We get asked this question so many times. For any newbie going to Medellin the best place to stay is at Medellin Mansion. IMHO, your best Wing Mans in Medellin are all the guest staying at the Mansion also known as Casa Blanca.
You will have access to the wealth of information from any of the regulars at the Casa Blanca.
Try to stay at Casa Blanca 1 if you are making your first trip as they have two hotels but Casa Blanca 1 is best for newbies.
Just search Medellin Mansion online or look at the thread Casa Blanca Medellin in Colombia Section.
Girl costs at the Mansion are 150 mil approx $85 for couple of hours. All nights are negotiated and many guys pay 200 mil ($110) for all night to 250 mil ($ 130).
Most of the guys visit Casas during the day which can cost approx 30mil ($20) for 30min session. If you are looking for fucking many girls on a budget then Casa are your best option.
Many other choices in Medellin. Girls are available on all budgets from $20 and upwards. Loutron a high end Casa costs approx $110 for a session with the girls.
Most girls will do BBBJ in Medellin most will kiss you mouth to mouth. Most will not do Anal sex.
Other then that if you stay in or near Poblado area you are safe. In Downtown (Centro) you are relative safe until 6 pm after that time it gets shady.
If you have time in you may want to visit Mayorista after 11pm on Friday / Saturday nights, as some guys have better luck over there. Cost at Mayorista is about 30- 50mil. I am not sure as I have only been their once.

I factually know that you have business links or interests in Poblado Rentals. I have seen many a posts stating the option of apartment rentals from all of you and believe me on this board as well as outside the board people who ask me about apartment rentals, Poblado Rentals would be my number 1 choice. Mansion (CB 1 or CB2) may not be the only option for a first timer to Medellin but IMHO it sure is the best option.
I just wish someone else starts something similar to the Mansion in Medellin. Even with 6 rooms or 10. I would be their first customer at least to try them.
Meanwhile I honestly believe that a newbie especially whose Spanish is rudimentary would be best advised to have stayed at the Mansion.

I must respectfully disagree that the Mansion (I. E. CB1 / CB2) is the only option for the first-time visitor to Medellin. Lots of things have changed down here in Medallo in the past year. Perhaps TweedleD or Legal Tender can enlighten some of the Medellin newbies as to current affairs in the City of Eternal Spring!

I agree that you should stay at the Mansion for your first trip especially if you don't understand ESPANOL. Now I do speak spanish and fluently, but I still went to the Mansion on my first trip but only stayed there for 3days as I learned a lot from a couple of experienced mongors and since my spanish was good I decided to rent an apartment at the poblado and flew solo and had a fantastic time and been back several trips since then.
One great plus from staying in el mansion is that Boyd has a great map of the casas en el centro. I got a copy from him before I went solo. Thanks Boyd! Get that map but still go there with the old timers. Go with the old timers over going with Boyd, he seems at times impatient with the newbies on field trips.

Hard to beat the Casa Blanca (former Mansion) for first time and / or inexperienced Medellin explorers.
Is it the only option? Of course not. At the Casas Blanca (1 or 2) , however, your learning curve will be high and introductions will be many.
Less spinning of the wheels tryng to learn the ropes and as the previous poster, Brasil mentioned, you can always stay a few days and then move on if ya like.

Mansion? Add their room cost with their girl cost and it is very expensive each day! My opinon best strategy. Find a local driver, a taxi man recomended by a hotel or rental agencie. Hey, I called a bunch of these referrals and got an excellent 30 yrs. Old guy. Very experienced, great fun, and very inexpesive. We went out every afternoon together and some nights. I have his info. John just had a great report. Thanks. My recomendation for fun. Go to NL. I had fun with many there. Never had a so, so, session. I'd have one session for 30 min. And hold orgasim. Take a break and go out get some food down on Oriental, smoke; then come back and have a beer and then another session. This way you get a whole afternoon of fun! Propina for BBBJ was $20K-30K. Simonee is a true 10. My total cost including food, beer, two sessions (1 with propina) , was under $60 USD. Question: Are there many pro's working in Parque Lleras? Day? Night? Disco's? $$?

Only thing I have a problem is not only you, but others who insist that Poblado is such a safe area. To quote Willie Sutton when asked why he robbed banks " That is where the money is " same goes for Poblado in the minds of the Banditos of MDE. To me all Colombia should be regarded as dangerous just like any big city.

John.I don't know about Poblado Rentals, much less have an interest in it.
When talking about the options for the first or second timer in Medellin in the context of arranging tours with Medellin Paisa or staying at CB1 or CB2 is comparing apples oranges. There are many discussions of CB here. Simply, it's a bed & breakfast that is frequented, especially in the afternoon, by many beautiful Paisa girls, many are university students. I recall CB1 has 13 rooms, and there are mongers from all over the world. Generally very interesting folks. Big Bad Boyd of CB2 is famous for his casa tours. CBs have their solid appeal, but if you happen to find a "regular" girl, she won't come back to the Mansion with you. All the girls know of it.
Medellin Paisa offers a very different service. First, he's not in Poblado, but in the real Medellin. All the people in his bario know him, and he is well known and accepted by the locals. Something that doesn't happen overnight. He will take you around Medellin. The real Medellin. And will help you find lodging, but to my knowledge there is no pecuniary interest in any real estate. If you're interested in getting to know about Medellin, the history and social norms, MP is the man. Really a nice guy. Besides, his having lived there for over five years has other benefits. Some of his amigas are top shelf. These are girls, just normal girls that work or go to a university, but are generally very beautiful. You won't see these girls at the mansion or in a casa. He can introduce you if you're not a jerk.

John.Ricker is personal friends with Robert and Greg and his been posting for over 9 years on what great guys these two are, (and I don't disagree) I've stayed at CB properties on three of my vacations and have got to say I've had great times! I have no interest in Medellin Paisa's business, other than I consider him a personal friend and generally a pretty good guy. As far as poblado rentals goes, I also have no financial interest in that business. However, my last 6 trips I've stayed there, The aptartment route for me offers greater privacy, A bit higher level of luxury and just an overall more pleasant experience for me, I usually hang with one or two good friends and just enjoy life, The CB's offer great entertainment value but I'm just getting to that age where I don't want to share my house with 12 strangers. Also when it comes to women I tell them what I am willing to "donate" rather than them telling me 150k is the price.

-Spazio 44.
-Prizma.
-Karma.
-Aqua.
-Envy.
-Mangos.
-MIA VIP Room.
-Palmitas.
-Blow.
My preference is catered to the discos with the better looking women. I won't be able to touch all these nightspots so any suggestions on which, on or off the list, should be a priority and on which nights would be greatly appreciated.

Although I am not a big fan of the new rules that they have at Medellin Mansion / Casa Blanca / A new name in the making (LOL) , I am a firm believer in do unto others as you would want others to do to you. So if any newbie wanting to come to Medellin for the first time my recommendation to them would always be stay at Casa Blanca 1. Unless the person is staying in Medellin on first trip for more then a week then only he can choose the option of staying first few days at the Mansion and then moving on to an apartment.
Yes apartment option is cheaper. Yes I agree that Mansion girls have now priced them out of the Market for many gringos travelling to Medellin. I think before when they started a policy of having a subtle price of 150 mil. 150 mil was translating to ($60) which was very reasonable. Now that 150 mil is calculating to about $85. But all this devaluation of US dollar has nothing to do with Mansion Girls unless all the guys staying at the Mansion start paying equivalent of $65 which now will be 120 mil pesos.
Personally I stay at Casa Blanca because I am in that comfort zone. I am willing to try new options but my comfort zone just kicks in.

If the answer is no to both of these, then you will have no chance. All you can do is hangout and pray to get lucky. JohnI just want to set the record straight. I am a one-man operation. I help my clients find lodging that suits their needs & I do not make any sort of commission from their lodging decisions. I charge a daily rate for providing the services for my clients. I pick them up at the Airport with one of my "trusted" drivers & usually spend 12-14 hours per day with them. Neither Legal Tender nor TweedleD have ever been one of my clients, although I have thrown them a few "bones" per se in the name of friendship. LOL! I do suggest to many of my clients that they stay at a Poblado Rentals apartment because this allows me to do my job much better (issues of security & privacy for my clients). In addition, I have no financial interest in Poblado Rentals but I do consider BBrocs a good friend.
I am a one man operation that offers customized VIP Concierge services for the special type of client who wants to discover the real Medellin. I have had many clients from ISG though many prefer not to post too much info on the internet & I must respect their privacy! I must be doing something right because I am now "booked" 2 months in advance.

Please keep in mind that I have NEVER used either Teams Servises. Not because I am not on good terms with any of the two parties but rather I have not had the need. Set you up on your own in a clean nice safe apartment, with all the comforts and then some of home. IMO this is for the more established monger or the Spanish semi-fluent. If you have your pool of P4P, normal girls and Amigas con benificios then you don't need the MAIN draw of CB1-2. Being a semi intelligent person I imagine; you can't bring a normal girl back to CB1-2. Well I guess you could but she's going to feel "uncomfortable" and the BIGGEST goal you have with a normal girl is to make her feel comfortable around you. I know a ton of fellas both new and old to the monger scene are pretty clueless on "The Game" but it's true. In the States would you take a date out to a strip club? Answer: NO! Why? Because you went from cool-fun guy to Dirty-jerk-pig the second you rolled up into the parking lot & she now feels uneasy about herself and her appearance.
Privacy is also a HUGE and often overlooked aspect of getting you own spot. What if you meat a nice, cool, chica? There is no come over and I'll make you diner or any of that at CB1-2. Peace and quiet is at the mercy of all the other guests. I usually have to work when I'm down for an extended periods of time so I need to sleep early, get up early, make calls, skype, confrence calls, ect. How you going to do any of this when 10 guys are using up the bandwidth down loading movies and streaming music as they crush bottles of rum and beers? Imagine trying to speak with a client as the guy in the room next door is banging some chicas head up against the head board! Hahahaha.
In summation: First timers with little to 0 espanol skills should stay at CB1-2 to learn the ropes. Not an endorsement as I have never stayed there but it makes perfect sense or if you are looking for more of a party atmosphere and some heads to pal around with. (also get me Wendy's number or a girl who looks like her! LOL) Most everything is taken care for you.
For the more experienced or Espanol capable or who want a more private experience you should reach out to Mede Paisa (I have never used but good reviews of his service) and get an aprtment.

Just playing bro! But honestly you can't pin down a night at a club in Colombia IMO. Just like in US of A, what is hot last week is weak the next.
My advise; use this situation as a plus! Go strike up a conversion with a pretty girl (food court at the mall is my fave) and guide the conversation to Discotecas! Ask what are her favorites, where she likes to go, when are the best night, what kind of music they play, are there any promotions, if she likes to dance, ask about her in general! Don't forget you are a foreigner, you are excused for not knowing ANYTHING about any club in any part of the city! If the conversation goes well ask her if she'd like to go and tell her she can bring a friend if she likes, say you're going to bring a friend too but them when / if you meet them there say he got sick or some shit like that. And yes you're paying but in Colombia? FUCK IT! Cover in Vegas is $150 for three people; Just to get in! For a $150-$200 you're balling out of control in Colombia! Once in the Club DON"T be cheap. But also be mindful of what is going on and what the girls are doing, you don't' want to get played either.

As a rule of thumb, when it comes to nightlife in Medellin, the farther away from Parque Lleras you venture, the less likely you'll be sharing the bar or club with other foreigners. All venues are within Medellin city limits, unless otherwise noted.

New to town and want to start partying in Medellin right away, regardless of the night? Options are limited early in the week, however here are a few suggestions to help you find Medellin's party people:
Sunday – Karma (reggaeton, hip hop) or Tropical Cocktails (Sabaneta)
Monday – La Octava (rock)
Tuesday – El Eslabon Prendido (live salsa)
Wednesday – B-Lounge (crossover, ladies night)

Not an endorsement as I have never stayed there but it makes perfect sense or if you are looking for more of a party atmosphere and some heads to pal around with. (also get me Wendy's number or a girl who looks like her! LOL) Most everything is taken care for you.
For the more experienced or Espanol capable or who want a more private experience you should reach out to Mede Paisa (I have never used but good reviews of his service) and get an aprtment.

According to Colombian newspaper El Colombiano, two women and one man entered a hostel located near the corner of Calle 7 and Carrera 35, and registered as guests shortly after midnight.
Medellin Police Commander Yesid Vasquez told the paper,"they searched the tourist's room [. ] they asked him to open a box in which they found 20, 000 pesos ($11. 36) and that's when the problem started."
A struggle followed during which Levy was fatally shot and the suspects fled with Levy's valuables.
An anonymous source told Colombia Reports that the assailants did not register with the hostel and that the hostel's receptionist went upstairs to look for more money because the hostel only had 20, 000 pesos in its lock box.

Just got back from a real special tribute to Ronnie Montrose in SF CA. (You know, Montrose) I am a tipsy hard rocker (almost 60, haha) and feel like shootin a little. I will be down there in Med. I remember last year (first time and night in Colombia) getting to CB 1 late at night and Greg was in the lounge w / a hottie. We thought that we had an agreement with the Charlee GM but at check out time my client faced a Chica fine of $100. Dollars per chica ($1, 000. Dollars). The problem was fixed but only after I contacted the Owner's Rep in Miami. Got a dodgy vibe from the Aussie Campion bloke's realtor company and I noticed that every apartment I view online for sale or rent is offered by every broker. Seems everyone wants to sell me a certain penthouse for 4 or 5 different prices, but I get the feeling it is very much a desperado market there for sellers. Doubt if I will buy. Also, was booked to stay at "The Charlee" from tomorrow but if their front desk / receptions area is anything to go by I will pass.
Intend to settle in for a few weeks, take some real Spanish lessons as the online route and cd courses just don't seem up to par. Do some business. Then will book with your people for a few weeks for some fun in the sun probably in late June!

Why is the moderator not requesting and moving the posts on Casa Blanca out of 'Medellin Reports' into in own 'Casa Blanca Medellin' thread?
Got back from Medellin a week ago. I went April 27-30. I rate the trip a '4' for the reasons I will describe below. However, lets start with the positives.
PROS:
-The MOST Beautiful Women in the World. I have never seen ratios like this in my life and I've been everywhere noteworthy besides Vegas and Brazil. Those are two big destinations but nonetheless Medellin is in the top 3. The women are beautiful, go to Santa Fe or Premium Plaza and you will be a witness (Stay away from Rio Sur-place was ghost town on a Friday night). Now plastic surgery is big there but its not overdone where it looks disgusting. Nice boobs and plump butts. Even with the plastic surgery, you can't discount the looks on the women faces. Certfied 12s.
-City prides itself on physical fitness. On Sunday, they shut down driving lanes throughout the entire city for an hour so people can walk, run or do whatever exercise they deem plausible. You can tell they stress their physique as I did not see one obese person. Yes, there were a few that were overweight but for the most part everyone is in good shape.
-Gorgeous city. The airport sits atop of the mountains and the city is enclosed inside the mountains. Somewhat like a bowl. Definitely a site to see if you are the adventurous type.
-The casas are a GO. New Life is now 38, 000 pesos for the half and there is a casa around the corner from New Life with a blue door (directions from New Life: go down the hill, make the 1st left and it's the first blue door on your right). You pick the girl and then you go to the hotel next door which has a Jacuzzi also. Major plus. The rate at this casa was 32, 000 pesos (about 22 bucks. My type of party LOL). I picked Mickey-cute and fresh with a great personality and a love for the camera. I'll post the pics later.) At New Life I picked Jessica, no photos but she's a good one to have. She has the slutty look with a plump bottom. She's one of the better ones there. The lineup in both casas wasn't the best but for the value, can't beat it.
Side Note: There is an old white guy in front of New Life. He will probably come up to you asking if you are looking for New Life as you're going to stick out. This guy is golden. He will let you know where all the casas are and which ones are closed and open on the sheet of casas listed on the server. Use the sheet but talk with him before going to those places as some of them were closed and I couldn't locate one or two. The streets can be a bit confusing at times also.
Ok, now for the CONS:
-You need to speak SPANISH FLUENTLY. I reiterate you must speak SPANISH FLUENTLY. And for the 3rd time, know your DAM SPANISH LOL. Prior to my trip, I read the reviews of others saying the need to speak Spanish but it didn't register until I got there. That's why I am emphasizing the need. You need to know Spanish in Medellin as you would need to know your ABCs to write an English paper. I think that gets the point across. Now I took 4 years of Spanish in high school and I know the past, present and imperfect tenses, many of the regular used verbs and a significant amount of nouns. We met some women for dinner and I was able to have an hour convo but the stress on the mind of conjugating was too much. I felt like I was in a Spanish think tank, more less on vacation. Now my compadre didn't know anything but the basics. Forget about it, he was done before he started. They speak fast and a lot of times disregard your demand for them to speak slow. I assume since they are not a 3rd world city, they refuse to have the American customs practiced in Medellin although locals stated otherwise. Of the locals there, I say we met about 3 who spoke ok English.
-The women aren't so welcoming. We would walk down the street and say Hola! Many times they would keep walking or hold their head down. As many have said before, Medelliners party in groups. They mix when they know someone else in another group. Don't go here thinking you are going to be treated as KING JOFFIE JOFFA. In DR, women come up to you constantly and you are treated like royalty. Don't expect the same in Medellin as this is not a buffet. You can't get whatever you want. I struck conversation with a few top notchers and after a few lines, I let them know I wanted them and asked how much. They kindly rejected my offer. I think the reasoning is that they are not an impoverished city like Puerto Plata. The city is of the likes of Chicago and Newark, NJ. So no, every woman is not a prepago.
-Don't go in April, rained every day. Damper.
-Fase Dos, the premier strip club (which is behind Premium Plaza) is ok. The talent wasn't mind blowing (I say about 3 were LOL) and its more of a gentlemans club than strip club. To take one to the back room will run you about $100-$110 although locals say its $75. When I was in Medellin, I'm thinking $100 is American prices. However once I made it back to the States, I realized the quality of the women there for $100 would charge you $400 so take that perspective with you and you may be willing to dole out a Ben Franklin on some puta. They do have an after hours place in the Downtown district called La Nepa. However they were asking for the same prices smh. I got to the point where I was going to dish out the Ben Franklin but this girl was no where to be found after I made the decision.
-Parque Lleras seems more like a college bar town. Barrio Colombia is the place to go for partying. Prizma and a few other clubs are tucked away off the main street so make sure you go two streets up in both directions to get a view of all the clubs. There is a swingers bar in Barrio Colombia called Dreams. It looks like an apt. But it's definitely not. They have a website, I'll see if I still have the business card.
-City Shuts down on Sunday, make sure you exchange enough money on Saturday for Sunday too. I was walking around forever and figured the Carlton Hotel would have an exchange center and they did but it was 170 pesos less than the norm. Santa Fe Mall does have an exchange center so that's your backup option.
Good Things to Know:
-Watch out when you're in the road. They have no problem with hitting your ass and this is coming from someone who lives in NYC where everyone thinks we have the craziest drivers. Ain't got nothing on Medellin.

All in all my vacation wasn't the best and I hear mixed reviews on Cali and Cartagena being better than Medellin so I am hesitant to return to Colombia. However, I hope the info helps the brotherhood.

I recommend why'all avoid staying at "The Charlee" Hotel. Great place to visit but terrible to stay. Outside of the unique beauty of certain aspects of the hotel there is no soul here. The staff are rude, arrogant, ignorant and above all else incompetent. Why, ignored service calls. They tried to charge me for my interpreter visiting me in the roof top bar area. Not like she even entered my room. The food from room service was cold and poor and the one time I tried to bring a broad home they tisked tisked me almost publicly. So "Charlee (not Sheen) may appear to be a 5 star hotel on paper but the service is more akin to a RedRoof Inn. Oh and tey also wouldn't let me swim in their goddam pool because even though I was a paying guest they had some douchey local group there (4pm). All in all they can blow me.
Anyway, I digress. I went to a university here with the lady who has helped me with some verbal translations as she suggested I take the local Spanish courses. Well I got lost and found myself in the "English" classes, which not only for me as a native English speaker was much easier, but served my eyes and loins so well. The place was full of 20s-30s hotties and the great part is some of them are quite competent with other languages. Smiled at a few of the 30 somethings and will get down tp name taking and ass kicking later this week.

Just thought I would express my opinion. I know Bandy as I was one of the guys that was in Medellin when he was. He is a decent guy. The important point here is that it can give you insight into the culture over there and how the average colombiana pro and "non-pro" behave and think. That's all; I'm sure Bandy's a cool guy. BSThe OP is asking for a bar scene ala classicos, passions in the DR, Help Rio or Phillipines like Lollipops, LDV in Cartagena.
Even thought mayorista is open in the day, there are only a very few working girls, low quality and it is not a daytime spot, el centro is seedy and dangerous at all times in my opinion and besides the few skanky looking girls hanging out on DeGreiff I know of no bar in el centro that is full of 20 plus girls with a plethora of different kinds of "quality"

Has anyone used MDE as a starting point before heading to higher altitudes? I am researching the possibility of spending a few days in MDE before going on to Quito. I have been to Quito twice and eventually got over my illness but I'd like to make this less painful than it was on my previous trips. MDE made the most sense to me as a starting point.
I am looking for comments from people that have had trouble with altitude but came up with methods to make it easier for them.
Coca tea and all that other jive just doesn't work. Everybody reacts differently. *I need to do a slow ascent.

I am looking for comments from people that have had trouble with altitude but came up with methods to make it easier for them.

Thank YouYeah Coca tea didn't do much for me. I had a headache the first day in Cusco last September. I found that after doing a lot of walking up hills that got me a steady accelerated heart rate for a sustained period seemed to help. Maybe some cardio before you go? Get that body more efficient at using oxygen? Just a thought, no idea if it would work.

Quito. I got very sick just visiting for a few days. Was going to live there but could not handle the constant headaches etc.
Universities. Been checking out the various Uni's here in Medellin and the plethora of hotties at the various campuses. Went to Antioquia University up near the No Name Bar and La Manzana etc, and other places around Calle 67 and the hospital, see.

Actually met some older women from the hospital (30-40s) who speak ok English and got some dinner dates lined up and I will report on each after sucess or failure. My Espanol is horribly, ineptly hilarious with my thick accent. No-one understands me so I use the old bag interpreter in social situations and make her keep a phone on at all times so I can call her for help.
Went for a walk up to the Intercontinental Hotel to meet an old business contact (local wealthy business thug). He took me to the country club up the road near the K28 (?). Mainly families etc but the mate had several betties lined up for dinner. 2 were late 20's Paisas say 87/100 and one was exactly my type, busty (fake) , pretty face and some English skills (95/100). She said she was 22 but I am guessing more like 30, which is fine cause I am old. Hooked up with her, but sadly it appears she is a full on pro and works for the VIP escorts (so she says). I later checked the website and couldn't find anyone that looked like her and at her initial offer of 300k for 90 minutes, I almost choked. Told her I could pay less for equally attractive 10's in any number of countries and that 300k was almost $200, a lot even in a high GDP country. She baulked and after some haggling we worked out a 300k COP for a full 24 hours. BIG MISTAKE, and after taking her home and a standard BBBJ, average doggy / cowgirl sex etc she started to want more money. So now I am thinking the bint is going to go all Secret Service on me. I am just at a new hotel and feeling the pinch for my lack of language skills and my stupidity in agreeing to LT with her. I decide to ring my "mate" who is laughing his head off at me. Useless sonofabitch tells me it is my problem, get used to it here in Colombia. I ring the interpreter who gets on the line to the WG and explains in succint detail what we agreed on. It appears the Prepago bint is arguing with my interpreter and getting louder and louder, much louder. (Do these bints have a local union or something). Fuck me, it turns into a telephone swapping + screaming match. I eventually get an agreement to just give the girl 200k for services rendered and I get her out of there asap after telling her that I DO NOT WORK for any government and nor can I be easily bribed or conned (well all evidence to the contrary this time). I will attach pictures of said bint which she took with my old phone, sorry quality is low. Her name is Mariella (Maniella?) , stay away at all costs. Conveniently, her English skills disappeared when she worked out my Spanish was near zero. Bint!
So overall, we live and learn but the hunt is the real process here. I will focus on the non p4p scene and then go hunting to pick off the weaker safer prey. My language skills or lack thereof is going to be a humorous impediment but we have done well in worse situations. In the end, charm or some $$$ loot works I find. BTW, at all times I was very nice to said lady and treated her as best I could with respect.

All persons visiting the hotel, whether there students in the english learning program or visitors, will be required to study and or wait in the new bar area.
Pool area will be closed "around" 4. 00pm. 5.00pm.
There will still be barbeques/parties poolside, up to the descretion of the managment, more so on weekends than during the week.

Can't recall the name.
I gave up smoking in 1990. If you are a smoker it is more difficult. I remember from my old days in Johanesbourg. You get easily tired.
