Has anyone used a singles website before going down to the DR to line up woman? Isn't there a cupid something? Is there any success stories out there or any problem stories.

Thanks

I have read through a lot of the DR threads but am still a little unclear as this is all rather new to me. Can I have a perfectly successful mongering experience with only US dollars in the DR (specifically in Punta Cana)? Or am I better off with pesos? Or a mix? If someone could also please explain why that would be great.

Thanks!

Thanks! If you are staying in an all-inclusive hotel and spending most of your time there, then I imagine you can pay for everything in US dollars (someone please confirm this). You will probably not get a good exchange rate but as you will be paying through the nose for everything anyway that hardly makes much difference.

If you are spending most of your time and money in the "real" DR (outside of the AI gulag) then you should change your money into pesos. The reason is that most Dominicans are incapable of doing the simplest math in their head, and also cannot be expected to keep up with the fluctuating exchange rates of all the currencies used by Punta Cana visitors (US$, Can$, UK£, euro). To ensure they don't lose out they will therefore "round up" bigtime.

The example I always quote, as I have heard it in real life many times, is:

Monger to Puta: How much for ST?

Puta: $50 dollars (around 1900 pesos)

Monger: I don't have dollars. How about 1500 pesos?

Puta: OK, let's go.

The point being she had 1500 in her own mind all the time. Being double what she gets from her local customers she is more than happy.

Same principle applies to all transactions, not just buying sex.

I cannot understand what your objection to converting to pesos would be anyway.

This is especially so in the DR where the exchange is approximately 38 to 1. You will lose greatly on the exchange if you pay in dollars.

DOMINICANTODAY. COM JUNE 15, 2011.

After years of controversy and the expected opposition of the Catholic Church, the Chamber of Deputies is set to debate legislation to create red light districts in the Dominican Republic, aimed at halting rising prostitution practiced near the country's historical monuments.

The initiative by deputy (opposition PRD- San José de Ocoa) Esther Minyetti stipulates controls in streets with a historical and cultural character, where women offer sexual services daily.

The bill to create the 'red zones' would also require that sexual workers carry a card issued by the Public Health Ministry, where it specifies the prostitute's state of health.

It also commits the government agencies to set policies which lead to the sexual workers' social reintegration and into the labor force.

The proposed legislation would make the Government responsible for building houses or designate appropriate places to lodge female prostitutes and guarantee their personal security and health.

It notes that sexual workers ply their services next work centers, streets and avenues, where they don't set a good example for society.

If voted into Law, Minyetti's legislation would fine the sexual workers who don't adhere to its norms, an amount of not more than two minimum wages.

What bus companies can I get a round trip from Sosua to Santo Domingo? How long is the trip and how much would it cost?

What bus companies can I get a round trip from Sosua to Santo Domingo? How long is the trip and how much would it cost?Caribe Tours (terminus in Las Charamicos, Sosúa) and Metro (terminus in El Batéwhy, Sosua). Little to choose between them for comfort (both good) and price. Departure times and location of terminuses at both ends might decide the choice for you.

What do you mean by a round trip? Same day return is out of the question, it's a five hour trip one way. If you mean a discount for booking a return, I don't think they do that (but I stand to be corrected), and you might want to leave your return flexible anyway (unless you are booking on a national holiday when buses can fill up quickly).

Price: I am guessing 500 pesos one way. I am sure someone will chip in with more accurate info but it is certainly very cheap.

To threadjack, I always feel these two bus companies are among the very few First World standard entities in the DR although they operate at Third World prices. Anybody got any other suggestions?

What is not First World standard is the dumbass auto-correct feature on this board. Is there any way I can turn it off when posting?

Took the road from Santo Domingo to Sosua 3. 5 hrs from SDQ Airport to downtown Sosua. Very easy ride with light traffic. Make sure to buy gas before you get on highway near airport, there are No GAS STATIONS (75 miles) before you get to Nagua.

Hi people, I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere in this site I just can't find recent info.

I've been to Cuba and from what I'm reading it has changed immensly from how it used to be, crackdown on chicas police etc (though I loved every minute of it and would definitly go again). I don't really go for high class pros. For example in Habana I hung out with normal girls (I assumeD they were) who took me out and we partied hard no favours passed between us.

What would you say is the main difference are:

Is DR more expensive but you have more choice in terms of chicas?

From some threads there are issues with weapons, do a lot of people carry guns and is crime in some areas rife?

One thing that seems to be a large difference is that in Cuba there are numerous casa particular does DR have anything similar to this in terms of alternative accomodation to hotels and I don't mean the cabanas.

When in Cuba I didn't witness any crime though it exists everywhere I know, what areas are no go areas in DR? I saw a short video where 2 guys filmed a murder can't remember where though.

Which of these areas would be described as the best places in terms of the quality of the chicas:. Sosua, Puerto Plata, Santa Domingo or Boca Chica?

The chances of a regular guy getting some action with a non pro girl is it difficult with basic spanish language skills?

I'd be grateful for any replies.

Thanks

I just tried to book two rooms at the New Garden for the week of July 11th. 15th and several of the days (weekdays in JULY) they were sold out. Yeah, Sosua is dying allright as I'm sure it's the locals that booked all those rooms.

The chances of a regular guy getting some action with a non pro girl is it difficult with basic spanish language skills?I cannot compare Cuba with the DR as I have never been to the former, but can address this question. I speak basic Spanish. I have spoken it since high school, but primarily use the present indicative, imperfect, regular preterit, conditional, and future tenses. They are all far easier than English. If you have at least a week to kill and can hold real conversations in basic Spanish, then you can meet and date a non-pro. You can certainly do so in Santo Domingo. The girls that I met spoke NO English, and I mean NO English. We visited historical sites, went to the mall, and things like that. It did not cost any real money. For example, the mall date was less than USD $10 total, and that included the cab home as the buses stopped running. Forget about Sosua, as I have yet to meet a true non-pro there. You will need game, and the ability to explain why you are in DR. I was "interviewing for a teaching job."

I had not used my Claro DR sim card in over 4 months, no problem, I just had to add minutes, which the chica at the claro shop in the airport did for me and I had the same cell number, no problems. There is no reason to lose your number. You can use https://www.etopuponline.com/beta/ To add time to your cell in various countries so you will not have to worry about getting a new SIM and a new number when you return. I'm not sure what the cutoff is but if we use Jao's 4 month hiatus as a reference you can put $5 on your phone every 4 months to save your number.

For Claro: Min. Amount: 5 USD Max. Amount: 30 USD Fee: 0 USD

For Orange: Only fixed amounts allowed: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 USD Fee: 0 USD

I will make every effort not to fly Spirit again!I remember when they first came up with the baggage charge. Their reason was to keep costs down. Yeah right. All they have done is keep upping the ticket prices, and on the last 6 flights I took it was a full plane. When oil was around $116 a barrel they upped the fare. Now it is around $95 a barrel, but the fares did not go down.

Aires was their rival in a lot of latin America citys, but I think they have gotten rid of a lot of routes so Spirit took advantage of the gap.
BTW I don't know who is worse, the airlines or the taxes the countrys are now increasing all the time. You have to pay over $30 to leave Peru, and to get into the DR ,and Nicaragua it cost you $10. This is above all the taxes you pay when you buy the ticket.

I was told recently that with Orange cell phones in DR, if a person has their Orange cell off, voice messages and text messages cannot be sent to that person's orange cell. With Claro, voice messages and text messages can be sent to a Claro cell phone that is turned off.

I have never received a message with Claro saying the cell number cannot be reached, as I have many times when calling Orange cell phones.

I have few questions:

When is the best time to buy a flight ticket from the US?

(Last minute. 2 weeks in advance or 2 month in advance)

Should I bring Condoms from home or one can find quality brands in the local pharmacies?

Any suggestions regarding any items to bring from the US to make my vacation more enjoyable are most welcome.

ThanksSometimes AA Advantage has super saver weekend getaway fares available a week before travel. There is no particular advantage in booking early and sometimes you can get a real bargain by booking late. A large part of the price is the taxes anyway.

Bring you own condoms, as they are better and cheaper in the US, also you may not be able to find the Super Jumbeau Grandes that most ISG mongers need.

Bring shorts, beach towel, swim trunks, favorite type of tea or coffee if required, money (lots of) , netbook or tablet with wifi if you have one, lightweight clothing, shoes. I find a pair of crocs sandals are very useful as they are very light and can be worn at the beach, pool, and also to walk around town and it is very easy to rinse off sand from the beach, dry them when wet, and they are comfortable to walk on the very rough sidewalks here, use them indooors, etc. Etc. Sneakers can easily get hot, sweaty, and smelly here due to heat and humidity. Sport socks, so your feet don't get blistered.

Long pants are better for evening wear. Of course you can wear what you want, but chicas are very quick to sum people up by their appearance, so if you look kind of vaguely managerial by Dominican standards, you may get more respect and attention, although these things don't matter a lot as everyone has their own style.

You may wish to bring some kind of hat for the sun, or sunblock lotion if exposure to sun is a problem for you. Also hydrocortisone cream for sunburn or insect bites is useful and is much more expensive to buy in Sousa than in dollar store or Walmart.

Really just bring the same stuff you would for a weekend at the beach in the US.

Really just bring the same stuff you would for a weekend at the beach in the US.Thanks Frannie for the great advises.

The AA saver last minute deal sounds great, I am flying From ORD and I found an AA ticket for $312 not including taxes. I am not sure how low it can go.

Regarding the condoms I am not familiarized with the Super Jumbeau Grandes what is the brand name in English?

I am planning a DR vacation for a week during September.

ThanksJust about always last minute prices are high for airplane tickets. Book midweek, like on a Tuesday and sometimes the prices are lower. Jetblue currently has the most flights into DR.

Bring insect repellant, sunscreen if the sun burns your skin, immodium for diarrhea. Bring your own condoms. Hershey chocolates are good to have in the room to feed the chicas. This past trip I had terrible heartburn after using LaPela (generic cialis) , not sure if the LaPela caused the hearturn, but I wish I had some Prilosec (over the counter medicine for heart burn). I usually buy the name brand Cialis (by Lilly) , but the pharmacy in santo domingo wanted me to buy a 4 pack, which I didn't want. So I bought 4 LaPela for 200 pesos (50 pesos each). I think in the future I will stick with the name brand Cialis. The heartburn (acid reflux) I had after using the LaPela, woke me up at night, I don't want that again.

There are online sites that track airplane rates and give predictions as to whether they believe the prices will go up or down. During major holidays the rates are higher. Before winter high season, in the Fall, rates are usually less.

I was also thinking drinks or food were responsible but I also drink and eat at home.It is a known side effect of tadalafil that it may cause back ache. A bottle of pink bismuth (Pepto bismol) is always useful, because it can be used both as an antacid and as an antidiarrheal, and it is cheap if you buy the generic. Is also available in the DR.

Tadalafil. Oral, Cialis

SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, stomach upset, back pain, muscle pain, nasal stuffiness, flushing, pain in arms or legs, dizziness, or vision changes may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

I was also thinking drinks or food were responsible but I also drink and eat at home. These pills work by opening the blood vessels in the penis, so the penis can more easily get engorged with blood and thus erect. Maybe lapela has an effect on the opening of the esophagus into the stomach, causing that opening to open more and allowing acid from the stomach to enter the esophagus (acid reflux, heartburn).

I agree with you, I have not had the acid reflux reaction when I took Cialis made by Lilly.

If I bring some of my own meds, which I don't have a script for, do I have to worry about customs when I enter the DR? Or is customs a joke like some places I know?In the DR you need a prescription for pain killer type medications. If you are bringing a bunch of oxycontin pills into the DR, I would advise you, to get a prescription from your doctor for those type of pills. Non-pain killer type drugs, crestor, lipitor etc, I wouldn't worry about. Customs in DR just about never checks luggage, but you may not want to be the guy they check and they find a bunch of pain killing drugs in your luggage, with no prescription.

Non-pain killing type medication, usually can be easily bought in DR pharmacies without a prescription.

Thanks fos some infoYou can buy the chip from Claro, just take your USB pen there and ask. Prepaid unlimited internet service is available for one month or longer only. The service is louzy, expect to load one window at a time or it crashes. Some rare days it ran smooth, but eventually you'll get used to it and figure out it's better than no internet at all. I paid DP 2000 for the USB, chip, and unlimited service for one month. They also charged me DP 560 in taxes on top which was ridiculous. Can't tell you what just the chip would cost.

I know some guys fly with their miles on some airlines and some enjoy having a status with a particular airline, so they get bumped into business class, from economy.

Various news outlets reported on this recently, from the WSJ:

"At least several hundred mile-junkies discovered that a free shipping offer on presidential and Native American $1 coins, sold at face value by the USA Mint, amounted to printing free frequent-flier miles. Mileage lovers ordered more than $1 million in coins until the Mint started identifying them and cutting them off.

Coin buyers charged the purchases, sold in boxes of 250 coins, to a credit card that offers frequent-flier mile awards, then took the shipments straight to the bank. They then used the coins they deposited to pay their credit-card bills. Their only cost: the car trip to make the deposit.

The coin program was a popular play on FlyerTalk. Com, an online community where frequent travelers and mileage mavens share travel tips and profitable mileage plays. One FlyerTalker, identified by his online moniker, Mr. Pickles, claims to have bought $800, 000 in coins. He posted pictures of the loot on FlyerTalk.

He says his largest single deposit was $70, 000 in $1 coins. He used several banks and numerous credit cards. He earned enough miles to put him over two million total at AMR Corp. 's American Airlines, giving him lifetime platinum-elite status. Early availability of upgrades for life and other perks on American and its partners around the world. He also pumped miles into his account at UAL Corp. 's United Airlines and points into his Starwood Preferred Guest program account."

A bottle of baileys at the airport duty free, $20US or less.

A bottle of beer in a nice bar, starting around 100 pesos to 250 pesos (250 pesos for a small bottle of beer at the Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo).

Santo Domingo- The carriers Air France and Jet Blue asked the police and the Las Americas International Airport's security department to halt the theft of their passengers' luggage in the last few weeks.

Air France's manager resigned from that post yesterday, after the Police Investigations Department interrogated around 14 airport employees about the theft of several types of merchandise from French airplanes.

Sales and Customer Service manager Maria Esther Callega, quoted by news source listin. Com. Do, said the airlines were concerned with the theft of objects and precious jewels from their airplanes, which they sell to passengers.

She said the pilfering almost always occurs during the cleaning of the planes, but denied that Air France employees were involved in the robberies.

Last week Jet Blue made a similar request in the wake of complaints from dozens of passengers that their luggage was violated and their belongings stolen.

Both companies sent letters to Airports Department director Arístides Fernandez Zucco complaining of the lack of security and increasing thievery in and around the airport during the last few days.

The wave of thefts has also reached the terminal's perimeter, a section of which was carted away by unidentified burglars.

Scary thing, if they have easy access to steal things from checked luggage, they probably have easy access to plant things in checked luggage for outbound flights.

"Thieves haul away perimeter fence at Las Americas Airport. Unidentified burglars have dismantled the Las Americas International Airport's perimeter fence next to the town La Calera, despite being an area patrolled by Airport Security (Cesa) agents.

An investigation is underway to find the thieves who carted away 157 fence posts and the cyclone fence, which was cut to sell as scrap metal, while a sentry post was erected halt further pilfering.

A source close to the investigation quoted by diairolibre. Com said the section of the fence stolen cost around Road$1. 5 million, and presumably hauled away using a heavy vehicle.

The section of the stolen fence is adjacent to the Caucedo Multimodal Port, and the gapping hole poses a danger to aviation security, especially to planes which remain on the airport tarmac."

Generally speaking, for Sosua, everything is within walking distance. A taxi from the puerto plata airport to sosua. 10-15 minute ride, usually around $20-$25US, some hotels offer free airport pickup (Rockys used to provide free airport pickup).

Santo Domingo airport to the city, most taxi drivers will ask for $40US. A2B offers shared transfers for around $16US. Santo Domingo airport to boca chica, should be $20US or less (10 minute drive). In Santo Domingo numerous venues are within walking distance of guest friendly hotels. Some venues are further away from the hotels and would require you to take a taxi, taxi fares from most hotels to say a venue like GBP, will be 200 pesos or less, each way.

Puerto Plata airport to the city of Puerto Plata and to Blackbeards, I don't know the current taxi rates.

Tropical fruits are usually relatively inexpensive in DR (mango, papaya-lechosa, chinola-passion fruit, pineapple-pina, etc). You can buy them from some street vendors.

Be careful, because Cholera exists in DR. Some inexpensive food places may not have the best sanitary conditions.

OK, first of all, I do want to screw several DR women, and if I see a decent Haitian women, I will try them too.

I'm usually traveling in Asia, but I have been to Costa Rica, Mexico, and Puerto Rico (back when all the good clubs were open).

I'll be in the DR 20 Sept-1Oct, and plan time in Sosua and Santo Domingo.

I was looking at the visa requirements and saw they let Thai people go there rather easily, and Turkish people (I've been there too). And I read about Chinese people in the DR.

So. The question is, what other types of ladies can be found for P4P? Any Asian, Europeans, South or Central Americans?

Where would be the best area to find them?

Thanks

Dollhouse on the malecon in Santo Domingo, I have read has women from Colombia and other countries.

Manizales just wrote a review of some expensive strip club in Cabarete (10 minutes from Sosua) , that has Russian chicas.

Pink Pony in Santo Domingo advertises they have a few chicas from Japan. I have seen at least one Asian chica in Pink Pony, when I visited.

Some DR chicas have Asian features in their faces. Sexo Urbano show on HBO featured one chica who works in santo domingo, her name was China and she had some Asian features to her face.

Haitian chicas, more on the north coast and in boca chica.

Some Colombianas in Santo Domingo. Foxys I was told sometimes has Brasileras.

Lighter skin Dominican chicas can more easily be found in the middle part of the country, el cibao; La Vega, Santiago.

Dominican chicas come in all shapes and sizes, from light to dark skin.

A guy who posts on the ISG sometimes, promotes various eastern European chicas, available for takeout in DR.

Years ago, I believe Vikings had Eastern European women. I saw about 4 or 5 of eastern European pros, with their clients, in VooDoo lounge bar in Sosua, one night.

Thanks

There is a medical school in Santo Domingo that has students from many Countries. Boricua Online has posted before that there is a bar near that medical school, where some of the international students hangout. Maybe Boricua Online can re-post the information regarding that bar.

Thanks please help with info. There is already plenty of info available in these forums to help you plan your trip. I'm not speaking from experience but I suspect the adult resorts you mention are not value for money. Just do a bit of research, starting with the Puerto Plata forum, and read previous postings. There is one adult resort mentioned many times which is tailor made for you. Let's see if you can come up with it. Otherwise, pay your subscription, PM me and I'll enlighten you.

Roger Dodger has advised you wisely.

Don't worry, unless you have some unpleasant physical complaint (skin condition, bad breath, incontinent, etc) or never bathe or change your clothes, you won't need any luck with the ladies in the Dominican Republic. Fat guys, butt-ugly guys, near-senile guys (like me) , can all buy a golden ticket, though they may cost a bit more than for the Brad Pitt or Denzel Washington lookalikes who can speak fluent Spanish and dance the local dances expertly.

As Roger Dodger says, there is one adult resort with onsite chicas often discussed in the Puerto Plata section that is fairly priced and about as failsafe as you could reasonably expect. Many of us started our DR mongering careers there. It is the best introduction for the less confident.

I'm not overweight and still have a pulse. So, here is my question:

I like to war shorts. I know it's not part of the culture for adult males here. It also seems that the tourists war long pants, too. Will this be a big issue for me here, other than me sticking out like a tourist more than I already would be?

People will not comment on it and you will find that others in DR will be wearing shorts. People walking to the beach do so with their shorts or swim trunks on.

They prefer older guys before they threat them nicer and provide "a more boyfriend experience (bfe)" than younger guys, most hate to be treated like a puta.

As the guys have said, you will get girls regardless, and most likely we're paying, so for sure you'll get them. But, Dominicans are crazy about style and grooming. If you're looking for more attention, or more respect, wear long pants at night. Button down shirts, or nice T-shirts with designs are also good. When a Dominican sees someone at night with shorts, you stand out as a tourist. Why not add to the girl's attraction to you? The colonge is a must, as has been mentioned. It's funny, but now I'm picking up some Aero clothes for my next trip, and I'm 52! They are cazy about Aeropostale. I couldn't wear that here, but over there, you'll get attention. I've learned over the years to refine my wardrobe, even with a steady girl there, gain the reputation. A 52 year old is not old there. Maximize the GFE experience. Now, like most guy's, I don't shave under my arms, but my girls is insisting on some trimming. I know it gets tough worying about clothes to bring, and having them ironed and all, but it's worth it in the long run, especially if you return. Dress young, with style. Paying or not, the girls love it, and notice.

I think that is was only 35$, but the total is calculated once you are about to finish booking your trip in Orbitz. The only thing that kind of sucks is you have to call them prior to leaving to get your return trip to the airport.

I'm planning to go back to Dominican Republic in February for a week. Sosua was my first trip to DR this summer and I had a lot of fun. For some strange reason most of the chicks I found attractive were from other cities like Santo Domingo. Just wished there was more to do in Sosua during the daytime. I'm trying to decide should I go back to Sosua or visit another city like Santo Domingo or Punta Cana.

Same old, same old, eat, beach, hunt for pussy outside of the confines of the resort, then sleep. Santo Domingo has museums, beaches to the east like Boca Chica and Juan Dolio, mucho chicas, but you got to know where to find action. Easy. There's plenty to do in and around Sosua. Take buses, guaguas to Puerta Plata north, or to Cabarette south. Finding things to do? Get on the internet and do the research. This is a great place to live, and visit. No shit!

If you aren't a boozer or don't have a lot of extra money for activities like scuba golf windsurfing etc. You will feel confined. I would love to bed some DR chicas. Been a while but I can't stomach sosua anymore.

If you have the money to spend I think SD might be an interesting trip. I'd like to do it myself but I am in no way willing to pay those casa prices. I could probably find something but not sure if it's worth all the SD expenses.

Punta Cana would be beautiful but I doubt it would keep you interested for that long.

The best way to do the DR IMHO (I've been told) is by renting a car or going around with guys that do have cars. 4 days here 4 days there. Visit this car wash that colmado on the dirt road. Etc. Etc.

The best time I had in the DR was in 2004 when I went on a half day ATV expedition in the mountains and beach then finished off with a BBQ. PFP was waiting for me at night in cabarete where I used to stay. That costs mucha plata now.

Not enough chicas grow up there to satisfy the thousands of mongers who visit every year. And, of the few that do grow up there, many must go to other towns to sell themselves to avoid the gaze of family and family friends.

Unless you are staying more than two weeks there is plenty to do in and around Sosúa. There is little to do at Punta Cana except have a conventional sun-and-sand holiday or hunt for over-priced pussy off campus. Santo Domingo and Santiago are a different story but you will need some Spanish.

Thanks in advancedSome of the telephone companies (Boost, Metro) have special plans by which you pay $10 per month for unlimited calls to the DR, but only to house phones. There are extra charges for calls made to cell phones, because the cell phone companies in the DR get a cut.

Of course if the person at the other end has a wi-fi capable phone and access to wi-fi (some restaurants have it) , you might be able to make calls without a phone call charge. Also, if the person at the other end has an Internet enabled computer and a Skype account, you can Skype them for free. You can use an Internet cafe in the DR for 60 pesos per hour, so that would be the cost of making video calls.

Thanks in advancedThe Vonage World Plan has unlimited calling to land lines AND cell phones. And the line is crystal clear. If you call a lot like I do it pays for it self rather quickly. You can also register 1 cellphone # "yours" and call a local number and enter your pin. Make the same calls to land lines and cellphones at no charge using your existing vonage account. With taxes and all the other bullshit it comes out to about $70 flat a month.

How long is the drive interms of minutes with the bus company and taxi? How much would a taxi be?Taxi's within Santo Domingo are 200-300 pesos. From the Bus terminal to Sosua is 3. 5 to 4. 5 hours including stops in Santiago. Fewer stops with Metro. Caribe tours lets you off in Charamicos on the road, Metro in Sosua El Batey closer to where you are going. If you have never done it and you have any interest in travel per se it's an interesting bus trip that shows you a slice of the country and embeds you with regular dominican travelers. Modern buses with chilly AC. Watch your stowed luggage. By comparison taking a taxi from SD to Sosua would cost you more than 10x as much with marginal time savings. If you aren't severely pressed for time with a high budget take the bus.

Is there a bus or taxi service if so what would the cost be. Also how do I travel from Sousa back to Santa Domingo and what would the cost be.There are two bus companies that run buses all over the island including SD to Puerto Plata and Sosúa. The buses are fast and comfortable (though some find the aircon a little too chilly). They are Metro and Caribe Tours. Not much difference between them. Which one you take will probably depend on at what time you want to travel and which has the nearer terminus. I think it costs about 350 pesos one way (less than US$10). The trip takes about 4 hours so leave early enough to arrive in daylight.

If you have just a backpack, ask the driver to stop at the entrance road to Costambar and catch a motoconcho (motor-cycle taxi) to Blackbeards (60 pesos). If you have more baggage or are nervous of riding the motoconchos (and who could blame you?) then stay with the bus as far as the Pto Pta bus station and take a taxi back to Costambar and Blackbeards (about 350 pesos).

It's simpler coming back from Sosúa. (You are aware that Blackbeards is about 25 miles from Sosúa, right?). You can board the bus for Santo Domingo at either the Metro terminus in El Batey or the Caribe terminus in Los Charamicos. Cost about 400 pesos.

My Brothers, I have a very strict rule about posting photos of women that I get in contact with. Normally if a woman doesn't ask me for money I will not put her pics on the net. But once she does ask me for money, that means she is open game. The reason for all of this is because I am a member of Tagged (dot) com. This is where you meet pros & non-pros online. I do this to set up my meetings in advance, just like facebook but easier. Well I met this woman a week ago and we chatted a bit online. But the other day she said she had a problem and needed 100 dollars to correct the problem. Now I never met this woman in person, so right away I was pissed that she went there. So I played along and said if you send me a photo of you without cloths on I would send the money via Western Union. When she sent the first photo, I was surprised. So I said, I know you will be asking me for more money in the future. So let's stop playing games. So I asked her how much she really needed. She said she needed 500 dollars. Now remember this is a lady I only met on the internet and only for less than a week. So I said I will send the money if you give me some spread shots. Once again she sent the photos. After I received all the photos, I blocked her from contacting me. I felt bad for about 5 seconds, then I remember one thing. She must have thought I was stupid to be sending her money in the first place. So now she is on my wall of fame. Here are the photos brothers. Enjoy them, if you are interested I do have contact numbers and email address for her in Puerto Plata and Sousa. You are free to have her info just pm me. Signed stupid American!

How long is the drive interms of minutes with the bus company and taxi? How much would a taxi be?I took the Caribe bus from Santo Domingo to Sosua 2 days ago. I didn't keep track of how long it took. I guess it took about 4 hours and 15 minutes. It was 330 pesos. No need to show up an hour early like I did. They did let some locals stop at the the side of the road a few times. I remember a guy about 16 or 17 years old wearing a pink Barbie Dolls backpack on the bus only travel about 20 minutes. I guess his family could only give him a hand me down Barbie Doll backpack, or it's cool or something. I had a suitcase and a backpack, so the mini-van taxi said 200 pesos to go to the New Garden. That sounded OK with me. I could have shared a taxi with some very white people that I think were Russian, but we couldn't understand each other. I guess we ended up within a block from each other. Now if they can't speak English or Spanish, they are kind of screwed here.

You are not stupid, just an asshole.I am a asshole? Wow, I have been fair with everyone I have met. I have respected their wishes and treated them with the highest regard and this goes for pros & non-pros. I have been in this game for a very long time, going back to my days in the military. I was taught this game by a Korean prostitute whom I lived with for 3 year. So when someone disrespects me as a person, then all of this is off the table. I have never underestimated anyone or assumed that they were unintelligent. But respect goes both ways, and for someone to think that I am a Western Union novio that is crossing the line. So I will be a ASSHOLE, but you shouldn't be call a monger.

Now these countries have open borders with one another and a shared currency (except for the British). Dom Rep and Haiti should be able to move on from past hatred for each other and work together to make the whole island a better place to live.

If I do decide to buy an unlocked phone I would like to use it in other countries besides DR like Colombia or Brazil for example. Which phone brand would work in multiple countries? These days any unlocked phone will work anywhere. The last phone I bought in DR was at the Claro place in the grocery store. It was $15. The only reason I had to buy it was because they were out of SIM cards and the only way I could get one was to buy the phone because they come in the same package.

Be careful on ebay. The last phone I bought the seller said it was unlocked but I got it to Thailand and it was indeed locked, so I ended up going to the pawn shop buying one for $30 until Tmobile emailed me the code to unlock it. They said it could be up to 7 days but it was actually that night, so $30 down the drain. I use my old Palm Treo 680 around the world. I like it because it has all the features I need. Keyboard for texting, user-friendly date book. It's just that time I thought I had lost it but it had actually fell out of my bag in the trunk of my car in the USA. http://www.ebay.com/ctg/?_pid=102683876&_trksid=p5197.l1428#

I paid 500 pesos for my phone from a kiosk girl on Calle Duarte in Santo Domingo. All the other stores on the same street were selling similar phones for much more.

The prob is that it is a very cheap phone that can only hold / save ten messages and is very difficult to send texts (no qwerty keyboard). I may get a used unlocked Blackberry soon. In Dr nearly all of the women have Blackberrys, they all love the BBpin feature that allows them to send / receive messages without being charged

So it will cost around $15 us to buy a phone out there?I took Sabor and Gagoo to the Claro office on I believe 30th of March Street (about three blocks north of park independence, near zona colonial, santo domingo). The cheapest cell phone they had last month (September. 2011) was a ZTE cell for around 800 pesos (included 100 pesos in minutes) .800 pesos is about $21US. Gagoo bought a sim card for about 200 pesos. You have to have your passport to buy a cell or a sim card.

The unlocked Nokia cell phones I have bought on Amazon have worked with ATT sim cards here in the states and with Claro sim cards in the Dom Rep.

The inexpensive ZTE cell phone that Claro sells is not very user friendly. Over a year ago I bought a ZTE cell from claro with a sim card and minutes for around 480 pesos. I hate that cell phone, it has a tiny, dark screen, small fonts, I never could figure out to put it into silent mode. Text messaging was a chore on that cell.

Depending on your lifestyle may determine what type of cell to buy. If you like to go out and get drunk while on vacation, may not be such a good idea to have an expensive cell that you might lose while drunk. If you plan on text messaging chicas, then maybe a cell that has a keyboard.

The verbal agreement as you said was initiated by the woman in question. We went from just chatting (me not having any interest) to her asking for $500 dollars. Now if you wish to be her legal representative then so be it. But like I said I normally do not post photos of the woman I get in contact with unless they ask for money, once that understanding has begun they are free game. So your easy solution is stay away from these web sites. Then we would lose half the members here. Remember this is a game we play, winner takes all. Only good energy!Maybe you are right about the winner takes all attitude! But being a decent human being I question that. I don't get caught up in Western values having lived all over the world. We say were one thing, but act different when the time comes. If we all lived by your the morals, we all be married with a white picket fence around our house. Instead of being in different countries looking for women to screw. So my friends you can't have it both ways. So I suggest one thing let's all stop chasing the women and stay in the states this way moral values do not come into play. Also I feel good about myself, it is better than being a hypocrite.

I took Gagoo into the main Claro Shop near park independence and zona colonial, for him to buy a sim card. It took almost an hour with the Claro guy we had. I had a flight later that afternoon, and for whatever reason the guy at the counter could not figure out how to finalize the sale of the sim card. Good to know, that you are not stuck only buying from Claro, Orange or Viva offices.

This applies everywhere? I just can't go into a 7/11 or supermarket and buy a sim card?In Thailand and many other Asian countries I got spoiled by being able to buy SIM cards at 7-Eleven and everywhere else. But this makes it hard to keep in contact with some women because they would change their number so much. Sometimes my plan was to see a normal non-working girl in Thailand, but first I would go to Thailand before I said I was going to arrive, so I would buy a SIM card to use for my mongering, then I'd get a new SIM before I see the normal girl. I'd get rid of my first SIM because I didn't want so many ladies calling or texting me because I wanted the normal girl to think I'm a good boy.

Anyways, Jao took me to a Claro shop and they did require me to have my passport. Jao was nice enough to take me back to my hotel to get my passport real quick. The guy at the Claro shop made it very painful for us, it took him an hour to get me all set-up. All over 200 pesos. Some countries I have been to changed the policy on SIM cards, so you have to show an I'd to buy the SIM. That way you don't buy a SIM and call in bomb threats ect, and they not know who it is. Maybe there are some non-Claro SIM cards available that don't require a Passport. I ran out of cash fast in SDQ, I was somehow thinking Thailand prices or something. Instead of going to the ATM many times I Western Unioned myself $1, 000 USD. It did cost me about $25 though, but I would have done many ATM withdrawals for that and I don't like not having cash. You can Western Union yourself any amount toi the DR via online for just $10 if you are willing to wait 3 business days to pick it up. I mention this because I did a very long walk to a WU place, and they said I needed my passport, my 2 I'd's and MTCN ect was not good enough for them. I would imagine locals don't need a passport.

www.iclarified.com

Gives great details, news and info on other Apple products. It is inconvenient, but I have to take a small SIM card trimmer that looks like a small hole punch. I just put the SIM in there, very accurately placed, and then squeeze, and it is trimmed to the right size. I guess Apple is trying to set the trend for a smaller SIM. The smaller SIM has the same chip and metal contacts, but it gets rid of most of the excess plastic. The hardest part is I needed something small like a paperclip to push in a hole in the phone, I forgot to bring one. It tool me 5 minutes at the front desk of the hotel to get them to understand what I wanted. I said paper clip, clip, and I used my phone on wifi and I translated paperclip to 'clip' and 'sujetapapeles' and they still didn't understand, then I showed them the text, and it took about 1 minute for the security guard to say "cleep". Then I got the paperclip, and everything worked good. My trimmer also included 5 very small trays, so I can but the iPhone 4 micro-SIM into the the tray, then I can put it in an average phone. It's a little of a pain since I try to travel light. I also take my very first original iPhone that is unlocked and I can use that if needed.

The people in Claro said the sim card would not work in Gagoo's iphone (not sure if gagoo was successful in using that sim card in his iphones, gagoo was saying something about having to cut the sim card, I have no clue about iphones).Just the new iPhone 4's and iPhone 4S, and the iPad 2Nd generation-3G use the mirco-SIM. I think there are a couple other phones that use it. The first time when we almost gave up on getting my SIM, the guy forgot to give me my passport, until I asked him for it. The second time we were tired, bored, and in a rush. He forgot to give my passport back to me a 2nd time. They called my new SIM, which wasn't installed yet, then they called the hotel. Once again I had problems talking to the front desk people. I ended up getting it the next day since Claro was about to close. I understand I am the one that needs to learn Spanish, but if I owed a hotel that has quite a few Americanos or other gringos, I'd make sure most of my front desk people could speak English. I had no language problems with the New Garden Hotel in Sosua, I even got the front desk guy to be my phone translator when talking to a chica.

I have read a few times, that ATT will send or give you the unlock code for an ATT cell phone. There are sites on the internet that charge a fee to send an unlock code for a locked cell phone.

Did you unlock the the iphone for ATT for free and how easy is it to do?

Yeah I got it to work, my iPhone for is from AT&T, but I unlocked it. Just as long as the firmware is version isn't the newest it can be unlocked pretty easy.

I'm planning a fifth trip for late Nov / early Dec. The June trip was certainly not my best. Sosua has change and in my opinion & not for the better. Yes, chicas are available and it is still pretty much a 'point & chick' process. Prices were even a little lower. But the atmosphere changed big time. The whole town gave off a sense of desperation. It was always about the money but in the past chicas wanted to party & have a good time. In June the chicas seem to be focusing on only the peso because the source was drying up. I also had other issues; did not have a wingman, made several stupid mistakes, Classicos was raided and closed most of the week, the chica I wifed up with for several days in Nov and again in June took me for several hundred dollars.

So this trip will be a bit different; 4 nights in Sosua and 4 nights at Black Beards. I decided to stay at the NG instead of D'Piero's this trip. The NG being 'party central' should make it easy to hook up with a wingman or two and the location is convenient for ST sessions which will be my primary objective. I have never stayed at BB but it sounds like it might suite my mongering style. Its set up should made it easy to find a chica willing to give up her culo & to fullful my fantasy of spending a night with two interactive chicas. At this point I have not decided where to stay first.

What I would like to know is the cost of a taxi from BB to Sosua & from Sosua to BB. I assume that it is easier to negotiate with the Sosua taxi drivers.

I have read a few times, that ATT will send or give you the unlock code for an ATT cell phone. There are sites on the internet that charge a fee to send an unlock code for a locked cell phone.

Did you unlock the the iphone for ATT for free and how easy is it to do?I think ATT will do it under certain conditions, like you moved out of the US, and maybe if you finished your 2 year contract. Other companies can do it too, or there is a special modified tray that you put your SIM in to it, and then you put that inside your phone. It's like a super small circuit board that still fits in your phone along with your SIM (it's that thin.) I'm not sure if they can do that with an iPhone 4 (micro-SIM) , but on other phones you can.

I unlocked it myself, but I have to keep the older iPhone 4 modem software (baseband) on it. If you keep updating your iPhone to the latest firmwares Apple will keep fixing their security flaws and make it so you can't unlock it until the hackers come back with a way to unlock it again. It's like a game almost. Apple doesn't want you to modify your phone, and hackers find a way to hack it, then Apple makes a new firmware with nice features you want, and Apple fixes things so your current way of jailbreaking or unlocking won't work anymore. Jailbreaking an iPhone means you opened up the software on the phone so you can put other companies programs on it and Apple doesn't like it because Apple won't get their cut. Also Apple doesn't want you to put certain programs on your phone, like say maybe a sex game or something like that. If you jailbreak your phone you can use Apple approved software and anything else. Unlocked means you can put any SIM in the phone and make calls. So jailbreak and unlock are different. If you put the latest operating system (firmware) on the phone it can be jailbroken now, but you can't unlock it. If you bought an iPhone you would have to make sure it has an old baseband (modem firmware) on it. Otherwise you can't unlock it, you can only jailbreak it.

In this picture you can see my modem firmware on the bottom, also called baseband buy some people, and on the top you can see my version 4. 2.1, which is normally called firmware or IOS version. On an iPhone 4, right now only my Modem firmware 01. 59. 00 can be unlocked, all operating system versions can be Jailbroken for now, even the new 5. 0. The newest iPhone 4S cannot be unlocked yet, just jailbroken.

And lastly, you can buy a factory unlocked phone, but really it is a phone that was never locked in the first place, so it isn't unlocked, it's an open phone. A factory unlocked iPhone costs about an extra $200 or so used, and more if new. But it will never be locked. But you still have to jailbreak it if you want to add non-Apple approved software. The iPhone really is like a small computer, so imagine you have a computer and you can't put any software you want on it, you have to only use Apple approved software on it, and most of it isn't free. It would suck if I couldn't install the free programs or anything I wanted on my desktop or laptop computers. The first guy to unlock an iPhone got in trouble and sued by Sony because he hacked a Sony PS3 to be able to do what you wanted on it. The PS3 and Xbox are really just computers also, but Sony and Microsoft don't want you do anything you like on their system. They want you to buy their games, use their network ect. The iclarified site gives the latest news and step-by-step instructions to unlock or jailbreak am iPhone. There is a big following of people that like to unlock or modify their Google Droid phones. I don't think they call it jaibreak, they like to call it rooting. As in getting to the root control of the operating system, then they can modify the phone (small computer) as they like.

Oh, and my last lastly. When an operating system is very new, like the iPhone 5. 0 that just came out yesterday, you can jailbreak it, but. If U-turned your phone completely off, you will only be able to start up your phone completely if it is hooked up to your computer. That is called a tethered jailbreak. It could be weeks or months before the genius hackers find a way to beat the new operating system and make it so it is an untethered jailbreak.

I tried to make it as simple as I could. Hopefully that helps. If you want to buy an iPhone I could make sure it is able to be unlocked first.

In this pic you can see my Modem firmware on the bottom and version on the top. The other info is unique to your phone, so it's not a good idea to share it.

Did you unlock the the iphone for ATT for free and how easy is it to do?Oh, and the biggest reason why a company like ATT locks their phone is for like when I bought my phone from them, I think I paid $199 or $299. I can't remember. But ATT actually buys it from Apple for maybe $500. ATT makes the contract so you use your expensive iPhone data plan, mine is the old $30 a month for unlimited data. Then I still need to pay my regular monthly bill. So after you doing that for 2 years, ATT would make a nice profit off of you. If you cancel before the end of 2 years you would pay a hefty cancellation fee. So that is why ATT wants their phone locked so you can only use ATT.

ATT sells $10US go phone (prepaid) cell phones at Walmart (GSM and they take sim cards). Unlocking one of these $10US phones to use in DR with a claro, orange or viva sim card, could be an option. If I lose it or it gets stolen, a $10US ATT cell and a 200 peso sim card, would not be a great loss.

The guy on this page lists three free sites that can give unlock codes: "3 Sites To Find Free Unlocking Codes For Mobile Phones": http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/3-sites-to-find-free-unlocking-codes-for-mobile-phones/

Just a random question.

Just wondering what are the different types of chicas that folks on here run into does not matter if she's a pro, semi, non pro? (Crazy, violent, nice, thief, drug user, liar, ect)

The reason I ask because I have a Dominican friend and I told him I went to DR this year and going back next year. He told me to be careful of the mafia chicas. I wouldn't know if I was dealing with a mafia chica unless someone else tell me she was.

It's probably easy to tell if a chica is nice or crazy. What signs should I look out for and how to deal with that particular chica?

What signs should I look out for and how to deal with that particular chica?Dominicans use the word "mafioso" to describe anyone that would screw you over any way they can, a dishonest person that is not above stealing from you or worse. Use the same criteria you would use anywhere in the world to look for signs of a bad apple. If you don't know what to look for then I suggest you either stay home or travel with someone that does, it really isn't that hard but if you are clueless trouble could find you in a hurry. I'm not suggesting the DR is dangerous, generally it isn't, but it is a third world country with a lot of desperate people and they know how to spot a person who would be a good target.

Moto (50 pesos) , J-C (35 pesos) , PtoPta-Sosúa (45 pesos) : total 130 pesos Taxi from Costambar to Sosúa at least 1200 pesos, maybe they would ask 1500.

Ride the J-C to the hospital. Next to the hospital is the parada (terminus) for the Sosúa publicos so you can sit in the first one until it leaves (rarely more than 10 minutes wait).

If I remember correctly the only time I went from Sosua to BB's it was about 1200 pesos I think.Sounds about right. As ever, you can halve the fare by negotiating sole use of a publico (use it as your private taxi). They would take you to Costambar for 600 pesos. Not sure if they are allowed inside the gated area, though, so you may or may not need to take a moto from the gate to Blackbeards.

Alternatively you could reverse the procedure that Professor 1 suggested and do it all for 130 pesos.

Note that the leg using the J-C publico won't work after about 8. 00pm as they stop running around then.

Restaurants that hopefully don't cut corners on sanitation, should be patronized.

Even if some street food doesn't give you Cholera, some might mess up a person's stomach requiring extended trips to the toilet.

In Villa Mella, Santo Domingo, there are recommended street fried food places. The very small food place next door to mystik (next to the colmado) has gotten good reviews, the mystik restaurant has gotten good reviews from Alex Deuce. D' Luis Parrilada on the malecon is usually OK. In Santiago there are numerous empanada food carts on the sidewalks. Some large supermarkets in DR have hot food for sale, some get good reviews. Provecon (sp?) in Puerto Plata near the University, I read, may be good.

At playa rincon in samana, beach shack BBQ pit type restaurant (no running water) , they gutted a grouper fish (Mero in Spanish) in front of me and cooked it on the pit. Best piece of fish I ever tasted. Mr Gogo got good beach food, I believe at Rio San Juan.

On the roads and highways you will see various things for sale to eat (spiny lobsters when heading to the santo domingo airport, freshwater fish when driving to Santiago). If you meet people who have family or friends who live on a finca (farm) in the campo (countryside) , free range chicken from a family farm in the campo is supposedly very good (they kill the chicken in front of you and pluck the feathers and cook the chicken outside with wood). Fincas usually have lots of different tropical fruits, that you can pick yourself. Pineapple is usually very good in DR, there are other tropical fruits you can try either whole or as a fresh juice (papaya, passion fruit, oranges etc).

Sancocho is a soup that can take hours to make. At Christmas time they make a sweet bean dish.

Especially Boca Chica at the weekends, but everywhere. Often fast food merchants just set up wherever there is a vacant lot and a streetlight. Also some colmados have plates of food available. I have eaten all kinds of stuff and never got sick. Everything from chimichanga to chicken to roast pork sandwiches to fish to empanadas to hamburguesas, dulce de coco and fruit salad. I have never gotten sick. Even street vendors know something about hygiene and usually wear those disposable plastic gloves.

The person who describes a violent illness in another post here may have eaten toxic shellfish. I would avoid shellfish.

I would be careful not to eat any food from the street vendors, especially food items that weren't cooked under high temps. That usually kills any germs provided the vendor is clean.

If you are vacationing for a week or less why take the chance of being sick for most of your trip? I got sick once after eating boiled corn, threw up and had to stay in for three days. I still had to visit my physician when I got back who prescribed either antibiotics or a muscle relaxer, don't remember.

If you must, stay with well cooked meat like BBQ or make sure that you aren't eating days old food.

Eating sandwiches (bad meat, cheeze, and lettuce), anything that could be a week old, or wasn't properly cooked, you're asking for trouble.

I would be careful not to eat any food from the street vendors, especially food items that weren't cooked under high temps. That usually kills any germs provided the vendor is clean.

How well central air systems are cleaned and maintained, I don't know (hotels and airplanes).

Here's a question for the more technically minded.

I have a wireless hot spot device that can serve several devices, and I also have an unlocked AT&T (Sierra) dongle-style wireless modem that requires a SIM card to receive an Internet signal that can be used with the hot-spot. This combination should enable me to use my iPod touch as a Skype phone.

Question: In the DR is it possible to buy an Internet only SIM card? If so what is approximate cost per month? If not, is it possible to use the SIM card from any Internet enabled smart phone for the same purpose? Any ideas from anyone who has done this?

Any ideas from anyone who has done this?Last January I have bought a SIM card (USB) connector for Internet for a Novia, as I didn't wanted to end up with a huge bill on my credit card after I had left the country, bought per minutes Internet, if you are able to read Spanish here is the web link.

http://www.orange.com.do/web/guest/3g

Although the chica is now married and live in Canada." She keep contact". The card is still used as I receive from time to time e-mail from Orange stating $0. 00 balance due.

Took the time to look further to the Orange Cell. Web-site. As it could be of public interest decided to post instead of sending you a PM.

Below you will find the exact page for the usb connector. (the sim card is inside)

The one I bought was the ZTE MF637 USB. The one on top left. I payed around the amount stated $1, 590 pesos ($42. 00)

This is the cheaper model you can by for prepaid, the other one on the bottom right is $3, 790 Pesos. $99. 00.

As said these are pre-paid (prepago) , for the other one you would need to take a Multi-years contract like here.

Afterward either I was refilling it from Home, or the Chica was buying minutes by herself. She was residing in Cabarete,

Near Sosua. The connection was good even though her place was all cement walls. May be because there was a Orange.

Cell tower near her place, as her sister was using Claro (other cell company and the reception was shitty at the least)

On many occasion we were communicating via Video trough MSN,

If you go by yourself, they may refuse to sell it to you, as you are not DR citizen, nor reside there. But if you show to the.

Store with a Chica and claim that you are buying it for her, then they will usually sell it.

I have 3 months until my trip to Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo. I been studying Spanish off and on for over 4 months now. I know some words, basic questions, and comments. The only problem I'm having now is I can understand Spanish better when I read it than I listen to it or try speak it.

I know 3 months is not enough time to be able to have a decent conversation with a person from DR. Will I be able to get buy not knowing much Spanish? What Spanish words should I know?

Thanks

ThanksYou can learn a lot in three months. Just focus on basic conversational phrases. Reading, speaking, and understanding are three different skills that involve different organs and different parts of the brain, so no surprise there. The key is repetition, repetition, repetition. If you have an iPhone or IPod there is an excellent Google translator program. You can say something in English and it will write it and say it back to you in Spanish.

I had 8 weeks Spanish when I first went to the DR 8 years ago. Fairly fluent now. To start with:

20 most common adjectives: fast / slow, hot / cold, big / small, pretty / ugly etc.

20 most common verbs: go, come, stop, give, have, eat, drink, fetch, write, pay, fuck, suck, speak, call, listen, run, walk, etc.

12 most common prepositions: by, with, from, for, to, on, in, above, under, opposite, etc.

Most common colors: black, white, brown, red, blue, yellow, green, pink, blue, silver, blonde.

Numbers from 1 to 1000.

Please, thank you, excuse me, Hello, good morning, afternoon, night.

Food: hamburger, salad, french fries, beer, wine, coffee, eggs, bacon, toast, jam, pork, beef, chicken, bread, milk, ham, cheese. Or whatever you like to eat.

Nouns: I would not bother much with them as they are the least of your problems and you can always point or gesticulate. Many common nouns are similar to English, e. G, hotel, airport, taxi, penicillin, clinic, cafe, restaurant, tomatoes, bus, automobile, motorbike, bank, bathroom, kitchen, fridge, stove, pharmacy, pizza, spaghetti, cat, computer, radio, music, TV.

You can learn a few common words like perro (dog) dios (God), casa (house), mesa (table), agua (water), inodoro (toilet), calle (street), dinero (money) as these will probably come in useful.

Keep plugging away for 3 months. While speaking fluent Spanish would enhance your trip a lot, even a handful of words and phrases will help. I would give first priority to learning to speak (and more importantly recognize when spoken) the numerals. This could save you money and spare unpleasant misunderstandings over prices.

ThanksMake sure you are at least learning latino spanish and NOT Spanish from Spain. Unfortunately Dominican Spanish is some of the worst sounding Spanish you can ever learn (along with Cuban and Puerto Rican) , it is full of slang and words that only exist on that island. Try asking any bar person for a gaseosa or telling a motoconcho driver to watch out for that Hueco, get ready for a dumbfounded look.

Hello fellow mongers. I'm new to the international mongering scene and would like to plan my first mongering trip to the DR. I've noticed from the photo gallery that most of the girls are dark skinned. Is that a good representation of what kind of girls I can expect? It's just that my personal preference is lighter skinned girls. So I'm wondering if most girls there are darker skinned. Or are certain cities in the DR more populated with lighter / darker skinned girls? Which city in the DR would be the best to find thin lighter skinned girls, whether they be pro or non-pro?

Santiago is decent for lighter skinned girls but if that's your preference you won't be as in love with the place as those of us who prefer morenas and haitianas. I think the board is a good sample of DR chicas. You can also check out dominicancupid. DR is darker than CR, Columbia, Brazil, much darker than Argentina. Obviously eastern europe and Russia are the motherland for accessible chicas of that subspecies.

As Jaosousa says, the FSU is the motherlode for light-skinned women. I would suggest Ukraine or Riga for starters.

If you don't fancy, or cannot afford, Europe, then try Colombia or Argentina. Light-skinned putas command a premium in the DR as most rich Dominicans are racists and half of overseas visitors are too, so what you save on travel you will lose on puta prices.

Frannie, are you a native speaker? I am not either but "perrito" means doggy style sex in some places (in other places could be "poneme en cuatro," "cuatro patas") and normally does not mean a puppy, which is "cachorro." Otherwise in my experience "perrito" is a chihuahua or similar ankle biting little dog like a pomeranian or toy poodle. "Caniche" translates to "poodle" but is often used to refer to a small adult dog of any breed, in my part of the Spanish-speaking world.

-ito or -ita does make any noun smaller (diminutivos) but can also be used in a pejorative or derogatory manner to make something less important, such as "problemita." Similarly -on, -ona, -ote, make any noun bigger ("aumentativos") but can be dangerous and insulting such as "huevon" and "preguntona" (no seas preguntona = mind your own business). Or "cabrón" which would be literally a large male goat vs. a normal goat but that ain't exactly what a native Spanish speaker will mean when they say that!

If a mouse runs through your kitchen and you don't like it but don't want to insult your host, you could use "laucha" which would distinguish it from a rat.

I travel to the DR for the dark skin hot blooded chicas! When I want light skin ladies, I head to Thailand, Japan, or other places in SEA. I would go with the previous recommendation; Columbia or Cost Rica if you want light skinned chicas.

Damn! What a let down. She said most Dominicans use a lot of slang and you will be judged by it when you travel to other Spanish speaking countries. Something as simple as using the "TU", which is informal verses "usted" which shows respect, especially when dealing with older Spanish women.

She is constantly correcting me even though she says she understood what I was saying. She said I sound like a gringo speaking Spanish. Duh! I am a gringo speaking Spanish, but I also understand she doesn't want me abuse her native tongue.

Cachorro means something more like "cub" and can in fact be used to refer to any baby animal, be it cat, dog, or elephant. So perrito is the closest word to the English puppy and gatito for kitten.

My wife refers to the goldfish in our tank as pesescitos, which would distinguish them from pesces which would be more of an edible size. Pescado is the word for fish that you eat, rather like we say pork and not pig when talking about what the Germans call schweinfleisch (literally swine flesh, which sounds really disgusting.)

Really you cannot always translate one language to another exactly word for word, because they have different concepts. That is why translating the English world "for" into Spanish is so tricky, as it might be either "por" or "para" (or even something else) according to some differentiations that make sense to Spanish speakers, but not so much to us, so we just have to learn by copying what they say.

Of course everything is usage and spoken Spanish may vary a great deal between different countries of Central America, South America, and Spain (where they lithp a lot).

However, none of this matters a great deal to the person who wants to know some Spanish for a first trip to the DR, because the most important thing is simply to be understood and able to form friendly relationships with potential partners, and no matter how bad your Spanish, it will be better than their English.

PS We have a chihuahua (female) and she goes by both perra and perrita (but never perro). Since her name is La Princesa Diana, it is perfectly proper to say that Princess Diana is a *****. When Princess Diana was in the DR in the summer she was acting "muy puta" according to my wife, and had to have a hysterectomy on her return to the US.

Allthe bestWhat is a Cuba girl experience?

La Romana is a nice town, there is an expensive pay for play venue called Klimax in la romana, fine chicas the two times I visited, over a year ago, asking prices over $100US. Deseo and Le Pusse Car Wash are two other pay for play venues in La Romana, I did not visit.

Non-Pro, Semi-pro chicas hang out in the local bars; profesionales, fashion, marinellys, urban and tony are the bars I visited. Urban has big ass bartenders that stand on plastic crates so their "assets" can be seen above the bar. Large bottles of presidente beer for about $2US with plastic cups, some bartenders will come and grind you for a song or two. Bayahibe is a small town about 15 minutes from la romana. Higuey would be about a 45 minute drive from la romana. La Romana from the santo domingo airport is over an hour.

Many guys like Boca Chica. I did 4-5 trips to boca and visited the place after that and I have no desire to revisit boca. Talent can be found in boca chica. Security in boca; don't get drunk, don't pay any chica beforehand, lock your valuables in the room safe, stay in a recommended hotel (el candil, costalunga and others) and you should have no trouble. Among my first trips to DR was boca, ten years ago, I walked around late at night and no one bothered me. I have not hung out at night in boca chica in more than 5 years, so I have no clue how it is now. Boca Chica is ten minutes from the santo domingo airport.

Jetblue has non-stop flights from New York JFK airport to La Romana Airport (LRM) , two days per week.

my wife brought the dog home from her work in a cardboard box and it was about 8 weeks old and about the size of a small rat. i could hold it in the palm of one hand, and it was shaking with fear, and i asked her what we should call it, and she said "diana, porque es como una princesa" which struck me as funny as the poor little thing was so pathetic, so that was how she got her name. however when i took the dog with me to an auto repair shop to get my a / see fixed there was a big red pit bull there and it put its nose under her tail, and she growled at him and said: "don't you put your nose under my tail. you are a common dog and i am a princess, so dream on." i never was close to a chihuahua before, but they are fun dogs and perfect for golf ball retrieval and mail man alerts.

I have been searching the internet looking for one place where all mongering options in the DR are gathered. I found the following website the most complete, but I wonder how up-to-date it is: http://www.sexcation-review.com/Travel-Caribbean-DR.html. Comments, please

I'm not sure why you would consider the DR if you don't prefer dark skinned chicas. I travel to the DR for the dark skin hot blooded chicas! When I want light skin ladies, I head to Thailand, Japan, or other places in SEA. I would go with the previous recommendation; Columbia or Cost Rica if you want light skinned chicas. So all the girls there are basically black? I've noticed that they are very dark in the photos. I have to go there for a wedding soon, I love latin girls for sure but there is a level where they are just too dark for my liking. They have to have silky hair like a asian with a nice booty that's the perfect match. Is that not possible in DR? In Costa Rica and Philippines you can pretty much find anything I was assuming it would be same in DR, maybe a Russian or two, maybe an asian or two. Do they get lighter the further away from Haiti you go?

Barack O'Barker would be a good name for a dog.

Do you watch baseball? Nelson Cruz, Adrian Beltre, Nefti Feliz, so black if they went to night school they would get marked absent. OTOH Luis Pujols, Rafael Furcal, not so much. David Ortíz is pretty black too. The Braves used to have a shortstop from the DR who was part Asian. Can't remember his name. Good field no hit. My African American roommate at the time called him a Bro-riental. Any place you have a coastline you will get some Asian DNA squirting its way in. But it's a predominately black country just like all of the Caribbean.

So all the girls there are basically black?Only if you observe the "One Drop" rule. The Dominicans have their own version of the "One Drop" rule but it works the other way round.

Do they get lighter the further away from Haiti you go?No, not really. The biggest community of Haitians (a third of a million) is in the capital which is halfway across the country from the border. And for many generations there have been lots of Haitians round La Romana, which used to be a massive sugar plantation area. Furthermore, not all the "black" genes come from Haiti. There were big settlements of blacks in the East of the island who came from various then British colonial islands. They were called "cocolos".

The area with the biggest proportion of European-looking Dominicans is the Cibao Valley, but races are well mixed-up all over the country.

The first boatload arrived just 10 years after Columbus, in 1502. Surely, none of those slaves or the newly arrived colonists (or even their royal patrons in Europe) could ever have imagined that more than 11 million Africans would follow that first boat's path to slavery in the New World. Traders called Santo Domingo the Gateway to the Caribbean. It might as well have been called the Gateway of the Slaves."

In visiting the Dominican Republic, The Root's editor-in-chief discovers that its citizens claim they're anything but black, Henry Louis Gates Jr. ; http://www.theroot.com/views/dominicans-denial?page=0.2.

"I knew those tribes were long gone from the island. So I asked him to define indio for me more clearly. I wanted to understand why the term is used to describe a people who, back home in the States, would be described as black. But he struggled to find an explanation that would satisfy me. It seems that anyone who isn't white. Whether the person is lightly tan, medium brown or dark black. Self-identifies as indio. It is more about being Dominican, he explained, than being African or indigenous. Who is black? Who is "negro"? Why, the Haitians!"

Since there's not much activity on the PC section, I also posted this here. I'll be in PC for the 1st time in a few weeks. I have previously been to every other major hotspot on island. SD, BC, La Romana, POP, Santiago, Sosua and Cabarete. I am a solid Spanish speaker. My issues is that I am going for my cousin's wedding in PC, the Melia Caribe in Bavaro to be exact, and we need to do a bachelor party. Left to my own devices, I would have no problem finding what I wanted at a reasonable price, but I am worried about having a group of 4-5 guys with myself being the only Spanish speaker. Also we've got a big issue. The bride to be is planning on hanging out with her friends in Bavaro the same night we are doing are bachelor party. Obviously, we can't be seen coming out of a known mongering local or going to cabaña with a group of chicas. I've RTTF and I still can't put together a reasonable bachelor party plan given that major constraint. Are there any potential options in Punta Cana proper or another location far enough away from Bavaro? How much would a cab ride to Higuey run us? I am assuming that PC's cab prices are likely outrageous. I really would appreciate any advice and guidance. Thanks in advance.

Let me give you an introduction to the DR anyway. Most Dominican girls don't have silky hair like an Asian. And most Asians don't have nice booties, like the girls in the DR who get that from Africa. And don't try to act like you really know what you're talking about when you talk about those flat assed Ticas in CR and slim girls in Asia. And your comment"Do they get lighter the further away from Haiti you go", makes me think you would go to the corner furthest away from Haiti to justify your hatred. How sad.

I know you saw my name in this forum and said"damn this guy" but you had to post that question because you have been viewing pics of DR girls for you trip. But some would think that you would have been more tactical and asked about prices, places to go, and transportation to conceal your racial hatred.

Hopefully in the future you will get off the racial tip and realize we are brothers that share this hobby together.

WHAT A CRAPPY DOCUMENTARY!

FIRST OF ALL, DOMINICANS AREN'T 90% "BLACK" ALSO, &65279; USE THE TERM AFRICAN INSTEAD OF BLACK BECAUSE THAT IS JUST A COLOR NOT A RACE. THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC IS 73% MULTIRACIAL. 16% WHITE. 11% BLACK!

THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES ONLY THAT ONE HAS A BETTER ECONOMIC STRUCTURE THAN THE OTHER BUT STILL BOTH ARE SIMILAR BECAUSE POVERTY PLAYS A HUGE ROLE IN BOTH COUNTRIES AND DOMINICANS DO NOT HATE HAITIAN!

HAITI AND DR. THESE TWO NATIONS ARE WAY DISTANT FROM EACH OTHER IN INFRASTRUCTURE, SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION, ECONOMICS, POLITICS, ETC. I NOTICE A LACK OF FAIRNESS IN SOME PEOPLES JUDGMENT, INCLUDING WELL RESPECTED PROFESSOR GATE, ABOUT DOMINICANS. RACISM AMONG HAITIANS THEMSELVES IT'S EVEN WORSE THAN WHAT SOME PEOPLE COULD CALL RACISM IN THE DR.

AN ISLAND DIVIDED'. THE DOMINICAN SEGMENT OF THE DOCUMENTARY.

DR. GATES TRAVELED EXTENSIVELY IN HAITI SHOWCASING THE VARIETY OF OPINIONS AND COMMUNITIES THAT SETTLE THERE. THE SAME CANNOT BE SAID OF HIS EXPLORATION OF THE DOMINICAN REP. HE RESERVED HIMSELF TO THE CAPITAL CITY, SANTO DOMINGO. IT IS COMPLETELY DISREGARDING THE DISSENTING VOICES AND DIVERGENT CULTURE OF THE INTERIOR CITIES WHICH HAVE HISTORICALLY DIFFERED FROM THE MANDATE OF THE CAPITAL.

THERE WAS SOME KIND OF EFFORT FROM THE AUTHOR TO VICTIMIZE THE HAITIANS AND MAKE THE DOMINICANS LOOK LIKE THE BAD GUYS. HAITI IS A NATION OF GREAT PEOPLE, SO DOMINICANS. BASED ON THE WAY THE ISLAND WAS DIVIDED NOT ONLY IN SPACE, BUT IN LANGUAGE, TRADITIONS, CULTURE, AND SO ON. IT IS EASY TO UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN HAITI AND DR.

THIS IS THE APTITUDE OF THE BLACK AMERICAN TOWARD&65279; BLACK THAT ARE NOT AMERICAN-SLAVES DESCENDANT : SPEAKING NEAR A FOX NEWS MICROPHONE THAT HE THOUGHT WAS TURNED&65279; OFF, THE REV. JESSE L. JACKSON ON SUNDAY DISPARAGED SEN. BARACK OBAMA'S EMBRACE OF FAITH-BASED SOCIAL SERVICES, USING CRUDE LANGUAGE TO SUGGEST THAT HE WANTED TO CASTRATE THE PRESUMPTIVE DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL (OBAMA) NOMINEE. SO, CAN YOU SEE THAT IS NOT JUST A DOMINICAN PROBLEM.

I FOUND THIS VIDEO AS AN INSIDOUS AND PERFIDIOUS PROPANGADA AND AT LEAST TO SAY AND LACK OF RESPECT AND FULL OF VICIOUS AND UNFUNDED PORPUSES AGAINST THE CULTURE AND HISTORY OF THE DOMINICAN PEOPLE.

YOU ARE NOT THE FIRST ONE TO DO THIS KIND OF MISSLEADING ARGUMENT WHY THE HAITIAN PEOPLE ARE IN THE CONDITION OF ADYECT POVERTY THAT THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGHT THEIR HISTORY. YOUR&65279; COUNTRY (USA) NOT JUST FRANCE WITH THE HAITIAN ELITE ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE

But what I'm surprised at is that you didn't check this trick. I'm light skinned but held my hand up next to my darker Dominican girlfriends hand and she claimed everything but said she is not black. She said"I'm indio" "I'm Spanish" I'm Latin". Ask her if she knows who Nelson Mandela, Dr Martin Luther king, Desmond Tutoo, or even Shaka zulu is? I'm willing to bet she doesn't know or care.

And her comment that Dominicans don't hate haitians? You have been to the DR, have you seen equality? They have a history of killing, occupations and war, and she makes you believe they are loving neighbors?

And racism amongst Haitians? They are some of the most together people on the planet, good or bad. The distance is amongst classes regarding economics. I'm sure you told her this. My point is before you post such a one sided evaluation, I would hope you investigate for yourself and report the opinion you develope when coming to YOUR conclusion.

Then there was this email I received from a Dominicana (sorry Jackson I received it in all caps and just copied it) :From what I have seen and heard in my travels to DR, I agree with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. I see very few Dominicans who appear to be native Indian. Dominicans with blonde hair and blue eyes, very, very few, practically zero.

My last trip in Santo Domingo, I entered the hotel barcelo with a light skin pro and security did not bother me, I tried to enter the same hotel with a dark skin dominicana and I was stopped and told I would to have to pay a high fee to allow the dark skin chica to enter the hotel. I told the worker at the front desk he was racist, he replied that he was the same color as the chica. Some Dominicans play the game, racist when it suits their needs and then they will claim to be dark skin when it is convenient.

From what I understand, human kind started in Africa and branched out from there. Environmental factors shaping the exterior of humans in different parts of the world, thereafter.

Also tell her to look up what the Taino population was prior to this, as their population was greatly decimated (from disease) by the Spaniards:

Quoted from the link above: "The Dominicans were at serious disadvantage if they were to prevent the Haitian invasion. Mainly, they had no military forces whatsoever, their population was eight to ten times less than Haiti's, and the economy was stalled..."

I have not hung out at night in boca chica in more than 5 years, so I have no clue how it is now. Boca Chica is ten minutes from the santo domingo airport.Boca Chica is fine, like anywhere else, if you have your wits about you. I met a girl of 20, mother of 2, who gave the dependents to a girlfriend while I rented a ST room in her apartment building. She didn't want to go to her apartment, which she shared with the girlfriend. I still have her number in my DR cellphone. She is always good to go, and said that she did LT as well. She speaks no English, though, and lives in the neighborhood.

As far as the Series goes, I found the Cuba and Brazil episodes way better than the DR episode. The knowledge I gained was refreshing. I was completely wrong with a lot of my initial assumptions. I always thought the Dominican Republics problem with their African roots was because of their fear of Haitians. But that series gave me a new explanation. Cuba had Black revolutionary fighters, which I didn't know. And Brazil had the biggest slave trade market. This series should be must see for anyone who travels Latin America.

And I'm sure you think all Americas current problems were caused by people living in the Ghetto. But thats politics and I don't get into political talks here. And just so you know my middle class neighborhood is 33% Black. 33% White and 33% Spanish, and everybody gets along. I can walk down the street and hear words such as dude, bro and amigo. So what you call Ebonics doesn't offend me at all. Only someone who is completely out of touch with reality would judge instead of respect. I'm a Democrat but I don't hate (strong word) anyone or anything. Instead of hating everything that goes against what you think, maybe you should open your mind and try to understand what you hate, and why?

Also when you post and try to be "slick" and talk in code that might be acceptable in your environment, you should now see that other people will not be as tolerant. I told you this months ago, but then you come here to the DR forum asking if there is a white girl utopia furthest away from Haiti where there might even be Russians girls. A Bare Back Blow Job Beer Summit or BBBJBS! Man I like the sound of that. First round on me gents next time I'm in DR. I'm serious

I disagree with your observations regarding Mr Gogo. (presumptuous=conceited, I don't see Mr Gogo as being conceited).Since you are loyally defending Mr Gogo, I must defend the Professor."Presumptuous" doesn't mean "conceited", at least not as one of its primary meanings. It means someone who presumes things, or someone who has presumed something on a particular occasion. Mr Gogo wrongly "presumed" that only two members had viewed the Gates documentary, whereas I and the Professor have seen it and I would guess dozens of other have.

Why have we not all commented on it? Because it is an average piece of work and not really worth commenting on. There is lots of good stuff in it and it might be useful to anyone who knows shit about the island as a starting point, but they would need to take Gates' opinions and generalizations with a pinch of salt. And you know my comments are coming from someone who is very aware of Dominican endemic racism and who usually stands up for Haitians.

Just to take a simple example. The documentary opens with what Gates claims is a band playing traditional Dominican music. Only problem is that music is not Dominican it is Cuban (or possibly Puerto Rican?) and not at all widely played in the DR. He would only have to walked a few minutes to find bachata or merengue (or even Dominican-style reggaeton or Dominican-style salsa which would have been more apt). But he was in a hurry and on a cheap budget. (This is Thursday, so this must be the Dominican Republic). It doesn't really matter about music, but it does about issues where thousands of lives have been lost and thousands more are at risk today.

Watch it by all means, but keep you minds open and check every fact or statistic he gives independently.

I have this rule whenever I monger: no politics. Most people who know me well would say I am a political junkie, yet I choose to keep my personal life and political affiliations separate from my mongering activities. I have seen the Gates documentaries and like the others, I decided not to opine on the subject because I know that the discussion ultimately deterioates into a verbal pissing match.

Gates couldn't squeeze 500+ years of history into a one hour special, so naturally quite a bit was left out and with a limited budget he took some poetic license. One of the best books on the history of island of Hispaniola is C L R James' The Black Jacobins, and there are numerous links and writings on the tiano culture or what's left of them, yes the entire population was indeed decimated by Columbus and his men in their quest for gold. African slaves, millions of them, were brought in to replace the Indians (Arawaks). The notion that African genes arent prevalent in most Dominicans is absurd and patently false. Their denial of their obvious African ancestry coupled with the shame and anger of being occupied by Haiti for decades, was
the focal point of the Gates Documentary. You can also throw in adopting a Euro-colonial racial caste system that keeps the white and lighter skinned elites in power, this is true for most of central and Latin America, not just DR.

We gather here for the common purpose of sharing information on fine ass chicas, irrespective of race, political ideology and
social economic background. I have experienced good times with mongers I suspect are probaly my polar opposite in ideology but we were talking about the ass and after a few drinks, it was all good.

Apologies in advance to the grammar police, I wrote this on my phone. I may go back for new years as my premed chica is saying all the right things.

Talk about you conquests, hoes, how much you lied paying them the amount of orgasms you gave her and where you found them. BUT Never talk about politics nor religion. It's always a buzzkill and leads to contentious arguments and a mongering spot while trying to bang chicas SHOULD be no place for it. I might even dare to add sports to that list. I admit become hypocritical by battling tooth and nail with KNICK AND CELTIC fans I have to admit it get pretty heated but in the end we are buying each other beers and leave with respect and understanding we are on VACATION. LOL

Except that Madisongay would be jacking off with a presidente in his other hand because he doesn't like DR women unless they look Russian.Again you are a presumptuous jack ass. I was nearly making an observation I saw in other mongering places when I referenced Russians. My wife is a very dark Mexican, I PREFER LATIN above all else. My favorite mongering spot currently is Tijuana. Honestly people like you in general keep racism alive a lot more than me. Stop blaming me for being racist because you have poor English skills.
