But how is it possible? My understanding is that a guest is not supposed to see the host's review and VV until they're both published or after 2 weeks have passed and they can no longer publish. No?In which they can trash you. Also other hosts can see the reviews you have posted and may take a pass on you if they think you are a complainer. All that I think leads to review inflation on AirBnB.

I subscribe to a newsletter for guiademoteis.com.br.

Here is a special they are offering on Black Monday (Nov 26).

I'm seeing all these apartment rental places. I know that it seems it's better to deal direct with an apartment rental place rather then airbnb in rio if it is a monthly rental.

Does anyone have a connect on a place for monthly or a place they liked that was girl friendly, close to the beach, supermarket etc and still modern for around that price range?

This silly question comes up all the time. Why, I have no idea.

I have stayed at most of the moderate to expense hotels throughout Rio and never have had a problem bringing in girls.

Carry yourself like Richard Gere in Pretty Woman, not like some sniveling pervert. It is not about drawing attention to yourself, it is drawing the wrong kind of attention. You will find that being gracious to hotel staff and other guests makes a difference. Don't sneak around like you have something to hide or be ashamed of, but don't act like you own the place either. Be the guest that everyone, including other guests, would want to see again. People always make something hard, that isn't.

So I RTFF few pages back since they were dated since 2011. I did look up a site that was mentioned quite a bit https://copaapartments.com/ . It seems legit and did send my questions to them. But the last discussion on this thread was 2017 so has anyone stayed there recently like in the last year. Is there area relatively safe and next to any places going to? Thanks in advance.

I know Hotel Atlantico copacabana is GF but it seems to be run down and noisy for extended stay. How about the following two hotels, are they GF?

Premier Copacabana Hotel.

Hotel Atlântico Travel.

They both seem newer and nicer. I emailed them but have not received any reply.

Also can someone please advise me if it is common for Rio hotels to have safe in room for storing valuables?

Thank you for your time.

Has anyone tried staying outside of Copacabana and Ipanema?

I am toiling with the idea of buying a semi-retirement pad and prices are much better outside these areas.

I am not a beachgoer, so I am happy to stay away from the beaches.

Any recommended areas?

I plan on staying in Copacabana for two weeks during my Natal / Ano Novo break. If you have a beachfront apartment on Avenida Atlantica you're willing to rent please inbox me. I'm looking to down 2 weeks minimum, might make it 3. Please inbox me with your requirements / details.

Obrigado.

Anyone have a nice place for 5-6 guys, preferably enough rooms for each person and near copacana beach

I have been checking Airbnb and a lot of places say there is a 10 o clock no noise law. Is that a strict thing?

Also these apartments are in apartment buildings with other tenants, residents who live there and need to get up and go to work the next day, they're not on vacation. So sure having a loud party on a Tuesday night or whatever at 3 AM is not going to go over well. Pick your place carefully to avoid any issues or maybe go for a girl / party friendly hotel.

One of the most common questions in the Rio de Janeiro thread is about GF hotels, even though there is a specific thread for this subject.

How hard can it be to send an email/message to the hotel and ask about their guest policy?

No matter where you go in Brazil there will be 3 alternatives:
1. The hotel doesn't allow guests.
2. The hotel allows guests for free.
3. The hotel allows guests but will charge a fee (cama extra).

Wherever I go in Brazil I make sure to inform me about the hotels guest policy. Very rarely there is a problem and very rarely they'll charge any fee. Some hotels allows you to bring a guest for free visiting for a couple of hours but will charge you a fee if she sleeps over and have breakfast. Being nice (not meaning tipping them) to the reception staff also helps them forgetting that they should charge a fee.

Some people on the forum recommends to pay for a double room. IMO a weird idea. You might not bring a girl every night and also it will be cheaper to pay for a cama extra instead of paying for a double room.

I have stayed at the Princess Copacabana in Rio before. This is one I could not remember until it was mentioned in another thread. The place was very nice, and in a good location. It's been many years since I stayed there though, so I don't know if the place is still good. I do remember it being kind of pricey too, but it offered nice accommodations. Worth a look if you're looking for a place in Copa, and assuming it's still a going concern. I have not checked. I just recall I stayed there a couple of times, and that it was nice, if not a bit on the expensive side.

In the past I stayed at Hotel Olinda (nice, but small rooms) on Avenida Atlantica. I am in search for a nice junior suite or similar with Ocean View. And of course with possibility to bring in girls.

When all this will be over, and it's safe again I'll go to Rio and Sao Paulo for a nice anal "marathon"!

Thanks.

I love Love Motels and have spent many event filled hours and nights at locations throughout Rio.

Saunas, sex chairs, pornos, waterbeds, jacuzzis, large showers and breakfast in the room are just some of the reasons.

Brazilian women like good spontaneous sex. These motels were designed for illicit rendezvous and are considered a little naughty.

If you are capable of chatting a girl up, then you should know the location of the nearest Love Motel. There are nice ones and dumpy ones.

The cost is not always that much different.

Here is a site I have recommended before.

https://www.guiademoteis.com.br/

There aren't as many as there used to be because some, including my favorite, were converted to regular hotels for the World Cup and Olympics.

Asking that super hot Termas girl back to your hotel or apartment (unless it is especially nice) doesn't get you the same response as offering to take her to a nice Love Motel.

In response to inquires about apartment rental agents, I reached out to Eric, the owner of https://copaapartments.com/ to get permission to recommend his agency on this site.

Eric, who is Brazilian, is one of the smartest people I know and speaks and writes English extremely well. I asked him specifically about renting to foreigners with female guests.

His family owns apartments as well as rents as an agent for others. I have known the family for years, have stayed many times in their apartments and recommend them highly.

They also provide other services that may be of interest.

https://copaapartments.com/services/

For some of you first time visitors, especially given the favorable exchange rate, it might make sense to focus on your vacation instead of worrying about things like how do I get to the Christ Statue or Sugar Loaf. Getting around on your own can be fun, until your vacation is over and you realize how much time you wasted trying to figure things out. If you have any questions, particularly about how much something is going to cost, just ask Eric. He will be straight with you.

My definition of girl friendly is simply: no fee period and no limit on the number of girls. If I want to have 3 girls up to my room to party, the "girl friendly" hotel, according to my definition, shouldn't react in any manner except for the doorman wishing me a good evening.

I am a little surprised that the Fairmont Rio has a guest fee policy. I have stayed at Manila Fairmont many times and believe me; they don't care how many girls I invite up. I have had Tequila laced ménage a quatro's in my Manila Fairmont room and management did not bat an eye. Same same with Jakarta Fairmont. I stayed at the Jakarta Hotel one time and I was duly impressed with the quality. I was booked to say there a 2nd time in 2020, but Corona fucked that up.

If a local hotel sees a money-grabbing opportunity, they'll just grab it. Simple as that. That's especially true about luxury hotels or those who aspire to bill themselves like ones (I wouldn't call Hilton in Rio a luxury hotel, but oh, well). Their thinking is you're already spending an arm and a leg to stay there, so what's another 15%?

Speaking of Hilton, if your girl looks presentable I don't see how you won't be able to sneak her in during the day. Just tell them you're going to the rooftop restaurant.

Now, if it's menages you're after, I don't believe you'll find a willing accommodation in Zona Sol. Not just hotels but also rental hosts have strong policies against parties -- maybe take them to love motels.

Some things like a girly fee are up to local management and reflects mostly on the local customs & mores. For example, I was reading about the Sheraton Rio and their mandatory $15 daily resort fee imposed on their guests for hotel facilities This practice is unheard of in other Sheratons. It is a case of local management and what they think they can get away with. Although it is a very bad policy and most likely deters a certain percentage of potential guests who are aware of it.

I have not yet decided where I will stay in Rio yet. I have plenty of time to decide. I just know I want to be on Copa or Ipanema beach and in a 4.5* to 5* girl friendly joint. Not that I am planning on taking that many girls back to my room. I plan to spend a lot of my time, at least initially, in the Termas and Prive's. But I may also want to try a couple of them hot Acompanhantes and I do not want any BS from my hotel when or if I do.

As for threesomes: I never plan for them. In my humble experience, they only occur when I meet the right girl (s) and the vibe is very, very good. I do not anticipate having any in Rio because I am only staying a week, but again, I am up for it if the right situation comes along. You never know.

The Astoria was girl friendly in the past (things do change). I never tried to bring a tute into the Princess Copacabana, so can't speak to girl friendly there from direct experience. But, I did like staying there. Note that I did not book through Expedia, but chose these links because they do have some nice pictures of the properties.

This is just a minor update based on my own research on girl friendly hotels in Rio. Direct from the horse's mouth:

1. The Hyatt is GF.

"Warm greetings from the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro!

The visitor is allowed to have an identity card or photo passport and there is a need to register as a visitor.

Entry without identification and registration is not allowed.

2. The Fairmont is NOT GF.

"Thank you for choosing the Fairmont Rio de Janeiro Copacabana for your reservation.

Our rooms accommodate up to two adults. To receive a guest, is necessary to identify the and pay a are $ 240,00 + 5% of taxes at reception.

We remain at your entire disposal.

The search continues.

P.S. Cane, thanks for your 2 suggestions.

Hyatt is in Barra -- a long ride from the tourist areas of Rio.Yep, I hear it is about 30 minute ride in. I was just thinking that after a week or so in a hotel on Copa or Ipanema Beach and doing the Termas and Terma girls at night and Prive's in the afternoon, it might be fun to spend a couple nights out in Bara on the beach and bring my favorite girls in and / or try out a couple of escorts. There is something about paying a joiner fee the really bothers me.

The Hyatt looks nice and I have 2 expiring free voucher nights that I must use or lose.

This is absolutely true.

Keeping that site handy on your smartphone is gold.

The protip move is to use a love hotel in her hood, IE, zona norte, eg, Cartago next to Norte Shopping, which can be reached for $4.05 reais from Copa by the 457 bus (which also goes by VM). Do that trip during the day. If you meet your girl at a terma and she says she lives near Norte Shopping, you get her number, then meet her at Norte Shopping wearing a Vasco soccer shirt (which Michael Samuel was the other night, a genius move at Perola Negra), and suggest going to Cartago to bang, stand by, you will get good sex, and she will look at your very differently.

I'm planning my first trip to Rio in the next few months so I appreciate all of the help. In general, you have all helped me nail down some places to stay and what I should be paying. I'll probably stick with a nicer hotel in Copa and then shift over to a cheaper airbnb when I learn the lay of the land. I'll be writing out those reports as I get there. I especially appreciate the love motel link that Exec Talent linked to previously; https://www.guiademoteis.com.br/.

But I had a question on why there are no love motels in the Copa / Ipanema area. Is it because there is generally a good amount of girl friendly hotels in that area or is there another reason? I would have assumed that there would be a decent demand there since Rio is not like Bangkok where pretty much every hotel is girl friendly. It's not a huge deal for me since I am planning to try out a few of the nicer motels from the link above (maybe for a splurge here or there if I find a girl I like) and the Leblon ones look pretty good, but I was just wondering why there the love motel map has a major hole in what should be their main tourist area?

. . . I'll probably stick with a nicer hotel in Copa and then shift over to a cheaper airbnb when I learn the lay of the land. I'll be writing out those reports as I get there. . . .Your other option is to consider the cheap hotels in Copa, that are borderline, as inexpensive as the love motels. They don't offer the sex decor or amenities, but the rental for a day may provide breakfast and the usage of the room for the 20 to 24 hrs. If for whatever reason you can't have a guest at your choosen style lodgings in Copa. Here are two (2):

1. Hotel Diplomata, Praa Demtrio Ribeiro 103 Copacabana (Prices as low as $23-26/day).
2. Copamar Hotel, Rua Barata Ribeiro 509 Copacabana (Prices as low as $26/day).

Both hotels are centrally located in Copa and appear to be cheaper than Hotel Vanity ($53/day), but as a love motel, it may have hourly rates.

Looking forward to your reports.

Thanks for the info! I got my ticket (booked for mid June for a month) so I'll see what I can do. I am currently thinking about using Pestana to start out since it appears to be the a decently nice hotel that is definitely friendly, and then I'll see after that. I'll consider the hotels you mentioned, and it's good to see at least Hotel Vanity added as an option.

Since it's my first trip, I'll be running the gamut of options and trying to find what works for me in terms of available talent. I'll hit up the nice termas, mid-grade massage places, escort services like Barra, etc. To see what feels best. Anyway, now the long wait begins.

Royal rio palace is a nice hotel and has apartments attached but has separate access around the corner from the hotel foyer and is / was GF.

Apartments are serviced and you get access to hotel amenities, pool, gym, buffet breakfast.

I also had no problem with the ibis around the corner from here as I just walked in straight through reception, but I assume you need to be careful about the way a girl is dressed.

I'm currently looking at July if anyone has other recommendations, but will probably end up in an apartment.

Always keep this site on your phone.

When you go into a new "boate" (to include any venue, from an office to a bar, where you are going to meet brazilian women you want to fuck).

1. Get on wifi.

2. Get instagram open.

3. Get her IG.

4. Ask where she lives.

5. Vc quer fuder no isso hotel (pointing to a hotel in her neighborhood, eg, she says she lives in zona norte, you say, vc sabe norte shopping? She says sim, you say, vamos fuder no hotel cartago, which is steps from norte shopping; or she lives in barra, you say, vamos no hotel dunas; or she says zona sul, you say vamos no panda motel). What this says about you is: 1) I know how to take care of you, I am your PIMP (see 50 cent), as the love motels give you the 6 S's for cash, anonymously -- shit shower shave supper sex sleep 2) (especially for non pros), we are going to fuck, because going to a love motel says you are going to fuck, not fazer amor, fuder, fuder. As in that great porta dos fundos, sobremesa.

Entao. Monger on garth.

Moving the discussion in the photo thread regarding the old Rio Roiss, now the Ritz Copacabana, over here. Yeah, after the fall of Help, Meia Pataca, tute beach, L'uomo and all of that, I have mostly stayed away from the area. I just saw no need to go around there much anymore. And I'm glad they didn't just put the name "Ritz" on the place and keep going. Looks like the place got a badly needed face lift. The reviews seem to be mostly good too. Still, at this stage I would not stay there. I'm done with staying in Copa!

Still, at this stage I would not stay there. I'm done with staying in Copa!

https://www.ritzcopacabana.com.br/en/I plan on going to Rio end of July for possibly two weeks. Is using an Airbnb alright? Seems like a lot of folks go with hotels. I'm undecided on Centro or Copacabana. Was considering maybe one week in each location. Still trying to gather info through the forum since this will be me first trip and I'll be solo.

As a matter of fact, when I first started going to Brazil, I would say that apartments were the more popular choice for most since the cost was lower. I've always opted for hotels myself (as do many). Since I choose hotels over apartments, I'm not the best source of information on the latter, but maybe someone else will chime in with some advice for you. But generally speaking yes, apartments are fine. In terms of location, for a first timer I recommend Copacabana or Ipanema. I don't recommend Centro for the first trip, but that's just me. Others have other ideas.

Not saying they're wrong, but I've been staying at rentals in Rio forever, long before Airbnb, since I love having more space for less money. Of course, I've had my share of hotel stays as well, so there is nothing wrong one way or another, to each their own.

Centro or Copa. First read an excellent recent Vagabundo's post about Centro hotels in Rio Reports thread. Your choice boils down to your priorities.

1. Budget: everything is cheaper in Centro, hotels, girls, food. Everything.

2. Your idea of fun: there are way more mongering options in Centro, but no beach and no vacation feel at all.

3. Safety: Centro might be more dangerous and bleak after hours (not that Copa is totally safe and cheerful, mind you).

You haven't mentioned if it'll be your first trip to Rio, but I think for a 2-week stay you might want to take in more territory including Barra (again, read and reach to Vagabundo with your questions). Barra would work for beach, girls and safety, but it's a residential area, far away from both Copa and Centro. And you could try to stay in each location and see what tickles your fancy.

I've PMed a few members asking for tips and some of them were kind enough to respond. This will be my first trip and I'll be solo. Budget isn't much of an issue but I also don't want to overpay since it seems to be a touchy subject here. I do enjoy exploring as much as hobbying. I might spend a few days in Centro then spend the rest in Copa. Hoping to meetup w / fellow members or a local that can give some tips so I don't overpay or find a bunch of duds and for safety reasons. Barra seems out of the way I'm considering going back in Sept if I have a good time so I can go to SP I might add Barra than depending on how this trip goes. Thanks.

Most people in Centro (and many in Copa) don't speak English.

You can quickly travel to Centro by metro or taxi. Most places I wanted to visit were close to a metro station, the metros are clean, frequent, safe and cheap. It takes about 20 minutes.

I enjoyed visiting independents at their apartments but also used salons.

I think there is more b&s in Copa than Centro (from my experience) , using the Brazilian forums are a must. If you are visiting independents then most won't give their apartment number till you arrive, so you really need data, I think there free WiFi on the metro but I sometimes had problems connecting.

This is how I break it down:

If you are interested in spending some time on the beach, choose Copa or Ipanema. Nothing beats strolling out of your hotel and walking a block or less to the beach. There is usually eye candy everywhere on the beach promenade. Copa and Ipanema are also more user friendly for foreign tourists.

If you do not strongly care for spending time on the beach and mongering is by far more important, consider Sao Paulo where the mongering scene is more robust. Staying in Centro is like staying in Sao Paulo except SP is bigger.

Work the V is referencing the shape of the Copacabana and Ipanema area. Arpoador is the bottom point of of the V. You could stay near the General Osorio (East side of Ipanema) or Cantagalo (Southwest Copa) metro stops. You are close to the beach and you can walk between Copacabana Beach and Ipanema Beach very quickly. That General Osorio Plaza area is actually fairly nice. Both Osorio and Cantagalo areas usually have some decent rentals. You can then jump on the metro and bring it on down to Termasville.

I recommend Ubering at night. Avoid the metro.

The plan was to stay in both when I was deciding to stay in Rio for 2 weeks. I changed my mind when I saw I could get a direct flight to SP so I'm doing about a week there and another week in Rio and will stay in Copa. Flight is booked just doing research and looking for places to stay at this point. I will stay in Moema / Indianopolis area thanks to the posts by SinfullyKorean.

I have stayed at AirBnBs around the world where English is the principal language or I speak the native language. Otherwise, if I do not have friends in that country, I stay at hotels.

First timers coming to Brazil should do the same. AirBnB hosts will list that they speak English to get rentals when they really don't. If there is a problem, then there goes your dream trip.

On one of my first trips to Brazil I rented an apartment which had issues. Fortunately, one of the rental agency team spoke English (had lived in the US) and they refunded my money and I moved to a hotel. As a result of their fair business practices, we became good friends and I rented from them often.

Do not underestimate the value of English-speaking hotel employees. They can arrange tours, help you communicate with other Brazilians and in many ways make your life easier. Can you do this on your own? Sure, but you don't have time to waste muddling around when you could have gotten a quick answer or resolution. One time I was in Rio staying at a hotel when their internet went out while I was in an important meeting. No problem. I just took my laptop down the street to another hotel walked up to reception and asked is there someplace quiet where I can connect to your internet. The clerk escorted me down the hall to a private office and I was back in my meeting. No charge. Again, do not underestimate the value of these relationships. Often on the forum people ask about exchange rates. Who do you think gets the best exchange rates other than some friends who will remain nameless? Hotels. Wouldn't it be great if you got their same exchange rate? You guys who think you have it all figured out, don't. One of the members you always try to pick fights with, does. Maybe you should listen to him now and again. He has been places, seen and done things you never will.

The next time I go to Rio, I won't be staying in Copacabana. I'm tired of it, and time to move on. I've narrowed it down to LeBlon (there's more going on in LeBlon than I realized) and Ipanema. Does anybody have any relatively recent experience with hotels in these two areas? I've never had a problem finding girl-friendly hotels all over Copa, but I've never stayed in the two aforementioned locations. I heard a long time ago that the best hotels in LeBlon particularly may not be so open to mongers bringing in GDPs, no matter whether you booked for two or not. Would appreciate any knowledge held by the brotherhood regarding the current girl-friendly hotel situation in LeBlon and Ipanema.

I'm planning to stay in Rio for like six weeks starting beginning January and I find the longtime renting of airbnbs much cheaper than a comparable hotel. In August this year I stayed for six weeks in Transamerica Barra and I ended up ubering every evening to copa -) I agree, copa is touristic and kind of dirty but it always has been a good starting point for me beginning with Mabs, dolce vita, Kalabria and then going to club mosaico if necessary. Interestingly, the more you leave copa going to zone sul like ipa, leblon etc. The cheaper the Airbnb's also get.

You'll find this JW inferior to normal international JW Marriott standards. The staff try hard, but this hotel suffers from general lack of space. The rooms are tiny and it felt a bit dated (back in 2019).

It's a nice hotel, though, and the location can't be beat.

While I read the reviews over the internet and most of the folks complaint about quality of room (outdated) and hotel staff. Even if it happens, they won't rob you blind, they would lift a bill or two from your pile of cash, hoping you won't notice. No one wants to involve cops and worse, their supervisors.

If you're organized and paranoid enough, count your money before leaving and when you come back. But seriously, I don't think it's worth it.

Not exactly sure if they are renovating other floors where the normal double sized bed set ups rooms are. I stayed there in July and the construction was driving me crazy. I asked to move rooms and the staff was very kind to oblige. During my stay both of their elevators decided to take a crap. Even their service elevator was having issues. The wait to get to the upper floors was ridiculous. I definitely wouldn't book there until whatever renovations they are doing are completely finished. Ymmv.

I have searched through this forum and read a lot of reports. Most information on hotels is pretty old and out of date. So my question is does anyone have any recommendations for a small group of guys probably 4-8 of us at most. The reason for a hotel is because different schedules and just easier for us to organize and plan. Interested in lower priced, guest friendly, wifi, and ac. Would love any up to date suggestions. Or if anyone knows of a good airbnb / private spot that is set up the same way that we could all book separately. Would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance.Yes, the Astoria Palace is girl-friendly (in Brazil it's "garotas" not chicas). I and others here have stayed there. I don't recall paying any extra fees to bring girls in, but things change, so best to check. Typically, as long as you've booked your room for two you're good. And how are the rooms? Well why wouldn't you just look at their website to get an idea? Look it up man: https://astoriapalace.com.br/. The one thing I hated about this hotel is that they had a crummy internet connection in my room. Maybe it got better, but I don't know that for a fact. The location is great. I found the breakfasts to be mediocre though. But as far as a place to stay, for me overall it was fine. I've attached some pics of a couple of girls I had at the Astoria Palace to give some idea (although limited) of what my actual room was like (I got Mila deep up inside her tight little branca "pinky" hehehe).

Firstly, and this may be a big difference versus others, I do not go out at night searching for ladies but rather bring or meet ladies who I know already to the hotel.

I always ask the ladies to dress nicely. They always do anyway as they consider staying at a nice hotel as a great experience and like to dress up and take many pictures.

Day 1, I arrive with my date and we check in together. Never any issues.

Day 2 or 3, when it is time to switch ladies I send the first lady on her way in the morning. Then I go to the reception and wait until I can get to speak with a male receptionist on my own. I ask to adjust my reservation and change the name of the other occupant. I openly say change of girlfriend. Troca de namorada. And they almost always smile. We register the new lady. I then go to the pool or for a nap. When the lady arrives she will go straight to the reception and check-in. Her name is already in their system so she will just need to fill out a form. They give her a key and she comes to the pool or room.

Repeat as many times as needed.

This has worked without issues at Sheraton Leblon (my default hotel), Marriott and even at Copacabana Palace.

As any have said before: there are 4 GF hotels in Copa that I know of: JW Marriott, Hilton, Pestana and Portobay. Some of them, like Hilton, might ask you to register a girl, which I consider a great safety precaution. I'm particular impartial to Hilton since all its rooms even the basic ones have ocean views. In addition, there are 2 pools (and one of them is a real large pool which is never too busy). Of course, rules can change at any time, so ask them.

Hotel staff is exceptional. There are electronic 6-digit safety deposit boxes in rooms. Boxes are screwed into the walls with 2 screws from within the box. You can't easily access the room from the window side. Hotel is guest friendly, given you follow all the recommended procedures for any GF property.Due to my trip to Rio next week, I am searching for hotels in Copa. During my past two trips a long time ago I stayed at the Hotel Copacabana Mar, Hotel Atlantis Copacabana and Hotel Mar Palace Copacabana. I have never faced any problems with the cleanliness or something else. But I have also never tried to get a girl in the room, because I was visiting Termas and used Hotel Vanity for per noites.

Based on my research, more or less all hotels have bad reputations concerning cleanliness etc. One good option seems to be Royal Rio Palace Hotel mentioned here in that forum for girl friendliness and good location.

My question would be, are the pool and rooms acceptable clean at Royal Rio Palace? Reports on hotel booking sites are not good. I have not huge expectations, but paying over 50 € per night for a not acceptable pool and room for xx days could cause real tensions between me and the hotel manager.

I have also stayed in an apartment during my last visit in 2009, but that is no option for me. Also back then, no problems with the facility (only extensive noise from the bars and morning traffic).

As a guideline, I am booking no more than one week at one location / hotel. After that period I am changing the hotel to minimize the risk, if it was a wrong choice.

Rooms are 10/10 super clean. As for a pool it's a noisy crowded place to snap photos, and I won't plan on using it. My standard is an open Olympic size pool (anyone can suggest a GF property with the best pool, please post).

The Rio Sheraton in leblon has a great pool and girl friendly.Second that. Great pool, fantastic views from the lounge, plus picturesque and arguably the only swimming beach in Rio that has this semi-private feel. And I believe all rooms have at least some ocean views. They also have a free shuttle to Copa and Rio Sul.

I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on royal rio palace myself but I would really appreciate if anyone here can confirm that they are still guest friendly. I have emailed them several times to ask but no reply. I have done both in English and Portuguese. I just want to make sure they still in fact are guest friendly. Due to the fact that a lot of previously guest friendly places changed their policies. Also thank you to all the guys posting these last couple of weeks in this particular thread. Nice to get some current info.

I call bullshit bait and switch on Expedia. This hotel was converted to apartments a couple of years ago. It will never be available as a hotel again. Cane's original information was solid as I stayed there many times however it is sadly out of date.First of all, I made no representations about what the place is now. I clearly said that it was a good while ago that I had stayed there. Things change. So, it behooves anybody making plans to inquire to see how things are now. And second, are you ready to call "bullshit bait and switch" not only on Expedia, but also on Hotels.com, Kayak, Travelocity, Orbitz, and Agoda too? All reputable sites that present this property as a hotel currently today? I recall when I stayed there that it was an "aparta-hotel", which I liked. So, it's certainly conceivable to me that at least some of the property could have been converted to apartments. But, it's also more than quite conceivable that hotel rooms are available too given that so many legit sites are representing that they are (I only listed a few as there are many, many). My bet would be on them as it's their business to know. Something is smelling like some bullshit alright. At any rate, it certainly looks like something worth investigating as a hotel option.

Given that the Promenade Princess Copacabana Hotel is splashed all over the place on booking sites that I have come to ironclad trust over the years, I decided to do some research of my own. I went to several of those sites and looked for available rooms based on several different time frames, including well into next year. No matter what dates I put in and no matter what site I used, nothing came up. Always no room at the inn! This was the clue for me that this property indeed is no longer a functioning hotel. So then, I decided to call the hotel directly. What I got was a non-functioning number. So it appears that Mr. Houston Player is 100% correct, and "bullshit" must indeed be called on Expedia and all of the rest of them! I was wrong and he was right.

It's the first time I have encountered anything like this where every site (reputable or not) is getting it wrong by continuing to list a hotel property that is no more. If it was a relatively recent occurrence I would understand. But according to HP the transition occurred at least a couple of years ago. But did it (see this site purportedly last fact checked and updated on July 30,2022 (just three days ago): https://jetbluecheckinforgood.com/best-guest-friendly-hotels-in-rio-de-janeiro/)? In any event, I was wrong in this case to say that the representations of the booking sites should be given the benefit of the doubt over the word of Mr. Houston Player. I don't know why they don't just remove the hotel from their listings! In my own defense, I do stand by my statement that I said it was a long time ago that I stayed there, and made no representations about what the property is today. You have to do your due diligence to find that out, and when you do, you will learn that the Promenade Princess Copacabana Hotel is no more.

Hi,

I am traveling next week to rio. Booked the Astoria palace as the only conclusive GF hotel near Copa, but have heard horror stories about the internet there, and I'll need to work during my time there. Can hot spot phones but don't want to be in that situation if I can avoid.

Combed through all these threads and didn't find anything conclusive about a GF with useable internet. Someone mentioned Royal Rio Palace but reviews there indicate shit wifi as well. I have another 24 hours or so to cancel Astoria palace before penalty so wondering if I should pull the trigger on a bigger name in hopes of better wifi and then concede the GF part. Any feedback highly appreciated. Newbie to rio so hoping to be near Copa per recommendations here. Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance. The Mercure Rio Boutique Hotel Copacabana is a small hotel located next to the JW Marriott. It's girl friendly (in fact it's friendly to every fucking thing). I don't remember the WiFi being a problem but since I wasn't working I can't guarantee that it would be acceptable to you. I did use my computer while there and I don't recall issues.

I would only recommend the larger ocean view rooms in the front of the hotel, they are large and nice enough. The other rooms are much smaller but functional.

This is an old building with small and slow elevators, the lobby was constantly freezing and the check-in process was antiquated.

The restaurant was surprisingly good with an exceptional free breakfast buffet with free made to order omelets.

When I said that this hotel was friendly to everything: They weren't concerned with bringing girls to the room, 2 girls were ok. It is pet friendly with a shower for your pet in the lobby and they welcome gay and transgender couples, have a sign expressing this. This doesn't bother me but I'm giving a heads up to anyone who has a problem with it.

So you have to book for two and register one garota at the beginning of your stay there. That means only one during the whole time.

I did also spoke with other hotels due to eventually change my hotel. E. g. Copacabana Mar is gi-FR. You have only to register her every time before taking her to the room. No limitations, so every night another one. If you book for two, no additional costs. But the hotel is very old, FYI.

Yes it's girl friendly and that ocean front room is worth it.August 2022 update on Pestana Hotel. Yes it was girl friendly. You take the girl to front desk and they take copy of ID. Then she signs a form and you sign a form. Don't ask me the words on that form LOL.

Yeah that ocean front room is the bomb. Balcony is HUGE. That was one of the best views in a hotel room I have ever had.

Yeah the hotel is dated. But the room is big with desk and couch. I was supposed to go to Buzios for 4 days end of my trip and bailed. I said to myself why am I going to Buzios with this room and the chicas here. And possible problems with a wifey in Buzios. LOL.

Breakfast is decent. Nice bar on top to bring your chica to. That area around Pestana is real nice. Lot of upscale yuppie type bars and restaurants. Good Italian restaurant to left of Pestana looking from street. Funny the managers look right out of Sopranos. Though they brazilan. Haha.

I paid under 200 for first part of my trip. The extension killed me. Rock and Rio was in town and they jack up prices. So really depends time of year to get decent price. If you get that late flight out to USA at 11 pm you might want to reserve for that day. I tried late checkout or 6 pm checkout and they said no dice. Holiday was coming up.

Why hotel and not AirBnB? I'm planning to stay in Rio for like six weeks starting beginning January and I find the longtime renting of airbnbs much cheaper than a comparable hotel. In August this year I stayed for six weeks in Transamerica Barra and I ended up ubering every evening to copa -) I agree, copa is touristic and kind of dirty but it always has been a good starting point for me beginning with Mabs, dolce vita, Kalabria and then going to club mosaico if necessary. Interestingly, the more you leave copa going to zone sul like ipa, leblon etc. The cheaper the Airbnb's also get.I'm doing a month out there in Jan. I'll probably stay in Ipanema. Hit me up if you want to have a beer or hunt together.

That's a loaded question. I like Ipanema better, but prefer staying in Copa.

Do you prefer more space to service. Stay in an apartment. Service to space? Hotel.

Normally, you'll find apartments in Rio cheaper in terms of space than hotels, but less predictable, ie you don't know what kind of mattress you going to sleep on. Also, many Airbnb's aren't GF, so read carefully.

If you have a reasonable budget maybe stay at a hotel for the first time. Both JW Marriott and Hilton are guest-friendly, but Hilton makes you fill the form. JW doesn't care at least when I was there before Covid. There are other GF hotels on the strip, maybe someone else will chime in with updated info.

Here's something to consider. If you like to be near the bars with action, stay down at the North side of Copacabana. Since I don't walk much at night in Rio, staying nearby offers me no particular advantage since I'm typically taking an Uber anyway.

Since I like both Ipanema beach and Copacabana beach, I have found staying near the point of the V shape between Copa and Ipa to be a good area. I can easily drop into either beach and walk around either neighborhood (daytime). Ipanema is a nicer neighborhood place than Copacabana. The nice civilian area Leblon is also closer.

That's a good spot. Right on Copacabana Beach and about a 1/2 mile from Ipanema Beach.

Boa Fortuna!Appreciate the confirmation! Looks like a relatively new listing and the unit has a gorgeous view of the Beach. Finding this spot has me even more excited for my first visit! Now to the other thread to find spots to visit LOL!

Hi! I read on this forum several times about the Atlantico Tower hotel in the Centro being girl friendly.

Can somebody confirm if this also applies to the Hotel Atlântico Business on Rua Senador Dantas, or to the Hotel OK next door?

If it's just an hour visit for a "massage", would I need to book a room for double occupancy or is it alright if I just book for myself?

Would it it be advisable if I meet my girl outside and go up with her, rather than ask her to go to my room?

Thank you!!

I used Kenn in the 2000's. Good guy, decent apartments, some with ocean views, etc.

He gets mentioned from time to time here, but unfortunately I think AirBnB and VRBO have replaced the Kenns of the world.Whatever happened to that Bobby guy that had that travel agency. He still around.

Appreciate the advice from you guys that responded. I was going to go with the hotel pestana but the reviews were up and down. I ended up finding a beautiful airbnb near the hotel Emiliano. All modern and updated unit. W / doorman and guest friendly. Will definitely report back on this spot once I complete my stay. In Copa by the way.Hello, any chance you could share the listing details? Planning my first trip in March!

I've seen him in recent years, he does a lot of money exchange now and has a laundry business. I actually had laundry done there once, just drop it off and come back it's all folded for you. I also changed money there once but I never rented an apartment from him in all these years and now with Airbnb the business has changed. I also spoke to a woman recently who I used to rent apartments from for many years she told me all her apartments are on Airbnb now so its an easy fix for these guys, yes they have more competition now which is a good thing but most of those apartments from back in the day are probably on Airbnb now.

This guy has a website of his apartments and they're all on Airbnb. Www.mzapartments.com.br

I had suspected his traveler service business contracted. It's too easy and too competitive finding everything on the internet.

Money exchange and laundry are physical businesses.

As soon as they were done with their email, you could invite them for a caipirinha while they waited for their stupid boyfriend to send them money. LOL.

So even if I didn't do a lot business with his establishment, Bobby did provide a lot of services in his day to some people. I just thought he was a hustler (meant in a complimentary way) that provided services that I didn't need or could find elsewhere for less.

There were a couple guys who didn't invest in anything at all. No storefront, no website. They would just pick-up tourists up at the airport, find them an apartment to stay, and prop up their sorry asses at Meia Pataca and Terrazzo Atlantica. Later in the night, they would "guide" them into Help and around the other Rio sex venues.

I generally changed money elsewhere (for example, another cambio on the same street) and never rented from him but on the last trip I went there to change money, he had police in the there as apparently his kid was caught doing some mischief and he was moaning about life being difficult already without his kid adding shit on top of it. IIRC also met his wife, on who appearance the kid stopped being defiant. Had a nice conversation and got out. I can see that the shop is still there on Google Street view.

I used to rent from Don (of Amerioca) before he closed shop. I went with him and another customer / friend of his to L'uomo shortly before it closed, good memories.

Speaking of which, I am looking for guest friendly AirBnBs. Planning a trip after 10 years in April-May this year. Thanks!

Does anyone know the joiner policy of the Grand Hyatt Rio (Barra da Tijuca)?Just to confirm: Hyatt does allow guests, but they can't use the common areas like the pool or beach (that's what they said in their email and I didn't try to push it).

The problem with Hyatt is there is nothing near it in walking distance except for a great Argentinian restaurant, not even a grocery shop. But that's what gives it a resort feel, I guess.

I am planning to visit Rio for 1st time, I am looking for house or apartment that me and my friends can stay together and have party at night in our place, I have been to Colombia lots of time and had fun with my friends, we always had big house and invited girls and had lots of fun, girls also had fun and they made money too, so I am wondering how things work in Brazil, I see lots of reports in here that guys go to the club and strip club and have fun. Any one have any input on house to rent for party, all the airbnb house are not allowed any parties.

Hey thanks for this info I checked it out. While it is well situated in Copa, the reviews contain slow wifi complaints. Ultimately ended up going with the leblon Sheraton. That might be the best value available taking proximity, star rating and GF on my dates.Hi!

How was Sheraton in Leblon? Was it Girl Friendly? I was wondering if it would be allowed to take a girl to common areas like the pool, etc. I was thinking of booking a room for 2 adults and have a different girl visit daily.

Thanks.

I stayed in Centro at Novotel RJ Santos Dumont, next door to the IBIS hotel. 7 minute's ride from SDU airport.

The room was nice, very modern, and soundproof. It's a busy hotel. Pricing anywhere from $68 to $90 USD dollars a night. I don't remember about breakfast cause no interest to me. It's a short, easy ride to Whiskeria 4 x4, termas, Rio Branco 185 building, Rio Branco 156 buildings, and Darkroom.

In my opinion, this place is for people like me who highly value peace, quiet, and stage 3 REM sleep after a night of hard drinking partying, and fraking garotas in Duplo sessions.

The Novotel and IBIS there is no nightlife nearby, no views, I had an upper floor, no shops, no beachfront views. Nothing. Centro shuts down tight at night. IBIS / Novotel are away from all the famous tourist stuff. Away from nightlife or beach life. The neighborhood is sparse at night. In my opinion, it's not a vacation hotel spot like Copa.

It is short cheap Uber to SDU for easy flights back and forth to SP. Well not easy, the low budget airlines have crowded buses to the plane, and lugging carry-on, up the jetway to the stairs to the plane in the cold rain is no fun, for the lower priced round trip ticket.

Does anyone have a good or bad experience when renting through an agency that says guests must be pre-registered through the agency? If so, any recommendations on how to navigate that or what to avoid? There is 24/7 security. I'm wondering if in a higher-end place, I can show up with a smile and some cash to avoid that process. Obviously, I'd have to pay 2-3 security guards, but that would be far better than the alternative. It's a great apartment, I just don't want to have that conversation with the agent, nor do I want to find out upon arrival that it's essentially not guest-friendly.

It's a two-story penthouse, so I am not worried about noise, and we wouldn't be throwing parties, per se. Maybe inviting 3-4 girls over after the beach or sneaking in late night after going out.

Cheers!

Cheers!I understand your reluctance, but you need to ask the agency exactly what they mean. Tell them you have friends in Rio, and you'd like to quietly entertain them in your PH (trust me they will know what you mean). I presume the place is pricey, and it would be a shame if you can't "entertain" guests for your own money. In my experience (not just in Rio), you can't always rely on bribing security.

I told the female agent there was some very strong language in the contract about guests. I explained I would hate to have to be communicating via Google Translate with a security guard at some point, making a scene in the common area, and thus, making our guests feel uncomfortable. I said we are all experienced travelers, real estate owners, etc. I said it would be a shame to find out on-site that we can't have a few guests in to enjoy our private rooftop pool, or have a bottle of wine before walking for dinner. In short, the guest policy says no overnight stays. She summed it up as be respectful in the common areas, don't throw big parties, and be good neighbors = no problems. That was refreshing to hear. Now, we'll see how it actually plays out upon arrival.

I was actually thinking about buying the guards a separate little booklet to take down guests' information. If they ever got in a pinch, transfer it into the real visitor log and throw me under the bus. Anyone ever done something like that? I don't think we'll have to worry about anything, but maybe on a future trip. It would be good to share some tricks of the trade.

Just be respectful, don't bring in cheap, drunk hoars and don't annoy the neighbors. That's it. No one cares if a girl has spent the night in your PH s long as everyone behaves. At least, it's unlikely.

As for giving guards a 'booklet', why complicate things? Befriend them, tell them to check girl's IDs, but for your own protection. Going to cost you just a few beers and lunches if that.

When they don't want you to bring girls, you'll know. No one is shy over there. A few years ago I saw an awesome duplex in Salvador on Airbnb, but the language explicitly said no guests and no prostitution. I contacted the owner (because I fell in love with the pictures) and told her I had male and female friends in Salvador and wanted to entertain them at the pool. She explained that there was a male neighbor leaving on the upper floor overlooking the terrace and the pool and when people started fooling around in the pool, the asshole would call her manager and complain. So I assured her that we'd be very discreet (and kept the promise). Other than that, the building didn't even have a security -- we could bring a dozen of girls and no one would stop us, LOL.

The other time, I saw a listing for a great apartment in Arpoador, and it contained the similar language. I contacted the owner, and she said no visitors under any circumstances. She was polite, but that was a no.

I meant I was thinking about that as a potential strategy if we couldn't get a straight answer from the agent and were thinking of ways to circumvent the system. Seems like we'll be fine. Already got my Tinder marinating in RJ.

Was it girl friendly?Floppygilmore.

Never had the chance to bring Garotas back to the room. I Uber over to buildings Rio Branco 156,185, Rosario 135, and Darkroom soon when they opened at 11 am.

Or when the lineup posts with. A promotion special 120 reais, I think vagabundo mentioned 80 reais special too.

Stayed in the buildings, back-to-back duplo sessions all afternoon until 6 pm.

Yup, six showers in an afternoon gets damn old, and more freakin showers at night, in termas. Ten showers in 24 hours.

I Uber back to Novotel for a power nap from 6. 30 p to until 9 p. Then off to Termas 4 x4 Whiskeria 65, until 3 am. At night I had a slim chance of getting an Uber for only a $7 reais ride to the hotel. The drivers canceled multiple times. So I grabbed a taxi out front and told the guy to turn on the meter. Seven minutes and $8 reais later arrive to crash drunk from exhaustion in a comfy bed until 10 am the next morning, rinse and repeat until flying out SDU to CGH in the afternoon.

DonCarlos.

Good advice was given on the board about airports and airlines, going with flexibility and multiple hourly flights. I went, SP to Rio round trip CGH to SDU a number of times. Think it was Latam. Automatic boarding pass went directly to security and gates. Crowded like heck plane side. Wifi available. The best thing I did was select a fare to change a half dozen times at no extra cost. I changed airports, changed flight times at least ten times. Not all my fault, two hot garotas doing a duplo were on their knees sloppy sharing the knob, BBBJDT slobbering away, snowballing CIM, why heck rush to the fracking airport, took later and later flights. Haha.

The crowded lines boarding the bus to the plane are a pain in the rear. Much better when the cheap airlines pay for gate and jetway access. It was miserable dark, cold raining, boarding the plane late at night in bad weather. Sunny daytime was better the.

Hope you had a wonderful trip and looking forward for the update on your experience as we just booked a 3 bedroom decent airbnb in copa area. After filtering thru lot of messages this one seems to be bit flexible on guest policy (atleast that's what the owner said before booking) not sure what will happen after we check in.

Hey,

I will staying with my business partner in his big apartment where he stays with his wife (we are building a business together), its good but I can't bring girls there so I want a small studio apartment or room near leme just for taking girls stress-free.

Any advice how to find something?

I would pay monthly, it doesn't have to be fancy, but near zona sul and absolutely girl-friendly, meaning I can take multiple girls and they don't charge extra or deny entry.

I just got back from a stay in Rio. While staying at the Pestana on Copacabana, they were charging me are $220 for each guest that I brought back to my room. They also tried to sneak in a "donation" to one of their charities onto my minibar bill. I would NOT recommend staying at the Pestana due to the high guest fees and their shady tactics of padding your bill.

Hey guys.

I'm landing fairly late, close to 1 AM. By the time I collect my luggage + customs it'll probably be 1:30 AM.

I haven't booked my hotel yet, so am fairly flexible, but my worry is getting a cab at that time of night (as public transport won't be running).

Any tips?

I even thought of spending the night in one of the airport hotels and then going into Rio tomorrow morning.

Not sure whether we will be bringing girls to the room but chica friendly is preferred just in case.

Pardon me if this has been answered in the past. I just started reading the forum for our upcoming trip so I can start making reservations for the stay.

Hello gents, this will be my 4th trip to Rio. Wondering if I could get some GF hotel suggestions. I have stayed in hilton and portobay copacabana in the past and at an airbnb in leblon- all extremely GF. Wanted to know of any other GF hotels if possible please.

There are tax agents inside the Arrivals section of GIG. They take credit cards, so you can get a taxi to other parts of Rio, no problem.

My hotel is close to Centro metro subway city centre what is best mode of transit from GiG airport? I prefer transit how do I identify the tight bus at the airport? Maybe I'm better off taking bus from airport to closest metro train station Vicente de Carvalho is it then subwaying it down to Centro Cariaca station? Mini-bus? Taxi how to identify honest ones? Uber unsure about wifi at airport where to catch? My arrival 8:30-9 am Thanks. If you are new to Rio, using a taxi stand inside the Arrivals area of GIG is your best bet. It's more expensive but avoids problems.

The Uber area has no WiFi, and telephone reception is weak.

I read the FF.

I am looking for a girl friendly hotel in Lapa. 99% of the discussion here is about Copacabana, where I am now, but I am looking for a change up to Lapa.

There are lots of short time hotels in Lapa, but they are disgusting. I am looking for a decent hotel.

Hotel Fénix.

Rua do Senado, 189.

Girl friendly, former love hotel.

I got a big room with jacuzzi for 350 reales, but there are cheaper rooms.

It's at the north end of Lapa.

Thanks. On the Leme side (Posto 1), the closest ones are in Botafogo. Search for Bambina and Panda. On the Apraodor side (Posto 6), the closest might be in Leblon -- Nossa and VIPS. VIPS looks truly fabulous, but pricey. Nothing good in Copa (AFAIK).

Does anyone ever remember having dealings with the old Italian guy Franco? Is he still around / alive? I used to rent apts from him back in the day near the beach before airbnb became a 'thing'. If he's still around the old fart must be around 80 by now. 😎 You could always find him in the little shops near the beach having coffee and walking his little dog.

Once Help closed, I stopped going. Two of my friends continue to visit Rio and still rent from Franco. He is doing well. He built a house in Niteroi. He divorced his Brazilian wife and his son should be in his late teens or early twenties.

Would your friends share his number now?

Thinking of going there in May. If so, you can PM me if you'd like 👍.

I am thinking of doing some timeshare investments, for example, an apartment in Rio (Botafogo or barra or centro), and an apartment in Sao Paolo (ideal is rua Augusta, Casarao).
