I went there for weekend only with zero expectation and mostly to explore.

I'm going to share on few things which may help beginners (like me) and could help speed up in logistics.

Transport:

Uber or DiDi. I used Uber but they don't pick up from airport and have to walk to main avenue / road outside airport parking lot. It was a bit struggle understanding uber driver but he eventually drove in airport pick up area, and pointed us to meet back at street.

So next time, I'm walking to 7-11 outside airport and going to use didi from there. Plus, didi is cheaper.

Lodging:

Used Vivaaerobus to fly in / out – They hustle you for every $$ but surprisingly way better than our local a**holer's aka spirit or frontier. No delay in flight and good looking hostess (a good change of view than seeing aarp dependent hostess on local flights on mainland. LOL).

Stayed in Centro in Krystal. There were few of us and one stayed in Sheraton ambassador (walking distance) and we used our rooms to host girls. Both hotels did not stop any girl visited 'at any time of day or evening'.

I didn't like either to be honest- had to struggle getting basic items like ice or mini fridge (they didn't give us one so had to keep getting ice buckets).

Both are clean and surprisingly I see everyone follow rules of mask in place and while walking outdoor, 90% people in mask. (I got kicked out of oxxo for not having mask on).

Area:

Flew to west coast then for my return route infiltrated Tijuana to catch a flight to Monterrey to cross back into Texas via land. Greyhound has 2-3 buses daily that run from MTY to Dallas with stops in Laredo, San Antonio or Austin.

San Antonio has a bus that gets from GH station to SAT airport. Dallas has the DART rail that gets from GH station to both DAL and DFW airports.

Yeah, San Antonio is probably easiest big city to get to. You fly from whatever city to Monterrey and catch a flight from San Antonio back. That would seem to be the easiest way to go if you can book far enough in advance.

I concur that the brothels tend to be a waste. I checked another near matehuela. Not shown in the map as best I can tell. Girls were passable but I asked and they just have an armchair in the room. Quick update before I forget.

This is my first time crossing into Mexico by land. I'm a us citizen. Last time I bused out into the us no problem with my tourist permit from when I flew in.

That permit didn't work coming back. They made me get a new land permit. $30 bucks. I'm not sure if I can keep using that permit or not for future trips by land. They seem to have disposed of my air permit which doesn't matter I guess because I'll get a new one each time.

In review the depas are great. That's where I will go mostly going forward. 600 pesos for 30 minutes and the quality is as good or better than what I had been getting from the agency I was using. Those meetings were 1600 for 1.5 hours but more often than not they leave early and I've had some with bad attitudes / poor service. I also tried to find a few independents. Didn't put the work in honestly but I did find one at 1900 for 1. 5 hours. She was ok but not great so I didn't retain her info.

I found out some things. I came in by bus and as I mentioned that was slow and tedious. The bus was 4-5 hours late due to border delays. I had to pay 600 pesos to enter. I had to pay again at the airport. 600. And they took my immigration permit at the desk which I think is weird. I used viva aero bus. Last trip I took it home. I did not need to be vaccinated as many people tried to tell me I would. Covid tests are needed within 24 hours prior to your flight now, not 72 like my last trip.

-When ready to head back to Nuevo, buses ran by two companies pretty much same price (about $22 one way) Noreste / Omnibus departs hourly on the X:00 mark and Senda departs hourly on the X:30 mark. Senda is the left side of the ticketing hall, Noreste is the right side of the ticketing hall.

-Noreste also sells $5 airport shuttle from Central Station.

My original plan was to drive to MTY then fly to CDMX. Flights from MTY to CDMX are cheap, but I had surgery and it knock on me on my ass. I thought it would be a couple days recovery, but it ended up taking about 6 weeks. I am finally getting back to normal, so life is good. During this time gas prices almost double, as a result sticking with MTY until things get back to the new normal.

Both CDMX and MTY are great. I like M. City better, more fun, food / service are amazing, and better looking girls, but it is definitely more expensive and requires a flight. Mexico City also takes a little more work and traffic is an issue, but there are endless opportunities. I highly recommended it, but CDMX is not cheap, honestly probably 20% higher then MTY. As I have said it is possible to get by cheap in both places, but that will take a lot time and work. Guys claiming M. City is cheaper are giving some misinformation. Also, I am able to control the cost and I get a huge a discount at the hotel in MTY, since I travel here frequently.
