I'm not sure if this is the right place to raise this. Please redirect me if you think not.
I am a long time Board Member and mongerer, but life has kept me from fully pursuing my dream / hobby. I'm now 61 and had thought my next 5 to 10 years would be fertile. In the last year I had two great trips to the PI.
I have now been diagnosed with "high risk" (Gleason 9/10) prostate cancer. My two options seem to be total removal of the prostate via robotic surgery or Radiation combined with one to two years of Hormone Therapy. Both sound AWFUL in terms of my sex life.
I'm wondering if anyone out there has been through this and what their feelings are both on the total impact on their hobbying and which path they would choose.
Sir, What is the PSA value?
First, do the PET CT scan immediately to see if it is spread outside the prostate.
If it is not spread then go for Robotic surgery immediately. Yes, erection won't be there post the surgery. But once after you get cured you can take ED pills.
Do not delay.

If ED becomes an issue you may want to experiment with low doses of THC / Marijuana. At 54 I have yet to seek help from Viagra. Although I am definitely one and done these days.
About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease. I had lost 75 pounds prior to that and was living my best life. These days I Fck like every session will be the last. Eat ass and p the same way.
Take care of yourself and most importantly be kind to yourself.
Best of luck.

Do not delay. My last PSA was 6. 12 (which isn't terribly high) but the Gleason score from my biopsy was 9/10 (there were lower scores as well, but they use the highest and 9 is "high risk" I did have a PSMA / Petscan and it appeared relatively normal (uptake in the Prostate plus a mark on my ribs, but everyone thinks that is not related).

Best of luck.Hey Artisttyp,
I've loved your posts for many years! Glad that you're still F. Ing. Life's a ***** and then you die. But I want to fuck a bit more first.
I'm a bit of a shy person for a mongerer and this feels like a major blow, but I'm not sure. That's why I'm asking. Do I need to get as much fucking in as possible before I let them cut it out? Or should I do that and try to recover?
Thanks for a;; input.

It will take 6 mths for complete recovery. Don't let it spread out to other organs. You need to act fast.

I don't know much about prostate cancer but I guess removing it is the most common result to come from a diagnosis? You get rid of tumors my removing it or else I assume it keeps growing? I would definitely get a second opinion though from another Dr. For validation. Also if you can communicate with people who actually had the procedure done you can get a better idea what to expect as far as recovery and long term results. See if Reddit has anything. I find *Reddit to be an amazing source of "real time" information for just about anything if you find the right sub.
The thing to keep in mind is healthCARE in America is the Business of health. Someone is always going to want to sell you something. I deal with this on a constant basis with the Parkinsons. I would be on at least 4 different meds right now if I was passive about everything. As it is I only take one and am doing well for the most part. BE PRO ACTIVE. YOU need to keep on top of the Dr. S and the treatments. These guys are literally swamped with patients and only have time for covering the basics.
Look for treatment options in other countries. Find out who is at the forefront of prostate cancer research.
I agree with your logic though in that you want the best treatment that still offers you the chance to lead as normal of a life as possible. It is not an easy thing to accept but life changes and people need to adapt. You WILL find your way but starting the journey is a VERY rough road to go down. Do what makes you happy. Surround yourself with good people. Get rid of TOXIC everything. The mind is just as important as the body.
Wishing you Peace, Love, and Happiness.

Thanks Artisttpy, sorry to hear about your Parkinsons. But glad to hear you've found a way to manage it.
I find the American medical system to be at once monolithic and exceptionally compartmentalized. It is always looking for a technical "solution" instead of taking a humanistic approach to the patient. And then there's the pharma industry.
Right now I'm trying to gather as much information as I can. And I do appreciate everybody's thoughts.

That video is very popular. MJ isn't a miracle cure but it sure does help with a lot of things.
