 million has 30,000 stories to tell per day.....

Yes, as it happens everywhere, there is a middle ground for locals, like here in my own city of Monterrey.
But as it is, for example here in Mty the Infinito and Matehuala are considered verboten to many locals, both being origin to many urban legends.
If you ask for example as an American at your 5 star hotel if you can go to the Infinito club they'll tell you "you can't go there, it is not safe", which is not true... they just don't know.
Thing is, in Mexico city there are other factors: the lower than middl ground clubs (and still lower), casa de citas, MPs are no where to be found in central Mexico City and yes, there are many, but anything outside the main part of the city, can be dangerous to Americans, cause there is a lot of antiAmerican feelings going on there, much more than in the rest of the country.

I totally dont agree with some posts here, but hey, Mexico City might not be the best place but there are tons of possibilities. Also Mexico City is NOT as dangerous as everybody is thinking. As long as you take your precautions you will be absolutely fine. I am living in Mexico for a year now. It might be a city to hate or love but if you know you way around you will enjoy it. SW is of course more risky then the casa the citas. In those places you will be absolutely fine. I can give you a list with places but if you read back in the forum you will find a couple.

There are many many casa de citas. If you are willing to pay around a 600 or 700 pesos or so. In every single part of the city you will find these places. Not all of them are good and for sure not all of them give you good quality for the money. You just have to know where to go. Sometimes you are lucky and sometimes you will find nothing.

About Sullivan, take circuito interior and exit on Sullivan. You will find them at the beginning but remember only later in the evening. Once you get closer to Insurgentes you will not find anything. Before 9PM nothing is happening. Avoid fridays and saturdays because those days are too busy. 300 cars waiting in line to pick up a chica.

So you are right, it doesnt make sence because it is not true. I personally love Mexico City. As said it might not be the best place but it is still more then worth it. Maybe this info will help you. Enjoy your stay!

Once again, I dont agree. You will find many many places. Also in central Mexico City. Every colonia has its places. One better then the other. Dont behave like a typical tourist. Get your information before you go and just behave normal. Dont ask taxi drivers or hotel receptionists. This forum is ideal to get all the info you need. While I have to say that Carlos is mostly correct, I also have to point out that all of the crime stories that I have heard regarding Mexico City have been second hand accounts and/or news stories. I have visited Mexico City numerous times and actually had lived in the D.F. for about 2 months and , except for the fleecing of horny men at the strip clubs, I have never even seen a crime in progress- And I'm always out on the street at all hours.

As a general rule in Mexico- Never, ever trust anyone who is TOO eager to help you. Never let anyone in your hotel room without the hotel knowing there is someone in your hotel room. Tip everybody at your hotel very well and promise to come back and tip some more. And, again- trust no one.

Mexico City IS indeed dangerous, but I suspect that any intelligent visitor from a big US city would most likely be safe. It's just a matter of knowing where you're going and not making yourself an inviting target. Sometimes us gringos let our guards down on vacation or think that Mexico City is like the rest of Mexico, which is usually very safe. So, if you keep your guard up and don't do anything that you wouldn't do in, say, the Southside of Chicago, you should be very safe.

This is the first time someone is dead on.
Tipping in Mexico City has to be done without hesitation and be generous.
On other forums I post at, the mongers always complain about tipping in Mexico City, even at the posh high class hotels for extra sevices like extra towels or getting the front door open for you, or the bell boys, concierge, etc.
Hell, at the moderate priced hotels this is not an incentive, it is life saving.
They will be on the lookout for you for all the reasons Mill says in his post.

Crime: Mill it is so pletiful, that no one reports it and no news media reports it anymore. People I know from my job back in the late 90's have been victims of express kidnappings. One was held in his room for 2 days till they milked his credit cards dry and another one, a female companion from my job, was kidnapped and left alone in the worst part of the airport area.
So I guess you had no idea of the American that was kidnapped while driving in a Taxi and shot, or the one that was mugged and shot to death in front of his wife because he refuesed to surrender his watch.... there are so many horror stories down there.
Like I said in one of my PMs to you and you yourself acknowldege here too, is that you know your way around, contrary to other mongers that do not.

Body guards in full body armour and submachine gun at every gas station (to prevent customers being robbed off their wallet and car as soon as they roll down the window to order gas), quasi legal to run ANY red light as soon as its dark (if you stop, for sure you'll get mugged!), traps all over the streets to incapacitate cars - and then robbers awaiting when the car breaks down, corrupt Cops and everybody else - Jeez DF IS a dump as far as I'm conerned - and a place I definitely would not go to for mongering.

Of course, I am not doubting that there is crime in Mexico City- and lots of it. I'm just citing my first hand experience. In 2 months of living there and at least 50 trips there over the last few years, I have never personally seen a crime take place. Of course, I have heard the stories and newspaper accounts, though, and I take them to be true. In a city of about 30 million people you WILL have crime- and lots of it. When I decided to go to Mexico City for the first time, my Mexican friends practically begged me not to go because I'd be mugged, beaten, kidnapped, my organs harvested, etc... As I got off at the bus terminal I was expecting a scene from Mad Max with flaming arrows being shot at me and gangs of freaks trying to steal my bottle of water. What I found, though, was a big city that has pockets of crime, much like most big cities. What makes it appear so much worse is that it stands out in contrast compared to most Mexican cities.

And I know that most of the targets are the same Mexican locals who live there. And, Carlos, I am also aware of the incident against the American just as I'm aware of the rampant drug cartels and executions in Monterrey. Sometimes, no matter where you are, you will bump into crime. Its every traveller's job to try his best to stay out of situations which could put him into danger. Mexico City is a lot safer if you make it safe for yourself, but nothing is 100 %.

Still, though, Mexico City is the pits for mongering and should be avoided if possible. I LOVE the anthros and the museums, but that's it. The non-pro atmosphere is great. But for working chicas at better prices and in a safer environment, go anywhere else in Mexico. However, if you must go to Mexico City:

*Avoid non-tourist areas. There's nothing to see there anyway
*Leave all valuables and passport in the hotel safe.
*Hide your cash in your shoes or other non-accessible areas (!) I hid my money, taped to the inside of my sock so that, even if my would-be assailant took my shoes from me- they still wouldn't see the money. And I also made a compartment for my cash in my belt.
*Dress as much like a bum as possible. Torn jeans and dirty sneakers do the trick.
*Don't act like a tourist.
*NEVER go anywhere with those guys in the Zona Rosa who want to take you to the best strip club in all of Mexico. Even if they are on the up-and-up, you will still get ripped off by the club.
*Take your hotel taxi. And have them pick you up as well. It's a a lot more expensive, but also a lot safer.
*Buy a pre-paid Mexican cell phone and program it with emergency numbers and safe taxi drivers' numbers. Even if the phone deactivates between trips, you can always reactivate it for 100 pesos.
*Be 6 ft 3 inches tall, weigh 265 lbs and be an ex-boxer like me. LOL.

Crime: Mill it is so pletiful, that no one reports it and no news media reports it anymore. People I know from my job back in the late 90's have been victims of express kidnappings. One was held in his room for 2 days till they milked his credit cards dry and another one, a female companion from my job, was kidnapped and left alone in the worst part of the airport area.
So I guess you had no idea of the American that was kidnapped while driving in a Taxi and shot, or the one that was mugged and shot to death in front of his wife because he refuesed to surrender his watch.... there are so many horror stories down there.
Like I said in one of my PMs to you and you yourself acknowldege here too, is that you know your way around, contrary to other mongers that do not.
You should tell people, cause you know Mexico City better than I do, to thread carefully, not just "cause it never happened to me" does not erase the fact the Mexico City is one of the most dangerous ones in the world.

My advice would be, don't be paranoid. I mean, somebody said they did not feel safe at La Merced. I think that is one of the less likely places something would happen to you, unless you act like a clueless tourist. Maybe you think you'll get arrested. The cops are just playing their part of the game; you just have to play yours and not feel intimidated by them; do not even regard them.

i think you are completely right. however, as carlos stated, many crimes against property in mexico city aren't reported and that throws off the statistics. the only statistics that can be relied upon are the ones regarding violent crime. and, according, to the un crime comission mexico actually has a higher murder rate than the u.s. the united states, though, dwarves most countries with regard to theft and robbery.

i'm also a native of chicago and, eventhough i was a victim of an apartment theft in chicago, i never felt unsafe just as i never felt unsafe in mexico city. just watch what you're doing and where you're going and you'll be safe.

I deal with the crime by staying alert. I have a plan if something goes wrong. I don't know if it will work, but it involves me losing my money and running like hell. That is what makes the city interesting.

i answered your post yesterday and as said there is enough choice for every single budget. casa de citas are rep001tered all over the city. so also in the city centre. tons of them, some better then the other but in general if you want something cheaper then the expensive escort services this is the way to go. expect to pay something between 400 and a 1000 pesos.

I have been to exteme sports spa about 7 times. The talent used to be real good there but it has gone down hill somewhat. Hell i may even go there tonight after work :)

I believe Excess and Dow Jones, which is across the street are still open. I call these gringo clubs, which are expensive and with lots of rules. North of Tlalnepantla on Gustavo Baz, there are three strip clubs all close together. One is called Carosel and most taxis know this one. Carosel is usually full of gorditas but it has a 5 minute private for 300 pesos. Trebal is just south and it has decent looking girls and it has two songs for 200. The place in between has one song per 100. All of these places have no rules but YM will V. I have gotten super BBBJ in these places for a 200 peso tip and even have has ATM more than once. Drinks are cheap 30-40 and no cover and they ar eopen during the day. These are not true strip clubs because the girls only strip once per hour and the rest is couple dancing. I am an anglo looking person who speaks some Spanish and I do not go alone during night. I take a taxi driver with me and buy him drinks. I have not seen hardly any gringos in these places but I have gone often and had NO problems or even any bad eyes. At the entrance of the building some old guy, whom I first thought was a beggar, asks for your name and calls upstairs to announce you. You climb 2 flights of stairs and end up in front of a white door, again with no sign. I thought I was in the wrong place for a moment.

The guy who opened the door ignored me for the next 15 minutes as he was busy playing with his computer. I could see a room on the left with girls waiting, not sure what the deal was. There was 1 other customer waiting and 1 leaving and I saw 4 girls. Finally he called a chica over, never asked me if I liked her or gave me a choice, and she came to explain the rates, 800 for handjob, 1000 for oral, 1200 for completo. She was not bad looking so I chose completo, she disappeared for a while, then reappeared and brought me to a dimly lighted minuscule room with a massage table and pretty much nothing else.

I was in D.F. for about 4 days and here is a quick overview of what I sampled.
I stayed at the Hotel Marlowe. Decent hotel by the Bellas Artes area. I usually stay around the Zocalo and probably will move back to that area. I enjoy the people watching at night. The Marlowe is on a side street and while I felt safe, there is just not that much activity after 10 pm.
There is the Kit Kat club adjacent to the Hotel. Not much to choose from and I only stayed about 10 minutes. I moved down the block to Mr Lee's. It is a bar where the women dance with the men and I have heard that they will leave to go to your hotel with you. Probably true, but it was crowded and on a Saturday night. I didn't see anything that tripped my trigger so I moved on.
There are strip clubs on about every block. None great and all were priced about like US clubs. I thought this was a little over the line for the quality IMHO. If you go two blocks past the hotel towards the Sheraton then keep going one block past the OXXO store you will see a club on the left. It had the best quality of them all. The prices were actually a little cheaper. You might try that one. Again, it was crowded and the women were snatched up by the bar patrons for drinks at the tables. I don't speak Spanish so I was at a disadvantage here so I only hung around about an hour.

I ended up heading back to the hotel around 3am. I asked the gentleman guarding the hotel door about a lady and he smiled and walked me to the desk. The night manager could speak english and he told me $800mx. We agreed on $600mx, 20-25 years old and thin. I went to my room and about 30 minutes later she showed up. She was probably closer to 30 but she was thin, about a 7 in looks and 7.5 on the body. It wasn't a true GFE and everything was covered (which is what I do) but not bad. The manager told me she was for an hour, she said she was for 1 pop. It was late and one time was fine with me. Overall a good experience but I didn't do it again.

I made my way to the La Merced area several times. If you walk all the way from the Pino Suarez metro exit to the Market then walk north, you will find a great variety to choose from. I moved to Mexico City six month ago (and will be here for another two years for work). The city is not as dangerous as some people would think. Just use common sense and don't start walking around at night in certain area's.

I tried the escort agencies when I was here on my first trip and staying in Camino Real. No problem inviting chica's to your room even at night. Not bad but now I live in an appartment here and some girls only want to meet in hotelrooms.

Alot of the Mexicans go to the massage parlors where you go in, get a beer and sit down and relax. You can then choose from a line up of girls and go to the room for a massage. This is always with happy end and depending on what you tip it will be a handjob or a blowjob. These places can be found all over town (don't go to the ESS since it's a rip off joint). One I like to frequent is in the area Lomas de Chapultepec. Cheaper than ESS, but I went in the first time with some Mexicans who are regulars there so maybe that affected the price asked. Lomas de Chapultepec is an area wit alot of offices but you would be surprised how many men go for a relaxing 'massage' at lunch time (lunch time is from 2pm till 4pm here so you have some time).

There's also a nice place on Presidente Maseryk next to the Oxo store (close to the Nikko and other hotels there). It's a bit pricier but they have real lookers sometimes (a bit hit and miss) and if you speak some Spanish and can convince the owner you live in DF (and are not a tourist) better prices can be get.

Finally, if you have game and want to put a little more effort into it, go to Condessa at night. It's a party area and you will find alot of girls in the clubs (need to have game to pull them but you will find alot of them are willing to check out a guero (blond guy) and don't even ask for money). First of all Polanco is perfectly fine. I lived there 3 years without having any problems. Walking out during the night is fine, no worries. The taxis in front of your hotel are a total rip off so just walk to the place. 10 minutes from Nikko.

Your best bet is a place on Masaryk (see report somewhere on this page). Dont know the number but its close to corner Masaryk/Mariano Escobedo. Entrance is right next to Oxxo. You will see a guy sitting there. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor. Dont pay more then 500 pesos. The poster below on this page is talking about 600 but make sure you stick to 500. Even if you dont speak spanish. You can be lucky here finding a beauty. If there is nothing you like, leave and come back later. Sometimes they have up to 15 girls.

Still, though, Mexico City is the pits for mongering and should be avoided if possible. I LOVE the anthros and the museums, but that's it. The non-pro atmosphere is great. *Avoid non-tourist areas. There's nothing to see there anyway

*NEVER go anywhere with those guys in the Zona Rosa who want to take you to the best strip club in all of Mexico. Even if they are on the up-and-up, you will still get ripped off by the club.
*Take your hotel taxi. And have them pick you up as well. It's a a lot more expensive, but also a lot safer.
*Buy a pre-paid Mexican cell phone and program it with emergency numbers and safe taxi drivers' numbers. Even if the phone deactivates between trips, you can always reactivate it for 100 pesos.
*Be 6 ft 3 inches tall, weigh 265 lbs and be an ex-boxer like me. LOL.

I used to stay at the JW Marriott all the time. Beautiful hotel. The Masaryk 25 (oxxo) brothel is only a 10 minute walk, through a lovely and safe neighborhood from the JW Marriott. Take a taxi from the airport. When you exit the baggage claim look immediately to your left. You will see two windows with pictures of vans and taxis. Tell them where you are going and they will tell you how much. One window is cheaper than the other, don't remember which one. They will give you a ticket and you turn around and walk to the opposite end of the airport. I think it is exit 6? there you will find the taxi's. Give them your ticket and they will take you to your hotel. It's not the cheapest way, but until you get your feet wet it is safe and quick.

You can get money from your atm or exchange at most banks. The airport has plenty of exchange places before and after you get your bags. This will get you started and they are all approximately the same rate.

Read back in the forum for the detail on the night life. Keep your head and don't be drunk and stupid. You can mitigate a lot of the danger by keeping your head. be safe, stay mostly sober, have fun.

It seems to be around a kilometer from the Zocalo to the Pino Suarez metro stop. I've walked it myself and it is not bad. I prefer the metro because I'm getting lazy. I believe it runs until around midnight. I have never been to the merced at night. I was thinking about trying it when I am there in a few weeks. If you do or have already done it let me know. I passed through the area in a taxi from the airport around midnight once and was surprised at the number of women out. Not as much as the day but probably 1/2 the amount.

I just spent 2 days in Mexico City. Following a couple of recent posts, I went checking the street scene at La Merced.

Action is on both sides of the avenue that runs between metro stations Pino Suarez and Merced.
The whole surrounding area (between Av. Pino Suarez and La Merced) hosts a big market, extremely crowded till evening.
My understanding is that there are girls from noon till midnight.

To go there walking, you can follow Pino Suarez south from Zocalo for less than 1 km (crowded at day, very lonely at late night). When at PS metro station, turn left. La Merced is maybe 1km away.
If you are on Av. Reforma, a more direct way is to walk straight east starting from Morelos, then Victoria and Uruguay, but I warn you that at night it is not for fainted hearths. The safest path is to follow Juarez to Zocalo and then right to Pino suarez. Alternatively, start from Morelos and then, when the streets become too dark, deviate a cpl of blocks left.
If you are in Zona Rosa, instead, walk following the big avenue Chapultepec.
If go back at late night along the same streets, there are also lots of places that make "street food", typically tacos. This will nicely complement a truely "off-track" experience.

When at station PS, walk 2-3 blocks east towards La Merced and you meet a first group of very tall provocative girls. Warning: these are TVs.
Dont worry and go on. After 100 meters you can start picking.
Until La Merced metro station, you will meet maybe 50 girls lined up.

I would add that when you go from the P.S. metro station to Merced metro station, turn and walk North. There are more along Venestiano Carranza, both sides of the street. I would say that Mexico is overpriced (at least Mexico city), If u r trying to get the best for your money your are going to be a little dissapointed.

Clubs/escorts would be a good option if you are looking for quality, but an Argentinian/Brazilian girl in Mexico cost two/three/four times more than in their original countries. The escorts prices are around 2000 pesos.

Regarding massages, I guess there are some options around 1000 pesos.

There are of course cheap options like "La Merced" but the quality is nothing more than a 6. "Sullivan" offer as well some options but do not expect high quality, I was there several years ago and I paid 300 pesos I guess that current prices should be around 350-400 pesos.

I haven't been to mexico for about 3/4 years but when I did I moved around alot.

I've mentioned before that mexico and mexico city are huge disappointments when it comes to mongering. Besides that issue mexico and mexicans are great.

Most towns in mexico have a casa de citas or some kind of action. I will list what I found.

Mexico city - I went to la merced/pino suarez. I saw alot of girls I was into but I also saw tons of cops. I still say you may or may not have trouble with cops. I've asked many mexicans and they tell me the same thing. It's like being in nyc in the 70's . If you keep it on the down low you will probably be fine but you cannot be assured.


Morelia- There is an area around the old bus station where you can find SW's for around $35 US. There are also higher end strip clubs outside of town. Expect to pay alot due to the influx of drug money in michoacan.

San cristobal (chiapis)- Just outside of town there is a little redlight area with bars/rooms. Arrange with the cab to wait for you or else you might feel a little uncomfortable. $30/35

Zihuatenejo/xtapa - Zihuat is where you want to be. There is that hotel "azul or something" for $70 US . There is also a street in the cenrto which at night hosts a few bars with on site beds etc. But be careful of the transvestite bars. I dont know the prices sorry.

Oaxaca city- Just ask a cab driver. One took me to a casa de citas not far from the centro. It even had a red light outside. Oaxaca is sleazy ask around..great food too.

Puerto escondidio - Tonys bar off the highway. Its a tourist trap if you ask me but most of mexico is. $70 + drinks and tips etc. etc.


Remember this was a few years ago. Mexico needs to get it together when it comes to mongering. I'd love to spend a month in mexico city banging little indian women (which I love) but pfp doesn't exist like is does further south. Also there is alot of money in mexico so you are not special and the service is really half assed.

Bottom line don't go to mexico just to get laid. Go for other reasons and when it happens enjoy that it does. No expectations.

As others have said there are many clubs near the Shearton Centro (which may change names soon). Most are low rent and expensive.

Expect to pay 20 or so to enter, 20-25 a drink. Full Service will set you back 100-200 usd and the girls are low 4's at best. You are much better off using a service or using the classifed ads from the refoma or other newspapers.

heheheh your mileage won't vary much....sit down and have 2 beer, buy 3 for the girl and you will get a bill for about 3-4 thousand pesos!!

Better to go a few blocks away, club is called Solid Gold, at Londres 156. Beer is about 70 pesos, dances are 230 pesos, they have more or less a continuous show. There is a 200 peso covercharge, but your bill will not be padded on with another 50% in table charges, service charges, charges for the charges, etc. The dancers are very friendly and good looking. They will sit with you and want a dance, but I have never been asked to buy them the little glass of juice which costs $250 pesos like you get in the other clubs.

I don't think any of the street touts will take you there though.

I think a lot of the strip clubs are in an area called San Angel (?), which, I think, is in the south area of Insurgentes. Prety much all the strip clubs in the Zona Rosa area are for tourists and non-Mexico City Mexicans i.e. for those who don't know better or don't mind paying over the top.

There is a club just off of the Zona Rosa, called Club Venecia (do a search) . A couple of years ago I dropped in but didn't stay; there were 5-6 girls available for "massage" as well as a bar. I went there early on a Monday or a Tuesday night, the place was pretty dead and I didn't stay. I keep meaning to go back and try it again but just haven't gotten around to it.

One point in its favour is that no Zona Rosa street touts tried to take me there. Those guys always want to take me to one of two places - Praga and Oxford. I've been to both and it took all my courage just to stay for one beer, that's how bad those places are for quality of girls, price of a beer, and feeling of safety. So I strongly recommend to stay away from those places.

Richi"Casa de citas" is a brothel, they do not usually allow you to take the girl out. You choose the girl from the staff present at the time and they provide a room insite.

If you don't know a "casa de citas" already you could find ads in the newspaper they do not provide an adress but a telephone number were you call to obtain an adress. Some have a cover or entrance fee ($10 most of them)but it includes a cocktail as you make your selection.

Best bet for a classified ads is at the "El Universal" but sorry, no english edition. Anyway try your chances with your spanish at

Then look for the "aviso oportuno" section and then "adultos". Some will be call girls ads, some others "casa de citas".

I would not recommend "casa the citas" as a good mongering place since they may be dangerous specially for not spanish speaking visitors, you can get trapped inside, be subject to extortion and possible kidnapped.

You better try one of the call girls ads, look for the ones that say English Spoken and also there are many online sites for escorts at Mexico City.

Discretion from frontdesk hotel clerks is usual but you could get another hotel away from your family.

As a local "chilango" I will try to address some of the questions made recently about this crazy city:

1) Strip clubs:

There are all kind and prices, but here is a list:

Starting from top quality (also most expensive)

Solid Gold: There are two, one in zona Rosa and the other at the south in Insurgentes sur... very nice girls, mostly foreign but nothing else than see and touch.

Mens Club: Same as Solid Gold, also two locations near Zona Rosa and in Revolucion

In Insurgentes Sur there are a couple of places not as expensive as the above:

Caligula: not as nice, but more affordable

Garden: prices also affordable, nice girls, there is a chica fee for take-aways. I met a Colombian girl once... I think there is an option for rooms inside the club.

Exxcess at the north part of the cityo , on Periferico, hard core
At Zona Rosa there are 3/4 places... also hard core

All the above places are very well know, any taxi will be able to take you. Please avoid using taxis from the street, take it from your hotel or ask the hotel to call a taxi (keep yourselves safe)

Kind of get it up, get in, get it out, don't mess my hair doo. Anyway if you are just there for some quick service at a low price go to the metro (subway) station Merced. From the station there is a major avenue and you can just walk up the streets that run off this street or simply ask one of the many people selling things at the very large mercado there. Donde estan las prostitutas. I think in the day time there were about 40 standing out on the streets around there and there are more at night time. It is relatively safe even in the pm with many policia walking the beat in and around. No it is legal and they don't hassel you. Do remember that the subway shuts off at 12 am so you want to get back on before like 1130 if your staying close by.

As for the women I am really fussy but I found a nice 18 ish senorita (about an 8 + or. 1/2 and the rate was 150 pesos for a quick 15 minutes. It was good enough for me but that is minimal service, 50 more for doggy and if you want the 1/2 hour it is basically full service for 550 pesos.

I am just replying to your gripe about Chics at merced and their cost ect.

I have read your blurb about casa de citas and it seems that you are familiar with them and then you go on to talk about how you prefer personal adds or call girls and I am like blown away by your ingnorance. To be blunt .... you and I are different. I do not like personal adds or call girls. You never know who you are talking to and exactly what you are going to get. Not for me. Metro Merced as I explained is lower cost and yes there are some women who are on the lower end of the scale. You think that every call girl is beautiful or every personal add is giving the goods on the chic that you are going to see. As I explained the chic I picked up was 18 ish and I would give her body a 9 and her face and 8. I also explained that I am fussy. She was a chic that most would like to pick up.

The good thing about this spot (merced) is that it is a spot that is relatively free of crime due to all the cops (they don´t hassle you just make sure that nobody is getting robbed or beat up) and there are some cheap rooms near by (included in the 150 peso price) (she changed the sheets on the bed and there was a bathroom soap etc) and there are like sometimes 50 or 60 women to choose from on those blocks. I saw your video 0f about 7 women but I have seen some nice looking women out there.

The other good thing is that you are not trapped in a bar and you just talk to the ones you want to. If you feel comfortable you go with them and if not you check out the others or just jump on the subway and go.

Each to his own I would say. There is getting to be lots of info here for anyone to make their own choice according to their own tastes.

My one comment would be that whatever you choose, don't drop your guard. There are going to be crooks around all those places, whether SW's, lapdance bars, or escorts. I have read on some of the Spanish forums of some of the lapdance bars ripping the clients off, also how the cops have ripped off one of the foreign escorts when they were leaving their hotel. Don't know about the Niko.

There are some girls on Divas and MexicoBaires who advertise that they speak English. Ariana is one that comes to mind. I haven't met her but the Mexican boards speak highly of her. I'm asian, and know only enough basic spanish to where it wouldn't even help, and la merced is fine. My only advice is to bring a calculator, which you should carry anyway, the girls (at least the ones I've seen, the cute ones) have a relatively similar starting price anyway, and then afterward you can go over options and just get them punch it into the calculator.

I wouldn't call it completely safe, because that would be a lie, but its not really something that factor in, its scarier crossing the street honestly.

getting there: the pino suarez subway stop can be reached by either the pink subway line or blue line. it is only a six minute ride due south from the zocalo plaza in the historic center of mexico city. when you exit the subway station, it is confusing, but exit toward the east side and not the west side. [that will be the southeast corner of avenida izaga san pablo and avendia pino suarez (aka avenida calz san antonio abad).] you will find a modern, concrete paved, outdoor, pedestrian plaza surrounded by commercial shops. you will know you are in the right place if you see what look like upside down space ships made of concrete and colorful tile rep001tered around the plaza.

hourly hotels: i know this is a good spot for sws because i found at least three “hot sheet” (short stay) hotels within a block of the station. the one i used was called the hotel unico at 30 escuela medico militar. that is on the east side of the intersection of that street with callejon hormiguero, which is about a block north of the main street fray servando teresa de mier. there are two other short stay hotels on callejon hormiguero just east (proceeding on foot) from the pino suarez subway stop toward the hotel unico. the girls know where the hotels are; so, when they take you down what looks like an alley don’t worry, it become callejon hormiguero. it is safe to go with them; they make their money sucking,fucking and bucking; not rolling clients.

the hotel unico is a 1960s hotel, very clean, safe, and matter of fact. this doesn't exist anymore does it? i found this and all the hotels mentioned, but no scene. circumnavion or whatever is still out in full force, and to a lesser extent san pablo.

Sorry for the delay but I’ve been a Little busy. Here’s my review of my trip to Mexico City.

Be careful in the Merced district. Locals will tell you that this is a gritty area--you're best off believing them. You'll probably be ok during the day if you keep your wits about you and stay in areas with lots of people around. After dark the criminal element or "ratones" as the local merchants call them get more brazen and look for targets. Watch out for darker areas, doorways, and areas where there are no merchants.

Go with a friend if possible. Lots of cops may serve as a deterent, but are underpaid and notorious for corruption. Best to have no dealings.

Thank you for the coordinates. I am not very familiar with Google Earth but was able to see this was a few blocks SE of the Independence Angel monument. (Forgive the clumsy terminology.) The way I have it set up I see neither street notated but I am certain I will not have to wander far.

The travel book said there were a number of bicycle shops on that street, BTW.

I will be in DF WITH FAMILY AGAIN so I will only have limited time. Close, safe, short-term hotels in the area would be useful. And what about the waitresses?

Everyone wears jeans, shorts would make you stand out. The La Merced area is so crowded you can't see anyone 20 feet in front of you. In the evening if you are in Polanco then what you wear would matter. It is the expensive area and dress as you would in the US if you were going to a nice dinner. Any other area jeans are fine.
