Can you tell us a little bit more about what will happen in Jan ? I've been out of the loop.
With all the crap going on in San Javier I can't tell if this will be a big year or not for Las Aguilas Negras and their Limpeaza - I bold the parts about Drugs and prostitution - their position on prostitutes is from a spreading of AIDS (SIDA) standpoint. Many gangs take over the street and feel it is their duty to "Clean up" the city from Drug doers/sellers, prostitutes spreading aids and the homeless gamines.

I am not translating this now as I am out the door and I don't want to start a panic here - PM me if you want a translation. I only translated the first paragraph

Suffice it so say it may not happen this year (usually starts end of January) and has happened for the last 6 or 7 years unbeknownst to most of you here. It does not really affect Parque Lleras Poblado areas but does affect Centro and hillside barrios AT NIGHT.

Since we are talking about drugs and since safety is a major concern I think the fact that this exists should be sufficient enough to steer those looking to score weed to STAY OUT of Centro and nearby areas and parks at night. It is so much easier to score in Poblado. I have faith that none of you wander into dangerous barrios populares at night.

This happened last year. I was curious to know about the "espacio publico". That was a community group working with the cops to get back control of the streets. I saw them all over centro looking to narc on people for anything.

I saw them all over centro looking to narc on people for anything.I'm a little skeptical about the "limpieza social" rhetoric in these "announcements." Is it really about stopping drug consumption and p4p? Or is it about controlling those businesses and asserting control over an area by killing off some of the street characters?

To me, it sounds like an excuse for a gang to wage a turf war but in any case, it's good to stay informed when it's "social cleansing season." :) But even in normal times, there's no need for a gringo to hang out in any of those dicey neighborhoods where this kind of stuff takes place, even during daylight hours.

Trusted 3rd party to score weed is the best way. There are foreigners here who can help you out. Or you can go to the vendors around the poblado metro entrance - ask around, place your order (Cripa - pronounced CREEP-uh) and pick up the next day in broad daylight in the safe Poblado area. Those guys will sell multiple joints. You will pay a slight premium until you get dialed in with a better connection - who delivers right to your doorstep. But it's still cheap and most importantly safe. While I still think the cops in MDE have greater priorities than a gringo smoking a joint (like murders, robbery. . .), just avoid smoking and buying in a public space (outside or inside) and it should be fine.

It occured to me after mentioning the hostals in last night's post one other way to get your weed for those with weak Spanish. If you absolutely must score some cripa, just crash in a hostal for 3 days or so and make your contacts there. Then move on to a more comfortable place once you've accumulated a small stash.

Just be aware sometimes, there's a really strung out or addicted character staying there. He'll get you anything right away as long as you pay for some of his needs. That way can cost you more but it's a sure thing, as long as you don't feel too guilty about furthering someone's self-destructive path!

Espacio Publico and the vigilante groups are two different things. EP is a community based policing group ie. citizen watch group and the other madness is a para militar off the rocker thingy.

Both are to be taken seriously.

It has been mentioned many times before that colombians are not crazy about gringos going to colombia to screw their women. It would be wise to mention an alibi as to why you are in colombia..ie. photography business exploration. Regardless how good your alibi is they will still know why you are there but at least you aren't being crude about it.

Colombians are intelligent people and do not like to be treated like crap. Some other SA countries are more humble to these sort of things. Colombia is not one of those places.

Yea yea yea, I love people who act like there the only ones who travel Latin America, Blah blah blah! I am not going to argue with you. But you do things your way because you know your limitations, I will do mine my way. Happy Travels( stay in well lighted areas and lock your doors at night)

Go for it. A man of your obvious experience and guile will do fine in your own mind.

But it's not just me. Anybody with a real understanding of Latin America will tell ya that with that attitude and mentality in Colombia, it's only a matter of time until you are caught up by the laws of DARWIN.

This chick looks good and all but that is way too much. I know this is Mde but I was in Ctg at Tu Candela. I was at the bar asking for a round of Heinikens beautiful chick comes up to me starts talking blah blah blah. So I ask. So what are your plans tonight? Thats was my Q. So I said about how much would this costs me? She says for you looks me up and down like she is buying a used car and says 80k. I said hmmm you know what I am really looking for is a threesome. I think I may pass. Started to grab the beers and head back. All of a sudden another beautiful chica comes up and she says What do you think about the 2 of us? Is this what you are looking for. I could not help but smile a little bit. I have a great poker face but comeon there is only so much a guy can take. So I said look the thing is I only have 150 k Can you guys split that. They said yes I paid the bar tab got the hell back to the apt. Best time of my life long story short. In the morning they got me up in both ways. Made breakfast! And left arond 9am or so. So this chic wants 300 for 2 hours. Ask her if her name is Sofia Vergara. LOL.Caliguy. Nice story. That's the kind of stuff that makes this so fun. You never know when lighting will strike.

I always bring a small amount of cash for the US taxi and a cart or something to eat and drink at the airport but the rest will be all credit cards and ATM.. Citibank will give you the highest daily withdrawal limit but it comes at a hefty price. 2-3% PLUS a foreign transaction fee. Unless you have a citigold account. Try looking into a "no fee" card.

I've done some browsing and searching on the forum, and haven't come up with a lot about threesomes in Colombia. Compared with places I've visited that have dedicated clubs (Bangkok's Eden), clubs with pairs of girls roaming the floor offering them (Germanic country FKK's), massage parlors with "four hand" options explicitly on offer (Manila, Budapest, Bucharest), or escort services (sites I've seen in various places but never tried), there doesn't seem to be a lot of threesome much less group action on offer. Is this a cultural thing?
Any ideas about the places that would be most likely to have this - ie., would massage parlors be more open to these than casas or stripclubs? And how would you bring this up in Spanish? My Spanish is lacking though I've faked my way in various countries, but is there a particular phrase to use? Any ideas or experiences with particular places or costs (any locations, I'm sill working out my route) would be highly appreciated!

Say "Quiero dos chicas al mismo tiempo" (I would like two girls at the same time). That will positively get the ball rolling for you. PM me if you want any other phrases translated.

A threesome is just a "trio" and should not be hard to find in almost any place... especially in the clubs I think would be your best bet as there are just more girls concentrated there in one place... may be hard to get your ideal combination in a casa or massage place where there are only 4 or 5 girls working....

I never got 2 at the same time but last time I was in Santa Fe one girl offered to send her friend in after we had finished and before I had gotten dressed. I didn't even know how she looked but I said yes. Hell you gotta figured I had already paid 10K for the room, 20K for the first chica, what was another 20K. So 2 back to back chicas and a room for 50K couldn't be beat...especially at 6am.

Hi,

I have never been in Colombia or written anything in the Colombia forum. I spend my mongering time in East Europe. Anyway, I will possibly in connection with business be several times in Colombia after new year.

There are 4 cities that opbviously are good for fun: Bogota, Cali, Cartagena and Medellin. It would be interesting if some of the Colombia specialist will evaluate the cities regarding both P4P as well as semipros and freebies? I was thinking to spend some days in Cartagena, the combination of Caribbean coast and lots of girls is a winner:)! However, I may also travel more a round.

To get some impression of Colombian women I looked into Colombia Cupid. Are there any pros or semipros hidden there ?

After looking at the girls there, I notice 3 things:

1. Many girls/woman are rather fat: "too much junk in the trunk"! Is that what you also see when walking the streets? My impression has always been that Colombian women are VERY beautiful - and many are on the dating site too. But when you see photos in full size or look at height and weight, many even very young ones are quite big!

2. I see a surprising number of very good-looking women between 30 and 40, obviously they stay in great shape? is this real or is it good photoshopping?

3. There are a lot of single mothers.

Anybody wants to comment?

Hey Explorer,

For what its worth I will take a stab at some of your comments/observations. Know that I base this on my 3 weeks in January of this year AND the whole month of May this year also.

My observations are primarily from the Bogota area where I spent most of my time then did some adventure type stuff way out in the country.

#1 fat/junk in the trunk - I too am a spinner kinda guy so yes you do need to look a bit haarder for the thin spinner type as the Colombian womans body style and the image that is totally acceptable and, some would argue, admired by Colombian men is a very very curvey body. I must say that after spending a month straight this does grow on you as I am starting to see the real beauty of a curvey woman.

#2 30 to 40 year olds - they are in good shape, not all 30-40's but many are, this IS NOT photoshopping as the woman that you see on Colombian Cupid are real - I know as I have meet some of them, matter-of-fact they are usually better looking IMHO than the poor quality photos that they post on the dating sites.

#3 single mothers - BIG cultural problem that the girls have babies at usually 14 to 17 yo, you see being a catholic majority country abortions are a no-no (unlike Eastern Europe and Russia where abortion is THE birth control system they use). The sperm donner father SOB is seldom around after as they just want to fuck-em and move on. This is the acceptable norm/culture as the boys are coddled by their mothers, on and on and so the cycle just keeps repeating itself. Big problem with no end in sight for generations to come.

With all this being said I am planning on a trip in January 2011 to Baranquilla and Cartagena as I am already getting them on-board for my arrival :-)

I dunno about personal tastes but compared to anywhere in the US women are still a helluva lot more on the skinny side. They are on the average a good 3-4" shorter though... Colombia is not a place for anybody who strongly prefers tall women...

The abortion thing, abortions are extremely common here, this isn't a Catholic country any more than Quebec or Italy or Portugal or Spain still are Catholic... girls all over the world have kids in their teens... Colombia actually has a LOWER birth rate than the USA does....

Keep in mind that on those dating sites, most of the time you are looking at the LOW-HANGING FRUIT... at least by local standards... anybody over 25 is (IMO wrongly) considered damaged goods, anybody with a less than stunning body, anybody with a kid or two in tow, all those women are going to have extreme difficulty landing a decent catch here in Colombia... so that's what you're going to see on the site...

Anybody wants to comment? You missed something that might be important. Medellin has mostly beautiful white(some people say pale) women. Before I always liked dark women but Medellin changed that for me. Cali has alot of darker women, and a good mixture. Also Cali has a different vibe than Medellin. Never been to Cartegena but I hear there and Baranquilla have darker ladies. Thats what I love about Colombia, the transition with styles. It has so much to be discovered, but for now I'm hooked on Medellin. I'm the type of guy that buys a CD for one song and keeps playing repeat on that song. Then one day you take a long ride and hear the rest of the CD and like that, and forget about the first song. Get it?

Fellas,

I am purchasing a ticket from LAX to BOG but I notice there is a layover in Caracas for like 7-8 hours. Is this a wise idea, or should I just pay a little more and fly more direct? I speak Spanish fluently, no problems there. I would have time to catch a taxi somewhere hit a few casas and head back to the airport and catch my flight.

Any advice, greatly appreciated.

Why do these women in Latin America continue to carry purses when they know there is a propensity of being robbed? My girlfriend in Cali was robbed Monday in the middle of her block while waiting for the bus. She had her 2 cellulars, money, credit card, and all of her ids in her bag. To me a purse just screams out "Come get me please" to a robber. It is a damn shame, especially seeing that all of that shit could have fit into her pockets.

Also I know in Peru but I can not remember about Colombia that if you call a cell phone that uses the same carrier then it is cheaper than calling one of a different carrier so many people have more than one phone or at least SIM cards from various companies.

And carrying around all of her money and a credit card? Talking about putting all your eggs in one basket. If there is anything that I have learned from mongering it is to carry around no more than the amount of money you will need for immediate use.

Do you have to pay customs or duty or a fee to bring a desktop / tower computer into Columbia? I will not bring a monitor; it's too heavy.

When you answer this question please state your certainty as a percent. "I'm 95% sure you can bring a tower thru customs" for example.

If it's not a problem, send me a PM.

How would customs know her age?

If she is a girlfriend and her family knows you and there are expectations, that is a different story.

Johan:

I understand what you're saying, but let's take a hypothetical case when an American has sex with a 16 year old in Colombia or Honduras, and takes some pictures / videos for his own personal use. Accidentally, these pictures are discovered (for instance in a customs search, or his disgruntled girl friend discovers them, etc). Can that expose him to legal trouble in USA? I am just curious what the letter of law is on this issue.

But I do agree with you that the best policy would be to just stick with the 18 and above population! J. G.

if she is a girlfriend and her family knows you and there are expectations, that is a different story. a us law was passed several years ago that holds american citizens accountable to us laws pertaining to age of consent. so if the legal age of consent in another country is below 18, you can still be prosecuted in the us for corruption of a minor or worse ****phelia.

how would customs know? us law has a precedent for determining age based upon pictures and video, which is scientifically determined by hip-to-waist ratio, breasts, etcetra.

the best advice given is to not take photo's of your conquest and do not tell others about it. there have been very few instances of prosecution under this law, but profiling does occur and a frequent traveler to locations known for **** interactions can and most likely will be "flagged" by customs for special consideration. if visual content is found to be of questionable age, the burden of proof is on the citizen, not the government, to proove inocence.

be carefull out there! it only takes one time to ruin a life.

what the united states law says. 18 usc 2423 (c) , is among other things that you can't have commercial sex with a girl under 18, that is to say, pay for it. so this law is uniform, it doesn't matter what the law of the destination country is. if you hook up with an **** (under 18) prostitute, you have violated the law.

Do you have to pay customs or duty or a fee to bring a desktop / tower computer into Columbia? I will not bring a monitor; it's too heavy.

When you answer this question please state your certainty as a percent."I'm 95% sure you can bring a tower thru customs" for example.

If it's not a problem, send me a PM. I'm 63. 9% sure that 43. 78% of your responses will be 73. 1% accurate.

I'm also 100% sure you don't know how to spell the name of the country.

On the other hand I'm 100% sure I've brought both PC towers, monitors, laptops, and Revos into the country without having to pay duty. I'm also 100% sure that YMMV.

One is for her job and one is her personal.

And of course you replaced all the stolen items immediately. Hello? She's lying!

I wonder how much time I need in between to catch a domestic flight? Two hours minimum to be safe, I never book a flight that has less than two and a half hours as I have missed my share of connections and it sucks. I'd rather have time to sit and check out the eye candy than miss my flight or be all stressed out worrying if I have enough time if the plane is even a little late. Keep in mind that you have to wait to claim your bags and take the shuttle to a different terminal.

Most in Colombia (who I know) do not carry a purse / pocket book when out for fun. When I am out with the my pockets are there's, not only for payment but to store the celullar and other thinks that do not fit into the tiny pockets of the Colombiana's jeans.

Does anyone know the general date / location of the "Best Butt" or Mejor Cola competition for Colombia? I know there's the Mejor Cola del Valle one in Cali for that region, but, just wondering when and where the national one is? Also, of course, I'd like to know if the girls are typically available for extra-curriculars. I'm sure the price is ridiculous if so? Also, trying to find out about the Chicas Car Audio girls. Is it a tour or a competition? Dates / Locations?

And of course you replaced all the stolen items immediately. Hello? She's lying! She was not lying dude. This is not a hooker I am talking about. This is someone whose house I stay at anytime I want. She has never asked me for anything. I have even started to make improvements at her house that she does not even want (such as hot water and electric appliances) so it will be more comfortable to my North American standards. So there is no need to concoct such a story.

Also a few days ago my number 1 novia in Lima was assaulted as well. She is a manager at an international accounting firm. She was at a light in broad daylight and there was other traffic as well. A guy broke her passenger side window, grabbed her by the hair and demanded her purse. Well she keeps her purse in the trunk. The only thing that was close was her Blackberry so he took that. It is a damn shame too. Do you know how long it took her to upgrade that damn phone. For years she had been carrying around an ancient artifact that she could not even text from. Here is a link with a picture of the broken window in her car.

Why don't Latinas understand the difference between Christmas and Christmas Eve? They all think that Christmas is December 24 instead of December 25 because the 24th is when their families get together for dinner and presents. I'm not even Christian and I know the difference. Maybe I just need to start associating with smarter people.

Anyway if you think Christmas Eve and Christmas day is seen differently then you will find (at least in Colombia) that Holy week observance basically ends on Saturday and not Sunday. I have no idea why and I don't care to know but at least I know that it is so.

understand the difference but the celebration starts on the eve, maybe because the savior was jewish and all jewish holidays begin on the eve.

maybe you should be the smarter (not book smarter) and understand how it is done outside of your beliefs. my friends in the us, from various countries, do the same, in that most gifts are opened the night before.

i guess no one (from poor countries) will let santa in at night fearing he might be there to [CodeWord123] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord123), kill or rob. he could be from the farc, some mexican cartel or worse! maybe because most homes are without chimneys therefore santa cannot scoot down one so gifts are put under the tree before the night on the 24.

they do not call the 24th christmas, they call it something about the birth of the child of god; if you take the time to listen to the conversations you will hear the children being asked what they received for the eve of the birth of god.

maybe if you took your head out of the books and actually observed the culture you will know more than to worry about the celebrations of the 24 into the 25. this year it is even worse because rolling into sunday means less action for you. three days you might be shut out if you did not have the right connections in advance. after all isn't this the time the family starts gathering for the 25, the 24, 23 or sooner.

sorry, this is not intended to insult but to educate and to amuse after all with all your intelligence you did not take the time to learn the people in the few days before the holiday as they went about lives in front of you. you should know they are very religious and most shut their legs (for money) during religious periods. these are also times they might open their hearts to those they deem deserving, the hardest puta can be the warmest lady during their holidays, please try to get to know how you are preying.

Nice post Justafool,

The 24th is called NOCHE BUENA.

Regarding women closing their legs on religious holidays, many colombianas will not have sex during Holy Week and Easter Sunday. They believe that the penis might become PEGADO, or in english STUCK in the vagina. Very strange of course, but part of the cultural thinking. I don't think they teach this in any of the universities Mr. Enter attended.

As you stated JUSTA, one must learn to accept the culture as it is, without reasoning.

In no catholic country or region do they celebrate Christmas on the 25th, it's always on the 24th. Or just after midnight. If you count that as the 25th :P.

I've never heard of the no sex during Christmas or holy week, maybe it's a paisa thing, they have all these weird superstitions. Anyways I've never had a problem with that. Last year I had sex on sabado de gloria. The penis came out normally.

I was trying to have a discussion about this on another Colombia forum and the fucking intolerant prude asshole running it deleted the thread so I'll repost it here.

Saw a report the other day saying that there are over 200, 000 REGISTERED sex workers in Bogota alone. Think about how high that number is. There could easily be many times that amount working as semi pros, or off the books etc. Goes to show what I expected all along. In a city of 7. 5 million people probably half of the women between 15-50 years of age here have charged for sex at one time or another.

So if you're looking for a non-pro, what you probably have on your hands is a semi-pro.

Even in my own personal life, most of the girls I sleep with that I DON'T pay have admitted to me they charged for sex at one time or another.

In short, if you're coming to Colombia looking for a woman who's going to fuck nobody else but you, boy, are you ever barking up the wrong tree :P

You appear extremely misinformed on many levels, no disrespect intended. The customs of cultures outside of your culture are bound to be a either a ittle different or perhaps even vary greatly. Why not ask, "Why do they speak Spanish in Colombia instead of English?"

I can think of about 7 countries outside of South America (the continent) that celebrate Christmas exclusively on the eve which lasts well after midnight, reveil, Denmark, Spain, Philippines, Finland, Italy, Sweden. Many in melting pot countries, the US for example Italian Americans, exhange gifts and have the big family shin dig on Christmas eve, midnight mass, fish dinner, etc. Just like it is back in their home country of Italy. Is this tradition of Christmas eve being the big thing and the 25th taking the back seat really that foreign to anyone on this board? WhõreMonger or regular guy? I don't think so.

It is usualy the self proclaimed scholars who are the most ignorant. Trust me when I say pro or non pro woman follow the same calendars and customs, and Christmas eve is more the holiday than Christmas day in most countries outside of the US and England and Eastern Europe.

Dear esteemed members of ISG Colombia,

Thanks to your steamy reports and pictures I'm strongly considering visiting Colombia in the very near future (Feb-Mar '11). However, these news of the flood of the century are giving me willies. I was going to visit popular tourist areas e. G. Bogota, Villa de Leyva, Coffee Zone, Cartegena with Medellin as a highlight of the trip. From English news it seemed like the whole country was flooded like New Orleans in 2006. I saw the pics and there were lots and lots of water. So I have a few questions.

A) Is bus travel still possible in Antioquia province?

Be) what about Coffee Zone?

See) Wouldn't crime rise a bit with so many people displaced?

The) What is the situation on ground in general in the areas I mentioned?

I really appreciate honest info. I'd really love to visit Colombia soon and to help those beautiful chicas learn English.

I do not see the 1000 posts per page print option. I hadn't tried it in a long while, and when I looked for it just recently, I just couldn't find it. Did it go away because of some type of upgrade? If so, if anyone has any suggestions about how to be able to print more than a dozen or so posts at a time, it would be very helpful and appreciated.

Thanks,

Generally it's been low-lying areas in tierra caliente that have been most affected by the rain. Most routes to and from major destinations are fine, sometimes there are some detours they have to take. It really depends on where you are going. But for the most part, bus travel is as normal, which means slow and uncomfortable :P.

Crime is generally not up because of all the displacement, those aren't the kind of people who were going to rob you in the first place usually. Poverty has very little to do with crime in Colombia, its much more about being able to get away with it.

The dollar rose because the Colombian central bank went for another round of buying USD. Didn't have anything but the most short term effect.

Thanks for the info. MHL. I just purchased some minutes so lets see what happens, as the minutes have not been added to the telephone as of yet, which was about 10 minutes ago. By the way, your friend Urban sends his greetings! He sent you an email awhile back after you had asked another member about him, but he says you never got back in touch. He is doing quite well. I tried to use some smilies but they do not seem to be working since Jackson changed the format.

Hope all is well on your end of the world, and thanks again for the website link above. Ahhh Thanks for the info! Thats one of my dormant emails. I will check it out! He's a good guy and we have always had cordial conversations. I don't know why he rubs people the wrong way on here sometimes.

Listen I had to call the company the first time considering you are a new customer they like to be called to verify information first. The lady told me after the first time they verify information it will instantaneous. So the second I got off the phone with the rep, my lady friend got the recharge. Peace MHL

Any news about flood waters receding? This stupid El Nino season is surely messing up a lot of great journeys.

On the other hand, rainy days are good for one particular activity.

Any news about flood waters receding? This stupid El Nino season is surely messing up a lot of great journeys.

On the other hand, rainy days are good for one particular activity. I drove from BAQ to Tolu beach today, going inland thru the flooded parts of Bolivar, then crossing the Magdalena river on a big bridge, then going thru some hills. The road then splits, going to MEdellin on the left and Cartagena on the right. The road continues to Cartagena, but I turned off on the road to Monteria / Sincjelo and Tolu, which road was in terrible condition with lots of pot holes.

All the roads were open. The flood waters were high, with 6 ft of water in many houses, but below the level of the roads. In some destroyed villages, the people were living in tents and makeshift shacks on the road shoulder (only high ground in the neighborhood that wasn't under water). Very sad.

Was in Cali too. Floods have receded and roads are open again. There are still some low lying agricultural areas that are flooded, but the flooded industrial areas that I saw in Nov have been drained.

Drove from Cartagena to BAQ last week along the coastal route, no problem.

I found this on CL posting a few days ago under Colombia vacation rentals. Negative to say the least, any board members wish to comment?

Hi.

Yes it is true.

You now can choose from 6. Yes SIX. Vacant dusty apartments.

They all have the newest most modern electronics and furniture.

And that stuff is expensive down there.

The idea was to have some great places available for rent but it.

Seems every gringo and his dog had the same idea, so now there.

About a dozen of us gringos with about a dozen apartments each and we.

Are all trying to rent to the hapless gringo tourist who still.

Thinks that Medellin is still a cool place to hang out.

A few years ago it was but not anymore. Medellin is yesterday's flavor.

Maybe while Uribe was president, it was a real cool place but now.

That he is gone it has gotten just downright dangerous again.

Gringos being accosted and robbed on the streets and while casually strolling in parks.

Screwed with at every opportunity.

You don't think there is a huge police presence because it is safe do you?

You should hear some of the stories I could tell you about the apartment renovations.

Oh why did I ever get involved?

When I first visited Medellin I was a pretty wealthy guy with a net worth of almost two million dollars.

I spent a good chunk of that buying the apartments and now the expenses are eating me alive.

All I used to do was spend my time there with all my pretty girlfriends and it was nice.

Then I decided to get involved. Bought apartments.

Tried to start renting apartments to what are.

Essentially poor gringos who are trying to save 2 bucks a night.

What a pain in the butt.

Not to mention the monthly nut on the apartments is almost 3000 us dollars.

So anyway now I have 6 dusty vacant apartments in Medellin waiting.

For renters and I am sitting here in snowy New York freezing my butt off.

How did this happen?

Anyone want to rent (or buy) 6 vacant dusty apartments in Medellin?

Thanks for everyone who has added so much to this forum. I've spent the last several weeks reading this thread (starting in the beginning of 2005!). It's been very interesting to follow a poster asking questions weeks before their first trip, a few last questions just before leaving and the follow-up after wards. Thank you all.

There were 2 posts (or group of post) that I found the most memorable.

The first is this compendium of mongering information by Routard in February of 2008.

Chica Management: See thread #1113 (Sorry. I don't know how to link just 1 post).

Chica Management lesson 1 beginner: Rookie: See thread #1112 (I stopped here!)

Chica Management Level 2 intermediate: Todo La Noche : See thread #1111.

Chica Management Level 3 advanced: dating a pro: See thread #1110.

Chica Management Level 4 expert: non pro: See thread #1109.

Chica Management Level 5 "Gone too far": Living together: See thread #1108.

The second was by Gonzo in June of 2009 titled, Personal Travel Security Measures: See thread #1601.

In late July, I will be traveling on consecutive days starting from MDE to Cali to Armenia to MDE to Cali to Armenia then a day off. Then Armenia to Cali to Pereira (and then 2 days off). Then, I'll be in Pereira then Armenia / Manizales. Then I have a few days to relax.

Given my rigorous travel schedule, will the inter-city buses work for me? Most of my activities start late in the afternoon (5pm) , so I'll have the whole day to travel to the next city. Of course, I could take a night bus but I won't be able to leave before 11pm-midnight. I was thinking that once that I got to Armenia, I would get a hotel where I could leave most of my gear, but clothes and stuff for the next couple of days. Thoughts on this plan?

My difficulty is that most of the bus companies don't have schedules, so I could validate the feasibility.

I considered flying (especially the MDE to Cali leg) , but I worried about the cost (when factoring in bags) and I want to experience culture. One of the ways that I've done that in the past is by chatting with my fellow travelers.

Anyone have an update on the casa, MP, SW, call girls in Armenia? I'm not looking for a GF / GFE, instead I'm looking for a good time and for the lady to go home. This is what I like about pros.

Here's some of the previous posts on buses specifically between Cali and MDE.

I was curious to know if anyone has done MDE to Cali by bus and can somebody refer me to a bus company with executive class seating? I would be happy to pay whatever it costs.

*A bathroom on board is a must have for me.

Are there any towns along the way worth a stay over as far as mongering or photography is concerned?

Also can anyone tell me if there is a "centro" in Cali like in Medellin? I am asking this in hopes of locating economic hotels. In Medellin's centro you can walk around and find several of these hotels.

* Does somebody not recommend staying in economic hotels in Cali due to extreme heat and the need for a good AC? What are you thoughts?

Thank you for your time.

But I have never seen "first class" bus sevices. I think it is teminal Sur, and all the buses are the same. Quite comfortable with a small bathroom for all to use but at times it was locked.

The seats are comfortable and they do show a DVD (so if you want to hand one over they and ask them to play it for you.

There are afew compaies Boliviana comes to mind. I am not sure which I rode to Cali but I have used to others for Buga and surrounding areas.

I usually take the last bus out about 10:30 so I can arrive and enjoy the day but this has backfired at times when the bus was stuck in some mountain due to a mudslide or something.

Sit back enjoy!
I have done the whole thing by bus, but in segments, I. E. Cali- Armenia, Manizales- Medellin.

Smack dab in the middle of Medellin and Cali is the Eje Cafetera with the three departments of Risalrada (Pereira) , Qundio (Armenia) , and Caldas (Manizales). Definitely highly worth spending some time in.

This is one of the most beautiful areas in the world with gorgeous and stunning green mountains and rolling coffee fields. Incredible weather. Manizales is a very photogenic city, very quaint, hilly little streets, colorful buildings, just gorgeous, VERY FRIENDLY PEOPLE. Great place to take photos. It is a very cool city.

Highly recommend you check out the National Coffee Park (near Armenia). Very beautiful place and a great place to take photos. One of the top tourist attractions in the country. Pereira is perhaps the least interesting of the three cities, although you have plenty of cool stuff nearby (such as bungee jumping of the very cool bridge in town, or skydiving over coffee fields, Santa Rosa de Cabal. Hot springs). Tons of cool little traditional towns ('pueblos paisas') which attract tourists on weekends.

For mongering, Pereira is amazing (and has some of the sexiest women in Colombia. This is where Sin Tetas No Hay Paraiso comes from) , also Manizales is great. Armenia not so much at least IMHO (but has very beautiful women!).

IMHO, this is whole area is more interesting and much more beautiful than Cali or Medellin. As an aside.

Enter attendedWould you continue to be charged per hour during this "predicament"? Would this be considered the tip. Not that I want to start that discussion, again! .

The companies do have regular schedules and traveling by bus is very inexpensive. Some of the larger bus companies include: Empresa Arauca, Flota Magdalena, and Expresos Brasilia Bolivariano and Expresso Palmiranda.

I have used Flota Occidental. I have always had good experiences with their buses, schedules and staff. I highly recommend the company. When you can receive private messages I will send you an address for a small motel in Armenia that you can leave your gear.

Bolivariano actually has its schedules posted on the net, the rest of the companies you have to call.

My favorite company is the Expreso Palmira, the S26 with those big yellow buses. It's good fast and CHEAP. Velotax Berlinas Brasilia and Bolivariano are all good. Flota Magdalena I had a bad experience with. It seems their fleet is not that well maintained. Breakdowns.

AVOID Auto Fusa at all costs. And watch most of the little companies. You want to avoid any company that picks up people on the road while travelling. I've seen some of those buses get packed like Tokyo subways because of greedy-ass bus drivers.

I've used Flota Occidental a couple of times from Medellin to Pereira and back. A good bus line with comfortable seats and bathroom in the back. The buses are Mercedes Benz made. They have 2 classes of buses, I think the more modern bus is called the Presidente, but it doesn't run as often as the regular buses.

Price: 29, 000 to 32, 000 to Pereira.

Just ask for Sildenafil, the generic name for Viagra. No prescription needed for either by the way.

Hello, fellow hunters. I having survived my first week or so in Colombia I thought I would post my thoughts here

In the hopes it will help other newbs that are considering visiting this fine country. I have traveled a bit around.

The Pacific Rim and caribbean in a military capacity, but have never been south of Dom Rep or Yucatan before.

Disclaimer 1: This is not a P4P review. I have not had the opportunity to partake of any pro action yet, and

I don't think I will until I arrive in Medellin sin mi novia. Good God. This girl drains me every day. I don't.

Even have the energy to rub one out anymore. LOL.

Disclaimer 2: My total experience in Colombia is only a week and and a half. This is what I have experienced in.

That time in Cali and Bogota. YMMV. Much of what is here will not be news to Colombian veterans. This is intended to help newb like myself.

Jackson, if you feel this report is inappropriate on account it is not a pro review, feel free to move or delete.

I have placed it in the general section as it does not pertain to the pros or one particular city.

On with the show.

Safety: A primary concern for newb visitors, at least for this one. Here's the scoop: Cali and Bogota are cities.

There is crime. You are a target. I am from the St. Louis area and I would say that street crime is about the same.

The difference is, I can recognize and avoid trouble in St. Louis. It is more difficult here. My novia has

Assisted by pointing out which barrios are safe and which are not. I have been in an Estrada 2 barrio (her madre)

Up to an Estrada 5 barrio (her sisters boyfriend). I am currently staying in an apartment in an Estrada 4 barrio.

Really the only one that made me uncomfortable was the E. 2. I felt ok being there with her family, but I sure would

Not want to be there alone. Knowing Spanish can.

Help a little, but not much. For example, I would not have considered taxi's to be dangerous. But my novia has.

Warned me to only take a taxi that I call on the phone. If I take a taxi on the street there is a good chance that

I will be taken on 'the millionaire's walk'. In other words, mugged via taxi. She and her amigas will never take.

A taxi they do not call. She says that if you talk to the cabbie and you are obviously not from the area, you will.

Most certainly be in trouble. It is not just grino's either. Her amiga was mugged in Cartegena via taxi. She was.

A target because she had a Calena accent. (I can't tell the difference).

The biggest contributor to your safety? Friends. Before you arrive make friends. Find a novia. Or an amigo. Once.

They introduce you to thier friends and family, you are now friends with them all. They will look out for you. If.

I had not had my novia guiding me, this would have been a VERY different report.

Chickas: Good god. Really. WTF happened in america? I arrive in Cali, bang the shit out of my novia all night.

She has to work the next day, but gets up early to make me breakfast in bed and do the dishes. I said "Thanks".

She gave me a strange look and asked "For what?". Really? Really? WHERE THE HELL HAVE THESE WOMEN BEEN ALL MY

LIFE? Oh yea, Colombia.

Guys, if you are considering coming here for the women, just do it. I have been here one week and in two big cities.

I have seen ONE fat chick. ONE! Don't get me wrong, there are not streets of supermodels walking around everywhere.

There are girls of all shapes and (not fat) sizes who all make an effort to look attractive. Every day. No

Sweat pants and flip flops here. I am not even sure how to describe their behavior other than to say they act like.

Women. Feminine. They actually enjoy sex. They will ask for it. Seriously. Something has gone horribly wrong

In America.

Transportation: Daunting at first, but easy once you know your way around. Taxi's are NOT for taking you somewhere

You don't know. First, the safety aspect (see above). Second, taxi drivers seem utterly incompetent here.

I have had several that did not (or pretended not) to know where they were going, even with my novia with me.

Take a taxi only if you must, or

If you can tell them exactly how to get to your destination.

Buses; they are good. They seem very safe and easy to use. The only drawback is you have to know exactly where.

You are going (barrio). You have to look for the small sign in the window to see if the bus is going to your

Destination and know exactly where to get off. Newb tip: When you get on the bus, HOLD ON RIGHT AWAY! As soon as

Your foot touches the step on the bus, it is moving. Quickly.

Walking; I would not suggest unless you are with a amigo / amiga / novia. There have been many places where I felt.

Safe to walk that my novia would not go. Make friends and listen to them. They know their town.

Living Space: There are plenty of apartments for rent in the cities. You can find them online, obviously, but again.

It helps to make friends. My novia managed to find me an apartment at 3/4 the price I could find online.

The apartments here are small by American standards. If it is important to you, make sure you specify that.

You want hot water. It is not standard here. Air Condition is not standard here, though honestly I seldom use mine.

Coming from the midwest, I actually find the weather in Cali not as hot as August in Missouri. And Bogota was.

Cool. Comparable to Seattle in the Spring. If you are staying longer than a week, I recommend an apartment.

Time: Does not happen here as it does in the states. When you have an appointment at two in the afternoon, as long.

As you arrive before three you are considered on time. And most likely, if you are depending on a local for

Transportation, you will not arrive before three. If something you had planned does not get done today, oh well.

There is always manana. Being an american this will tend to stress you. Just take a breath and calm down.

It is simply the way it is here. Relax and understand that no one cares if you are late.

Food: Awesome. I have found very few things that I did not like, and even fewer that I could not at least tolerate.

It will taste different at first. You will think BLEH! Because it is not what you are used to. Give it a chance.

Come back later and try it again, with an open mind. You will most likely come to like it. One point of note: there.

Is NO fresh milk here. It is all shelf-stable milk. Prepare yourself for that as it can taste different.

Cali: Not a bad city. I would compare it to St. Louis, Charleston or Cincinnati. Kind of dirty with some bad areas,

But all in all not a bad city. Obviously not a big name for P4P like Medellin, but there is some game here.

Plenty of non-pros. Very friendly people. I am attending classes here at Universidad de Santiago and have joined.

A gym. At both places people are very friendly and helpful. They even speak a few words of english, though Spanish.

Is necessary to communicate well. Surprisingly, even the mom and pop shops are super friendly to an obvious gringo.

And understand a few words of English. Kudos to them. They are much more personable than some shop owners in

The big cities in America. FYI, Cali=Salsa. Be prepared. And they apparently do not drink too much in Cali. At.

Least not in my novia's social circle. We went to a bar and she had two drinks. I shit you not, two mixed drinks.

And came home and passed out cold on the bed. Easy date, I guess.

Bogota: Big city. Comparable to LA or New York. South side is the getto, north side is the rich part of town.

Weather comparable to Seattle, Portland or San Fransisco. Again, friendly people but a bit more abrupt. Fun things

To see here, including the monastery at Monsurrate, the Presidential Palace, etc. Lots of shopping. Where Cali=Salsa,

Bogota=Rock. And they are in love with English and American Rock and Pop. It is freaking hilarious to hear these.

Chickas talk in English. I can understand their Spanish better than their English because of their accent-and I

Don't really speak Spanish, LOL. Good city to visit, but I don't know if I would stay there for any length of time.

Parting Tip for those thinking of visiting: Make friends. Get on R, CC, hell even facebook.

Make some friends.

Learn Spanish, obviously. If you intend to take Spanish classes here, as I am, I highly recommend you at

Least learn your numbers and greetings. And I don't mean 1-10. I mean all numbers up to 1000. This has been the

Most difficult part of communicating for me is not understanding when someone tells me a street number or how.

Much something costs.

If any of you find these reports helpful, I will continue. We will visit the coffe areas in two weeks (Armenia,

Manizales, etc) and at the end of the month I will be traveling to MDE for some P4P before returning home.

I am considering the Mansion, at least for a few days. Waiting to see how things shake out in the Mansion thread. If anyone has any questions feel free to send a PM.

Good hunting, all.

Is there a pharmacy I can hit up prior to leaving the airport where I can get some Viagra. Prior to heading out and meeting my novia. In the international terminal Eldorado, go to the check in level. In the center of all the lines and at either end of the room are stairs that go up to the departure area. If you go up the stairs in the middle, turn right and head toward the domestic departure area. There is no security to go through here, just lots of food places and shops, ATMs etc. You will find the farmacia about halfway down on the right. They have generic Viagra. I usually buy some 50mg tablets on the way out. Ask for the cheapest ones, as there are various brands of generic Viagra, with prices varying from 75 cents to $3. 50 (or more in Cartagena). I usually buy at the farmacia of a major supermarket such as EXITOS as they have the best prices. Hope this helps.

There is no security to go through here, just lots of food places and shops, ATMs etc. You will find the farmacia about halfway down on the right. It is right across from the room with the ATMs.

If you've been thinking about a trip to Latin America, American Airlines is offering some very low fares if you purchase your tickets by February 25, 2011, and begin travel by April 10, 2011. All travel needs to be complete by July 10, 2011. For example, a one-way flight between Seattle and Bogota, Colombia is only $315 (plus taxes).

ThanksTry 2 things set your settings on trip advisor from Sfo to Mde and they will alert you on fares. I just came back from Bog and prchased my ticket for $430 from Sfo. Second option is fly from Lax to Mde on Spirit. Only thing is you have to get to Lax as they do not service Sfo. You can just get fly Southwest web fares for $69. I think anything over $600 to Colombia from Sfo is overpaying. Spirit is a great option even if you have to fly from Lax.

As promised, here is the second and final general report following four weeks in Cali. Same disclaimers as before: This is not a review of pro action, and these are the views of a Colombian newb for other newbs. YM, and your opinion, MV.

Safety (update) : My previous post remains with the following addendum: Generally you are safe walking around in the daytime unless you are in a very obviously bad barrio. It seems Cali is the only city where you have to seriously worry about taking a taxi in the street. We have visited Bogota, Buga, Armenia, Peredia, Santa Rosa, and Manizales. In every other location the locals have indicated that there is no problem with taking a taxi on the street. I guess it's just in Cali you should always call.

There is this stereotype perpetuated in the States that Colombia is a drug ridden, crime overrun third world country that is not safe.

Chikas: What I said before stands. You should be aware that girls here are really girls, both in the good ways and the bad. They can not drive for shit, don't try to pretend they can and would prefer the man to drive. They are always into drama. For example, when my girl is making out with me at home, she is all into it, eyes closed, moaning, etc. When we are in public she has no problem jamming her tongue down my throat (very common here) , but will stare daggers at every other girl in the place while she is kissing me. LOL It reminds me of a dog that is chewing on his bone while he growls at everyone around him to stay away.

These girls love pictures. It's freakin hilarious. A girl here could be in the middle of a deep discussion about the quantum theory of the universe and if you point a camera at her she will stop, strike a pose just before the shutter clicks, then resume her conversation as if nothing happened.

The girls here are also very affectionate. Even those that are only friends will always hug and kiss you, hang on your arm, etc. It's actually pretty nice to go out for a beer with my novia and have three of her friends also hanging on me. Of course, I'm paying for the drinks.

On that note, expect that ANY girl that is with you, you will be paying for. If we are by ourselves, my novia will occasional offer to pay for things. But if we are out in public with her friends I am always expected to pay. Luckily, the girls in Cali are lightweights. I shit you not, my novia had two mixed drinks in Bogota and passed out cold.

Food: My only addendum here is that cheese in Colombia is horrible. And I mean, truly horrible. But there are many other things to make up for this. Oh, and try aguapanala. That shit is wonderful after a workout.

Driving: I have been driving my novia's car here since I arrived. My thoughts: If you are used to driving in a big city (Chicago, LA, NY) you should have not problem adjusting here. Just drive with a local for awhile to learn the local customs. The traffic here is insane, just like any city. They drive like assholes here (cutting each other off, weaving lanes, tailgating, etc) just like any big city. The difference? There is a distinct lack of hostility here. If the things that happened here happened in the US, there would be (and often are) fistfights in the street, road rage, etc. Here, if you really [CodeWord140] (http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord140) someone off they may shake a fist at you or throw their hands up at you, but mostly they just simply shrug it off and go on about your day. Its kinda like they do what they have to do to make it through traffic, but it's nothing personal.

THere are no super-highways in Colombia. In the better areas you will have a 2 or 4 way divided highway, but most of the roads are two lane type. The roads around Manizales et al. Are winding mountain roads. Be aware. After driving some of the mountain roads in Colorado and Oregon I actually felt the mountain roads here are safer. But if you are not used to these types of road, be aware of the pucker factor. Passing a bus on a narrow two lane bridge 1000 feet above a gorge may not be the best experience for all of you. I just don't think about it too much.

Language: Spanish isn't that hard. I arrived knowing zero Spanish and four weeks later I can hold a very basic conversation with my novia and generally make myself understood with the general public. The hardest part is understanding what people are saying to you. Written spanish I can understand fairly well. But people here speak very quickly and use a lot of slang so it is much harder to understand. But, if you ask them nicely to slow down and speak clearly, they are more then happy to do so and will often try to learn a little english from you.

Ok, that is the end of this report. I will post a review of coffee country in the 'Other Areas' forum for those that are interested. This is my final general report, I will be reporting to Medellin and the Mansion next week so I will have a report for that then. Good hunting, all. See some of you soon at the Mansion.

I just wonder if you are generalizing about the Caleñas' lack of tolerance for booze. Was it all girls or just the ones you were with? The higer end pussy with cars tend to drink and party less. Just sayin'. In Medellin you may just find broads that put you under the table. Hang on to your wallet

I have driven in many big cities. Cars and bikes. But I won't even bother here in Medellin. I am afraid of killing a moto or pedestrian. There are basically no lanes and total lane splitting by the bikes. That is a very bad combination.

Lastly people forget there are two sides to the language. 1.) speaking and 2.) understanding what you hear. The second actually helps more.

Good luck at the mansion, it is a great starting point.

Sorry guys, I hit enter too soon and can't find the edit button for my post.

I said below:

There is this stereotype perpetuated in the States that Colombia is a drug ridden, crime overrun third world country that is not safe.

Add:

This is not true from my perspective. Honesty, for most parts of Colombia I have seen, you could simply switch the signs from Spanish to English and it would not be that much different that any city in America. In some places in America you wouldn't even have to switch the signs to English, LOL. There ARE dangerous places here. But if you stay out of them and stick to the good areas, you will be fine. Same as home. I defy any of you (white) folks to drive through E. St. Louis at one in the morning and not feel that you are in danger. I worked and lived there. You are in danger. Same here. Mess in certain circles and you are putting yourself into danger. Stay in the middle / upper class areas and meet respectable chickas, and you will be fine. Of course, where's the fun in that :P.

Religion: There is no such thing as a non-religious girl here. Before I came, my girl told me many times she is not religious. She does not attend church, does not like the 'holy roller' type people, etc. But let me tell you, every time we are near a church (there are many in Colombia) she is on her knees quicker than a working girl on payday. There is no such thing as a non-religious person here.

The good news? Religion here has absolutely no bearing on sex. The girls here have no qualms with being on their knees at Church on Sunday, and on their knees the rest of the week for other reasons. I guess the Catholic Church here focuses less on the 'damnation and carnal sin' aspect and more on the 'go forth and multiply' aspect. Either way, kudos to them.

If a guy is looking for non-pro and semi-pro not being managed by mamasans so he can take them home, hmmm, I'd say hit some of the border towns as suggested by Black Hawk, and enter the clubs wearing a T-shirt, on the front saying "I am Horny" and then on the back of the shirt, have the word "Mamasan" circled, but with a line through it, denoting 'no Mamasans'.

The working girls in houses of prostitution, strip clubs, places with mamassans, street walkers dressed like putas, massage parlours that offer sex and such I would venture to guess that those are the prostitutes. The rest are probably not.

Where to meet the students you ask? Schools.

Where are the librarians? The library.

Unemployed girls looking for a buck are prostitutes in my book. The non hardened ones don't just go to a secret spot waiting for the gringo to walk buy."The Secret Laundro Mat of swee semi-pro Girls who need money but don't want to work with the mamasan".

Dude, you are obviously trying to manipulate someone and something, so take your bullshit to an immigration attorney, instead of to a mongering forum. What? I have been mongering and reporting on this forum & USA sexguide for 10 years (1 year out of the game). I'm not trying to manipulate anything. The girl is Colombian and "General Info" if you can read is exactly that. General information on Colombia.

I'm sure some mongers have married a Colombian and shit has happened, so I posted here. Where I post a lot of things about pros. Douchebag.

Does anybody have some recent good deals on transportation to the airport. I would prefer a private driver or company. The company I have been using charges 60, 000 COP, rates I have seen hover in this range up to 75, 000 COP.

Thanks in advance,

Enjoy!

By places were to find non pro and semi pros I mean all the places (discoteques- clubs, bars) were the girls are not managed by a man or a mamasan like in the bordels and casas and you can take them with you home instead to fuck them in the back room.Add to the list I've seen in some posts here. Fortaleza, Brasil. Forro Mambo is great. Best "Help" like scene sine Help itself, in my experience, but I'm planning to test that theory by visiting LDV soon.

You've made it to the airport on time. You check the monitors and find your gate number. Now just one last thing: It's time for the big decision.

You can step into the scanner, or you can be taken aside for the security pat-down.

The idea of a thorough pat-down from a complete stranger is pretty unappealing. But at least you know what you're getting into.

The same CANNOT be said for the full-body scan, which remains an unknown health risk. And it looks like "unknown" is the way the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) wants it to stay.

-

X-ray specs

-

It's been months since Congress asked TSA officials to release radiation inspection reports for airport scanner x-ray equipment.

Congress is still waiting. And congressmen are steaming, calling the delay "inexcusable." After all, there's only the health of thousands of airline passengers at stake here.

A TSA spokesperson claims the agency is reviewing the reports to make sure they don't contain "sensitive security or privacy-protected information."

No surprise there. TSA is part of the massive bureaucracy of the notoriously secretive Department Homeland Security (DHS). So keeping details under wraps is what they do best.

The result is what one TSA risk analyst calls a "culture of stupidity."

Wow! That's VERY reassuring.

Here's a good sample of that stupidity: According to the TSA, the radiation dose from the x-ray scan is "tiny-equivalent to what a person receives during two minutes inside an airplane at cruising altitude."

Just one thing-I'm sure the guys at TSA are well aware that "radiation" isn't a one-size-fits-all kind of science.

The radiation we're exposed to at high altitudes is cosmic ionizing radiation. The health risk is minimal unless you're a pilot or another member of an aircrew, in which case you're constantly exposed.

But the radiation from the full body scanner is something else entirely. It's called terahertz wave radiation (THz). According to a Los Alamos National Laboratory study, THz waves "unzip" DNA, creating "bubbles" in DNA's double strand that may interfere with gene expression and DNA replication.

And you can sum up all that in three words: increased cancer risk.

That would be bad enough, but there's a lot more going on here.

According to physics professor Peter Rez, the THz radiation dose in full-body scanners is 10 times higher than DHS claims.

A radiological researcher at Columbia University told USA Today that one billion full-body scans per year in the USA,"may profoundly change the potential public health consequences."

Radiation doses to the skin may be dangerously high, according to University of California at San Francisco scientists. A doctor in the department of biophysical chemistry at Johns Hopkins Medical School agrees, stating that,"statistically someone is going to get skin cancer from these X-rays."

And then sometimes things go wrong. The UCSF scientists add that if the scanner software fails, passengers could receive "severe burns, if not worse."

Finally, the human element adds risk. A couple of years ago, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention investigation found that baggage x-ray machines sometimes emitted excessive radiation which went undetected by TSA employees. In some cases, scanners had missing or disabled safety features.

So what about it, TSA? Is there something in that delayed inspection report you'd rather not share with everyone?

About half of the TSA's full-body scanners are x-ray machines. The other half use electromagnetic wave technology. So when you're asked to step forward to the scanner, stop and ask what type of scanning device is used.

If the answer is "x-ray," maybe a pat-down won't be such a bad alternative. Not for your health, anyway

Last year while going back home I got pulled aside at immigration (The dork asked me how I could afford to travel so much and I told him I actually finished university and got a decent job, which he took badly and got angry and marked my card up in huge red letters, hahaha)No laughing matter and stories like this are piling up. When they look in your passport and see how much you travel, they get envious. You must pre-empt and say immediately things like how you are glad to be back in the best country, your favorite place. Be smiling, make eye contact, and look happy as you speak.

Which airport, if you wouldn't mind telling?

When they look in your passport and see how much you travel, they get envious.Envious? No disrespect but immigration officials see travelers all day long. Yeah they can be assholes but it comes with that type of job.

They are taught that anyone entering the country could be a potential issue. It is their job to spot that. They are supposed to ask questions, perhaps in an acusatory tone or with disbelief, or even questions that are outrageously stupid or simple. They are trying to get you to reveal something. And believe it or not a lot of people do. By the time you are in the back room there had already been raised a red flag by the initial bozo.

They have the right to do this Palermo, thanks to Homeland Security and terrorism. All in the name of protecting the borders.

they didn't so much as look at my suitcase or carry on, just grabbed my laptop and the guy said, 'i'm just going to look at some files'

i have absolutely nothing to hide, so i didn't argue. the guy started asking me who the picture of this girl is (my recently married 24 yr old niece in her wedding dress, wtf?) and who is that?

i started to get pissed but the guy quickly saw there was nothing there and sent me on my way.

what i want to know is, do they have the right to search your files and photos for no reason at all?

i'd like to know 'cause next time i will tell them to fuck off if i'm allowed, lol.

pretty bad invasion of privacy on no grounds if you ask me. the issue is whether these searches violate the 4th amendment to the constitution: protection against unreasonable search and seizures. there is no easy answer. the aclu has recently sued to adjudicate this issue: "abidor v. napolitano: aclu challenges suspicionless laptop border search policy"

only good energy! interesting topic. i found myself in a rather fragile situation this past trip to guatemala. i did a series of photos about over the hill and fat hookers. the photos have nothing to do with porn although there were a few toilet paper rolls and condoms in the photos. they are just photos of nude women in odd looking cubicles.

if i was checked i wonder how it would have played out? the women i photographed were not the ones i slept with minus two out of fourteen. i wonder how they differentiate between porn and nude? i had samples of other photography on my ipad just in case i was stopped but i never needed them. i'd like to travel with those photos on future trips but i am not sure if it's a good idea.

i looked at travel. gov and they only mention child porn which as we all know is and should be illegal.

does photos of hookers = automatic association and therefore punishment?

If I was checked I wonder how it would have played out? Artist I hope this is not some cover up of your "Over the hill washed up hooker fetish" Jejeje just kidding.

My computer is my business and I consider it an extension of my mind or an extension of something I have in my Home closet that is travelling with me. It poses no threat and is not a bomb but if it is found to be so then security has every right to proceed accordingly.

I advise that you copy all your docs and stuff from your lap top to an external drive and leave it at home. Travel with an almost empty laptop. In "My documents" and "pictures" folders have a few random things. Your CV, some white papers or photos of churches and cats.

While on vacation take photos of whatever and store them and anything else you want to remain private in a single folder that contains everything (sub folders not a problem). This way everything is all in the same spot. No need to scramble and look for stuff all over your computer while packing your suitcase on the way to the airport.

Before returning:

Option 1) Email them to yourself (if there are not many things)

Option 2) Zip the file and FTP it to a server or shared storage if you can.

Option 3). More feasible:-

Change the date on your computer to be a past date. At least a few months before you travelled. Zip the file and give it an arcane name like appConfig. Change the extension of the file from. Rar or. Zip TO. Bat. (All lower case) Move that file to an OS directory like Windows / System32. Change the date of your PC back to today's date.

If your PC's setting "hides known file extensions" you will not be able to change the extension you will need to go to Control Panel to uncheck that "hide known extensions" in Folder options. Google that procedure.

Upon returning home rename back to. Zip and unzip.

Option 3 END.

For all options above:

Clear out "recent items" from your "start" (Go to Start,"recent items", right click and delete. Keep doing it until everything is gone. Go back and check). Then open one or two of your BS photos or docs. You have to have something recent in there.

Also if you were surfing sites while on vacation clear out your history and temp internet files. Look up your own browser's method (IE: Tools / Internet Options / Browsing history / Delete / DeleteAll).

After deleting the history go to hotmail, google, Facebook and some news site. You have to have something in your browsing history.

If Immigration asks why you have not much in the way of personal files on your laptop tell them you only use it read the news and stay in touch while abroad.

Be conscious of your memory card in your camera, or memory sticks etc. If that has stuff on it you wish to remain private they will find that random card floating around in your luggage. Why go through the steps above if your camera has everything on it?

Why go through all this if, like ArtistType you only have porn or photos of old big hookers? For me I would not want to be labeled in the Gov Database as a sex tourist. Why not just be labeled as an average Joe?

EDITOR'S SUGGESTION: This is interesting, but you might consider re-posting it under the Internet Security topic in the Site Administration section of the Forum where it will benefit the Forum Members who are specifically looking for this type of information. Thanks!

Does photos of hookers = automatic association and therefore punishment? When I travel and I am arriving back to the states I regularly get hauled off to the "secondary" USA Immigration processing room due to two factors, my passport is chuck full of stamps from the DR and Colombia and there is a person with the same exact name and birthday as me that happens to be a "bad guy" as one immigration officer put it. I travel with a laptop and camera but have all my nude or otherwise questionable photos on a SD card which I keep in my pocket while going through the airport, it doesn't have enough metal in it to set off the metal detectors, if someone wants to check my laptop or camera they are welcome to it although they have never asked to look at them.

In case they make you remove everything from your pockets (does this ever happen or is that just in the movies? LOL) that would just scream "Look at me, take a look at and scrutinize whats on here" Best thing to do is to upload to a server and reformat the SD card or better yet just throw it in the garbage their $9 now for a 2G. Just delete the nudes leaving the candid ones on there along with the touristic ones. Never ever been secondaried (knock on wood) don't want to start and don't want to be put on any lists.

For me that's where the PFP comes in to play, and I dabble in that for some fun and I have to accept that's who I am, but I do enjoy eventually coming back to the girl who digs me. Nice post. Wait a minute, that was me hahaha :)

And there you have it. I'm in the same boat. Ricker as you probably know what you have in your neck of Brazil was available here 6, 8.10 years ago. Nowadays the girls here are so inundated with gringos that finding what you have is actually too much work and at times nearly impossible. A lot more accessable in brazil ...Moved this discussion over to GENERAL before the Cartagena guys got pissed.

I'm with ya Lucky, now let's keep all the tourists in Rio, and let me have the rest of Brazil hahaha. Every guy wants GFE. Just get a GF in Latin America. A real girlfriend, (not hookers U-turn into girlfriends) these girls are VERY different than girlfriends you get in your home country. And they cost less, are better looking, more feminine and much nicer to be around. We all had regular GFs in our home countries back when we were in our 20s and didn't complain, so this is no different. And as you say and I agree there is PFP on the side. Nice.

I would not worry about the rest of Brazil, airfare is too much and guys like you with your attitude experience and command or portuguese and Spanish puts you in a class most foreigners don't even know exists.

Each for different reasons. Olimpics, infaltion (Brazil) , tourist sites (LIma) , police crack downs (Sosua). General Gringo infestaton (Costa Rica ).

So what is left? It is clear, most of all the regulars from the above areas have set their sites on Colombia. No more is the fear that has kept this country a paradise for guys in the know.

Myself I have already been active in finding a new spot safe from this awesome migration.

I mean, if they knocked on your door at home and asked to come in and search your computer for no reason, no one would allow it.

So why do should they allow it at the airport?

I guess they search your luggage and we allow that, so maybe there's a case to made? When you cross the border, your rights to privacy have been suspended. This goes back way before 9/11.

Hi fellas Thanks again for the info regarding the Pharmacy at this airport. My novia was running a little late and so it was the perfect opportunity to do a little shopping there. Prices are $ 4, 000 for 4 generic V's I pay $ 20 USD each here in the states so I bought 15 boxes LOL. Lady looked at me kinda crazy LOL This was a novia trip and stayed at various hotels during my trip. Here are a few I can recommend.

Girardot- Hotel Zamba. Nice Clean and safe. No hot water, won't need it. It is hotter than shit there. City is not safe IMO. I never really felt safe there and always watched my back. Would recommend Hotel El Republicano.

Ibague- Great city nice people, lots of girls, easy for Non pro hook ups. Hotels I recommend are Hotel Acandi in the central part of the city. I think that is the main part of town. Lots of hotels on that strip all around 70k for 2 people. Clubs in that city are in the area near the Citibank. And there is a place called plaza Garibaldi Mexican mariachi place, good drinks and Tequila.

Armenia- Again lots of girls all over the place. Easy for non pro hookups. Good food easy to get a round and safe for the most part. Stay away from the streets that are not well lit. Also if you exchange at the money places make sure you do not then go into an unlit area. As thieves are waiting for you to go into places where they can find you alone. I noticed this a couple of times and just pissed me the fuck off that they saw me as a target. I wish I could just go at it 1 on 1 but being in a foreign country you have no rights like we do here. Just be careful.

Hotels- there are plenty in the centro area. But I noticed a few Americans at the Parque de Cafe. I can easily recommend that if you are there as you are finishing your day there at the park and on your way to the exit. There is a booth with a hot little Colombian there renting rooms at the Fincas. Those fincas are a really great deal. Extremely nice and comfortable free breakfast pool, exercise area bedrooms are really clean. Safe! There is one which I think is the best one it is Green and Yellow. Cost about 90k for 2 people. Best finca I can recommend. If you need more info just PM me be glad to help people out with as much info as I can.

If you think I am rash just read the MDE forum, but have a barf bag handy. No one destination is going to be an unspoiled paradise forever, people need to give up this illusion. You have to be mobile and constantly looking for the next thing, or whatever fills your niche. Things change fast and what was once paradise can turn to hell very quickly. But vice versa also happens, and paradise can sprout of out of ashes. If you want your own private paradise pretty much the only guarantee is you set up your own private island and get your women flown in.

Having said that, Colombia is a pretty big country, and there are plenty of unspoiled places left. Outside of Medellin & Cartagena (neither of which I care for at all) and Bogota (north side) , you don't really see gringos. In 6 years of going to Bogota (central-Santa Fe) , I've never met another non-Latino foreigner, although I know they come because the ladies tell me. Still a great, cheap, and humungously underrated entertainment district. I doubt it will ever go mainstream because it's kind of dangerous and Bogota isn't exactly a vacation destination with the cold and all. I've been in bars in places like Pereira & Manizales where I've asked if other gringos come, and they'll tell me,"You're the first one in 2 years". And Pereira is not even that far off the beaten path.

If you want to go where gringos are too scared to go, why don't you try Mexico? 555. Seems like over the next decade or two, Mexico is turning into Colombia of the 1980's. Of course, unless your entire shtick is about being the only foreigner in town, just because gringos don't go / go doesn't make the place good / bad. Thailand has consistently been one of the top destinations for decades, and is good as it ever was as of 2011, even though (at least the parts foreigners patronize) is only there for foreigners, and everybody knows about it. Meanwhile Kazahkstan probably doesn't get a lot of foreign sex tourists but maybe for good reason.

Hey all,

I am a newbie who has never been outside the states, so I am hoping to change that this spring. I picked Colombia because it seems like just the right mixture of exotic culture and affordable fun. It will be a short 4 day trip.

Problem is, I have read the forums and formed first impressions, but am still not sure which cities to visit. I will really appreciate your advise! I can probably only visit two cities given the short length of time I am there.

My first priority is of course safety: I don't see myself ever stepping in Bogota South Side based on what I have read on this forum.

I don't consider myself a monger (yet) , but my second priority is to procure one or two super-hot nookies during the trip.

Thank you!

PS: One company offered me a bilingual girl to stay with me and show me around for 3 days for $1, 500. She looks really hot in all of her pictures. Is it a fair price?

Just go to Zona T in Bogota (or parque lleras in Medellin) , full of very hot women. Find the hottest one and tell her you will pay her $500 a day to be your guide. Please report back on your findings, or take photos at least.

Make sure she is alone so you don't start a cat fight right there, unless that's your objective. Ok ok folks I get it, the amount is too high for Colombia! It was ignorance on my part about foreign currencies, unfortunately I wasn't joking. I just did simple math that $1500 for 72 hours = 21 bucks an hour.

Guess I can do better in Colombia! What is a reasonable amount to pay for three days, any ideas? Keep in mind, the girl is a 10.

Even if they are prepagos, they are also students or work some jobs, or have kids to take care of, so a girl is not likely to be able to drop everything to just spend 3 days with some guy she doesn't know no matter what the damage. That is why you would have to pay a premium if it is even possible to do this 3 day thing, but in this case it seems to me such a girl willing and able to do this could very likely turn out to be a hard-core puta or cold fish and then you are stuck with her.

I am not a shill for the place but it sounds to me like Casa Blanca 2 in Medellin and Boyd could be your best bet as a place to stay where you could get oriented and have a fun 4 days as a newb. And simply and easily access some memorable hot GFE on demand with some very pretty and sweet girls who can speak at least some basic English.

I cannot recall a single time when a girl's photo from a website / email would exactly correspond to what the girl is like in reality. In the best case she would be close, but not as good as on the picture and in the worst it would be a different girl.

This was everywhere South / North America, Europe. Even in Czech republic where upscale escorts tend not to scam, the picture on their website was still better than in reality = thought still beautiful, the girl looked taller and slimmer on her pic.

You only have time for one city. Go to CTG as it is the safest in Colombia.

Instead of one girl for three days, Take a different girl each day. You will find plenty in LDV and Electra cheaper than $500 a day.

Pick one city, you'll enjoy your time much more.

If ya like the beach atmosphere, obviously Cartagena is your place, and like JG said, LDV and Electra are your places.

You'll have fun.

In Medellin, if you stay at the Casa Blanca, you can get your hand held and meet plenty of chicas too.

Paying $1500 to one chica for 3 days, site unseen, NO WAY Kay!

Good luck to ya.

There's also Frank Casio and his apt. W / rooms to rent in the Mayorista area of Medellin. He has access to a "large" chica-network, from what I understand.

Again, it's no Cartagena- which is a UNESCO world heritage site and a joy in and of itself.

But, as to your price-range: no Colombiana would even expect 500k COP per day!

You'd be WAY overpaying!

Which is about 1. 5 times average monthly salary over there.

You'd be WAY overpaying! Yes, but he is looking for a 10. There may or may not be a 10 to be found poolside at CB1 depending on the definition of a 10, but much more likely to find a true looker there compared to a Mayorista chica network.

But those girls don't just see any client off the street. You have to have references. Most of them are in the entertainment / modelling business. So they keep a low profile, as a foreigner it's next to impossible to contract them.

As a gringo you're getting the second tier and down, so if they are charging you that kind of money you're severely overpaying... if the girl is really really fine 300-400k a night is worth it.

If you really got a top tier girl you would know it... you would have a major epiphany and you'd be a changed person... you and your dick would never be the same again....

The hottest girl I think I've been with, as far as looks go anyway, was in a privado (a casa) frequented by affluent businessmen in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

She had the latina / german mix in looks, stunning, was brand new and had no idea really how beautiful she was, and had never met a foreigner before.

Great experience that I will always remember.

I returned just a few days later and she was gone, the madam there telling me that some wealthy Argentine guy was most likely 'sponsering' her now.

That was my 'epiphany' and though I would have paid much more, it only ran about $100 or so, and that was because I kept extending the time.

Jejejeje, when you find a real gem like that bro, unless you marry her right there and then you know your on borrowed time before she gets scooped up and sponsored LOL. Its best to enjoy it and extend your time right there, get her schedule and most important get her cellphone for after hour rendezvous if possible because you'll never know if she'll be there even the following day.

The "hottest" one I ever banged in Colombia was a well known internet model who's website is still online but does not update anymore. I met her through my contact in that city who told me that he had something new and really special. Well holy shit was she special and to my surprise not that expensive because she was brand new to the game and had no real negotiating skills yet. After moderately sponsoring her for a few days which included taking her out clubbing, small gifts which I always bring and dinners (you better bet your ass I wanted everybody in town to notice me LOL) She wanted to hang out with me for no obligation for she told me I treated her so well and we had such a great time together (2 extra days).

Sometimes treating these ho's can really go such a long way since their used to being mind manipulated their whole lives by their Colombian novios. I lost contact with her as to what she's doing right no? Has to be married or serious novio. Maybe even squeezed out a few puppies by now. It would be inevitable.

Last March in BAQ I had a girl just like that. New to the game and she had no clue to how good she was. (I did a post about her) at the time I was in BAQ visiting my Novia and I completly left my novia to be with her. As I was leaving to go to MDE she almost begged me to take her with me. The fool that I was I refused with the thought of why take sand to the beach? Very stupid thinking as this girl was fine gold not course sand. So a lesson learned. If you find a new gem then take full advantage of your limited time with her.

Two years ago, I was a newbie who attached a few days to my trip to Peru, because of reading the info from this site. My Spanish is barely passing, but from all the excellent information from this site and the addresses from WT69's list, I had amazing time (New Life, Energy, Mayorista, San Diego and Fase II). Did the trip on my own without staying at the Mansion (pre-CB) , but like the idea of staying there. My point is that the information is so good here that a newbie to mongering let alone Medellin with limited Spanish speaking skills could get around and have a great time. Now, I am a dedicated member to this common interest of ours and have been back to Colombia six more times. Thanks.

Does anyone have any info on shipping from SF area to Bog area in Colombia. Best Prices or company to go with?Believe it or not I have had success with the plain old post office. I occasionally mail myself stuff when in the US. However lately there is a duty they slap on, so you have to go to the mail place, stand on line, fill out forms get 6 photocopies of your neighbors left-handed smoke shifter, finger prints and whatnnot. It is a one hour ordeal and costs money.

I am joking about the neighbor's left handed smoke shifter but not the rest.

But don't thnk the package is going to arrive without a hitch, FedEx or otherwise.

Fedex will call their house beforehand and let them know it is coming tomorrow and how much money to have ready.

So if you are sending something to a family that has no money this could be an issue.

You should find it in the dictionary. It means "prepaid". However in the context of this board it simply means a women who charges for sex. If you navigate through web sites of latin american escort agencies, you will often find that the girls are offered as "prepago". Certainly prepago sounds much nicer than prostitute.

I don't know what the F I would do considering the miles I have racked up! Most likely they will give you a year to use your miles. Another way to use them is to merge them with something like points. Com so you move it to a different airline. I have been hearing that airlines are in some cases doubling the amount of reward points you need to redeem though!

Exactly what Hioctane said about small companies to do the shipping, most are in yellow pages. I can add two more things. I use one here in Jersey City. They charge 5. 00 for each box (towards insurance) and 1. 50 a pound. Now the lady told me there's a new law that just started everything being sent to Colombia, needs to have a paper in the box with a list of contents. Or she needed a list of the boxes contents not really sure. Anyway they get picked up like twice a week she told me it would take a week to reach Medellin, but in reality it got delivered to Castropol in 13 days, still I'll take it at that price.

Lots of gnd and semi or non pros and pros as well. So if you are thinking of going there I would recommend this city. Probably by bus about 3 hours to get there. Recommend you go from airport to terminal via taxi go to bus station advertising Melgar. Probably about $20 USD to get there on the higher end buses. Get off the stop at Melgar and start looking for rooms or hotels. There are so many all over the palce. Make sure your place has a pool or are near one that you can use for a small fee. Will not regret this. Pm me for any info. Glad to help out in any way possible.

I have flown on Aires many times and I have always had good experience. The prices are very reasonable and they fly on time. I have mostly taken their small computer planes made by Bombardier.

LAN Airlines has acquired Aires.

I have also flown on easyfly. Com. Co and I have had the same good experiences. Usually Easyfly seems to be a little cheaper. I recommend bothI have flown on 3 Aires flights and the experience has been good; decent prices, clean and modern aircraft and on-time arrivals. Just wish they would re-establish their daily non-stops from FLL to Cartagena. When they operate that daily flight. Avianca trys to match the fare from Miami.

Hey guys, I joined couple of dating sites and I am getting many messages with word "Chaeter". Something that translates in Google as "Drink Wine". Their pictures look kinda like Semi-pros, more revealing than regular girls.

So sorry about the stupid question, but are all these girls really inviting me to drink wine, or is that a euphemism for semi-pros?

I have heard and read this many times when people talk about going to strip clubs or Casas in unsafe areas. I am in the camp that thinks this is unnecessary. Every strip club I have ever visited always has cabs waiting outside. As far as the casas are concerned you can have the madam call a cab for you, but to me that is not even called for as for the most part casas are open in the daytime so I always walk to the corner and hail a taxi. Now if you are talking about hiring a guide with a taxi, then that is a different story. You can let him wait all day for you outside and that makes sense. Also if you are with a group of guys then that cuts down on each persons share to pay your waiting driver, but then with a group with you I think your security is much enhanced, and again not needed.

Talk about trying to blend in. How many natives have cabs waiting for them?

Of course I am talking from my viewpoint, which I have seen first hand how many of these so called dangerous areas have lead me to have the best experences. Surely my advise is not for the faint of heart or those with money to burn, as most of the time you invite the driver in for a beer or two thus adding to your expenses for the outing.

There are plenty of tips for being safe in Country that have been posted many times that I feel are very worthwhile. Having a driver wait for you to me is a unnecessary expense.

The waitress knew immediately when he handed her some of that money.

I somewhat enjoyed the Santa Fe area. I never went into the strip clubs. Instead, I'd frequent the many casas. It was an adventure walking down the different streets checking out the girls in the doorways. There were many gorditas wearing too much make-up, but sometimes there was a gem.

I normally went to Santa Fe around 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM, but I preferred to go there during the daylight hours. Sometimes I'd hang around near the Calle 22 TransMilenio station and watch the chicas arrive. If I saw someone that I'd like, I'd follow her to her casa.

It's a mis / spelling of chatear, they want to chat. Not a real spanish word of course, so translators don't handle it. Sometimes they'll say charlar too. No idea where translators get drinking wine from that, somebody must be able to make $ developing an even remotely correct translator.Hi Palermo. The translator usually has options to choose from when plugging in a translation.

Chatear = beber chatos. In Spain Chato is short for "Chato de Vino"= glass of wine. Chatear is to have a few glasses of wine. The translator is either set for European Spanish or auto chose European Spanish because Colombian Spanish on autodetect usually triggers the European version.

DO NOT give taxi drivers anything greater than a 20k. Most do not have change. I really don't know why if they have been working all day. If they look around and then pull some from under their seat. Be careful. It might be fake! The cab drivers covet their change and are loath to part with it. Sometimes they really do not have it

What to do? Carry exact change. Do whatever you can to get smaller bills and coins. Hoard them like gold. Always pay with big bills at the larger stores. Even if you are loaded with smaller bills in your home and / or wallet always do whatever you can to get more and more. The employess at the registers are TRAINED to do whatever it takes to get exact change from the customers. Like at the middle end places like El Corral, Burger King, Office Depot, Juan valdez. THEY HAVE it but it is a game here. They will ask if you have 2mil or 500 pesos. Tell them "No tengo mas sencillo" ("I don't have anything smaller"). Then they open the register and it is LOADED with mountains of change. Who's kidding who?

The taxistas usually have it as well but since they have a rich foreigner (YOU) in their cab suddenly they have no change. It is all to get you to round up. I am too old to play the game with them so I never leave the house without 20K in small bills (1k and 2k) and 3mil in coins.

If I am in a situation where I only have 20s or a 50 when the cab pulls over I tell them "solo tengo un billete de 20/50 mil. Tiene usted cambio? Voy a Poblado" (I only have a 20/50 on me do you have change? I am going to Poblado). I tell them where I am going. Before getting in. So that they can figure what the approx fare will be and do the math. Most of the time they are sitting on change stashed on them or the vehicle. They would rather not lose the 10K fare so they say no problem.

Bottom line avoid the hassel and carry the little stuff and be done with it.

Oh and this has nothing to do with the money or overpaying 300 pesos but all to do with principal. Colombians hate overpaying. And don't. So when in Colombia

Lastly the drivers don't stop the meter when the cab stops to let you out and as you sit there fiddling with getting your money while strapped in the tin can cab the meter ticks up and up. I usually am grabbing the change from my front pocket as we are pulling over, eye the amt (eg: 7250) and hand the guy 300 in coins and then go for the wallet for the 7mil. If I feel like tipping because he was a pleasant driver the choice is mine. I am in control of this. If not you will get walked on here by anyone and everyone. Colombians do not tip. Some cabbies may even take offense if you tip them.

Another trick is to drive you further up than where you said "por aca esta bien". As they roll further up that meter ticks again. For us it only a little but for them it adds up. Again it is the principal. When you tell them "Here is fine" simultaneously unbuckle your seat belt (you are sitting up front and wearing your seat belt, right?) while digging for a handful of chage in your front pocket. This lets them know without a doubt to stop the fucking cab now.

Another trick is as they see you waving them down they start the meter before you even get in, as they are rolling towards you. Some ballsy ones while stopped at the light and you are waiting for them to cross over to get you have already started the meter. As you sit down and as they are pulling away the first tick up already happens. How is that possible? Well now you know. Wave them down last miunte instead of when they are all the way still up the hill or at the light.

Again. This all adds up for them. I don't care about the 15 cents. It's the principal and they are the ones that are dragging you into the game. You are forced to play.

7407 was the fare as the taxista did the roll up. 7 peos at today's exchange rate is equal to one third of a penny. The cab driver said,"7500". Why did he announce the price? They never do that it is right there on the meter. He announced the price to lock in the round up, knowing that all cabbies with Colombian passengers are going to receive 7400. It's the game. Not the third of a penny that ended up being 100 pesos or 5 cents. It's not the nickel and dime game that pisses me off. Its that fact that it is played and it's insulting.

They are very laid back. But if you go there on a racial tip, you might feel ignored. The key in Colombia is low key. It was very refreshing to be in an all white city and nobody points, stares, or laughs. There are beautiful women everywhere, just show respect.

Don't wear gold or clothes that draw attention. Don't be talking loud letting everyone know your American or from Ny, La, etc. Handle your liquor, and don't argue. There are some rather dark skinned Colombians so you will not necessarily "stand out", but I have read some articles that pretty much said that the darker skinned Colombians have a bit of a hurdle. This phenomenon of Lighter Skin vs Darker Skin is a class issue. You should be ok. Long story short, be cool, be nice, be fair and you'll be fine. How is your spanish? This is HUGE with Non Pros and unless you are VERY handsome with out even basic Spanish skills you'll be fighting an uphill battle.

Also I would NOT recommend Loutrons (WAY over priced. WAY! Just read around) , Abydos has the same owners and a fantastic line up at about 1/2 the price. I like the other places Brother P recommend too, San Diego was good to me! Also see what's up with Linda's Chicas. This was a gold mine for me!

On December 2, 2008, the Banco de la República de Colombia announced that it would issue a 100, 000-peso note in mid-2009 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birthday of 30th president of the republic, Carlos Lleras Restrepo, who held office 1966-1970. HELP, but remember, only good energy to everyone. If you decide to visit Brazil, of course Rio is a must to see and enjoy, however, Brazil is much more than just Rio.

I spent about a decade visiting and exploring Colombia, and I still visit Medellin here and there.

Lately though, I've been calling Brazil my second home.

At first, especially if you've become proficient at speaking spanish, the portuguese will frustrate you.

Once you've become accustomed to comunicating well, it's difficult to go back to when you couldn't.

The spanish will only get you so far, and not very far at that, however, with the spanish background, learning portuguese is much easier than starting from scratch.

You'll run into the same game playing and little lies, drama, etc, as in Colombia, when playing with chicas (they call them garotas in Brasil) in the touristy areas like Rio, however, get away from those areas, where you'll refreshingly run into a very small amount of gringos, and it's wonderful.

Have fun!

This opinion written with nothing but 'good energy' :)

A good old friend the other day was giving me hell about my choice of Putas over Non Pros. Below is my response to him.

To me a good PUTA is a joy to the world. A more honest women you can not find. Give me a good Puta over a lying Non Pro any day.

Of course a guy like you who speaks excellent Spanish and is young and.

Muy guapo and can give a beautiful young and rich Chica from Poblado multible orgasmos, and even have her buy you Old Parr by the bottle, then of course you look down on a old poor guy on a small pension who has to go to places like Mayorista and hope one of those Chicas take pity on him and release a little pussy for him. Of course he would not expect a BBBJ or any type of GFE. He would be happy just to sniff her panties and then give her a 10 K propina.

Some day you may grow old and decrepit and then you will realize how lucky you are now.

Ah my Amigo, you have much to learn. I guess I am stuck with the humble duty to be your teacher in matters of the heart.

Jajajajaja I hope I die before I get to be like you, an old wrinkled up perverted man from the east coast, who has no communication skills other than being able to communicate behind a computer on a sex forum, and who is so fricking cheap, that you are still wearing clothes from the early 70's! Right old man? Don't be jealous because I have been able to maintain my youth, still party in the same manner that I did when I was 21, have great communication skills, and charm, that allows me to go the non-pro way.

I am sorry, but I just do not get into fucking a girl who probably had who knows how many clients that particular day, or for the week. That is for old men like yourself, who can only get yourself off by paying for it, and for guys who have no communication skills, looks, or charm. I still like the puta scene from time to time, but only for a change of pace. As far as sniffing panties, you just continue to enjoy your fetish with your buddies Artistyy and Nibu.

You think you would have learned some valuable lessons on women and mongering from your good friend Urbanwildlife. You know he is, and always will be, the master of conversation when it comes to the girls. You should give him a call again some time, as I am sure he would be very willing to again give you a lesson. If you cannot reach him, you can always give Black Hawk69 a call. LOL.

By the way, at the end of the month when I am making my Cartagena / El Rodadero / St. Maartens tour, I expect you to bring me that bottle of Old Parr, and a couple bottles of Crown Royal from the airport duty free. Good luck at the race track today, but fuck the turf races, go with the dirt. Hopefully my horse Old Parr will be running today. For those that do not know, Johnny and I both like horse racing, and at the track he goes to, there is actually a horse named "Old Parr" who is quite good. The first time I told you about this horse I think He paid $15, and then he ran right back and paid I think over $50.

If you would have listened to me then and bet him you would not now have to beg for me to bring you bottles of whiskey. I know you need a lot of boose as those Non Pro's you hang with drink the stuff like a man in the desert who has not had water in three days.

As far as your comment on my clothes I must say a lot of the Mayorista honeys ask me for articles of my wardrobe.

I think they want to give them to their Colombian Novios.

I'm sure they know better than you who is in style and who is not.

Fat chance you will reach my age to monger at the rate you are going. Do you remember how those two young guys last March in Electra could not hang with us as it got in the wee hours? That my friend is how I operate, non stop.

PROS. NO PROS? Really? We still debate that issue?

My GOD! I thought everyone now realizes that it's all a PRO game. Free pussy is the biggest deception of all, it's a gamble on the part of the working girl in hope of future security. P4P up front is honest to goodness straight up like it is pussy. A more fairly negotiated exchange of favors.

I am 48. I get all the "FREE" pussy I can stand in Medellin. Seriously, but it NEVER fails, if I want to continue to get that same "FREE" pussy, they will ask me for AYUDA. Eventually, the "FREE" pussy costs more, in time, money, and hassle which brings me to my point.

Give them some money. Tell them to go away. Find a new working girl. Give her some money. Tell her to go away. Repeat.

Some of you feed your egos on this "Free pussy, I'm still cool and good looking with great staying power". For every one of you, there are 1000's of others just like you a phone call away for these girls. Get over yourself.

You are amazing. Keep believing that. Then one day all your bullshit will fall right on top of you like all the other punks like you before. There's always more to those stories about how some girl pays for it all but I GUARANTEE with your ego we'll never know the rest of the story. You'll just walk away with your tail tucked between your legs and sit in the corner sucking your thumb.

Only my experience, but the 'non-pro' I have been with off and on for 3 years has costed me WAY more than any pro. I do like her and all, and do not begrudge the money I have given her, but on this next trip, she can't see me, as she is learning a new job in Bogota and has no time, this trip, focussing on only pros, the pussy will cost about 1/2 normal. I fully agree with Mr. Bob, it is much simpler to pay for it, no extraneous issues either (like them lying about how you are the only one!)

It has been mystery to me for a long time. I need to go to bed around 1am everyday no matter what. How could these guys in the 50s and 60s drink untill 6 in the morning? What time do they get up? 1pm?

Do you remember how those two young guys last March in Electra could not hang with us as it got in the wee hours? That my friend is how I operate, non stop.
