No one I know from Colombia has ever brought up the topic of racism, thought I'm sure to some extent it exist in virtually every country around the world.Short answer is I just asked one of my chicks in Santa Marta and she said, "I have not seen it. You know Colombia. How have you felt here?

I have known her over 10 years (longer but actually do not know how many exactly). Only 2 months ago I realized she is Black. It was her mom's birthday and she sent me pictures of her mom and dad at the party. I had seen pictures of her mom before but never her dad. He is a Black guy.

(Side note: I know many people on this board are caught up on age. Her mom is older than her dad. Her mom turned 73 and her dad is 71. Back in January I had an Uber tour guide in the Boyacá area who was 65 and his wife was in her 80's. He was 30 when they got married.).

Then last month there was some kind of Africa day or week or whatever. She is an elementary school teacher and she sent me some pictures of her and some the female students who were obviously of African heritage dressed up in African garb. Then she sent me a picture of her in her house in front of a print or painting of a lady of African heritage wearing African garb. We had never talked about anything like this before. I guess we don't really care about that kind of stuff.

As you said, nobody brings up racism and I have been going to Colombia for 19 years. The only time I have heard the word out of someone's mouth is my ex-girlfriend who is from Cartagena, but lives in Bogota. She once described herself to me as being White as snow. Her second child is with a Black guy. She said she does not like her dad because he is racist. Well she loves her dad, but she does not like that he is racist.

I am in Peru now with my girl from Venezuela. Last night we came in from watching Planet of the Apes and I asked her to tell me about racism in her country. She started off by saying the Haitians bla, bla. I cut her off and said no. Tell me about racism between Venezuelans. Then she started talking about different states not liking each other. Then I said no not that either. Then she started with gays bla. I said nooo. Tell me about racism having to do with people's color. She said oh we don't have any of that shit. People are all mixed up and people's family and friends are all mixed up, so what would be the point? How would you decide who to be racist against?

I said yes but Brazil is the same way, yet they have racism. She thinks that is more of a regional thing though. As I have said before, the racism is Brazil is mostly institutionalized like when it comes to getting a job and shit, but it doesn't really exist on a social level.

My girl started her period last night right before we got to the movies. When we got back to the apartment I told her to open her mouth to have a look. But most guys from the US and other English-speaking countries are simply looking for an attractive girl for sex and do not care about reproducing children of one race or another, nor about living with or marrying the women they have sex with, it's only a short sex vacation.

Been in the Dominican Republic since 1995 when I worked there, and they are the most racist, everyone wants to have lighter skinned children. Probably from Haiti being on their border.

I do not think this has anything to do with American blacks who travel and are spending money but with the locals. So yeah, it seems racism is there. It is just hidden and sounds like it is more among the old than the young, but it is there.

These countries that arent as developed have way bigger problems to worry about than skin color. They are more Nationalist first, then region, the Strata. My girl in Colombia is from the coast but looks white, her mom is black like my completion, when we go to Medellin and she's not next to me she's treated normal until she speaks and they hear her dialect, all of a sudden she's treated differently because she's Castano, and not a Paisa, but I'm treated well because they see me as American, not Black American, or African American, just American. Then when I come next to her and the realize were together, they treat her accordingly with respect because she's with an American. It gets even funnier when I speak with my original accent, and they think I'm from Jamaica but when I pronounce certain words in English they think I'm from Inglaterra. JAJAJA.

Some people minds don't adapt to certain things well when they grow up in an environment that conditioned them to be and think a certain way as they believe the whole world thinks and is the same way they were taught.

I'm guessing many people who go to Cartagena don't know what Cartegena was back in the 1800's and never bothered to do a cultural day tour because all they focused on is a Clock tower, 3 clubs, and a beach.

Arguing with girls not wanting to pay them, police coming to the property, breaking things, playing loud music past 10 PM, etc. Everything in the San Diego area is done for new comers (area by La Serrezuela shopping mall). Now the rules changed for new comers, not for me though.

Unfortunately you will have to do the leg work. Contact the hosts and ask questions to find out if it's guest friendly.

Get a hotel that charges a fee per guest.

Use short stay hotels.

As al alternative, if the location only have security at night, then do your chica activities in the day time when they are not there.

Thanks for any insights.Ethnic Thematic was great for me, basically an Airbnb in practice even though it's dormitory style in how close you are to other rooms. But it's self check in, and the room quality was fair for price. I was paying $40 ish a night, and brought back 4 girls a day with zero issue. No security desk, but there is a service desk that you don't even pass if you have an entry way room. Plus it's keyboard access with cameras.

Got here yesterday. 15,000 Indriver from the airport to Oz Luxury in Laguito where I am staying. My girl that lives here brought her daughter and we went to the beach. You can not walk 5 feet around this place without somebody trying to sell you something or wanting money from you. The kid wanted to go to McDonald's so we took her there. While we were ordering on the computer some lady comes up to me and said I am hungry too. Can you buy me something. I said bich please. Well I did not really say that. I just shook my head no.

My twin cousins are celebrating their birthday. There are 7 of us in the group. I do not miss traveling with a bunch of people. I am used to doing what I want when I want. It takes 5 minutes for us to just cross the street because people's attention is focused on different things. Two guys are getting numbers from hookers, while one guy is trying to buy a beer, another guy is at a food cart, somebody else is looking at souvenirs, and someone else is listening to a tout trying to rip them off.

We were at the clock tower last night and a lady named Shirley was actually giving the real price of the all day island boat tour with lunch included. She said 140,000. I said wow that is too much. Then she knocked it down and said okay 120,000 each person. Meanwhile another 2 people in our group was talking to a tout that was trying to rent us a boat for 2,800,000 pesos. I said man are you out of your mind. He said it is only $700 and you can do what you want on it. He said what do you want it for $20 each? I said yes. He called us cheap and one person in the group said he heard him call us the and word. I said I have no idea. I really stopped listening when I heard $700. Hell, I was in the Navy. I am not impressed by boats.

They were interested in drinking so we stopped in at a restaurant / bar called Texas. Walking there, every 5 feet someone was stopping trying to get the contact of a hooker. They wanted to keep drinking but I told them we needed to leave and hit some spots.

The Indriver on the way to the clock tower gave us a list: Tentaciones, Chicas Lindas, Travesuras, Paraiso del Marino. I cross-check it with the Cartagena Lists thread and also google searched. Indriver guy asked us if we had exact change. The price from Laguito to clock tower was 14,000 pesos. I said man how are you going to be driving and not have change. He said that he just started. He only had 10,000 pesos. He is an engineer and just got off work from his day job.

First place I chose was La Sucursal. We called 2 more Indrivers to go there from the clock tower. 12,000 pesos and 10 minutes away. While waiting for Indriver somebody decided they needed to buy a Corona from one of the vendors. I do not know what the communication was but they understood it would be 5,000 pesos. After the guy handed him the beer he wanted 20,000 pesos. So maybe the guy was saying $5? My cousin told him to just give the beer back. Well the vendor had already opened it. He raised bloody hell. He was cursing us out in Spanish and finally just poured the beer out when he realized it was not going to get paid for.

This morning a minority lady asked me for some food inside the store and I told her to ask the store manager, manager said he was not in charge of the store.

So we arrived at La Sucursal, except it was not La Sucursal. The driver claimed it was though. But it said Pley Club. I could see neon lights up in the distance to where the address I actually put in Indriver led to. And we had 2 Indrivers so one group of guys had already arrived. I told my cousins let's walk up to the other place. Yes. That place was La Surcusal. But we did not see the other guys there, so my cousins went back to Pley Club to check while I did the recon in La Surcusal.

There were about 10 girls. I took a look at the menu and asked one girl how much she wanted. She said 300,000. That is when I decided to leave and see what the guys were doing in Pley Club.

On my way down the street, they were coming back to get me. So they did a you turn and we went back in where the other fellas were and pulled up another table. I asked one chick how much she wanted and she said 450,000 for 30 minutes. These chicks were better than La Sucursal and the ambiance was better as well. I ordered a Gatorade which set me back $20,000 as can be seen in the Pley Club menu attached. What the fuck. The other guys still had the Indriver guy with them. We were there at least 2 hours.

Once during that time all the girls came over and introduced themselves to each of us individually, then they went back to sitting down looking bored. 1 chick also did a strip show during that time. She was dancing on all of us and when she finished, one of the guys gave her $20. I said man don't do that shit! That is why the place is fucked up now. I explained to them about how in some places when the girl finishes the show she comes around and people give her 2,000 pesos. It is all a learning experience for guys that don't know though.

I was ready to go check another place out but finally one guy decided to take a chick. After he took her, then some of the other chicks came over sitting on each of our laps socializing. A couple of the guys bought them drinks (appeared to be something like Smirnoff Ice) at 60,000 pesos.

One of my cousins swear his chick told him 200,000 and she is his all night. I said man I think you are hearing things. All of them were using that Google Translate. Another of my cousins speaks a bit of Spanish. Besides him and me, it was all GT for the rest of the guys.

I think my cousin that thought the girl said 200,000 went to the bathroom and I pulled his girl over on me asking how much she wanted. She told me 450,000 for 30 minutes or all night for 1,250,000. So when my cousin came back I told him maybe the chick is saying you have to pay the place 200,000 for her to leave with you and still did not tell you how much you have to give her. But he swears that was not the case.

Other prices guys got from girls was 250,000 and 350,000. All the time we were there there were no other guys. I told my crew that if you walk into a place and look around and there are no Colombians then you are about to get fucked and not in a good way. And especially since all the while we were there it was alllll American hip hop played. There were 25 girls in all and I don't see how they can be making a living if the place is empty.

The guy that took the chick was taking so long that we thought he must have fell asleep in the room. I did not find out until later, but another one of the guys even paid 450,000 peso for the Indriver guy to get laid. Said it was his first time getting some pussy in 8 months.

I told the Indriver guy let's head to a place geared towards Colombians. The other guy finally came out of the room and we went outside. The Indriver guy was calling another one of his taxi friends to come take us. The first Indriver guy was actually a yellow taxi by the way. With time, I would have learned the trains, subways, and busses, and they probably would have been even cheaper.

And while they are $15 nonalcoholic cocktails, on a trip to the local European version of Walmart, Carrefour, I spotted bottles of wine for $1. 50. Maybe you can find that in Walmart but I have not seen it. The midlevel hotels, the Holiday Inn and Hampton Inns, were double that of Cartagena but I found Airbnbs in nice locales that could be had for what a midlevel hotel in Cartagena costs of similar quality.

In summary, that whole concept of Europe being expensive vanished. It can be affordable if you know what you are doing and plan correctly. You can do a trip and have the same costs in Europe as Colombia. I did not see any difference with the price of restaurant meals. And the hooker prices now are in the same league and you can find plenty of Latinas in Europe.

Then there is the travel. If you fly NYC to Bogota, that is a five hour flight. I flew from NYC to the Azores in Portugal on Azores airlines. That is a five hour flight too. From the Azores, you can get to most places in Europe in 3 hours. Yes, the flight time is less than if you go to to Cartagena through Florida but when I go to Cartagena and come back, it is in the 7 to 10 hour range which is the same as getting to much of Europe with Azores. I looked for the cheapest one way fares on Azores to Europe and found one for $297. That is only $100 more than the cheapest fares I ever have found to Colombia.

So now I was like what is really worse about Europe, and once I saw how Europe could be done, the only true negative is the jet lag.

But then there are the positives. The roads are great. The food is better and healthier. The places are cleaner and safer. You can go to the beaches and not get harassed. While Spain, Portugal, and Italy are not the economic stars in Europe, the infrastructure is light years ahead of Colombia. And you do not have to deal with the sex trafficking sneering.

Yes, Colombia is an upgrade over the USA in terms of the women, but for me, that was always more Medellin than anywhere else. It has been rare for me to see a bevy of beauties in Cartagena, and Bogota has hot women but the weather and the clothes needed to be worn distract from seeing the potential beauty. Still, Colombia has the USA beat but think about that difference in looks. So the 55,000 kind of works if you only buy 1 drink (Not really though because the drink would still be overpiced because its price is supposed to be 15,000, so they are still charging you 20,000 extra). But if you buy 2 drinks you have in essence paid for the chairs and umbrella twice. Of course tourists are none the wiser to these things. There was also a 16% service charge added to the bill.

The other guys finally arrived. My cousin told me his thing was getting a manicure and pedicure at the beach. It was 50,000. I said come on man. You are letting a strange chick poke and prod you on a dirty beach with tools that have touched you do not know who or what. Meanwhile I pay 25,000 in a clean ass salon. He could not resist though. First off, I think you will agree that is not in Cartagena anymore. The deals at the clock tower are gone. And I agree that the SW and Casa prices in Bogota and Medellin are cheaper than Europe, there is the cost of the sex tourist accusation, the drugging's, the muggings, and the killings. If any of those things happen, that cheap pussy is not cheap.Good point, if we are comparing touristy / vacation destinations with beaches, infrastructure etc the Med or Bogota don't qualify.

LOL. Pretty much. Unless you go on a day trip to Baru in Cartagena or San Andres Island. Otherwise, the beaches of Colombia are no paradise.Actually Baru (Playa Blanca) and San Andres were my best experiences. Other beaches were also descent but not as bad as Barranquilla or Cartagena. Tierra Bomba Island at Punta Arena has a better looking beach than Hollywood Beach in Cartagena and you can see the Cartagena skyline from Tierra Bomba Island. I've been to Rodadero Beach before and that beach is better than in Santa Marta. Keep in mind that Colombia is the only country in South America that has 2 coast. Keep in mind that Colombia is the only country in South America that has 2 coast. One coast in the Caribbean Sea and the other coast on the Pacific Ocean. We ordered drinks. I ordered a pina colada in a glass and one of my cousins ordered a caipirinha. My other cousin wanted his pina colada in the pineapple but I talked him out of that. I told him they were going to hit him over the head for that pineapple and it was going to hold less than the cup. (In Ecuador once my girl wanted hers in the pineapple. I told her what I just told you but she did not believe it. I had the bartender pour the shit from my glass into the pineapple and when it filled up there was still some left in my glass that would not fit.) So you can pay extra to be cute and have less drink or you can pay the normal price and have the correct amount of drink.

When he brought the drinks I told him to bring the bill. He insisted that he would just bring a final bill when it was time to go. I said I was not falling for that and would pay as we go. It took me a out 10 times asking for it for him to finally bring it. Then once we paid, it took us about 10 times asking for him to bring the change.

For those that do not know, the prices on the beach are a tourist ripoff and the government actually regulates the prices. The only way it kind of works out is if you only buy 1 drink. The price for 2 chairs and an umbrella is 20,000 per the government. What the kiosk is doing is telling you that the chairs and umbrellas are free, but including it into the price of other things. So the 55,000 kind of works if you only buy 1 drink (Not really though because the drink would still be overpiced because its price is supposed to be 15,000, so they are still charging you 20,000 extra). But if you buy 2 drinks you have in essence paid for the chairs and umbrella twice. Of course tourists are none the wiser to these things. There was also a 16% service charge added to the bill.

I told the happy ending lady why'all think we are some damn fools huh? Then I showed her the prices from the government with the number you are supposed to call if someone tries to cheat you. She said you know too damn much. We started laughing. She gave me her menu so I could take pictures of it. You can see that her complete massage is 300,000, while the government says it can be no more than 50,000. You can also see that the govermnent says braids are 30,000 while her menu says 90,000. This is exactly why after my first time to Cartagena years ago I said fuck that ripoff ass place and only returned during the day driving from Barranquilla to go to Baru.

P.S. I am with a girl in Barranquilla and she told me a story of someone eating fish on the beach in Cartagena. In true fashion they said not to worry about the price and in the end tried to charge them 2,000,000 pesos. They had to call the police to straighten it out.I remembered my first time there when I saw the receipt pic. But I'm assuming you guys didn't end up paying the receipt amount, right? Unless the chair / umbrella fee is per person, I count umbrella / chair fee + three 15000 COP cocktails. Apparently, a Japanese couple bought a tuna earlier and ate the whole damned thing raw right on the pier because they could not believe the could get fresh tuna so cheap.

It is a place to chill versus party for sure. When we went looking to a gym to work out, there was like only one, and it was horrible.

Hollywood Beach is basically a trade show for women to make contact with potential customers. To me it qualifies as one of the greatest shows on earth. All the ladies were there in bikinis and there were tons of them. What I recommend is to sit facing the kiosk and not the beach. I had to turn around so many times because the chicks were walking behind me. I told my cousin that it would be smarter to sit on the other side of the table and that is what he changed to do.

No idea why people here mention talking to Tony about getting chicks. Tony is just a waiter as far as I could tell. The chicks are there walking around back and forth and all you have to do is call one over.

There is no need for you to sit and drink or eat with chicks. My group just called the chicks over and added them to whatsapp for later. I called them over and asked how much. They would always say 100. I would respond 100 pesos? They would say $100. After that I say we are in Colombia; who the hell has dollars? Then they would say 400,000 pesos. When I did it with one chick her $100 turned to 200,000 pesos. These chicks were quoting these prices for 1 hour. One chick asked $120 but when asked about pesos she said 400,000. My boys would do everything on whatsapp and google translate. One of the chicks told them 300,000.

There was so much shit going on at Hollywood that it seems the massage ladies are there because you get so tense from beating off all the touts. There was even a guy getting a haircut on the beach!

One dumb ass chick walked by screaming respect me. I am not a prepago. I am a Dominican lawyer on vacation. I told one of those waiters to flag her down because I was busy on my phone. When she came up I was still busy and did not even look up so she eventually walked away.

I was about to order another drink when my cousin stopped me. He said they were about to close. The police were coming around telling everyone to leave. They do this at all public Colombian beaches at 6 pm. I have been to private beaches where this does not happen.

We got up and started to walk up toward the street. All the girls were there putting their street clothes over their bikinis. I went and talk to the chick who earlier claimed to be Dominican. We exchanged whatsapps. Apparently she is a Venezuelan parading as a Dominican lawyer on vacation. I asked her where she was from and she said Santo Domingo. I said what part. She was stuck. Then she proceeded to talk about how she is on vacation and does not want to talk about any of that. She also said she left the Dominican Republic 20 years ago and did not know anything. The next day when the Venezuelan election took place she had put stuff on her whatsapp concerning the election.

We got a couple more numbers then went back to our rooms. I was not expecting to use any of the contacts because my girl was already on the way over. We did our thing then went out to eat and she went home about 9 pm. The fellas called me to meet up at the same restaurant that I had just left. I got there and 4 of the 6 guys had one of the chicks that were at the beach earlier. They had planned to keep them all night. No idea how much they were paying.

Whenever we go to restaurants they have this thing of wanting to sit inside with the air conditioning. Well the problem with this place was that the inside was hotter than outside. I kept telling them it was hot as fuck and why not move outside. I went and got one of those chairs from the bar and sat directly under the half working AC.

One of the guys got up like he was going to the bathroom, turned around, bent over, and paused. He was fucking losing it. We had to grab him and get him back seated, and treat him for heat stroke. I told them it was hot as fuck in that room. I called Indriver to bring him back to their place where there was definitely cold AC. The girl he had came with me to help nurse him. The rest of the people came later.

We had plans to check out Androgeno, but because of that incident the plans fell though and everyone decided to stay inside. The ones that already had chicks with their chicks. I was happy because I was already sleepy as fuck.

The chicks were hitting me up after I left asking if I was still there.

Long time reader, first time reporter.

Thought I'the start giving back to the forum since I've been able to gather so much info by just RTFF. I've Been to a lot of LATAM, and I'm Latino so Spanish isn't an issue for me. I usually just go and spend a couple months in BOG and love it there, the weathers not so great but I don't mind. I will be writing in the BOG thread at some point soon.

I just spent two days in CTG and yesterday (a Tuesday) went to El Paraíso Marino. The area is indeed a little sketch, but nothing worse than Santa Fe or the like. At 10 pm on a Tuesday it was not dead but not full, at around midnight it filled up a bit. Once inside I felt completely safe, but again I speak Spanish fluently and feel I have good street smarts. The inside looks nice and there were easily, to my taste, a couple of 8-9's but a lot of 6-7's. Also pretty expensive, but I expected that going in. They have a pool that you can get in if you want, I didn't. They also have every girl available go up to you and introduce themselves as a line up. They also have hookahs, which I love, and a wide variety of of liquors and beers.

The rooms were spacious and clean and have a shower, and the price for the girl and the room were 450 k. Expensive I know, I would never pay that in BOG, but this chick was a 9 to me and I don't mind spending $113 (at current exchange rates) once in while for the experience. I even asked one of the waiters what the price for the girl and the room are when my chick went to the bathroom, and he quoted the same price, so do with that what you will. In the room she was great and very "entregada" and GFE, so much so my pelvis hurts a little from the session LOL. So no complaints besides the price on my part.

Overall, if I was willing to spend that kind of money I would definitely go again.

Cartagena had a few overcast days where it was not hot as fuck but I suppose that is why people go there. Spirit is flying from Orlando to CTG once again. That is the best way to get to the city IMO. You arrive earlier than other flights though the Orlando airport is a zoo. If you buy a one way ticket, you likely have to check in at the gate to get a boarding pass which is always fucking madness. You are less likely to have to go to the gate if you buy a round trip ticket and can get your boarding pass on line I have found. Fort Lauderdale is usually better than Orlando for checking in time wise but not by much. I have been having to fly Spirit because outside of an occasional great deal on other airlines, you are paying double in comparison price wise.

Once you get into Cartagena, there are new banners demonizing sex trafficking that I did not notice before. I did not see the Medellin style harassment though. Customs agents were friendly like they always were and the line moved along well. On checkout back out of Colombia, lines were not bad either and agents are pushing people to use the biomig machines. That may be why lines moved faster upon exiting.

I got the dreaded SSSS on my ticket. It is funny that on my trip to CTG I never had to remove my shoes but on the way back, I had to remove them three times. I was told on one flight that I flew unrelated to this one that the airline I was using did not participate in TSA precheck. I am not sure what that means. It sounds like if the airlines are not paying the TSA they are not allowed to do TSA precheck. For whatever reason, Spirit did not give me precheck on the return but priority boarding. There was no difference with that and regular boarding when I was in Lauderdale as the lines were short. This was probably the least busy I have seen airports for a long time.

The SSSS search resulted in them getting the blades off my razor and the spare blades I used. I have done 20+ flights with the razor and spares, and I was not alone. The counter was filled up with razors. So do not pack them in your carry-ONS now. Don't ask me why.

For the most part, Cartagena has not had a crazy good bakery despite their being an obvious demand for one. Well, they have one now. The places is called Melt. Their baked good is called a melte and I think there were four different flavors. Bakery is next to KFC on Carerra 2. We ate in the restaurant and were there at least an hour, and there was a line out the door the whole time. They are going to need a bigger store. Yeah, the meltes were damned good. This is a world class product although sadly the meltes are not that good when cold. You have to get them fresh. https://www.instagram.com/somos.melt/.

Ice cream wise, the wisdom was that the best ice cream was Crepes and Waffles. Sad for sure. But there is a small stand that sells gelato on the first floor in the Serrezuela mall, and it is awesome. The stand is made out to be a pink Cadillac and usually there is a small line there. Again, this is probably the only above average product of its sort in the city.

I get why there is demand for some of the island beaches like Bora Bora. You get the clear water and white sand. Thing is when I went snorkeling the undertow was so severe it took away from a lot of the enjoyment. Also, the trip out there was not so bad in the morning the ocean was calm but on the way back, if you are in a smaller boat, you are going to feel like you are on horse back as the boat bucks so much because of the waves. It is also an 1+ hour to get out there.

The biggest island off the coast is Tierra Bomba. My gal set us up a tour there. We got a nice tour of the fort and it was interesting. The fort is not as impressive as Castillo San Felipe but it was pretty impressive in its own right. The part I would return to is the beach right next to the fort. Yes, this beach has the same black dirt feel as that on Hollywood Beach, and the water is more dark than clear but the beach is protected from the waves so there is no undertow and it is really, really calm. I asked if the beach was always like this and was told yes. So if you just want to lay out or swim, it is perfect. It was also empty at 11 AM on Tuesday so it has that going for it as well.

A 20 minute walk from the beach is a hotel where we ate lunch. Sorry, I forgot the name. What made this hotel special is it had a fresh water pool which is pretty remarkable because Tierra Bomba has no fresh water on the island. Apparently, it all has to be shipped in from the mainland. Lunch was the typical but excellent island fare: fried red fish, coconut rice, avocados. If you have not had that dish, you are missing out.

And Tierra Bomba is just like 20 to 25 minute boat ride. Maybe it was the boat had more people than the one I had been on previously but the horse bucking feeling I had on the previous boat did not happen and the boat ride was pleasant unlike the return from the Rosario islands.

So, figured I would make report, though this was in Cartagena 7 months ago, so, oldish info. It was kind of funny, this was my first real mongering focused trip, and literally days after I booked everything non-refundable (cheapest), the Mayor of Cartagena issues a moratorium on prostitution in Old Town. Thought that was going to make finding women difficult, but showed up and the ladies were all out and about!

The first night went almost too well, as I found a serious cutie in less than 10 minutes. Set me back 400 K. The women out and about seemed innumerable at the time because I hadn't really taken the scene fully in yet. The next night brought things into better perspective, as I spent hours on the stroll in Old Town. There were maybe 75-100 women out in total throughout the night. I got the dreaded SSSS on my ticket. It is funny that on my trip to CTG I never had to remove my shoes but on the way back, I had to remove them three times. I was told on one flight that I flew unrelated to this one that the airline I was using did not participate in TSA precheck. I am not sure what that means. It sounds like if the airlines are not paying the TSA they are not allowed to do TSA precheck. For whatever reason, Spirit did not give me precheck on the return but priority boarding. Spent a few days in CTG in August. The forum was helpful, particularly Mr E's, GoingInBig005 and reviewing content from YouTube. I saw one of the hosts on YouTube a few times during my stay (DangerTheHookUp); he's also a guide, etc. When I talked to him, the first thing he mentioned is that fells should know some Spanish.

At the airport immigration went quickly, they needed the exact address of my Airbnb (in Menga) and not just a general location. I was hoping to get a SIM card in the airport but not available. While waiting for the Uber one of the airport staff pointed me to a tienda in front the airport that sold SIM cards, it was close by but the Uber had already arrived. I was able to get a SIM by the Airbnb. I always use a separate phone for international travel and the real phone is secured wherever I'm staying at.

It took a while to check into the Airbnb. All the information I sent them in advance, they wanted to verify again.

Changed, went to Boca Grande to eat and walk around a little. Then the Walled City.

I could describe the Walled City as a more controlled, calm but fun environment as Bourbon St! Follow the music and the crowd.

There is a lot of sights and mingling in the street. Though I did go into a few clubs it was much better for me to walk around and mingle. A couple of nights I left my buddies and walked around myself. There's liquor stores and cigar shops in the area so I had no further interest in visiting the clubs in the Walled City.

I also visited Androgeno – I went twice because of the group we were with. Great sights but it's a club and the crowd starts late. El Parsiso Del Marino was nice and I wish I went back.

One day we went to San Basilio de Palenque (excursion). It was nice but it's not one hour from Cartagena, it was raining, driver didn't know what he was doing and I probably would have been more educated by watching YouTube videos or WiKi (which I did afterwards).

The next day we walked down Carrera #2 in Bocagrande. Casa de cambio (at some point I just used the ATM), picked up some miscellaneous items and went to the beach. A lot of restaurants, bars, tiendas, shops, vendors, etc. On Carrera #2. There was someone almost every other block that had the hookup on things.

The beach is amazing! Though I've never been to Sosua I imagine it's a similar vibe, but it was amazing to see the Colombian and Venezuelan women.

I was aware that many people had problems with vendors at the beach and servers. 1) I never sat down so didn't get bothered with anyone. 2) I ordered all my drinks directly with the cashier. I got a printed receipt every time I made a purchase, 1 Club Colombia beer is $2. 15, $9000 COP, the bar does charge a 10% service fee. One night at Androgeno I ordered 12 beers for $72.34. I saw no requirements that if you enter the beach you have to purchase food and drinks from the vendors, FYI.

The beach closes at 6 and the police will make you aware you have to leave. I went back to the beach by myself another day and had a great time. Keep your phone charged and use the WhatsApp QR code. It was funny when I would let someone scan my QR code and then her friend would scan my code also.

It's hot, humid and will rain. I found some stylish water shoes on Amazon that I wear to the beach. At night it was shorts and polo's (moisture-wick).

Some friends did a boat ride to an island, but it didn't seem economical for me (price and no food or drinks); comparing it to my DR experiences, etc.

I'm always a good host at an Airbnb so keep my refrigerator stocked with rotisserie chicken and beer.

Anything that you purchase / buy always ask for the price in advance, do some Q and A.

First visit and a very fun experience.

Just got back from CTG last night. Centro is no longer fenced in. There is a lot of cops that keep telling sellers and girls to keep moving. They can no longer just stand in one spot.I was there August 14-28. It was the same way, but unlike my last trip (a year ago), I had a great time. I did get a little more adventurous and avoided the clock tower (and El Centro) for the most part, but when I was there, women didn't approach me like in the past. Just google men's massage and you'll find them. There are 4 that I tried. I even went to someone's incall in a bad neighborhood.

I think I was at Dolce. They wanted me to buy a bottle for $100 to sit down. I looked around and saw dozens of women sitting without even a drink in their hand. But if I wanted to sit, I needed to pay $100. I at least had bought a drink. So, that was the one and only time I went there.

I will be in CTG in 3 weeks, after one week in Medellin for work. I will have not much time for fun in Medellin, except exploring the Centro at night. I hope that 10 years of absence did not change it too much, and did not make me naif enough with aging to get in trouble for my fault.

I also thank for all advices, but it seems that some did not remember that I have been playing in CTG for almost 20 years already. My first time was around 2006, when the Wall at night was the border between the safe Tower and the wild lonely space with gangs of ladrones outside. Even most of the walled city at night was too lonely to be safe.

If you are traveling to CTG for your first time, the Walled City or Boca Grande would be best if you want to be close to the action. The Walled City will have a lot of street walkers once the sun goes down and night clubs. You can also check out Club Omnia or Club Cattleya (the new Dolce Vita) in the Walled City.

If you stay in Boca Grande I would suggest hitting up Playa Hollywood (Hollywood Beach) during the day and hitting the streets of Boca Grande at night. There are usually working women walking around everywhere.

AirBnB is typically better but you need to make sure the place is guest friendly which is harder and harder to find nowadays. Check your DMs and I will send you some places that are good to stay at.

I would suspect that if Rumble ever gets popular they will censor and take down videos as well.

And then of course sometimes information will also cost you money. This website is full of great information but we all had to pay to be apart of it.

I'm in Cartagena for the next 9 days. I generally go after "normal" looking women. Meaning if you can tell they are working, I'm not interested. My first act of stupidity was choosing to walk. I do walk a little to stay healthy and figured that the 3+ miles walk would be good for me. That would be fine if I wasn't in such a miserably hot place. I brought a half gallon of water with me which was gone after mile 2. I literally thought I was going to die but I was completely soaked in sweat and couldn't get into someone's Uber without thoroughly pissing them off.

So, I get to Hollywood Beach. Disappointing is an understatement. That place sucked. I was harassed to no end. People wanting to find me chicas, to sell me illegal substances, massages from gross women to food you couldn't pay me to eat. It was constant and unending. Which gets me back to my 3rd bit of stupidity. I lasted about 15 minutes at the beach and figured ID relax and have a drink before I Uber back. I somehow got turned around and ended up walking circles around Bocagrande. So the tally:

0 hot women; about 15-20 total.

About 100 men leering at them.

3 hours wasted.

Never again.

Other than that it has been pretty productive. Went to a couple massage places for a great massage with happy ending. They have to work on their marketing though. I am just back from CTG. It was planned to be a 4N trip, but due to Avianca madness I had to reduce it to 2N. I spent lot of time in BOG, including so many hours wasted at El Dorado. The only good thing is that cancelled flights allowed me to pay a visit also to Santa Fe.

I am happy to confirm the Reloy square is free from barriers, there is a police van but they don't play the siren (Gosh! What was the purpose if not breaking the ears of people, all people, men, women, families, regular vanilla tourists?? How could police be so stupid to think that breaking the ears of people with a siren increases security? *) and things are pretty much as before, EXCEPT:

1) There are no more clubs / bars meant to meet girls. No more Space, LDV, whatever (my memories of Golden Times date back to FABULOUS ELEKTRA, the best place of my life in the whole Latin America). Only bars full of regular tourists, good for music and drinks. This is bad. I loved the vibe of bars full of WGs.

2) There are many sexy working girls, but walking around the walled city within say 3-4 blocks from Reloy. Yes, they can be at Reloy, but not many and seldom standing. They stop for a while, then walk away, otherwise police comes to question (although I have seen that only once). Now, the way to meet girls is WALKING. The more you walk, the more you see. If you don't see and approach many, the probability to meet one girl of interest is small. Be fit guys. Don't be lazy. Walk.

3) The quality of girls (at least when I was there) is nothing good as before. I met in CTG the most stunning LA (Latin America, not Los Angeles) girls of my life! Now, most girls look veteran, chubby, silicon, just rough, whatever makes them not a model type. Say less then 5% attracted my attention, but in practice I have approached less than that. Over two nights, I remember just 3 that I liked to the point of thinking "I wish this be mine":

Cartagena use to be my spot. I have been all over that city, beaches and nearby islands on many occasions. I got to the point of burn out along with the changes and dip in quality. PreCovid were the best of times of course but afterwards things and quality went down. Still, the plan in Colombia is $60 a month for unlimited use which is half of what the USA is and why I had her buy the dish. Also, dish price was $300 in Colombia versus $600 in USA. Peak speeds in Colombia were 120 mb per second. Average was the 20 to 40 range, but the big thing is Starlink unlike the rural internet that was there was always working and reliable. The internet that was there was not working half the time.

In Cartagena, we always had issues with the internet breaking down until they started using wireless 5 g towers for the internet in our building and now our internet is fine.

As far as why Cartagena is getting ready to explode, the first part is if you go to Florida in December, January, or February, and think you are going to get warm, think again. I have frozen my ass off in Florida during those times. You are not safe in Florida until March.

In Cancun-Tulum, you get the mid 80's for highs and what used to be fantastic beaches. Tulum could compete with any beaches in the world with its white sand and crystal clear water. Thing is those beaches are now flooded with smells like ass seaweed. What shocked me is the airlines are now cutting service to Tulum's brand new airport.

On one of my flights to Cartagena, the flight was loaded with a group of fun loving and loud guys. I started talking to one of them and it turns out they were professionals on a bachelor party. They got a big airBNB where they could all hang out and hired a chef to cook for them. I thought about it and Cartagena really is the perfect place to have a bachelor party. You have hookers, casinos, decent restaurants and enough things to do for a week. You are guaranteed warm weather, seaweed free beaches, and do not have to worry about tropical storms or hurricanes. These guys wanted to get out of ice cold Chicago, and I was thinking how many guys in NYC, Philly, Boston, or DC are going to come to the same conclusion and fly to CTG. So the mayor's move to push the hookers underground and prices rising makes sense.

After just being in often cold and cloudy Bogota, it reminded me of how every woman I met and asked there would love to spend a few days in sunny and warm Cartagena. I wouldn't go to Cartagena for a mongering trip, unless you are interested in what the street / bar scene has to offer there, as juxtaposed to what Cartagena also offers as a standard vacation spot. I went to Cartagena specifically for the street scene, amazing food, and overall pirate city / unique vibe. No traffic to deal with, no bullshit lady-drinks, no online bait & switch, etc. There are upsides to Cartagena when contrasted to Medellin and Bogota. However, Medellin would be a far better choice if you are looking for online and casa options in addition to what Lleras and Centro have to offer there. As for myself, I'm a bit of a hunter I suppose, and the street scene at Cartagena is perfect for that. Medellin's street scene is like shooting fish in a barrel comparatively, but with not so great food, air pollution, traffic, etc.

Hey all quick trip report here. SUPER long, especially as it was only 2 days / nights, but I had a bangin good time, pun intended!

Friday 1/24 - arrived around 1 PM, took an hour exactly to get through immigration, no thanks to the mfers who constantly try to cut the fucking line. DO NOT BE THAT ASSHOLE!! Seriously stop fucking doing that. Anyway. Uber to Soy Local Hotel. Walked to the corner store and got some essentials, then wandered around. At 4 PM, ZERO girls on the street. And after initially asking the waiter, super cool dude, which to choose between that or the ceviche mixto, he immediately said corroncho and I wasn't really buying it, but afterward, definitely appreciative of that recommendation. Goddamn, near perfect. Mojitos were good to, but not as good as El Muelle in Playa Laguito, which I'll get to in Saturday's section.

2 mojitos and the ceviche down, headed out again to see what was up, now that it was pushing 7 PM. Wandered the few blocks north of clock tower, then coming back around, and ran into a girl, totally can't remember her name. She was in white shorts, white crop-top kinda, and with big titties and a nice smile, she got my attention. These are the printed / laminated cards that have the costs for umbrellas, chairs, recliner chairs, etc. , so yes, Gringo pricing is a thing. That said, I got a mojito from one of the little shacks and by speaking Spanish and not being an asshole I don't think I was overcharged or treated differently, all the folks were very nice. 2) I was NOT accosted by beach vendors / touts / massage ladies every 20 meters as others have noted. I'm not saying that doesn't happen, it just didn't happen to me. 2 or 3 massage ladies made their offers, I politely turned them down, they attempted a "sample" where they rub your shoulders / neck, whatever, I still politely turned them down and they moved on, all a pleasant interaction, nothing terrible. The cigar vendors were also willing to take "No Gracias" and walk away. The bracelet vendors same thing. I did see 2 older gringos react very negatively and very strongly with some inappropriate language and that got a very bad reaction in return. Not telling people what to do, but if you behave like an asshole, you're probably going to get shitty / asshole treatment in return. Just sayin'.

Anyway, walked back to Laguito, checked out the guys gutting fish, saw a chef walking back to Muelle holding a live lobster, which was interesting, and then headed to Muelle Playa Laguito to eat. Well, we get to the main part of the club and yeah, much more like an Atlanta strip club. The one guy pays for a bottle of Tequila for $800 k (Yes you read that right), which comes with a table for us to claim our spot by, 4 Canada Dry small mixer bottles plus some limes with spicy salt, and we have a shot. Not a ton of girls around, but more than enough, and more streaming in every minute. The excited guy is wide awake now, getting numbers, having the girls grind on him, clothed lap dances, etc. And we're just laughing he was enjoying himself so much. About 11:30 PM, I'm thinking I might dip early, but was going to hang out and see.

Supposedly there are some day-trips to a nearby island that is supposed to be fun.

INFO ON AIRPORT CTG for those who want a recent "how long is the wait in line" observation: I checked in online and had my digital boarding pass, so only had to head straight to security. The security line was not long, but man, the process of just "checking out" using the automated machines the same as they use in BOG was just sooooo much longer. No idea why. The Americans in line just didn't get how to use the machine (simple, place passport, DO NOT REMOVE IT, key in your flight number, wait for the machine to take your photo and wait for the green light signal, only then remove the passport, gate will open and you're on your way.) Screening of the bag was super quick after that. If they could speed up the passport scanning piece, the whole thing would've been 10 minutes quicker.

All that said, I left the hotel at 10 AM for a noon flight, but by the time I was through security and waiting at the gate, including travel time by Uber, it was 45 minutes. So I probably could have left 15-30 minutes later and gotten there just as boarding began, but maybe that's pushing it a little too closely.

Upon check-in, the woman at the desk, after all the normal costs, signing the guest form, paying the bill upfront for the nights to be stayed, etc. Gives a rundown of the "guest policy", basically she said, in English no less, "If you meet someone and decide to bring them here, please know that we will take their physical identification and hold it while they're here. We will not give it back to them until you return to the front desk with them and instruct us that everything is ok and that we can return their identification to them."

At that, I was well satisfied that things would be ok.

Best part, I took 2 guests back and unlike in Medellin, there was zero guest charge. Just turn the ID over, the front desk person makes a note in a notebook and files the ID in an folder organizer, and off you go to the room. When you return, they ask the girl what her name is, check the notebook, retrieve it from the folder and off she goes.

For me in Medellin, most hotels wanted $100 k per guest, so between $20 and $25 USD at current exchange rates.

Given that the girls in Cartagena at least TRY to charge more, if you factor out the added guest charge that you'd pay in Medellin, the 2 become more comparable. Although Hotel Nutibara in Medellin centro did not charge me any guest fees either.

Bottom line, Soy Local Centro Historico was a decent enough place, with an ideal location near to all the action that if you wanted to bring multiple girls back over multiple days, the savings in terms of not paying guest fees could be pretty substantial.

NOTE: be aware that they use some sort of powerfully scented cleaning solution when mopping the floors throughout the building. If you're sensitive to strong smells, this might not be the place for you. Think Fabuloso type strong smell. If you like that, or are used to it because your family uses it, then you'll be fine. For me it hit me hard when I first was in the lobby checking in, but got used to it over the next 2 days. Just an FYI.

OTHER NOTE: The guys I met were staying at an OZ Hotel down in Bocagrande and they also said guests were allowed and did not mention guest fees being charged.

The person who owns Delirium also owns Androgeno.

When they shut down Delirium (some say the mayor shut it down others say the owner shut it down to remodel). The owner took all the signage and decor and move it to Androgeno because he knew a certain type of crowd will follow and sure enough like flies on shit they did follow. It then became too packed because it was too small so they expanded it but even so it still too damn small and the experience is still the same. I don't know about everyone else but I'm not a fan of having no 300 lb man rubbing his beer belly against me every time he has to go to the damn bathroom or be shoulder to shoulder with someone drenched in sweat with volume control issues repeating the same dumb ass phrases over and over (like I said; you know what it is; what I'm saying is; you know what I'm saying).

On a sidenote:

Another thing that people arent talking about is the big problem happening in Cartagena with those Ray-Ban camera glasses especially in Delirium / Androgeno and its going to lead to the same thing that happened in Brazil where some guys were using Osmo Pocket to record the girls while having sex with them and the girls didn't know. They are doing the same thing in Cartagena with the girls in Androgeno, the girls already picked up on it, took pictures of the guys wearing the glasses in the club and the glasses and they are talking about it.

PASSPORT BROS SIDE NOTE: I know that many folks who post here are anti-passport bros, which almost invariably means black American men, and I do understand the agitation with some of their over the top behaviors. Hell I even saw a black American woman just twerking her ass off in the middle of a street, singing along with a hip-hop song emanating from one of the nearby bars (it was a great ass, so I was in favor of this behavior). However, I will say I had an absolutely spectacular time hanging out with these 3 black guys as a mid-50's white guy. Was one of them really over the top, yes, but he was just so damn happy and excited by all the girls in the street, and the quantity of WhatsApp numbers he was getting that when he just yelled out to no one in particular "GODDAMN I LOVE COLOMBIAAAAAA! I could only laugh and agree. It was hilarious. Just an expression of near pure joy that was fun to witness.
I'm going to guess that you found it amusing because its not something that is a constant in your life. To elaborate I'm guessing where you come from, you don't hang out with individuals who display that type of behavior on a daily basis so one night of loud mouths and a woman twerking in the middle of the street was fun to you to witness. By the 100th time you see it you will see it as an annoyance JAJAJ.

Inside the club, they actually had "Delirium" signage, shirts on the servers, and a few other places, even though the club itself is named Androgeno Latin Club, with the address as listed.

Why that is, I couldn't say, and I didn't really think to interrogate them as to why that was.Hell, to save some money. Nothing wrong with that!

You are right on with this observation. I saw at least 2 guys who had them, and I noticed that a little light would come on by the right hinge on the lens side of the glasses when they were recording. I didn't say anything because the dude was 2 x my size, but yeah, it's fairly obvious when the light is on that there's something happening.

Won't be long before people get pissed and someone gets their head cracked.


Some back story.

The person who owns Delirium also owns Androgeno.

When they shut down Delirium (some say the mayor shut it down others say the owner shut it down to remodel). The owner took all the signage and decor and move it to Androgeno because he knew a certain type of crowd will follow and sure enough like flies on shit they did follow. It then became too packed because it was too small so they expanded it but even so it still too damn small and the experience is still the same. I don't know about everyone else but I'm not a fan of having no 300 lb man rubbing his beer belly against me every time he has to go to the damn bathroom or be shoulder to shoulder with someone drenched in sweat with volume control issues repeating the same dumb ass phrases over and over (like I said; you know what it is; what I'm saying is; you know what I'm saying).

On a sidenote:

Another thing that people arent talking about is the big problem happening in Cartagena with those Ray-Ban camera glasses especially in Delirium / Androgeno and its going to lead to the same thing that happened in Brazil where some guys were using Osmo Pocket to record the girls while having sex with them and the girls didn't know. They are doing the same thing in Cartagena with the girls in Androgeno, the girls already picked up on it, took pictures of the guys wearing the glasses in the club and the glasses and they are talking about it.
