My findings is late afternoon the girls in them are a bit older and quite pushy, selling you watered down cocktails. It's hard to just go for a drink and people watch. Definitely livelier and a younger set late evenings / night, and you can actually sit and people watch easier in a strange sort of way. But personally I haven't found anyone of my liking in either these bars of those around nana, too pushy and the barfines etc. Prefer to pick a FL up online or Thermae or on the street even.

The good old days are gone I think forever.

A tiny bit of the old Biergarten remains, at the very north end. One pool table, a small bar, some chairs, and a couple of older freelancers. No bar fines. No waitresses, just the bartender. A faint echo of the old days.

That place would deserve a decent funeral. I also have very fond memories from 20-25 years a go when it was still kicking strong. Was my go-to place in afternoons and after a beer or two a short walk across the backyards to Grand President where I was usually staying at the time.

As described by Etaoin in an earlier post, it offers a relaxed atmosphere with a few older freelancers sitting on stools and patiently waiting for customers to notice them. I'd estimate each night there were around 6 unescorted women present, all well-seasoned. A couple were appealing for their ages, while others were old and fugly battle axes.

My first night, I started off by ordering a San Miguel Light (B120) and just chilled and took in the surroundings alone, by choice. No one came up and flirted, which allowed me to relax and ascertain the local vibe.

After ordering beer #2, an attractive lady at the next table dropped something on the ground. Being a chivalrous gentleman, I got out of my chair and picked it up for her. 20 seconds of polite conversation ensued, and I then invited her to my table.

Nice gal with a naturally pretty face, decent figure, and gorgeous smile with all her original God-given teeth. Guessed her age as 37 but she said she was actually 45. Mid-length dress and mid-high heels gave her a girl-next door vibe. Very good English language skills and she was engaging and fun enough for me to stay for well over an hour and share three beers each (lady's drinks B170). Eventually we started holding hands, and during beer #3 she moved her chair closer to mine and put her arm around my waist. No covert molestations, but I had a lot of fun gabbing without any grabbing.

Bill was B870. When the waitress returned to the table, I placed a B1,000 note in the cup to pay the tab. She gave me a big hug, then I strolled down the soi to scout out more action.

A couple of nights later I returned and tabled her again. After beer #2, she leaned into my ear and asked if I wanted her company offsite, with an asking price of B2,000. As fellow poster Etaoin previously mentioned, this bar had no barfine fee.

As my pelvic crankcase was sufficiently drained the previous night, I really wasn't interested in any doinking. So I said I was a bit tired but would return two nights later for extracurricular activities. I hate telling fibs, but I feel better bowing out gracefully.

I did not visit any of the other bars in the complex on this trip, but most of them were devoid of customers while the Beergarden bar had farangs occupying most of the tables and the seats ringing the bar. Nice place to enjoy a cool beverage or two alone while engaging in some people-watching.
